Ambula Sorry about the gain but that is great you are back on track.

I didnt get to go to WI last week cause i had to work late but I was in FL the weekend before for a wedding so better that way i guess. Lots of food and drinking involved lol I am trying hard this week to keep on track so we shall see.

I had a good WI on Thursday - down another 3 pounds! (I was thinking it would be less). I'm down a total of 23.2 pounds!! :D

I had a rough weekend though; I went to a scrapbook retreat and couldn't really control the food I ate because I was away from home and didn't have a lot of healthy options. I did the best I could, but still made some poor choices. I need to hit the gym, but we have things that need to be done around the house, so the gym will need to wait.

Thats almost 15 lbs! I will say though that yesterday I was sick, I think something in my lunch was bad, cuz I got rid of it. Then I was fine, so last night I had a greasy burger... to be honest I'm fairly certain my points evened out.

I'm still pretty giddy though about what my scale said :) I haven't been this weight in like 2 years... maybe more

I maintained last night. Which, after the weekend I had and not working out - I'm really happy with!

I am back to tracking again (well, as of the day after WI :p) and will be going to the gym tonight. It's weird - I really did miss working out. And running (never thought I'd say that!!!).

Chimichanga That is good you maintained I have to get back to gym myself ASAP

I have been doing horrible lately :( I gained more than half my weight back in over amonth and I only lost a total of 21lbs I just dont know what happened and started snacking, eating more etc like there was no tomorrow than went to FL a couplek weeks ago for a wedding and ate ate and drank and ate some more

Im hoping starting today I can get back on track So far I only had a bar for breakfast and almost 3 bottls of water and hope to get to the gym this weekend.

My third weigh-in is tomorrow but it isn't looking to good. I eat barely my daily points and started up an intense exercise routine. Getting in the mind set to eat more has been hard and it has taken a toll of the weight loss this week,

wk 1 = -8lbs
wk 2 = -3.2lbs
wk 3 = ???

I had another horrible weekend :( Went out Friday for drinks and bar food (something I almost never do) and my parents came for a visit. Which means we don't eat the best things.

But, I'm back on track now; that's all you can do right? I went to the gym last night but I was so exhausted I only did 30 minutes total. Normally I'll do at least an hour.

Today I'm going for a walk over lunch, so that will be good.

Have a good week, everyone!

Well ladies, I'm sorry to say I'm leaving ww for a bit. My son, who is ebf, has major gas/tummy troubles so I'm eliminating all dairy, as well as "gassy foods," a lot of which are healthy (beans, onions, peppers, broccoli, etc) It's just too much to manage my new elim diet while on ww. I'll continue to pop in though!

Shannon, good luck! I had to do the same early on. It is hard, but once you get the hang of it, you don't even think twice about what you eat.

I didn't weigh in last week. Huge festival in town and we live on the parade route, which means we entertain all weekend long. I was too stressed to try to get into ww. Besides, I would have hated to see that scale given I was 20 points over my weekly allowance. I journaled everything though. This week is another story. The weekend was really bad, didn't journal at all. The weekdays are going better, but I know I need to get on the treadmil. I am more afraid of the scale this week than I have ever been.

Well I weighed in after lunch (obsessive much?) and of course after eating and everything I'm .8 lbs less than this morning... I must have been puffy... oh well, next week maybe I'll see a bigger loss :)

Tray - Keep it up they add up quick

Shannon- I'm sorry about your son's tummy, good luck!

Tgal - festival food is no points right? I think you did wonderful just for writing it down, I'm terrible about it if I'm going over!

mar: I wouldn't worry too much. My OB/GYN scale and my GP's scale have a 7lb difference. I prefer weighing in at my GP's office ;)!

I had a 2lb gain for the past two weeks. I knew I would be up my pants are a little snug. I'm doing better though. The weekend killed me.

Oh and for those of you who are interested Costco has the 5 ingredient 15 minute cookbooks again, 2 for 12 bucks, these are old issues. The new spring issue is also in grocery stores and walmart for 10 bucks. I planned this weeks meals from the spring issue. If you get it I highly recommend the orange roughy and garlicy shrimp recipe. I altered the garlicy shrimp by adding a tbs of fat free cream cheese and had a little bit of linguini with it.

Alright, I am still trying to do ww, but I have to say I have been hungry and eating everything I can shove in my mouth. I've been eating all the bad stuff so quickly that I don't even have time to second guess my decisions. Needless to say, I had a gain two weeks ago and a slight loss last week. I am tempted not to weigh in tomorrow, but know if I don't it might dig me deeper.

Rumor has it at our meetings that people start dwindling during the summer! I am determined not to be one of those people despite missing my past two meetings. DD is done with preschool for the summer and I seriously need to figure out the logistics with all of this. For me, I have to go to the meetings. I've seen a trend in that I'm not journaling when I don't go.

I have been so unmotivated lately. I need to keep coming back to this thread!! I've been up and down all of May. I'm at -22 pounds, so I'm on the right track, but I haven't gone beyond 23.2 pounds.

I have not tracked at all and we cancelled our gym memberships to save money, so not working out like I should. Basically, my motivation has been in the toilet.

This week I am forcing myself to track. The weekend was rough; I'm definitely a snacker - but I wrote everything down. I wanted to walk last night but I didn't (see above regarding motivation) but I did stretching, some crunches and push ups and the like. Today I took a brisk 25 minute walk over lunch - I didn't want to smell too ripe after! I plan to do a workout tape after DD goes to bed as DH will be at work so I'm homebound.

I'm increasing my water in take, and thus my trips to the bathroom. I'm bumping up the fruit and veggies as well. I really think the tracking is the main part of my fluctuation. I mean, I get the jist of what I should be eating, but by not tracking I'm probably going over by 5 points or so every day, which is affecting my bottom line.

