Hello and welcome to our new thread. Our babies are in the midst of celebrating their 2nd birthdays! We moms are in a bit shock to know we now have 2 year olds. We've all learned a lot since our little ones began arriving in May 2005 (yes, we had a few that wanted to arrive early). They went from being newborns to sitting, crawling, walking. Now they are talking up a storm, being more independent, and will soon start potty training.

Here is the avatar that Tara made for us. If you'd like it say something else let me know. She wasn't sure what we wanted it to say. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

The only way the avatar will work (due to size limitations) is without the background. Let me know what you all think of it. Is the black writing okay or should we have it in a color?

Last night we had a pretty scary half hour or so. I went in to check on DD and put her on the potty, and she was just burning up. I took her temp and it read 104.5!! DH and I got her some Motrin and gave her a quick spongebath with a cool washcloth to get her temp down. After about a half hour, her temp dropped to 102, and this morning it dropped even further to 100. Fortunately her WCV was scheduled for this morning.
2 Year WCV Stats
Height: 33 inches (25th percentile)
Weight: 26 lbs (50th percentile)

The appt went really well. Dr said that she is hitting all of her milestones and even some advanced skills, so I'm pleased. As far as the fever goes, dr said to just keep an eye on things and gave us an antibiotic prescription just in case.

Yay for the new thread! Thank you!
We had to cancel Parker's 2 year WCV yesterday because she wouldnt go to bed till 4 am and I was in no shape to drive lol (Ah, the joys of terrible twos!)
We have to reschedule her WCV but it probably wont be until July.

You're all welcome.
Naamah ~ I'll try and get the stats added over the next couple of days. I hope Shylah's feeling better. I know I was freaked (as was DH) when DD had her high fever back in December with her ear infection. The ER wasn't that concerned until it got to be over 104 but at 103 I wanted to take her but they basically told us to just call her doc. Geez, thanks.
December ~ I've had a few nights where DD wanted to stay up super late. I would have loved to have been able to sleep in the next day but DS was up and ready to go around 7 am. So I didn't get much sleep considering DD went to bed around 4 am. Made for a very tiring momma. {{{HUGS}}}

teeth - Rhiley has her first dentist appt next week and I'm hoping we are on the right track with her oral care. To be honest I've never tried to count her teeth as I would probably lose a finger - my kid's an animal:rolleyes:
Her new thing is "do it self!" and if I tell her I need to hold her hand (such as by a street), she says "do it self!" then clasps her hands together as if she's holding her own hand.

I can't even brush them..he is possessive..he says "i do, I do" and resists my help (but i know my nanny can get in there so i don't worry too much about the oral care). Just found the new thread. Thanks from keeping this up, Meri!
Teeth,
She has all of them except her 2 year molars.
Dentist
We started going a few months ago for what they call a "Happy Baby Visit". Basically the dentist just sits her in a chair and pretends to brush her teeth (really just doing that as a mechanism to examine her teeth and make sure everything is coming in okay). It is a free appointment and is recommended to be done 2-3 times a year so that the kid becomes familiar with the dentist & the surroundings. She also advised we start trying to floss around age 2 (shyeah, right!) and bring her back around her 3rd birthday for her first cleaning.
Ferris,
Look at Dougie in his BBB!! Caroline adapted to hers really easily, too. Here's hoping it continues to have the desired effect on him. :)

December ~ Thanks. She goes in spurts but it's been a while since she was up that late. I hope it's a little while longer before it happens again. She's done it with no nap the day before as well. I was about to pull my hair out. I was so exhausted so I feel your pain. I hope things are back to normal now.
teeth ~ DD doesn't let us look in mouth very often (and if we do we usually end up getting bitten). I am pretty sure she's got all of them except the 2 yr molars. I saw her chewing on her hands the other day/night so I'm wondering if they aren't trying to come in now. She actually loves to brush her teeth and I thought that was going to be chore to do. She isn't too fond of the toothpaste (the toddler kind) so she usually just ends up not using any.
Dentist ~ DH asked when he was there and was told that they don't start seeing them until age 3. I wish they saw them before just to get them used to the dentist and surroundings but oh well.
Ferris ~ Awww, how cute!
Liz ~ Thanks.

Photo montages ~ Has anyone made one? I'm wanting to make one for DD's birthday party next Saturday. I was going to include pictures from the past two years and maybe the animals. Then set it all to some music. But I have no clue how to go about making it. Anyone know how to do it? Any ideas for songs (and where might I find them)?
And speaking of birthdays, Liz, how did you make the banner for Caroline's birthday? I saw a picture of it in the birthday thread.

Photo Montages~I know Shutterfly does them. Creative Memories also has software that you can make slideshows on. I just unsure as to whether or not you can burn them to DVD.
Teeth~She's working on getting the last of her eye teeth in at the moment.
Dentist~Our dentist said not to bring her in for a check-up until she has all of her teeth. My next check up is in Sept though, so I will take her in with me then.

Emma is quite the handful, but overall a very well behavied. You can see her most recent pictures and videos at www.dropshots.com/bethmarino
Dr seemed to think she was right on track, and ahead in her speech. We have been TTC and also buying and selling a house. Our house is sold finally and we are moving in July. We have not been so luck with TTC. We are just past a year of trying with no luck, so I am visiting a specialist next week. Dentist - Our ped had said something about going at 3 years, but Rhiley has a long upper frenulum (she was also tongue tied at birth) which has caused a space between her front teeth. As adorable as I think her smile is, I know she won't like having a gap toothed grin as she gets older. I had read (on CC I think) that the recommendation is to get it delt with as soon as possible but before the 2nd birthday. So that's the main reason we are going early. We are also going to a Pediatric dentist, as opposed to our dentist to *hopefully* make it as easy on her (and us!) as possible!
BAM Sounds like you've been busy!! Hope the specialist can help with ttc.

Hub: Collin has a pretty large gap in between his front teeth. How can you tell if it's something that will close on it's own or if it will need medical intervention?
bam: Adorable pics! Good luck w/ the move and I hope the specialist is able to help you w/ TTC.
Dentist: Ugghh! DH never signed us up for dental, so I need to wait again before I can even get back to the dentist. Collin does have all of his teeth, so I'd like to bring him soon.

