CLW--You pick players, go through a draft, and get a team. You play whatever guys you want on game weekends, and get points for how well they do. It's fun, and pretty easy.

I'd like to play, but can we agree on some rules first? Last year, we had some disagreements about the way the scoring should be done and it was almost not fun. If we can agree on the rules first, it will be a lot more enjoyable to the people playing. (At least they'll know what they're getting themselves into :) )

Here's what I'd like to see. Please feel free to add anything or disagree with anything. :)

1.) Draft doesn't happen until right before the first regular season game. Auto draft is fine with me. A couple of years ago, the draft happened before even the first preseason game was played. Not fun to have a bunch of guys on your team that get cut.

2.) Format:
League type: Head-to-Head
Teams in a league: 10
Maximum roster size: 15
Maximum player acquisitions: None
Maximum trades: None
Trade rejection time: 2 days
Trade deadline: November 16, 2007
Waiver period: 2 days
Playoffs: Week 15 & 16 (4 teams; 4 in consolation)
Bye weeks: None
Fractional yardage points: No
Negative yardage points: Yes
Starting roster: 1 QB; 3 WR; 2 RB; 1 TE; 1 K; 1 DEF (team)
Bench: 6 players (any position)
This is the Yahoo default.

3.) Scoring:
Every 20 passing yards = 1 point
Each passing TD = 6 points
Each interception thrown = -3 points
Every 10 rushing yards = 1 point
Each rushing TD = 6 points
Every 10 receiving yards = 1 point
Each receiving TD = 6 points
Each return TD = 6 points
Each Off Fum Ret TD = 6 points
Each 2-point conversion = 2 points

I don't care if we have an auto draft or a live draft but I would like 2 things to happen with the draft.

1. Make sure we are given a lot of notice as to when the draft is going to be so we can set our preferences with time to spare.

2. The first game is Thursday Sept. 6. I think the draft should be at the latest the previous Thursday which would be Aug. 30. I know I'm going to be away over Labor Day weekend and don't want to come back and have just a day to see my players and have to come up with a lineup. I like time to think about it. So for me any day the week of Aug. 27 -30 would be my best suggestion for draft day.

I agree we need at least 10 managers but I'm not opposed to having as many as 14. That would still leave starters at all positions for everyone to have a starter and a backup on the bench.

Natasha are you going to set this up on Yahoo for us? It's never too early to start the league. Would you mind creating the Yahoo league now and pass along the id and password? That way we can hash out the rules, set up our team names, start messing around with our draft lineup, etc. in the actual league and for those who haven't ever played before it will give them a chance to read the Yahoo rules about it and get a feel for it. Thanks.

What's auto draft? Do we have any say in who we pick or just set up some kind of preferences?

Auto draft means that we pick a specific date and time to draft but that the computer will make our picks for us. Prior to the draft you can set up the order that you want to draft people in. When it comes to your turn to choose, the computer will select the person you have ranked the highest that no one else has picked yet.

In my big long post above (#13), the scoring I listed is different than the Yahoo defaults. If everyone agrees with that point system, let's change it to that.

I think we need the League ID# and not the name to sign up unless I'm doing something wrong.

Also, the Yahoo default has a passing TD at 4 points, can we change it to 6? It's easier to keep up with Fantasy scores throughout the day that way. I think that was one of scarlett's suggestions also.

eta: I missed scarlett's latest post, I'm cool with changing the defaults (I prefer the changes) or if we must keep the defaults, at least change the passing TD to 6.

Looking over the scoring I think one more needs to change. Interceptions should to be -3 on the offensive side and 3 on the defensive side. Right now it's only set at 2 on the defensive side. Thanks!

Forgive my stupidity, but I registered yesterday and then today I wanted to go back in and re-arrange the draft choices. But when I go to Yahoo, Sports, Fantasy, and sign in, I can only find a page asking to register again.

How do you get to where you can access our league by just entering the ID and password but not having to choose your helmet logo, team name, etc.?

I'm sure it's obvious but I can't seem to find it.

Just a word of caution, the way you have the scoring set up, it's HEAVILY weighted towards quarterbacks.... I'd suggest either having the throwing td's worth 4pts, or have 1pt per 50yards thrown. QB's just get WAY more yards on average than any other players, so combined with the amount of touchdowns they also get... ends up to be a lot of points. I'm not in the league, so it doesn't matter to me. Just warning you guys that if your scoring stays the same, definitely get a good qb, and get him early.

Also, the negative numbers for fumbles/int's is higher than any other league i've played in. Typically it's -2. And i've been playing for more than 10 years now... And fumble and int recoveries is also high, typically it's +2.

Again, feel free to ignore everything i just said. Just trying to help out!! :p

Right now we have the QB set up as 1/20 yds.

For me personally I don't care what we go with as long as I know the scoring rules prior to draft day. That way we can set our draft order accordingly.

Most FF I've previously played has had the QB at 1/25 yds. and I'm fine changing it to that.

I've played with INT/FUM at both +2/-2 and +3/-3 or a combo of both so that part doesn't matter to me. If it gets changed just make sure that it is consistant on both sides - if a INt is +2 on defense it should be -2 on offense.

mrs_pell - Just to be on the safe side I would say you should set up your draft order before you leave for vacation so you aren't caught completely offguard if we do draft while you are on vacation.

