I bought one of those dry salad dressing mixes that you mix with oil and vinegar and water.

There are a hundred kinds of vinegar -- which do I use? I have some of the distilled white vinegar but I've never used it for anything but cleaning (or science labs!) and it smells horrible. I can't imagine it goes in this! But maybe it does... help?

I'd use red wine vinegar or balsamic for something like that. Maybe cider vinegar if I had to or didn't have the others on hand.

Yup. Red wine or balsamic. You could also do champagne vinegar. But my #1 choice would be red wine vinegar for a mix like that.

I've used plain white vinegar with dressing mixes before - it's fine.

That's good to know, just in case I don't have anything else on hand (like right now)! Thanks :)

Red or white wine. I wouldn't use balsamic just bc if it's a good balsamic you don't want to mess it up by mixing it with stuff. Sort of like mixing an expensive wine into a spritzer.

True. But my balsamic is cheap-ass stuff, so I'd be fine w/it. ;)
