Hints to Prepare for THE BIG EVENT:
Birth Plan Checklist (from Pregnancy magazine)
• Do you want pain relief? If so, what kinds of pain relief are you comfortable with?
• What positions are you hoping to try during labor? When the time comes to push?
• What kind of fetal monitoring are you comfortable with during labor?
• What’s your ideal birthing environment? Who do you want to be with you?
• How do you feel about episiotomies?
• Do you want to hold the baby right away?
• Do you plan to breastfeed?
• Do you want to your baby to be in your hospital room with you?
Questions to ask before you get to the hospital (from Fit Pregnancy magazine)
• Will my husband be allowed to cut the umbilical cord?
• Will the nurse give me the baby immediately rather than taking it to the warming table?
• Can the eye ointment and vitamin K shot be delayed until after I’ve nursed the baby, as long as it’s within 90 minutes?
• Can I have the baby with me after a C-section?
• How many genetic disorders does the hospital check for? If they don’t test for the 29 recommended by the March of Dimes (www.modimes.org), ask how you can get those screenings.
• Does the hospital perform a hearing test? If not, ask your pediatrician where you can have one done.
• Does the nursery give the baby pacifiers or formula? Let them know if you’d prefer they do not.
In the Bag! - What to Pack for the Hospital (from Pregnancy magazine and my local MoMs group)
Labor Bag:
• Your insurance card and hospital paperwork, including any cord-blood packaging
• Eyeglasses, if you wear them
• Hair clips and/or ponytail holders
• Lip balm
• Non-slip socks or slippers
• Hard candy to appease hunger
• Extra pillow or two
• Nightgown or bathrobe, if you don’t mind tossing it afterwards
• MP3 player or iPod loaded with your favorite movies or music, or a CD player
• Camera with charged batteries and plenty of memory (or film)
Postpartum bag
• Snacks
• Nightgown or PJs (two-piece PJs with button-down tops work best for nursing) and robe
• A nursing bra, breast pads, and several pairs of underwear you don’t care about ruining (consider support panties in a size just a little larger than you think you’d need)
• A maternity going-home outfit
• Toiletries, including shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, hairbrush/comb, and makeup
• Address book for making calls
• Journal to keep track of feedings and diaper changes
For baby:
• Infant care seat that you’ve already tested to fit in your car (and carriage to help carry your things to the car)
• Going-home outfit (including a matching baby cap, if you want)
• Pair of socks or booties
• Receiving blanket, if it’s cold outside
Questions to Ask When Interviewing Pediatricians: (from Pregnancy magazine)
• Are you a board-certified pediatrician?
• Are you a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics?
• What hospitals do you use?
• What insurance do you accept?
• How many doctors are in your practice?
• What is your call schedule?
• Who is on call when you are not available?
• If my baby gets sick after hours, will I be able to talk to a doctor or someone else?
• Do you keep electronic records that can be accessed in an emergency?
• Is there a separate entrance and waiting area for sick patients?
• Can you describe your care plans for my baby during the first year?
• Up to what age do you treat patients?
• Do you employ a nurse practitioner or lactation consultant?
• How do you feel about prescribing medication over the phone?
• What is your philosophy regarding breast and formula feeding?
• What is your opinion of holistic medicine?
• Do you have children of your own?[/QUOTE]

Welcome, Welcome!!!
Hello July Mommies. The thread is ready to be open for posting. Please take your time and check and make sure we have everything updated. If you know any of the members that haven't posted in awhile you might let them know to stop by the new thread also! We could use some u/s pics of our little boys, girls, and suprises also!
Don't forget post any updates in RED and your TM's will update as soon as possible.
Thanks to the previous mommies threads - especially the JUNE 2007 thread (from whom we quoted heavily) for all the ideas and inspirations for the July 2007 ladies!

Okay I think we are good to go! I will PM a mod and let them know to shut the other one!! Now who will be our first mommy to start off this thread?!?!
QOTD: So...how much have you spent on baby's impending arrival? And I'm talking all things baby and baby-related, such as the stuff you are buying for your hospital bag and so on. Very little. We got lots used and aren't using a crib for quite awhile and got lots from friends and showers. You all would hate me if I told you what I bet we have spent!!
QOTD Are you and your DH still interested in DTD and if so, do you?? And, if you still are, do you feel anything afterwards as far as discomfort, pain, cramping, contractions? Dh is interested. I don't think anything could make him not be! I am not really but we do as I know it can help progress things! We try to at least 2-3 a week now. Some discomfort afterwards but nothing that makes me not want to anymore.
I am so behind I don't think I could catch up up shout outs!! I am just waiting for my appt Wed to see if anything has changed.

Yay!! I can't believe they're almost here!

this is exactly me! I dont want to really but I want to help the baby out!
I'm so tired today. I feel so sluggish and if one more person ask if i have had that baby yet...I might scream;) I hope with my next appt we might know a little more about baby boys arrival. I need to deliever like yesterday
Ceaser- sounds good lady maybe you wont make it to weeks end! Are you still measuring big? I'm now over 4 weeks bigger:confused:
Allie- thanks for the thread, you rock!
jen- hoping the baby turns for you!
gator- great news on your progress. If seems so real now!
mommao- I'm waiting to see if you go or ceaser first. YOu both seem like you're right there.
Okay I need to go work out before I talk myself out of it

Thanks for the new thread!
I can't believe we haven't had any babies yet either...seems like we might be gearing up for some announcements though.
Just wanted to comment on the sharp cervix pain that someone posted about in the other thread. You can add me to the list of those that experiences these every so often. To me it feels like baby is grabbing down there and causing a stabbing sensation. I don't know if I've had any Braxton Hicks or contractions yet though....

Lisa I'll have no problem going first but my gut is that Cesear will go first. I started progressing at around 37 weeks w/ Landon but still ended up late and induced. I REALLY hope that's not my fate this time around.
While we're all anxious it's great that our babes have stayed put and we've not had any super early ones!

thanks for the new thread!! when I saw it, I just had a quick look and I saw "july 2007 and babies arrive" I was like HOLY CRAP someone had their baby... but then I read the "waiting for part..." LOL
not much going on here. RE: DTD - sure we do when we see each other, which is only once or twice a month (and only 10 hours each time) we find a way to fit it in at least once.... DH always hopes for a second time thought LOL
It is hot here today... well, it will be hot all week. So ready to do done. But granted, I remember how yucky it was BFing a baby in the heat. Totally not looking forward to that!!
Hope everyone is well!

j2478- my baby was transverse (sideways) from week 28 until sometime before week 36. I did lots of reading b/c I was worried about it as well. Do you have an exercise ball? I did several exercises on there every day. I sat on it and just lunged back and forth. I also did clockwise circles. I read also that crawling around on the floor helps. I'm totally convinced that crawling around on the floor while grouting our new tile helped to turn the baby! You can also lay with your hips elevated quite high. There is a website out there called spinningbabies.com (I think). There is also a thread somewhere on turning a breech baby. Best of luck to you.
alliannie- thanks for the new thread!

LOL! I would probably have done the same thing if I hadn't made it. hehe!
I just wanted to post that I think LDSAngel will be first. And note that she hasn't posted all weekend!! You around or are you away having us some baby girls??
sharp cervix pain-I sometimes get those. I just figured it was baby boy kicking or hitting something...:confused:. Here is to hoping its some progress. I have decided I am going to go at least a week overdue. I hope I am wrong!

twainny I haven't even considered the heat factor when thinking about BF'ing. Now that I have, it sure doesn't sound like much fun at all. :( I've already warned DH that outdoor summer parties will be pretty much a no-go for me. Never liked them anyway, I'm sooooo not an outdoors kind of girl thanks to Maryland's hot and steamy summers. Give me my air conditioned and comfy apartment any day. :)
Lisa Well..since you want your little one to hurry up and get here, I will officially send you the very first labor vibes of our thread! :) Come on out baby!!!
Katie&Micah I was going to try to stick it out at my work till the bitter end but I'm so miserably uncomfortable that I'm now looking at starting my maternity leave two weeks ahead of my EDD. I do believe that there are several ladies here that are working straight through though. Hope you are able to hang in there.
threadmistress, is there any way for you to put my most recent belly shot on this thread's first page instead of one of my older ones? If you need me to re-post it, just let me know!
Okay, is anyone else getting really irritated with people's reactions to your belly? I passed two women today as I headed out for my daily lunchtime walk who took one look at my belly and started laughing!! :mad:It kind of hurt my feelings, to be honest, plus made me mad. And my sister commented on how many people did a double take at me while we were shopping together over the weekend. And lets not even talk about the woman who stalked us in Walmart, repeatedly telling me that I had a boy belly and asking me if I was positive it was a girl!! :rolleyes:I thought my sister was going to punch her lights out, she was that annoying!!

Gator97: Thanks for the suggestions about turning the baby. I think I am going to start with the pillows under my butt and playing music and shining a flashlight down there. We'll see if that does anything. Everyone keeps saying b/c I am so tall and have a long torso that the baby just has plenty of room in there. I am just at 35 weeks - so hopefully this week the baby will turn. I really don't want to have to go through the procedure of them trying to turn the baby - I heard it really hurts!

I just wanted to post that I think LDSAngel will be first. And note that she hasn't posted all weekend!! You around or are you away having us some baby girls??
Sorry to disapoint! Still here, still very pregnant....
QOTD- Sex LOL, well, no. I've been on pelvic rest since January.
QOTD- Money Hmmm, not a whole lot. $300 for the double stroller and two infant seats. We have our furniture but my parents paid for it. Oh, I did order baby books the other week. So, like $350 total so far.
Okay, is anyone else getting really irritated with people's reactions to your belly?
Yes. I'm getting very tired of hearing how 'small' I am. I've got two four pound girls in there, not two 12 pound turkeys! sigh.
Hi everyone else!
Just checking in for the new thread. I feel great. Had a really busy weekend. Nothing exciting babywise though. A few contrax, but I've been getting them for weeks. My next dr appt. is Thursday, and I'm willing to bet nothing will happen before then.
Here's a quick belly pic from yesterday:
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1402/566009501_f5e0ae6541.jpg?v=0
Oh, and I'm getting the sharp cervix pain too. Baby A is breech so she's pretty much tap-dancing on it. Good times.
Oh, and for the TM- DH and I have both had birthdays, I'm 24 and he's 25. Thanks. While I'm at it, you can put my new belly pic on the front page if you like, and list my next dr appt on 6/21. Thanks!

