We will be staying at 49th St and 9th Ave. Which airport will be the easiest to fly into and out of?

Are you planning on taking the subway into the city or cabbing it? BC if you're going to cab it, I say it makes no difference. It's a flat fee anyway (like $50).

The subway is inconvenient bc 1) for LGA you have to switch to bus once in Queens 2) for JFK you have to pay to take the AirTrain from Howards Beach station to terminal. No more free shuttle bus.

Oh, and are you arriving from the US or England? BC if England, than you only have a choice of Newark of JFK unless you plan on switching somewhere else and connecting up to NYC.

Personally I like Newark when arriving frmo Europe bc they seem more efficient at immigration plus they aren't as rude for some reason.

Tiffany, we'll be coming from ATL. So it doesn't really matter which airport? We're thinking LGA just because it's cheaper from ATL with no connection.

I just flew through Newark 2 weeks ago and needless to say, the whole experience was horrible.

If Laguardia is cheapest, I'd recommend that. You can always get a car service or cab to get to the subway...this would work especially well if you don't have too much luggage. There MAY also be a shuttle to get you from LGA to the port authority, which is right by your hotel. I would look into that no matter which airport you choose. I know for sure that Newark has it. Good luck! :)

I always fly into Newark and then take a bus (they run very often) to grand central station. It's cheap and very easy (I think it is $12 to the city?) and the buses are nice (not city buses--more like tour buses). You can check out the bus lines on the Newark airport web site.

It's called Westchester Airport. :) But its about an hour from the city so I would venture to say going into JFK or Laguardia would be better. But then again if you fly into Newark it's a bit of a drive too. I would say go with the cheapest. ;)

I went ahead and bought up tickets to LGA, it was the cheapest (by $35/ticket).

Thanks for the help, ladies!! :)

JFK used to have a flat $35 fee for any Manhattan location. I think it was upped to $40 last time the rates went up. I don't really have an airport preference and usually go with whatever is cheaper ticketwise or offers more convinient flight options.

The Super Shuttle (it's a blue van) runs from all three airports into the city. I used it last month and it was $40 round trip and I set my return the same time I made the initial reservation. You can ususally find them on the airport's website. Have fun in NY!

I know you already bought your tickets, but LGA is one of the worst airports in terms of on-time arrivals and departures. For us, we always tried to fly into JFK, Westchester was wonderful for us because we lived in Westchester County, but it tends to be more expensive. I dunno what time of year you are flying, but just be prepared to call and make sure your flights are on time, not cancelled.

Larissa, I am so MAD I moved! I lived about 5 minutes from LGA and would have been more than happy to pick you up! Dang.

Well, you have 2 options. Maybe more, but these are you most logical choices.

1. Take a cab. It will not likely cost more than $20, including tip. I went went to 8th street and 1st Ave for $25. But, then, if you are travelling in the thick of rush hour getting through midtown will be a b*tch and will thus cost more.

2. Take the M60 bus (signs are marked really big outside, and someone will tell you where to go if you ask, although they might grunt at you ;) ) You will need to have 2 bucks in quarters for both of you and you'll have to ask for a transfer if you don't want to pay more at the train station. Anyway, take the M60 bus to the N/W train line at Astoria Blvd (lots of people will probably get off). This should take about 10-12 mins once you're on the bus. The N/W to Manhattan will take you to 49th street and 7th Ave. This will take maybe 20-25 mins once you're on the train. So you'd be walking two long blocks (10 mins or so). Sounds like sort of a pain if you don't know where you're going ...

Oh! I forgot about the supershuttle! It seems a bit expensive, from what I remember. It's a good option as well.

Oh, and I flew in and out of LGA countless times and have never had a problem, so I wouldn't worry.

Hope this helps you in a few months!