Liz ~ I'll keep that in mind for when we do a dog themed party. Yes, we are doing a horse themed party this year.
BAM ~ I'll take a look at the pictures when I have a minute (I'm currently trying to do about a hundred things at once and only a few days to finish them in and some haven't even been started yet). Good luck on the move. Last time we moved I was pregnant with DD and I swore I'd never do it again while I was pregnant. A year later I was still trying to get boxes unpacked that we just sat in the basement to take care of another day. I hope the specialist is able to help with TTC.
Julie ~ Sorry about not having dental. Do they just have a yearly sign up? I was thinking that DH's company allowed them to sign up at any point after they were there a certain length of time. We did have a waiting period for major work.

Of course it was after he had peeped in his pants, but he yelled to me "mommy, peed me pants". Immediately after he peed I put him on the toilet. At least he's feeling it, and understanding it. Dentist doesn't think Rhiley's space is a big deal. They think it will close when her molars come in. She is getting her bicuspids now. She also has 2 of one tooth, which they say happens in 7-10% of children. They plan on monitering it. They also said to cut back on the juice:o She did get an eletric toothbrush from them that she loves.
Potty - Still no real interest. Likes to put toilet paper down the toilet, and flush.
usafwife The little girl I provide care for is on a "smoking" kick. Pretends she is smoking, tells me Rhiley is smoking etc. I HATE smoking. I find if I ignore it and redirect her to an activity she stops. If I talk to her about it she keeps it up.

Rhiley had her 2 year WCV. She is 27lbs and 34 1/4 inches tall. The doctor was observing her play and at one point she started to climb on a chair. She looks over at us and says "Don't even think about it!" Which cracked the doctor up.
Yesterday we went to a party and while Rhiley was running down the driveway after a matchbox car she fell and face planted. She chipped her front tooth. We took her to the dentist and the nerve isn't exposed so we will just have to watch out for a few weeks. After that he said we can file it down to even it out or have it capped. I know it's just a baby tooth but I wanted to cry when it happened :(

Hub,
Poor Rhiley! I know they're just baby teeth, but I always have the same worry. Thank goodness the nerve wasn't exposed though!
LOL at the "don't even think about it" comment. These kids are hilarious!
Yesterday we went to a BBQ at my Aunts house. Caroline proceeded to hop up on the piano bench and tickle the ivories. She'd rock a few bars and then point to my Mom and Aunt like they were her adoring fans in a "this one is for you" sort of way. It was so cute.
In not-so-cute stories, I realized a few days ago while picking her up at daycare that some of DH's road rage has begun to rub off on her. As cars would pass, she'd yell "Idiot!" at them. :o

At least he is still young enough that everyone thinks it's cute, wait 2 more years and he'll be in big trouble. So glad I'm not the only one with a potty-mouthed child. Fortunately, it comes out sounding more like "eat". I only figured out what she was saying by observing the context in which it is used.
Speaking of potty...Caroline went poo poo on the potty for the first time yesterday!! It happened at daycare (I'm so bummed I missed it :( ). She walked up to the teacher and said "Got to go poo poo". Teacher put her on and, well...the rest is history. I'm so proud of her!!

hub~LOL at her "don't even think about it" comment! :p Ouch about the tooth! Glad it was just chipped and not more severe damage.
LIZ~So cute! DD loves to play the piano at ILs house! :) They listen to everything we say, don't they? Little parrots! Yay for her potty success! :D
Ferris~DDs favorite expression is "darn gone it!" or "dag it" - a combination of my "doggone it/dag nab it" and "darn it". LOL! I just tell myself that she could be saying a lot worse things.
PT~I'm planning on doing the potty training in less than a day method next Monday. This week was just too crazy with the 4th and my niece being in town to try and tackle this. I'm really positive about this because just this morning, she brought her doll to me and said "Christy Lynn" needs to potty. I let her take her doll potty and then asked if she wanted to try, which she did and peed on the potty! :D Although it wasn't totally self-initiated, I was really pleased with how she did.
Things have been quite crazy for us this week. My niece has been down for a visit all week, and it has been quite the stretching experience for DD. ;) July 4th went pretty well until one of the fireworks exploded on the ground burning a hole DH's shirt and giving the spectators quite a scare. Fortunately no one was hurt. Whew! Overall DD and niece enjoyed the show once they got past the first few loud ones.
Lastly, I'm hoping to have some big news to share in the very near future. DH and I have been very busy with our businesses and things are finally starting to look up.

OH, that's not fair! You can't leave us hanging like that!! :p
Crap When Douglas says "crap" it is very obviousness that that is what he is saying! I even said it again yesterday when he kept asking me to poopy. He went to the toilet every 2 minutes for about 25 times. I was trying to make dinner and said "holy crap", so while he was trying to poop he was saying "crap, crap, crap". :o He finally did poop though, and he wanted his 2 stickers so badly!!
Poop So he is learning to go poop in the toilet, but he will NOT pee. He seems to wait till his nap time when he is in a diaper to pee. We'll keep trying, but yesterday 13 runs to the poppy (in only 1/2 hour) had me wanting to move his toilet to the kitchen!:p;)

Liz - that's great about the potty!
Ferris Yay for pooping! I'mm surprised it's not the other way around though. The little girl I watch still won't poop on my potty:rolleyes: and she's 3!
Crap This was my word of choice - It did sound like "cap" when it was repeated:o
Rhiley has yet to show any real interest in the potty. The few times she asked to use it, she would play with the tp. I have noticed that she has become more finicky about dirty things (if she has crumbs on her booster seat she'll ask to me wipe them off before she sits) which I think is one of the readiness signs. We stopped at McDonalds after the dentist (a rare treat) and I had to use their potty. Rhiley came in with me and when the potty was flushed it sounded like a jet engine - she is now terrified and tells everyone "potty.... scary"

k, so i need support. DS hardly naps anymore. He complains in his crib for at least 90 min. When i go in there after an hour or 1 1/2 hrs he stands up and says 'just woke up'!! oye, it makes for an awful late afternroon and forget about making any plans anymore for the afteroon. Today, DH finally got a taste of what it is like!! He went off to the gym while i 'relaxed' during ben's naptime..came home and was like, OMG!!! Isnt 25 mos too young to phase this out?? He clearly needs the nap b/c he is miserable during the witching hours..this has been going on for almost a month. I gu ess he naps maybe 3 days a week..oye, i'm spent. Plus, its ruining my sex life b/c i'm too tired by days end and we want to TTC again next month!

