Congratulations petdoc! I'm assuming your due date is 3/8/08 and not 5/8/08. :p I'm jealous that you've already had an u/s! My dr only does one at 20wks. They don't even want to see me for another month! (last time I had an appt at 6wks).

Jane&Andy opps! I fixed it! I am so used to writing may for dd#1. Congrats to you too!!
Don't be overly jealous about the u/s. I have a history of m/c and I was having some spotting over the weekend-hence the early u/s. Turns out I have a tiny subchorionic hemorrhage and am now on pelvic rest for two weeks. Luckily, it is super tiny so as long as I take it easy the baby is at no risk.

Gender Prediction: Twin Girls
Finding out the gender? Nope
Other children: Eliiot Judson 4/18/06

So I am joining tentatively. I seriously thought a week before I tested, 'I am pregnant with twin girls.' The catch is we are moving across country next Monday and I am starting a new job as a Univ Prof (nothing like a middle of the semester baby :o). I had my annual this past Monday, so I begged my dr. to do an ultrasound to see if there were two sacs. Well he sort of saw one, and so did HGC levels. Those came back on 5w 3d at 6300 - pretty good. So today I went in for another ultrasound. Since I had a c/s with Elliot my uterus is really high or something. So she found a sac that measures 6w, but didn't see a baby or a heartbeat. Then another tech looked and found a second sac:eek: but it is small. So still no real info (except my intuition of twins initially was correct). I took blood levels again and they are 11,000 in less than 48hrs, so something is viable. Looking on the web it says after 6000 then it should double in 4 days. My doubled in two - so does that mean twins?? Ahh our world is crazy :p Hoping they stick, but we will see.

Glad to see some familiar faces here and looking forward to the adventure ahead (at least most of it, not morning sickness)!!

Jane&Andy

petdoc - I'm sorry you've had some spotting. I hope the subchorionic hemorrhage does not cause you any problems.

Guinness - Congratulations! Will you be able to go back to the dr before you move?

Thanks Jane!

Congrats to petdoc and Guinness!

petdoc ~ Hope the hemorrhage doesn't cause any more issues.

Guinness ~ Congrats! Sticky vibes for both babies!

I have a similar story to Guinness. About a week before my BFP I had a dream that we were at the hospital and we had a baby girl. I could see her face even! So, we'll see if I'm right about that or not!

We did IVF (after 2 years of IF), so we have a greater chance of multiples. We are excited to have our first ultrasound in a couple weeks to find out:D

Guinness I am also a university prof and will be starting my second year this fall. At least we'll have the summer off with our babies! :p

Congrats ladies from a Sept '06 mom and a Oct/Nov '07 mommy to be of twins.

Guinness - can't wait to hear if it is twins. I didn't get a blood draw as my peri started seeing me at 9 weeks and did an u/s at that 1st appt, we clearly saw 2 babies at that point in time, total shocker.

Guinness
07-12-2007, 04:14 AM
Congrats kmmommy and JJP!!

Petdoc Sticky non-bleeding vibes to you. Take care of yourself and rest that pelvic ;)

Jane I will find out today if I get to see the dr. again. He might have me come in tomorrow for more blood levels, I doubt I will be luck enough for another u/s.

kmmommy The intuition stuff is crazy. I was right with my 1st, so we will see. My mom dreamed of a redhead little girl right before my brother was born. . . 3 years later I came, so hers was a little delayed, but right on.

JJP Yes, you are right. I am so looking forward to having the summer off with the baby (ies) if all works out. Just a little embarrassed to have to tell my new job, but I am sure I am not the 1st. Some blessing you just can't control and that is a good thing! I like to have control over things like this - not going to happen :o

QOTD How is everyone feeling?

I am feeling nausous off and on. My nipples were leaking milk for a while, but that has stopped. I feel bloated and pregnant all ready. I guess feeling pregnant is a good sign :) I am up at the crack of dawn because I can't sleep, but no sure if that is pg related or not as we do have lots going on.

Have a great day!! Looking forward to more March Moms joining us.

Guinness - I hope you are able to see the dr before you move and get some peace of mind!

intuition - none here. I was clueless last time about gender, I'm clueless this time. And I really didn't expect to get pg this time - we were trying however DH and I were apart for most of the crucial time so I figured our chances were slim to none. I was ok with that though since my due date would be so close to DS's birthday and that's not exactly ideal. :p

QOTD - feel fine so far. My boobs are just a tad bit tender and I have a little indigestion here and there. Last time around I didn't really have any symptoms til about 6wks.

I'm a SAHM although I work part-time at Gymboree. I don't expect to continue working there after baby #2 arrives. I'm not sure how long I'll last there, just gonna wait and see how I feel. I'd love to keep it up at least til I find out gender. If it's a boy then I'm totally set for clothes but if it's a girl then I'll need new stuff and the discount there is awesome!

I can't believe I actually get to be in one of these threads!!!!!!

CC Name: GinaDC
Me: Gina, 40
DH: Evan, 37
Married: 05/17/2003
TTC Date: Tried some before adopting DD, then started trying again 2 months ago. This was our first month using the ClearBlue Easy Fertility Monitor.
BFP Date: 7/11/07
EDD: 3/22/08 (by LMP, because the CBE just gave us 14 days of "high" fertility and didn't tell us a peak! I'm pretty sure implantation was Monday, though, as that's when I had what had to be implantation spotting.)
Gender Prediction: No idea!
Finding out the gender? Probably
Other children: Annika, 02/03/2006 (open domestic infant adoption)

So I did the POAS thing again this morning, since I had an extra test in the box, and the line that was a bit indistinct yesterday is now bright and unmistakable. That, plus the EPT saying "pregnant" (yee ha!) is enough to convince me that I'm not just imagining all this. I'm a breast cancer survivor (finished initial treatment 12/04, had a "just in case" course of Herceptin from July 05 to July 06), and between that and my age I figured it was insanely unlikely that I'd ever get pregnant. But four tests don't lie (I hope)!

So far, I'm not feeling any pregnancy symptoms, but it's so early, I'm not surprised. I keep thinking my BBs might be a teeny bit tender, but I think that's more because I'm looking for it than anything.

My big job now is finding a nurse-midwife practice. (My ob-gyn is fine if all you want is gyn, but she doesn't deliver babies anymore and I wasn't that in love with her anyway. Her partners only deliver at St. Barnabas Hospital, which is known for doing an inordinate amount of c-sections.) There are three in the area that are hospital-based and sound very good, so I'm probably going to try to do a consult with the one I like best on Monday. I can meet with the midwives, tour the hospital (which apparently has an awesome birthing center), and hopefully get my blood test done to confirm betas. I really hope I can convince them to do an early ultrasound...I just don't think I'll believe this is real until I see one!

I'm thrilled to be in this thread and looking forward to getting to know you all!

ETA: Okay, I'm a dork--how do you post in color? I tried a couple of different code options and apparently I'm way off.

Welcome Kates

ginadc What an incredible surprise! I also am having a hard time believing it too, after trying for two years with no luck! Of course, we had a lot of help this cycle (IVF).;)

Guinness DH has a gut feeling that we're having twins too. :p We have a 40% chance according to my RE's statistics. I had my betas checked at 18dpo and it was 732. The nurse said that a number like that likely indicates twins or a very healthy singleton. Our u/s in two weeks should tell us for sure!

QOTD My appetite has increased and I'm having a hard time sleeping (I sometimes wake up at 4am with a growling/upset stomach). My BBs are sore, but that's from all the progesterone shots and suppositories. On the up side, my allergies have virtually disappeared.:D

Kates, thanks for the tip--and congrats!!

Here's a question for everyone--when are you telling people? We're trying very hard not to tell anyone until the end of the first trimester (which my tentative calculations put at around September 8). I'm dying to tell my parents, as they'll be just over the moon, but I know so much could still go wrong and I don't want to break their hearts.

So far, the only people who know are DH, CC (hee), and some RL friends who are also linked to CC, so I figured they'd find out here anyway. (Plus, we're supposed to be getting together for drinks in a couple of weeks and they'd know when I stuck to water!)

I may break down and tell my parents once we've gotten a good ultrasound (if we get one during the first trimester--I hope!)...I don't know, though.

JJP
07-12-2007, 08:02 AM
We have already told several people, because they were following along closely with our struggle. Our parents know, and one of my closest friends who also did IVF. We will also probably tell our siblings soon and my husband's closest friends (we had a to cancel a trip to visit them because of the IVF cycle). Oh, and of course CC. :D

Congrats to JJP, Ginadc, and Kates! So happy to see our little group growing!

Thanks ShannongGH for the congrats! I've been reading when you send updates about Noa.

