Engagement Photos

A friend of mine who is getting married in December has asked me to do her engagement photos. I've never done any before and have been looking for ideas online. I'd love to see yours (if you're willing to share) so I have a place to refer her to for example poses, settings, etc.

One thing you may want to find out is what the newspapers she is submitting them to will accept. The newspaper here will only print a pic of the bride for the engagement but the couple for a wedding announcement. You'll want to make sure she has what she needs for that. The only thing with ours is I wish we had gotten to do some outside but to get them in time for the paper announcement we had to do them early this year and it was before anything had bloomed or turned green.

We didn't have a pro do ours. We just took a pic from the previous year (we hadn't changed much) and submitted it to our local paper. We loved the foliage around his parent's house!

We have some that are a little more interesting/playful as well, I just don't have them scanned. Our photographer took us to a local park and we just spent a couple hours shooting in different locations. Some of the photos are posed, some are totally candid.

I love your pictures lil_geek! Your dad seems like he's prety handy with the camera ;). I love the picture of you kissing the cow. For some reason, those pictures are always the ones that stand out to me. I love when the couple's personalities pour out of the pictures.

Hopefully, we'll get around to doing our engagement pictures soon. We were going to do it awhile ago, then I decided going ice skating was a great idea, and I broke my wrist. I didn't really want a lovely cast in all my pictures ;).

I love looking at everyone's pics! I especially loved Bella's...they are so classic and romantic! There's just something about New York. We have to have ours done pretty soon for the papers...but my FH hasn't yet decided on a photographer (he's an unbelievably talented wedding photographer himself and I gave him full reign over picking ours...it's just really a shame that we can't just hire him! :) ). So far the only photographer that has met with FH's approval charges a mere 20-50k per wedding!!:eek: I asked if there was any kind of wedding photographers union discount. LOL!

The last one is my favorite. I was very impressed with the photographer. I had a really bad cold that weekend and didn't feel like putting on any makeup or fixing my hair, and he still made me look good. My best advice is to just trust your photographer and let him do his thing so that you can see what their work is really like. After all you won't have time to tell them how to take every single picture on your wedding day.
