YAY, a new thread! I know I haven't posted much in the previous thread but I wanted to start of the thread saying I think Kaitlyn is finally potty trained!! WOO HOO! I am so excited, I thought it was never going to happen. I mean, I knew she knew how to do it, she was just so dang stubborn and didn't want to. But she has been wearing underwear for almost a week now and has only had one accident. :D:D:D

Hello, checking into the new thread, I hope everyone has been enjoying the summer! We have been busy with trips to Sesame Place, the Philadelphia Zoo and Dutch Wonderland. Not sure if I mentioned but we went to Disney for the again in May, it was harder than when he was 2 but still a great time.
At his 3 year well visit Tyler was 27 lbs 2 oz. and 36 inches tall. According the them he's in the 10th percentile for weight and 25th for height but he has always followed this pattern so we aren't concerned. My baby is getting so big! I have such mixed emotions about preschool this fall, excited because I know he will love all the friends and am certain he is ready for the challenge but sad because he will never depend on me in the same way again and he is (so far) my only baby.
Dana B sorry I can't help you, Tyler pretty much led the PT'ing process and was in underwears full time back in January...I've been really spoiled with that. I have to add that he still wears pull ups at night, we tried underwears but he just isn't consistent enough yet...he will stay dry for 5 nights and then have 2 accidents, be dry another 3-4 nights and have another accident...too much cleaning with his twin size bed so it was back to pull ups he went..LOL.
I can't believe how many repeat offenders we have, I must admit I'm a tad jealous! DH and I have been trying to give Tyler and little brother or sister since he just after he turned one, our last attemp was our first IVF and it failed.:( Luckily we opted to freeze our remaining embryos so we will trying with the frozen ones at the end of the month but if that doesn't work we will have to decide if Tyler will be our only child or if we want to persue adoption. Strangely I'm started to feel at peace with all of this.
If someone can remind me what photoservice I can use to post a pic here I will try and get some recent ones of Tyler soon. Thanks!

Thanks for the new thread!
K has absolutely no interest in potty training. It's driving me crazy! He'll be 3 in just a few weeks but I just can't get him to do it at all.
We also got a BFP a few weeks ago. A HUGE surprise BFP. I'm still in shock and not sure how to feel about it all. We thought we were done at 2 kids.

Danab~ all I can say is hang in there. I know that's not what you want to here but I was in your same shoes just a week ago. She would go potty but she didn't care if she went in her pants or not. The only thing I can think of that changed was she decided she wanted to wear underwear to daycare. I was a little concerned but brought an extra outfit and figured she could just change her clothes and put her back in a pullup if she wets. It's been over a week and she still hasn't needed her change of clothes. Have you tried underwear on her yet? That is the only thing I've noticed that made her not want to go in her pants. I was in the same boat as you, I was considering starting her and her older brother in preschool this fall but I didn't think she would be potty trained in time with the way she was going. So now I need to look into getting them both signed up again. Good luck and hang in there, if it happened for me it will happen for you.

october princess sorry about your ttc struggle, keeping fingers crossed for you for next month.
nikki she's been in underwear for a couple of weeks now. i even went and bought some stupid princess ones that i knew she'd like. i have a timer that i set for every 30 minutes and i have to physically put her on the potty -- she won't go on her own, she won't tell me she has to go or has gone. i'm cleaning all day long -- today alone she peed on the leather chair and the area rug, i try to keep something waterproof on the couches. i don't know how much more of this my house can take!!

Oh yes, just two changes for me. Me and DH's ages need to be updated.
I'm now 33 and DH will be 32 next month so you can chage him now.:)
Thanks for the new thread!
Danab well that stinks, I'm sorry that I don't have any other advice to give you. I think different things work on different kids. I tried the sticker and treat thing everytime she went to the bathroom and that didn't work at all like it did for others. It's pretty much up to her now, but she will do it some day. I know your on a time crunch, is she excited to start preschool? Have tried making that an incentive for her? Good luck

I love having new friends. I have the same name there!:) We've decided that were going to TTC #3 as soon as we have a few bills caught up. SO prob. within the next 6 months. I'm really excited.

it happened!! noa is officially potty trained! something just clicked one day and ever since she's gone pee and poop in the potty all by herself. she's been using the public restrooms all week and hasn't had any accidents. tonight she even asked for the potty to be in her room when she went to sleep and didn't want her pull-up (we'll see how that goes). we are SO proud of her.

