My husband got me one sort of like this from Brookstone (mine is the older version) that is mostly spillproof - ie. if I knock it over on my desk, a drop might come out, but I wouldn't toss it full into a tote bag -

What I really like about it is that it keeps coffee hot for hours and hours if you keep the lid closed.
However, my coworker has the OXO Goodgrips LiquiSeal Travel Mug:

(comes in a variety of colors)
and if/when I get a new mug, I will get this one b/c it actually is spillproof - you can even turn it upside down and shake it and not a drop will come out. Plus it is $8.99 at Staples, but they also have them many other places like Target, etc and I have even seen them at Lowe's.

I don't drink coffee but my ILs are BIG coffee drinkers and they swear by this mug (http://www.greenmountaincoffee.com/prdNonCoffee.aspx?Name=NissanTravelTumbler&X=WEBB&Y=7372&source=nextag&c1=shopping_engine&kw=Nissan_Travel_Tumbler) made by Nissan. Now it's all dh will use too.

Not sure how well it works but I plan on getting the "Tip & Sip" which has an option to cool the coffee coming out. No more burned tongue!

These all look good! I have one from Eddie Bauer, I think, that I've had forever. It may leak a little out the top, but there's a decent sized lip that keeps it from spilling over the side. Believe it or not, I think Linens n' things or BB and Beyond might sell them too.

I bought one of the stainless steel ones from Starbucks when I was on crutches and needed to be able to throw my mug into a bag. Their mugs seal insanely tight. I could turn it upside down and shake it without a spill.(which is actually how I checked its seal before throwing it into my bag). It kept the coffee hot about 2 hours and warm most of the day.
