I found a thread for my Husky but couldn't find a Great Dane thread, just curious if anyone else has one.

This is Clyde. He's around two. We got him through the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue. http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb318/swtpea0140/tryingtogetChristmasphototake34jpg.jpg

And this is a picture from Christmas. We never did get a useable Christmas photo. Anyway at the bottom is Ivory our Husky. She's 9, 10 in November.

I don't have a Great Dane but wanted to say Clyde is soooooo cute! Look at that big ole goofy boy!

What's his temperament like? I have a crazy Weimaraner that I have a hard time wrestling into good behaviour, and he's "only" 80 pounds. How big is Clyde?

Clyde was left by his previous owners chained to a tree. He was 70 pounds when they found him and had chewed some of his tail. He was about 115 in those pics from Christmas he's up to 125 now. That is his ideal weight since he went so long without food he won't be able handle the weight that he may would have gotten up to. The person that found him took him to a Greyhound rescue to begin with, they didn't realize he was a Great Dane. They had to cut 8 inches off of his tail but he's doing great now. All personality and the two of them get along like brother and sister. It's so cute.

Skyblu His weight is 125 now and that's where we'll try to keep it. His temperment is amazing for what he's been through. We don't allow him around children that much just b/c of his size. He's still very clumsy b/c of his age. At 125 clumsy is not good for a child to bump into. I know it's irritating to hear this b/c people say it all the time but he really thinks he's a baby. He backs up and sits in your lap when your sitting in a chair, on the couch, or even on the floor. His only major problem that we are correcting is jumping up on people when he's excited. We only have very dog saavy people around to help us with the training. He's so loving and such a cuddler. When DH is working 3rd shift I can actually sleep sound b/c anyone who would see him wouldn't attempt a thing. I sleep hard so it's nice to have my doggies to wake me just in case. My DH's twin has a weimariner that comes to play sometimes. Your's looks alot like his Elle. A little bigger I think. He's very handsome.

Sue thanks and by the way I love love love this The American Pit Bull Terrier - The pride is worth the predjudice. Too perfect. Your dog is cute too I like his/her mask.

Glad you all stopped by looks like there may only be one of me. I'll try to get more pics up by next weekend.

What a story he has :( I'm so glad he found a great home with you and your DH. All 3 of our we rescues too. It's like they know and are so appreciative. I can't wait to see more pictures!

We call that Rory's Phantom of the Opera Mask. She can be a handful especially when we are paying attention to one of the other dogs but we love her anyway :)

LOVE that puppy-dog face!!!
Thank you for posting; I currently have a beagle-mix (mixed with what we may never know) but I have always wanted a Great Dane! Now this really makes me want another puppy-dog:D

I wanted to brag on my doggies but I didn't think that Clyde fit anywhere so thought I would see if anyone out there had one. And yes he has some expressions that are so animated it makes you almost forget he's a dog. We took a long time to decide what breed we wanted to get and we picked a dane thankfully. So much love to give. Is the beagle-mix the one in your avatar?

No, Wen the dog in my avatar is actually from the tv show LOST (one of my faves); I am such a dork. I do have to find a photo of Tasha and swap it out so it makes more sense, I suppose!
And like Sue's dog, Rory, Tash-Tash also gets a bit persnickety when I "try" to give other dogs attention (or they me....) sigh...such a brat, that little one!

Ok LOL right now. I was going to say maybe your dog was more along the lines of a Lab. Too funny. Can you tell I haven't watched LOST? No need to change your avatar, it's just me being presumptuous.
If I try to give other dogs attention around Clyde he sits on my feet or he walks in between me and the dog.

Wen, poor Clyde! It really angers me just how cruel people can be to helpless animals. Blue was abused, too, by his previous owners. I'm glad they've all found new, loving families to give them a great life!

It's not irritating to hear that he thinks he's a baby, it's adorable! I can just imagine his giant bum backing up towards you and plopping on your lap! So cute!!!

Sue, Rory is a beauty! I love PB's, they are so beautiful and more often than not, sweet, sweet dogs. How sad that they get a bad rap for how some PEOPLE train their dogs!

skyblu & Wen Thanks, she is a special girl. And what a coincidence that both of you have dogs that are on my "One Day I Hope To Have" list :) I love Danes, I think they are so regal looking and Weims are just so beautiful, I just love their coloring and the floppy ears.

skyblu It's so sad the state the breed is in, all because of irresponsible people messing it up for the responsible owners.
