Thought I'd start a new GA thread for the new season which begins September 27th in the same timeslot it was in last year.
I also found a good spoiler from Spoilerfix (they already have lots of spoilers up for the first 4 episodes). Posted in white-
A new season of Grey's Anatomy and some fresh new spoilers! Many of these will be in the season premiere September 27th, but some will obviously carry over for a few episodes, and some are rather obvious from how we saw the plot going in the season finale. George decides to repeat his internship, meaning he'll be with all the new interns including Lexie, Meredith's half sister. No word on which new resident will have either George or Lexie, but we know it won't be Izzie. The rest of the former interns are now residents, and are having issues with having to report to Callie. Meredith joins Cristina on her honeymoon before they both return to Seattle Grace two weeks after Burke walked out on Cristina. And yes, Burke has resigned. And Meredith uses the time away to consider her own relationship with Derek. Bailey is still pretty upset with Richard for choosing Callie for Chief Resident and is struggling to find her place on the hierarchy of the hospital. Richard takes Derek's advice and decides to return to his position as Seattle Grace's Chief. And he and Adele get back together. After Addison leaves, Mark tries to befriend Derek again. and it sounds as though his relationship with Meredith will also play a role in this. One of the interns from last season's season finale has also snagged a spot as a recurring character on Grey's Anatomy. Candice Afia will be returning to Grey's Anatomy. Joseph Williamson (who played the hot intern in the season finale) will be returning as well. Of the remaining two interns we saw last season, neither are returning as this season's interns.-
Here's to hoping this season is better than last year's!
I also found a good spoiler from Spoilerfix (they already have lots of spoilers up for the first 4 episodes). Posted in white-!Sounds like some good stuff could be happening. I bet the Christina/Mer thing would be a hoot - but we'll surely not see that part.

I'm bummed that Addison is leaving. I really like her character and Kate Walsh. Though, I was excited about the prospect of the size of the cast shrinking like it was in season 1, but hate that it seems to be growing instead! I'll probably watch Private Practice and hope they've toned down the cheesiness since the "pilot."

AMEN! I'm cautiously optimistic for this season because last season I could barely contain myself and it sucked so bad! I was almost turned off to the show for good! As it is now, I'm no where near as excited as I was last year. If the first few episodes don't rock like the first two seasons, I definitely won't be staying up to watch it. But I like the "girl in the bar" clip, it give me some hope.

No promos because it's the top show on TV. Housewives needs help and they HAVE to plug their new shows. I was ticked as well because of Ugly Betty, which I think is the best show on TV.

Me too!!
I'm really trying not to "think" too much about the little things that bug me! Like...why exactly were our favorite interns assigned to Bailey, a 4th year resident, but now the new interns are being assigned to 1st year residents?!? And the whole Chief Resident thing is still bugging the hell out of me b/c Callie was a year behind Bailey and never should've been in the running for it, but whatever!!
eta: I guess technically they're 2nd year residents now, since their intern year is their first official year of residency...But still...doesn't change the discrepancy!
Natasha

Great sneak peeks! I love Sandra Oh's hair like that--cute! I feel bad for George, it's just not the same having him with he new interns. And, I'm sorry but Lexie managed to bug the sh*t out of me already and it's not even a full episode! I didn't like how she interrupted Mer when Mer was clearly busy to tell her who she was. Like, hi, how is Mer supposed to concentrate after that?! Of course, if she didn't tell her that, it wouldn't be dramatic. :p ;)

ITA! Her mother was right when she said she had no chance in hell of winning. But guess she was wrong.
at least she was humble enough to admit that she didn't expect to win. I'm assuming that's why she was there with her mom and not her fiance Josh (unless he was out touring).

I don't think there was anything wrong with the mom comment, I thought it was cute. I was annoyed the second time she mentioned her name, though. I understand saying something the first time, but not the second.

Just to play Devil's advocate, I think Katherine Heigel is an incredible actress--ever since that scene with Denny where she totally flipped out and begged him to cut the Lvad wire. I don't think she deserved it less than the other two, even though I love them too!

True, etoile, she was good but that was 2nd season and if I'm not mistaken, these awards were for this past season, which would be 3rd. IMO, all she did this past season was walk around like a beaten dog and act all googley at George. Woo hoo.
I actually like KH and Izzie. I think she is a good actress and worthy of the nomination. I think she gets picked on because a lot of people don't like her character.
That said I was surprised that she won out over all the other actresses. I wasn't happy with a lot of the winners.

A bit of dirt from this week's Ask Ausiello (http://www.tvguide.com/ask-ausiello):
Question: Can you please give us Mer-Der fans some good news? Will they work this out? — Nicole
Ausiello: Well, after Shonda and I completed our little off-the-record Private Practice powwow, she did the unthinkable: She gave me some actual, honest-to-goodness, steaming-hot scoop concerning Grey's embattled supercouple. "I want to be clear that Derek loves Meredith," she said as if to put the debate to rest once and for all. "Derek loves Meredith more than anything and I can't imagine Derek going anyplace else other than Meredith." And as if to butter me up even more, Shonda handed me the biggest gift a Grey's fan could ask for: a death certificate with Gizzie's name on it. "A lot of people aren't sold on Izzie and George," she acknowledged. "I think the mistake that everyone makes is that we are telling you Izzie and George are the love story of the century; they're not the love story of the century. And when other people find out about Izzie and George — remember, people don't know about them yet — other people might think that's not a good idea either."

