My husband and I are looking to get a Yorkiepoo, which is a cross between a Yorkie and a Poodle. Does anyone have any info on these dogs? They are obviously not purebred, so its hard for breeders to say how they will be, but I was wanting personal stories anyway!
I have heard WONDERFUL things about poodles, and my parents have a Silky Terrier (like a yorkie, but silver) and she is very smart and loveable. But thats about all I know! Any input is welcome! We are looking to adopt in early November, but the puppies will be born at the end of this month!
Here are some adorable photos of them as puppies:

My friend has a Yorkiepoo. She has no complaints.

As hyped up 'designer mixes' I hope you don't plan on spending an outrageous amount of $$$ on one. You can get the same mix at a shelter or a rescue for WAY less than I see them being advertised for ($2000-$3000  ).
They are absolutely adorable as puppies but there's absolutely no way you can predict ANYTHING (temperment/looks/ect) about mixes when you get them at such a young age.
Please don't be offended by what I had to say, I have 2 yorkies and love the breed so it pains me to see people breeding mixes of my beloved breed :(

Thanks May27JnJ for your quick response! I am glad to hear your friend enjoys her dog!
I totally understand what you are saying, PinkMartini! We would never pay that much for a dog, especially a mixed breed. I have found them for around 400, which is reasonable for our family and what we were planning to pay for our pet.
I was just wanting personal experiences about either yorkies, poodles, or yorkiepoos. Do you find your yorkies to be really hyper? I mean, jumping alot and barking alot? That is what we are wondering about. We were going to get a dachshund because they are a great breed, but they have some health problems sometimes and we were wanting to venture out and try something different, as I have had two doxies before. (One passed away and the other lives at my parents house now that I am married).

Wow $400 is definitely reasonable.. I've never seen them priced that low before
My 2 are both VERY different from each other. My male is the most laid back, lazy, easy going dog I've ever met (other than my couch potatoe mastiff). He's very loving, wants to be at my side 24/7. He rarely barks - only when someone's at the door.
My female is VERY hyper, she wants to play 24/7 and run around with the other 2. She is very friendly and will sit being petted for as long as you'll pet her but then she's off to explore. She also barks more than my male does, when someone's at the door or if she's outside & wants to come in. Neither of them are 'yappy' though.
As far as health issues go with yorkies (not so sure about poodles) they are prone to egg-Perthes disease, patellar luxation, portosystemic shunt, retinal dysplasia, tracheal collapse and bladder stones. 3 ladies I know with yorkies have had to have surgery on their male yorkies due to bladder stones this year alone  Thankfully my 2 haven't had any health issues but with a mix you just don't know if they're going to get the best of both breeds or the worst...

I have a 6 year old female yorkiepoo, and I wouldn't trade her for anything. She's a great lap dog, she's personable (but not overly annoying - if someone is over, she wants to just sit in their lap if they allow it), she does well with our toddler, she rarely barks unless someone is here or we're outside and she wants to come out with us. She's not real hyper and even as a puppy, she didn't get into a whole lot of messes (other than the great hershey kiss debacle!). She loves to cuddle and will sleep at my feet or on her pillow next to the bed.
I highly recommend the breed, as I don't know anyone with a yorkiepoo that hasn't been very happy with them.
**ETA - at full grown, she's between 4.5 and 5 pounds.
*** I paid $240 for her 6 years ago - when she was 8 weeks old.

I have a Borkie, which is a Bichon/Yorkie. He is adorable. Not too hyper and I love him to bits. I paid $250 for him at a reputable breeder...I also bought another dog at the same time which is why he was a little less. They are usually about $300-350 I think.

I know I'm probably being annoying, but wanted to jump in and just ask if you'd consider rescue rather than purchase. We are big poodle fans (have two miniatures) and our second boy is a rescue--the sweetest thing. We got him when he was a "teenager"--still in the puppy stage but a little more controllable than a tiny baby. There are so many good poodles (and I am sure yorkies and yorkiepoos) that need a good home.
When I am walking my rescue I get many questions about him, as he is really cute and full of it, and I'm always proud to say I rescued him :)
That said, if you have any questions about poodles specifically, two of them basically control my life, so ask away ;).

Thank you all for the input!! We are really excited about our new addition, which won't be until this fall. I have heard great things about poodles, yorkies, and actual yorkiepoos so I think we have made a great choice!
Medako- do you have any pictures you can post? Id love to see them! That goes for any of you that shared about your dog, I love to see pics!
Wendalah-
Thanks for the input about rescue. We have thought about it but I think this is a better route for us. But I would love to see pictures of your poodles!
