My DH and I decided to foster 3 6-8 week old kittens for a no-kill kitty rescue here in dallas yesterday. OMG....I had forgotten what instant happiness you get when you watch babies play together. Although these 3 little guys don't trust people too much (we are working on that) they love, love, love to play with each other. I lost count of the number of times they spider-walked at each other and fluffed up their tails and backs....they roll around and love to JUMP in the air all startled when another one runs out at them....they are soooooo cute. If you are ever down...you just need to foster a couple little kittens and you'll be instantly lifted! Better than Prozac!

Here are a couple of pics of them....they are all available for adoption.

Meggie (named for my sister's cat that was put to sleep last week)...she is buff colored and is coming around to being handled. She is the only one that didn't hiss at me this morning when I went into their room and actually started purring when I was holding her.

Murphy (named for my sister's dog that was put to sleep last month)....he is going to be a big boy...he is an ATTACK CAT...won't leave Meggie alone. He and Meggie are SUPER close.

Claire (she is the most high-maintenance, named her after someone I know that is also high-maintenance)....she is the most jumpy, has not taken well to being handled although this morning she did close her eyes when I picked her up and held her. She is going to be the biggest challenge.

Honestly, after having them just one day I would hate to see Meggie and Murphy adopted seperately as they are very close to each other and play together constantly. Claire is very independent and doesn't really seek the others out for playtime....now, nap time is a completely different story...they all pile together in one chair, it makes you want to eat them up! I'll get a pic of that later. :p

That's so awesome that you are fostering! Kittens are so freakin adorable. When I was a kid, a neighbor brought in a litter of kittens whose momma was a stray cat. They kept them in a spare room that was then dubbed the *kitten room.* It was so much fun to watch them play. :)

How cute! I wish I could do that, but my house is already full with two cats and a dog. Also, I know myself too well. I would get so attached and have to keep them!

Oh, they are adorable!!!

We adopted our youngest off the street and she was VERY skittish around us (would NOT come out from under the buffet and was adamant about not being touched). We found the best way to get her comfortable with us was to use string to play with her. It got her to engage with us but she still felt like she was far enough away to be safe. Eventually she got used to us enough that we could use ourselves as obstacles for her while she was chasing the rope.

And oh, that first purr. I was SO excited when she started purring I ran into the bedroom and woke up DH to tell him. :D

Good luck with your fostering, I hope you find homes for all of them.

Look at those little faces! I'd forgotten how cute kittens are, too. I can't bring any home-for foster or forever home-because I am 99% sure Molly would kill me if I brought another animal in her domain.

Thanks everyone...they are adorable....no takers at the adoption days last weekend though! :( I even instructed them to put on their cute faces, pull their ears forward and NOT HISS at anyone. Evidently it didn't work. So, I have them for another week, which isn't a problem....TRUST ME!!

Actually, they have gotten better though, except Claire. She still isn't too keen on humans yet but we will get there. We have been slowly introducing them to the other cats and dogs and last night allowed all of them to be in the same room together, free and they did fine. Our older cats have zero interest in them, other than watching them and the youngest cat wants to play with them but he is sooo big and they are sooo small he gets confused when he jumps at them and can't find them (they are under his belly).

I'm so glad they are to a point where they can be with the other kitties, just more chances to socialize and it makes them more adoptable. Now, if we can get them to tolerate the dogs, that would be ideal! Murphy no longer hisses or puffs up at them, Meggie goes bananas with them, hissing, spider walking, spitting and popping them and the dogs just look at her and wander off. She thinks she is soooo tough!

It is amazing watching their personalities come out....this has been such a fun experience.

They are so cute! Claire looks like a sweetie. I bet she will come around after some TLC from you.

That's funny that you gave them a little pep talk. DH and I love to visit the pet adoptions at PetSmart on the weekend and we always laugh at the really rambunctious kittens. We saw one who had shredded tons of newspaper in his crate. I told him that's not going to help him get adopted!

EEEEE! Totally shrieking with joy over those little fuzzy faces!!! :)
How sweet and wonderful for you all (although your dogs may not agree).
Here's to finding them the best home ever, real soon!