Some more spoilers from tv squad (http://www.tvsquad.com/2007/09/18/what-to-expect-in-season-4-of-greys-anatomy/):
# George will redo his internship at Seattle Grace. He'll end up being one of Meredith's interns.
# Callie will find out about Gizzie. It is unknown how she'll react to the news but we know she will act and react! Elsewhere, Callie will struggle with the fact she is now Chief Resident. Some of the other doctors, especially Bailey, will find it difficult to report to Callie.
# Lexie will not hook up with Derek. Rumors say that she'll get with Alex instead. Lexie will be one of Cristina's interns.
# Lexie will try to at befriend Meredith. The latter is rumored to patch things up with Derek.
# Richard will return as Chief of Surgery. He'll also get back with Adele.
# Burke's mother will pay Cristina a visit in order to get her son's belongings after he quit his job at Seattle Grace (for those who may have missed the ton of articles we posted about Isaiah Washington over the summer, he was fired from Grey's and won't return as Burke, even for one scene). What Mama Burke won't get is half of the wedding presents since Cristina will try to trade them for surgeries!
# Alex's Jane Doe from last season will be back for one episode.
# Gilmore Girls' Edward Herrmann will appear in three episodes as an intern. Yep, an intern. It's more than likely that he'll either a) transfer, b) quit the program, c) be fired from the program, d) die.
# Mark, aka McSteamy, will get more screen time and storylines this season. He will also get some lovin'.
And some MAJOR scoop...but it's from Nat'l Enquire (but...last year they were right!...so, ya never know!)...
Grey's Anatomy Season 4
Meredith Grey's love affair with Dr. McDreamy is back on...George O'Malley starts his internship again and an injured deer gets treated in the ER.
Welcome to S4 of ABC's smash hit Grey's Anatomy. The Enquirer has an exclusive sneak peak at the upcoming plot twists on TV's top rated hospital drama.
One big surprise unfolded off camera when a skunk wandered onto the set while Dr. McDreamy was popping the question to Meredith Grey played by Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo, according to the ABC insider.
"Derek Shepherd was telling Meredith: 'I want to grow old with you...I want to spend the next 108 winters with you,' when a production assistant noticed the skunk," the source said.
"The timing was hysterical. Patrick was right in the middle of this big emotional scene, but everyone's eyes were focused on the skunk!"
After a few minutes, crew members chased the skunk off the lot "without triggering a major stink." The source cracked.
The new season finds a humbled Dr. George O'Malley who failed his exam during last season's finale now repeating his internship under Meredith's supervision. New regulars on the show include Richard Keith as Mitch Greenberg who interns under the supervision of Izzy.
That's all there basically is, it goes on to say Chyler Leigh joins as Meredith's sister who we would remember as the bar girl who hit on Derek. The interns get a dose of reality when they deliver a baby on the first day and the strangest patient is a deer.

I think my favorite part about the spoiler is the part that says Cristina trades wedding gifts for surgeries. Love it!
when I notice a bunch of spoilers, I just highlight the whole page and don't worry about it. Otherwise, things tend to be spoiler heavy only three times throughout the season - beginning, November & May sweeps.

Latest spoilers from Ausiello:
Question: I would love you as much as Patrick Dempsey if you would tell me something about Meredith and Derek's relationship! — Jenny K.
Ausiello: Did you see that big Grey's cover story in Monday's USA Today? In it, both Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo basically confirmed that there are no major developments with Mer-Der in the early part of the season. "Meredith and Derek are sort of treading water," Dempsey said. Added Pompeo, "All of our scenes are the same — we're either breaking up or having sex." She then teased that the star-crossed lovers will have an on-call-room "date" in an upcoming episode. Onetime spoilerphobe Shonda Rhimes, meanwhile, teased that one couple will get divorced this season, "and not the one people are thinking of." Hmmm… I was thinking George and Callie. Does that mean I'm wrong?
Question: Grey's Anatomy spoilers would be appreciated. — Jerry
Ausiello: The show is adding a new female character, described as a "girl-next-door type" and a potential love interest for one of the show's docs.

09-27-2007, 07:53 PM
Did Izzy get behind-the-teeth braces or something? In the stairwell scene with George, her teeth seemed strange.
Also, something about Chyler Leigh is bothering me. "You delivered a BA-BY today!!!" Maybe the actress just had trouble with that line, but it seemed really goofy and un-Grey's-like.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed! I saw it earlier in the episode and asked DH if her teeth were always f'd up.
I don't think that the interns from last year would have been wowed over delivering a baby. I certainly don't think they all would have gathered around to hear the story.

