View Full Version : Strapless Bras that stay up??

I have a wedding in September and just bought this really pretty dress. I need a strapless for it (the top is lacy-the sisters are covered, but need to be locked up). Whenever I wear strapless bras, by the end of the night it's around my stomach or I end up taking it off (if I have a jacket, of course!). I was thinking of those straplesses that have a tummy-tucker attached. I've seen these spandex numbers at Walmart. Not the ones with the boning in them-I don't want blisters or anything. Any suggestions?
yeah, if you want it to stay where it should with minimal tugging, you'll need to get a longline (is that what they're called), all in one, corset-kind of bra. I believe the best place to get one is at Fredericks of Hollywood.

Jen, the stuff you'll buy at Walmart will be crap. If you want a good one, you should call your Aunt Judy.
But, I didn't think your dress needed strapless - I think you could do a bra with thin straps and be fine. :)

I wore the kind of bra that Katy suggested for both my wedding and when I was MOH in my BFF's wedding. I think I was the only BM that didn't have problems with her bra wanting to head south. I got mine at...Dillard's, I think.
Another option might be to have cups sewn into the dress.

Thanks.
The Fredricks of Hollywood closed around here a couple years ago. I just got a minimizer bra at Dillards a few days ago and love it.
I was thinking of going to my aunt's shop tomorrow when I'm off. Need some good bras.
Jen, the top is black lacy, I guess I could do spaghetti-sized straps, but maybe I'll see if I can find the all in one to help with the three stomachs. :)

If I'm understanding correctly, the dress top itself is just lacy, not strapless. In that case, I would look for a long-line bra as previously suggested, but some of them come with removable clear straps. I have one and LOVE it. I thought the straps might be uncomfortable (since they're plastic), but I bought it anyway because the straps were removable. Worked out great both with or without the straps.

I have the bra from Victoria's secret that you can do the straps 5 different ways. It's called convertible. I have it in nude and there are nude straps and clear plastic straps, both completely removable. You can also use one strap around your neck as a halter, etc. I hate strapless bras (I'm extremely small chested and can't hold them up!), but this one has like rubber or tacky stuff or something that makes the bra stick better to your skin, but not in an uncomfortable way. You can also use the bra just as a regular bra, so it can get good use.

Hmmm, maybe I'll try those ones too. I need new bras anyways. I forgot about the see-thru straps. You won't notice the plastic-y look under the lace.

I have a strapless bra I love from Cacique (Lane Bryant). I don't normally shop there, but got a visit from the boobie fairy when I was nursing my daughter. The bra I got was a 38C, but I can still wear it now that I am back to a 36B. It stays secure and gives a lot of lift, too.

lol, Shelby!
I still haven't found one. I tried a strapless at JC Penney on, with the clear straps, but the straplesses aren't full coverage, which I need. It just feels like someone's "cupping me" to keep the girls up. I don't like that feeling.
I'd like to find an all-in-one, maybe with the spagetti straps like previously suggested.

I have a small chest - 34B - and the strapless bra from VS works well for me. It's not the convertible one, but it has the rubber/tacky stuff on it. I had my 1st one for over 3 years before I had to replace it and I wear it a lot.

The brand at Target (Gilligan O'Malley??) is what I have been wearing. It has convertible straps, which would let you wear it otherwise, as well as having this rubbery stuff on the inside of the band that goes around your body. I have a very hard time finding bras that fit (the 32 is loose on me) and this one (size 32) although a bit looser than I would like, and that rubbery stuff helps it stay up and in place with no problem.

I'm a 36C mommy boobies, so I need the fuller coverage to feel comfortable. Hmmm, what to do.....

Try going down a band size and up a cup size - it's worked really well for me.

I have a great bra that is strapless, regular straps or even halter style (well, not technically, but they work). I haven't worn it for some time since I've been nursing, but will probably wear it with my halter style dress for a wedding next month.
This is the bra I have now. (http://www.freshpair.com/Fantasie-Cally-Underwire-Strapless-Bra-7930.html)
Of course, I have to try it on with the dress, the lace might show, in which case, I'll go for one like this. (http://www.freshpair.com/Fantasie-Smoothing-Molded-Strapless-Bra-4530.html)
They're definitely fuller coverage, without being so much material that they look like a granny bra.
While I know you want more coverage in the tummy area, I have none to recommend, I have very vivid, bad memories of the last time that I wore one. Wearing one all day and all night and ending up with the boning jabbing into my side is not something that I personally want to repeat any time soon. :)

:)Hmm, those are good ones too Jen, I might do the lacy one. That's pretty and looks like it holds it all in.
I'll look up the wacoal bodysuede one online to see what it looks like.

I think this is the one I just ordered. I am (massively) bigger than a 38C, but I am hoping to have at least some success with it.