I'll be back tomorrow to post what I did tonight. I need the accountability!! :D

Chimichanga
06-11-2008, 09:19 AM
On my end, no workouts last night :( DH was home earlier and we were working on our budget, and right now that is taking priority to my workouts (which is fine). However, tonight he's working the whole night so once DD goes to bed, I'll have time to do some WATP DVDs :D

ShamrockBride
06-11-2008, 03:10 PM
Chimichanga- budgeting is important, believe me I'm there, so just make sure to do it tonight. our gym memberships are also over-dh is running... but due to my injury.... I am not doing much. Sit up's tonight, and I think I will look into a dvd soon... there has to be something I can do :)
Good luck tonight :)

I managed to lose .2 last night. I know it's a "wimpy" loss, but it's a loss. Actually, we had a different leader and she said "you only lost .2 pounds." Excuse me?? You ONLY lost? I wasn't planning to stay for the meeting anyways, but I definitely didn't after that comment. I mean, say something positive like - you lost X, great job.

I did find out that my leader doesn't do the Saturday meetings. :( I may have to do Saturdays as I'm starting a new job. I'm going to try like hell to get to my regular meeting because I love my leader so much.

ShamrockBride
06-13-2008, 08:40 AM
And it sounds like she's not a very good leader (I've never been to a meeting) But you need to go to a place where you feel motivated and supported.

Well, I finally made it back to a meeting and am journaling again. I will be going everything other Wed. and Thurs. the opposite weeks. I just can't swing Fridays now that my dd is out of school. The good news is that I was down 2 pounds! Whew! I am so happy, 7.1 pounds to go and I will officially be under 200. I want this so bad! :D

Well, I was up a little last night (+2) so I'm still down 20.2 pounds.

I have some renewed motivation. I journaled last night about how I was feeling, why I wanted to lose weight and what steps I needed to do to help get me there. I also re-read what I had written previously; it was helpful.

My meeting was also good; we talked about the road to healthy living and about the detours/road bumps. We've done this topic before, but it was a good eye opener, you know?

I've got my Trakker going and my fruit/veggie and water check marks in there. Although, my new job threw me a welcome party today; with all the fixins. I nibbled on stuff; not too much of anything. I'm putting that on my 35 and will count all 35. So no more flex points for me, but I know I can earn extra points with Activity, so it won't be horrible.

I've taken a bunch of time off, starting at the beginning of May with DD's party. I've been horrible about all of this sinc ethen. I'm starting fresh again today, since Thursday are weigh-in day for me.

I guess the good news is that over the last month and a half, I didn't gain a ton back. In fact, I've stayed the same. I really, really want to get under 190 (maybe even to 185) by DS's birthday in July, so here goes.

I've been thinking about dropping my points down a little early, because even though I've been cheating a little, it's been really hard to get those last 4 lbs. So maybe eating 2 less points a day will bump me along. So much for under 200 by the 4th :( oh well, I'll get over it I guess.

Great losses ladies!

I am still hanging in there. Not journaling much, but I'm still watching and sometimes doing the calculations in my head. Weekdays I do really well, weekends have been for the birds. I weighed in yesterday and just maintained, which made me happy because the last time I weighed in when AF arrived, I had gained two pounds. I plan to go next thursday for another weigh in.

Shamerock: I am right there with you! There is a lady in my meetings who says "think of where you would be if you weren't here" in reference to maintaining or slow losses. For me any loss at this point is wonderful! You are still doing great, keep it up!

I weighed in last Thurs. and I am down another pound. I told myself I was going to try to switch to core, yeah right! I know you aren't supposed to switch in the middle of the week, but I don't care. I do so much better when I am at work, so starting tomorrow, I am doing core until my week from Wed. weigh in just to see how I like it and if it can work for me.

Today is my very first day of WW. I'm trying it online for now. I really love the online system so far (doing the free trial week now).

Welcome aboard ajb. The first few days were hell for me, and for DH we were so snappy with eachother.
But it passed and now even with my points cut down I am rarely starving. I promise if you can squeek through the first week it gets easier!
suggestions to you, celery, carrots, oh and get some of the "free" we count it as a point for 2 slices bread, some mustard, and lowfat turkey. It's two points and can tie you over better than some of the other 2 pt snacks.

Just remember after a few days it won't bother you so much. and it's so so worth it.

I am also queen of trying to eat a ton of food for few points. I hate things like carrots and 0 point foods but I have found some good substitutes.

I eat a 3 point sandwich for lunch by using the alternative bagels (1pt) and loading it with tomato, lettuce, a 1pt. slice of cheese, and turkey.
I eat ice cream daily from Golden Spoon (1-3pts. based on size).
I live on a fiber bar (2pts.) between lunch and dinner.
I love El Pollo Loco! I get a Pollo salad with no dressing for 4 pts and it is huge!!
I make fat free Krusteaz blueberry muffins (2pts.). Yummy and full of fiber!

Another idea for pita lovers... Joseph's pitas (I found them at Super Wal-Mart) are 1 point for the whole pita. It's on the border of 0-1 and my leader said to use 1 pt. I load it with mustard, lettuce, cucumber, WW cheese and turkey. Super filling for 3 points!!

DisneyGirl - your body is probably balancing itself. You sort of shocked it with the food and exercise. If you've been doing the same thing every day (same food, workout, amount of points, etc) try something different. If you've been changing things - then just wait a week; I'm sure it will work out. Oh, and don't forget your fruits/veggies, oil, milk and water!!

Thanks Tray & Chimi.. I guess I need to change things up a bit more..I thought I was on track with everything, But I guess I need to go back on last weeks food/exersise tracker and see what I can do different this week. I know I get enough water and Milk since I only drink those two things and I am crazy about making sure I get 2 fruits and 3 veggies everyday and I have my 2 t of pourable oil.

What counts as a serving of friut and veggies....1 cup or 1/2 cup? I think its 1/2 cup equals 1 serving..right?

Also:(incase you haven't seen them) try the Thomas english miffins and bagles they are 100 cal and are 1pt.