This episode was eh but I'm still glad Grey's is back.
I'm glad George said something about the note cards. Even if it was just to Lexi, it needed to be said. I knew he was really pissed about it!
The Izzie/deer story was so blah. I cannot believe the stupid thing jumped up and ran off after she shocked it. But...I am glad she told those interns what's what at the end!
I hate hate hate that Callie is the CR. I hate it so much. It should be Bailey. I guess I get the Chief's reasoning or whatever but I just don't like seeing Callie in that position.
I hope Callie doesn't get pregnant.
I actually like Lexie. I thought what she did for George was really sweet.

Thanks Mrs. Pell! :) What was the preview for next week (though I'm sure it will be posted here soon!)
I thought this episode was ok, but for some reason I had a lot of trouble with the whole concept of them having interns. Kind of weird. And the thing at the end where Lexie kept saying "on your first day as an intern". Yeah, we get it, you're protecting him. Stupid, because eventually it has to come out and then they'll both look like idiots. I loved Christina in this episode--she seemed much more...I don't know...cheerful or soft or something. It was like Christina-light. :)

I totally did not notice this, but randomly, I just started reading my In Style from this month--KH is on the cover. THe first line of the interview is her saying she has to take out her Invisalign! So maybe in the scene in the stairwell she forgot to take it out for filming? She said she got it to fix a crazy tooth. So there you go. :)

I guess I'm the minority that actually liked last nights episode!
Loved Christina! Calling her interns 1, 2, 3, and 4 cracked me up. It was so her!
I did think that the whole deer thing was kind of silly, but loved that Izzy told her interns what's what at the end!
I'm with everyone else in hating Callie as CR! I get what the chief was saying, but she SUCKS! Funny though how no one respects her!
I was actually so over Mer and her melodrama, but when McDreamy was talking to McSteamy when they were scrubbing in he made so much sense! It makes her actions understandable and bearable.
My DVR also cut off when Izzy opened the door so I guess I'll have to watch the last minute or so online. I made sure to change my DVR last night to record and extra 2 minutes!

I thought the whole deer thing was totally lame. Couldn't they have come up with something else to show her interns that she's a doc. who lets her emotions get the best of her?
I'm really sad to say that I got a bit restless during this episode. I didn't think it was bad, but it wasn't "OMG Great" like the first two seasons. The ending was very promising, so I hope things pick up from here.

I thought it was so-so. I do like Lexie.
I also hate Callie at CR - she is not equipped to be CR at all. I do understand what the Chief said to Bailey, but someone else should be the CR.
I hated the end with M and D "breaking up" and then having sex. Stupid.
But I keep on watching, because ultimately I do love the show.

It was so so for me too. It definitely picked up in the second half though. The whole deer story was ridiculous. I was even flipping channels during those scenes! Izzy irks me to no end.

Looks like I'm in the minority here. I really liked last nights episode. I think the reason I liked it so much is because I didn't have a lot of expectations since I didn't like last season's final episode. I kept thinking that the show wasn't going to be that good with George as an intern again, Meredith and Derek sort of breaking up for no good reason and then Burke leaving the show. But, I was pleasantly surprised.
Loved the part where George throws his fist in the air and yells, "I'm an intern!" Loved Christina's interactions with her interns. Loved how Meredith and her half sister kind of look alike and have some of the same quirks. Loved the conversation between McDreamy and McSteamy. I'm getting tired of the whole Meredith/Derek thing. Either be together and be happy or break up. I did like the scene where she is about the leave the hospital and Lexi is on one side of her, Derek is on the other side...kind of like two seasons ago where the vet was on one side and Derek was on the other. Instead of choosing one of them she ran to help Izzy (this is when Denny died). This time she went with Derek. I thought this was very telling because last season's final episode Derek told her that she is always putting him on hold. Last night she didn't put him on hold.

I'm another one that missed the end because of TiVo.
I thought what Meredith did to Lexie at the end was so rude! She just walked away-didn't even say "Can I talk to you later?" WTF? She's so pathetic. I'm really over the off and on again of her and McDreamy. blech. It does not endear them to me more if that is the goal.
Cristina-still hate her.
I love Izzy now matter the story, although I wish she wasn't in love with George.

One word: boring! Izzie drove me right up the wall last night.....I thought that whole "speech" to the interns after the deer incident was pathetic and poorly written. I am so OVER her pining for George, and pissed that he came to the house to proclaim his love for her. Pahleeze....
I also did not like how Lexi's little monologue sounds so much like Mer; get her a different writer, please!
I will watch again, but it is not holding my attention :(

For a season opener... it was rather boring. I also kept flipping back and forth between CSI.
The Izzy storyline was such a waste of time, IMO. And I am not feeling Izzy's attitude towards George... does she think he has to drop everything and run into her arms? He is married and I really think he sort of cares for Callie.
And I still would like to see the writers develop Meredith more as a character. Very tired of her "running" away from issues and people. Get a friggin' grip! Why was it so hard to even say hello to her sister. And how many times will we see her stand at the door and have two people call her name??? Has anyone heard of the term "excuse me" when you see someone speaking to someone else???
I would have to agree with the rest - absolutely hate Callie has chief resident but for some reason I do not feel that it will last much longer.
We will see how the season turns out...