Had my 35 week appt today. I was running late and got sent straight back so I was kinda' out of breath and overexcited and my BP was high. They had me lie down on my side and came back in 15 minutes or so and retested it and it was back okay. I had a feeling it was just b/c I had gotten myself worked up about running late, but whatever. I'd rather them be over cautious as opposed to the opposite.
I did the Group B Strep test and he checked my cervix and it was thick and closed up tight.
I got an u/s and she is measuring pretty small. Only around 30th percentile...about 5lbs.
But the big news was she is now head down! Yay! Being this far along, she's less likely to turn again, so for that I am really greatful.
B/c of all the problems with my eye, etc. I am probably only going to about two more weeks, or until July 3 and we'll induce. We still have two appts utnil then, so we'll just see.
Anyway, nothing really new to report. I guess we are all just kinda' in a holding pattern waiting to meet our little ones, huh?

Thanks Ericka for the update!!! It is funny she posted today saying it wasn't her going first:p. I can't wait to hear how it goes. :D Thinking of you LDS!!
Irritated at reactions to belly---oh yes. I get irritated all the time. I am small for how far along I am and when people ask and I say how far they look at me like I am lieing. People are dumb I have decided:cool:.
Mel-that is about how big my baby is too. I am glad I am not the only one here with a tiny one. I was feeling weird with everyone having 9lbers!!
Oh and I think I am nesting now...I have rearraged the living room, cleaned the bedroom and gotten almost everything of babys organized and done lots more. Yikes! DH got home from work and looked at me like this:eek:. lol.

So we will have at least one June Mama after all! I am so excited for LDS... she has been through so much! Can't wait to hear her birth story. Granted, she probably won't have that much time for posting, but hopefully someone can relay the message!!!
names - we haven't picked one yet. We will have to decide on one once DH is home for good. Maybe I will get a baby naming book from the library. Though, I do have a few names in mind. My favorite name is currently one that has been in the Top 5 baby boy names for that past 10 years. I just don't want to give him such a common name (granted, there were only 22,000 boys with the name last year, but with DS1, there were only like 300 with his name!)

Well, I may be next. I got a call this afternoon from my dr.'s office. She wants to schedule me to be induced on Friday. I didn't get a chance to talk to her, only the nurse practitioner, but I go in to see her tomorrow morning, so I will find out more then. Part of me is excited, but the larger part of me is terrified! It's a mental thing. I think knowing exactly when it will happen is horrible. I would much rather just have my water break and be like, here we go! I'll be back tomorrow to let you know what decision we come to and why.

LDS Angel 19 had the babies!!!
Info from her live journal (I hope you don't mind me posting this Michelle).
C-section started at 7:30pm.
Baby A--Megan Celeste was born at 8:04pm. She is 3lbs 14oz and 17 inches long. Is doing really well. Was breathing on her own right away.
Baby B--Natalie Grace was born at 8:05pm. She is 4lbs 4oz and 17 inches long. Is having a little trouble breathing. She's on a ventilator now, but they said she's doing really well with that.
Congratulations Michelle!!! and Welcome to the World Megan and Natalie!!!!
Randy- hope you have a great appt and please let us know what you all decide.

Congrats Michelle and yah for the little babies! I am so so happy for you.
Rangerwendy - keep us posted
Annie - thanks for the surprise gift, I hear you about looking small, someone at my company said she just realized I was pg, I am due in less than 1 month. People always are in shock when I say how far along I am also.
Mel - The pictures are beautiful. (I wish my belly button popped out, has everyone else's already popped?)
Me I cannot wait to be done with work. I am now thinking I need to start my maternity leave early and not bc my job, bc all the drama that comes with it. I just keep reminding myself that then I will have to come back earlier, yikes!
I did have my last staff meeting last night and was able to talk to two of my staff so my DH and I won't need day care until at least Lilli is 6-9 months old. They both agreed to help with schedules and it is a huge relieve. So after DH talks to his assistant then we can finalize the decision. The day care we picked out is one of our friends mom and we just sat down with her last week to get price details and etc. And we still didn't give her a definite date so I hope she doesn't get too mad.

Welcome to the world Megan and Natalie! Congrats Michelle and DH!
I really need to go back to catch up on SO's but for now, a few ....
Annie - thanks for starting a new thread - looks like the title was changed after Michelle's announcement.
Can't believe the babies are really starting to arrive now - eek! :eek:
Rangerwendy - good luck making a decision - remind me why they want to induce you Friday? What is your due date?
lovelife- sounds like things are working out - just curious, what do you do? It's great that there is flexibility in your schedule.
mel_hams - you and your daughter look amazing!
Names - we are pretty set on Seth Michael for a boy. I know ya'll have seen me post a bunch of times about girl names before, but if you could indulge me one more time ... I think we are agreed on Samantha Madison for a girl - but I also like Sydney Michele. Opinions? I don't think DH will budge off Samantha (we've both liked it for years) - but we're wavering a little. Guess we have a few weeks to decide? (I hope! - baby could come any time after today - eek!)
QOTD - do you have (or want) a labor buddy or someone that will come in and let the thread know when you have the baby?
I think my best friend (moho116) (I think that's her screen name - she joined but hasn't posted) will post here when I am in labor - and then she'll be able to tell you what our surprise baby is :) - since I don't know when I will be near a computer once I go into labor.
If you want a labor buddy in the thread, I think we can still set that up.
Everything here is good. My surprise shower at work was last week :) It was really sweet and we got a lot of great stuff. The biggest thing was our travel crib (which Scott's mom had also bought but it wasn't taken off the registry) - so Saturday night, Scott and I returned a travel crib and a bouncer his mom bought (turns out we didn't like it as much in person) and bought our Snap-n-Go, Diaper Champ and Aquarium Bouncer (plus a couple of other little items) - at no cost to us! woohoo! (I was also able to use 2 15% off coupons I had for Babies-R-Us which was awesome!)
Sorry for such a long post - hope we're all hanging in there. I can't believe that in less than a month most of us will be meeting our babies - eek! As much as I'm ready for "her" to get here (I keep saying "her" even though I have no clue) - I really want to try and enjoy these last few weeks of just DH and I. (not to mention, I am counting on that last week before baby is due to actually wash clothes, sheets, etc and get the room ready - right now everything is in the garage b/c DH won't let me bring it in the house! :eek:(superstitious)
Have a great day all - and yay again to Michelle and our first July babies!

Congratulations Michelle! Megan is one of the girl names we are considering (we have a couple and can't decide.
So exciting that babies are arriving!
Robyn: I like both of your names but like Sydney just a little more. We are the same way. Right now Allison is and has been the front runner but we are also considering Megan, Carolyn, Kathryn.
Lovelife: My belly button hasn't popped either. In fact it is not even flat I can still stick a little bit of my finger in there.
Katie: I am due one day before you. We might be battling it out in the end:)

Ditto on the belly button - I'm thinking it won't pop.
Jen - I like all of your names - Megan and Allison would probably be my top two. I am with you on Sydney - Dh likes it but not enough for his first daughter - maybe if there is a DD #2 he says, *lol* - let's have #1 first! (but he said I should get opinions from the board so I'll see what he says now ;))
One more question - does anyone else feel like they have to go to the bathroom again immediately after they go? It's beginning to drive me crazy - especially when I'm trying to get on the train to go home!

Yes!! I'll go and by the time I make it back to my desk, I feel the same pressure again, like I never even went to begin with. It almost feels like I'm walking around with a UTI all of the time, without the associated pain, if that makes sense.
rangerwendy Keep us updated on your situation so we know if you are going to be induced this Friday. Its hard to believe we have now arrived at the point where our babies are going to be making their appearances.
j2478 I like all of your names, but I'm partial to K-names myself, so I like Kathryn the best! :)
lovelifeandlivelove Mine is in the process of popping, its kind of halfway now, but more inside than out I'd say. Do you mind me asking how much your daycare is charging you? Its horrendously expensive where we live, so I'm curious.
QOTD - do you have (or want) a labor buddy or someone that will come in and let the thread know when you have the baby?
Yup, my buddy is here on CC. If you notice Tonysweetie posting in here, you'll know that something is going on with me! :D

RobynScott...
I really like the name Sydney Michele. I can't explain why.. I just really like it!
j2478..
I'd be happy to let you win this one! lol I don't want to be last.. I just think it'll end up that way..
One more question - does anyone else feel like they have to go to the bathroom again immediately after they go?
Yes! It feels like 45 seconds later I'm ready to go again!! So frustrating.
I don't think my belly button is going to pop either. I've still got a pretty good sized indent.

Kym - she is charging 220 per week full time (d/o at 6am and p/u no later than 5pm - most likely at 3pm). She wouldn't even tell us the part time price saying that it is practically the same. All of the centers though around here are like 1500+ for the month :eek:
Robyn - I work as program manager for a group home (I help people with disabilities be happy!)
This is long but overall the job is great. I switched houses right after I found out I was pg (got promoted :)) And it has been rough. The staff I used to work with were all friends or at least tolerated each other for the sake of the job, but this house not so much (lots of pettiness, talking behind people's backs, snide comments during staff meetings directed at each other, etc) Up until last night's staff meeting I thought I was keeping them from each other's throats but now I am not so sure. And that unfortunately doesn't even include the difficulties with the legal guardians! My assistant will be having her hands full while I am gone (she used to be the manager so a lot of the things involve(d) her, but she has been good about TRYING to stay above it more recently).
BTW I love the names Madison and Sydney (first or middle name)
Jen - I like Allison, Megan and Kathryn
Posting buddy - I probably should ask my sister to do this for me!
Bathroom - It comes and goes. During the night I can sleep maybe like 1 hour before having to go again!!
Has anyone been having cramps in their upper legs along their bikini lines? The just come and go and aren't really like charley horses.
I can't wait to see what everyone's surprise babies are!

