I went in to Old Navy yesterday to find some new tops for work, and every single one I tried on felt like a potato sack. I haven't changed sizes, so something was up. Have they changed their sizes?

It could just be the styles right now. It seems as though the style for fall is what I call "maternity chic," which is great for post-preggos like myself, but probably not great for the average woman.

I guess the thing I've noticed more about Old Navy is that there size selection has changed drastically. I never used to have any problem going into a ON and finding my size (currently an 18-- damn those big hips!). Lately, though, I can't find anything above a 14 in most pants. I've asked about it, but no one gave me a good answer. *sigh*

I think their sizing has always run big. I'm a 4/32D and I wear an XS which seems weird.

Old Navy is discontinuing it's in-store plus-sized line. If you look on the website, under "Women's Plus" it says "online only".

I wonder why they're doing that. It seemed like a popular store for my plus-sized friends, and making it online only makes it difficult!

My ON doesn't have the Women's Plus section. The regular women's line at ON runs up to a size 20 (I wear an 18 in the regular line and have some shorts from the Plus line in a 14). That's what I loved about ON-- the fact that the regular line went up to 20. I've just noticed that in a lot of their new pants styles, there's nothing in a 16, 18, or 20. Once I learned on CC that ON was discontinuing it's Plus sizes in stores, I went back to my ON, thinking that they'd carry more selection in the regular collection. No such luck!

I can buy 3 different shirts at Old Navy in 3 different sizes and they'll all fit the same. The only thing i can come up with is it depends on what country they're manufactured in!

I work for ON corporate. They discontinued the Plus line in stores for a few reasons. First, the size range in non-Plus womens goes to size 20, as myshel mentioned. We found in doing research that the most popular size that is bought by our plus woman was an 18. Thus, we found that we were already serving this customer. Also, the Plus sized option is usually more expensive than the non-Plus option. Secondly, Plus is selling very well online and we saw lackluster sales in the stores. Thus, the Plus department wasn't really paying for its space in the stores.

As for sizing issues, I haven't heard any callouts. I know a lot of women are happy with our new denim that we launched this month. I have to admit some of the styles are pretty cute, and I'm somewhat of a denim snob.

Surftraitor, thanks for the info. As a (shrinking) plus size gal, I seriously doubt that I'll be buying any more plus online from Old Navy. Their sizing was way to inconsistent - especially in their shirts and the shipping costs were killing me. Whenever I'd do an online order, I'd have to order two sizes of everything and even then, I usually returned all but one or two things either because of sizing, or fabric, or design (all things I can't tell until I see it live and in person).

Of course, when they were in the store, I spent a small fortune there every couple of weeks. But oh well, it's how they're choosing to do business so I can't really fault them. I bought pants a few sizes smaller on clearance so that I have something to shrink into.

I think ON's sizing is screwy. I can try on a 16 in one pair of pants and it fits great...another and I can't get it past my thighs!!

Their sizing is so messed up. I used to shop there religiously because the sizing was consistent and I could go in and buy something without having to try it on. Not anymore. I have the same problem as bethnjim, one shirt or pair of pants will fit, the other is either too big or too small. It's ridiculous.

Definitely weird sizing! I was trying on some old capri's (2 years ago, pre baby) that I had to see if I should keep them. They were a size 6 and just buttoned (I am an 8-10 now) and I have some 8s from this year that do not even fit, they are so tight. I really hate inconsistency, especially when trying to order online.