I'm planning on going to my first WW meeting tomorrow. I'm trying to lose about 10 pounds to get back to my pre-baby weight. I have a few questions, though, before I go. I hope I'm not going to be wasting my time. I eat mostly natural unprocessed foods. I cook a good bit from scratch and I go out to eat a lot (to places that I'm fairly certain don't use preservatives and unnatural ingredients). I'd like to know how WW works with your own recipes. I've done a search for this, but all I can find is WW-specific recipes. How would you count points for, say, a chicken dish at Carrabba's? Or bread that I make in my bread machine? Most of the people that I talk to that have done WW seem to be counting points for things like the WW frozen dinners or pre-packaged items. Like my neighbor who was eating things like swiss cake rolls (or something similar), because the points were low enough. I just don't eat that way. So how would you figure out points for made from scratch recipes? I know they'll probably answer this when I go, but I'd just like to get as much info as I can before I get there.

Welcome Ladies, Guinness - I know what you mean about not being sure about the ultimate goal, My BMI range is low enough that I'm not sure I've ever really been in it, even as a cross country runner in HS. I figure I'm not doing this to be a certain weight, I'm doing it to be healthier. And the weight dropping is only part of that.

CarolinaGirl - Go to the meeting. It shouldn't be hard to calculate how many points things are based on what you put into them, you just have to take the time to add your ingredients before you cook. Eating out makes it harder, sometimes you can get nutrition facts from the restaurant. I'd say more but I gotta get to work.

ajb524
07-29-2008, 06:26 AM
Carolinagirl- For restaurants try http://www.dwlz.com/restaurants.html. As far as food at home you should be able to use the nutritional information to calculate points on items. I'm doing it online now and I just type in the name of the food and it gives me a point value. I think you should be able to get books though that do the same thing as well as a points calculator.

DisneyGirl
07-29-2008, 07:53 AM
carolina when you first join you stay after the meeting with the leader as she will go over eveything with you and if you have any questions she will answer then for you. I make lots of things from sctatch and I just look at ever single lable and use my point finder to figure out the value..Its really like playing detective to a point. There are also books you can buy at the meetings

points calculator does anyone have the electronic one? They give you the slider one when you join WW, but i think the electronic one would be a bit faster.

Weigh in yesterday Yahoo! I'm down this week 3.6 lbs. Though I have no idea how..lol since i did zero excercise

tray622
07-29-2008, 08:47 AM
I do have the calculator and it worls just as quickly as the slider. I like having it though to throw into my purse. I usually keep it with me and the slider at home. Also, if I don't write things down it has a tool that keeps track of the points you have left for you.

ETA: Wow on the weight loss! 3.6 is huge :)

DisneyGirl
07-29-2008, 09:30 AM
Tray where did you get the calculator from? Can I buy it at my meeting place?

Chimichanga
07-29-2008, 10:20 AM
Calculators are available at the meetings. They also have one now where you can enter your points for the day (say 25). Every time you eat something, enter it into the calculator and it will subtract your points. So you have an egg white omlette with veggies (say 2 points), 1 pt toast and black coffee. You enter it in, and your total points for the day is updated to 22.

I've been doing my workouts and staying within points. I had a gain last week as I ate out the day of my WI (have to stop that!!) I have been weighing daily; I know I shouldn't but that's motivating to me. I did a walk over lunch and will do a run/weights tonight at the gym. I better lose those 2 pounds I put on last week! :p

CarolinaGirl - hope you first meeting today went well. Guinness - I'm also post-two babies and a lot of comfort eating, too - guess it's a perfect time for me to join along with you!

DisneyGirl - congrats on your loss! You, too, tray622; hope you had fun in San Diego!

I joined today, too, Weight Watchers at Work. I'm so excited we have WW @ Work now - it started here last year but I was pregnant. I have since had my second (and last) baby, in April, and now I really want to focus on me and my weight/health. I had joined WW @ Work before I got pregnant with my first child (at a different job than I have now) so from January through April 2004, I lost 13 pounds on WW. It's the only thing that's ever worked for me. I have never "dieted" because my mother was always "dieting" (fad diets) and never losing. So I always knew that I'd have to make a lifestyle change, and I hope to do that even more so this time. I do a lot of comfort/emotional eating, so that's going to be the big thing I work on. I eventually will exercise but I'm not at that point yet (except for chasing around my preschooler and walking sometimes).

I did the Flex plan last time and I think I'll do that this time, too - though the leader said we'll go over the plans next week and choose. I think the accountability of points works well for me. I also used the computer/web site last time to track things - easy since I have a desk job - and that helped a great deal, too.

I gained only 11 lbs. with my second pregnancy (easier to do when you're already overweight! I gained about 30 with my first pregnancy) and am already back to my pre-pregnancy weight - though obviously I'm not happy with my pre-pregnancy weight - so I'm happy about that. Also, this weekend was my birthday so I purposely (over)indulged and it makes it easier to start WW now.

I can't wait to start!

ShamrockBride - I like how you track things, so I hope you don't mind if I copy you! You have lost so much - congratulations!

I took my shoes off (the scale had a sign to do so) and then I weighed my shoes and she said they weighed 1.2 lbs. But then what she wrote on the paper that I weighed I wasn't sure if that included the 1.2 lbs. - then again, now that I think about it I think she wrote the number on the paper BEFORE weighing the shoes so it probably means she didn't subtract the shoes - darn.

But I know what you mean about taking off things - I did that when I did WW last time (and when I was pregnant) - take everything off possible and also try to wear the same (or similar weight) clothes each week.

I'm 5'2 with a pretty small frame, so every few pounds really show up on me. I joined for 5 weeks hoping that I can lose all this post baby weight in that time.
I started yesterday with 30 points (I'm still breastfeeding), and I was really starving by the time dinner rolled around,so i had a pretty big dinner but still kept it 10 points by adding a whole cucumber and a ton of salad greens. I went and bought a ton of veggies today to make my meals bigger.

I have another question though. I can't find anything in my books about this, but how do you calculate activity points?