My thoughts-
The deer storyline was pathetic. I wish she could have proven that she's not a "dud" some other way.
Please don't let Callie be pregnant and then have George leave her. I wish he would have never married her. He did it for all the wrong reasons.
So glad to see Meredith not put Derek on hold this time, but it was rude of her not to say "well, I'll see you later Lexie."
I'm hoping Chief named Callie the Chief Resident instead of Bailey because he wants Bailey to take his spot here shortly.

Hmm... Some of you have been pretty harsh! :)
I actually liked this episode, it wasn't one I would say I LOVED, but after last season it was a good change. It felt a little more lighthearted. I do miss Burke, he was such a great character and Addison too. I would love to think they'd bring her back if that other show doesn't make it.
I loved the end where Alex admitted he missed Rebecca and Christina said she missed Burke. I'm kind of hoping that is foretelling that Rebecca might be back - Alex needs someone around like her.
George and Callie better not be pregnant - that is the worst marriage in the histroy of television. Ugh. But I still dislike the George/Izzy storyline - I just think they'd both be better off with someone else.
Will be interesting to see where this show goes this year, so many changes it is all kind of up in the air. I hope we get a better feeling of what is going to happen to Bailey and I hope Meredith starts to resolve some of her issues - maybe having her sister there will force her to take some big steps. I really liked the Derek/McSteamy conversation though.
The deer thing was lame, but I'm glad Izzy told her interns off and let them know they will have to work harder since they're on the bottom. I think Izzy has a lot of proving herself to do after the last couple seasons.

ITA w/ this. But I generally keep my expectations pretty low; I actually didn't hate PP either, eh.
I think Izzy and George are weird together. I HOPE the way the storyline goes is that they get together and he gets rid of Callie and then they (George and Izzy) decide they are better off friends, but I FEAR what will happen is when George goes to tell Callie he is breaking it off, she will tell him she is pg and then there will be yet more angst.

I should've posted right away, because now I forget most of what I wanted to say but I do remember this: what's up with all the hair changes? There's supposed to be an elapsed time of like two weeks. Alex goes from a shaved head to 3 inch slicked back hair in two weeks? It looks stupid, too. Callie's hair was straightened, Derek's was shorter, and Christina was wearing French braids? Have we ever seen her wear French braids? Don't know why that bothered me so much, but it did.
The show was decent-not great, but not terrible. It wasn't very exciting, I guess.

Just putting my thoughts down about last nights epi:
1) So glad Grey's is back!! and think it's funny that this thread was so long even before the first episode.
2) Hate Lexie - can you say self absorbed? She is the new kid on the block and needs to act like it. Also, she's so concerned with what's going on with herself that she doesn't realize the emotional death blow her father laid on Meredith, first when he ditched her with her crazy mother, and then when he blames her for his next wifes death. I think in this situation she's got to be the one with the patience, cause at least she had the unconditional love of both her parents. Meredith got nothing.
3) Hate George - he needs to fall off the face of the earth. No matter that he married Callie for the wrong reasons, he married her. Not only that, but he cheats on her. Not only that, but then he makes her second guess herself in their relationship, which is making her second guess herself outside of their relationship (ie as CR), which causes her to do a crappy job at it. And not only that, but he then goes and professes his love to the half crazy stalker who he cheated on his wife with. After all that, I hope that Callie isn't pregnant, and that George and Izzy end up together because they both suck and deserve each other.(gosh I love this show :p)
4)Love Bailey - Can I just say that Bailey is the shizznit?!?!? Gosh, if they ever let her go I will definitely stop watching this show. But I think they need to show more of her this season and give her more personal stories too. She was hilarious. And I was with her the whole time. I guess I can see what the chief was talking about. But isn't CR a distinction that you want on your resume for hospitals to see that you are the best and can be a leader and such? By taking that away from her, he is taking away her ability to look like the best on paper, and I'm not happy with it. I hope that Callie eventually says that she can't cut it and then Bailey gets it.
5)Love Christina - Even when she is at her worst you can't help but love Christina. She was so her this episode.
6)Wish Izzy would drop off a cliff. WTF with the deer?? I could have sworn that they were supposed to be people doctors, not vets. And who is she to tell that kids dad when and when not to teach his kid a life lesson?!? I would have told her to get off my truck and let that be that. And I was gagging at her stalkerish tendancies with George. They really do deserve each other. She is crazy and he is a wuss.

