Seeing What Happens
07-28-2005, 06:14 AM
WHO ARE WE ???
A group of CC ladies who are Trying To Concieve(TTC) without temping(taking your temperature before rising out of bed every morning), and "charting" these temperatures on a grid. This group of ladies are just "Seeing What Happens". We do keep track of what Cycle Day(CD)we are on and perhaps note any changes in our body. We would love to hear about what you are going through. We understand the trials, tribulations and many doctor appointments that you are facing on this journey into parenthood. No question is too "stupid", asked too often, nor is any "vent" that you may have unnecessary.
This thread may move quickly at times, but don't be afraid to jump in on the last page. You don't have to read through the entire thread before you join us. 1 in 10 if you make love only once 4-5 days before ovulation
1 in 30 if you make love only once a month

Congrats Charissa!
OK...so we're officially in the 2ww...yuck. My SIL called last night to tell us that they are pg...I'm happy for them. Jealous, but happy. They had been trying for a second for a while, so I am really glad that they are finally pg again. I just can't get over how jealous I am. It's terrible...i feel so bad about it. It seems like pregnancy stuff is everywhere...test commercials, Baby Story, Birthday...oy. Oh well...got to keep in mind that we pretty much just started here. For some reason, I don't think that this is our month. I think that we probably got the timing right, but I just don't have the vibe that we caught the egg. I guess we'll see in about 10 days.

Hi - just checking in with the new thread. I am currently on CD6 after stopping BCP, so I'm interested to see how my body reacts to not being on the Pill any more. I decided to start charting - no harm in knowing what's going on in my body, right? :)
I hope everyone has a good month!
Alioop12345

Emermel- Keeping my fingers crossed for you that you guys caught your egg. I know what you mean about feeling jealous... Hope we can be pg again together!

I am in the 2ww also (blah) 4dpo to be exact. My temps are staying high so we shall see :crossing fingers & praying hard:
Congrats Charissa
Good luck to everyone that will be testing this week

Congrats to Charissa!!
I'm also in the 2ww, 3DPO. I'm still wondering if we got the timing right. I don't really know since this is my first month off of BCP. Plus I'm not even charting.
Good luck to everyone that gets to test this week. :)

I *think* I'm in the 2WW. My last cycle was so long (almost two months) I hate to say I am for sure or not. I am fairly confident I O'd though. :)

I *think* I am in my 2WW as well even though my chart never detected ovulation with my temp. Because CF is more important (and I have been waking up lots during the night, but not temping till 6am) I think I O'ed on CD 18.
As a newbie, I am still trying to figure it all out, any thoughts would be helpful, my chart is in my sig :) Thanks!

Hi everyone! I'm on CD 13 but since I'm not temping, I'm not sure when O will be. I actually got one of those saliva scope things from Target based on a friend's recommendation (she's GIVING BIRTH AS WE SPEAK, as I called the hospital and just got off the phone w/her husband who said she's pushing now).
For those who have never heard of these (I hadn't until she told me and she swears it works as they got pregnant the first month she used it), it presumes you're ovulating when the dried saliva appears in "fern" patterns. Anyone using this? It's easy to use, but I think by the time it ferns, it may be too late to BD. I checked this morning and it's not ferning yet, but there are some variances (not the normal pattern) so I may be O'ing in the new couple of days.
I'm planning on starting to BD tonight and going for the next few days! :)

CD1 here.
I am not surprised but disappointed just the same.
Good things about CD1:
Maybe DH will be fully onboard this month
I can have wine this weekend while friends are in town
I might be able to lose a few more pounds before getting pg
Of course, there's the one obvious bad thing...I'm not pg :(

Thanks EVERYONE!
So many ladies in the 2WW, so exciting. I hated the "waiting to O" phase, besides thd BDing, hahaha.
emermel - i KNOW what you mean, last month when i was getting BFNs, it seemed like everytime I turned on the TV, it was "A Baby Story" or a Johnson & Johnson commercial, haha.

Checking in. CD 15 and I am temping but that's it. My temp has no rhyme or reason and I got a little crampy last night so I think it's the big 'O' time. Good luck in August!!!

Congrats Charissa!!
Sorry you don't know what's going on Shanna. I wish I could help but I am pretty clueless myself. Just hoping that the confusion ends in a BFP for you soon.
I am currently in the 2ww too (at least I think). I haven't been checking anything this month so I am not sure but due to increased (TMI) discharge around CD 14 I think I O'd then. I have been having cramping off and on but nothing strong. Other than being more moody than normal on Saturday I feel no different. I am on CD 27 but I don't think that I will test for at least a week if AF isn't here by then. I have a feeling she will be showing up sometime this week. At least I am really busy this week so that will hopefully keep my mind off it.

Don't read if TMI bothers you.
Ever since I had Jake, I have at times at trouble with leaking urine. Gross, I know...but what can I do about it? I am on CD2 or 3 (can you tell where this is headed?). Dh and I were standing in the kitchen a while ago and I felt a big gush. I thoguht, great, I just peed on myself. I ran to the bathroom and I bled thru my tampon (wich was only in for an hour), my undies and my pants. I passed a clot the size of my tampon and then two smaller ones came out. What the hell is going on? I have terrible cramps. I called my doctor and he said he would work me in tomorrow, that this bleeding isn't normal. I really don't want to miss work since I only work 2 days a week and especially since I have an appt Monday. What would you do? Do you think it's ok to wait til Mon if the bleeding lightens up a bit?
pacificbliss
08-01-2005, 07:12 PM
Alioop12345- Are you still having heavy bleeding? I don't think you should wait until Monday. I would definitely keep the appt. tomorrow. If you are still bleeding a lot and especially if you start to feel light-headed or dizzy you might consider going to an urgent care clinic. I hope you're feeling ok.
Alioop12345
08-01-2005, 07:23 PM
Thanks Pacificbliss- I think it's eased up some. I am not light-headed or dizzy....just really tired. I probably will go to bed now even though it's only 8:30. I just feel like such a baby

I have a question for you guys who have been at this a little longer than I. I think I O'd today (based on CM), today being CD 14, but DH & I were unable to BD today because he left to go on a business trip. We BD'd Saturday & Sunday (CD 12 & 13) & won't be able to BD again until Wednesday (CD 16). Do you think BDing the day before you O is good or are you suppose to BD on the day that you O? I know sperm live for days but I just am not sure if we timed everything right. Please help!
One last question... on the pregnancy tests listed on page one, does anyone know where you can buy the AimStick? And how early does that one predict pregnancy?
Thanks! I'm looking forward to chatting with everyone. :)
it's a bug
08-01-2005, 08:43 PM
I'm another one who *thinks* I'm in the 2ww...I'm cd 17. My temp was 95.9 yesterday and 97.5 this morning. Is that weird for it to spike that much? This is only my second month of charting so I don't have much to compare it to.
kmmommy
08-01-2005, 08:48 PM
I have no idea what's going on with me. I'm on CD 8 today. AF is usually around for 5 days - this month 3 and I'm very crampy and achy in my lower ab region. This is an usual feeling for me so if it doesn't go away soon I think I'll visit my OB/GYN.
Ericka_Jarett
08-02-2005, 05:01 AM
Can't Wait: It's best to BD a few days to even a day before you O, have read better than even if you BD on O day.
The AimStick tests you can buy online here: http://www.babyhopes.com/pregnancytests.html I used 1 Answer test and than 4 digitials with my last pregnancy.
it's_a_bug: I had a huge dip as well in my temp. 96.8 from 97.3 the other day, but a few days before that it was 96.7 from 97.5 Can't help you with the answer to why or what's up, this was only my 2nd real attempt at charting.
I'm CD 22 (ovulated this day last month)
Chimichanga
08-02-2005, 08:21 AM
Question: if I think I O'd, can DH and I still BD in case I didn't? Would that mess anything up?
Paranoid - maybe. I aced sexual health in school but I didn't pay attention (silly me) because I wasn't going to have sex until marriage, not high school...