YAY, I knew it would happen. Isn't is such a good feeling? Isn't is strange how one day they just decide they want to do it. Way to go Noa!

Potty training: I wish it would just click for Gina. I have to sit her on the potty every hour or so and she will go but she doesn't tell us when she has to go. *sigh* Luckily she doesn't have to be potty trained to go to preschool. She starts on the 23rd.
Emalee will be 2 on Wednesday. She will be going to preschool with Gina.

Thanks for the new thread!

As usual, I am keeping you in my thoughts and am sorry this has been such a struggle for you.

Congratulations!

YAY for Noa (and you!)
Updates: DH just turned 31 so for 2 months we are the same age. :p
And my EDD is 12/9/07, we had our big u/s a few wks ago and everything looked good. :D
So yeah, things are going well here, we finally told Holden about the baby right before the big u/s and he is excited.
I have gone back and forth over whether or not to send him to preschool this fall or wait for next and as it is now, we are waiting but as long as there are openings I could still sign him up. We just don't have very many options around here and they aren't exactly what I want (just typical public school preschools, not that there's anything wrong with them).
He is so funny these days, just cracks us up with the things he says. Yesterday he told me he was "behavioring to me" after I had commented about him being a little cranky.
And the questions have not stopped! He literally must ask 100 questions a day. Drives everyone except me crazy, and sometimes I'm right at that threshold myself. ;)
Hope everyone is having a great summer!

Since we have been talking about preschools Kaitlyn will start preschool next Monday and I'm SO scared about this. She will be going with her old brother (4) but they won't be in the same class all the time. They will be together in the morning and then they split up and towards the end of the day when the kids start going home they will back together again.
The reason I'm so worried is that she is SO shy. I don't even know if shy is the correct word. Whenever we take her anywhere and someone even looks at her she will hide behind my leg. If they ask her a question like what her name is she will just grunt at them or totally ignore them. It was a nightmare taking her to get her pictures taken, she kicked and screamed when we tried to put her on the table. Just this past weekend we went to grandma and grandpa house to drop off a b-day gift for papa and she just clung to me, and these are her grandparents that she knows very well!
She's been at the same in home daycare since she was 6 weeks old which is one of the reasons why I want to start her in preschool. She is very smart so the reason we are moving her is not for her to lear more (well partially) but more for her socialization skills. I don't want to just throw her into kindergarten without ever experiencing a school type setting. I'm just so nervous that she's going to cause a big scene and throw a tantrum when I leave. I know it will help having her brother there so maybe it won't be so bad but I am expecting the worst.

Dana congrats on Noa's progress!:) Things can change so much in just one short day!
Titia I'm so happy things are going well for you. I'm sure whatever you decide for Holden will be best. :)
Tyler starts school Sept. 6th. I'm very excited for him yet it's a bitter sweet time for me. He's my only baby and he is growing much too quickly! I'm glad I made the decision to only have him go to school 2 half days per week, he's at such a fun age and I am really enjoying the time that we spend together. For me it was important that Tyler attend school this year, next year he will be going to universal pre-K and that is 5 half days a week so I felt it was important for him to make a slow transition into the school environment, I feel things will go much easier next year if he is already used to being away from me for some time and already used to the classroom environment.
Here is a recent pic of my "big boy":

Octoberprincess~ what a handsome little guy you have there. Good luck with preschool next week!
Well yesterday was our first day. It didn't go too bad but I was there for a half hour before I got to leave. It was difficult having two children start, I was expecting my 4yo to do fine and he was the one with tears rolling down his face, broke my heart. Today he did great though and Kaitlyn was a nightmare. I decided to not stay as long this time and I ended up walking out while one of the teachers was holding her and she was kicking and screaming. This is what I was dreading. She was so excited about it on the way there and walking into the building she was fine but once we walked into her classroom she started clinging on to me. I think I need to just drop her off and leave, I know they say your not suppose to hang around because it makes it more difficult to leave which I'm finding out is true. I just wanted to stay for a little bit her first day. They did say she had a great first day yesterday so I know she does well, it's just leaving her that is so difficult.
Hopefully it will get better with time.