I really liked this episode as well and I'm so glad it's back on!!
My co-worker was also mentioning to me that the characters looked like crap last night - I didn't really notice until I read the posts above.
The deer thing was kind of dumb and not very logical at all, but it was still very Izzie.
Lexie annoys me too, I think it's just her demeanor. Her personality, so far, is surprising to me. I figured she wouldn't be as nice/well-intentioned or outgoing.
Callie being a wet noodle wasn't really her personality, she usually seems more aggressive and assertive, but her being disorganized seems just like her.
Why wasn't there any mention of Addison being gone? I forget, was this already covered last season?

You know, come to think of it, I don't think they said anything about it on Grey's. They did transition her from Grey's on the first episode of Private Practice, though, so perhaps they are treating that as sufficient. Still seems weird to me, though.
I liked this episode. I was very hesitant about whether I'd stick with the show after how disappointed I was in the third season finale, but I'm hanging with it.

Actually, I thought someone mentioned Addison being in LA - maybe Bailey after Derek asked her to join him for drinks? Something along the lines of - "why, because you have no one to talk to now that Addison and Burke are gone?"
But yeah, I was still hoping she'd be the one barging in to deliver the baby, instead of George.

Too funny-I said something similar to DH like "Poor George has to deliver the baby because Addison's gone.:(" Which really didn't make sense to me, because wasn't Alex training under Addison? Re: an earlier spoiler:
I totally think that's it.
I was actually thinking about this last night - I used to really like George until he got together with Callie. Ever since then, he's been annoying me.
I think that something huge is going to happen with George...probably in November since it's sweeps. All of this craziness/manicness started when his father died...it's all gonna explode in a big way soon.
Um... anyone else see something wrong with using a defibrillator on the deer while in a truck made of metal. With the kid and everybody else milling about the truck. Never mind that she was using it on a DEER!

I think I'm in hte minority but I liked the episode...I mean for the first episode of the season, they have to give you somewhere to go right?? What I took away...
~Bailey rocks, always has, always will :D
~Derek sticking up for Meredith was great...he hasn't done that in a long time and I liked what he had to say about her.
~I hate Izzy...It's always all about her...what does she mean where has George been? Maybe with his wife? Trying to cope with starting over.
~I liked Christina in this episode too, and agree she is a MUCH better resident than intern. It was also probably the first time I actually believed she loved Burke.
~I wish Callie would go away, I have never liked her.
~Lexie was annoying with Meredith, but I liked her when she was talking with George at the baby viewing area, and when she got all the interns to admire what George did...I thought it showed a lot of selflessness which most of the characters on this show don't exhibit.
~I am so on the fence with Meredith...I get that she has had a tough year and has issues but I also feel like she is a crappy friend and girlfriend, and just because you have issues does not give you the right to abandon the people in your lives.
~The Meredith between Lexie and Derek at the end was so Deja-Vu...we need fresher wriritng people!
~I love George...I just think he's got a tough road ahead...who the hell wants to start over like that?
~People did look weird...I usually find Karev hot but the looked weird with long hair, Dereks hair was weirdly cut, Izzy had a bad fake tan...
And lastly to shock you all...I don't hate the idea of Izzy and George together...I like him so much more than her and she drives me crazy, but I think she actually loves him, and he loves her and may be they might be good together?

--Not sure if someone already said this, but I just know that Callie is going to turn up preggo, thus killing off the Gizzie storyline. It will be even more painful now that George has admitted to Izzie that he loves her as well.

Okay, I just don't get why Mer is dark and twisty. Can someone possibly recap the McD/McS conversation? She is driving me nuts with the McD thing, though. Who could dump him???
Lexi way bugs me. I can see her digging on George in the future. That whole, "and on your first day" thing was so annoying. And I agree with whoever posted earlier that it's bound to come out that George is repeating his intern year, and then they'll look stupid. How can that stay a secret?
I do miss Burke's character. For however awful IW may be in real life, I really liked Burke. And I miss Addison, too- I didn't see PP but I'm going to try to catch it tonight (and also Pushing Daisies- I'm excited for that show!0
Bailey is my hero and I want to be her when I grow up. I heard somewhere (here?) that her character was the only one that the producers had an idea for look-wise: a blonde, white woman, or something. So wouldn't have made the show as watchable as it is with this Bailey.
I don't really get the feeling that Izzie loves George as much as she is making herself think she loves him. Does that make sense?
All in all, however, I'm still hooked.

I was trying to find a clip of the Derek speech to Mark, but found a couple of sneak peaks instead. I'll keep looking though. He basically stood up for Mer and said that her family is screwed up and she has issues and he understands. She had pinned everything on Cristina and Burke working out and when it didn't, he knew she thought that good things don't happen to people like her. And if she needs to push him away for a while, he's okay with it.

Yeah I'm going to throw in my support and say I miss Burke too. I wish Shonda would reconsider and recast Burke. IW may be a jerk but the Burke character presents lots of possibilities. I loved his interactions w/ George too. It's a shame really. I think Burke would have worked well this season to help George pull himself together. Aww the missed possibilities!