Ginadc ~ I'm so excited for you! I remember following Annika's adoption! What a wonderful miracle!

QOTD ~ Feeling okay. Quite nauseous and gaggy most days. Also pretty irritable. My poor family LOL!

We've already told our parents and siblings and DH told a friend whose GF is due about the same time. Otherwise we'll wait a bit. Unfortunately we have a huge wedding on 8/18 for some of our good friends and everyone will know when I don't drink.

Kates
07-12-2007, 08:13 AM
We've already told my parents and family (BIL & SIL), DH's parents and family (BIL & SIL), my best friend, my LJ friends and now CC :D.

One of my co-workers suspects something already! I was really, really sick the day I got my BFP, and was home for 3 days straight after that. It turned out to be a bad stomach flu. When I returned my co-worker sent me an email asking what was up. I told her the truth, I had the stomach flu, but I think she still suspects. Boy you take off a few days and all of a sudden everyone's asking questions!

Congrats GinaDC and Kates!!

Erika I am secretly hoping twins, we'll see.

JJP, my 6300 was 21dpo, so I guess based on yours mine would be high too for twins or a healthy singleton - we'll see. :D Are you hoping your DH's intuition is correct?

Telling People Well I would have liked to wait, but it ended up that we went to DHs graduation where my parents met us, Dh's parents met us, and some really good friends we stayed with. I usually drink and so it was going to be too obvious in this crowd. We told them. I have now told other friends as well . . I can't keep secrets :o

The numbers are so hard to interpret, so I'm trying not to speculate too much. ;) We would be thrilled either way, but are glad that the numbers are likely too low to indicate triplets. (We transferred three embryos, so it was possible.)

Gah, I want to tell someone so badly! My MIL is actually here today (sewing slipcovers for our couch--gotta love her!) and it's killing me not to say something. I had to make sure to hide the test kits in case she went in our bathroom.

Kmmommy, thanks! I think Annika will be a good big sister. It's funny--her birthmom was here for a visit this weekend and she really was hoping we would get pregnant. She wanted me to take a test on Tuesday morning before she left and I kept insisting it was too soon. Well, it probably would have been--but Wednesday wasn't! I hope she doesn't ask because I don't want to openly lie to her, but I definitely don't want to tell anyone else before we at least tell our parents.

Must hold out until we hear a heartbeat, at least!

WOW! We have a bunch of miracle babies in here, even a few potential multiples!!

Congrats to everyone :) :)

QOTD: How am I feeling?: I have been feeling way icky the last three days- really since I hit 6 weeks. All I have been wanting to eat is oatmeal, but don't feel like getting up to make it. I am convinced this baby is a sticky one because my parents visited and brought us a pizza from my favorite hometown pizza joint and the site of it made me gag.

Have you told anyone I have told the ladies in my playgroup. We have been meeting every Thursday since Bella was 6 weeks old. They already are planning a "sprinkle". Talk about putting the cart before the horse  but I was thrilled they are so excited for me.
We are waiting to tell my parents until we are out of the first trimester. My mom (who has severe clinical depression) can tend to be a "Debbie Downer" of sorts. She does eventually comes around but she has to digest the news for quite some time. She will say something that rubs me wrong so I want to wait until I am more level to deal with her.

I have a QOTD- Are there any ROs still nursing #1?
DD still nurses in the a.m. It usually buys me another hour or so of sleep so I am not really gunning to wean just yet. I am wondering when things will dry up and how she is going to react. I better prepare myself for some rough early morning.

Is anyone else not having symptoms yet? I realize that given the fact that I'm about 3 weeks, 5 days LMP, I probably shouldn't worry--hell, technically my period wasn't even due until tomorrow. But I hear about so many women who had nausea and breast tenderness practically from the moment sperm met egg that I worry. Not that I want to be barfy--but it'd be nice to have some sign, you know?

Guinness

ginaDC - mine come and go and I am 5w 6d. With my 1st I didn't have many symtoms until closer to 6w. I wouldn't worry (easier said then done I know) every one is so different. I completely understand the sort of wanting to feel sick so you believe you are pregnant. On the other end I sometimes worry that even though I am sick I am making them up and I really am not pregnant. . . . so no matter what we worry - unfortunately I have learned it is just the beginning of being a mom . . .worry, worry, worry, it is our job;)

ginadc
07-12-2007, 11:05 AM

y'all have been chatty today. :)

QOTD: have you told anyone? only CC and LJ (I have one IRL friend on CC who knows). Last time I waited til my first dr's appt to tell family but that was at 6wks so I really didn't wait long. This time I don't go in til 8wks, it's going to be hard to keep my mouth shut but I'm going to try to. I had playgroup today and I was just itching to tell them.

still nursing #1? nope, weaned him at 13 months. You may not dry up though. My SIL nursed her DD1 until she was about 8 months pregnant with DD2.

ginadc - I don't have any symptoms yet either, it's really nothing to worry about. Last time I had no symptoms til about 6wks. After that it was 24/7 nausea and a lot of gagging so I'm happy to be symptom free for now. I don't think you can predict twins based on the darkness of a line on the HPT but I could be wrong.

I am still in shock that I'm joining... it took us 30 cycles to concieve DS, that was a long road! This baby sort of just happened, it's wild! If we had our choice the kids would be more like 3 or 4 years apart... now I just hope they are birthday's are three or four days apart!

I'm feeling good, kind of wish I had more symptoms! With DS we had an u/s at 6.5 weeks because of fertility monitoring. Not so much this time and it's freaking me out! I just keep trying to think positive and hope all is well!

Yay Petdoc on your appointment!! Heartbeat is huge. That was what I wanted to see, but no such luck.

GinaDC - I don't think the dark color can tell much either, I think different batches have different amounts of dye. But who knows, sounds like many of us might have multiples, so join the wondering club :D

Nursing #1 - Nope, sadly my milk dried up at 9 months. Ironically I started leaking when I got pregnant with this one. Could've used that a few months ago. A very rare early pregnancy symptom I guess. It has stopped thankfully.

No scheduled appointments for me. I have to find a new dr. - ugg

Congrats Waver!! Welcome to the club of possible multiples :)

Here I am again up at the crack of dawn. My doctor said he doesn't need to follow up with me anymore here and everything looks good. So off on the move and will hopefully find a new Dr. in the next few weeks. Change of insurance in the midst of this all should make for an easy time
Hopefully I can find a Doctor that takes my current and will take my future. That would be great!! If anyone else is looking for new Drs. I got great advice from the old one. He said call L&D at the hospital you want to deliver at and pretend you are a nurse (not working) who just moved to town and ask for 3 recs of drs. They know who has good beside manner and doesn't do too many c/s etc. I am going to try.

Alright I am off. . . have a good day!!

Welcome and Congrats waver & Christy5599! :D

Christy5599 - I have the same issue with my due date being so close to my first baby's birthday. We were ttc but I really didn't expect it to happen this month since we missed almost all of the critical window (DS and I were visiting family). I'm just hoping that each kid gets their own birthday!

Guinness - good luck finding an ob! Good luck with your move!

I can't believe so many of you might be having multiples. There's really no chance of it for me, although it'd be an easy way for me to get the 3 kids I want (DH only wants two!). :p

symptoms - boobs are slowly getting more and more sore but that's it for now.

Each of the three times I've been pg I haven't gotten my mandatory 1 pimple the week before AF came. That's how I have a good idea if I'm pg.

When is everyone's appointments?
Mine are 7/27 for nurse visit and bloodwork; 8/17 for OB visit and u/s!

BFP Date: 7/13/07
EDD: 3/22/07 (by LMP)
Gender Prediction: girl??
Finding Out: YES!!
Other Children: Thomas 2/14/06

Congratulations everyone! :)

I just POAS today. I really couldn't believe it was positive b/c I have really been feeling like AF was coming. I haven't really had any symptoms other than really bad lower back pain which is usual when AF is coming but this is definitely more intense. When I was pregnant with DS I was peeing like a maniac and my BB's were very sore and tender. I haven't felt any of that.

Telling people We haven't told anyone yet but we are visiting in-laws next week so I guess we will tell them. It will be nice to do it in person. It will feel really weird though telling them before my parents. I do have friends on CC so I guess the cat is out of the bag. Maybe they won't look in this thread? ;)

POAS I only have once but I did buy a twin pack so I will probably do the other one just to be on the safe side. If I had known the dollar store carried tests, I would have been all over that!!

Appt 8/16/07--seems like an eternity!

Looking forward to getting to know you all better.

Congrats Meg! My BBs were very sore and I peed a ton when I was pg the first time too. Both my 2nd and this one have not been that way.

Congrats Meg!!