Chimichanga
07-30-2008, 11:25 AM
Activity points are figured using the other side of your points finder :) It considers your current weight, what level of exercise you did (light, moderate, heavy) and for how long.

I believe they really give you a lot more information about APs (Activity Points) in week 2 or 3; basically so you have time to get the whole tracking thing down, then add in some workouts.

Twinn- you're welcome to my way of tracking, but i have to admit, I stole it from someone else (but I dont remember who) I use it because I dont actually attend meetings (I can't afford them)
But it seems you are all doing great! congrats :)

I had a great weigh in last night - down 4.2 pounds! I'm currently at 24.4 pounds lost. So close to 25!!! But, I'm glad I didn't hit it last night; my normal leader wasn't there. The replacement was nice, but it's not the same, you know?

If that isn't motivation enough, I saw an old picture of me. OMFG!!! It was actually taken at DD's 1st birthday party. Her 2nd birthday is this weekend. I looked like a house last year. Don't get me wrong; I'm still heavy but I hope to look a bit sleeker this year!

I did go over on points last night after WI. We had dinner and I was hungry. I think my blood sugar was a bit low. So I went over a bit, but I'm back at the gym today. :)

I had a small piece of cake, salads and stuff, but I didn't finish my plate and didn't have seconds. I was just too busy to eat i guess :) I did get a good workout in Saturday - completely cleaning my house. I worked up quite a sweat. I was a lovely vision ;)

So, on Friday I decided that it was time to get serious about dropping some weight. I looked into WW and there aren't any meeting places around here (closest is at least half an hour), so I'm doing it on my own. I've been doing a lot of reading and I've managed to stay pretty well on track with core - and I'm down 2.5 lbs since Friday! I still don't know how to calculate points, but I haven't really veered off of the core foods, so it's not a big deal right now, although I'm sure I'll get tired of just core foods and want to branch out into some other things...

Anyway, my question is about the 2 t. of oil a day. I don't generally use any oil in cooking. What's the reasoning behind the recommended oil & is it really that important to get?

Yes, it's important. :) it's a healthy fat that is needed for brain function. It's really not a lot (2 tsp is TINY!!). My leader cut out the fat and she ended up getting very painful kidney stones. It's worth keeping it in your diet! :) ;)

Have you tried online meetings? You can do things online - you do pay for it, but you can have access to the points finder/online tracking, etc. I *think* you might be able to order supplies online, but don't quote me on that.

I heard it was important for digestion and for healthy hair, nails, etc.

I only lost .6 last week.

The only thing I hate about the 2 Tsp of oil is the amout of point is equals out to per day...I can find something much better for the points..LOL

Oh, Not sure If I asked this before but I'll ask again: Is a serving size of fruit/veggies 1 cup or 1/2 cup. I am falling off the fruit veggir wagon something big.

That's one of the reasons I do core. You don't have to count the oil as points!:p

1/2 cup = 1 Veggies/fruit, except for green leafy veggies which are 1 cup = 1 serving

Hi ladies...Well unfortunatley I havent posted here cause I feel I have done bad the last few months I was sooo close to my goal and I pretty much blew it by gaining back mostly all my weight It was about 20lbs or so which isnt much but I worked hard to get there and did it to myself by blowing it.

I really have to try my hardest to get back on track I did have personal issues going on a few months back that pretty much started it and now things are ok so I just hope I can get back to where I started and concentrate. I went last night to the meeting last night so Im hoping it will be the start of a new journey.

Thanks for the support :)

Hi ladies, just poking my head in. I started WW this week. My twins are a year old and it's time to lose the baby weight! (And, well, the weight I've gained thier first year...) Really I just want to get my energy up and feel a little better about myself.

I'm doing Flex Online. The first two days have been ok.

I'm so mad at myself. I gained 4 freakin pounds!?!?  I know it was from DD's birthday party. I had leftovers all week which were horrible for me. Plus, I still feel bloated and the party was on Sunday (I've been drinking water like mad)

So, this is my angry motivation. I was .6 pounds away from 25 pounds lost - now I'm right back near 20 pounds. Damn!!!

I'm keeping strict track on tracker. I am talking with DH tonight and he is GOING to help me! He's been lax lately and I was okay with it, but I'm not paying for nothing here!! ;) I'm heading to the gym to run/workout every day but Thursday (my WI).

I'm so sick of fluctuating... it's annoying!

Chim I sometimes have weeks like that, and then lose it the next.

I lost -1 this week, which put's me at 14 down (30 overall post baby). I am just frustrated at how SLOW I am losing it. I weight what I did 3 weeks after I had my DS and my DD is now 4 1/2 months!! School starts in 3 weeks, so now I have to go buy bigger pant and shirts so I have something to wear to work. If I don't I'll have serious muffin top!

Why can't they make pants like the do for my DS, with those adjustable pull waists!:p

I've been doing a really bad job about being accountable to myself and staying with the plan. So... Starting on 9/2 I'm going to go to meetings. I've always done WW Online only but that's not working anymore for me and I've gained back nearly 7lbs since my lowest in March. I have to wait until Sept so I can go when DS is in preschool. I'm still going to be on plan though and do food journaling again.

Well, had a not so good weekend. We we out on Saturday and we ate lunch at Arby's. We then went to the fair and I had a funnel cake and some french fries.

But... we did hit the farmers market that morning and I got some great fruits and veggies. We grilled some zucchini for dinner and I am eating leftovers for lunch. Yummy! And, I got some very delicious cherries and a great melon.

I figured I can combat my weekend by bumping up the workouts and being very on track this week. I was about 15 points over flex (yikes!) this weekend, but I at least wrote everything down.