New Ausiello spoilers...
Question: Did Shonda Rhimes mislead everyone? Is she reviving Gizzie instead of killing it? It sure looked that way in the premiere and the preview for this week's episode.— Christine
Ausiello: Oh, Christine. My poor, sweet, naive Christine. You should know by now that those promos only tell half the story. Take it from someone who has seen the entire episode — that's me! — Gizzie is dealt a setback this Thursday when George chooses… um… let's just say he makes an important decision that sets the stage for Episode 3, "Let the Truth Sting." Keep in mind, Shonda strongly hinted that Gizzie wouldn't start to come undone until news of their fling made its way around Seattle Grace. I believe what you witnessed in last week's opener was the snuggle before the s**tstorm. Another scoopbit: Derek also makes a decision at the end of the episode, and it's one that'll make all you Mer-Der fans swoon.
Question: Can you please provide some Grey's Anatomy scoop? Preferably on whether or not Cristina will get a new love interest.— Susan
Ausiello: Before she can get a new love interest, she has to purge the old one from her system. And she'll do just that this Thursday when Mama Burke drops by Seattle Grace to administer a dose of tough love. And Cristina isn't the only person she goes all Dr. Phil on. As I teased in this week's Ausiello Report vodcast, Diahann Carroll takes Meredith to task for the "selfish" and "inappropriate" thing she did in last May's season finale. And don't even think of asking me for a hint. You know full well what thing I'm referring to.
Question: I hear you've seen this week's Grey's. Please tell me it's better than the season premiere. Izzie tending to a deer? WTF? — Carol
Ausiello: OMG, I totally forgot to tell you the most important thing about Thursday's installment: It's fraktacular! If you were longing for the good ol' Grey's, I'm happy to tell you it makes a triumphant comeback tomorrow night. It had all the snap, crackle and pop of a Season 2 episode. And speaking of triumphs, Chandra Wilson gives a performance that has "2008 Emmy Reel" written all over it. I know it's early, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that supporting-actress trophy is hers to lose.

I think she's probably referring to Meredith hitching her own happiness with Derek on the fact that Burke/Christina will marry. Remember she was obsessed with that and we were all screaming one doesn't equal the other. Mama Burke probably is going to tell her to find her own happiness! :p

Ausi, don't worry. It wasn't that it was an "oh my God!" type of spoiler. It was really just a little character interaction. Ditto this. He loves her, but he also realizes that if he wants to keep her in his life, then he has to move on on her terms. I know that's probably really selfish on Mer's part, but since he does love her he's willing to do it.
Lexie is annoying as all get out. She's like a pesky fly that wont go away. And I think in order for her and Mer to get along, she's going to have to realize that her dad is not the great guy she thinks he is. That he hurt Mer really bad, and that Mer can't see their shared biological bond through this guy as a good thing.
Izzy can go suck a duck. I am so done with her. Which is a shame cause I used to like her character, and felt so bad for her after Denny died. But does anyone see a pattern here? She obsessed over Denny (a patient) in an inappropriate manner, and then killed him. Now she is obsessing over George (a married man), again inappropriate, and she is killing his relationship with his wife.
George....has no backbone, but I am still hoping against hope that he will redeem himself.
Callie is becoming just a bit too whiny. But I think she really is trying, at being CR and in her marriage. It's just that everyone is seeing her as second best right now (the chief and George). No one is routing for her, and everyone is looking for her to fail. This has got to take a toll on a person.
I wonder if, now that all Burke's stuff is gone, Christina will get some closure and try to get over Burke.
All in all, pretty good epi.

Very funny how Mer kept telling Cristina that Lexie was hovering again. She really was a pesky little thing. I think Lexie needs to back off and give Mer some space. She has to understand that Mer didn't grow up in a happy little world like she did.

Probably one of the few that actually like Gizzie, but I can't take the weekly, we're on, we're off. This week he's all set to tell Callie, preview for next week, he's yelling at Izzie that he's not doing it. Season's barely started and I'm sick of the yo-yo-ing.

LOVED the whole episode last night...just the pace and feel of it had me thinking of season 2 which I thought was great.
Bailey is awesome...even though she should be CR and not Callie, it makes for good drama no? And I love how she's sorta confiding in her old interns now that she isn't their boss.
Alex was awesome...good for him for stepping up and giving that guy a piece of his mind. Now if he would just lose the bad hair and poet goatee I would be happy.
Sloan is totally growing on me too...I just hope he doesn't screw it up by sleeping with someone again.
I felt so bad for Derek at the end of the episode last night...that desperate look on his face. I hope Meredith wakes up soon and just commits already...they could be so happy.
Izzy is bugging big time, but I actually like her when she's just with George. She acted like a middle school girl when in the OR with Callie.