WOO-HOO CONGRATS TO LDS on your TWO LITTLE GIRLS!!!!!!
Rangerwendy Thinking of you - keep us posted on the induction. Why did they want to induce?
Robyn Oh, tough call, I have always liked the name Samantha, but I really like Sydney as well...
Mel-hams Great photos!!!! Makes me wish that we had done some professional shots. You look fantastic.
j2478 I like your names, of those my favorites are Allison and Kathryn.
Bellybuttons: Ummm, yeah, I think my bellybutton popped out way back in February. I'm wondering if it will ever go back in!
Bathroom Trips Yep, it seems like when I first go, I have to go again 10 minutes later for the "real" pee. For some reason I just can't get it out the first time. And I definitely have that "walking around with a UTI minus the burning" sensation. I even asked my doctor last time to make sure they check the urine sample for UTI's.... (they do).
Work shower: Work surprised me with a shower last week. They got me a cake and all pitched in for a babies r us gift card. I was shocked by the generosity, it was around $300!
Work So today is my last day at work before taking leave. I'm glad that I am taking off early to have time to relax and prepare (both preparing the house, and also preparing emotionally for birth), but everyone keeps making me feel guilty about taking off early with comments like "what are you going to do for three weeks?" "you are going to be so bored" or telling me first babies come late anyways... I don't know, I'm so achy, stiff and swollen, I am thinking it is good I won't be sitting at my desk in my office anymore. I don't think it's helping. Not to mention that we still have to set up our nursery (it's still a guest room at the moment). So I think there will be some stuff to do. I also want to visit a few more day cares and I need to finalize our pediatrician choices.

Hey Girls! Firstly,
Congratulations Michelle!!! and Welcome to the World Megan and Natalie!!!!
Ranger! I'm so curious to find out why you'll be induced! Good luck!
Had our 38 week appt. today and all is well.
Measuring at 40 weeks, so not AS far ahead as I was! Yay:) Also he said we wouldn't even talk induction till I was 41 weeks which makes me happy since I DO NOT want to be induced. Yay again! Other than that, all is well!
Robyn- yah on your shower and all you got! I like Samantha but Sydney is close behind.
j2478- I like the K names too. We already have a girls name picked out if we ever have one again. I like Allison b/c my friend is Aliison and everyone calls her Alli. I like it
lovelifeandlivelove- $1500 a month:D wow! thats just...wow!
Katie- If I wasnt determined to not go over my EDD this time I think you have me beat. I'm always last;)
me- I must look huge b/c everyone keeps asking when Im due and that there is no way I'll last that long. I thought I looked smaller than with the last two but I guess not;)
QOTD-do you have (or want) a labor buddy or someone that will come in and let the thread know when you have the baby?
I will mostly be induced or I will have our laptop with us. I'll post or have DH
QOTD-does anyone else feel like they have to go to the bathroom again immediately after they go?
Always. DH thinks I'm losing my mind.
where is Ceaser? Baby maybe?? never mind ceaser and I cross posted :)

Don't let anyone make you feel guilty. You pretty much summed up exactly how I feel about starting my maternity leave two weeks ahead of my due date. And I'm already so miserable now that the thought of being here another two weeks makes me want to cry, but I am going to try to tough it out if I can. If I make my last day 7/4, it will be exactly two weeks before my EDD. Of course, we will be closed on the 4th, so technically my last day will be 7/3.
I don't know, I'm still trying to make up my mind on it. In a way, it would be alot easier for me to choose the date for starting my leave if I knew when baby was going to arrive..like if I had a scheduled induction or c-section. I want to avoid induction though if at all possible. I think we will have a much better idea after we get this ultrasound done this Thursday. My OB will definitely let me know if she thinks a c-section is going to be necessary. Since she's already mentioned it as a possibility several times, I'm going to hazard a guess that my chances of actually having a scheduled c-section is probably about 65% right now. We shall see.

Congrats LDS on your 2 little ones!!
As for me, I went to my dr. today because she wanted to discuss an induction. She really wants to induce because of size. My "little" girl is already measuring at 8 lbs according to the sonogram. Now I know those sonograms can give you a false reading on size, but this sonogram tech has been doing this forever and he is extremely accurate, usually within 6 oz. So I trust he is pretty much spot on. Plus, I seem to be gaining weight more rapidly instead of tapering off like you are supposed to, so my dr. is also worried about late GD. My dr. really wanted to induce me next week, not this week, but she can't get me in at the hospital. Because of the long holiday weekend, they already have all of the slots filled for inductions for high-risk pregnancies. She had to beg to get me in this Friday. She is just concerned if we don't go ahead this week, and she doesn't come on her own next week, that I will be looking at 10lb+ baby and she really doesn't want that for me with my first delivery. I don't want it either!:p I measured 2 cm dilated today and she went ahead and stripped my membranes to see if I would go into labor on my own. I have some cramping so far but nothing serious. I know it is usually 50/50 whether this works or not, so I'm not holding my breath. So now I am just trying to decide whether to let her do the induction or not. My gut says go ahead and do it but my brain says no way!!! I think it is just a mental thing. I don't really want to know when I'm about to be in a lot of pain. Would rather it just happen. All of my friends who have had babies before say do it. They all had good experiences. So that is my dilemma. What do you all think? Sorry for the long post!!

WOW...I have lots to catch up on....
LDS~ Congrats on the arrival of Megan and Natalie....Love both of their names...
rangerwendy~ That is a hard decision to make but i dont think the doctor would want to induce if there wasnt a reason too. Good luck...sending you ~~~labor vibes~~~~ so you wont need the induction...
labor buddy~ dont have one...but we will have the laptop with us...so either I or DH will post....
work~ I have been out of school since May 24th! Good thing b/c i am one cranky pg lady
bathroom~ yes I feel like I have to go ALL the time and then the pressure that I feel if bad too...
belly button~ mine is pretty deep...I can still stick my finger in there :) I dotn think it will pop out...
Now I have a question of my own....
How I am gonna know that I am really IN labor?
I "think" i have felt some contractions...but i have no idea if its contractions or just baby moving and tightening...just thinking about it...
My next appt is tomorrow at 2:45....I am hoping I have at least some news to share...but I doubt it...I think Eli is veeeeery comfy where he is...I am going to ask about another u/s....I have a feeling he is really big...I dont know why its just a feeling...
Hope everyone is well...

Ranger - I would avoid an induction, because I had 2 unsuccessful ones with my son, but its a very personal decision.

rangerwendy I'd avoid the induction if I could. I was induced w/ Landon and it went as positively as it could but I'm desperately trying to avoid it this go 'round. Again, nothing went "wrong" but the pitocin made the contractions go from 0 to 60 in 2 seconds and I just really wonder what they feel like w/ out being "forced". You and DH have to decide what is best for you. Good luck weighing the pros and cons. What's your actual EDD? I'm off to check the front page.

Rangerwendy - Good luck with any decision you make. I am not sure what I would do in that situation as my sister and my best friend both were induced and ended up with c/s. But then again the drs. should know best and everyone is different.
Polkadot - I have no clue if its contractions or movements either. I have had some movements that felt a little differently lately (esp. today) and make me stop moving and wonder "was that a contraction maybe?"
From some of the books I have read, they say that the contractions will begin in your back then spread to your lower abs or will be felt in your entire abdomen, become stronger and more painful and won't go away when you switch positions (actually become stronger), that the pressure will rise and reach a peak for like 30 seconds then fall rapidly. Other than that I think when it hits you will know (or at least I hope).
Kazata - yah on your work shower!

06-19-2007, 06:11 PM
ranger - i would do the induction. If the estimates are right, and the babe is already 8 lbs, you have a much better chance at avoiding a c/s now than you would when the babe is 10 lbs! Plus, it sounds like you will have your doctor there this week, if you actually go into labor in the next two weeks will your doctor be there? (I don't remember if you said it was a hospital issue or your doctor not being available.) Just be comfortable with your decision. Good Luck!
I can't believe July is just a little over a week away! Time is flying!!!
I have been able to work 5 hour days. It has been really nice. but I must say, 1:30-4 o'clock sure FLIES by when I am at home (when I am at work those hours DRAG by!) I have been trying to get stuff done around the house, but I haven't been too successful. I tend to take a nap and be lazy! LOL
I did move the boxes of clothes out of DS' room today. I was looking for the boxes of 0-3 month stuff. I didn't find any!! (could be mismarked) but I have 5 (yes 5!!) boxes of 3-6 month stuff!!! Holy crap!! LOL I guess my next job would be to actually go through the boxes and figure out what is what and find summer clothes (ie onesies)
Ranger- from a lady that has had (2) 9lb babies I say go for it. I had to successful inductions but MommaO is right about the pitocin. Contractions go from nothing to so quick. I get epi's though so I doesn't matter to me. I actually want to be inducted this time to aviod another big baby.

Induction - Well, I know Im speaking from 2 FAILED inductions at 41-42 weeks, but from everything I've read its better to birth a larger baby than to force yourself into labor before your body is ready. You have a great chance at a csection with an early induced birth than a regular birth with a larger baby, if that makes sense. In my case, I still wasn't ready to go into labor at 42 weeks, but Im sure I would have went into labor given another week.
Dana, you had 2 failed ones? wow. What did they end up doing a c-section? Sorry you had such a bad experience. Will they let you want to go into labor this time?

I'm feeling sad today. DH and I sat down last night and really discussed our options as far as what I'm going to do about my job and daycare options. A part of me feels very obligated to stay where I'm at. My job is incredibly boring and I have very little to do in my position. But..I have a great boss. He is very understanding, has bent over backwards regarding my sick leave and doctors appointments during this pregnancy, and has gone completely above and beyond anything you would normally expect from a boss. For instance, he came to our big baby shower and showed up with about $500 in gifts. No joke, he singlehandedly brought our nursery theme to life. And when I got married two years ago, he gave us around $500 in cash between my work shower and wedding gift. And I know he will be awesome when it comes to baby being sick or whatever and me having to leave to attend to her. So yes, I feel like the right thing to do is stay here.
But...my heart is breaking at the idea of putting my baby in daycare at such a young age. I will get six weeks off of work if I deliver normally, eight if its a c-section. We are visiting a daycare provider this evening that runs it out of her home and I'm sitting here making a list of questions to ask, but I have this awful feeling inside me about leaving her with someone else. Our original plan was for me to look for something in the evening or night so one of us would be home with her. A part of me wants to stick with that because I feel so bad about putting our baby in full time daycare. But another part of me feels like I should return to my regular job.
Sorry for the book. I just don't know what to do here....:(:confused:

Kym ~ i think that everyone has the same feelings towards making this decision. Its such a hard decision even if you are comfortable with the place you are leaving the baby. I am fortunate enough that my MIL will watch Eli until my school opens their on site daycare. I am very fortunate but I would LOVE to be able to be SAHM...but i just know that its not possible. Just remember that your little girl will be OK...there are plenty of children who are in daycare at an early age and they are A-okay..
(((hugs))) on making your decision..dont rush into it...just take your time...you will make the right decision!!

