I have been seeing a lot about Spanx and I am considering trying some. I have some concerns and questions though, as I do not like to buy anything to wear without trying it on first.
1. For those of you who have tried them, are they comfortable?
2. Are there any stores in Canada that sell them, or do I have to order them online?
3. According to the chart, I am right on the border between size B and C right now. Is it better to go bigger or smaller?

They're as comfortable as control top hose are. The only problem I notice is that when I sit, and I'm wearing just a satin dress or something, the material of them digs into my butt :p moreso than hose do.
No clue on the sizing as I'm very much solidly one size.

Sorry to hijack.. but has anyone tried the bra (http://www.spanx.com/pls/enetrixp/!stmenu_template.main?complex_id_in=477024.479037. 479037.488919.cat) made by Spanx? I'm debating on whether I should order one or not.

I think that they are decently comfortable. Not my yoga pants, but better than my dress pants waistband digging in. I have worn a pair of Spanx pantyhose AND a power panty together to smooth out the post-partum lumps (and fit into my dress pants) before.
I'm wearing a pair of the power panties from Assets (cheaper version of Spanx distributed by Target - made by the Spanx company).
Sorry, I haven't tried that bra. But it looks like the company has put out more products - I must go shopping!

Not in the least. I felt like I was being suffocated, but that could have been that the sizing wasn't right.
2. Are there any stores in Canada that sell them, or do I have to order them online?
I've seen them in a lot of major department stores, so I'm sure you'd find them at those places in Canada too. I ended up ordering off the Spanx website because no one had the kind I was looking for.

This was my problem. I emailed the company to ask what was best, and they said go larger. I did, and I swear the thing was still too small. Like cutting off the circulation in my legs too small. I know it's supposed to be a bit tight to suck you in and all, but I was so, so, so uncomfortable and didn't notice a bit of difference in slimming either. Maybe order a B and a C to see which fits you best. The Spanx website does take returns IIRC.

I think they are pretty comfy. I would definitely go a size up.
I don't think they are that they are cracked up to be, though. Maybe it's just because I have a lot more to smooth out and hide?:o

I have..I used them when I was pregnant. I am a D cup and it would have NEVER worked for me in my non-pregnant state. I was just so desperate for comfort that it worked when preggo. It has zero support.

Dang it! I was afraid someone was going to say that. I'm also a D cup and this is one of those times I wish I had a smaller chest. I sooooo hate underwires!

What type of Spanx would you recommend for slimming the post-partum mid-section and hip area? BIL is getting married next month, and if I have any hope of fitting into anything without looking squishy or super lumpy, I need to find something to help tame down the chub. Any suggestions?

I tried Spanx once and had a really bad experience. They were ok comfortable, but the legs both started having several runs that first night. I sent them to their customer service, and they never even replied.

Thanks for the replies! Based on your responses, I would say that bigger is definitely the way to go.
I am thinking about getting the power panties, rather than the full-length pantyhose. But would you wear underwear under those? I know they have a cotton crotch so they would hopefully be breathable, but if they were worn as underwear, then they would have to be washed after each use. How washable are they? I'm not planning on buying a different pair for every day of the week, so I think I'd wear underwear under them.
Also, I'm thinking that, while they would smooth areas to prevent bulge, the buldge would just move to the end of the product, right?

The ones I bought have a hole in the crotch. I wear them with underwear. I need all the support I can get.

I love my Spanx! Obviously they're not as comfy as wearing sweats, but I don't find them to be particularly uncomfortable. They smooth everything. Definitely get the Higher Power (high-waisted) for the most coverage. As far as sizing, I think their chart is way off, since I've heard so many people complaining about sizing. Definitely get a size up. When I bought mine they didn't have my size in stock so I decided to try the next size up (which according to the chart should have been WAY too big), but they fit perfectly.

I found out that the Canadian supplier is The Shopping Channel and that there is currently a sale on the 2-pack of power panties, so I ordered those. But there is a 30-day return policy, and if they keep rolling down (as I have read in product reviews), I might return them and get the high-waisted ones.
