Since my back has been giving me problems lately I have decided to try and strengthen my core muscles. I have always heard good things about Pilates, but I have never really gotten into it. I get kind of bored. Can anyone recommend a good Pilates DVD that really works and is a bit more fast-paced?

Thanks! :D

I like the dvd's by Living Arts (the instructor I prefer is Ana Caban). They have a lot to choose from. I've done the beginner, intermediate and AM/PM. The intermediate is very challenging. I like the am/pm routines come on one disc with a bonus "energizer" routine.

I like Pilates. I have the Windsor tapes but it's really hard for me to do it at home, no motivation. I liked taking classes that followed the same routine but my current gym doesn't have it.

If you want to see what it's all about, try downloading a free 15 minute class from www.powerpilates.com - go to downloads and there is a free 15 minutes class. You'll have to download it and go through a "checkout" process but it's free.

As for pilates - all I've done is the one class from there. I've only done it partly through once - simply cause I just downloaded it tuesday and haven't had time. Otherwise though, it's cool to see what it's like before you buy. Oh - and if you want to see a 1 minute preview of any - go to www.collagevideo.com :)

Also - I have a lot of lower back problems that have improved since I purchased an exercise ball - I stretch on it for a while each day/every other day and it feels SO good!! :)

**edited to add that I just went and did all of the 15 minute class - I have to admit, there were a couple of moves I couldnt do all the repeats on - my abs are so sore, but then again I'm terribly out of shape and flabby!