Emermel ~ Don't feel bad about being a little jealous. I feel the same way. It's really hard to see other couples get pg. I've felt this way for a long time even before we started trying because I'm so desperate to have a baby. I think it's natural to feel a little jealousy.
Sunshine ~ I hope your temps stay up!
Gina, Jen, Melissa, Holly ~ I hope your 2WW brings you all a BFP in the end! :D
Smiles ~ Your BD plan sounds good. That's pretty much our plan too because I'm not temping. We'll just BD a few days during what should be my O time.
Pacificbliss ~ I hope this month is your month! Try to keep positive and have fun this weekend!
Looty ~ Thanks for the support. I'm getting a little more cramping today and had a tiny amount of pink CM this morning so I think AF is finally here. It's good in a way because I just want to know where I stand. At this point I'll just be happy to get to start a fresh month of trying. :) I hope the witch leaves you alone this month!
Alioop ~ That sounds like it could be something serious. I'd probably be freaking out but I haven't had a child yet so I might be more prone to freaking about something like that. :P I'm glad it subsided at least. How are you doing today?
Welcome Leslie! I hope your stay here is short. :)
Good luck to everyone this month! :D I hope we have lots of graduates.

Ok, I'm actually not "seeing what happens" until next month, but I had a question for you all, since you're more experienced than me. :)
Why do some books and people suggest BDing every other day or 2 days? What's wrong with BDing like 4 or 5 times a day? I mean wouldn't you want to have as much sperm as possible? Sorry if that sounded gross or graphic, but you know what I mean...hope you ladies can help. Hopefully, I won't see any of you in this thread next month ;)

Good question. I would think you would want as much sperm as possible, as well. But maybe we're wrong .

Hi MrsSmith! Can't wait until you start "seeing what happens"!
From what I understand (which isn't much!) is that you want to wait a day inbetween so your man can build up his supply of sperm. You want as many viable sperm as possible.
With that being said, a book I have entitled, Getting Pregnant, suggests BDing every day around your fertile time. He says that studies show that the more you BD, the higher your chances are for conception.
So go figure...

Hey Leslie!
I have that same book, Getting Pregnant. Then there is another article that my friend's dr gave her that says every other day. That's why I was a little concerned. I mean, it just seems logical that BDing as much as possible would lead to success...I'll give it a try...next month :D

They say to BD every other day because only strong sperm will get to the egg. If you BD 4 or 5 times a day the chances are slim you would actually get any sperm reaching the egg because they would die before getting there. The egg is actually is tough and they have to push through it. You can BD every day if you want to. Easiest way to get pregnant though is (I know heard a million times and not really want to hear it) just to relax and not specifically try. That's what we did when we conceived Rebekah. I only put in the days we BD and when I finished my cycle, ended up getting pregnant on the 1 specific day we BD.

Well, AF is finally here. It was nice hoping but I figured I wasn't pg this time around. On to next month. I'm hoping for a Taurus baby. :D
I still don't quite understand the BDing guidlines since this was my first month but I think we'll try every day for about 4 days during my fertile time this month and maybe every other day or every 2 days during the rest of the month to him "active". ;) I did read that BDing every day for a while might dry out your CM so you wouldn't want to BD too much if you are worried about that because sperm needs the EWCM to survive and make it to the egg.

Hello ladies!! Thought I'd subscribe to the August thread with you all.. I hope our stays are short tho ;)
I'm on CD 27 or so, having some light cramping and breast tenderness but nothing un-AF normal so I'm not going to POAS until friday. I just don't want to be disappointed again like I am every month.
My bloodwork after my IUI said my hormone levels were good, but not able to tell if I was pg or not (only 6dpo at the time of the test) so here I am in the 2ww with almost everyone it seems!
Threadmistress, can you update that I had a IUI #1 w/ trigger shot on July 20th ?? Thank you!

Not to be graphic (TMI ahead****), I'm really concerned about this BD every other day thing because that is WAY less than normal for us. I mean, every day is just a tad bit less than the norm. So, if we just stick with our normal routine, you're saying that the good sperm won't get to the eggs and we should have less sex?

Erika--Thanks for the information, I didn't know that! As for us, this past month we went ahead and BD every day during my fertile time.

About BDing every day vs. every other day - I talked to my dr. about all of this in May and she gave me lots of info to read over. But she did tell me to go ahead and BD every other day starting on cd 10. That way she said we would be sure to have some sperm in there by the time I released the egg. I guess that if you wanted to keep BDing every day (since that is your routine) then I wouldn't think it would hurt anything. Have fun and just take it one day at a time!
Thanks for your thoughts on my weird spike, Erika_Jarrett...this is all pretty new to me so I'm just "seeing what happens"

DH and I had a long talk yesterday. After much discussion, we've decided to put off TTCing for the time being. Probably for 6 months or so (I hope no longer). There are some financial and house issues we need to take care of first.
So, Madame Threadmistress, could you please remove me from the "members" list?

Just checking in to see how everyone is doing. :)
Here's what I know about recommendations on how often to BD:
Every day should be fine unless you DH has a low sperm count. If his sperm count is low then they recommend every other day. This is all b/c men have a limited amount of mature sperm ready to go at any given time. So if you overdue it then he will run out of mature sperm and will be ejaculating immature sperm that is not capable of fertilizing the egg.
Just how often is too often? I don't know. A lot depends on the quality of his sperm. 4-5 times a day starting several days before ovulation is probably too much. Sperm live for about 3-5 days and the egg for only 24hrs. So ideally you want mature sperm ready and waiting for when the egg arrives.

Wow! Lots of good information around here. Well, I got to give my two cents, since there is all kind of information pulling both directions, I think there is huge factor that books don’t take under consideration, and that is LUCK. We are pretty new at this too, but the first month TTCing, which wasn’t quite the first month since we were suppose to wait for a month after going off the BCP before started trying, we didn’t know what the hell we were doing, so I think we only Bded twice during my fertile time (one around CD13 and one CD16). Last month I thought we had the perfect Bding timing, I mean we were all over the place, we Bded everyday during my fertile time and we covered until CD16, I think I O’d around CD13. Well apparently that didn’t work for us, this month I think is not going to be our month either. I wanted to do it every other day, but last night we were exhausted and fall asleep on the couch, so we missed a day there, hopefully we can BD tonight and keep doing every other night until Saturday (CD16). There is so much going on that at night we are just exhausted, so I am not even that optimistic that we will be able to do it. That pretty much puts us into September… I guess that would mean a June baby, which I would rather that than an August or September (not sure how I feel about going through the whole summer PG… I am getting bloated just thinking about it!), but this things can’t definitely be planned, so we will take whatever we can.. right?
On another note: I feel awful… I mean I am not stressing too much about the whole TTCing, not yet, or so I thought. We are having a party on Saturday and yesterday a friend of ours responded to the invite and said her, her husband and “the future baby” will be there, basically she is PG and I feel awful, I have to recognize the first thing that came to my mind was “why couldn’t that be me?”, instead of being happy for them :( … am I an terrible person?
I don’t understand because I am really happy when I read on these threads of people getting BFPs, why shouldn’t I be happy for her? Now that I think about it, I am but at the first second that was not what I had in mind  .
I hope everyone is doing great, can’t wait to see some BFP around here!

babywish I know exactly what you mean... my cousin had her baby last year around this time & I was so bummed. I mean, I was happy for her, but I was like, "Why can't that be me??" It made my baby bug that much stronger. But I realized that we had a plan & weren't going to TTC until August 2005 & it made me feel better to know that I would definately be more prepared financially than my cousin was.
Since I'm new to TTC, I haven't yet had the disappointment of someone else getting pregnant before me while we are actively trying. I know that will be hard to take.