Dana, you had 2 failed ones? wow. What did they end up doing a c-section? Sorry you had such a bad experience. Will they let you want to go into labor this time?\
Yep, she gave me the option of inducing a few days before my due date but at the last minute I canceled it. Then I went another week or so and she induced me. All it did was give me HORRIBLE back pain, I never dilated, so they sent me home. It was soo depressing coming home that weekend without our baby. She only let me go to 42 weeks so I induced again 3 days later, and the same thing happened. I went in the night before for cervadil, started having awful back pain, and only dilated to 2cm if that. So at that point I had my choice of a 3rd induction the next day or a csection! Fun choices huh.
So this time I'm hoping for a VBAC. She said she would allow me to go over again as long as everything is fine. I just pray I go into labor on my own or I will be headed for an ERC.

Kym - do you have to go back to work at 6 weeks? Do you think you guys could afford for you to take any unpaid leave? Or could you maybe try and get a part-time job for 6 or 8 weeks (you obviously don't have to tell the pt job how long you plan on being there) and then put the baby in daycare it 12 weeks or so?
If it's any consolation, my mom went back to work at 6 weeks and a friend of mine had to do the same with her daughters (had them before there was FMLA) - and though I'm not saying it's ever easy, they were fine. Sounds like your job is super flexible (and not too trying) - and that can be really hard to come by. Sounds like a good job to keep if you can (notwithstanding your boss' generosity which is really a non-factor to me).
Good luck figuring things out - I know it's not easy!

Its not the job thats super-flexible in all honestly, it really is all due to my boss. He has made it super flexible for me. And the generosity..well, its come in many forms from him over the past few years that he has been my boss. I don't want to get too specific just for safetys sake, so I'll just say that he has made sure I was covered leave-wise, even when I had no leave to speak of. Thats among many things. To be quite honest, if it weren't for him, I would have left long ago. I'm just having a hard time here figuring out my options.

From the Sarcastic Journalist at Baby Gaga:
Are we there yet?
by The Sarcastic Journalist
If you’ve paid attention to any pregnancy books, you’ll read that most babies are born between 36 and 41 weeks. You’ve heard that, haven’t you?
I swear, it seems to me that every woman, especially first time moms, think that their baby is going to come at 36 weeks. Here’s a hint: Most likely, it won’t.
I know, I know. I’m a mean person. How could I tell you that your baby isn’t going to come today? You know you’re thinking that.
Wait- what was that twinge- is that labor? Ooh, maybe it was labor? Could it be labor?
No.
I know it’s hard to hear that, but the sooner that you learn to accept the cold hard truth that early labors happen to “other people,” the sooner you can get on with the rest of your pregnancy. Worrying about whether or not today will be the day isn’t going to make the baby come any faster. Trust me, I’ve tried.
You’ve been looking in the mirror and you’ve wondered how you could possibly get any bigger. There’s no room for the baby in there! You just KNOW you have to go into labor early.
Unfortunately, your body has other plans. It plans on keeping that baby in there forever!
Think of it this way: Would you rather have the baby stay “longer” now, when it is a fetus in your belly, or move back in after college? At least now, if the baby is in your belly, people will feel sorry for you and bring ice cream and cake. When the kid moves in after college? They’ll just gossip behind your back and call you a bad parent.
Staying pregnant for a few more weeks is totally worth it.

Rangerwendy That's a really tough (and as others mentioned personal) decision. If I was in your shoes I would lean towards no induction, but I can understand wanting to induce as well. Can you ask about your bishop score (I think that is what it is called - basically it takes various factors into account to give you an idea of whether an induction would likely be successful in your case. The higher the score, the more likely the induction will work. On the flip side, the higher the score, the more likely you will go into labor on your own soon as well...so...)
Kym That's a tough call. I think having a job that can be flexible for baby care is a huge benefit. If you go part time, you may have flexibility in terms of not working all the time, but since you'll be the new person, you may have to be at work, when you are scheduled, you know? My suggestion is similar to Robyn's - if you can afford to go part time somewhere else instead of full time, can you afford to take the full 12 weeks FMLA (even if unpaid) before going back to work and that way have a bit longer before putting your baby in daycare?

Lisa..
Great pics!
Kym...
I'm so sorry you're feeling this way. Dh and I had briefly talked about working different schedules so that one of us would always be home with Maddy, but honestly, when would we see each other? So we've decided to try in home day care. I honestly feel much better about her being in someone else's home rather than in a center. I really wish we had family close enough that could watch her, but we don't, so this is our best option. I don't have any feelings of guilt right now, but I'm sure as the time comes closer I will.
Me--My work just called and they are filling out my leave of absence paperwork. July 20th is officially the last day I'll work before maternity leave starts. Most of you will already have your babies.. but I think it's better that I have more time off after the baby than before. I'll just sit around and feel sorry for myself that I haven't delivered yet. lol Hopefully this will help make it more bearable now that I have a definite date to look forward to. But deep down I'm still hoping and praying that she decides to come earlier than that!
Today my feet and ankles look like they belong to him..

Rangerwendy: Sorry I have no advice for you since this is my first time. I hope that everything works out for you though!
Kym: I would say what everyone else is - look for something part time. My current job requires me to have a real estate license and my company has all of the fees associated with the license (about $1700 a year) paid up through the end of 2007. So I am quitting my job but keeping my license - I figure maybe I can sell a house or two between now and then for extra money. The original plan was to quit completly and look for something part time next year. I still planning on finding a new part time job next year since I would have to pay the fees for my license next year. I personally think working part time is the best option for us: still mainly get to be at home with the baby, but at the same time get to get out of the house and contribute to the family income. Sorry about writing the book but I am sure you will be able to find an arrangement that makes you happy!
Speaking of work: I just have to share this even though it may not be appropriate I am just so grossed out! I always clear my history a couple times a day from the internet on my computer b/c well I am on this site and many, many others that are not work related. I am also the only one who is ever on my computer. Today I went to clear it and saw there was a tab for Tuesday and I thought that was weird that I didn't clear it before I left yesterday. So I look at it and it is porn!!!! Totally gross porn websites. I know my boss (who is the owner) looks at porn on his computer - I have seen it in his favorite settings and such but Yuck, he was totally at my desk doing who else knows what while sitting here!
Hopefully everyone else's day is going better than mine!

update from Michelle's LJ.. (I really hope you don't mind Michelle.. but I figured everyone here is really interested in how you and the girls are doing!)
Just thought I'd do an update since I've got some time...
Megan has been doing well. She's breathing fine on her own. She has been bottle feeding from the start, but has been spitting up alot. They said this morning if she dosen't have a poopy diaper today they may have to put in a feeding tube for awhile. She's in an isolette right now, can't quite keep her temp up on her own. They were saying last night she's starting to look a little yellow, might be a tad jaundiced. But they did take out her IV yesterday. And Aaron and I both got to hold her for the first time.
Natalie is still on the vent, but they decreassed the oxygen level yesterday and she has tolorated it ok. They are going to keep decreasing it each day and if she does well she'll be totally off the vent soon. She gets a little fiesty at times and tries to pull out her tubes. So now they keep her swaddled most of the time. Because of the vent, she's in an isolette and we've only gotten to touch her a few times. She's tube-fed, and not as often right now until she gets her breathing figured out.
I probably won't be able to get pics up until I get home. Most everyone agrees both girls look just like daddy.
As for me, recovery has been ok. I felt really good most of yesterday, but last night they took out my IV, so no more of te really good drugs, lol. The pain from my incision can get really bad if I get behind on my meds at all. But when the meds are working and I'm not in much pain I can get up and walk pretty well. Bleeding is fine, less than I expected. I've started pumping, without much success so far. I hope my milk comes in soon. The best part is I'm back on a normal diet. I haven't eaten a ton yet, but what I have eaten hasen't caused any issues. And the killerheart burn is gone. They took the bandage off my incision, and that creeps me out a little.
I think that's about it. Time to pump again. I'll write more soon.
Katie- thanks for the update! and for the comment on the pics. I had a great time! good for you getting your maternity leave worked out. Staying busy is lways good especially toward the end!
yah Michelle, hang in there girl. Can;t wait to see pics of the girls

Congratulations Michelle!!!
Katie-lol at the pic you posted and your ankles. You crack me up:p.
j2478-EWW!!!
rangerwendy-I agree totally a personal decision. I doubt I would do it but I want to avoid a csection at all costs. But I don't have to think about how big my baby will be either so I have a different point of view! I am sure you will make the best decision for your baby and body:).
jimmysgirl-Good luck deciding what to do. I feel you 110% as I try and decide if I should get a full time job so we have more money(which we need) or to stay part time so I can stay with baby. It is a very hard decision. I do think the flexiblility your boss provides could be invaluable though.
Lisa-Great pics! and yeah for baby dropping!
Well I am pretty sure I didn't get everyone but the last two days our thread as come to life! I had a dr. appt this morning. It was pointless. I didn't even see my dr. He got called to an emergency c-section while I was in the waiting room. So they did all the normal stuff and sent me on my way!! Baby is moving something crazy the last few days though. He used to always be on my right side and has now taken up an uncomfortable spot on my left.

Another update from Michelle's LJ
things change quickly these days...
We went over to see the girls just before noon. That's the one time a day they are both changed/checked on etc at the same time so it's nice to actually see them when they are awake. We got there while the nurse was going vitals on Natalie. Then she changed her diaper. And with Aaron and I and the nurse standing there watching, she pretty much just spit the vent right out! The nurse yelled for the Dr, but Natalie was just relaxing and brething on her own just fine! That girl knows what she wants, and I guess she wanted no more of that vent. She'd been trying to yank it out but found a better way I guess. So now they have her in a cozy little oxygen tent just so she can relax, and she'll start bottle feeds tonight or tomorrow. I'm really happy we just happened to be there right then.
THEN, I got to hold Megan and give her half her bottle and Aaron gave her the other half. That was awesome. Hopefully most of it will stay down.
Oh, I'll be going home either tomorrow or Friday. We haven't gotten any real specific word on the girls but it will likely be 2-3 weeks. Who knows though, since we saw today that things can change pretty quick.
How great to see the girls are improving so quickly!!! Can't wait to see pics Michelle!