Cute bean PetDoc :)

kmmommy - hope you had a good night sleep and a better day today!!

QOTD - nausea for me. I also started needing tums more. A random one that DH noticed is snoring :o. He said I started snoring a week before my BFP and he thought, wow she hasn't done that since she was pregnant - kind of weird. Overall, I have pretty obvious pg signs.

Congratulations and welcome Meg! Looks like we're due date buddies, by LMP anyway! And our older kids are almost exactly the same age too; Annika's less than two weeks older than Thomas.

Petdoc--terrific ultrasound! I can't wait until we can do that.

Appointments--I have one on Monday (7/16) with the nurse-midwifery practice, mostly to get acquainted with them and also to confirm this pregnancy with a blood test. Then I'm guessing I won't have another one until around the beginning of August. I don't know how early in pregnancy they do ultrasounds (one of my questions for them Monday), but I hope I can get one before 8 weeks just because I think I won't breathe easy until I see this baby where it's supposed to be!

Congrats Meg! If I went by LMP we would be due the same day!! :) I am going by O, so I am only 1 day off!! :)

petdoc08 Love the u/s pic! I can't wait for my own bean pic!! :)

QOTD I wasn't as bitchy as I normally am near AF. I get bad PMS and while I was snippy at DH, I wasn't irrational! I was ravishingly hungry every few hours. But what really made me think I was pregnant (and has been there with my DS and my m/c) was my sense of smell was heightened! I mean I would smell things that I wouldn't have even noticed before.

Guinness ~ Thanks! I slept very well and feel pretty good today. The only downside is that I got called in to work since I'm the on-call manager. Oh, well.

ginadc ~ Yay for an appointment on Monday! It seems like the first real appointment is always the hardest to wait for as most docs/midwives don't see patients until 8-10 weeks (unless you're seeing an RE, etc.).

Ferris ~ Funny that you weren't as bitchy. I've been much worse. LOL

Thanks For the well wishes!!

Kmmommy LOL, that's funny. As this moment I am less bitchy, it won' stay that way!

Rambling I was just thinking that my last pregnancy I was basically a single woman. I was married, but DH and I lived in 2 different cities about 120 miles or 2 1/2 hours apart. We moved up to Washington state to live and 2 weeks before the school year started my DH got a huge job promotion near Seattle. We wanted to live near Seattle anyways, but I didn't want to give up my teaching job that close to the beginning of the school year and try and find something up here. So we lived apart, we had 2 apartments, 2 rents, 2 cable bills, etc. So anyways I was thinking that this pregnancy my DH will get to experience everything with me! Last time he only saw me every 5 days for only 2 days. I sure he would love to move away from me in a few months!!:p

Perfect Timing As a teacher being due in March is perfect! I will get 6 months off to be with DS and #2!!

Another QOTD How much Maternity leave do you get?

I get 0!! Yep, my school district just gives us short term disability for 6 weeks if you signed up for it! Luckily we planned to have another baby so I signed up. I also have about 30 sick days that I am going to use as well. It should put me till the end of the school year and if not I will take leave without pay.

QOTD ~ I can take up to 12 weeks; however, I only get 50% pay for the first 6 weeks. We bought a house in October so I'm not sure I'll be able to take the full 12 this time since our mortgage is more than our rent was. I was lucky enough to take 12 weeks both DS and DD.

Guinness

QOTD - No idea really. I am starting a new job. I think I get 8 weeks maternity, but I have no idea if it is pd or not. If this baby comes in March that takes me to May. I am a professor, so then I have all summer off. I am not sure what they will do with my classes etc., so I am willing to work with them to figure out that. This is the thing I am most worried about with this preg, timing of it all.

ginadc
07-15-2007, 05:12 AM
QOTD--I'm a freelance writer, so I can take as much or as little time as I like--I just won't be making any $$$ during that time! When we adopted DD, I worked pretty much from the time we brought her home. She's now in day care 3 days a week (started at 7 months), and I slam on work those days and during her naps on the other days. It was pretty easy to work around her sleep schedule the first 3 months-ish...it was after she got more active and mobile at 4-5 months that it became difficult.

So I really don't know yet exactly what I'll do in terms of taking time off. The nice thing is that since I don't commute, there won't be too much need to take a ton of time off before birth. Hopefully I can build us up a cushion that allows me to take a couple of months work-free!

QOTD - maternity leave? I'm a SAHM now so there is none! With DS I was a federal employee so I had none then either - it was all vacation and sick leave. And then I ended up quiting to stay home. I'm working part time at Gymboree now but I don't expect that to last through the end of this pregnancy. I'll keep it up for as long as I can - it brings in a little extra money, the discount is great and I enjoy the time out of the house.

QOTD - pregnancy signs? I really don't have any. With DS I was convinced that AF was on her way. I break out before AF. Apparently I break out when pregnant too. :p Lucky me. This time around I had some mild indigestion that isn't normal for me (for a few days) so I thought maybe I was pregnant.

Congratulations megc1!

telling people - we haven't told anyone yet, (besides my internet friends) but my MIL is very sick. So if she continues to decline DH wants to tell her before she dies. At which point various other in-laws might find out. And then I'd want to tell my family. So that may speed up the process. I'd like to wait out my first dr's appt (Aug 13) but right now that's my sister's potential induction date for her 3rd baby, so really not the best time for my announcement.

QOTD, I am incredibly lucky, I live in Canada, so I have a year for maternity leave. I am also paid during my maternity leave, 55% of my salary up to $39,000. I am also lucky that if I need to stop working because of complications during pregnancy, I can apply to have 15 weeks of pregnancy sick leave.
I'm sure my manager at work is going to be very happy hear that we are expecting (DH and I work at the same company), BUT, there is one person on my team that is on mat. leave until next April, one that is beginning her mat. leave at the end of July, and one guy that is on Pat. leave until December. That's a lot of babies!!!

QOTD: I get 6 weeks paid leave and then I will take another 6 weeks with short-term disability. I am so glad I have a new job b/c with my last pregnancy, all 12 weeks were unpaid. I am so jealous of you kates. Note to self--move to Canada for baby #3!!

ginadc:how cool that we have the same due date! funny about Annika and Thomas being close in age too.

The only pregnancy sign that I have noticed is being VERY emotional alternating with bitchy. I'm really fun to be around.:D I had a meltdown today. I was trying to get DS in his carseat and the straps were all twisted. It was 100 degrees and I just couldn't do it. I had a mini tantrum and finally DH came over to help. I think he is a little afraid of me. I would be too! It's going to be a long 9months!

QOTD: Maternity leave. I am currently a SAHM. DH will be taking two weeks off to help with the new baby/ DD but after that I'm on my own from 6 am to 5 pm. I was slated to return to vet school this fall, but seeing as the baby is due mid-semester I am not returning.

QOTD: Signs/symptoms of pregnancy- Complete and utter fatigue. It has been taking all of my being to get off the couch. The hot temps here haven't helped. I also get really bad skin- worse than when I was 13. I glow in more of a "Rudolf" way.

DH had the great idea to go to RibAmerica today, which is an outdoor BBQ festival. Between my morning sickness, my long standing aversion to meat on a bone, and the heat I thought I was going to die!! If one more sweaty fat guy sucking on pig bones bumped into me, I might have made the 6 o'clock news ;)

Telling People We haven't told anyone yet IRL, but I plan on telling my mom because she asked me to tell her when I got pregnant again (had a m/c in may) so she could help me out. I can't believe I an joining this thread. We are still in shock!

We had not been TTC at all, definitely avoiding, and received our Oops BFP yesterday (I'm still going to buy another test to check!!!). I had been late, but attributed it to my wacky cycles. We are scared, nervous, and excited (maybe not at first! :o) at the same time. We had planned on TTC this time next year, but what's a year, right? I noticed that there are a lot of RO with DC's my DS's age. I am glad we can share this journey together, because I am freaking out at such a close age difference.

I remembered this morning that my MIL mentioned last week that she had a dream that I was pregnant. Wait until she finds out!

After we get over the initial shock, I will be back to answer some QOTD's. Congrats to all the other mamas in here!

good luck with your move Guinness!!

I'm working extra hours at Gymboree this week so I am dog tired. I guess I'd rather work extra now, before the nausea and pregnancy exhaustion set in!