MrsChappy~I'm sorry that Ben isn't wanting to nap. :( {{{HUGS}}} No advice here other than to continue to put him in his crib during his usual naptime to get yourself some peace and quiet. I'm like you - seems too early to be phasing out the nap. I would think that he would eventually start going back to sleep on his own.
Ferris~Once we have one of each (whenever that may be) I don't care about knowing the sex early. I really didn't want to find out with any of our children, but DH won out with DD.
Ferris
07-07-2007, 08:26 PM
Mrs. Chappy Maybe he is needing to take his nap earlier? I notice with DS if we get him down for his naps at around 11:30 or a little earlier he will take a 2 -3 hour nap and fall asleep faster. But the later we get him down for his nap he sleeps less. My only thought would be that he is missing his window of sleepiness and then it's to late for the nap. It won't hurt to give it a try especially since he's not napping anyways!!
tgr How many kids do you want?

DH ran him ragged at the park this morning in the heat while i went to Pilates. Now DH is at the gym and now that DS is asleep we can have a normal family afternoon with minimal tantrums. I even suggested dinner out at a real restaurant!! i guess trying to be consistent is key..if he onlyl naps a few afternoons a week, ill take that at this point!!

potty training We just got back from 2 weeks out of town and started trying again with the potty. DD has pooped 3 times and tee-teed 3 or 4 times. Yippee! She is very proud of herself too. I'm thinking of going cold turkey and putting her in panties. ferris How messy has it been in real underwear??
naps Addie hasn't napped since Saturday! I accidentally shut her hand in the door and one of her fingers had some skin scraped off. The worst part is that the hurt finger is the one she sucks to go to sleep! It's like she can't go to sleep without sucking her fingers so she just plays in her room quietly with the door shut until she finally comes out!

Natalie Congrats on the boy!! So neat that you will have one of each!! :) It sounds like Addie is doign great with Potty training! It really hasn't been that messy (except when he had diarrhea the other day, I put in a diaper real fast!) In fact today was the first time he peeped in the potty!! :) First though he peeped a little and it got on the floor. It's amazing that after a few days of this he is able to tell me when he needs to poop and he's getting very close with the pee. He just can't stop the pee yet once it starts. When he was wearing a diaper he could never tell me when he was peeing and pooping. The doc told me it helps them feel it because diaper keep the wetness away. So if you don't mind a little bit of cleaning and a lot of trip to the toilet (by my request and his) then go for it! You can always try it and if doesn't work for her then you can put her in pull-ups. But I have to say it's saved us a lot of money on pull-ups, those things are expensive!!

Congrats, Natalie, on your little boy. Your DH sounds pretty excited about the gender for sure. And it makes your name search somewhat easier by eliminating half the choices- any front runners?
Ferris, I also love your photos! I'd like to get some family ones of us as well, and I'm noticing that your outdoor poses are great. Did it help being outside or is Douglas a natural easy-photo-taking guy?

Thanks Everyone about the pictures!! I get teary eyed looking at them, but maybe that because I got a BFP this morning! Still nervous since I had my m/c in may! Wish me sticky vibes!!
kelseyledare I have been practicing with Douglas saying "cheese" without scrunching his face for a few weeks. However, once we started taking the pictures he wouldn't smile for the photographer. So I resorted to my "mommy will cry if you don't smile" and then pretended to cry. He'll do anything for me if he thinks I am crying. So he smiled. It worked but I felt bad saying it so much!!

I had the pleasure of sharing a brunch GTG with Julie and Tenny yesterdsay morning! I had a great time chatting it up with a fellow June Mommy finally. And Brady is *so* cute! I swear, I've never met a more smiley baby before. He's such a love!
Julie and Tenny, thank you so much for making time with me on your trip. I had a great time!

liz and julie What fun!
potty training We went for panties on Saturday and went through 4 pairs by lunch. But by the fourth tee-tee accident she had just peed a little, then said, "mommy poo poo" and so we ran to the potty and she finished peeing in the potty. She has really done so well all weekend. I think I'm going to hold off on going to all panties all the time until next week. This weekend DH and I are going on a mini getaway so Addie will be with my mom and I don't want her to have to deal with washing panties! But we are making progress and Addie is VERY proud of herself. DH and I have been known to cheer and do dances for her while she's on the potty. Now when she sits down she says, "go Addie go, tee-tee on the potty!" :D
baby boy We've settled on a name. Doak Bailey. It had to be a good masculine name that sounded like a strong athlete, had to go with our loooong last name and we wanted something different but not made up. Doak Walker was a football player in the 40's (I think) and my mom had a boy in her class named Doak and we really liked it. Bailey is the last name of some really good friends of ours that are kind of like DH's second parents/family.

Ferris~Great pictures!
Potty Training~We've been using the Potty Training in Less Than a Day method, and so far so good. We had one accident yesterday (first day) but stayed dry all morning today. The focus from pottying on the toilet to keeping her pants dry has been a big help!
Great pic LIZ and jmvan!!!

Hi to everyone else.
DS had his 6 month check up this week. He has to have a test/study done because of his problems going #2. It's scheduled for next week but are awaiting a call back to know about the prep because he can't have the usual prep. I hope things are okay.

Big Congratulations to ferris and tgr on your pregnancies.
Ferris: Great pictures. I'd love to do pictures outside like that, especially of the whole family. Did you take the pictures at a park? Very nice backgrounds.
Liz & Julie: Great picture together. It is quite exciting to hear about GTG.
Natalie: Congratulations on expecting a boy. I love having a son! I like his name too -- I like uncommon names.
We've been busy the last month with visitors. The grandparents came to visit for Brady's birthday and then my 14 year old cousin flew out from Michigan for 2 weeks. We had a blast, but it was tiring! We were on the go a lot -- spent several days at the beach (Boardwalk, tide pools, riding horses), amusement park and a day up in San Francisco. Even the days we stayed local were busy with swim class, soccer class and visits to the park.

