Dh was playing soccer yesterday and at one point fell on the ground. He noticed that his arm hurt but not bad enough to seek treatment (at the time) or stop playing. Last night he noticed there was a lump on his arm and that it was red. Someone said it might be poison ivy but we nixed that as we have not been around any.

Today Dh went to the Dr. who told him take some Benedryl and gave him antibiotic rx (why I don't know since she didn't know what was wrong). So now - DH's arm is bigger/more swollen and he thinks maybe he landed on a bee. He refuses to go back to Dr. tomorrow b/c he thinks maybe he should see an allergist or some other specialist.

Any one have any ideas about this? We have been on the internet all night looking at spider bites etc. and nothing seems plausible except may be the bee sting.

TIA!

People react to bee stings in different ways. What your hubby has sounds a lot like what happens to me when I get stung. There won't be much of anything right after the sting, but the next day or two, the area gets all swollen and hard and itches SOOO bad. I haven't ever gone to a doctor for a bee sting... I usually just rub benadryl on it and try to stop myself from scratching. If he were allergic, I would think the reaction would happen right away, not a day later.

I don't think i'd want to go back to a doctor who prescribed an antibiotic without knowing what the real problem was! Sheesh!

I agree!

DH went to an allergist today who said that he def. was stung by something. I have to go with the bee sting b/c there are so many bees where he plays soccer. Dr. today gave him a shot - dh doesn't know of what but I think cortisone or something along those lines.

Thanks for your help. I hope this works!