LRL - I'm not too terribly worried about the age difference between DS and DC#2. 2yrs apart is actually a bigger age difference than my siblings or siblings-in-law have between kids (15 months, 18 months and 22 months apart!). I figure they've all survived it, surely I can too! :p

The appointment was great! I love these midwives. (Well, I only met one of the four, but I love her and their philosophy.) They describe themselves as "middle-of-the-road"--in other words, it's definitely a hospital-based practice that works with obs and perinatologists if need be, and they don't totally eschew meds if that's what the woman wants. It's basically all woman-directed: you want an epidural, you get it. You want to avoid one at all costs, you get that. They have an incredibly low section rate--in fact, this year they've only had one "unplanned" one so far (out of some 80 births)--there were a couple of planned repeat sections for previous patients who could not or didn't want to do VBAC. Their episiotomy rate is also well below 10%. I'm totally in love with this practice.

So I get my blood test results back sometime after 12:30 tomorrow. Then, I have my first ultrasound set for August 1, when I'll be 6 weeks 3 days, give or take. (Two weeks from Wednesday. So soon--and yet it seems such a long time away!) My first official prenatal appointment is August 16.

You know, it just hit me: the last time I had this many doctor's appointments so close together, I was in cancer treatment. I like this a lot better! :D:D:D

Hello all, happened first time again as it did with Mo, I guess we are pretty fertile (it is good I am so psycho about BC when we are not trying).

Maternity Leave-I get 6 weeks paid, vaginal, 12 weeks paid c-section. I will most likely have a scheduled c-section at 38 weeks as I got really bad preeclampsia with Mo. So I will be taking 12 weeks paid, which will take me to June and then get the whole summer off (I am a teacher). We will also be deciding this winter if I will be going back at all.

Telling People-IRL, we have just told my mom and Ed's parents. We wanted to wait until we went on family vacation in August to tell everyone, but MIL found a note DH wrote me and deduced it from there. Can you tell she always has more babies on mind?

Symptoms-Morning sickness has started already-yuck! I had it pretty bad with Mo too, so I am thinking boy at this point.

Guiness, have a good move--now is such a good time.

ginadc sounds like you had a great appt. You mentioned you are a writer. May I ask if you are the same gina as on WC? I remember long ago a gina contacted me about an article about wedding disasters. Is that you? We had a very cold wedding--and not sure we were disastery enough for your article. That would be a neat coincidence after so many years.

QOTD: my first appt is 8/6. My main symptom is that I am sooooo crabby (well ok, bitchy, really) and tired. My DH even said to me, one night before I tested, you *have* to be pg.

Thanks for the congrats ladies! We are officially excited about this baby and have decided that we will survive, esp. with support on here from other mamas with the same age difference in DC's.

This pregnancy I am feeling different. I was really tired early on with DS, and I am right now (that would explain why I can't seem to keep my eyes open lately if I stand still, sit down, or lay down). This time around I seem to have a lot more nausea. Not good, esp since DH can't lift DS right now because he has just had surgery.

You have a lot of quiet followers from the November 2005 Mommies group, and one of them just posted in her LJ that you are expecting a March 2008 baby. How wonderful for you and for your DH, and how wonderful for Annika that she's going to be a big sister!!

:: blink :: blink :: really? Aw, Alb, that's so sweet! I'm really touched. You guys were all so supportive when the 11/05 adoption fell through. Of course, now I'm actually happy that it did, or we wouldn't have Annika, the most amazing little girl in the world. (Her latest words: shoes, Elmo, and 'over there.') (Well, more like 'oba dayah,' but still...just heard the latter for the first time in day care this am and I wouldn't have believed it if her teacher hadn't confirmed that she's been using it there. Go figure!) Anyway, I'll be crossing my fingers for an April baby for you!

Waver, yes, that's me! I included your story but I think my editor cut it...she went for some really over-the-top stuff. Wow, that was awhile ago...2003, probably, right? Good times on the old WC!

Now just waiting for those beta and progesterone numbers to come in, sometime after 12:30. Gah--I really have to stop obsessing and get some work done! No real serious symptoms yet, although I have noticed that I'm getting hungrier more often at unusual times. My stomach was growling in bed last night (after a good-sized dinner), which never happens!

ginadc I am having the same constant hunger issues. Last week I had a huge cinnamon roll from Cinnabon and that seems to have helped. ;) I can't wait to hear about your betas!

kmmommy
07-17-2007, 08:48 AM
gina ~ The obsessing has just begun. LOL If it's not betas and symptoms, it's weight, purchasing furniture, finishing the nursery and then on to waiting for the birth. You know the obsessing that comes when the baby comes. :)

I'm jealous of those that are hungry. I can't eat more than once a day and that's a struggle. I'm taking 25 mg of B6 3 times/day for nausea and it's not really helping. So far the only thing that really helps is cinnamon disc candies. I did wake up at about 4am this morning and ran to the bathroom to puke for 15 minutes. I had to have DH get me a cool cloth for my neck and forehead and I just whined about not wanting to do this again. I was sick almost the entire pg with both my kids and I'm not looking forward to that this time around.

Sorry for the vent...I'm thankful we're able to conceive and carry babies easily. I was hoping the 3rd time was a charm and I would be able to enjoy it rather than being so sick.

Yipee!!! Results are back and the midwife called them "excellent!" I was 4 weeks 2 days LMP yesterday when tested, and the results were 561 HCG and 16.3 progesterone. :: whew :: One giant weight off my shoulders. They're repeating the test on Thursday just because I want the reassurance, but they think everything looks great. YAAAAAYYYY!!! :D

yay for good numbers Gina!

Congratulations edsbabyrhi!

kmmommy - I'm sorry you are feeling so terrible!

obsessing - I'm obessing somewhat over DS's big boy room but nothing specific to the baby yet. I have a gender neutral nursery that we'll move DS out of. If I have another boy then I'm set for clothing and everything. If I have a girl then I'll add some girl accessories to the room and will need new clothes - then I can really obsess and have fun!

Gymboree is working me like a dog so I've been too tired to post much. I'm talking to the manager tonight and if they can't reduce my hours back again then I'll be quiting. My MIL is still very sick so I just can't deal with the long hours on top of everything else. It's not working for me or for DH.

still no real pregnancy symptoms yet. still a long, long wait til I see the dr (Aug 13).

ugh, I'm just too tired to keep up. sorry guys.

Thanks for the warm welcome ladies. I'm so happy and thrilled to be a part of this group.

Unfortunately since my last post the nausea has really kicked in. I'm walking around feeling totally green. Last week, it only happened if I didn't eat often but now it's pretty much constant. The only thing that sounds good to me is saltines and a toasted bagel with cream cheese. I had one for lunch today and even had trouble with my first couple of bites. I hope it doesn't continue to get worse.

I'm not sure how to get through the day at work. I've gotten up from my seat a half dozen times to walk the office floor or go to the bathroom. I can't sit in one place or look at the computer too long. I've got lots of snacks and have been sucking on preggie pops (the sour ones really help). I worked at home when I was preggo last time and it was much easier since I could wear what I wanted, nap when I needed, etc. Any ideas from other working moms?

Gina--so glad to hear the numbers are good!

Congrats and welcome tgr!

kmmommy--sorry about the nausea. i had ms with my first pregnancy but i don't think it ever woke me at 4am! i hope you can find something that works for you.

jane&andy--definitely sounds like you could use a break. will the manager be understanding?

Hope everyone else is doing well. I have been feeling just kind of blah. I feel a little nauseous and don't have much of an appetitie. Nothing sounds good to me. I have been crying at the drop of a hat. Commercials are particularly upsetting to me for some reason. I will be so glad when the 1st tri is over with! I have a long ways to go.

Just went back through and read the thread.

QOTD Symptoms/Feeling Okay? Lots of fatigue, frequent urination, nausea/indigestion, sore bbs, really crabby moods.

Sharing the News~DH and I are going to try to hold out until Grandparents Day - second Sunday in September. Then we'll tell both sets of parents. The only people who know are this group and a few over in the TTC with Charting thread. There are also a few over on another board.

Scheduled Appt's~None yet. I've got to find a new dr.

How many POAS?~I tested yesterday and got a BFN. Then I tested again this morning to get my BFP. I have 3 tests, so I'll probably use it up tomorrow or Thursday.

Hi, Ferris! *waving*

Tell Tale FPS~Hot Flashes, which coincidentally I haven't gotten yet this time. Last time I didn't have sore bbs at all though.

Maternity Leave~DH and I both work from home, so no need for it with us.

