Who we are:
We are a group of women who for 1 reason or another want to shed a few (or more) lbs. We need the encouragement of others no matter their size or goal and we thrive in an atmosphere where we can all support one another.

We welcome one and all. It doesn’t matter what diet you are on (if any) or how many miles a week you run (if any) we will all find lots of help and support here.

Just a quick shout out for the newest workout videos I've discovered!
OMGosh!! I love the Carmen Electra Aerobic Striptease series!! I've just done the first one, but after learning the routines, I've set up my own half hour dance mix and use that music to do the routines to. My abs are killing me, and with my regular pilates workouts, that's saying something!

I had been doing good all week until we went out to the Chinese Buffet for lunch today. Oops. How does everyone else handle buffets? I always tend to overeat when I go because I think subconsiously I feel I need to get my money's worth. :o I probably should just stay away from them but it's our after-Church tradition to go there. Back on track tonight though!

Hi Angie! :) When I go to a buffet, I have a huge plate of salad and veggie (mainly because I love a good salad). Then I go for a protein/carb plate. By then, I'm usually full. But then I usually sneak in a little dessert too. :rolleyes: :p If you are going Chinese, try the stir fry with tons of veggies! Yum! That's what we are having for dinner tonight! ;)

Just dropping by to post my success! :)
So I went out to buy a new scale tonite because mine went on the fritz. Instead of digital, I went with analog because my deceased digital scale would give different readings (sometimes completely different), even within seconds of each other! So anyway, I weighed myself tonite and I am 16 lbs lower than I thought! Yahoo!!!!!! I don't know if it was the scale or if I really did lose some since the last time I weighed myself, or both, but I am one happy chick!! :) Definitely motivation to keep me going!! :)
So anyway, since I didn't know my true previous weight, I am starting week 2 at my current weight.

I am going to withdraw from this challenge. I have re-evaluated my goal weight (which I am lucky enough to be 3 lbs from after participating in two Weight Loss Challenges and have lost a total of 24.8 lbs in 6 months) and will now work at maintaining my current weight. If I can, I would like to lose the next 3 lbs, but I'm not going to be aggressive about it.

I hope this loss sticks...the scale's been all over the place for the last week (yesterday it said 154, for example). Then again, AF is on her way out, so maybe that's why it's been fluctuating so much.
I am leaving town tomorrow and will be gone through Wednesday...not sure how well I'll be able to eat while I'm away, but I know I need to try. The 150s are getting really old - I want a new digit in the tens place! :p

Okay ladies, i desperately need your help! I haven't been to a grocery store in over 3 weeks now because of my busy schedule. I work 9 hour days Monday-Thursday, I go to school for the remaining 4 hours on Tuesday and Thursday nights. I have Fridays off to spend with my 8 month old son and then Saturday and Sunday and any other 'free time' is spent cleaning the house, laundry, homework (of which i have about 6-8 hours worth per week), making bottles, playing and spending time with my son and husband, and getting other things that just have to get done. And darn it, i'm tired! The thought of cooking or preparing food or even making a menu and a shopping list much less getting to the grocery store and doing it just makes me want to curl up and take a good nap. On top of all of that my sister that lives abroad and only comes to the U.S. once a year is in town for 6 weeks (until the middle of August) so really any 'free time' goes to spending with them because I wont see her or my 2 nieces until next summer. I guess my big question is How do i diet with this much going on? There's a lot of prep time that goes into cleaning and preparing fresh ingredients. I'm exhausted and just can't find the motivation to keep on going. Any suggestions to get motivated about it? How about good diet recipes that can be made in large quanities and then frozen? (to add to the confusion, i don't eat meat or fish! UGH!) I need some help and i can't afford to hire someone to take care of this.

Hey all!! I just wanted to let everyone know that I'l be changing my focus around here because I'M PREGNANT!! I'm still going to hang around here because I'd really like to maintain my weight as long as possible since I'm starting this pgcy roughly 30 pounds heavier (and borderline obese). Last pgcy I only gained 15 pounds, and I'd be tickled pink to only gain that much this time around.
I understand that the health of my baby is the most important and comes first to my physical apearance. I just want to continue towards a healthier lifestyle and keep up what habits I've developed since becoming a part of this group. You've all been a great support!
I have not yet spoken with my dr about this matter yet since I just got my BFP this morning. I'm hoping he/she agrees with me on the weight issue, but we will see as soon as I land an appt. ;)

ellidew - in stores look for things that are mostly prepared, where you just have to add an ingredient or two. Costco has an Asian Chicken Salad kit, for example - all you do is add the lettuce. Also at the regular grocery store I've found a couple freezer meals (like stir-fry type) lately that are pretty low in fat, and usually I just don't add the whole thing of sauce to cut way back on the sodium. Also smoothies may be an option, and buying a veggie tray is never a bad option if you don't have time to cut them yourself. :)

Well I had a horrible WI. I'm so disappointed. When I got up I WI on my scale at home like I do every morning (per dietician request), and looked back to my notes from last week and was down 1# since last Wednesday. Get to my meeting for my offical WI a couple hours later, and according to their scale I was up 3.2#. :( I didn't follow my plan picture-perfect this week, but I didn't think I did horrible either. Just have to work harder for it to come off next week.