Are your kids still napping??? Addie has napped once in the past 5 or 6 days. She'll usually play in her room for a while until she gets brave enough to come out which gives me a few minutes of quiet, but not much! I'm thinking of instituting a "quiet time" where she is allowed to play quietly in her room and I don't even do the nap time routine but I'm not sure if she'll be able to understand. I just know I'm not ready for her to quit napping!
potty training We had a great pting day today. She wore the same pull up from 7am to 6ish and was dry the whole time! She did poop in her pull up after 6 but we were outside and I wasn't watching her very closely! I'm so excited with her progress! :D

napping: Collin's naps have been getting shorter. He used to sleep an hour 1/2 to 2 hours. Now it's closer to an hour, but I leave him in his crib for 2 hours total regardless of how soon he wakes up. :o I need that break.
I remember my SIL used to do quiet time w/ her kids when they stopped napping. They had to stay in their room and play quietly, look at books, whatever for an hour before they could come out.
kelseyledare
07-29-2007, 08:18 PM
Napping: Still naps about 2 hrs a day, sometimes more lately. It seems like she's storing up for a big growth spurt by sleeping longer at night and 3 hr naps. And still some days, she's still grouchy in the morning when DH goes to get her!
Crib: I think I'm going to order her toddler bed tonight. She's started resisting her crib a few nights in a row, preferring to sleep in our bed (not opening that Pandora's box) or on the floor in her nursery! I already know which one I want; I just can't remember how quickly it ships out. I think I will be a little sad dis-assembling her crib, though. So many memories.
Potty Training: Making slow progress. We're totally out of diapers (she refuses during the day, but will tolerate a night diaper until we use those up). She does okay at DC with a Pull-Up, but they take her every 2 hrs or so. She always wants to go potty, wipe, wash her hands- just loves the whole routine. But only actually pees half the time (or maybe less ). She will always tell us when she's wet or dirty, though, and wants to be changed immediately. I think she's going to "get it" all of a sudden.

Thanks Everyone!! I had my hcg drawn on Friday (5w6d) and my # were 15,005! I will call in today after 8 and get my #'s from yesterday. My nurse was great and requested an u/s for me for Wednesday because she could tell I was stressed and said it would help calm me!
Naps Douglas still takes a 2-3 hour nap. He only sleeps 9-10 hours at night though.
Potty training He's doing great with his poops, but the pee is another story. He keeps asking me to put a diaper on him so he can pee. That's my sign that he has to pee and he goes to the potty every few minutes, but the second after we come out of the potty he has an accident. He totally knows to and gets upset. I tell him that it's okay, but we wants to do it so bad, for that sticker!:p I am sure he will get it in a few weeks, no stressing here.

Thank you all for the congrats!! DH and I are very excited!
My due date according to FF is 3/27/07. I have an appt though August 9 with my regular dr since my previous OB retired. I'm sure they'll want to confirm the pgcy then and give me an "official" due date. Then I'll get her rec for a new hospital and OB. (Our hospital only had the one OB that delivered there, and they haven't replaced him yet.) I think I know what area hospital I want to deliver at, but I want to wait until after this appt to call anyone else.
As far as the pgcy goes, this time around I have been so much more exhausted this time around. I've had LOTS of indigestion but no m/s so far. *Knock on wood*
Napping~She is still napping but has been wanting to go down later and later during the day. We had been putting her down at 1pm, but she plays until as late as 3pm before falling asleep. I think today I'll try holding off until 2pm to put her down.
Potty Training~She going on the potty probably 75-80% of the time. I think I may end up doing another "boot camp" morning with her because she really has a hard time with pooping. She knows they're coming and runs to the potty but just passes gas. After 4-5 trips like this (sitting on the potty for 5 minutes at a time), oftentimes she'll have an accident. :(
BGR~I haven't worked on this at all. It looks like I'll be putting off working on it until after the first full week of September because our church is having a conference, and DH volunteered our home as a host home. Most of the time, they don't select our home because it's the furthest away from the church, but I don't want the now guest room to be a construction zone just in case they need the space.
Ferris~Great numbers! Can't wait to hear how the u/s goes later this week.

Ferris Great #'s!
kelseyledare You're DD's bathroom routine sounds a lot like Rhiley's - except she still refuses to go on the potty (after spending lots of time claiming she needs to go  )
Naps - thankfully she mostly does, although the times she hasn't she's been okay. I have a mandatory quiet time. I let the kids pick out a book and a lovey and they have to stay in their rooms.
We are finally having a stretch of nice summer weather and have been at the pool the last couple of days. Rhiley loves to swim. I love swimming days because she sleeps so well at night!;)

You're DD's bathroom routine sounds a lot like Rhiley's - except she still refuses to go on the potty (after spending lots of time claiming she needs to go  )
This is Caroline! She'll beg to go potty, claim she's got to go poopie, etc. She'll sit for a while and then start begging for a diaper when it seems it's just about time to go.
Napping
Yes, thank goodness! At home she'll still take a 2.5-3 hour nap every day. At daycare it's down to about 1.5-2 hours. I guess there's too many distractions and kids going down/getting up at different times (they try to put them all down together but inevitably someone fights their nap or wakes up early). My coworkers daughter gave up naps and she instituted the "quiet time" rule, too. She's now 4 and it still works for them. Sometimes she ends up taking a nap, sometimes she just sits up in her room and reads or watches a movie. Just so long as Mom and child are getting a little rest.
Chuggin' right along...I'm 16 weeks pregnant already. So far, it's been a pretty easy pregnancy: a few weeks of nausea and fatigue, but it's definitely been easier than my pregnancy with Caroline. I can't believe I'm almost to the halfway point!
Caroline is doing good. As I mentioned above we're still a long way off from PTing. I've decided to cloth diaper with this next baby and have been buying diapers Caroline can use, too. This weekend we CD'd her all weekend (with the exception of overnight because I don't have enough diaps yet). She's smart as a whip, this kid (but aren't they all? ;) ). She mimics everything we say know and memorizes the most astonishing things. I often catch her chiming in on songs and commercials.
Next week she's being moved up to the next classroom at daycare- Preschool 1!! How is my tiny little baby already a preschooler?!