Thanks for the congrats!!! :D

megc1 - my manager is new so I really don't know how she'll be. I've only worked with her once. I tried to quit back in early June (when we had no manager) b/c the hours were too much and then they agreed to reduce my hours. Now they're creeping back up and skyrocketed this week. I just can't be responsible for working more just b/c we're short staffed. I need to stick to my 2 shifts per week or leave (I'm working 5 this week).

well, I'm still a Gymboree employee for now. :) My schedule is not so bad for next week (partly b/c I misread it and partly b/c she changed it). My manager was very understanding, since she is new she was unaware of my MIL's condition (she's on a ventilator right now, DH and his family are meeting with her drs today to discuss things). She actually wanted me to work again tonight but I said no way! Partly b/c I'm just too tired but mostly b/c DH will not be home tonight to watch DS. My BIL is flying in from Japan tonight (he's in the army, hasn't been home for a year and a half now) so I am using his visit as motivation to clean my house. So now I am off to bathe the dog and shower while DS is napping!

still no symptoms beyond exhaustion, and I think I can blame 90% of that on Gymboree. :p:rolleyes:

the thread looks great kmmommy. :)

Congratulations to all the new members of the thread!

The thread looks great, I can't believe how many March '08 Mommies there are!

Jane&Andy, I'm sorry to hear your MIL isn't well, that must be so stressful for you and your family.

I have to admit, I'm having a hard time keeping up with the thread. MS has hit (ha, and I thought I was going to get off this time!) and I feel positively ill. I'm going to try to see my GP at some point today to see if she can prescribe something for me.
I'm also going to talk to my Manager at 11:45 today to tell her I'm PG. She's awesome, so I know she'll be happy for me on a personal level, but I'm still a little nervous all the same. I am going to have to tell her about all the appointments I'm going to have, as I have a high risk pregnancy. Right now I don't have a lot of appointments but at the end of my pregnancy, I'll be seeing my high risk Dr. and my Endocrinologist once a week and having NST once or more per week. Yay.

Jane&Andy~I'm sorry to hear about your MIL. :(

I just got off the phone with my family physician. I will be seeing her on August 9. My OB from first time around has since retired, so I have to find a new one. I'm going to see if she can give me a list of OBs in the area and possibly provide me with some information as to local hospital's VBAC policies. My prior OB indicated that I would be a good VBAC candidate, so I'd really like to try for one.

Jane ~ I'm sorry your MIL doesn't seem to be improving. Glad the manager worked with you.

Kates ~ Did you post why you have to see a high risk OB? Sorry if I missed it. I'm definitely forgetting things and missing them more easily these days.
kmmommy, no, I guess I didn't post that. I have pre-existing Type 1 Diabetes. I am insulin dependant and wear an insulin pump. I went to a high risk Dr. and Endocrinologist for my last pregnancy too. I had some pretty major complications at the end of my pregnancy last time, so I'm pretty nervous about this pregnancy. So far, so good though, I've been to see a dietician and she helped me to figure out what I should be eating when. The diet is really, really restrictive, and I'm pretty much going to have to follow it to the letter for the third trimester.

kmmommy The thread looks great :) Thanks a bunch.

Jane&Andy: I am glad gymbo is working with you. I am so sorry your MIL is not doing well.

tgr68 Good luck on the search for a new OB. Bravo for wanting to try a VBAC. My area is so behind that very few hospitals promote them.

Me: m/s has hit fullforce. I feel so icky. Tonight I am headed to buy some seabands. They really helped me out last time. My poor DD has a stuffy nose and cough. Her little snotty cough makes me gag and I feel so horrible about it. On a more positive note, tomorrow I get to see my little bean again :)

kmmommy

Jane&Andy Sorry about your MIL. It's good that your manager was so understanding, especially under the circumstances.

Kates I hope your manager is understanding as well.

I just got my second beta test results and everything is good! :D (In case anyone wants to know, it was 7,996 at 5w4d; first beta was one week before and was 732). Now we just need to hold out until our ultrasound next Wednesday! We are anxious to see if there is one or two. :p

kmmommy
07-18-2007, 09:48 AM
petdoc08 ~ We cross-posted. Maybe I'll have to try Sea Bands too. I don't want to do this for 9 months again. Where do you buy them?

petdoc08
07-18-2007, 09:51 AM
kmmommy I got mine at Walgreens last time but they only came in a hospital blue sweat band material. I have read they come in a more discreet black knit so I am on the lookout for those this time around. The blue seabands are a little to Napoleon Dynamite for my tastes. :p

Kates I hope everything goes well, and that the diabetes stays under control.

JJP, yay for the second round of Betas! Are those numbers indicative of a multiple pregnancy?

petdoc08, good luck for your ultrasound today, I hope things go well!

Thanks for all the good wishes and support re: my Diabetes. I'm just taking things one day at a time for now, and it's going ok!

I think I may be a little ahead on this one, but is anyone contemplating or already on medication for morning sickness? I feel badly, I had to give in yesterday and go to my Dr. to get a prescription. I feel so much better, but I hate taking any sort of medication, especially when pregnant. The only physical drawback has been that I'm soooo tired, if it's even possible to be more tired that I was

petdoc08
07-19-2007, 09:09 AM
JJP: Yay for good betas :) :)

Kates: I am contemplating saying something at my appt. today. I only threw up once in 9 months with DD and yesterday I lost count. I couldn't keep anything down, not even plain oatmeal. I did get some seabands and they are helping a little bit. I was able to stomach a plain bagel today. Try the seabands to see if they help in conjunction with the meds. They are only $5 so its not a huge loss if they don't help.

Oh- and the joy of being a RO (TMI ahead)-bladder control is NOT what is was before and adds a whole new element to vomiting. YUCK!!!

My appt got pushed back to this afternoon so I am anxiously awaiting seeing my little bean.

JJP
07-19-2007, 09:10 AM
yay for the second round of Betas! Are those numbers indicative of a multiple pregnancy?

Thanks Kates! :) My numbers are on the higher end of the normal range, which means that a singleton or multiple pregnancy are both possible. Either a singleton or twins would be great, we just hope it isn't triplets!

As for medication, I haven't asked for anything yet because my m/s hasn't been too bad so far. You shouldn't feel bad about taking medication. It is helping you feel better and is safe for pregnancy. I have lots of friends who've take meds for m/s and they gave birth to very healthy babies.

kmmommy
07-19-2007, 10:49 AM

Kates~I'm sorry about the morning sickness. :( My first pgcy I was on meds for my m/s from 6 wks until DD was born. So far so good this time around though. *Knock on wood.* Hopefully your m/s won't last long.

petdoc08~My area isn't all that progressive when it comes to VBAC's either. I know of one hospital around here will let you attempt one if you show up to the hospital and have the baby between the hours of 7am and 3pm. Once you are outside those times, they automatically to a repeat c/s. I hoping not to have to go to that hospital though. *Crossing fingers.* LOL about the bladder control. Be glad it's not the other part on that end you having difficulty controlling. I got really sick during my first pgcy and ended up pooping on the floor during a puke fest. :o

Still feeling pretty good over here. I'm experiencing quite a bit of indigestion, so my new best friends are my Rolaids after just about every meal. I'm peeing a lot more this time around too.

JJP
07-19-2007, 12:45 PM
petdoc Oops, we must have cross-posted. Thanks, and good luck with your u/s today! I'm glad to hear that the seabands are working, at least a little.

tgr68 That's strange about your local hospitial and VBACs. I hope you can find someplace else. I hear you on the indigestion. I am avoiding taking Rolaids or Tums because it messes up the absorption of my thyroid medication, but I think if I'm outside a 4-hour window of when I've taken my thyroid meds it might be OK.

LOL, another thing to look forward too! Hope you appointment went well.

JJP Your #'s look great!!

Kates Sorry to hear about the morning sickness!

Me BB's are starting to ache, but they have already grown at least 1 cup size. I am popping out of my bras, thank goodness for tank tops to keep them at bay. I don't want to already go a buy a new bra!

Also, it's been horrible to potty train my little guy. He poops in his potty and I am trying so hard to show him I am happy and I am gagging the whole time. Today I had to have my mom clean up when she came over! Thank goodness it was like 2 minutes after he pooped.

I have also been having a metallic taste in my mouth. I remember having that with my DS, and last night it ruined my ben and jerry's!! I think it happened whenever I had milk products.

Appointment went fine today--just a quick check and urine test (like I hadn't done about 5 already! LOL). My next big appointment is July 30th for my ultrasound, bloodwork, and OB nurse.

I am so sorry for those with morning sickness!!! I really hope I miss that this time. With DD, I was pretty lucky (only threw up once or so, but some nausea and aversions until about 15 weeks). It's so weird--even thought DD is only 14 months old, I feel like I barely remember being pregnant. I am so cranky and tired this time, and my boobs aren't as sore. Unfortunately, I am eating everything that isn't nailed down, and I have got to control myself. I was NOT this, ahem, out-of-control with my eating last time around. I am so afraid of gaining tons of weight. Already I have gained 5 lbs. Whine.