Wow, this thread is moving!!
First off, Congrats Michelle, and Welcome Megan and Natalie!! It's great to hear that they are doing so well.
Katie, you are too funny with the Michelin man pic!
Kym, I'm sorry you have to go through the early daycare dilema...maybe your boss would let you work part time for awhile after the maternity leave is over? Or could you do your job from home for a few weeks?
Ranger, I don't have much advice for the induction. Maybe you could try natural methods first (I'm a big believer in acupuncture)
Lisa, very cute pictures!
And some QOTD answers
labor buddy...I'm planning on having my laptop at the hospital, so dh or I will post updates
work...Right now the plan is to work until I deliver, but that plan sucks more and more each day, of course I really want as much time as possible after babe is born
bathroom...my bladder is doing pretty good. I don't really have too many urges throughout the day...but some days are worse than others.
belly button...mine is almost flat, I still have a little indention.
me...I've been seeing a chiropractor a couple of times (will continue until I deliver). I'm really hoping it helps labor and delivery go smoothly. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. My follow up appointment with my surgeon was on Monday. He said my scar is healing up nicely. He's a little concerned that the incision site may cause a little extra pain when pushing and there's the chance of a hernia, but what can ya do. My next appt is tomorrow, so we shall see how the little man is doing.

KYM I feel your pain about daycare. I even applied for a job at the daycare my baby will be at just to see. They offered me the job but it was literally less than half of what I make teaching, so there was no way I could take it. That should give you an idea of what the pay was, if they paid less than 1/2 of what a teacher makes!!
As for me, I lost my mucous plug this morning(I'm pretty sure, but not 100% positive. How do you really know anything your first time around). Plus, my husband got home from a business trip last night and immediately commented on how low my belly has dropped. And I have been having some uncomfortable contractions, but not super painful and not regularly. So, pray for a naturally occurring labor for me instead of induction. Maybe my little girl will beat them to the punch. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!:)

Hi girls~
Just got back from the doctor..I actually have progress to report....nothing big but...he said my cervix is softening...and I am almost a fingertip dialated...but not close enough to call it one cm., and Eli is head down. He did an u/s b/c he could tell I was concerned about his size and position...but you could see him, head down, with his butt and legs right in my ribs, where I feel him all day long...so thats my report...:D
I know that I could never get past this point and could have to be induced, but atleast I feel like my body is starting to do its job, that was a big worry of mine since I felt like my body was giving me the finger when we were TTC. :rolleyes:
So thats my report...
Michelle~ cant wait to see pics of the girls...
katie~ you are too funny with the michelin man pic...
rangerwendy~ Whoo Hoo about losing your MP...thats good..things are moving along in here!!
Hope everyone else is good!!

rangerwendy Woohoo! Yay on losing the MP!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that your little girl beats everyone to the punch and comes on her own. Sending {{{labor vibes}}} your way! Keep us updated.
MommaO Hey, progress is progress, right! Hope it goes fast for you!
polkadot Okay, I can't believe how many of our mommies are reporting back with progress! Good for you! Sorry you are so uncomfortable. Did your doctor seem concerned at all with Eli's size?
mel_hams Are you 100% positive that its BH that you are having? Or could it be the real thing? Keep us posted!
BrownEyedGirl I was wondering how you will do with labor and delivery with that incision still so new. I know its healing up, but I am still concerned for you. Let us know how your appointment goes today. Mine is today too!
alliannie Are you on weekly appointments yet? Are they bringing you back earlier since you didn't get to see your doctor yesterday? I hear you on the baby's movements, my little one has been going crazy in there and making her mama very uncomfortable at times. I had to get out of my glider last night and sit on my exercise ball for awhile just to stop the pain.
Okay ladies, today is my 36 week u/s as well as my regular doctor's appointment. I am going to ask our u/s technician to check the baby's sex for us since I've been driving myself and everyone around me bugshit worrying that its a boy and not a girl! :rolleyes: So keep your fingers crossed for me that we don't get any surprises today!
On a bad note, DH has been really, really sick since Monday. His doctor is stumped, he's been running a fever and his body is obviously fighting something, but she doesn't know what. He had already taken a full course of antibiotics and two days after he finished them, he was sick and running a fever again. When he went back to his doctor yesterday, she said it "could be" an upper respiratory infection, or it "could be" some time of viral infection. She put him on another course of antibiotics, but warned that if it is a viral infection, it would just have to run its course as the antibiotics won't help. Last night, his fever climbed up to 103.2 and scared the crap out of me. I've never seen him so sick. :( I couldn't get him to drink, to eat, nothing. I even tried to get him into a cool shower to help bring his fever back down but he was so weak that he couldn't get off of the couch. I was finally able to get some Tylenol Severe Cold liquid into him and his fever started dropping. This morning it was down to about 98.9, so thats somewhat of a relief, but each day it seems like he battles a fever that keeps going up. His doctor said if he's still running a fever come Monday that he will have to go back for blood tests and a chest x-ray. All of this while I'm sitting here at 36 weeks and miserably scared that something serious is wrong with him. :( And of course, we're both terrified that I could go into labor and he could still be sick and not able to be there with me. So everyone, please send me some "baby stay where you are for now" vibes until he gets better.

Kym Hope all goes well at your appt today and that the U/S and it simply confirms what you already kniow- that you will soon be holding a baby girl. :) Oh and big "get well" vibes to your DH. Hey girls! I feel better this morning. They continued until about 1am and then softened up. I've been having such strong BH since about 28 weeks (I hear they are supposed to be worse with the 2nd pregnancy, but these are so horrible) but last night's were especially bad. I wonder if b/c he checked me Monday at my visit (no dialation or effacement) that it's just things starting to get to work? Who knows. Either way, I wonder if I may should request to NOT be checked this Monday. I had the cramping for a couple of days first and then that awful night last night. Ugh. I just need a little break to gain up some strength to go through labor and those first few weeks with a baby, you know what I mean? Anyway, sorry to gripe. I guess I am just so tired!
I know most all of you understand what I mean by that!

mel-Glad your BH have gone away. I can't decide if I was you if I would get checked or not. I would want to know of those made me progress but I wouldn't want to go through it again. Good luck deciding!
QOTD: Those of you who are sending out birth announcements, have you picked out which one you will use and have you begun addressing the envelopes yet? We aren't sending them out.
Kym-I hope your DH feels better too and I am sending your baby girl some stay put vibes till he does! I am on weekly appts. And nope they told me to come back at my normal weekly appt no sooner even though I didn't see the dr. So I could be effaced or dilated and not have a clue:eek:
ranger and polka-woohoo for progress!!
Katie-How are the feet and ankles today?? Any better?
Well last night was horrible. Really. I have to admit to that it is probably my fault:o. DH and I had sex and afterwards I got VERY crampy. Much more than normal. I stayed crampy all evening and was pretty miserable at his ball game. We got home and went to bed. I woke up at 3 having contractions. I stayed awake timing them(about 10 mins apart). But at about 4 they stopped and I feel back asleep. Then a little later I woke up sick to my stomach and was miserable and having some again. Those stopped to and I was finally able to sleep. I just got up this morning:o and I feel better but am still crampy. I am now officially scared to have sex again!! So we will see what today brings.

Okay, I'm reeeeeeally glad that I'm going to the doctor's today. I don't know what is going on, but I'm having pains down low, some of them so bad that they almost feel like an electrical shock. And I also feel very crampy too. I know the baby has definitely dropped and am attributing most of this to her having new and tender areas to kick and punch on, but some of this pain just doesn't seem right to me.

Hey girls! Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I feel like I'm just playing the waiting game now. Everything is done and we're just ready for this babe to arrive...okay, I AM ready for her to arrive, dh says she can wait till her due date so he can work a couple more weeks!
Had an appointment on Tuesday. All is well, measuring 40 weeks now but havent gained weight the past couple weeks, so YAY for that! We don't really do internals in Ontario, so I'm not sure if anything is really happening, but I think my body is gearing up as I've been very crampy and having lots of bh like lots of you have. I'm really hoping she comes before of very close to her due date as the dr. said we'd "TALK" inducing at 41 weeks but they really don't like to induce and even with my "big" babe he'd like me to go into labor on my own...but would love to see me in L&D ASAP!
Okay, onto replies!
Kym- I hear you on the crampyness and I think this is normal but the other pains don't sound so fun. Keep us updated! Hope dh is feeling better soon!
LSD- Thanks for the update! So glad everything is well with you and your girls! Let us know how they're doing. I'm so happy for you!
Mel- Glad your bh have subsided. Sounds painful! We don't get internals here. I suppose they figure there is no real point since you could be dialated for weeks or you could be closed up tight and go into labor the same day!
QOTD: Those of you who are sending out birth announcements, have you picked out which one you will use and have you begun addressing the envelopes yet?
I may get to this in the next couple weeks if babe doesn't arrive :p
MammaO - Yay for progress!
Rangerwendy- Hoping you're in labor or have had your babe by now! So exciting to have lost your plug! I keep checking the toilet on a regular basis:o
Browneyedgirl- Hope your appointment went well. Let us know how it went!