Much better feel to the show tonight - like old Grey's.
I'm having a hard time with Callie still. I was thinking about it and I really do think Sara Ramirez is a good actress, I just don't think the charachter Callie fits her very well. She needs to be playing someone more independent - someone similar to Bailey but lighter hearted. I don't know - I just don't like her playing whiney, married Callie. It was better when she lived in the basement, slept with Sloane and wasn't married to George. :p
I LOVE Christina - I know she annoys the crap out of some people but I think she's great. Still calling her interns by number - devastated by the fact that the appartment she shared with Burke has been emptied. Loved her making deals on her wedding gifts. She and Bailey are the two best written characters on this show!
I'm kind of bored with the Mer/Der story line and think they need to really just focus on some of the other characters for awhile. Then come back to Mer/Der with something big later on.
George and Izzy are killing me. I really like both of them but they have totally screwed up their lives and it is making me !
I thought the Meth storyline was told well and showed a lot of the dangers associated with making Meth and being addicted to it. Good for them for going there.

Grey's New McLoveInterest? Or McSis?
Lauren Stamile (of The WB's Off Centre) has landed what is being described as "a major recurring role" on Grey's Anatomy — specifically, playing opposite Patrick Dempsey, though sources won't confirm for the Hollywood Reporter that this newcomer is the new object of McDreamy's affections. Perhaps another McSister?...

Seeing Bailey as an "equal " of sorts with the other residents is kind fo weird. That whole exchange with Mer, *asking* not telling her to work in the clinic, was...just...so unlike Bailey.
(I was almost in tears every time the meth baby cried and was screaming. And I think it was more because I was thinking in real terms, a child that young doesnt act, so he really was crying, and it just killed me - he looked so scared! The mom off stage must have just been dying to swoop in and hug him!)
You know, when we first met Callie, I loved her character. I thought she was confident, saucy and independent. Now, not so much. I want the original Callie back (but I doubt that will happen).

I kind of got this feeling last night that there is a connection with Mer accepting Derek's love for her to accepting her sister. It was almost like she is pushing her sister away the same way she pushes Derek away. While her sister is annoying, she just wants to get to know Mer and seemed so sad at the end. She does not know the demon dad that Mer does. So, I think that Mer will never accept Derek until she deals with the demons in her past. I don't think this can be solved in one season. Alas, I am getting tired of this season.

Just watched the DVR from Thursday. I liked this episode and am in agreement with PP about what's been said already. While I do like that it's lighter and more "Grey's" than last season, I still don't have this..."stop everything, curl up on the couch and eat ice cream don't talk to me I waited all week for this" that I had the whole first and second seasons. I'm sure y'all know what I mean! :) I do like the softer Christina though. Hate Lexie, hate Gizzie (though honestly if they just got together already without the yo-yoing someone else mentioned, I'd be ok), can't stand Callie as CR. I don't know if it matter IRL or not, but it seems like the other residents (Mer, Christina, Izzie) seem more well-rounded as doctors whereas Callie is already really specialized as an orthopedic surgeon. Like Bailey seems to know a but of everything and would make a better CR, even if she's a surgical resident. I'm not sure if I"m explaining this well or not. :p
I agree about Sloane needing a friend. And what is up with them not even mentioning Addison?! I wonder if they're waiting for her new show to tank and they'll bring her back and she can say she was on a break or something. It's just so weird that they mention Burke (who left under not so good circumstances) and not Addison.
Also, does anyone else notice how George is off by himself doing procedures alone WAY more than the other interns?? Bailey said how the interns in the clinic weren't to do anything themselves. Yet George is performing the code for the meth guy, etc. How unrealistic--especially since none of the other interns are supposed to know about his repeat status. I just think it's ridiculous that they keep that part of the story, yet he's allowed to roam free.

They briefly mentioned Addison being away in the first episode. I think since she wasn't really attached to anyone the way Cristina/Burke were (she didn't leave anyone she was in a committed relationship with when she went to LA) it hasn't needed to be written in.

I finally got to watch the last episode tonight.
I really miss the old Callie. The confident, sassy, sexy, independent Callie. I just hope George just tells her soon and gets it over with.
I really enjoyed Derek and Sloane's interactions in this episode and the fact that Derek admitted to him that he has problem and had Sloane tell Mer he couldn't make their "date". As much as I want Derek and Meredith together, I kind of wanted to see him not catch up with her.
LOVE Christina STILL calling her interns by numbers. Hilarious!

I agree that George/Izzy together is awful, but I can't see them turning his into a gay character at this point...it would be a little tricky to explain in a reasonable way after three years of pretty darn straight behavior. On the other hand, I wouldn't mind seeing George hook up with Meredith's sister...it would certainly annoy the crap out of Mer, which I would enjoy after all her whining and relationship waffling.

I still think Meredith is being very rude to Lexie. It's not Lexie's fault that their father left Meredith. Meredith's anger is really misplaced. This girl needs some serious therapy-plain and simple. Instead of recasting Burke, they should bring on a therapist as a new character!
Bailey rocks. I think the fact that she is not chief resident is actually working in her favor and making things even more interesting.
Like others, I used to love Callie, but not so much anymore. She's barely tolerable. Anyone else notice they're making her less attractive, too? She looked almost hideous in this episdoe. So drawn and tired and just ick.
Izzie/George-ugh. I wish Denny had a long lost twin brother or something that turned up looking for Izzie. I'd rather see a far fetched storyline like that than Izzie and George together or not together and loooooonging for each other.