I mentioned a week or so ago that I would try to post my BFP pic because it is quite dark. Here ya go Gina!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v486/kms03/100_2424.jpg

Names ~ This is definitely early but has anyone started thinking of names yet? It helps me stay excited even though I'm not feeling well. We can't come up with much for boys. For a girl we like Ashlynn, Mara and Keira with Taylor as a middle name. For a boy I like Gavin but DH says no.

tgr68
07-19-2007, 08:52 PM
kmommy~Wow! That is a dark BFP!

Baby Names~We have two boys names picked out that we both like. They are very similar, but DH is leaning one way and I the other. We haven't found a girl's name that we can agree on. I really like Fiona Maisie (means "fair pearl"); however, DH thinks it sounds stupid, so we're back to square one there.

Jane&Andy

Congratulations solongtogo and makena!

man oh man, this has been one hell of a week! Long hours at Gymboree, lots of worry over my MIL and then 3hrs at the ER yesterday getting stitches in my poor baby's forehead. He fell at a friend's house and his head split right open! :( I am so damned exhausted!

names - a girl will be Emma Lucille (after our grandmothers, picked that name before we were even engaged). A boy will probably be Benjamin Alexander or possibly Alexander Henry (none of those are family names, we just like them)

petdoc08
07-20-2007, 05:21 AM
Another big congratulations solongtogo and makena!

Names: Penelope (nn Poppy) and Evelyn are the forerunners for girl names. We can't figure out a middle name for either. Evelyn is my paternal grandmothers name. DH just really likes Penelope (it is growing on me). Corbin Bernard is our boy name. Bernard is a family name on DH's side. Thank goodness I can use it as a middle name. ;)

I didn't get my u/s yesterday because they were too busy with rescheduling all the appointments because of an emergency (One of the mws had a death in the family). I just got my yearly gyno stuff and my welcome packet. I am not too upset about the u/s because DH couldn't make the rescheduled time so he would have missed it.

It was our 4th wedding anniversary yesterday and my sweet DH brought home FOUR dozen red roses. They are so so pretty and make my morning sickness a little more tolerable.

Jane&Andy
07-20-2007, 05:38 AM
petdoc - Penelope Anne? Penelope Grace? Since it's a long first name I think a one syllable middle name sounds good with it. Same with Evelyn, I think. Don't mind me butting in. :p I'm sorry your u/s had to be rescheduled.

I still have a long wait til my first appt and it's driving me up the wall.

Ferris
07-20-2007, 06:00 AM
petdoc08 Oh I love the name Evelyn. It was the girl name for my DS! But since he ended up being a boy we went with Douglas. :p Douglas and Evelyn were my grandparents that were married. We thought it would be odd if we named our girl evelyn even though we would have called her Evie. Oh, how nice of your DH!!

Names So we are leaning towards Hazel, but we would call her Ellie. I also love Fern, both are family names. So it might be Hazel Fern. But boy does that sound like an old fashioned name!! We have no clue about boy's names, so that means we will probable have a boy. With DS we didn't tell anyone the names so we wouldn't get comments, but this time everyone already knows that we like the name Hazel for a girl. When we officially decide the names we won't tell anyone!!

Jane & Andy Sorry that your appointment is so far away. My first appointment with the Doc isn't until August 20th! When I go in on July 27th for my blood work I might ask nicely if I could be seen early, but I am a member of a HUGE PPO group so I doubt it.

kmmommy :eek:That is super dark! What DPO was it taken?

Thanks everyone. I'm a little terrified, but excited still. I had a terrible pregnancy last go round so I'm hoping this one will be nothing like the first. And it's cool that there are a huge number of Repeat Offenders in here :)

names I love Evan for a boy and I will certainly push for it, no girl names yet. It's so hard to name a girl...too many fabulous options.

I did make my first appt...an ultrasound at 10 weeks on September 10, and per my numbers I'm only 3 weeks, 4 days today, so I've got a ways to go. And I'm terribly sorry for those of you getting morning sickness, I remember how awful it was last time. I feel good so far...I've got cramping, but if I recall, I cramped early on last time as well.

I am so excited :D

JJP

kmmommy Wow, that is dark! Isn't it cool to see a positive? I was so glad to have a CBE test, so I could finally see the word "pregnant" pop up! :D That stupid test has been taunting me for years.

petdoc Sorry to hear that your ultrasound was cancelled, but it's good that DH will be able to come next time. What a lovely anniversary gift from him as well!

names Everyone has chosen such lovely names! I have a good friend named Hazel, so I have lots of positive associations with that name. For a boy we are thinking Damien, which is DH's middle name and for a girl Veronica, which was my great-grandmother's name.

Yesterday I felt fairly ill, lots of nausea and very tired. It makes this all feel more real, so I'm not too upset yet. Luckily I haven't thrown up yet either, so I have it pretty good so far.

Congrats and welcome solongtogo! I'm biased and love your boy name choice, as that's my DH's name.

kmmommy, dayum, that is dark! I think Gavin is a great name for a boy--why doesn't your DH like it? I think it would be high on our list except it's too close to rhyming with Evan, DH's name.

Names--we're all set if it's a boy: Ian Michael. We've been in total agreement on that one since before DD arrived. Of course, now our good friends are due with a boy at the end of August and are apparently naming him Ian George, but we'll just have to have two Ians around because we're not changing ours !

Girl names are much harder. We totally agreed on Annika and were just in love with the name; we can't seem to settle on another we like as much. We love Gabrielle, but we have other good friends with a DD named Gabrielle, and we see them very often and she's such a strong personality--we know our daughter would always be "the other Gabrielle." Our list currently is:

Miranda
Genevieve (nn Vivi or Evie)
Katia (I know it's a nickname, but we love it)
Isabel/la (love it, but it's so common)
Milena
Tessa (I love, DH not so much)
Elise

Yesterday's bloods are back! Big yay on the HCG, which went from 561 to 3174 in 3 days. Yahoo! The progesterone isn't quite as good--it went from 16.3 to 14.4, which is not what we want to see. The midwifery practice likes to keep levels at or above 15 (even though I guess 11 or above is considered okay). So I'm going back in to get stabbed again on Monday; if the progesterone goes back up, great. If not, they'll put me on supplements.

But the big important news is the HCG--which is very exciting. I feel very reassured by those numbers!

Welcome to all the brand new BFP mamas!

Gina- Those numbers are fab!

Names- We have a girls name, but have NO idea on boys names. We constantly tell DS that he has screwed any future brother out of a good name because we couldn't think of anything but DS's name! Lucky little firstborn!

So far, this pregnancy is SO much different than when I was pregnant with DS. I have constant nausea, and am SO hungry all.the.time. With DS, I didn't show until I was about 7 months pregnant, but I am scared that with all the eating and since my midsection is pre-stretched from last time that I may out myself sooner than I want to! Argh.

I also may be starting a new job, and I have a feeling my boss will be none too happy with my news. This is part of the reason why our BPF totally threw us off- Luckily my maternity leave would start after our major government audits are completed.

Eh, we are thrilled. I have to share- Last night we had a earthquake which totally jolted us because the epicenter was so close to our home. DH jumped up and ran to get DS (we usually wouldn't, but this was strong) and he was back before I got out of our bedroom. After everyone calmed down, he told me that we are going to need to plan who grabs which child in another emergency/earthquake. Weird to think about! :p

I hope everyone is avoiding M/S and having a great Friday!

Ferris ~ I wasn't charting so I don't know exactly but it was CD38 so probably 16DPO or so. There was no doubt about the BFP and that we are getting a surprise though. My cousin's DD is named Hazel. She's 2.5 and it fits her perfectly. I think a lot of the old names are coming back.

Jane ~ Sorry you still have to wait so long for your appointment. My doctor appt. isn't until 8/17.

JJP ~ It is great to see. I was slightly freaked since it was not planned at all.

Gina ~ Yay for great beta numbers! I don't really know why DH doesn't like Gavin. He's just stubborn I guess. ;) Great names!

LRL ~ Sorry about the scary earthquake. Glad everyone is okay! We can't come up with a boy name either. Our DS got the only one we ever agree on.

thanks kmmommy and Ferris. I'm just a whiner when it comes to the first trimester. :p I hate all the worry about something going wrong. Not that the dr's appt would do anything to stop anything, but it would make it feel more real. Last time I didn't have to wait quit so long, I'm just not a patient person!

gina - yay for good numbers!

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to stop by and give my update... my first u/s is scheduled for Thursday, 7/26. It's good timing as we are going away next weekend to see a ton of my family. Assuming everything checks out well then we'll spill the beans over the weekend and start telling other people after that. My intake appt is on 7/31.

