We have it Tivo'd and have so far only see the 1st and 1/2 of the 2nd episode, but we are really enjoying it so far.
Hopefully, we'll be all caught up buy this week.

Anyone else?

I've seen the 2nd and 3rd installments and I LOVE them! I really hope they air the first one so I can get all caught up on the backstories.

I will probably rent it from NetFlix when it comes out on DVD too! :)

I've been tivoing them, and finally watched the first episode last night. I thought it was great.

Sarah I was looking it up on tivo and noticed they are playing all the episodes so far on July 4th. I think the first one is coming on at noon if you want to tape it.

lowcountrywed beat me too it, I was just going to post that they are re-airing all 3 episodes on the 4th of July. I also just discovered that it is based on this book...

http://us.penguingroup.com/static/covers/all/9/8/0451411889L.jpg

A sweeping historical epic of Manifest Destiny and the clash between two cultures, Into the West tells the story of the expansion of the American West as seen through the eyes of two famillies-one white, one Lakota-over the course of many generations: from the birth of the fur trade to the Texans' last stand at the Alamo, through the Civil War and the massacre at Wounded Knee.

YAY!! I'm so glad they're re-airing them on July 4th. I missed the first installment so I can't wait to see it from the beginning. I hope they show more of Kerri Russell's story.. I just loved her story line. Actually I love the whole thing so far ;)

To my surprise I am loving this mini-series. Totally bummed that the next epi will not be on for 2 weeks. :(

Like LeslieR, I too was surprised on how much I've enjoyed the series. I'm interested in reading the book now.

So happy to see there are others who love the series too!!! I have been watching them through the use of TIVO, which I love.

I started seeing the previews and noticed Keri Russel who I love as an actress so I had to see them. Even my husband has been watching and enjoying it too! I'm definitely thinking about getting the book.

I agree that I hope that they follow up on Keri Russells character.

Kerri Russel's character Noami Wheeler also called Five horses (the amount her husband paid for her) is married to Chief Prairie Fire

I started by taping this for a co-worker (she doesn't have cable - can you believe it??? ) and got hooked myself. I have watched the 1st and 2nd shows but not the 3rd. I am hoping to watch that tonight.

To my surprise I am loving this mini-series. Totally bummed that the next epi will not be on for 2 weeks.

I didn't know this. Thank you! :)

Just to add to this-he is Crow not Lakota.

I hope they follow up on her character as well.

Yes! I love it, my mom loves it, and even hubby has gotten into it. I haven't missed an episode yet. Just caught up with last week's epi last night. It's a great mini-series and I'll be sad when it's over. The scenery is gorgeous (I believe it's filmed in Canada-probably Alberta?), I about cried last night when the 'white men' (cavalry I think?) came to the Lakota camp and started shooting at people there, killing men, women, children. Such brutality! It hits me in the heart b/c my family is part Crow-Blackfoot and to see the horrible treatment of the natives by the white men like that, it just kills me.

Is anyone else watching this? I watched the 3 episode marathon on the 4th and then watched last week's episode.

After watching the first 3 straight through, I became so invested in Jacob Wheeler and his wife, I am not as invested in the current storyline. It's been very interesting to watch. I really like it.

whys was the other thread locked

I'm pretty sure it was locked because it was a duplicate thread. On most message boards when someone starts a new thread about something that already has a thread the newer one is locked.

I too love this series but am upset by the loose ends. I would love to know what happened to Keri Russell's character, where is the other daughter of the main Wheeler family that the Indian mother had with the Uncle, where's the oldest brother who worked on the railroad? Sorry I don't remember names but I watch this series every week and think it's great.

We watched the final episode last night-what a disappointment. This series started out slow for me, then I got into it, and then I lost interest. Too many loose ends as the PP stated. I also want to know what happened to Keri Russell's character??? And what happened to Abe Wheeler? DH and I couldn't remember if he died or they just never showed him again. What a shame.

I have TiVo'ed all but haven't watched any. My DH and I will probably do a marathon viewing when nothing else is on!