Wow Ferris!! Congrats on twins!!!! :D
Meri: Glad DS' results were okay.
Not too much going on here. Just trying to keep sane. Collin is still a handful, but we're just trying to keep busy and avoid melt-downs. I'm thinking of having him evaluated b/c I think he may have some sensory integration issues. The more I learn about the subject the more I see the issues in myself, as well. I feel like his tantrums and certain risk taking behaviors are excessive. I fiigure if something comes up in an eval then I'll have a better understanding of what's going on and be able to deal w/ him in a more positive way.
Brady is on the verge of crawling. He is doing some army crawling and rolls himself all over. I'm petrified he's going to choke on one of Collin's toys or dropped raisin. :o He's still up 2-3 times a night, so I am freaking tired all.the.time. ahhhh...

Thanks ladies!! I am still in shock, but very excitied!! :) We were planning on not finding out the sex, but with 2 of them on the way I think we will be finding out. It just so much to plan and knowing the sex would help us not have to come up with 4 names. DH and I loved waiting till DS was born to find out the sex, but that was a different story!

Ferris,
Congratulations again, sweetie! I am so happy for you. :D :D
Maggie,
That is crazy! In GA, everything above Toddler is Preschool (1,2, & 3) until they hit Pre-K at age 4. Pre-K in GA is state-funded by the lottery so I think they use those titles to differentiate.
Meri,
Glad all the test came back fine. That's great news.
Julie,
My nephew, Cameron, has Sensory Integration so if you have any questions let me know. I would recommend an early evaluation (he was diagnosed shortly after his second birthday). He wasn't speaking much so first they did a hearing test (came back fine) and then did a series of evaluations with specialists. At first they suspected autism, but ruled it as Sensory Integration instead. The good news is with speech therapy, interactive childrens therapy and other special classes he's now on par with other kids his age and will be entering kindergarten next week, right on time. He will continue to need speech therapy for a while (his pronunciation is still a bit off), but he's come a long way. Some tools that worked for him when he was Collin's age was massaging (it was amazing how it would slow him down!) & weighted blankets. It's been so long now that I forget a lot of what they did with him. I'll talk to my mom this evening and see what else they found helpful.
jmvan74
08-02-2007, 10:16 AM
Thanks Liz. Collin is quite social and he speaks really well, but I think he may be considered a "sensory seeker." It's so hard to tell b/c many of his behaviors are "normal" toddler behaviors. I guess I just want to be sure. Maybe I read to much. :o

Rhiley was stung by a wasp on Sunday. It had somehow gotten in the house and was in her playroom. All the sudden she screamed and when I went over she said "Bee ouch!" Her index finger was red and starting to swell. So we got her a bowl of ice water and I made a baking soda paste, but we couldn't find any bee. So I went back to the playroom and saw the wasp crawling around on the floor. Bruce killed it. Afterwards Rhiley kept saying "bee has poka dots, NO TOUCH!" I think she meant to say stripes, but was confused. Anyway she was fine the rest of the night and seems to have no lasting trauma. The thing is she loves to touch everything and has no fear. In a way it's good. I don't want her to freak everytime a bug happens by. BUT, I've been worried for a while that this would happen.
Mia had her 1 year WBV today. I can't believe my baby is 1!

OH no! I fear this, too. Collin almost picked up a cockroach in a store the other day! Ickky. Then he tried to grab a bee off a flower, while saying "what this mommy?" I grabbed his hand and told him that bees don't like to be touched.

hub..glad she is doing better!
I had my own heart attack yesterday on our 5th anniv when DH said DS's hand slipped through his sweaty hand and Ben fell on a brick sidewalk.i heard his head hit the bricks...he has a golf ball on the side of his head. I don't think its a concussion. We were at A Day Out With Thomas an hour and a half away..DS fell asleep in the car on the way home and i kept checking his breathing. This morning he woke up w/ a fever..i don't think the two are related though i think the fever was from heat exhaustion , or something from yest. Anyway, all seems well now. We are leaving for Sesame Place tomorow..why does the chaos always happen when we actually have someplace to be?? on top of that, AF is here!

Mrs. Chappy-I gasped when I read your story of Ben hitting his head on the sidewalk. Alexa can be sucha slippery eel sometimes and I'm waiting for her to get her own golf ball on her skull but it hasn't happened....... YET! How is Ben doing?
tgr-Congrats on your pregnancy! H&H 9 months! I agree with your comment on how Alexa's changed. Just as Shyla looks so much older just in the recent photos that you posted. Shyla and Alexa look like totally different kids from just a few months ago, don't they? Where did our little tots go?!?!?!?!?
Hey Julie-Corinne is sucking her thumb in the Christening photo but both babies are die-hard thumb suckers. I need to start saving up for the orthodontist bills now! How's Brady doing with the army crawl? Has he progressed into full out crawling? Neither baby shows an interest in crawling although they both the do the "butt-up-in-the-air" move and scootch around on their backs. I'm soooooo not in a rush for them to start crawling since I have a hard enough time keeping up with them and their rolling!
BTW, Alexa is totally into princesses and she loves fancy dresses and shoes. She will be in heaven when I tell her that you think she looks like a princess because that is her ultimate goal everyday. ;)
Kelseyledare (still the coolest dog's name EVER!)-Thanks for the compliments on the dresses. Elise, on the right, is wearing the dress that Alexa was Christened in and Corinne, on the left, is wearing a new one that her Godmother, DH's sister, picked out. I think the bonnet looks a tad too "Little Bo-Peep" but it is a beautiful dress.
Hey Dreshny-When are we getting together for another NY/NJ mommas group meetup? Asher looks like such a dashing gentleman now. I MUST see him in person. By the way, I'm sticking with my original comment that he looks like you even though you keep saying that he looks like his dad.