Thanks for all the thoughts about my fat feet! They looked really good when I woke up, but they're starting to get fat again. I had my dr's appt. today and everything was ok. That's how I've been describing my cervical pain. I say it feels like little pelvic lightening strikes. I've been having them for a couple of weeks now, but much more frequently since the internal on Monday. I think it's our cervix trying to thin out and get busy, don't you?
wow a busy thread today!
Wendy- yeah on the MP! Hopefully you will start labor soon!
Kym- sorry about DH. Hopefully baby girl wont come while he is so sick. I hate when my DH is sick:( Hooray on your u/s and I know you're having a girl. but its cool you can get double checked
Mel- sorry about the painful contractions! Hopefully they are doing some good and getting you ready to meet your little girl.
Michelle- so glad you checked in! Can't wait to see pics of your girls! You're so blessed to have them. I cant wait to meet my little guy!
Allie- the sex thing, same thing here. For us it really depends on the position. I told DH I hate that it bothers me b/c it makes me dread it:rolleyes:
Ceaser- you sounds like your next and ready to go! I'm measuring big too. I thought I didnt look that big but EVERYONE is commenting on how I look like I could drop him out any day. I still have 4.5 weeks;) hopefully less though. I miss you belly shots:)
Katie- yeah on a good appt!
me- I'm still tired but making it through the day with 2 crazy boys!
QOTD- Birth announcements- I think I know what I want but I wont address them yet. I'll wait to order them. Plus I have everyones address on my comp so I'll just print them out on labels

Katie - Good luck with your feet, your posting cracked me up!
Caesar - I am so glad you posted that about being closed up tight and going into labor the same night because I made no progress this week. Hope you go into labor close to your EDD!
Jimmysgirl - Hope your DH is feeling better! I hear you on the day care situation esp. with the prices of day care in this area. I am so grateful that my job is so flexible (and that my boss actually put the idea in my head to work outside the box sort of speak to figure out a way) My biggest problem with not starting day care right away is not being able to see my DH on a regular basis. We hope to delay starting the baby in day care at least 3 months after my leave but if it works out ok then maybe 6 months. Good luck with trying to work it out. Maybe day care part time and work out your schedules accordingly (Dh or you go into work later, other leaves earlier) or see if anyone in your office has the same situation going on. The one girl at my work has a baby also and we have talked about splitting day care duties once my baby gets older (i.e. one of us works while the other babysits, we are a 24 hour facility though).
Rangerwendy - I am so excited for you to have your baby naturally! I bet it's soon.
Lisa - your shower's food looked so yummy!
LDS - Can't wait to see the pictures and so happy to hear the progress your girls are making:):)
Mel_hams - My dad was saying that it seemed as though my mom went into labor always the night after one of her visits like the dr. did something to her while she was there. Around my 12 week I had major bleeding and cramping right after an internal exam and they said they thought that was what it was from so maybe it does impact it. Hope the BH subside!
Yah for everyone who made progress!
Announcements - We picked one out but haven't ordered the envelopes yet. I have all our addresses saved on he computer though so I may just use labels! Anyone want to share the ones they picked out. Ours is

Yeah for everyone who is getting closer: Ceasarbride, Rangerwendy, Momma O, Mel (maybe you'll be soon too)!
Kym: Hopefully baby girl stays put until DH gets better.
Michelle: Good to hear that things are going well for you and your family!
Lisa: I don't know how you do it, I am tired and only have to look after myself.
Birth Announcements: I am going to order the ones from Walgreens and I won't have the envelopes until after the order comes back. So I am planning on printing out address labels before the baby so that they will be easier to send out after.
I am not planning on buying the hospital photos - they are soooo expensive at our hospital. Plus everyone I know will be taking a million pictures anyways.
Me: I really have been sad lately over the baby being transverse. I have been trying the "home remedies" to get the baby to turn but I think it is still sideways. This is all I think about all day long and I get so disappointed that I might miss out on a birth and have to schedule a c-section. I won't get to wait for labor and obsess over whether or not its time, instead I would just have a date to show up at the hospital. We had our hospital tour the other night and instead of being excited over it, all I could think about how none of the labor part might not apply to me. When our group went into the birthing rooms it took everything I had not to cry. Please send turning vibes mine and the baby's way!

j2478- I felt the exact same way. . .and I had NO idea before the u/s whether or not she had turned. One day I was convinced she had, one day I was convinced she was in the same transverse position. I really could not tell. Other than the exercises, I had lots of "conversations" with baby about how nice it would be if she could go head down. Sounds silly, but it cannot hurt. It is definitely positive thinking.
LDS- congratulations. Cannot wait to see pics of your beautiful girls!
QOTD- Birth announcements- I am going to make my own, I think. But I also have a few websites on standby just in case that doesn't work out. We have all the addresses in a spreadsheet so printing labels should be easy. If I have time, I'll get them printed ahead of time.
Jimmysgirl and Mel- I read in one of my pregnancy updates that at this point it is really common for baby to settle in on some of your nerves---causing that type of pain. Hoping the babies shift for you into a more comfortable spot.
I had lots of contractions yesterday but not too many today. Nothing regular yet.

Birth Announcements - I can't do anything yet because I plan on taking her to JCP for portraits soon after birth. I took Landen at 12 days old and then ordered adorable picture announcements through them. I skipped buying the hospital pics since they never turn out that good anyway. I just printed one for a keepsake.
LDS - Wow, I still can't believe you have your girls already!

Well ladies, its official..I'm now scared to death and literally feel like a ticking time bomb. Had my u/s and OB appointments today. First I will say that while the tech wasn't able to get a 100% clear shot of baby's gender thanks to her little hand being in the way, she did move in such a way towards the end that we were able to see the labia. Even my mother was able to pick it out in the picture they printed of it for me, so I do feel more comfortable with it than I did before.
So..during the u/s, I kept looking at the baby and thinking she looked big. I even commented on it a few times and the tech said not to worry, they would let me know at the end how much she weighed. HA!! Little was I prepared for the moment when they told me that she was measuring 8.3 pounds!!! :eek: At 36 weeks!! I know my eyes must have gotten as big as saucers. So, they sent me out to the waiting room to wait for their report so I could take it to my doctor's appointment with me. About five minutes later, here comes the tech, asking me to come back to the u/s room again because she needs a few more pictures of the fluid levels. She gets what she needs and comments that fluid level is high and they are going to fax the report up to my doctor immediately as my appointment was about five minutes away at that point.
I got up to my doctor's office (she's in the same building) and got undressed as she would be doing the Group B strep swab and an internal to check for progress. She walked into the room and I knew immediately by the look on her face that she was concerned. She basically said two things; one is that the baby is on track to weigh well over 10 pounds if I go full term and that she felt 100% sure that I would be unable to vaginally birth a baby of that size. The second thing is that my fluid levels were measuring very high. High enough that they are sending me back next Thursday for another u/s to check the levels again. One of the two things will happen at that point. If the levels are still as high as they are right now, she will want to do an almost immediate induction or c-section, probably that same day. She is hoping that maybe the size of the baby was making the fluid levels appear higher than they really are and that the next u/s will show that. If the levels are okay, she will then be sending me for another u/s the following week (at 38 weeks) to check the size of the baby. If the baby is at that time measuring anything bigger than 10 pounds, she wants to do a planned c-section. If the baby is not measuring at that weight, she will leave it up to me to do an elective c-section but told me she really feels that I will have a very difficult time delivering a baby that weighs anything over 7.5 pounds.
So there you have it. We could (I emphasize the word "could" here) end up with our baby sometime late next week depending on what the next u/s shows with my fluid levels. If not, I guess we'll see, but its possible I might have to make a decision on an elective c-section depending on the baby's size. My OB has been wonderful through this entire pregnancy, and I trust her 100%, so her opinion that I could have a very difficult and possibly unsuccessful vaginal birth makes me lean towards c-section right off of the bat.
Oh, a few more things. I am measuring at 38 weeks now according to doc's little measuring tape. I did not gain any weight at all in the past two weeks. And I'm not dilated but am thinning.
I think thats all for now!

Wow Kym! Thats a lot to take in....hoepfully when you go back the fluid levels are ok and that is what is making them think she is so big. Dont trust the u/s too much my friend was told by her ultrasound that her baby would be at least 9 lbs, and she had a 6lb baby girl...so they are not an exact science...Glad you feel comfy with your OB...and I too would have the same feeling about doing the c-section if its what my doc reccomended. Good luck girlie...keep us posted...
I have been having random cramping pains on my lower left side, anyone know if that means anything? Also having some lower back pain but that coudl just be me from doing too much today...
These are the annoucements we have picked out if anyone is interested...

Kym...hopefully everything will turn out okay at the next appointment. I agree with polkadot that the US measurments aren't always right. My sil was told her boy was about 9 pounds...she had a scheduled cs and he was hardly 7lbs. So hopefully your next us will show less fluid and a smaller lil' girl.
Polkadot...very cute announcement! I don't even know where to start for announcements...I think i'm' going to be one of those moms that get the birth announcements out three months later. :o
Me...my appointment went well. I am dialated 1 cm and the boy is at station 0. I really want him to wait 16 more days...I'm really hoping for 07/07/07.
kym-I agree with polk and Brown. they arent always the best. I know they are off alot. Hope all is well at the next appt
Polk- cute announcements! I think I'm going to do something similar so I can include all the boys in one pic
Brown- yeah on a good appt. 7.7.07 huh? I wanted that date too then I realized its MIL b-day and I want little man to have his own day. Ethan wants him to come on the 4th! 4 year olds:p

I have been told this as well as far as u/s being not 100% accurate. But...I went to the Perinatal Center at St Joe's, which basically specializes in this kind of stuff. I know that really doesn't mean much, but the other factor is that once the technician performing the u/s realized what the measurements were showing, she brought in another tech who went through the entire scan again to double-check all of her measurements. And then they brought me back in after I was all done to triple-check the fluid levels. I just don't know what to think at this point. :( But at least they are going to keep checking to make sure they were right to begin with and hopefully next Thursday the u/s will be normal as far as the fluid levels go.

Kym Hang in there, girl. You are so close to holding your little one. So close. You've had a ton dropped in your lap. Fluid levels. Size. Inability to deliver a large baby. That IS a ton. Try and focus more on the end result, holding baby girl, rather than how you get there. You and DH need to look at the facts and determine your comfort level and make a decision and not apologize to others who may disagree with you. The goal? Getting you and baby girl home safetly. Period. There are likely 100 different ways to get there but only one path will be uniquely yours. Hang in there! I so very much look forward to hearing future updates on you and baby girl!

MommaO Thank you so much for your kind words! I must be very emotional/hormonal today because I got all teary-eyed reading your post. :o You are right, it absolutely is alot to have dumped on you all at once. I told DH last night that I felt completely overwhelmed with everything that happened and all that was explained to us. I was in bed by 9pm; totally exhausted. Thanks again, I took alot of comfort in what you had to say!
Katie&Micah Your post reminded me that I forgot to mention that baby is in the head-down position for me. And she is SO low! Her head is waaaay down against my cervix, I really couldn't believe how low on my pelvis the technician had to go to get shots of her head! Oh, and baby girl has hair! :D The sonogram picked it up with no problem and its the first thing the technician told us.
Lisa Keeping my fingers crossed for you that you won't be the last one to have your baby. And I'm sending more {{labor vibes}} your way!
DH woke up around 2 am last night with his fever raging anew. It was 103.7. :( I'm really getting scared that this is something serious. And now with the possibility of baby coming early, DH and I are both scared that he won't be well when she is born. And how awful would that be? {{sigh}}...when it rains, it friggin' pours, KWIM??

