So I've been pretty religious about going to the gym lately and am quite proud of myself! However, I look like a homeless person while at the gym. Does anyone have recs for cute gym clothes? Nothing too skimpy, but still stylish?

I would really like some shorts that are too short and some pants that are extra long so I don't look like I am waiting for a flood.

:D

I usually get stuff at places like TJ Max or Ross because workout clothes can get really expensive.

Definitely Target. Their Prospirit line is fairly inexpensive and is very durable. Love that stuff.

Ditto Target too. They have great things - and great sales.

Also Old Navy has workout clothes. I never buy their tops, but always get a pair of yoga pants & capris and they last for over a year.

I also love, love Nike's dri-fit stuff. I've been fortunate to find it at a thrift store, but would seriously contemplate buying it at retail if I had to. There isn't anything that compares to just how they make their fabric.

I bought a jog bra from Old Navy a while back. I fell so in love with it that I immediately went out and bought two more (and then blogged about how great it was) :o

I tend to buy all of my stuff at either Old Navy or Target. But then again, as a plus-size gal, I tend to just stick with shorts/pants and a tee or tank - nothing fancy. But then again, how fancy to I need to be to sweat? I typically won't buy anything for the working out if it's not on sale.

I like Nike clothes, but sometime I feel like they don't really get how women work out and how they like to dress (i.e. shirts are either too baggy or too tight, pants don't have good stretch or are pure stretch, etc.). I recommend these two sites for quality workout clothes designed especially for women athletes.

I love Paiva (www.paiva.com). They have awesome sales, especially if you like nike and adidas.

You're welcome!

Oh - I also love lululemon - but I can't believe how expensive it is! I saw a USED tank on eBay going for over $50!

LOVE Title9 and Lucy.

As for lululemon - I've never bought anything there and probably won't since I read that they have come under criticism in the past for it's use of child labour.

I go to bebe Sport (http://www.bebe.com/gp/node/n/15391051). We have a couple in the malls here, but you can also order on-line (though on-line is more limited selection.) Really cute stuff, plus with their workout tops I don't have to wear a sports bra-and it's more comfortable for me. (I'm a 32DD, but wear a 34D according to the last measurement I had about two weeks ago.)

Heh...I was waiting for someone to mention this. Owner Chip Wilson was quoted in a magazine article (http://thetyee.ca/News/2005/02/17/LuluCritics/) as saying that he didn't see anything wrong with child labor, and even went so far as to suggest that it would be a great program for keeping our homeless kids off the streets and working. Nah, Chip, it's not like SCHOOL would be a better idea. He has also purchased a factory in China to continue the manufacturing of his clothing (that started out in a tiny workshop in Canada) - China is known for its numerous bad work policies and human rights violations associated with factory worker conditions.

But it sucks, because they made the best workout pants. :( If somebody can recommend a pair of pants not made by Lulu, but with the same quality and great fit, I'd be very grateful.

I've actually had pretty good luck with some of the workout clothes from Costco, of all places. The fabric has held up through numerous washes - my only complaint is that their pants are short - so that doesn't do the OP (or myself) much good. :o

I get most of my workout clothes from Target (with the exception of my sports bras, which I get at Sportsmart).

I work out 4-5x per week (cardio & weights) and the stuff I've bought at Target has held up well.

I can't fathom paying more than Target prices for workout clothes (not including gym shoes).

Wow. That is hideous.

Another vote for Target's ProSpirit line. I've worn their workout pants and shorts for awhile now. I also like Reebok's line too.
