Anyone ever had an ulcer?

Has anyone here had a stomach ulcer before? If so, what were your symptoms? And how did you treat it?

I haven't, but Mike has a long, long histoy of ulcers and other tummy probs.

He gets sharp, stabbing pains in his stomach and often a burning sensation. His stomach spasms/cramps as well, but I'm not sure if that is directly related to the ulcers or to his other tummy troubles. And, TMI, he had blood in his stool.

He had lots and lots of luck with a round of antibiotics. Since he took a course of antibiotics, oh, five or so years ago, he isn't nearly in as much pain and hasn't had anymore bloody stools. He does take a Nexium/Prilosec almost daily.

I did, back in high school. It started out with what I would describe as extreme nausea. I would have bouts that lasted for several days. Couldn't eat a thing and would sip coke or sprite the entire day. But, I didn't have that "going to throw up" feeling. It was very weird. After this happened several times in the course of a few months, my parents took me to the doctor to see what was up. He prescribed one of those upper GI tests and sure enough, I had a fairly large duodendnal (I know I didn't spell that correctly) ulcer. I was given the newest drug at the time - Zantac - and my symptoms cleared up after a few months.

Unlike just about everyone else, I had no pain. Only severe nausea.
