Shoe size = baby size?

So I'm watching House of babies right now and then I talked to dr. google. :o and apparently it's an old wives tale that your baby will be the weight of your shoes size. i.e. if you wear a size 7 shoe you'll have a 7 - 7 1/2 lb baby


wondering if that was true for you

my shoe size at delivery (due to huge swelling issues) was a 9-10 only flip flops worked (regulary a sized 6 1/2 ) my first was 8lbs 2 oz

my second dd my shoe size was 7 and she was a preemie (35 weeker) was 6 1/2 lbs


so itdidn't work for me.

I'm an 8 or 8 1/2 depending on the shoes... I had a 6 lb 13.8 oz baby 2 1/2 weeks early.

I was still a size 8 1/2 at delivery at 37w5d. Had nearly 14 lbs. of babies (Baby A was 7 lbs. 9 oz., Baby B was 6 lbs. 3 oz.).

wow, that's funny. I wear size 5.5 (one foot is actually a 5 and one is a 5.5) and both my kids were 5 pounders---5lbs even and 5lbs 1 oz.

Since I think the average shoe size is 7.5, and the average baby is 7.5 lbs or so, I would imagine that would just happen to occur a lot of times.

I wear a 7.5, DD was 9 lbs.

My mother also wears a 7.5, I weighed 8.5 lbs.

My MIL wears I think a 9, and her kids were 7 lbs, 8 lbs, and 6.5 lbs.

It worked for me. I wear a 7 1/2 or an 8 and DD was 7 1/2 lbs.

Nope. I'm a 9-9.5 and DD was 7lb 13.4oz. But I had pre-e, so I think there may have been some mild IUGR. I was fully expecting a 9lber.

Almost true here - I wear a 7 (and did at delivery) and DD was 6#11oz - so almost 7 pounds. She was 1 1/2 weeks early, so maybe if she been born on her due date, she would have been a 7 pounder.

Hmmm.. close to true for me. I normally wear a 5.5/6, but at time of delivery I was wearing a 6.5. DD was 6lbs 12ozs. ITA with catmom. I think it's just coincidental that the average baby size is the same as the average shoe size for a woman. My SIL wears a 7 and she had a DS at 6lbs and a DD at 10lbs.

I went 1 week over and DD was 9 lb 3 oz. But at my 40 wk ultrasound they estimated her to be 8.5 and I wear an 8.5.

I agree with Catmom's point that it's probably just coincidental because the average women's show size and average baby weight are about 7 lbs.

Not for me (thank goodness), I wore an 8.5 before getting pregnant, and a 9.5 while pregnant with DS (our second baby), and DD was 6#9 oz, DS was 6#13 oz.

Thank goodness not true for me... I wore a 9-9.5 with DD and she was 7.15, and a 10 with DS and he was 8.11. They're still a 10 so hopefully they've stopped spreading. :p

Depending on the shoe, I wear a 7 or 7.5. DS was 7 lbs. 8 oz. and DD was 6 lbs. 4 oz.

This was kinda fun. I'm sure that it's mostly due to average shoe size/ average baby size. but a lot of smaller footed people did have smaller babies (probably due to being more on the petite side (speaking purely of heigth) and a lot of taller women had bigger babies and also had bigger feet.