Mrs.Chappy ~ Sorry about the UTI. I had one at my first OB appt with DD and was put on antibiotics then (I was 7 wks). I hope Ben is doing better from the golfball on his head. I remember when DD fell last June and got a lovely goose egg on her head. We took her to the ER just to make sure since it popped up immediately. I was so worried about her having a concussion. Of course I was also worried about what they thought (I had it in my head that they were going to report us). I'm not exactly sure what the percentage is of having multiples after a m/c but I do think we had twins with DS' pregnancy but lost one. No real proof other than the bleeding I had the entire first tri. At the first u/s (at 9 wks) there was just one but my OB did say that it could have been twins. We have no way of knowing for sure though. Just a feeling I had.
Sophia ~ Adorable pictures!! Alexa has changed so much since I last saw pics of her. I love her haircut!!! I can relate so much to the shoe picture. DD absolutely loves to wear my shoes (or my mom's or even DH's grandma's shoes). The twins have gotten so big! They will soon be approaching their first birthday. I'm in absolute denial about my little one almost being 7 months. It's gone WAY too fast this time.
hub ~ A year already! Sorry about the bee sting. I'm waiting for the first time it happens here. DD is not afraid of anything. She ended up getting bitten by one of our cats when she dropped something she was eating and he decided he wanted to eat it. I had told her before that she couldn't take things away from the cats because they would bite.
Liz, Kim, and Julie ~ Thanks. He's still having issues even with the med. We are going to discuss it again.
Naamah ~ I understand about the headaches. I hope the m/s stays away this time. I was so exhausted and puking with DS. I would have rather just been exhausted.
DD's new thing ~ DD's new word is princess. She will tell me "that's a princess" on her panties, she wants a princess movie in, and then tell me to "push it" when it comes on (meaning to start it), looks through a book and says "that's a princess, mommy", etc. It's so cute!
And we've got a mover ~ DS has been army crawling for over a week now. I can't believe it! Over the weekend he went from the living room to the kitchen and today he went from the living room to the bathroom while I was giving DD a bath (I could see him the entire time). We still don't have any teeth but he's chewing on everything. And he loves baby food which is something DD never did. She really only liked some of the fruits. He's still on the small side (still able to wear preemie shorts and 0-3 month tops though some are getting tight to go on over his head. So he does wear some 3-6 month tops but they are on the roomy side). I can see that two piece outfits aren't going to work for us as the pants/shorts are always going to be at least a size too big.
And I've got a nice puncture hole plus scratches on my hand from one of our cats. He and the other two don't get along (really he and the other male cat) and I had been holding him. I went to put him down but didn't want to do it near the other male. Well, the other one decided to follow me and well my hand got the worst of it. It's sort of swollen, tender, and very sore. I washed it out (with soap and peroxide) and then put some antibiotic cream on it. Hopefully that will help.

I can't even imagine chasing 2 crawlers and a toddler, Sophia! Brady is still army style. He looks like a little inch worm dragging himself around. :D He's quick, though. Poor guy has rug burn on his knees. I'm glad to hear that calling Alexa a princess is the perfect compliment for her. ;) Awwww...little girls. What's new with you?
MrsChappy: Hope you are feeling better before your trip.
I can't get over how small Alex is, Meri. What a peanut. Brady is in 9 and 12 months clothing, but he's a beast. No teeth here and I am in no rush for them since I am still nursing. :p These babies on the move.... keeping us on our toes!
My newest obsession, thanks Liz, is cloth diapers. I just ordered my first bum genius diapers yesterday and can't wait to get started! I've been eyeing up the adorable wool covers, but I don't think I'm ready for that just yet! LOL!:)

Sophia,
Love the pictures. The girls are all getting so big. They all look like porceline dolls in their christening regalia.
Mrs. Chappy,
Ugh...I'm so sorry to hear about the UTI. I wouldn't wish one on my worst enemy. This may be too late, but you should be fine to continue TTC. I was actually on antibiotics around the time I conceived Caroline because of the HSG I had the cycle I conceived. Just mention to your practitioner that you are TTC. From what I know, the only concern with some antibiotics during pregnancy is that tetracyclines can sometimes cause yellowed teeth in infants. But, there are plenty of category B abx that are safe to take during pregnancy. Hopefully you can clear up that infection so you'll actually feel like BDing. ;) I find that generally after 3 days or so on abx that i start to feel better though. Have a great trip!
Meri,
Congrats on DS crawling. I can't believe he's to that point already. It seems like he was just born.
Julie,
LOL...just wait until they come in. I love our BG's and only wish we had made the switch sooner.

Thanks guys!! it is a yeast infection so she gave me diflucan and i took it that afternoon..i told her that we were TTC and she said no worries..its safe. i'm feeling better but in my head i'm like 'what if i go away and it comes back' . should i get a monistat just incase??luckilly i have an extra pill just in case so i'll put that in my suitcase. DH was like 'ok, so when do i need to inseminate', men!!! anyway, hopefully we will get in some good BD-ing..we leave in the morning for Aruba.
USA/..crawling, already!! i feel like you just had him!

Mrs. Chappy,
I would bring some along just in case. Like I said, I was on an abx right before conceiving Caroline. When I showed up for my post-coital test about a day or two before ovulation, the Dr. said our chances of conceiving that cycle were slim to none (all of his swimmers were no longer swimming under the microscope) as I had a mild YI, possibly caused by the abx a few days prior. She prescribed me a cream to insert internally. Well, I ended up getting a "Peak" reading on my monitor a couple of days later for the first time ever. Even though DH and I thought our chances were slim to none, we decided to shoot for slim. Despite having a YI, being on internal creams, etc. we got pregnant! So no, I don't think being on a cream will interfere. Bring it just in case, but hopefully you'll be cleared up by then anyway. Good luck!