Leslie, I didn't mean to shock you...I'm just trying to have the best chance at catching that eggie. So, if we have to cut back to once a day or every other day, I'm willing, it'll be tough, but I'm willing ;)
cocoa_femme, I'm sorry to hear that you have to postpone TTC, but you know that it is for the best. You will be so ready when the house and finances come together. Am I still going to see you at the GTG?
Babywish, I kinda know how you feel. Even though I wasn't trying, one of my friends got a BFP in May and they started trying in April. I was happy for her, but also hoping that it's that easy for me. Plus, since we've talked about TTC, she knows that we're starting this fall. So, if I'm not preggo right away, I don't know what comments she might say and I don't know how sensitve I might be about it. Hopefully, I don't have to worry about that though.
Gosh, I am spending a lot of time in this thread. Maybe we should go ahead and try this month...LOL

jnshanna There is another thread on here about green tea... I think under the pregnancy section. I think the majority of people said to take it a little before you O. But make sure you stop when you O because there is some danger in it concerning folic acid absorption.
mobox The book I have concerning pregnancy (Getting Pregnant) says that you should exercise in moderation. You don't want to do anything too major & you definately don't want to just start an exercising routine right before you TTC if you hadn't already been exercising because it might mess up your cycle. The author of that book says to do things like walking, bicycle, low impact aerobics, lifting weights, etc.

I found this at babyhopes.com...
In the past, women having difficulty conceiving might have been advised to limit their caffeine intake. But recent studies suggesting that stimulating drinks, and specifically green tea, might boost fertility. In a study conducted at Kaiser Permanente Medical Care Program of Northern California in Oakland, researchers found that women who drank more than one half cup of caffeinated green tea every day doubled their odds of conceiving. No significant association was found for other caffeinated beverages; therefore researchers concluded that a chemical component of tea other than caffeine might have been responsible for the increase in fertility.
Because this conclusion opposes earlier findings that caffeine can inhibit fertility, the researchers acknowledge that their results may be attributable to green-tea's association with other lifestyle factors that might enhance fertility such as smoking less, eating less fat and regular exercise.

On the same website they sell something called Fertilitea (cute) and this is what they say about the green tea component:
Green Tea is a powerful antioxidant that enhances reproductive health by repairing the oxidative damage that occurs naturally as the result of environmental toxins and aging. A study from the American Journal of Public Health found that drinking 1/2 cup or more of green tea daily doubled the odds of conception per cycle. Due to the inclusion of Green Tea, there is a very slight touch of caffeine (equal to just 1/25th a cup of coffee).
I had never heard anything about green tea and conception so I had to go look. I google searched "green tea and conception" and those were the first two links.

So I am pretty sure I am out for the month… moving into September. I don’t chart or anything so basically there is no sure way of knowing when I O, but going by my last two cycles off BCP (30 and 27 days) I think I O around CD13, which was yesterday. DH and I have been beyond exhausted with the move, everyday there is something to do, and not to mention all the issues we are having with Comcast and the phone. Anyhoo is been a hell of a month (not even a month yet). That combined with the fact that we only BDd once on what could be considered my fertile time makes me realize that this is not our month either. I was planning on BDing last night but once again I fall sleep on the couch. This kind of makes me sad to be honest with you, my family never had issues getting PG, not only that but they got PG the first month of trying. Make me wonder if I am going to have issues down the road. At the same time I can’t say anything to DH, because we had agreed that we wouldn’t obsess (sorry buddy too late :( ). Hopefully next month we can BD every other day and see what happens. I was really thinking that I was going to be an April mommy, but I guess we can’t plan this stuff. I am not sure how often I am going to be on the boards, or at least post (I know I will be reading to keep an eye on your girls). But I think I need a break, even though I have not been taking it too bad until now, I have the feeling that when AF shows in a couple of weeks it will change, hopefully it wont be too bad. The reality of the situation is that I am 32 (almost 33) and I am just scare of the whole age thing. I know nowadays there are people getting PG on their forties, but the question is how long did it take them?. Anyhoo good luck to all of you and hopefully we will be seeing a lot of BFP this month!

mobox I exercise every day (without major fail - usually skip friday nights) and we still conceived. I did bikram yoga on a regular basis before my 2WW and I only stopped b/c of the heat, if I did regular yoga I would have continued, otherwise I either run/walk for an hour or do the stairs for an hour.
That may not work for everyone, but, I can tell you this, I think the day of conception, I exercised right after BDing. But I guess every woman is different, I am also VERY regular, like to the minute practically :).

This from BabyCenter.com
Question: Will green tea help me get pregnant?
Answer: If you enjoy green tea, there's no harm in drinking a cup or two a day while you're trying to conceive. But don't expect it to dramatically increase your odds of getting pregnant.
While compounds found in green tea offer some protective health benefits, research hasn't shown that they boost fertility. Made from unfermented tea leaves, green tea contains chemicals called polyphenols. Experts believe that these chemicals act as antioxidants, substances that protect the body's cells from the damage that can lead to cancer and other diseases.
One small Stanford University study of a nutritional supplement containing green tea extract, chasteberry, folic acid, and a host of other vitamins and minerals showed promising results.
In the study (published in the April 2004 issue of the Journal of Reproductive Medicine) a third of the 15 women taking the supplement were pregnant after five months, while none of the 15 women taking a placebo had conceived. But the study is too small to say for sure that this supplement improves fertility. And the researchers don't point specifically to the green tea extract as having a significant affect on fertility.
In fact green tea contains caffeine and tannic acid, which have both been linked to fertility problems and an increased risk of miscarriage when consumed in large amounts. But before you toss that teapot, keep in mind that most green teas contain significantly less caffeine than the black variety or coffee. Although this varies depending on the brew, an average (6 oz) cup of green tea contains approximately 30 milligrams of caffeine, compared to a cup of black tea, which has about 40 milligrams. A cup of brewed coffee has about 120 milligrams of caffeine. To be safe, it's probably wise to limit your caffeine intake to less than 300 mg a day.
If you've been trying for a year or more without success (or 3 to 6 months if you're over age 35), or if you're having irregular periods, your best bet is to see a fertility specialist.

Babywish ~ I wish you the best of luck and hope to see you back here soon. It's completely understandable that you need a break. I've only been TTC for a month and I already feel overwhelmed with emotions.
Thank you for the info Pacificbliss and Leslie. :)
Re: excercising, I read that it's okay to keep with your normal routine with most women but it's not recommended that you start a new routine at the same time you are TTC. It's too much of a physical change I guess. For me, I think ideally starting an excercise program a couple months or more before TTC is the best scenario if you haven't already been on one. That was my plan but it didn't exactly work out that way. ;) :o My laziness kicked in and I've been terrible about keeping up with my daily excercise. Hopefully I won't pay for it too much in the end.

Thanks for all the info everyone! Here is just what I'm doing in regards to both:
Green tea--At my work we have this machine that brews pretty much anything, coffee, tea, etc. So, even before we were TTC I was already drinking green tea. Our machine has two kinds so I just alternate. I think both are low in caffeine, plus I like the way they taste! :)
Exercising--I try to exercise but its hard with my work schedule. I was exercising at least 1 or 2 times a week sometimes more 1-2 months ago. Since then it has gotten less. I try to just limit how much I eat to maintain my weight and health. I went to my Dr just prior to us TTC and got all my bloodwork, etc. done. that way I know where I stand.