Lisa - OMG! I was just going to say Im right there with you thinking the baby will never come, but then you posted that you were going to the hospital! Goodluck!
Kym - Praying for DH!
Anyone else in denial that there really is a baby coming in a few weeks?! I think it may be a 2nd child thing. Im soo busy with my son and the regular little routine we have going, that I seriously can't imagine having another baby! Everyone keeps asking me if Im excited or telling me how close I am, but seriously it still doesn't seem real! I'm not in any hurry either. I really don't think I'm ready for 2 kids yet and also I don't want it to be here and gone soo quickly if that makes sense.
Also, here is the pic we used for Landen's announcements:

Ok this turned out really really long!!
Monday, June 18th, 2007
Around 4 when Aaron got home, we went to lay down for awhile and maybe try to nap. We were just relaxing and chatting (I wish I could remember exactly what we were talking about) when we heard a really strange 'pop' sound. I felt something that almost felt like a really hard kick, really low down. We stopped mid-sentence and Aaron asked me what the noise was. I said I wasen't sure, but it kind of hurt. Then it dawned on me, (Aaron says my eyes went wide) and I jumped up out of bed, sure enough there was a gush of fluid as I got up. I said something like, Oh my gosh, well, here we go. We started rushing around like crazy people throwing things in our bags which luckily were 95% packed. I remember glacing at the clock and it was 5:03. I was annoyed that my OB's office had just closed. We called the hospital first. They said to go ahead and come in, but to call my Dr on the way. So we called the answering service and got ahold of Dr Bayram who was the on-call for the practice that night. He said he'd meet us at the hospital. I was a little confused as to what to do with my messy, leaking self. I ended up putting on a pad and a pair of PJ bottoms and grabbing a towel to sit on in the car.
We got in the car and headed over. We pulled in, and Aaron ran up and got a wheelchair for me. We headed to the Birthing Center.I thought we'd be rushed into a room right away, but everyone was really casual about the whole thing. It really wasen't long though, and they brought us back into one of the little triage rooms. We got hooked up to the monitor. I had started having some pretty un-fun contractions on the way over. They started asking me all of the standard questions. They did an ultrasound to check thier positions, and confirmed that we'd be headed for a c-section, as Baby A's butt was on my cervix. There was some confusion though, they weren't 100% sure my water had broken since it looked like she still had plenty of fluid. It didn't take that long to figure out though, as I was still leaking quite a bit. They did a quick test and confirmed that it was indeed amniotic fluid. That was the moment that made it 'official', we were going to have babies that night.
They got my IV started, which turned out to be probably the most painful part of the whole thing.Took three tries, which is abnormal for me. And when she finally got it in, she caused me to pretty much spew blood everywhere. They told us the c-section would probably get started around 7:30, so at that point we had about an hour to wait. They were waiting on some result from my bloodwork for some reason. We called our famlies again to let them know it was for real and we had a time. Pretty much everyone said they would head over. The contractions had really started to pick up and I was super uncomfortable, so I was really really happy things were moving so quickly. That last hour passed really fast. Aaron got his scrubs on and then my Mom showed up just in time to come see me for a minute before they wheeled me off to the OR.
They wheeled me in and I climbed over onto the edge of the table to get the spinal. It was WAY easier than the first one I had when they did my cerclage. I felt the coldness from the cleaning, and a bit of pressure, but it seemed like it was over super fast. They laid me down quick and Dr. Bayram started cleaning my belly. I asked for Aaron, they said it would be just a few more minutes, they wanted to make sure the spinal was working. They gave me oxygen, put the screens up, and strapped in my arms. Then they finally let Aaron in.
I'm pretty sure by that point they had already gotten started. Aaron sat up next to my head on my left. I mostly looked right in his eyes the whole time. He stroked my hair and we whispered I Love You's. It was actually a very nice, calm moment with my husband. It seemed like things were taking a long time, but I'm sure it was only a few minutes. I didn't feel a thing, no tugging, pressure, nothing. Until they said they were pulling out Baby A. Then I felt a few little pulls. We heard a few gurgles and then a good strong cry. Tears sprang to my eyes, the utter joy at that sound is beyond words. Aaron poked his head over the curtain and saw them cut her cord. Almost right after, they got Baby B out. She gurgled a little too, but no strong cry like her sister. I know somewhere in the back of my head I knew something was wrong, but I still felt so amazingly calm. Aaron sat back down and we just looked at eachother.
Here's the official stats:
Baby A- Megan Celeste, 8:04pm. 3 pounds, 14.8 ounces, 17.25 inches
Baby B- Natalie Grace, 8:05pm, 4 pounds, 4.9 ounces, 16.75 inches
They kept both babies right there in the OR for a little while. We could hear Baby A crying away. They didn't really tell us much at the time, but Baby B was having a decent amount of trouble getting her breath. Aaron said he could tell something was up because she had four people crowded around working on her.
They swaddled them up and brought them over so I could see them real quick. The nurse held them right against my cheek and I'll never forget how soft and warm their skin felt against mine. I'm really glad Aaron was smart enough to snap these two pics- I thnk they are my favorite ones so far:
Megan

Natalie

They snuggled them together in an isolette and it was off to the nursery. Aaron stayed with me, since even though Natalie was having a few issues, they were mostly ok and not in any immediate danger. I'm really really really glad he stayed with me. I just continued to stare at each other and mumble things about how amazing all of that just was.
Dr. Bayram was still working on putting me back together, and he started chatting with us. He asked what their names were, and I said, one is Natalie and one is Megan, but I'm not sure which is which yet. He suggested Baby A should be Megan, just because M comes before N. We ended up going with his suggestion, as I couldn't think of a better way to decide.
They finished up with the c-section, and swung my legs up into sturrips to remove the cerclage. Very quick and simple. He held it up and showed it to us, which I thought was hilarious. They put my legs back down and took down the screens. I had that, WHOA, no more huge belly! moment. They got me on a bed and wheeled me out to my room, and Aaron went to talk to our familes.
No one was allowed in to see me for an hour, which was fine by me. Apprently my Mom was a little upset by that though. I was feeling ok, just tired and maybe a little out of it. And THIRSTY. Luckliy as soon as I got to my room they let me have some ice. I just laid there and rested and the nurse hung out with me and got my wonderful patient-controlled morphine pump set up. Then she gave me a quick sponge bath and a fresh gown, which I thought was really nice. Finally they let our families in. There was a lot of everyone talking at the same time, and I felt a little confused at times. I don't remember much of what was said. I think it was around 10:30 by now. They told us to call down to the nursery at 11 and see how the girls were and find out if they would let us visit. Most of our visitors left.
My mom, dad, stepmom, and sister waited with us until 11. We found out how the girls were doing. Megan was doing very well and breathing just fine on her own. Natalie was still having trouble, so they had to intubate her. Aaron was able to take the grandparents down to see them. I couldn't go because my legs were still way numb and there was no way I was getting out of bed. And my sister had to stay with me because only parents and grandparents are allowed.
They didn't visit for long, Aaron came back with a few pictures the nurses had taken:

I was so amazed and happy to see them. They had (a little) hair! And for the most part they looked big and healthy. A lot alike, and a LOT like their daddy. The rest of the visitors left, it was close to midnight by now. We tried to sleep for awhile, but between not being comfortable and still having a bunch of adrenaline left, it was pretty impossible. At 3 the nurse came in to do my vitals and stuff, and I was dying to go see my girls, so I somehow got myself out of bed and into a wheelchair. I thought I was going to feel a little more scared or freaked out to see them with all the tubes and wires and stuff, but just as I had been the whole night, I was amazingly calm. I knew deep down they would be ok. We didn't stay long, but I did at least get to touch them both, and tell them I loved them.
Since that was such a huge post, I'll come back in a bit and do another about how they are doing now.

Here's how they are doing now-
Megan is doing very well. She was having a lot of issues with spitting up after feeding, but she's starting to do it less and less. Really she just needs to start consistantly gaining weight for a while.
Natalie is very much imprpved. After spitting out the vent on Wednesday, they put her in an oxygen tent and had been slowly decreasing the percentage. This afternoon they took her out and she is doing just fine on room air. Now she has to be weaned off the feeding tube which may take a few days.
Overall, they are both doing really really well. Hopefully Monday I can talk to their dr and get some idea on when they might get to come home.
I'm doing pretty well myself. As long as I keep up on my pain meds, I can get around just fine. Pumping had been very frustrating, but is getting better.
Thanks everyone for the comments on my girls. Here's a pic from yesterday- the first time I got to hold them together. (That's Natalie on the right with the oxygen blowing in her face.)

My DH also said your babies are so cute and to pass along his congrats! I have heard that it is usual for the milk to take a while so stick with it (I read somewhere that sometimes babies only get a few teaspoons the first few days at each feeding so I imagine with pumping it may be even more difficult to get a lot out) :)

alliannie Jeez, 6:30 on a Sunday to be at work? YUCK!! You poor thing! Try and keep your feet up as much as you can. Trust me, I speak from experience. Like Katie&Micah, I've got the MM syndrome too. :rolleyes: These days, they are so swollen that they are actually tender to the touch and sometimes downright painful. Not fun.
cosmogirl and rangerwendy Thinking of you both and hoping you both have your babies in your arms by now.
Well, today was get prepared for baby day, as tomorrow will be. I'm on something like my 6th load of laundry. Still sorting stuff out and trying to find a place for everything. There is so much of it!! I just can't get over the sheer volume of clothes, blankets, bedding, burp cloths, bibs, tolietries, etc. Its really overwhelming. DH took over the kitchen and sterlized all of the bottles and nipples for when we are ready to introduce breastmilk by bottle for baby. He did a great job. But I swear, I literally started having panic attacks every time I looked around at our apartment; it just seemed like everywhere I looked, in every room, there was something that HAS to be done before baby comes home. Its so frustrating and now I feel like we are on a much more stringent timetable to get it all done because of whats going on with my fluid levels and all that. Well, guess we just have to keep on plugging away and getting things done one by one, which is really all we can do. On the plus side, DH's fever has stayed down all day today, with no medicine to help control it, which is good. I hope it stays that way!
Our professional maternity pictures were delivered last night! :D:D I think they are really spectacular, but I guess I'm biased! Anyway, I haven't had a chance to get them onto Photobucket yet, so I can't post any here in the thread, but I will. In the meantime, here is a link to the Kodak album that DH downloaded them to. Its my sister in some of the pics in case anyone is curious. Our photographer did many of them in black and white, but he told us we can get any of them done in color, or any of the colored ones in black and white. He is really, really talented and a great person to work with as well. I am so happy that we spent the money on them. Let me know which ones are your favorites! And I'll be back to post a few here too once I get them downloaded.