Julie[/b] ~ Yes, he's definitely a peanut. It's all new to us because DD never was that small. Yes could have worn the newborn items but we didn't buy any so she just wore the 0-3 month even though they were big on her for the first couple of months. She could still wear 12/18 month shorts but I went ahead and bought 2T/24 month. They are just now not falling down on her. DH bought A a baseball short outfit in 18 months and I just hope he can wear it next summer. If not I guess we will just save it for the following summer. My mom bought him a 'my first Christmas' onesie on clearance (they were practically giving it away it was so cheap) in 3-6 months but it's huge so I'm pretty sure that he'll be able to wear it this Christmas. Otherwise I guess we can give it to Sarah to use with one of her dollies. I'm in rush for any teeth to appear. He loves to chew on my fingers so it's defintely better with no teeth.
Liz ~ Thanks. I can't believe he's already to the crawling stage either. He'd love to just take off walking but I'm really not ready for that just yet. He's growing up WAY too fast for me.
Mrs.Chappy ~ I hope the yi is gone before your trip. Good luck. Yeap, we've got a crawler. It feels like he was just born to me as well. It's like I blinked and got a 7 month old.

Boy, has this threaded quieted down!
We started Ava in swim lessions and today was her first session. She wasn't as crazy about it as we had expected, but it was a new pool setting and new people so I guess we can't blame her. It's amazing how rapidly they move along- We definitely have a lot to work on at home in the bath tub now!
Anyone have exciting plans for Labor Day weekend? We're heading up to NC to visit with my parents and maybe do some boating.

No matter how big he is! :) My DS is the baby and he's 31! :( I am feeling okay one minute and then like my stomach is in my throat another. I am having afternoon morning sickness and actually getting sick. With DS I had some nauseous feelings, but not like his. I have been lucky and been on summer break, but my first training day is tomorrow and Wednesday and then school starts 9/5. Not looking forward to having to function again!

Mrs. Chappy I plan on telling them after my u/s on thursday, I will be almost 11 weeks, but I am huge and they all must think I left myself go this summer! We have a meeting all day today and tomorrow but haven't started school yet! I haven't really had m/s in the mornings, it's been in the afternoon after 3 or 4. I had that fear last time when I was actually working then and luckily I only had m/s in the car or when brushing my teeth! I don't plan on telling my class, or the parents until my next appointment in 4 weeks!

Ferris ~ So sorry about the vanishing twin. {{{HUGS}}} Glad that the other baby is doing well and waved at you on the u/s. Like Sophia said, it's normal to feel torn for a while.
Mrs.Chappy ~ Congrats!!
Liz ~ Adorable u/s pics! The little foot pic is just too cute. We have one from DS' big u/s and it's one of my favorites. Did you find out or are you waiting until delivery date? (I can't remember. :o)
DS has been crawling for about two months now. He wants to be doing something all.the.time. He's constantly reaching for the TV controls, the laptop, drinks (which is why if I drink anything it's in a bottle so he can't spill it). He said 'dada' for the first time the other night.
And I absolutely hate rush hour traffic. My dad had a doc appt the other day. We knew we'd be caught in rushhour traffic given the time of the appt and we try to avoid that time if at all possible. Good for DH as he can work a half day but sucks for the other reasons. We sat in traffic for over an hour and were lucky if we went 10 miles. Most, if not all, were talking on their cell phones while driving in that mess. Seems that is not a wise idea at all. (They drive with the cell phone on their ear even when there isn't rushhour traffic so it really doesn't surprise me...and they can't drive all that good then but it's 10 times worse in rushhour. They are switching lanes left and right because this lane is moving and the one they are in isn't. Or they cut right in front of you if you leave just a hair of room between the car in front of you and yourself.) Nope, I know I could never live in a big city and have to deal with that day in and day out. Just not for me (and DH feels the same). If we did live in a big city we'd live close to where we worked or work different hours.
Then we get back to the nursing home and none of the staff help us get him changed, into bed, or anything. So it's just mom and me (mom isn't suppose to lift more than 30lbs and I have CTS which needs surgery so I can't lift much either). We finally get it done but it certainly wasn't easy. Mom's just about ready to see if another place has a opening (and I've been ready since my aunts/uncles put him in there). They didn't even bother to send us his evening meds or give them to him when we got back.:mad::mad:

Just a quick post...
We told our families about baby #2 today during our Grandparent's Day cookout. Most of the ILs pretty well had it figured out, and my s/mom said she's been suspicious for about a week now. BIL was surprised though (which really shocked me because I was convinced he had it figured out weeks ago). My dad was the funniest though. He still didn't pick up on it after DD's "Big Sister 2008" t-shirt or the "Coming March 2008" cake! In fact after he opened his Grandparent's Day card, he asked me "what do you mean 'DD and Baby'?" LOL!

Meri: Sorry about the nursing home frustrations. I can't even imagine what a nightmare that is. I can relate to traffic... it is awful around here. :(

Thanks, Mrs. Chappy! Don't be fooled by that "cute" little foot: it does the devil's work. I think we have a future cast member of Stomp in here with all the dancing on my bladder & cervix.
Meri,
Thanks! Isn't it amazing what they can catch on u/s? No, we didn't find out the gender. We're letting it be a surprise this time around. Though I have to say, it's killing me to know the u/s tech knows and I don't.
Traffic sucks! That sounds like a normal commute for me though. It takes me anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours to travel The Connector (a 7 mile stretch of highway through downtown Atlanta) everyday. Doing it everyday kind of numbs you to it a bit, but it's still the crappiest part of my day.
I can't believe how quickly A is growing up. It doesn't seem like you had him all that long ago and here he is already doing toddler stuff. Crazy!
Naamah,
Sorry the pg has been going so rough. How far along are you now? Hopefully you'll start feeling a little better soon. Do you suspect another girl based on your m/s so far? That is hilarious about your father. Men can be so unobservant sometimes.
Julie,
Thanks!

09-10-2007, 01:12 PM
Julie~LOL! It was halarious. Poor guy was so confused.
LIZ~I'm 11.5 weeks along. My gut feeling really says boy this time. Even though I've got the bad m/s, it's so different from last time around. I'm either feeling great all day or I'm puking all day. Last time, I puked in the morning and was good to go the rest of the day. Also, I've been so exhausted this time around (could be because I have a toddler, though ;)) and bbs are super sore, neither of which really occured last time.
I had a second u/s this morning. OB couldn't get all the measurements she need to because the machine was acting up. We got to see the little guy though and hear the h/b! This baby is so much more active that DD was. I remember her moving around during her u/s's, but this one look like it was jumping on a trampoline the whole time! Looks like we're in for a wild child!