I'm trying to exercise every day; but 3 times a week is more like it :) I figured if we don't get PG this cycle, the exercise is good for me anyways. I have decided not to lift weights/do work with the medicine ball around the time I've O'd though. *If* AF comes, then I'll start working with the weights since I know it's safer - at least for a few days.
Trying not to obsess about this too much, but I just realized my bbs don't hurt. Normally they do - even for AF. I wonder if that's a *sign*. I know PG symptoms are different for everyone - I'm grabbing at straws here ;)

OK, this may be TMI but I am curious if anyone else has experienced this. On the morning of CD 15, before O as far as I know (since I'm not charting), I suddenly saw bright red blood. Not as heavy as the 1st day of a period, but enough to surprise me. I couldn't figure it out and thought perhaps I had torn after BD the night before when switching positions a bit roughly (plus there was some pain when urinating).
The flow lessened so by the next day (yesterday, CD 16) it was darker blood, dried, and a few clots like the 4th or 5th day of my normal cycle. I went to see my doctor because I was so scared I had torn during BD. She found no tears and said the spotting (which RARELY happens to me, like twice my whole life) could be miscarriage, pregnancy, or stress-related. I don't know what it could be, as I already had my period CD1 and this was only 14 days later. I don't think it's a miscarraige, unless I ovulated super early. And I haven't been that stressed.
It's so weird and I basically left with fewer answers than when I went in. Anyone have any idea? I think it's way too early for pre-implantation spotting, right?

To everyone who posted about Green Tea – thanks for the info, sounds like drinking small amounts each day wouldn’t hurt!
Exercise - I used to be a die-hard runner, but I’ve slacked off this year. Sounds like it wouldn’t be wise to pick up my old routine now.
Babywish - I can understand why you want to take a break, this is only my second month and I’m already worried about when/if it’ll happen for us. I hope August goes by quick for you!
Chimichanga - Here’s hoping the lack of soreness is definitely a good *sign* !
Dan’s Girl – I’m so sorry about the IUI and AF. I can only imagine the disappointment. :( Thinking of you.
Smiles33 – I’m sorry about the mysterious spotting, wish I had some insight as to what it could be. How wonderful though, if it was implantation! :)
mel7dog – stay positive, you never know! Good Luck! :)
My update - today is CD5. DH has a business trip next week, he’ll be gone for two weeks (CD8 thru CD21) -- not good for catching an egg when my cycles seem to be about 27-29 days. I keep going back and forth on whether or not I should drive up to see him (his hotel is about 2.5 hours away) or just relax and take this month off. Hmm…

I know my doctor said I can continue doing "normal" things until I get a BFP, but I'm so worried that if I *am* PG then I might be hurting it. I haven't caught up and I dont' have any time really but I just wanted to update on myself.
This is copied from my journal:
Hey ladies! I just wanted to give a quick update before I leave to meet my mom. I was thinking that I was going to start yesterday because I was cramping and such but nothing happened until right before I went to bed. I started spotting but not much more until this morning when I really started.
I can actually say that I am not disappointed at all but I think that is because we weren't really hoping to get pregnant until August or after. This month was the extra month of being off the pill to see what my body would do and let it have more time to regulate itself.
I hope everyone else has more luck than me. :D

Just curious...but is anyone in the 2ww feeling any differently? I'm not feeling any differently yet (just 5 days in), but I'm curious because I know some women have said they start having "symptoms" within the first 10 days or so (bloating, nausea, etc)...

I'm back from my trip. Didn't attempt to temp while away. So yet again it's going to be another LOOOONG cycle(today is CD 63). Sigh wouldn't it be nice to be semi normal :)

emermel: I will be testing on Aug 9th (12dpo) that is my anniversary & I'm hoping to surprise my hubby with a BFP. If it is - and no AF I will test again around 15dpo.
I am only 8dpo today - Yesterday I was having major cramping today I have been feeling kinda sick and woke up this morning with 2 zits  I do not know AF is gonna show or its just a change in hormones.
Good Luck to everyone this cycle.

it's a bug I'm 4DPO & I'm not feeling too much. I've had a bunch of crazy dreams (normally don't remember them) & my stomach has been a little gurgly... but it could just be things I've been eating. Of course, I'd like to think they are "symptoms" but I am pretty sure it is too early for all that.

its a bug I'm in the 2WW and haven't been feeling super different. I get gaggy and my stomach hurts like I'm going to throw up (nothing has happened yet). My boobs don't hurt at all and they usually do for AF. I *am* however getting repulsed by certain smells. It could just be the food though. A guy had leftover brats for lunch and i had to run out of the lunchroom because they smelled AWFUL (and normally I like brats)

Glad you're not dissappointed about this month not being the month, that make one person it this thread :) you have a great attictude about it all!
Looks like there are a bunch of us in the 2WW, fingers crossed for everyone :)
As for me I am a little more optimistic after I have some brown spotting on the morning of 7DPO. I also had dull cramp like pain on 7-8DPO. Inplantation spotting maybe, I am hoping so! Plus I had a temp rise this morning on 9DPO, so everything is still looking hopeful for this month. I will be testing 12 DPO (Wed 10th), and can barely wait!

CD 5 today. We were planning on TTC again starting on our anniversary, but since AF has made her arrival, we decided to just go with it. I am temping, but I have never charted before and really have no idea what's going on with it, so I feel more comfortable hanging out here with you girls. Good luck to those in the 2ww!

Well, I POAS this morning and BFN...but I suppose it's still technically early if I go on a 27 day cycle (which is the average of what my cycles have been). I'm not sure what I think about this month. I feel like my bb's are enlarged and I have been really tired (falling asleep on the couch, sleeping like a rock) but who knows. I am trying really hard not to get my hopes up, but I was disappointed this morning. I'll try again in a few days.

We're truly seeing what happens this month. I've quit temping and charting and only mark when we BD. My sis is getting married in May so now would not be the most opportune time to get pg. We shall see.
Sorry about the BFN Emily - hoping it's just a little early yet. Good luck BDing Ali!

x-post from journal
Well ladies today I was feeling kinda crazy and convinced myself I was pg so I decided to test just for the heck of it while DH was in the other room on the computer. It was almost noon and I wasn't really expecting anything yet since I am only 9 DPO.
Sure enough I looked at the test and saw only one line :( I took it in to show DH and we were both like oh well, probably too early. Then I took the test to the window for a minute and saw the faintest little trace of a line ever. I called DH over to see if I was seeing things, but by that line there was a faint line for sure! :D
Here's what we saw:
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b5d626b3127cce933307a00a9800000016108Aas3Dhi2Yt0
I started flipping out sreaming
I'm pregnant! I'm pregnant!
DH was in shock, but didn't believe that a faint line IS A LINE! After 10 min of searching CC for other people with faint lines at first he finally started to believe me! Then I decided to take another test, different brand, since I already had to pee again
Here's test #2
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b5d626b3127cce933c90d42ae800000016108Aas3Dhi2Yt0
Both lines are super hard to see, but believe me ladies they are there!!! If I have learned 1 thing on CC it's that a line is a line is a line!! I am going to have a blood test tomorrow since we have walk in clinic in the morning, then I will know for sure and DH will not be able to say anything about a faint line.
Can you believe it, I am pg??!!
I am literally in shock! This was my first month off the pill, DH’s only home on weekends, I really didn't think it would happen so soon. Apparently we are both super fertile and very fortunate. Especially after reading about all the wonderful woman on CC who have been TTC forever, I feel SO LUCKY, I am speechless :D

Yesterday I had light brown-ish spotting; it just happened once so I don't think it's AF. This morning after a light walk I just felt horrid. I so wanted to throw up. I needed to sit quietly for about 5 minutes just to feel decent again.
I am hoping hoping that's a *good* thing! I'm still going to wait for the weekend to test. I don't want to get my hopes up too much (too late) and get an BFN.