So, I haven't posted since I joined because I felt I wasn't doing that well. This past week was my first "official" week and I lost 2.8 lbs! I have no idea how I did it because I only tracked the first three days, and I barely made my water quota each day - some days I didn't - but I'm glad I did. It's good motivation. But I was feeling kind of discouraged so I didn't come in here. I promise to come in more often - because, really, isn't that what WW is all about? :)

Anyway, here are the numbers:

SW: 189.2 (unofficial)

Week 2: -2.8

Goal #1: 10% 171.8

Thank you, DisneyGirl! Any tips for tracking then? :) I know you'll probably just say, just do it. I'm really going to try this week!

You said you tracked for three days - this week track for four. It's about making small changes.

I think using your Express tracker is great! If it works for you that's all that matters :)

My leader always stresses changing just one thing at a time. So, for this week make it your tracker. You don't have to be perfect; but set a goal and stick to it. Increase it from the week before; so that's why I suggested 4 days. You can make your own "rules" for this - that's the beauty of it.

Same thing for water - just try to increase it. My leader hates water (and freely admits it!) She keeps a measuring cup in the bathroom and when she brushes her teeth, she fills it for a cup and drinks it. She has now just gotten at least 2 cups of water in a day. :)

Twinnyme I have 2 small kiddos too and when I was doing flex I would just leave my journal with a pen out of the counter and write in it as the ate the food!

Thats what I use to do until I bought the calculator that keeps tracks of my points. I just enter in the points of the things I eat during the day.

I'm having a super hard time getting in the oils..they are such a waist of points..eventhough I know they are good for the body

twinnyme
08-13-2008, 04:06 AM
Chimichanga - good idea. One day down (tracked), three to go! (and maybe more)

Ferris - I try that but then I'm at work some days and forget to bring it back out at home, etc. I'm trying!

Disney - oils? Haven't even tried to get those in. Though we usually do whole-wheat pasta with olive oil so should be pretty easy once we have that again, at least the days we have that.

Chimichanga
08-13-2008, 07:15 AM
Disney - just throw your oils on your Flex points and be done with it. Or, use it in other ways. Example - put a bit of oil on salad and use those spray dressings (they are like 200 pumps for a point or something, so basically 0 points). the oil will help the good nutrients get absorbed into your body. 2 tsp on a large salad is nothing, and it will help disperse the dressing better. Or, my leader loves some oil tossed with popcorn and the I can't believe it's not butter spray. Huge bowl of air popped popcorn, some oil and 0 pt. spray. When making dinner, throw it in for the whole family (who can't benefit from a healthy oil??).

Personally, my DH does use oil when cooking dinner, so I don't even know they are in there (but he will tell me for points calculations). We have made modifications to the way we do things so I can get them in. My leader used to leave the bottle of olive oil on the counter so she'd always see it. Then she bought a cute bottle with a cap that measured out 2 tsp.

I had to start out slow with my oils; as do a lot of people. I mean, aren't we trying to cut OUT oil and fat? :) I started shooting for 1 day a week with my oils. Then I bumped it up to 2 days. DH got on board with it and now always uses olive oil to sautee stuff for us (veggies, chicken, etc). 2 tsp isn't a lot when doing that, but it's healthier than Pam for example.

Good luck!

DisneyGirl

chim THanks for all the tips! SO, my question now is...say I put 2 tsp of oil in a salad that I am making for the whole family..Do I/ can I still count that as 2 tsp of oil for me? SInce I am not eatting the whole salad.. then really I will not be getting the 2 tsp of oil..So, the same thing with popcorn say I make a bag of 100 cal popcorn add the oil ..do I have to eat the whole bag? I mean most likely I would..I'm just trying to understand the oil thing.
BTW: I love those spray dressings

Chimichanga
08-13-2008, 08:00 AM
Personally? I count it all for me. If you go to meetings, check with your leader - she/he may say something different. Or, if cooking/sauteeing/using as a topper, use more than 2 tsp for the whole thing. that way everyone gets some.

It's still hard to add in/count those points! :) But, I figured at least I'm getting SOME of the good fat - even if it's not all 2 tsp; it's better than where I was before. Baby steps :D

Thank you, Chimichanga - I did hit it, and I was proud to do so. Then I promptly fell off the wagon, both with tracking and with overindulging (tonight at a minor league baseball game). But baby steps, so I'm okay with it. You are right - it's all about the baby steps! Your four days of tracking are better than 0 days of tracking, you know? Some people make it their goal to just write down what they eat on the weekends; not the points, but just write it down. They say it helps because you look at all the little things and it's a real eye opener (and forget about those points!). But you should feel very proud of yourself!!

I had a food weekend! Actually not too terribly bad, but not too great. I had plans to go to the gym after work, but I don't feel too well so I'm going to skip it. But, I did do about a mile walk at work over lunch so that's better than nothing.

Yes, there is a quiz that I took the first week that I don't remember doing three years ago. I just found some info on it:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070413082503AAEEISh

Well, I'm not feeling that proud anymore. :o I lost only 0.2 pounds this week. Still, I guess I lost - I just lost all tracking/motivation during the latter part of the week, and I guess that hurt me. Probably didn't help that I went to two minor-league baseball games this weekend and ate junk food - didn't plan well for that. I can only imagine, chimichanga, what an eye-opener it would have been to track my weekend intake - sort of like the first day I tracked, when I had triple the points allowed!!

Anyway, glad you got in some exercise, chimichanga!

Oh, well, there's always next week. I definitely have to do better on the water-drinking, too. It's easy at my desk during work, but my four days at home (i.e. out and about) with the kids is tougher.

Thanks, ajb524! If you don't mind my asking, how many points is that cereal combo? I have been eating Cheerios (which is my very typical breakfast, anyway) but it's 2 points with 2% milk and I would love to find a 1-point cereal replacement. Any suggestions from anyone? I've been meaning to ask that question on here anyway! (I would have asked it at the meeting today but I couldn't stay because I had a conflicting meeting, so I only went for the WI.)

I do 1/2 a cup of raisin bran (1.5 points) and 1/2 cup of fiber all (0 points) mixed together and a half a packet of splenda so it doesn't taste like I'm eating cardboard ;). I do a cup of 1% milk (2 points). My hubby will eat fiber all straight up (no milk or anything) as a snack. I tell him he might as well eat the cardboard box in comes in, lol. It's not horrible, but it's not my favorite thing in the world to eat either. I certainly couldn't eat it dry.