OK, OK, i'll officially join as a RO...(ever-so-cautiously)
Had an u/s today..saw the yolk sac (in another sac..i dont know the terms)..things seemed fine but its soooo early. My EDD is MAy 12th based on my day of conception. the u/s said i was 5weeks so we are all going with that. I had 5 vials of blood taken, two urines and am returning for another u/s next wed (10 days)..Clearly they are being aggressive in my monitoring..but i feel good and i'm trying to be positive.
tgr68, i think boy for you too!
usafwife
09-11-2007, 01:51 PM
Mrs.Chappy ~ Yay for seeing the yolk sac. I hope everything continues to be okay. I'll add you to the RO list.
Naamah ~ I'm thinking your little one is a boy as well. My bbs were so sensitive/tender/sore during the entire pregnancy and I was super exhausted.
Liz ~ Yes, it is amazing what they can catch on u/s. We have a picture of DD with her hand beside her head like she is saluting. The tech knew DH was in the af so she put a cute little caption on the bottom of it 'saluting my daddy.' DH loved that picture. I didn't really want to find out either time but it didn't happen. I did make DH promise not to tell anyone else but immediate family the gender and if someone asked to say we didn't find out. Of course then we got asked all.the.time. about the name. And I refused to tell anyone the name we'd chosen as I wanted it to be a surprise.
I couldn't deal with the traffic. There's one stop up there that is referred to as The Triange and it's a nightmare. It has three major highways (including two interstates and a US highway) coming together and you have to merge into 3 lanes. Definitely an area to avoid during rushhour. At least they are working on it to widen it/revamp it and things are much better (well, once they are finally finished with it). I got really sick of dealing with it for 6 wks when my mom was in the hospital up there.
Yeap, he's growing up. I can't believe it's already almost time to start planning/thinking about his first birthday. He pulled up to standing up yesterday. Of course he's still on the small side at just 15lbs and fitting into mostly 0-3 month onesies....I've put him in the 3-6 month things but they have plenty of room in them...especially the shorts - they just fall off of him. I did buy 6-9 month things for fall but I have a feeling he'll be wearing them when he's 12 months and beyond. I swear this first year has gone by faster than it did with DD.
Julie ~ Thanks. My mom would love to be able to take care of him at home but I think she's finally realized that isn't really possible. They don't really do much for him (don't walk him, do range of motion exercises, etc). An aggrevating thing is that they won't buy more than a 2 wk suppy of meds even though he's not going to be going off/switching them as they are longterm until he's no longer here. I've asked many times to get a 30 day suppy (since that's what insurance allows and pays for) but their response is "we only get a 2 wk suppy in case they switch meds." Uh, that's fine for someone who isn't on longterm meds. Theses aren't meds that can just be stopped for the heck of it...they have to be tapered off them slowly. They also give him more than a few Tylenols each day because he has dengenerative arthritis. Uh, no. The disease he has is what is causing the rigidity/stiffness. Of course no one believes this illness is really a disease since it's not too common (hospice was the same way when we tried to tell them about the disease).
Oh how I wish that my dad was his usual self. I'd have every project around the house done and DH wouldn't have to have such a long list all the time. And he'd also get to enjoy his grandchildren and they would get to enjoy them. If only that were the way things were.

meri I'm with you on the rush hour traffic. I avoid it at all costs! The other morning Addie & I had somewhere to be at 9 and it took us over an hour to get there (usually takes 20 min).
naamah Sorry you're feeling crappy! I felt so much worse this time around too and had the constipation issue this time which I don't remember having with Addie. So my vote is boy! :)
Life here is good but busy. DH has started football season so I'm back to being a single mom for a few months! Baby boy is growing and I'm feeling great. Naamah,
I can't believe you're almost out of your 1st tri. It seems like all of our pregnancies are going so fast this time around. So cute that the baby is so active. Sounds like you are in for a bruised belly here in a few weeks!
Mrs. Chappy,
That's great that they are being so proactive with you. I know with each appointment that passes, I gain a little more confidence. It makes you feel so much better to have a lot of monitoring during the 1st tri when you have no idea how things are going inside. I'm sooo happy for you!
Meri,
I think I remember the u/s of Sarah saluting DH. That is so cute!
Nat,
You look adorable! I love the picture of you and Addie watching the game. Does DH have that one framed on his desk? ;)
I can't remember-did you find out with Caroline??
Yes, we did. It’s killing me to know the technician and OB know what I’m having and we don’t. But, I feel like everything with Caroline was so planned out: right down to my induction. I think it will be fun if at least something is a surprise this time around.

i need a hug..i'm having a bad day. my nanny/babysitter of two years left me a message today saying she won't be coming back tomorrow. um...hello??. what happened to two weeks?? We told her in JULY that ben will be starting school in Sept and that we are cutting her hours..i gave her a month to decide what she wanted to do . She said it was no prob and that she is happy to come at 11:30 one of those days. Well, here we are, and she leaves me a message saying that that just won't work for her. um..hello?? the reason i went over all this in july was to give me time to replace her if i needed and my mom was free all summmer (she's a teacher)..OK, and getting back to the two week thing..i believe its common courtesy. My poor two year old is already asking for her (she only comes the days i work).

Nat ~ I know I couldn't deal with it on a daily basis. We had to deal with it some both were we used to live and down south. Down south we were on a base and didn't go off base that much and when we did we took the back way to places or went on the interstate that was right by the base. The only really busy place was right along the beach which is the major highway through the city and all (probably 90%) the casinos were pretty much along that stretch of road.
I love the pictures! DD watched very intently when we would go watch our niece's basketball games before they moved.
Liz ~ I couldn't believe how quick DS' pregnancy went by compared with DD's. I don't know if mom being so sick during part of it made it seem that much more quick or what. I was thinking that I had posted that pic but wasn't sure. I hope you don't have to have quite so much planning with this one. I didn't want to schedule DS' birth because I wanted the baby to pick the birthdate, same as I wanted it with DD. I think that's the reason I went into labor with her when I did