Well, I'm pretty sure that I'm out this month. AF hasn't acutally shown yet, but I have been temping for the past few days (I wanted to start gettning into the habit in case I needed it) and my temp is lower this morning and I am a little crampy. I guess I am still a little disappointed. I suppose I expected it to happen right away for us again. I'll have a little hope until she actually shows, but if I'm out, hopefully I wont see to many of you next month!
emmjay
08-08-2005, 09:11 AM
I have been temping this month - I have the charting software but I haven't been doing anything but taking my temperature. I'm only on DC13 right now so I have a while before I can think about testing.
To be perfectly honest, I won't mind if I don't get pregnant right away. In fact, my ideal timeframe would be by the end of the year - we are starting now because a) I just stopped BCP in the end of July so it could take a while for me to get back to normal and b) I know it usually takes a few months.
So I am kind of conflicted right now! I feel like since I'm not DYING to get pregnant, I will probably get pregnant right away. Which I would be absolutely happy about, but at the same time it would be better for me to get pregnant around Oct/Nov.
Why can't we just decide when to pregnant??? It would make everything so much easier! ;)
emermel
08-08-2005, 09:40 AM
Em:
IMO it's probably better that you haven't "officially" decided when to get pregnant. It takes some of the pressure off. I feel like i need to get pg while we are living in AZ...not sure why, but I do, which I think is putting undo pressure on myself.
jnshanna
08-08-2005, 09:55 AM
Yeah, I agree with Emily, I think it'd be nice to not "officially" be trying so intensely. I try not to stress out but I REALLY wanted an April baby and now that it's not April, I REALLY want a May baby. See a trend here? LOL Seriously though, I wanted a Taurus baby so much because both DH and I are so I thought it'd be pretty cool to have a baby with the same sign too. Although that might not be a good thing considering the whole stubborn trait. :p
Sunshine ~ Sorry about the confusing test, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you tomorrow. Stay positive!!
Sourdough ~ Looks like we're on the same cycle. :) It's killing me waiting to O! LOL I can't wait for that fertile CM. :p

I've been having some light AF type cramps (mainly yesterday) but I am a week away from AF. I am at 7DPO today. Still having gurgly feelings in my stomach every night. Not sure what that is.
I was going to wait to test on Monday but now that I see Mel getting a positive on 9DPO I might test on Friday which would put me at 11DPO. It would be nice to get a + test right before the weekend. If it is - I'll test again on Monday if AF hasn't shown up.

I am on CD 4 so I am in the boring part of my cycle. I was surprised I wasn't upset about not being pregnant this month but I didn't think it was going to happen so I think that helped because in the past when I thought I might be I was really disappointed. I am hoping to get pregnant this month or September though so I'm sure that it will be different if I get the same result this month.

sunshineab622 – Weird about the no-show line. I really hope your anniversary brings a BFP!
Ericka_Jarett – I’m glad to hear you were able to get through yesterday. Your strength is truly inspiring. Hugs!
Chimichanga – Good luck this weekend! We need some more grads!
Emermel – Like Alioop said, it’s not over until…. :) I’m keeping faith for you!
emmjay – I agree with the others… better to stay loosy-goosy and not "officially" decide. We went “official” last month and I could feel my stress/anxiety level shooting through the roof! Probably a factor in my beautiful BFN.
jnshanna – My first cycle buddy! Bring on the fertile cm! It looks like we’ll be the next wave of 2ww’ers… May baby?--maybe!
mel7dog – Congrats again! I’d love me some of that baby dust!
pacificbliss – Another cycle buddy :) Hope the hubs is getting on board, have you talked about this cycle? Let’s enjoy a little wine while we wait… you never know, it could be our last for a while!
ginandchris – The waiting is so dang hard, good luck on Friday!!
Can't_Wait – It would be awesome to get a + on Friday, but you might want to play it safe and wait ‘til Monday! Either way, I’m crossing my fingers for you!!
looty – Hoping it happens for you in Aug/Sept! Come on, hurry up O!
Alioop – I have my fingers well crossed for you. Have fun on Thursday! ;)

Sorry about AF Emily! Ugh! I'm with you, I talked to DH about temping and he wasn't really into it but I'm doing it anyway. :p I agree, he'll get over it. It's funny because when I temped this morning and it beeped when it was done, he started to push the button on his alarm because he thought it was going off. So he has no idea I'm even temping. He probably just thinks it's his alarm. LOL

I mentioned the temping to DH but he had no idea what I was talking about. I can't even say the word "ovulate" in front of him without him asking me to "stop being so clinical" - he just wants to enjoy all of the extra sex!
Anyway, it's not too bad - I just stick the thermometer in my mouth in the morning and usually fall back asleep before it beeps again. Also it retains the last temp taken, so I don't even have to remember it - I can just check it later when I'm more fully awake.
Good luck to everyone who will be testing later this month! And sorry about AF, emermel.
PS - you know, when someone writes "BFN" I read it as "Big F-ing Negative" - is that just me??

Yeah, DH thinks temping is too "technical" and when I mentioned it to him for the first time he thought I lost my job and was going to be temping at an agency. I almost died laughing. :p He also thinks that if I temp, that will limit his "practicing" time. I tried to explain to him that temping won't help us figure out when to BD until it's too late so that isn't the case. I think maybe he gets it?? I've been driving him nuts with all my information sharing since I just finished ready TCOYF. He pretends that he's interested but I don't think he really is. I've been having some mild cramping on my right side and my abdomen for about 3 days now. It's more like a stitch in my side after running (not that I'm a runner, but it's the feeling I get when I *try* to run and I get a cramp in my side, lol)
I've only had one complete cycle off BCP, this would be the second. I couldn't tell when I may have O'd this month but if my cycle goes as expected I should see AF of maybe a BFP (?) by Tuesday or Wednesday next week. I'm going to try to hold out to see if AF decides to visit next week. But if I break down to test early I think I would do so this Sunday. Welcome Lolly and Medieval ( I am so far behind).
emermel -sorry about AF. I will think of you tonight as I sit down with my own glass of wine.
Just waiting to O here. This weekend is the big weekend for bding. As for how DH feels he send me mixed signals. We were talking about our situation the other day...how stable we are right now and I said that's why I feel like it's a good time to start a family. He said he totally understands and I though that was promising. Then last night he mistakenly referred to me as his girlfriend (we were together a long time before we got married and still get confused) and I laughed and said he should bring her over because I could use some help with the dishes. Then I said that if she gets knocked up before I do we're going to have words. To which DH replied he would like to spend a few minutes alone in a room with the guy who did it. Of course, this is all just joking. Whenever we seriously talk about he wants to, he's just scared.
For now, I think we are not so much "trying" as we are being casually careless. It's fun. This got long...sorry

I had to come back because the conversation about temping along with the big f#*!ing negative note reminded me of a funny story. This is actually embarassing and shows how clueless I was. When I first read about temping on the boards I thought people were taking the temperature in their vagina every morning. Don't ask me how I got this idea into my head. I guess I didn't realize a person's body temp would change so much and I thought there was an optimal temperature for sperm. Fortunately, I never posted anything about it (until now) and figured it out. Can you imagine?!

Pacificbliss, your convo with DH is so funny! DH and I kid around like that too. I'll ask him how long until he's going to be home (when he calls me on his way from work) and he'll ask why, do you need to get your boyfriend out before I get there? Totally kidding but we do it all the time. It's hilarious.

Umm, yeah I thought that too until I read TCOYF. I assumed it must be vaginal - what could the temperature in your mouth possibly have to do with getting pregnant?? :D

I have to say I temp for the last month. My doctor would be asking me in December if I temped at all in my 6 months since she saw me anyway.
For those that are thinking of temping and don't want to wake hubby, make sure to cover the speaker on the back of the Basal Thermometer. Beeps every 10 seconds.

