Who we are:
We are a group of women who for 1 reason or another want to shed a few (or more) lbs. We need the encouragement of others no matter their size or goal and we thrive in an atmosphere where we can all support one another.
Want to join the fun?!?
We welcome one and all. It doesn't matter what diet you are on (if any) or how many miles a week you run (if any) we will all find lots of help and support here.
Feel free to join at any time during the challenge.
It's better to join NOW than to wait until we start a new challenge!

Dieting since: my entire life. About ten years ago I lost 85lbs and have slowly regained it all.

Well, starting this challenge off crappy. :( I don't want to complain too much though after eating at Panera Bread, Famous Dave's BBQ, and Olive Garden (all you can eat pasta bowls). Plus wedding cake on top of that. :eek: OTOH, I also did a butt load of walking this weekend, so I was hoping that would cancel out that horrendous eating. :p

I bought a new scale, and DH and I have sworn off candy until Halloween, so I'm trying to take this challenge seriously. My brother also wants to be lond-distance exercise buddies - still trying to figure out how that will work out. But I'll give anything a shot.

PG-rated - my sister and I are being long distance exercise (weight loss) buddies, we're getting ourselves ready for her wedding next summer. One thing that has helped is that we are now both on sparkpeople and can keep track of our progress because we have access to each others pages. :) It's helping us stay more in contact about it.

PG-rated - my sister and I are being long distance exercise (weight loss) buddies, we're getting ourselves ready for her wedding next summer. One thing that has helped is that we are now both on sparkpeople and can keep track of our progress because we have access to each others pages. :) It's helping us stay more in contact about it.
I don't think my brother would be interested in sparkpeople, since he doesn't need to lose weight - he just wants to get back in shape. What we've decided to do for the time being is set exercise goals and then email each other with regular updates. We'll see how it works.

Whoo hoo! I really needed a loss this week to help motivate me. Also, I bought a new scale that reads tenths of a pound, and I think that will help a lot, because I suspect in the past that I was losing fractions of a pound some weeks, but not being able to measure it was really discouraging.

I'm still beyond thrilled with where I am. Last week I knew the reason I lost so much was because I was very anxious and extremely nervous about meeting with a birthmom for a potential adoption placement. That didn't pan out but obviously I got a nice weight loss from it. I thought for sure this week I'd bounce back to the 149 which I would have been fine with so I'm still so happy with my 148!!

Well I had WI yesterday. It was not kind to me. I don't know if I was retaining water or what... I know I didn't do the greatest but I wasn't expecting this! I know next week will probably not be the greatest either... we are leaving on vacation in a couple hours for 4 days and will probably be eating out each meal. Yikes! Then I'm back on track hard-core when we get back!

This is frustrating because I was sooooo good this week. I think I know why I'm back here though. That 147 and 148 weigh in came after I was super nervous and anxious about various things. So obviously my body was on overcharge. I think I just have to admit to myself that I'm meant to "bottom out" at 149 and be happy with it. Hell-I'm THRILLED with it when I think about where I started out at and where I am. Now my goal is back to where it was-just try to maintain.

Joining! I had my first baby six months ago and dropped all my pregnancy weight in about six weeks which was amazing to me, I gained almost forty pounds. I am exclusively BFing and have completely taken advantage of the fact that I can eat like a horse and not gain weight. So it's been a fast food diet for me these last six months. Just last week though I got a really high mark on my cholesterol levels, that along with realizing that I won't be BFing forever I decided to hope back on the WW bandwagon. I had lost 27 pounds there once before which have all slowly made their way back on. Now that I have a son though I want to set good examples. DH & I have virtually eliminated eating in front of the television! yea us. Anyhow...here's my stats.

Mystikal Yeah, it is horrible. :( I hope that you feel better soon. I was in a group over at SP for bingers, but I had to drop out because it was a daily check-in thing and I noticed that I binged more when I was in the group. :confused: I think it was because I was thinking about it all.the.time knowing I had to check in, if that makes sense.

Binge eater over here too. I was really bad when I was going through my divorce but I seem to have more control over it now. What I have learned though is if I am eating really well for a while and I feel a binge coming on, I just eat something I want but don't go overboard that way I feel like I am not missing out on anything but I don't get to the point of a full out binge fest. I think we should definitely start a binge support group.

I totally have the "oh hell, screw it" mentality too! I can't go very long without binging either but usually McDonalds can satisfy me but there are times I have fast food like 3-5 times a week when I am really feeling down.

I am a late night eater. I definitely think it is a bored thing and as soon as I feel the urge, I get "hungry" and then I have to eat something. I have been doing really good about eating something healthy at night but I wish I could kick it altogether!

This is me too! I've started trying to do something like read, play with DD, or crochet, just becuase if I just watch TV, I'm tempted to eat.
It doesn't help that DH is a grazer, and always winds up eating late at night, adn there I am staring at him while he's chowing down on something.:rolleyes:

My problem is when I get home from work. I can be great all day at work, I'm perfectly fine after supper but when I get home from work out come the chips, marshmallows, etc. Ugh. Every single time on my way home I'm psyching myself up for fruit and healthy stuff and every single time I fail. It's awful. This morning the scale reflected it too (tommorrow is my weigh in) so I'm trying to kick myself in the butt to stop doing that. I'm doing so good otherwise I don't know why I just can't get over this binging when I get home from work!

I haven't been too good at home either. I try to force myself to have a snack before I leave work so I am not starving when I get home.
The one thing I really try to adhere to is to not have anything to eat 3+ hours prior to going to bed. Even if that means eating before DH who would prefer not to eat until 8-9.

One thing that I try to do to prevent a binge is to try to eat in moderation if it's a special event (wedding, vacation, etc). If I'm just at home, I try and make sure that I keep good for me things in the house. For instance, if I feel a binge coming on and I want chips, you better believe I run for the baked chips. Otherwise, DH will be all too happy to walk to the convenient store and bring some (and dip) home (we don't keep regular crap in the house, he can go to buy it since we live so close to a convenient store if he feels the need to eat crap). Sure, a bag of baked chips isn't great, but it's far better than if I binged on a regular bag of fried chips, kwim?
If it's chocolate, well there are some great 100 cal snack packs out there. :)
I just can't resist all of the food around the office. Pizza, Cheeseburgers, Chinese....
Even if I've had lunch, I want it.