My league has done a live draft for the past two years and I thought it was the most fun part of the whole season. It is hard to find a time that everyone is available, but we can preset our choices so it will just auto pick for us if we aren't around. What do you two think? I really don't care, but just thought I would throw it out there.

Not at all! It's not very self-explanatory. I'll see what I can do to help, but feel free to ask other questions if I don't cover something you're wondering about. :)

To start, you will want to put the players in your preferred pre-draft order. This is the preference the computer will use if you can't be there for the live draft or will allow you to easily go down your list if you are participating in the live draft. But keep in mind that you don't have to do this if you prefer not to.

Go to this page: constantchat07 (http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1/478924) and scroll down to your team's name. Click on it.

When your team page loads, scroll down to where it says edit Pre-Draft Player Rankings (toward the middle of the page, highlighted in blue). Click on that link.

When that page loads, click on the "Edit My Rankings" link (part of chart on left side of page).

Use the tool to put your players in your preferred order. Make sure you save your preferences. You have until 45 minutes before the draft to reorder your preferences.

Then just show up for the draft tomorrow afternoon, if you can. If you can't, the system will pick for you. Main Draft Page (http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1/478924/draft)

Moving forward after the draft:

Each week you'll just need to tweak your starting roster to adjust for players who are hurt, not performing well, or on a bye week.

Also, the Help section is fairly useful, especially if you have lingering questions about how the heck this draft will work.

Actually, CindyLouWho is in the first league which has already drafted.

So you want to know what you need to do each week correct?

Okay first off get yourself to the Constant Chatter League home page. There you will see an overview of all the teams, records, and any transactions that have recently taken place.

Click settings if you want to know how we score points.

If you click help (in yellow near top right) you can find rules, and an overview of everything. It is long and maybe has more info than you need but it should help.

As for basics, click on My Team. That will show you all the players you drafted. It will also have already created a line up for you but you can move players around if you prefer to have someone on your bench play instead. Each week you will want to check this and make changes as needed.

You can also drop players you have and add players from the waivers/free agency. If there is someone on your team that you don't want anymore click on Players and find someone you'd rather have. From that point you would need to drop the player you have that you don't want and then add the player you want to pick up. You drop and add players through My Team.

You can also propose a trade between another team. The person you are asking to trade with can say no but it never hurts to try.

I think that's all you need to know and do before this week.

Thanks for the assist ladies! I never went to the Constant Chatter page of Fantasy so that is a big help. And I did actually re-order my picks, pre draft, and got some of the players I wanted, so I suppose I am not a total ninny :p( but sure feel like it sometimes!)

So, just one clarification- the system does create a line up so that, let's say I totally space one week, I don't actually have to do anything before a game unless I chose to? Correct?

So, just one clarification- the system does create a line up so that, let's say I totally space one week, I don't actually have to do anything before a game unless I chose to? Correct?

After the first week your team for week two will default to whoever you played in week one. Week three will default to whoever you played in week two. And so on. You should check and possibly change your team each week due to the bye weeks (each of your players will not play one week) and also some of your players could be injured or just turn out to not be very good this season. You will want to make changes. Try not to just leave your team as is all season.

Seriously basic question ( and I did find the Help section but this is just too simplistic for them to cover, I guess) How do I know who is playing? And how do you activate one player over another? And what is the criteria for which positions you play ( example- you have to have 2 RB and 2 WR, etc)

Cindy ~ When you go to "My team" it will tell you who is on your bench...those are the ones that aren't playing...the rest are active. Personally, I like the "classic view" better, but it's probably b/c that's what I'm used to seeing...I think it's easier to see that way. If you wanna change who's starting and who's sitting, just change your active player to "bench" and your bench player to "RB/WR/whatever they are." Make sense? Your league will have a set roster of what positions are playing. Are you in the 1st league or the 2nd league created here? In the first one (and most that I've played in), it's 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 Def. Hope that helps!

That's usually how it works!! :p I coerced one of the guys at work to join our league there, and he kept saying, but I just don't follow it anymore, I'll lose, blah, blah, blah, and of course, he's leading the league and racking up the points this week! Haha...

I'm really bitter that Yahoo doesn't do live scoring even on the stat sheets. I thought the $9.99 was just for the stat tracker with automatic updates and that w/out it I'd still be able to refresh the "matchup" page and get scores. It pisses me off that they make you wait until Monday morning! I'd already said that I wasn't going to waste the money and pay for stat tracker, but damn, I really miss knowing for sure what the score is throughout the day!! :o I have one league on ESPN and they have a free live tracking.

Oh that's right. It was you who posted for us. That was sweet! I know, I hate having to pay. I'm in another league over at Fox Sports and it updates live and it's free. Yahoo should get with it. ;)

Usually if someone is put on IR ,or I suppose if they are put on a year suspension, then Yahoo about a week later takes them off the Can't Cut List and replaces them with someone else. So if Travis Henry does end up being suspended for drugs eventually you should be able to drop him.