You ladies are too funny. I never really even thought that hard about temping because I didn't plan on doing it but now that I am realizing that I have a small window that we really want to get pregnant in I might want to look into it. I talked to DH about it and he thought it was a little much but said we could do that or OPKs. Then the silly man made up a little song about OPKs. :p Yes I know I married a dork but he's a loveable dork.
Good luck to everyone waiting to test. I am only on CD 5 so I have a while to wait.

If he's really not paying attention try slipping the word sex into what your saying. :D Works for mine.
Wow! I'm definitely going to have to try that one now! I usually have some tidbit for him every day or so. Lately when I tell him my "symptoms" he tells me that EVERYTHING is a sign of pregnancy and rolls his eyes. It's pretty funny!

Looty your DH makes up songs too! I thought it was just my hubby. Mine makes up songs about each of the dogs, he'll sing about getting their dinner, he'll make up a song when I'm cooking dinner. Sometimes they're poems...or he'll try rapping. The man definitely likes to rhyme. That's too funny.
Tee hee, he's a scientist and he's walking in the door singing a song about his PCR that didn't work. I better get before he sees this ;)

So, I am 99% sure that I O'd yesterday - I don't think I'm going to get a BFP this month, but I will be so glad just to know that I ovulated. This is my first month off BCP and I was concerned about how much time it was going to take for my body to get back to normal. I don't think I'll be too disappointed if it doesn't happen this month (see my above post about wanting it to happen in Oct/Nov). Plus my husband and I have a bet so if I don't get pregnant, I get $50. :p
Another funny DH story - I go home for lunch every day and he works from home. Yesterday he had said he was going to a lunch meeting, but when I got home yesterday he was there. So I said (half joking), "OK, let's go! I think I'm about to ovulate!" and he looks at me and says, "I am not a machine! I can't just TURN IT ON!". :D

That's so funny, Emmjay! DH is always complaining about "being used for his sperm". He's totally joking and I know he loves it but it's so cute. He tries to play hard to get but he knows he wants it. :p
A little late because I didn't check in much on the computer last night but "cheers"!

Isn't fun to hear how cute our DH's are? As for mine he loves 80's and 90's music so, of course he plays that a lot. And he even sings some of the tunes while he cooks. The last time was Please don't go girl by The New Kids! He is too funny!
Just the same ol' thing with me, waiting and waiting! Friday has to come quicker! :)

Question: Probably a bit TMI but..... I'm trying to chart a little this month (I feel more in control that way I think) but I'm confused about charting CM. What if you have different CM through out the day? For example, yesterday I was dry most of the day but I did have creamy after using the restroom 2 times. So do I put dry or creamy in my chart?

Ok, I know I was just rolling around in baby dust but now I have a concern. I work from home far away from my office but every 3 months or so I have to check in at the office. As it so happens I need to travel there at the end of this month. I should O around this weekend and if we catch it I will be at the end of the 2ww with AF due while I am there. Here's the issue, I will be staying at my boss's house. Now, we are good friends and have fun together but that generally involves drinking and I really don't want to drink in the 2ww nor do I want to tell him we are ttc. I'm tempted to pull out the condoms myself for the rest of the month. On the other hand, and this will sound very California, I hate to mess with the baby karma that way. You know what I mean? It seems wrong to try but only try if it's convenient. What do you ladies think?
looty
08-11-2005, 02:03 PM
Pacificbliss--I personally wouldn't prevent for that reason. If you don't want to tell him why wou aren't drinking you could always make up an excuse. Could you make it look like you are drinking (rum and coke minus the rum) or something or make an excuse like you are on a medication or aren't feeling well. You could also test and see what the results are and decide from there what you want to tell him.
Rolling in the babydust too! :D Congrats again!

CONGRATS Little Star! :)
I've got the weirdest cycle this month, CD 23 now but I think I had EWCM on CD 21-22, which is late for me. The funny thing is DH and I started BD'ing every day from CD 14 and just got tired by CD 19, as we don't usually do it everyday. So I'm not really optimistic about this cycle. :(
kmmommy
08-11-2005, 10:11 PM
Once again I'm lost with my cycle (or maybe still lost). I used to complain because it wasn't regular and it could be 28-35 days. Well, here I am on CD 18 and have been spotting on and off today. Just light pinkish/brown - nothing major at all. I haven't been monitoring CM or temping so who knows what's going on.
Congrats to Little Star!

Hope you get a BFP this month like many others on here, including myself.

pacificbliss - As to not drinking during the 2WW, a couple of months ago, I had a liver test come back slightly elevated. So, my dr. asked me not to drink for a week (the horror!) and retake it.
My friends always have said "as soon as YOU are not drinking, we'll know that you are pregnant!" After a couple of doubtful stares, they believed me. I just wish that being pg had been the real reason for not drinking!
So, you can always say you have some test to take...

As for me? Well I'm not sure if I've ovulated this month or not . Well, I'm on CD13 and waiting to O. It's tough because I don't have any idea when I O. I have started temping though so hopefully that will confirm that I am O'ing and about what time. I also don't know what my LP is either so it'll be interesting to see that based on my O date. I also took a OPK today and it came up negative. But I wonder what it means if the line next to the control line is fairly dark, just not as dark as the control line. I wonder if that means that I'm at least close to O? And it will continue to get darker as the days go on? The instructions say that the line has to be as dark or darker than the control line. I'll have to search our threads here because I'm sure it's been asked before. :) Regardless, we're BDing thinking that O must be fairly close. But based on my last cycle of 37 days it seems a little too soon to O. Ah, the woman's body... Oh so complicated and hard to predict. ;)
I hope everyone had a nice weekend! :D
Ericka_Jarett
08-15-2005, 07:05 AM
The test line is darker than the control line means you are Oing and can stop taking OPK's this cycle. If the test line is dark but not as dark as the control line, means that you are close to Oing. I didn't use OPK's this cycle, cause the line thing was getting on my nerves, so this cycle was just temping and logging when we BDed and also for a few days what CM was like. I log it all onto FF since easier to understand and let them calculate when I Oed (supposedly) and find out how long my LP is. Last month it was 11 days and CD 33, today I am CD 35 and DPO 12
jnshanna
08-15-2005, 09:29 AM
Thanks for the info Ericka. I was hoping that's what it means. :) At least I know I'm getting close. And I'm pretty excited because I got EWCM this morning so we BDed. ;) I'm really taking this seriously this month so I'm hoping for the best. I'm temping and logging CM at FF everyday. Although I'm probably not doing the best job of temping since I never can seem to take it at the same time. So I guess based on how much info I'm keeping this month, we're probably not "seeing what happens" anymore. My friends told me it wouldn't be long before I was charting. I guess they were right.
jnshanna
08-15-2005, 09:32 AM
Oh and good luck to you this month too Ericka! How long has your longest LP been? I hope your temp stays above that CL and this is your month! You deserve it. :D
emmjay
08-15-2005, 09:41 AM
OK, I know we are all just "seeing what happens" but I have a temp question anyway! :) Can anyone tell me when they think I O'd? This is my first month so I don't really know what I'm doing.
Basically, last Wed and Thurs I was having pretty strong twinges in my lower right side and my boobs were really, REALLY sore. I figured I was ovulating, but my temp was still below the coverline (but rising) and just barely went over it yesterday (like .5 degrees, and I took it later than usual). Today it is way over (2 degrees). So I don't know when I ovulated! Yesterday? Saturday? Last week? I'm confused! ;)
Ericka_Jarett
08-15-2005, 10:01 AM
Emma,
I am no expert on it, but I would say you O'ed 2 days ago. Mine went up from .7 to .8 and than it would jump at least a whole degree, so FF put me as Oing.
Thanks Shanna. I may be out though, had seen a spot about 1 hour ago, then went to cut the grass so don't know if AF is here or not, really don't want to know I guess. The longest DPO I had was last month at DPO 11, but today is DPO 12 and got a negative this morning. Never really tracked it all before. Been feeling nauseaus and all for nothing it looks like.
I think we can still have this as a seeing what happens, even if we are temping. I temped the last 2 cycles, but I don't do the cervical position and all that. I only have a basic membership on FF, I don't buy it so I don't get the "extras"
emmjay
08-15-2005, 10:35 AM

I am having strange cycles. Before we were TTC they were extremely predictable; 28 days and I could tell when I O'd. Now, I can not tell if I O or not. Both last month and this month I have not been sure. I "think" I O'd yesterday (sore bb's, high sex drive) but no "telling" CM like I would nrmally get.