Twinnyme - congrats on the loss. Now just think of how it might have turned out with no tracking at all? :) As for water - I had a thought. Do your kiddos drink out of water bottles or is it sippy cups? Either way, I'm sure when you're about and about with them you make sure they have something to drink, or at least bring along a cup for them.

Why not make a special cup for you? You can either get a cute/cool reusable water bottle or have the kids help you decorate a plastic cup. You guys can make a big deal about everyone drinking from their special cups (maybe get the kids something new so they are excited about using them on "special" days). While the kids may get milk or something, you can get water. Or, if you're not feeling the water - use the mix ins. the WW ones can get expensive, and Wal-mart has ones that are cheaper and still 0 pts.

Also - how much cereal and milk are you using? My cup of skim milk is 2 points so anything I add to it only goes up from there.

So mad at myself for completely falling away and this weekend isn't looking good either.
Last weekend was a wedding, and that meant a roadtrip. And this week starts all of the welcome back free food, and my husband saying well.. we could eat there... it's free, and we don't have any groceries either, or money to buy them till financial aide comes in and blah blah blah....

I just want to tell him that the size twelve (yes I said 12 and almost fainted when I fit into them) jeans we just bought are going to be too small if we keep it up. :(

I know I'm being crabby, Im sorry I should celebrate the jeans and use them as motivation, but I'm having a fat day :(
Maybe af is coming to visit....

It's okay to have rough periods. Heck - my whole summer has been a rough period! I think it's because of all of the "fun" things (weddings, fairs, BBQs, etc) that I have a rough time focusing on weight loss. But come winter, when there's absolutely zilch to do, I'll be all about it.

I WI tonight. I didn't get my 25 pound sticker last week since my regular leader was out and I wanted to get it from her. So I'll get that tonight. I'm hoping to have a bit more off, but we'll see. I only worked out once this week and it was wimpy.

Chimichanga Not a bad gain at all Im sure you will lose that very quickly. Talk about the gym I need to get back myself.

I fell off the WW band wagon this week. I have been planning DS b-day, watching my friends kids and my little cousin has been here for over a week so I have been eatting like crap. This Monday is my last week for my 10 week membership and i am still unsure if I will rejoin again or not.
last week I lost only -.6

DisneyGirl - if it helps... it took me from March until last week to lose 5 pounds. Yeah, it was rough and I hated paying when i didn't lose. But, I stuck with it and went to meetings every week. I knew I'd get there; and without WW I probably would have gained a TON of weight. At least I maintained and that is a pretty good goal in the summer. At least in the midwest where absolutely everything happens in the summer to make up for the long winters.

Looking back on it, I'm happy I stuck with it and maintained/lost a bit. Now I'm going to be more focused because it's almost fall. There will be less going on; less food events that I will have to deal with. So, while I would have loved to have gotten more weight off, I'm happy I didn't gain. I'm giddy that I didn't gain!

I'm baaaack! I had medical issues that kept me away (being pregnant, then losing the baby) but as of 08/13/08 I rejoined and had my 1st WI this past wednesday.

I am down -4.6 :D

It was the first time, EVER, that I did the program 100% all week long and it felt great. It has also seemed easier this time than it did last time.

Good job on everyone's losses, I feel that a loss is a lot.

Chimi- I think that small a gain is normal and your doing great. I agree that from March till now you could have had a huge gain, so a 5lb loss is excellent!

Does anyone have any new recipes? I noticed the recipe thread is kinda dead and alot of the ones listed are really either hard, or have ingredients im not used to cooking with.

Have a great OP weekend!

Hey Ramona! :D Great job on the loss!

I haven't had any new recipes, but my leader did give us this:

2 c sliced strawberries
1 c diet white soda
1 pkg sugar free fat free strawberry jello
2 T cornstarch
1/2 c cold water
graham crackers

Line a 9x9 pan with graham crackers.Top graham crackers with sliced strawberries.

Boil soda and jellow together. Cool. Whisk cold water and cornstarch together. Add to soda/jello mix. Top strawberries with mixture. Refrigerate pie.

5 pts for the whole thing. You can substitute regular soda/jello if you'd like; just add the points.

Due to some Harley activities last week, I did my WI on Saturday and was up .4. Not too bad considering I had eaten like crap the few days before. I'm starting school and classes are on Thursdays, so I'm moving my meeting to today.

It's a double edged sword for me I think. I WI on Saturday, then have the Labor Day holiday and WI again on Wednesday. No time to take off what I put on! :o But, it's a good gut check for me. I maintained okay during the summer, but now I want to lose! Gotta get hubby back on track with me. When he was unofficially doing WW we both lost weight - him faster than me. But when he got off it, I slowed down.

Explain what the is....I haven't heard of "Lose for good"

Lose for Good is a promotion WW is doing. I believe it is national (my sister in Chicago is doing it too).

for every pound lost by members over the next six weeks, WW will donate a pound of food to one of two charities (they'll donate money to get there, up to $1 million). One charity - which will receive 70% of the proceeds - benefits people in the US. The other is an international fund.

If you get a friend to sign up/join during the promotion, both of you get this neat looking canvas bag. I know - not the *best* reason to do this, but I liked it! :D

My leader mentioned how funds are tight for a lot of people right now. And why not make WW help a charity by helping yourself lose weight. I know from volunteering at my local food pantry the number of requests has spiked by 50% from this time last year; and the number of donations has decreased by 1/3. She also mentioned how 2.6 million people are hungry in the world, and 1.6 billion people are overweight (or something like this).

I liked it - it's definitely motivating for me! I've stayed on points (no flex) every day except maybe today - still have to calculate.

So, you're Losing for Good; both "for good" for you so you'll keep it off, but also "for good" as in for the good of other people.

