My niece is four and just got a new baby brother this week. I'm going to send a gift for the baby, but I wanted to send something for her as well. I was thinking it might be good to send some kind of activity or game that she can play with on her own since my sister is going to be busy with the new baby. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Congrats on your new nephew. :)
My 4-year-old DD likes the Kumon workbooks--letters, numbers, writing words, simple sentences, mazes, etc. You can buy them at Barnes & Noble, or online, I'm sure. They have age ranges on the front--I tend to buy my DD ones for slightly older kids.
She will work independently with a new book, or will work beside me if she needs some help, suggestions, etc.

My almost 4 y.o. also likes workbooks, but I buy them at the $1 store. Other good activities would be anything Color Wonder - they have markers and finger paints, activity pads, etc. that require no effort from Mom since they are stain-free and only work on Color Wonder paper. The novelty factor is high and they come w/different themes and characters too. Some books about being a big sister would be great.
If you have a little extra $$, a child-friendly digital camera would be awesome.

Thanks! Workbooks are a great idea. I know she is learning to read on her own and she is very good with counting and rhyming, so those Kumon ones would probably be a lot of fun for her.

When my second child was born, a friend sent my first child a cute sweatsuit. Included in the package was a picture book for the baby, and instructions for my older child to "read it to your little brother when you get a chance."
It made him feel like a big boy.
