I am surprised this hasn't been posted here. Maybe its not being televised anywhere else besides Chicago/Illinois?
From nbc5.com

The murder charges came nine days after the bodies of 34-year-old Kimberly Vaughn and her children -- Abigayle, 12, Cassandra, 11, and Blake, 8 -- were found in a 2004 Ford Expedition parked on a service road near Interstate 55 in Channahon, about 20 miles south of Oswego.
At first his story was the wife turned the gun on him and the children...he fled the car only being shot in the leg.

I was actually thinking the same thing. I haven't seen anything about it on CNN, but there's been tons of stuff about the pregnant woman.
How sad. I just don't get how a person can kill their family.

I remember when the story first came out. They said the father wasn't a suspect. But if they're in the middle of nowhere and he was the only one still alive, how was he not a suspect!? I didn't realize he was accusing his dead wife.
What a shame. If I recall, his family said they'd all been OK recently. No depression or fights or anything.

I heard that too. The neighbors said they just saw them the nights before outside and happy.
I also heard that they just moved here (IL) and took out a mortgage with nothing down. I believe that was this family. I guess they were alluding to the fact that this was a stressor in the relationship.
They said that the family was on the way to a waterpark or maybe that is just what the father said. I really hope those kids weren't thinking they were going to a fun waterpark that day. They also said that the dogs were left home with no arrangements which would be odd if they were going to a waterpark for the whole day.
Tests came back and there wasn't any gun powder residue on the mother's hands. I also believe they said each child was shot 2 times while the mother was shot once in the chin.

When I did a search, I came across this article (http://www.nbc5.com/news/13539818/detail.html) posted June 20:
Sources: Vaughn Had Affair While On Business Trip
OSWEGO, Ill. -- Widower Chris Vaughn, whose wife and kids were slain in an SUV, admitted to having an affair, sources told NBC5's Amy Jacobson.
Sources tell NBC5 Vaughn recently confessed to his wife that he had an affair while out of town on a business trip. Investigators also questioned Kimberly Vaughn's parents and sisters about the alleged affair.
Joe Jacobson, a spokesman for the slain family, called the alleged affair a "made-up motive" to make wife Kim look bad, maintaining that she would have left Chris if she knew he was cheating -- and she would have taken the children with her.
"He supposedly told her that he was having an affair, and if they were having that conversation, she would have talked to her sister or her mother," Jacobson said, adding that Kim's parents always thought the couple were devoted to each other.

The story is getting alot of airplay here in St Louis because I believe the family is from the St. Charles area, which is basically 10- 15min from the northern part of St. Louis