Our leader introduced the Lose for Good promotion to us this week, too. I think it goes from now through October 18th, IIRC. Chimichanga explained it well - I think it's a great concept! I'm hoping it helps to motivate me - I'm doing a bit better this week again, back on track, hopefully.

I think I figured out why I am not losing. I am not eating enough points. I am Bfing so I need to eat 33 points a day (when on flex) and sometimes its hard. I have been doing core and I don't think I have been eating enough so I switched back to flex. We'll see what happens.

Okay, so I went to my meeting yesterday and we are not doing the lose for good. I was shocked! I am actually a little ticked that my area is not part of it.

I lost 3 lbs which ment that I lost 10% of my weight and I received that very lovely(HEHEHE) key ring. Not to bad for losing 22 lbs in 11 weeks!

This week I am really going to crack down and write everything down and work out 5 time this week in hopes I can loss a bit more before Vegas. I leave in less than 2 weeks.

09-09-2008, 10:58 AM

I want to echo Chimichanga, DisneyGirl - 10% and 22 pounds in 11 weeks is incredible. Congratulations! I'm sorry you're not doing LOSE FOR GOOD, though.

Chimichanga - glad all is going well for you.

Ferris - I wish I had trouble eating 33 points, LOL. Hope Flex works for you.

We are doing LOSE FOR GOOD at my meeting - and I'm thrilled because I recorded my first loss for it today - 1.6 pounds - so given the gain of .6 pounds last week, that means I lost 1 pound over the last two weeks. But I'm still thrilled about it. It's a total of 4.6 pounds, and I can actually see the difference. I know that sounds crazy but a couple of days ago I was looking at my stomach and I knew that I had lost weight. I love that I actually did.

Week 1: 189.8 (official)
Week 2: -2.8
Week 3: -0.2
Week 4: DWI (stayed home from work as DD was sick)
Week 5: +0.6
Week 6: -1.6

Total = -4.6

Goal #1: 10% 171.8

We are halfway through and I feel like I haven't made the most of this. If I can lose about 1 pound a week for the next six weeks and lose 10 +/- pounds in total, I'll be happy - for now!

Twinnyme - great job on the loss! Maybe the Lose for Good will help you too! :)

rene' - welcome back. I've been in and out of this thread too. Always at meetings, but not always as motivated. ;) One thing that I did when I started WW was journal. I actually wrote down my thoughts, feelings and goals. I wrote down why I decided I wanted to lose weight - what was motivating me. I wrote down my goals - both mini and big picture. I wrote down my rewards for when I hit those goals. Then I kept it up (and I pulled it back out recently). I wrote how I felt after my first loss, my first gain/no change, after a month, etc. It was a great check point for me to see where I was at mentally at each of these little steps along the way. Best of luck to you!! :)

Thanks! I have some additional motivation. My grandpa is in the hospital. He lives approximately 1,200 miles from me. I haven't seen him in at least five years. So, my sister and I have decided to take a road trip at Thanksgiving to visit him and my other family members. He is my "hero." The only father figure I had growing up, so I don't want him to be disappointed when he sees me. Not that he would, but it's just some extra motivation for me. I want to make him proud.

Good for you rene'! :)

Had my WI tonight - down 4 pounds! I'm back under the -25 mark. Woot! I also got a bravo sticker for doing the 5K.

Lately I've been so busy I haven't had time to eat; so that helps curb the snacks. :) Same thing at night - too busy with DD, school and house to snack so I know that's huge.

Next week (the 20th) I leave for Orlando for work. I know it will be rough because I will be eating out three times a day at vacation spot. Which means not necessarily healthy food. I've decided to hit the gym at least once. I'll be working so I'm not sure if I'll have time for more. Plus, I'll need to do some reading/homework for school.

I have totally had a hard time getting my points in today.

I'm super super busy at work, so I don't have time for snacks and usually work through my lunch. Thankfully this won't be going on for much longer, but still. I had class tonight so I packed a dinner. It was a sandwich and pretzels because not too much else transports well.

So I had 13 points left when I got home. Uhhh..... I had some cereal and OJ and I didn't even figure the points. I'm so stuffed right now - but I know it wasn't 13 points! I just knew I needed to eat something because that's a LOT of points to be under for the day. And truthfully, I wasn't starving. I probably wouldn't have eaten anything had I been 4-6 points under for the day. Maybe a glass of milk or something.

Welcome Rene'

Chim The same thing happened to me today, when I got home I still had 17 to eat! (I get more for BFing) After I had dinner I was full so I went for a long walk and then had 2- 1/2 cup scoops of slow churned.

The most horrible thing happened to me yesterday. A lady at work told me that I had a good shape for being a larger size! :( That really depressed me that the lady would say that too me. Ughh! I am already feeling bad enough lady, you don't need to rub it in. And second I had a baby less than 6 months ago! I tried not to let it bother me, but I can't. I was depressed all yesterday, and today.

However, today I had Burger King for lunch and it is NOT sitting well (so much grease! ugh!!). We've been quiet!!! I hope that means we're all out working out rather than online. ;) For me, I know it's not though.

I missed WI last week due to travel and then I was just too tired on Saturday to get up and go. I weighed last night and I was up .6.

I am happy with that! While I was at Disney for work, I had 1 small bottle of water (otherwise it was coffe, Coke or beer/wine), I had no veggies/fruit (well, two small salads and a few berries with the dessert) and no healthy oil. I had no time for working out, but I also didn't have time for snacking. My only "down" time I went to the gift shop for DD and then I hung out with co-workers as I didn't want to seem anti-social. Since I've been back, I'm trying to eat better but still sort of blah.

That's totally changing though! Tomorrow I'm planning my workout (have school tonight). Saturday I'm taking DD on a long walk - maybe Sunday too. I'm back to tracking and feeling rejuvinated. :D

Hey everyone. I did go up .6 last week due to AF just showing and stayed that way at WI last night. Thought I woudl of at least lost 1lb but at least I didnt gain

Right now my goal is to lose the rest of the weight I gained back at least by my Bday which is 11/9. I just hope I can really progress and stick it since that is about 5 wks away IT is about 11lbs or so so we shall see.