Tip: If you have a playstation 2 I HIGHLY suggest DDR (Dance Dance Revolution). You know those games you see teens playing in the arcade where their dancing on a big pad. Well DH found one on sale the other day and we got the game and hooked it up. It has a workout mode and it's awesome!! It tells you how many cals your burning and the best part is it's a total blast! I'm addicted. I've been walking in the evenings and the coming inside and doing this for an extra 20 minutes or so. Today I did it for 25 minutes and burned almost 300 cals playing a video game! AWESOME!! It only cost 10 bucks and I burned more cals and sweated WAY more than when I do my workout videos. Highly recommend this. :)
ETA: My SIL did it everyday for 30 minutes before our wedding and lost TONS of weight. :)

This is so strange. I weighed in at 122.0 firs thing this morning, then weighed myself again just now before posting and I was down to 121.2! All I did in the interim was read the Harry Potter book. shellslake, How varied is your workout routine? Maybe if you vary it a bit, you can break your plateau. If you usually do the same routine, your body gets used to it and thinks that is the norm, rather than exercise. KWIM? Good luck! You can do it! :)

Are you BFing? If you had to gain weight to get pregnant, were you a bit underweight to start? If so, and you are BFing, it's likely that your body is hanging onto those last 10 pounds because it needs them. If that's the case, I'd concentrate on toning and exercise right now. You can lose inches without losing weight!
I'm not losing weight just by BFing, I'm also watching my diet and exercising. Sure, I lost at first, but by 12 weeks PP, I started gaining again - so are these brand new moms that you are seeing?

Ok so I am super frustrated right now. I see all these other postpartum women dropping weight just by bf and then there is me who runs 4 miles a day and works out and it is a struggle. I know I don't eat the best but I am just frustrated. I only have 10lbs til I am at my PP weight but i gained weight to get preggo so I have to lose that too. Just super frustrated and needing to vent. Thanks!
Trust me you are not the only one. I had my baby in April and I'm still a good 10 lbs. above my PP weight too. I BF for 7 weeks and didn't lost notta. I'm very very very slowly starting to lose now but it's taking a ton of hard work. Before pregnancy I could lose weight with just a little extra attention. I feel your pain!

I tried hot yoga on Thursday and dropped 2 pounds (even though I drank tons of water). However i'm not going back because it was not enjoyable so I'm not going to keep losing weight that fast.

Thanks for the support ladies! I am BFing. I see women of all time periods postpartum. At work we had 6 women have babies. All were back in thier prepreggo clothes by 6 weeks. I am 4 months and not even close. Granted most of them hardly gained. None of them worked out while preggo and they did not work out pp until after they lost their weight. ARG. They keep telling me how BF took it all off. ARG.
I do do toning exercises etc but should watch my intake a bit more. I have a master's in exercise physiology and applied sports science but it is not always easy practicing what you preach! I have always worked out a ton but have never really had to watch what I eat. I am glad I am not alone! Thanks again for the support!

pewee9196 Do you think maybe you're not even eating enough? SparkPeople (http://www.sparkpeople.com) has a good, free calorie calculator, and their sister site, BabyFit (http://www.babyfit.com) takes pg and BFing into consideration when recommending calorie ranges. Just a thought...

So that was from this past Thursday. I was thrilled to finally get below 150 but for this week I know it'll be short lived. This past weekend was really bad and I'm in PMS mode. So when I weigh in this Thursday for week 3, something tells me I'll be in the 150's again. At least I know I can make it down though!!

Ok... I think I am sabotaging myself and I am so sick of it. I worked out pretty hard twice this week so far and I eat well for the most part. Then BAM! They serve bear claws at my work meeting... right next to the low fat yogurt. I mean come on! Of course I ate the entire bear claw in all of it's goodness and felt terrible immediately after thinking of my progress here. And nothing like a little guilt to get me going on few lays chips too...
Ok, I'm back on the wagon... off to warm up my low fat lunch.

We all need to cheat once in a while, and all you can do when that happens is dust yourself off, brush your teeth (to get the taste of all that yummy goodness out of your mouth lol), and get back on the wagon. I've been back on the wagon now and doing good. I don't WI until Wednesday though so I'll see what the scale says.
We are probably going out to eat after Church, as is our tradition. I'll see if I can talk DH into going somewhere other than the Chinese buffet... that's where we usually go and I do horrible! Hopefully I can control myself this time!

No weight loss this week, but at least I didn't gain (even after having Pizza Hut for dinner Friday and lunch Saturday).
Going to the gym tonight to start a work out routine. Will go at least 3 times a week. Plus I just started Chantix to stop smoking so we'll see how it goes! My quit date is on Sunday - 09/06/07 - and I'll get healthy snacks to munch on until my hand-to-mouth habit is broken. Gonna be a tough road but SOOOO worth it!

I almost came in here and was going to skip this week since I gained, but then I remembered the whole reason I did was to be accountable to all of you.