I've had a rough couple of days, I've just been SO tired I can't keep my head up and with trying to look after my son it's been really difficult. Where this pregnancy was a surprise I feel like I'm still working on the pregnant mindset that was so easy to get into with DS especially since we tried for him for 30 cycles!!!!! I'm sure once the first trimester fatigue/nausea stops kicking my butt I'll be doing much better!

Glad to see so many mommy's joining the thread!

Hello everyone! Welcome and congrats to the new arrivals. I am not going to go back and do SOs as I am so far behind, but wanted to jump in from here.

We are all moved in and obviously internet is back up. I was a typical Uhaul trip with smoke and pulling over a time or two. Luckily it was only A/C so poor DH powered through a long hot trip. We are here for a few days and then off for a week trip to CA. Yikes, it has been a busy summer.

So will have to put off finding an OB until we return. I am definitely still pregnant though. Was worried a bit, but nausea has hit, I am eating too much trying to keep it at bay, and my aereolas are ginormous  That was the give away this morning. I also feel like I am starting to show, which is that twin pregnancy idea running through me still. Only time will tell.

I can't believe you all have names etc going already. That scares me. I keep thinking of things, but it doesn't feel like I am naming my kid yet. Olivia and Isobel are favorites for girls. Boys I am completely clueless.

Alright, I know that was a completely scattered post. I do want to say Jane I hope your MIL is doing okay. Thinking of you!! Everyone else - have a good rest of the weekend.

Hi Everyone! I am a new chatter to this site and was referred by a friend who had her baby in February. She let me know that this was a great way to meet others who are going through pregnancies at the same time. So, Congratulations to everyone who is expecting and it's nice to meet everyone. I was married on June 9, 2007 and found out a month later I was pregnant. I call our baby "Our Wedding Night Baby"! Congratulations Leesa. :)

My MIL passed away Friday night. So Joey and I have been home alone all weekend while DH has been out dealing with funeral arrangements and such. He's actually gone into work today b/c he is swamped there. We have the wake tomorrow night and the funeral on Tuesday morning. Apparently 2 of my siblings-in-law now know I'm pregnant, one asked if that was why I hadn't gone to the hospital (MIL had a hospital acquired infection so I was avoiding contact with her for DS and baby #2's sake) and the other was present for the conversation. I had left it up to DH, he could tell people if he thought that bit of good news might help but he didn't really want to tell them yet. So, as far as I know it hasn't spread farther than those two and we will continue as planned and wait out my dr's appt next month before telling them.

Hi ladies -

I've been reading along but M/S has kicked into high gear. All week I've been miserably nauseous and trying to fight it off by eating. I feel better if I manage to eat someone but it's a struggle to get anything down. I've been eating lots of saltines, bananas and bagels with cream cheese. I haven't even been able to keep my prenatal down, the vitamin makes me feel so sick.

Thursday the puking started and has been a daily occurence all weekend.:( I slept nearly all day yesterday and still felt pretty miserable. I remember it being worse last time and starting around this time too. I just hope it goes away soon - I can't imagine making it through another work week. Esp since no one there knows yet.

I've got to run and grab a nap. DD just fell asleep for her afternoon nap and I've got to take advantage of that. DH is working until late tonight so I'm alone with her all day. Wish me luck. I promise to do SO's when I'm feeling better.

QOTD - What kind of vitamins are you taking and when during the day?

Jane Jane, I am so sorry to hear about your MIL. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Leesa Congrats and Welcome

Mom22 Sorry to hear that your m/s sucks

me m/s struck this morning (not horrible), plus a terrible headache. We were at my IL's so I was trying to play it off as a sinus headache and stayed upstairs for a while.

QOTD-Vitamins My Doc recommended I take children vitamins because they are cheaper than pre-natal and have all the same stuff. So I started taking chewable fruit favored one from Costco in the morning. It's like $9 for 300 vitamins.

Mom22 - my m/s has hit too (7w 2d). I too feel better with food, but that means my psyche says try everything to make it go away. Puking started today, it just plain ol' sucks. I take target pre-natals. They don't seem to bother me . . . so far at least.

I got a recommendation for docs in the area. I think I will call tomorrow and make an appointment for when I return from CA. I so don't want to travel, but I know I will miss the opportunity for DS to meet lots of family he has never met.

Jane ~ I'm very sorry to hear about your MIL. Take care.

Leesa~Welcome and congrats!! :D Don't be afraid to ask lots of questions.

Jane~I'm so sorry to hear about your MIL. :(

Mom22~Ugh! Hope the m/s doesn't last long for you.

QOTD: Vitamins~I'm taking the Spring Valley brand from Walmart.

I'm doing okay here. After my painting stint the other day, I started very lightly spotting (more pink to peach tinged CM than full out spotting). I took it very easy the rest of the day, and it has completely gone away now.

No m/s yet *knock on wood*, but I've had lots of indigestion. Crabby mood still continues. (I was ready to throttle the ILs today at lunch, and DH and I had a less than friendly discussion about it before we sat down to eat.) BBs are still very tender as well, and fatigue is kicking my butt. I ended up taking a 3+ hour nap this afternoon.

Jane- I'm so sorry to hear about your MIL. You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Welcome Leesa!

Vitamins- I am taking Naturemade Prenatals, the ones you can find in a big bottle at Costco. I take them late at night, as that is the only time I am consistently home and can remember right now. :o

M/S- I haven't completely lost it yet, but I have nausea which comes in waves and is horrible to deal with. I am totally cursed because my pregnancy with DS was such a breeze, and now I am busier than I have been EVER due to work, and school pressures (obviously home as well) with this darn M/S.

Jane I'm sorry for your loss :(

QOTD It's 2 flinstones a day for me. Last time prenatals made me horribly sick, I'm not even gonna chance it.

To those of you battling M/S now, I hope it passes quick. I vomited every day from week 6 to week 38 when I delivered DD, and lost a fair amount of weight during pregnancy due to that. I'm cherishing my next couple of weeks because I know what lays around the corner for me. Not looking forward to it.

the morning sickness started today, what timing. I only ever puked last time when I gagged (brushing my teeth was quite an ordeal). The morning sickness just left me nauseated 24/7 but I didn't puke once from it.

Oh Jane, I'm so sorry for your loss.

Welcome and congrats Leesa and Converse!

M/S: So far, none. My primary PG symptom is extremely tender nipples--not the entire BBs, just the nips. At first it was just the left one, but now both are very sensitive.

Vitamins: Standard prenatals from CVS, and I also take calcium+D supplements because of my cancer history...cancer treatment can put you at increased risk of osteoporosis.

Started on the progesterone supps on Friday and went in today for the follow-up stab. So we'll see where the levels are tomorrow. If everything's good, I won't need any more levels tested--the ultrasound is a week from Wednesday anyway.

Jane I'm so sorry to hear about your MIL.

gina Congrats on your good betas! It's good that your doctor is keeping such close track of your progesterone levels. I am on PIO shots and the suppositories. Will you be on supps until the end of the first trimester? I am hoping to discontinue the shots soon, but suspect I have until week 12.

Welcome Leesa and Pink_Converse!

M/S I feel nauseous for a large part of every day, but I haven't thrown up yet so I feel pretty lucky. This is my first, so I have no idea what to expect.

Vitamins I take the Target brand prenatals, which don't seem to upset my stomach (well, no more than anything else anyway :p)

meg for father's day, we bought iron-on transfers, from Office Depot, made by Avery. We printed out on our printer, and then ironed on onesies and t-shirts for DH and the grandpas. They were really easy to do.

Ugh, I have to get to bed. I am so tired.

MS here too. It is ALLDAY sickness. No throwing up. I just don't throw up. TMI: I have only thrown up 2 times in my whole life, that I can remember. Only once in adulthood. Congratulations, mcl, pink converse, helen22, leesa, & solongtogo I hope I didn't miss anyone.

Vitamins: I am taking Premesis Rx right now. They are Vit. B6 supplements with added folic acid. I can't stomach regular prenatals right now.

I keep hoping my m/s lets up soon. This is way worse than it was with DD. I can't eat a thing. I am surviving on gatorade (lots and lots of gatorade) My midwife suggested taking Unisom to help, but it is a sleeping pill. I don't feel safe being alone in charge of my DD while on sleeping pills.

We leave tomorrow for a week long trip to Little Rock, AR. It is a 10 hour drive from here, I plan on sleeping 8.5 of those hours ;). We are visiting DH's grandparents and cousins. They are a fun family so it should be a good time. DH is great about picking up the slack when I feel icky, so it will be nice to have him off for a whole week. Plus, his grandma also loves to take over baby duty. It should be a pretty good vacation :)

me Another horrible headache this morning. I took tylenol , had a small handful of m&m's for caffeine and in a few I am going to take a long shower. That regime usually work! But I am still never 100% after the headache are gone. I can't move my head or bend down to fast!

petdoc08 Good luck on your car drive and have fun!!