Disneygirl I know what you mean as that happend to me back in teh spring and have done pretty bad up until about 3 wks ago. It is hard to get back on it but if you put your mind to it you can do it.

I have my WI tonigth and hope to get decent results I was frustrated Tues night cause I went on the scale at home and I was only a bit less than a lb down Usually it is quicker if I do well and I also worked out Sat. Sun and Mon night. Ugh talk about frustrating!!

I was up, but I also didn't track and workout. I know what goes 'wrong' when I gain. At least I know how to fix it. :)

I am motivated to make soups this weekend! My leader gave us her potato soup recipe and ideas on how to make it heartier/less pointy. :D I told DH I was going to freeze some portions and then keep some out. He just nods along. I did promise to make him his favorite soup so he was happy.

Hey everyone
Good loss last week...went to WI on Thurs night and lost 3.6 :D I was def. happy...but today I cheated a bit. I had a small bag of choc chip cookies and a small banana muffin from a mtg which I think is 3 pts. Im so hungry and craving. Guess AF is on her way!

All in all so far so good though and I find myself exercising more too so that his helping I think.

P.S. Seems to be pretty quiet in here lately Hope you ladies are still around :)

Still around, just crazy busy at work ;)

I missed WI last week - long story about forgetting/losing my booklet and not feeling like dealing with it. But, I found it now so I'll be back to WI this week.

I think I psyche myself out every month and end up gaining. In April I had a m/c and prior to that happening (that week) I let myself eat whatever since I was PG. We're still TTC, so every month I convince myself I'm PG right around AF time and allow myself to eat more. I need to stop doing that!! I have begun telling myself that it won't hurt a baby if I am eating right/losing weight because I've got plenty of reserves. ;)

As requested, some soup recipes:

WW Potato Soup - as per my leader
Large bag of O'Brien potato hash browns (hers was 28 oz)
2 chicken bullion cubes - ff/sodium free
Cover potatoes and bullion cubes with enough water to have the water line about an inch over the potatoes. Cook for about 30 minutes or until potatoes are tender.

Wisk 1 packet of country gravy with one cup of cold water. After potatoes are cooked, add country gravy mix to pot. Heat for about 5-10 more minutes.

As is, 1 cup = 2 pts.

If you add veggies (I added a large bag of frozen mixed veggies), 1 cup = 1 pt.

When I ate the soup, I added some cheese and melted it in. I added 2 points, but it was worth it. :)

5 Can Dump Soup
1 can ff refried beans
1 can pinto beans - drained
1 can black beans - drained
1 can corn - drained (can use fiesta corn for a kick)
1 can ff/sf chicken broth

Dump all cans into a slow cooker/pot. Cook for 1-2 hours on low or until refried beans are smooth.

1 1/2 cup = 2 pts. (you may want to double check this; in my experience, this has been true, but if you substitute different corn/beans, recalculate things please :) )

Chimichanga I know what ya mean about work :) Good luck WI this week. You def. wont be hurtin a baby by not eathing too much As long as you are making right choices. ;) Ill have to try that soup once.

I'm still here.. I have fallin off the wagon..But I still go to meetings..LOL

Disneygirl Yum that snack sounds good I dont have really ideas but Ill have to try and thnk of some hehee

Well didnt WI last night Had lousy couple days and got AF yesterday so I wasnt attempting to go on the scale! Hopefully Ill do better this week.

Starting next week the mtg times are changing on thursdays so now instead of 4, 5:30 and 7 they will be 430 and 630 Ugh not happy I wouldnt have time to go home and change so will have to drop off DH and then go straight there but wear very light work clothes on thurs My leader and group is great so dont want to go on sat. mornings (leader does sat. mornings but farther away) but I would still prob miss the first 10 or 15 min of meetings. Plus I have to make sure to get out of work on time. Ugh talk about a downer.

I hear you on the meetings! I was worried I'd have to switch leaders when I changed my meeting days. Thankfully she does meetings during the week, so I got to stay with the leader I love.

I was up... again. :( Talk about annoying! I have to get motivated again. Seems like I'm a broken record with the motivation thing.

Some snack ideas:
- 100 calorie packs/crackers and laughing cow cheese (I like the ritz sour cream and onion crackers with the cheese)
- Pineapple angel food cupcakes
1 pkg angel food cake
1 large can crushed pinapple with the juice

Mix the two together (juice included). The mixture may fizz a bit; that's okay. Spoon into lined cupcake tins. Bake as directed on the package. 1 cupcake = 2 pts. I sometimes include 1 T ff cool whip.... soooo delicious!

Hey, girls! I'm hitching my butt back on the ole WW wagon. It's been a long time since I've been in here, but I've had a lot of success with WW in the past and it's time I start having more accountability for what I eat. I need to lose about 38 pounds to get where I feel really good.

Starting Weight: 183

It's been so long, that i forget what my favorite llunches, etc are. Please share your favorites for inspiration. Also, any nursing mothers here? I see WW allots 34 points- that seems like an awful lot to me.

Good luck to everyone!

I have been doing WW now for 20 weeks and have lost a total of 27.2 lbs. I'm shooting to lose about 20 more which I thought would never be possible. Heck I'll be happy with 15,but I have to push the envelope to 20 lbs.

I am!! I eat ice cream after dinner to reach my points most nights. I have lost about 40 pounds already!!

And yes, you need to eat all your points. If you don't you won't lose enough. It sounds wrong, but if you don't eat enough your body keeps the weight.

I think the new program is more of a change for people that were doing Core instead of Flex? Many people in my meeting were Core people and they were not happy! As far as having to track if you eat two lean proteins a day now, is there a list anywhere of what is in this category?

Is there a thread for WW recipes on here? I know there used to be. I was just curious as I've made some yummy stuff this week I was going to post.