I know what you mean Pacificbliss. I am not really sure when I O either. I haven't been checking anything, but last month the sore bbs and high drive were my clues. I am only CD11 today though so I don't think I am there yet. Hope you figure it out and you have bd'ed on the right days.
Ericka I hope this is it for you and the spot was just that...only a spot.
Emma I hope that if you did O that day there were a few really resilient sperm that lived long enough.
Shanna It sounds like you timed things right. Let's hope it pays off in a BFP in a few days.

Molly,
Sorry about calling you the wrong name too. Not sure where I got an A on mine when I typed was going to put emm but got an a going too. Sorry about that. (Guess it was quick glancing)
Me - I am out this cycle looks like for sure. AF showed her ugly face yesterday while I was on CD 35, DPO 12. Took a test got a negative, and than about 2 hours later she showed up. Totally bummed about it too. Had a good cry about it, since I would have loved to have gotten a positive this month. Maybe the Lord was sparing me though. Rebekah would have been turning 1 in April on the 18th and that was the day that kept coming up when I did the due date calculator if I was pregnant this cycle. Didn't have O pain like last month so not even totally sure I did O anyway. Oh well, on to next cycle, hubby will like all the extra BDing anyway I am sure. A May baby would be nice, heck at this point any month baby would be nice. My arms are aching. I told my mom, a friend of mine wants us over for dinner, now it will be after her mom leaves in 2 weeks. But she is pregnant and due in November (around her other son's 2nd b-day) and I just can't be around her right now. I love her like a sister (I don't have any) but I just can't do it. My mom said well take the time for yourself, that my friend will have to understand. (My mom knows my friend and her family) It's hard though.

Before we started TTC my last cycle was 26 days, then last month it went up to 37 days! The longest cycle I've had for a while. It was surprising but I guess with all the stress of thinking about TTC 24/7 really got to me more than I thought. Good luck with your 2WW. I hope you get a BFP!
So I'm on CD16 now and FF says that I O'd on Saturday. It seems weird to me though because I didn't start getting EWCM until yesterday. I'm so confused. Maybe it's just wrong? And I really haven't yet? I did take my temp on Sunday pretty late, at 6:30 when I usually always take it before 5:30 so maybe I need to adjust my temp? We're just going to keep BDing this week everyday except Friday because we'll be staying with my SIL for the night. I did have cramping yesterday afternoon and I figured it might be O. Wow, this is pretty confusing. If I did O already I guess I'll be having a normal cycle again. My shortest is 26 days and my longest is 37 days. If the O is correct, we have a "good" rating for BDing. I guess that's okay. I wish we would have BDed on Sunday though. Oh well. I guess time will tell what's going on. I'm really curious about my temp tomorrow!

So if I change the detector to Fertility Awareness, it shows that I haven't O'd yet. I wonder what's different? I'm SO obsessing about this and it can't be healthy. :p

Holly,
It may have just been too early, do you know what CD or DPO you are on? I took a test this morning and got a BFN, but I am only CD 33, DPO 10 so that's early to test. Praying that when I test again later next week, will get a BFP
Sorry for my delayed response, Ericka! I've been away from the computer for a few days! When I tested it was CD30 and 13 DPO. Still no sign of AF today at CD33. Although I did start laughing in a meeting this afternoon only to find myself in tears shortly thereafter. Who knows what's going on with my body! I'll keep looking for AF and maybe testing again if nothing happens in a week or so. There's always next month, right!? And more chances for some fun with the hubby! :D Sorry to hear that AF arrived, too!

Sorry Ericka
jnshanna I hope you don't have any more long cycles. Any deviation from the norm is so excruciating.
DH and I did the bd again last night just to be sure. This puts me somewhere near the beginning of the looong 2 ww. Since I am going out of town on the 29th (the day AF should be due) I will probably test on the 28th (assuming AF is not already here). Even though that's early I won't be able leave without seeing something.
Dan's*Girl -Good luck!
Actually, baby dust to everyone.

Hey pacificbliss, it looks like we'll be cycle buddies this month! AF is due on the 28th or 29th this month but only if my O date is correct and I'm still not convinced. DH and I are going out of town on vacation the 29th so I plan to test the 28th too. :) I know it's probably too early but I can't be gone for a week without knowing either.

I think I'm with you guys! This was my first month off BCP and I didn't O until CD18 or 19, so I'm thinking my cycle is going to be longer than 28 days.
Anyway, with a 28-day cycle I was supposed to get AF on Aug 25th. I'm thinking it's going to be more like the 28th. I'll probably test on the 25th though even though I'm pretty sure this won't be the month for us.
Good luck! :)

Hi nuhmuh--you are supposed to BD before you O preferably 3-5 days. As well as the day you O.
Since I wanted to have our bases covered we BD every day before I O'd so that was about 5 days in a row BD :p ! I know most of the girls on here either do every day or every other. HTH!

Molly~ I won't feel too bad then but I am glad that you pointed it out. I'm right behind you expecting Af around the first few days of Sept.
Heather~I hope this is Af for you since that is what you want. I can't imagine haivng a 73 day cycle.
Ericka~Sorry that you are out this month but I agree it would probably be pretty hard to have a baby right around Rebekah's birthday. Hope next month is it for you!
Ramona~Good luck this month. I'm in the same boat as you. Baby dust to you! I'm in the STL area too. I just noticed you are from here too. Where? If you don't mind me asking.
Holly~Hopefully when you test again you will get you BFP.
Nuhmah~I may not be the best person to answer this but I'll try. If you can tell exactly when you O then right when you O is great but many people can't. I have heard that it is better to bd a little before the O because sperm can live for a while but if oyu are too late it isn't going to matter. Don't know if this is accurate or if it helps but hopefully someone else can give their opinion as well.
As I said I will be Oing sometime this week and we are making sure to cover our bases.

Sounds like we have 3 of us with about the same timing this month. Should be fun! :) But when I look at my calendar on FF it shows the 28th or 29th for AF and when I look at my BBT chart it shows the 31st as the first day possible for AF. I wonder why they're different? Anyway, hopefully we'll be about the same. I took an OPK when I got home and there were two lines. It took about 15 minutes for it to show the test line almost as dark as the control line I wonder if it's dark enough though. Could they make those test any harder to read?
Welcome Lindsay!
nuhmah ~ I agree with the 2 responses so far. I've read that sperm can live for up to 5 days in fertile EWCM so BDing before you O is good. But I also read that BDing on the day of O is the best scenario. This is of course if you know exactly when you O. If there is any question at all, just keep BDing until you know for sure that you've O'd. Just in case! :)

nuhmah ~ I found this at FF for you. It was one of the featured FAQ's there. :)
What is the fertile window?
Your fertile window is made up of the days in your menstrual cycle when pregnancy is possible. The length of this fertile phase is determined by the maximum life span of your partner's sperm and your egg. Sperm can survive a maximum of five days in fertile cervical fluid and your ovum can survive for up to one day. Your theoretical fertile window is thus six days long, comprised of the five days before ovulation and the day of ovulation. You only have a chance to conceive when you have intercourse on these days. This means that pregnancy is technically possible from intercourse on any of these six days. The likelihood of actually becoming pregnant, however, is dramatically increased when you have intercourse in the three days immediately leading up to and including ovulation. This makes a practical fertile window of just three days.
In a recent analysis of 119,398 charts from women charting with Fertility Friend, we found that 94% of women who became pregnant had intercourse on at least one of these three days. For conception purposes, it is thus ideal to have intercourse during a three day fertile window which includes your ovulation day and the two previous days.
Intercourse Frequency
There has been some speculation that couples who are trying to conceive should reduce the frequency of sexual intercourse during the fertile window to increase sperm supply. This is not true for most couples. While couples with known male factor issues should consult their doctor for the best intercourse strategy, couples with normal fertility and no known sperm issues should not reduce the frequency of intercourse in the fertile window. Your probability of conception is increased when you have intercourse multiple times in your fertile window. While it is true that sperm concentrations decrease slightly with increasing intercourse frequency, frequent intercourse is still more likely to result in conception than infrequent intercourse for couples with no male factor fertility issues. Each additional act of intercourse within your fertile window increases your probability of conception for that cycle.