Re therapist. Wasn't the smashed up face woman (Rebecca) supposed to be cast as a therapist? That was what the rumors in the press were saying last year. Maybe she can come back and analyze Mer.
What Mer is doing to Lexie isn't good but it is understandable. There are people out there who will take out their feelings of frustration/anger towards their parent(s) on the other sib/step-sib. In Mer's eyes, Lexie is the favorite child. That's why she's resentful.

I certainly don' think George needs to "become gay" simply because the actor that plays him is ?!?!?!?? There are tons of straight actors playing heterosexuals (and even vice versa) on TV--it's called ACTING.

I just hope George just tells her soon and gets it over with.
He was going to in the last episode and then she begged him not to just yet. In other words, she knows but just didn't want to hear the words out of his mouth. So this time SHE's actually delaying the whole thing.

Hmmm...really? I don't read rumors or spoilers, so I don't know. That would be interesting, though!

I hear what you're saying, but I don't care.:p She's still wrong and it's annoying the hell out of me! I don't care about her past or what wrongs have been done to her, she's still being very rude. Her explanation to Lexie of why she didn't want to talk to her was probably the nicest (ha) thing she has said to her so far!

Re: Callie-I think they're making her look like crap b/c we're going to find out she's pregnant. I looked just like that in my first trimester with DD. Drawn, pale, tired and blah! :p

I agree, it's a little insulting. This is season 4 and George has been established as a straight character.

Next thing you'll say is that the characters aren't real!
It confused the hell out of me when I saw Dr. Burke advising Jamie Sommers in Bionic Woman! It all makes sense now!
You know, when we first met Callie, I loved her character. I thought she was confident, saucy and independent. Now, not so much. I want the original Callie back (but I doubt that will happen).
They did the same thing with Addison. I saw the replay of a scene when she first came to the show and it wasn't even close to the same character.

Yep, I hope Callie kicks her ass! (I don't care if Izzy grew up in the trailer park or not.)

In all of my hatred for Izzy, I forgot to mention that I really, really liked Meredith tonight. I thought she was awesome with both Lexie and Cristina.

Um...George told Callie that he slept with Izzie. The end.
It was sort of ho hum for me.
Why did Alex do that to George? That wasn't too cool.

Bailey also went to Callie and said that she would help her, basically.
I liked the conversation Derek had with Sloan and the Chief after the surgery. Shame on them! :p
I also liked Meredith tonight... and I liked how she handled Lexie. It kind of bugged me last week how she wasn't willing to talk to her, and I'm glad Bailey called her on it.
Izzie really bugged me. She just needed to give George some time. Seeing the previews for next week, it looks like she's expecting a fight out of Callie. I bet you Callie will tell her she's being an idiot and to get over herself. I'm so hoping now that George won't leave.
Looks like they're turning Alex into the old a-hole that he was. I can't believe he did that to George!

I agree. What was up with that? I like nice Alex. I know I'm in the minority, but I still like George.

I totally agree. After working to make Alex seem nice lately, that was a total sucky thing to do.
I am definitely not as into it this year. Last season it was one of the very few shows I actually watched "in real time", but now I DVR it and fly through it.

For me this year, it just feels like they've really lost their "umph" and that it's heading down the road of all the other medical drama shows. :(

I was so irritated at Alex calling out George like that!! I still like George; I think he's a bit troubled and still not over his father's death and has made poor choices, but I don't think he's an a$$hole. Alex, however, was an a$$.
I reeeeally miss Addison. She added so much dimension to the show. Her absence is painfully obvious.

I would have to agree with these comments...
I was really relieved that George finally came out and told Callie about the affair... now that nonsense of hiding is over. Hopefully, George and Callie can have an open discussion about that marriage that they rushed into... umm - did anyone notice that they are still living in the hotel ??
I absolutely love Miranda and was so glad to called out both Meredith and Callie on their silly antics.
Okay - were George and Alex in a fight at some point in this episode and I missed it? Because if not then WHY in the world would Alex have called George out like that? Just to be an asshole? Makes no sense.
That episode was alright. There was one line that I remember made me completly laugh out loud ... and now I can't remember it. Annoying!

That was such an asshole move on his part! It was a little jerky, even for Alex. I wonder if they're going to go into why he did that or if he just did it for the hell of it. I don't recall any reason he would have to be mad at George. Maybe he was feeling jealous because they all thought George was so smart and were gushing about him?
I loved how Derek chewed out the Chief and Sloane after the surgery! That sure busted their bubble fast!
I also liked Bailey & Callie at the end. I want to see a more aggressive Bailey so maybe now if they are "working together" we'll get some of the feist back.

I think the reason Alex was rude to George was because of the conversation Bailey had with him about the pecking order. He felt