Thanks!
OMG, it's been a while since I have seen a pic of Tyler and you are going to have to lock that boy up! He looks like he should be a model - just gorgeous!
Nikki -
Congrats on surviving the 1st couple days of preschool!
As a former child care worker, I do agree that it is best to drop and go, but if you are having frets about it, we always told the parents they could feel free to stand just outside the door and see how quickly after they leave their little ones would turn off those tears. :)
Holden just cracks me up all the time with things he says and wants to do. It is such a fun age but I can't believe how much he is growing up and can do for himself. One night DH was sleeping on the couch b/c he broke his finger and didn't want me to bash it in the night so DS slept with me. Well next morning I noticed he didn't have the same undies or shorts on that he did the day before...Sure enough he had an accident in the middle of the night (which never happens so he must have been sleeping really hard) gotten up by himself and got dry undies and jammie shorts and put his wet ones in the laundry basket all w/o waking me up!
I felt a bit guilty like a bad mommy but mostly I couldn't believe he just took care of stuff like that!
Here is a pic of the soon to be big brother modeling the shirt we gave him after we told him the news.

October what a big boy!!! it makes me so sad but happy to see these pictures. I remember everyone posting the birth photos, then first bday pics and now preschool talk. so crazy. good luck next week!!
Tish Holden is so adorable but I am just AMAZED at what he did in the middle of the night!! Especially since Dylan is sooooo far from being PT.
Nikki I am sorry Katilyn is having a rough time. Dylan has already been through a year of preschool now. The first 3 weeks of dropoffs were rough, but he really was fine after I left. And then suddenly he was running off to play so fast he did not even say goodbye to me anymore. Now I am anxious all over again because he starts in a new class on Wednesday. I am sure I will feel like this for the next 18 years!!

Mod hat on here:
Your toddlers have turned into big kids (well, at least per CC's breakdowns!). Which means, it's time to have a thread in the Big Kid's Group Forums. If you'd like, I can just move this one (since it's still new) or you could start a new one. Please PM me if you'd like it moved, thanks! :)

No kidding! I still call Holden "baby" and tell him yes you are getting big but you will always be my baby!
Any RO's want to give me any tips on preparing the "old baby" for a "new baby"?

Oh geez, I can't believe I have a "big kid"! He definately is though.
Potty training- Isaac has been trained since the beginning of June. Really it went pretty easy, daycare was a huge help though- they were wonderful about it.
New babies- we didn't really prepare Isaac as he just turned 2 when Grant was born. We told him that his baby brother was coming and showed him my belly etc, but that was it. He did really well- only a few meltdowns over wanting to be held by mommy when I was busy with the baby. Now he tells me all the time he loves his baby brother, and gives him hugs and kisses and he love to help me with him. Lol, I think he thinks he is Grant's parent too because he will tell him "no, no, no GANT!" when he gets into things he isn't supposed to.

Steve's Sweety it definately works a lot better when I drop her off and leave quick. She actually is so much better now, two days in a row she hasn't cried! Yay I love Holden's shirt, we just have an "I'm the Big Brother" shirt for my two boys but I like that one better. He looks like he's ready for his new sibling.
Sal that is exactly what the teachers told me. Once I leave it takes a couple of minutes for her to stop crying and then she's great the rest of the day. I'm crossing my fingers but the last two days she went running off without crying! :D I expected weeks more of crying so I'm really excited about that. It really helps that she has her older brother there but they also get separated so I like that she doesn't depend on him being around all the time. They both love it though and I'm so excited about it!