Shanna was it you who were asking about this?, may have been on the charting thread. Found it on FF today.
Why do I have eggwhite cervical fluid after I have already ovulated?
Some cervical fluid after ovulation is possible because the corpus luteum, though its main function is to produce progesterone, produces estrogen in small amounts. This may cause you to see some fertile-looking cervical fluid, even after ovulation.
If your temperatures and other signs show clearly that you have already ovulated, then you can be confident that you are no longer fertile. It is also not uncommon to confuse semen and eggwhite or watery cervical fluid. Some women also notice some fertile-looking cervical fluid just before menstruation.
However, if your chart does not show clearly that you have already ovulated (with a clear and sustained thermal shift) do not stop having intercourse. Keep on considering the possibility that you are still fertile as long as you see fertile cervical fluid to make sure you don't miss a chance to conceive.

I am officially raising my glass to September, AF showed up this morning (very expected) and I am just ready to roll for next month! DH is out of town but he will be back this weekend, he will be here next week and then will be gone for a week (thank God he will be here for some good BD timing).

"Cheers" for your next month babywish. :D
Here's my story for the day from the TTC with charting thread: ;)
Well, my temp went up again this morning. 2 tenths this time. So FF changed my O date to CD 13, the one day we didn't BD. I really don't know what to believe because I don't see a definite thermal shift. I took another OPK yesterday afternoon and it seemed like it could be positive but it's tough to tell. The lines were almost identical but not until after 10-15 minutes had passed. I took a picture of it as a reference. I'll take another test today and tomorrow if need be. I also added the times that my temps have been taken each day to my chart and that has given me a lot of open circles. I just take my temp as soon as I wake up to go to the restroom in the early morning. But I'm not consistent at all and it could be anywhere from 3-5:30. If I could just hold it overnight it'd be easy and I could just take it when my alarm goes off at 6 but I have to make it difficult. So that's my story for the day. Still just as confused as every and have no idea when I O'd.

I'm right there with you - my temp went up again this morning and my O date changed from CD18 to CD19 (and we did BD that day - woo hoo!). But I really thought I O'd around CD15. Whatever! ;)
I am completely confused myself, so I'm just going to wait until the 25th or 26th and see how things go. Maybe I'll have a better handle on this charting stuff by next month!

Thanks, Pacificbliss! I'm looking forward to this next cycle!
I'm going on a mission trip to Belize and had to get shots and whatnot today...she told me that shouldn't interfere with trying to get pregnant, but we'll see. I almost think that it would be easier to just wait until I get back in October to try again because then I won't have to worry about flying or m/s or any of that stuff while I'm gone....Hmmmmm!

Hey girls, I know Ericka posted some info earlier, but I'm still confused...
Today is CD19 (and my cycles are usually 27-29 days). TMI, but I still have tons of eggwhite/watery cervical fluid. I was thinking that maybe I had a delayed O this month? Should we still be BD'ing? But then I thought maybe it could be a pregnancy symptom? Or is it just AF on the way?? :(
jnshanna
08-18-2005, 06:22 PM
I'm in the same boat as you Sourdough. I didn't have any EWCM or Watery CM before O (at least when FF says I O'd) but I've had it for the past 4 days straight. Sometimes it's heavy and sometimes it's just a little on the TP. I don't really know what to think about it.
If I were you, I would continue to BD as long as you have fertile CM. Just to be safe. :)

I just jumped on here because TMI ALERT I peed and there was CM that looked like it could be O. I didn't have any around O time but felt like I was ovulating. Maybe I timed it completely wrong  I'm CD 18 today.

Ramona--I live about 3 minutes from Six Flags. I have a lot of family in your area. Good to meet someone from the same place. I hope you have successful cycle this month!
Emily--yeah we are both from STL. I know what you mean about not seeing too many ladies from here. My friend moved to Arizona too (Mesa).
Good luck to everyone on the timing of your bding (which seems like is a confusing thing right now).
I am not sure where I am myself either. I haven't had any symptoms of O (on Cd 15) but I haven't looked for them as much either because I am much more busy this month. We have been covering ourselves since CD 7 and will probably continue through CD 21.
I do have a question is the period between Cd 1 and O always at least 2 weeks or more? I just wonder because last cycle I had a lot of CM, sore bbs, and high drive around O time but this cycle I have only had some CM and a regular drive. I did feel some pains earlier than CD 14 but wasn't sure if that could be O pain before that day.
Anyone testing soon?

X-posted with thread on faint positives
Ok, so I just took an HPT and I'm not sure if it's a faint line or just a "stain" from the pink color moving across the window. It's an EPT test and the faint line/squiggly thing is not exactly in the center of the circle, but slightly to the right. DH is out of town and brought the digital camera with him so I can't post it here....anyone think it's just irrelevant or if it's a real BFP? I'm CD 33, roughly 15DPO if I estimated correctly (but I'm not charting, this is based on having EWCM). I also had unexpected heavy spotting on CD 10...ACK! Freaking out and it's too late to call anyone!

I'm 28 days into my cycle (guessing 11DPO?) and I'm still having creamy CM. Could this be? Here I am 2:30AM wide awake pondering this and not wanting to get my hopes up for nothing. sourdough are you still showing similar CM signs? I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the both of us.
smiles33, I'll be doing the same for you! Come on BFP! :)

I think it was BFN, as the faint line I thought I saw faded even more by this morning to almost nothing. Talk about seeing things--I feel foolish now.
Still no AF though, but I'm going to wait until Tuesday to test again, when I'm officially CD36 and I think 16DPO.
jnshanna
08-20-2005, 11:00 PM
Oh don't feel foolish, Smiles. I probably would have thought the same thing. :) I hope AF stays away!
I'm not sure about your question Looty. Hopefully someone else knows.
My temp is still going up so I'm hoping that's a good sign. Since I've been out of town I haven't been paying very much attention to CM so I'm not sure about that. I don't remember seeing and EW though so I think that's good.
It must be too early to have any pg symptons if I am but one thing that is really weird is that I'm burping all the time!! I could just drink some water and I'm burping right after. So strange! Gosh, it's so hard not to obsess about all these possible symptoms. ;)

Smiles--I'm not sure if a positive fades or not but I hope that when you retest that you get your BFP! Before i read your second post I was going to say the only way to tell would be to take another test. Hope the one on Tuesday brings the news you want!
Medieval--I'm not sure about any of the technical questions so I hope someone else can help you but I know I saw on here that someone said that can be a pg symptom. Let's hope so!
Shanna--I know what you mean about all the things you can imagine. I am not at that stage yet (CD 16) but I have been the same in the past when we weren't trying but I was hoping I was pregnant. Last cycle I was pretty relaxed because that was supposed to be my transition month, so I am sure this month will be a different story since I am really hoping to be pregnant.