Vacation We are going on a car vacation too. I am looking forward to it, but it's 1100 miles round trip. I get motion sick on boats, and when we off-roading and when I was pregnant with DS I got m/s when I was driving in a car. That is not going to be a fun mix!!

Jane, so sorry about your MIL. My deepest condolences!

So excited to see all of the other March mommies-to-be!

QOTD: Vitamins--I take the Stuart prenatals. I did during my last PG, and never was even remotely nauseated from them, so why mess with what works.

Symptoms: A little nervous until we have the first U/S b/c I feel like I am having so few symptoms compared to last time. I have soreness only in my nips (not the whole breast--last time I coud barely shower b/c it was so painful on my chest), tiredness, no nausea or m/s. I know each PG is different, but I still feel so nervous since I had a m/c before DD.

petdoc, hope the morning sickness abates soon and the car trip goes well.

So my latest--and probably last, as M/W says I really don't need to check anymore--betas are back. 10,205 HCG and 26.5 progesterone. I guess that Prochieve supplement is doing its thing! And hopefully one week from tomorrow we get to see our little one for the very first time!!!

QOTD: Who's going to be at the hospital when you deliver?

Obviously, DH will be with me, and I'm thinking of hiring a doula. That's it for people in the room other than the midwives, nurses, etc. But we'd like DH's parents to be at the hospital when the time comes; it's just a matter of figuring out who will take care of DD. (Since they would otherwise be the obvious choice.)

Unfortunately, my parents probably won't be. They live in Nebraska, and we're in NJ. If their health were better, they could come out a few days before my due date and wait...but my dad has trouble getting around because of post-polio syndrome and congestive heart failure, and my mom has mild to moderate dementia. It breaks my heart that they won't get to be here for their grandchild's birth. Obviously they couldn't be present for DD's because it was an adoption...I hate that they have to miss out on these things.

Welcome Helen, Mcl, Pink converse! We sure are growing- looks like a lot of surprise babies in this thread! ;)

QOTD- I will only have DH in the delivery room with me, and the OB, nurse, etc. It was good that we didn't have a lot of people in the room last time because we had problems with DS- he had his umbilical wrapped around his neck, and his heartrate was dropping. They had to bring in the suction equipment, and my OB sure was moving fast! Too many people would have put DS in more danger.

Both Mom and MIL will probably be waiting in the waiting room with DS, maybe a sibling or two.

M/S- I wish I was one of you who can't eat. I need to keep food in my stomach to keep nausea at bay, and my skirts are already getting tight in the waist!

Thank you everyone for the wishes. :)

I was wondering...is it normal to not have any symptoms this early into my pregnancy? Besides my breasts being a little bit sore, and I'm a little tired I don't feel like I'm pregnant. I haven't experienced any morning sickness and smells aren't really bothering me. Plus, I can still eat everything. :)

Also, has anyone had a CVS done? My doctor mentioned it to me and that I could get one done. I'm only 32 and didn't know whether or not it was something that I really needed to do. Any advice would be helpful!!

Thanks!!

QOTD: Only DH. I don't care to have other family members in the room with us. DH missed DD's birth because he blacked out when I got my epi (PSA for those whose DHs don't like needles LOL) and DD was born within 10 minutes of the epi being given. So, I'm hopeful that he will actually be there for this delivery.

Cravings and Aversions ~ Anyone having any? It's so hard to find anything at all that I can eat right now and I'd appreciate any ideas. I am having aversions to all meat - chicken, beef, bacon, turkey, you name it. I can eat a bit for fruits and veggies but that's about it.

Thanks for the tip about iron-on transfers waver! I might have to try that. Someone pm'd me to let me know BRU carries them so I will check that out. If they don't have any I will be certainly trying this! Thank you also solongtogo. That shirt looks really cute! I have seen that etsy store before. Cute stuff. I would go this route but I need it this weekend and I didn't want to pay a fortune in shipping to get it here by then.

Have a fun vacation petdoc!

Is your headache better ferris?

gina: Can I ask where in NE your parents live? I live in Omaha.

QOTD: I am having a repeat c-section too so just DH. It would be nice if my mom could come in the room after DH leaves to be with the baby but I don't think they allow that. The anesthesiologist kept me company the last time.

Welcome mcl!

Cravings/Aversions: I am having cravings but nothing specific. If I think of something-I must have it right away. No aversions yet thank goodness.

Meg, my parents are in Fremont (that's where I grew up). Have you always lived in NE?

Cravings--no, nothing specific, and no aversions either. I'm just ravenous much more often. Like this morning--I had had yogurt, a granola bar and an apple for breakfast, which would usually be more than enough to get me to lunchtime, but my stomach was painfully empty by 11:30. The only other pregnancy symptom I've noticed so far is still the nips. They're getting more tender by the day!

gina Those are great numbers! Glad to hear that the supps are working.

Congrats and welcome Helen and mcl!

QOTD I haven't really given it much thought yet, but probably just DH. For a number of reasons I am fairly likely to have a c/s, so I probably wouldn't have much choice anyway.

cravings/aversion With the daily mild nauseau everything sounds disgusting until I'm actually eating, then the aversion subsides. I have found that pastries (cinnamon rolls in particular) seem to make the nausea better. Weird, huh? :p

Welcome and congrats, Pink_Converse, helen22, and mcl!

Jane~Sorry about the m/s.

meg~Thanks. I still love the name, but DH says that the first reminds him of Shrek and the middle reminds him of corn. Could you make your own big brother shirt? I know Walmart and other store carry transfers that you can design on your computer, print off, and iron onto a t-shirt.

Ferris~Ugh! I feel your pain on the headaches, and the Tylenol just doesn't work like the Excedrin Migraine. :(

QOTD~DH will be the only one (aside from medical staff) that will be alowed in the delivery room or OR depending on which way DC#2 is born. I imagine ILs, DH's aunt, DH's grandparents, my dad and step-mom, and BIL will for sure be there. My sis and her FH may be there as well depending on the day of the week.

Cravings/Aversions~None here yet.

Nothing new here with me. I had some trouble sleeping last night, so I'm a little more tired than usual today.

Gina:Born & bred in Omaha! Do you get back here much to visit?

hey everyone, thanks for the welcome :)
and welcome to mcl!

QOTD - prenatals - I had to look at the name of mine last night, it is "DuetDHA". My dr changed me from last time when I took PrimaCare 1. She's really into the new one and it doesn't increase my MS, but boy it's expensive...

QOTD - delivery room - probably just DH. We have no family in the immediate area, assuming we don't move beforehand (it's being discussed...) If I have a scheduled c/s then hopefully my mom will come into town to be in the hospital and to take care of DD. My midwife is pro-VBAC if we want to have a 3rd child - if we go that route then obviously it would be harder to get the timing right for my mom (she has to fly to get here). And I might think about a doula if we go VBAC, so that would be another attendee at the delivery room party :p

all the big brother/big sister shirts are so cute, I am going to have to track one down for DD!

Meg, not that often, but when I can! I'll be coming in mid-September (probably the weekend of the 15th) with DD, but without DH (he's going to take advantage of that weekend to get projects done around the house). After that, probably Thanksgiving.

What high school did you go to?

thank you for everyone for the warm welcome.

vitamins--i'm taking the target brand vitamins, like i did the last time with ds.

delivery room--i will only have dh. some friends visited last time at the early stages of labor but they left when i was further along in the labor process.

symptoms--aside from being tired, it hasn't been as bad as the last pregnancy. last time, i had food aversion to boneless, skinless chicken and the smell of anything frying. i was also very nauseaus but this time, i'm still doing well (knock on wood). i also had heightened sense of smell last time and couldn't stand strong odors.

Headache Not completely gone, but better than earlier!!

Delivery Room With my DS my DH, mom and sister were in the room. I am sure that is what it's going to be again.

Cravings cheese, guacamole salsa (like last time)

Aversions bananas!I tried to eat one the other day and it made we gag. Last time I had a horrible aversions to meat, but that hasn't hit yet.

I should be able to do it soon. It's been a hectic and miserable few days for me.

Welcome Pink Converse, Helen and mcl!

QOTD Prenatals? target brand

QOTD who will be at the hospital? probably just DH. My Mom was there last time but would not have been in the room for delivery even if I hadn't ended up with a c-section. This time around we'll need her to stay with DS.

I can try tonight too. I've been busy and feeling pretty bad. Another TM would be great if anyone's interested.