I found you all!
I was wondering why I had not gotten any updates...
How is everyone?? Well I hope!
Lewis is getting to be a big boy! He is potty trained. His language exploded when he started school... that or maybe he just has more to tell me about since I am not with him all the time anymore.
Preschool was a big stressor.. we signed up for 2 different programs that cancelled and left us scrambling.. but we ended up with what I actually had originally wanted in the first place so all is well now/ Lew goes to the a Mon/Wed morning program at the same place we have gone ECFE classes since he was 7 weeks old. It is crazy how many of the parents I know from all the different classes. Plus Lewis goes to a Spanish Immersion Preschool on Tues/Thur mornings. Last year I had started going to a Mommy and me class at the spanish Immersion and had not known if he'd get into to it.. well he loves it. We were in Kansas City visiting a friend that speaks Spanish with her daughter and I love that he was able to speak some as well. He knows all his colors and numbers in spanish so far whcih is fun.
Lewis is a huge Momma's boy. It is funny to me, he has no problems going to preschool at all but when I go to work < I work 2-3 nights a week> about 45% of the time he flips out. I hate the way I know it makes my DH and My Mom feel but I am not sure of what to do. Anyone else going through this?

hellooooo,
long time no post; I didn't know that this thread existed.
sorry for the drive-by (will respond more later), but does anyone have their child(ren) in Montessori school/program? We're researching that right now for DS Sebastian and would LOVE any feedback/experience you have. Thank you very much.

Hello everyone!
It's been such a long time since I have been back to one of our threads. We are all doing well. Alexander turned 3 on May 16th and started preschool in September. He's going to Saint Margaret's (our Catholic church's school) on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 3 hours a day. His teacher tells us that he is adjusting nicely and he seems to love having other kids to interact with.
As for PT, Alexander had to be trained in order to start pre-school and I am so happy that it was a pretty painless process. At about 2 1/2, he was using the potty almost all of the time during the day and about two months before his 3rd birthday the processes clicked for overnight.
We had our first hospital visit in August. Alexander developed a hydrocele on his left testicle so it needed to be repaired. The operation itself took about 20 minutes but the processes of anesthesia and recovery were very difficult. I was able to go into the OR with him and hold him while he was put under - it was such a surreal experience. And, then had some very violent issues in recovery, which the nurse informed us is normal for some kids. Needless to say, I am so glad that all turned out well and that he is fine.
As for me, I am still home with Alexander full-time and I am taking nursing classes part-time. At this point, I am scheduled to graduate in December 2009 and then sit for the NCLEX (RN exam). I never thought I'd leave the field of mental health, but this schooling has been a great and challenging experience for me.
Here are some recent photos:

Anyone going to the Boston Wine Expo this weekend?
Hello,
I didn't know where to post this, but I was wondering if anyone was going to the Boston Wine Expo this weekend, specifically Sunday.
My company is in the business, so I got a free ticket for my self. Since we have no access to babysitters, DH would stay home w/ the kids.
So I was wondering if I would see a friendly face at this drunk-fest, I mean Wine Expo, hehheheee.
luckiestgirl: I think everyone is busy w/ life pulling in every direction. Since I got my part-time job, I can barely do my 'housewife/mom' duties, let alone have a minute to myself to post/read/share stuff. If I do have time to log on and read, I don't have time to respond.
So if you do have news, I love reading about them.
take care.

Josiah is starting soccer, his first game is next weekend! His team is the Sharks, thanks to mommy stepping out of her shell :D We had our first practice this week, and it didn't go well with him until the end. He had about 5 minutes of nap on our way to the field, and was grumpy about being there instead of at home. Plus, one of my mom's foster boys took Josiah's soccer ball out of my van without permission or even mentioning it, so he didn't have his ball at practice. Fortunately, he did warm up at the end and got to kick his ball at the goal a few times and practice being goalie.