I'm here and still have baby inside!! But I am becoming an expert at L&D. I got sent there again yesterday! I was at work and kept getting blurry vision and seeing spots and becoming disoriented and had a horrible headache. I finally called and they said come in..now. They thought it was my blood pressure but it ended up being that I am dehydrated. I was in shock! So I have like doubled my water intake and I feel better and am feeling baby Blake move way more than I was. When I first arrived he was barely moving and as they made me drink more and more water he moved more and more. Lesson for everyone--DRINK LOTS OF FLUIDS!! She said this far along, in summer, almost term you should drink an ounce for each pound you way.
Kym-Your pictures are wonderful! I looked at them yesterday but didn't post do to my crazy day. I love the ones with the heart on your belly!! Yeah for last day of work this week!

Natalie really loves to suck, so until she can get more bottle feeds, her binky is her best friend. Notice how big it looks, helps you see how small she really is.

Michelle-I love the pics!!! You can see how small they are compared to that binky. But still adorable. Did you get any idea when they might get to come hom yet?
Lisa-Glad your appt was good!
michelle, your girls are beautiful! I love the pics it makes me even more excited for my little man to come!

Weight gain...forgot to mention this earlier. So after months of steadily gaining five pounds or more at each weigh-in at the doctor's, my weight gain dramatically slowed down. In seven weeks I've gained just three pounds total! Whats up with that? I did it backwards, gained it all in the beginning and for some reason aren't gaining it now??? Strange... :confused:
LDS Okay, those pics are too precious! I can't get over the one of Natalie with her binky, you are 100% right, it shows how small she really is! They are beautiful babies and I hope you will get a coming-home date for them soon!
alliannie Sorry about your recent L&D trip! It is super important to stay hydrated now, my OB harps on that all of the time. But I've been a big water drinker all along, so that is not much of an issue for me. I hope you are feeling better now!
Lisa Darn..I was hoping my labor vibes worked for you! ;) Hope things get started for you soon!
I'm not sure how concerned I should be...I am feeling baby today, but nowhere near as much as I'm used to feeling her. How long should I go before I call my OB? I hate to keep hitting the panic button, so to speak, but I am worried and its getting harder to concentrate on work because I'm concentrating on feeling the baby. :(

Oh my goodness!!! I just spent 10 mins writing out a huge post and it didn't go through!!!!
The short version..
Kym.. love the pic where you're laying down on your back.
Michelle.. the girls are beautiful, dont' stop posting pics please!
Everyone with swelling.. so sorry and hope it goes down soon. Mine has been pretty good the past 2 days.
Me.. had very high blood pressure over the weekend and it's still higher than normal for me. I put a call into the dr's office and a nurse from a diff. office was filling in. I finally get a call back from her and she doesn't give a crap. Just told me that I already have high blood pressure so what am I worrying about? Umm.. my normal bp is around 130/80. This weekend it was 174/98. I see that as being drastically different. I have been feeling badly.. headaches and nauseau. But she honestly didnt' care. Just told me to call the hospital if it happened again on the weekend or I could call them during the week and let them know. She better hope she's not there when I go in on Thursday because if protein shows up in my urine she's gonna get an earful from me. And even if she's not there I"m going to say something to the dr. about her. Grrr.. I'm pretty pissed off that she basically made it seem like I was bugging her. This is the only time I've called during the entire pregnancy and I never take up extra time at the appointments. I've tried to be very considerate. Not anymore. I'll be taking my time and calling them whenever I have the tiniest question.

Eat something and I was told to drink milk. Then try to just sit and I bet she will get moving! Remember even the smallest movements count. Mine has been quiet most of the morning but he was up most the night having fun:p He's giving me a show of what I have in a few weeks, a night owl;)
I'll be taking my time and calling them whenever I have the tiniest question.
I would, she's getting paid to help you!!! and I say if you still feel uncomfortable I call and call until you get an answer that makes you feel comfortable. Sorry she was such a jerk. We're moms and I know I get nervous about everything and she should have been more compassionate!

Katie Having high blood pressure is one of the things we are all supposed to be on the lookout for, so I certainly don't feel like your phone call was out of line. I would be just as pissed off as you are right now if I had gotten that response. Also, if it stays high, please go to the hospital. Something could be wrong and this nurse isn't helping matters by blowing off your concern like its nothing. I hate people like that! :mad: If its eclampsyia (sp??), then it can be dangerous very quickly if not treated, as you well know.

Thanks you all.
I'm going to check it when I get home in about an hour. If it's up I'll be calling back and bugging the heck out of her until she either lets me speak to the dr. or tells me to come in. I'm definitely worrying about pre-eclampsia and have been watching out for all the symptoms. I'm feeling pretty normal at the moment. But we will see.

Katie-How rude of her to be like that! This far along in pregnancy blood pressure is more important than ever--even if it has been high. If I was you I would have called L&D to see what they said. I think you need to smack her when you see her Thursday:D. They had me come in just because they thought that *might* be the problem. If it was I don't think they would have let me leave. If it gets high again I would bypass her.
Kym-Yesterday when I was at the hospital she told me at least 5 movements an hour. And Lisa is right can EVERY moment no matter how little. Let us know if she starts wiggling around!! I have also heard it is normal to gain less in the end of pregnancy for some people! No need to feel strange. I am gaining it all now though. I was still below my pre pregnancy weight until my last appt at which I had gained 4 lbs:p. So now I am up about 20 lbs from my lowest point and 3 from my pre pregnancy weight!

Katie - I hope your bp goes back down. I agree with everone else go in if it stays up there.
Annie - Over the weekend my eyes did the same thing. I just thought something was up with my contacts or going in and out of shops (bright sunlight to darkness) I went home and just took out the contacts and relaxed for a while. Good to know that it has to do with dehydration. I usually drink tons of H2O so fortunately the seeing blotches stopped quickly after getting home.
Kym - My weight has tapered off also. It is strange to see my belly expand so much but the weight to remain the same.
Michelle - The pictures are so cute, keep posting them please.
Lisa - Glad your appt. went well
Me - I am busy at work so I thought I would take a little break. The swelling on my feet has gone down a little bit, yea! Thanks to sleeping with them propped all night long. I am so ready to be done with work but I still have tons of things that need to be finished before my baby can be born!

LDS- I LOVE the pictures you post!! Don't stop! Yes, the paci really shows how small the girls are! They are beautiful! Please do update us on when you might be able to bring them home. Also, how long do you have to drive to get to the hospital? It must be hard to be home and not have the girls with you. I am thankful that I am only about 15 minutes from the hospital.
jimmysgirl- your pictures are great. I looked at them on the link yesterday, just didn't have time to post!
Me- my little monster is still happily growing inside! He is breech (as of today, two weeks ago he was head-down). We will see what happens. The doctor really didn't say too much to me (it was a specialist) but he did say that the placenta is low and in front. He didn't say if it is covering the cervix or not. I don't know if they will have the paperwork to my doctors office by tomorrow or not. Anyways, I go to the doctor (ob) tomorrow. I am sure that I gained a TON of weight... I ate very well this weekend!! it was our anniversary, so we grilled one night and then went out the the Cheesecake Factory. Needless to say, I needed to be rolled out of there!! LOL I am scared to get on the scale tomorrow! LOL
Oh, and they are saying that that baby is 7lbs 5 oz (36 weeks tomorrow!) The doctor said it will be another 9lber!!! YIKES. Hopefully not, since this baby is coming 2 weeks earlier than DS1 did!!!
I also found out that my boss is giving me 2 days of vacation next week! That means only one full week of work after that!! HOLY CRAP!!! I can't believe July is less than a week away!!!
Hope everyone is well!
BTW- ceaser any new belly shots???
Twainny- how big was DS? both of mine were 9lbs and I'm scared I'll have another 9lber! BTW cheesecake factory is the best!!!:D

Checking in.... I am way behind again.
I had my 37 week doctor's appointment last Thursday - apparently I am the only one that is gaining weight like crazy at the end.... I was up 10 pounds from my appointment at 34 weeks!!!! I don't feel like I am eating any more than I was before, so I don't know what's up with that. I am definitely starting to swell more however. My blood pressure was also up (140/72), but the doctor wasn't concerned b/c my urine checks have always come back clear and I don't have any other warning signs (abdominal pain, blurred vision, etc.). But I wasn't happy about it. Had an ultrasound and baby is still head down. Yay! My doctor is a bit concerned that I have a "small pelvis" and she said baby was between 7 and 7 1/2 pounds. (Though DH and I couldn't remember whether that was a current estimate or a prediction of the birth weight). Either way, I want to try a vaginal birth no matter what, so that is the route we will go.
No time for detailed shout-outs, but I did want to make some quick comments:
Kym Great pro pics. Again, makes me want to get them done myself. I love the black and white.
Michelle Your daughters are precious. The picture with the paci is really amazing to see how small they really are. I hope that they can go home soon!

Sorry I haven't been around, but I have been super busy with my new little girl, Audrey Ruth!!:D
Just a real quick recap and I'll try to post more later. We decided to go ahead with the induction, so we went in Thursday night and they hooked me up the monitors and, low and bhold, I was already having contractions, unbeknownst to me. They were not regular, so they just gave me Ambien to help me sleep and Cervadil to get me cervix softened. They started Pitocin at 6:00 a.m. and my water broke at 7:00. They took me off Pitocin at 7 because my body immediately took off on it's own after my water broke. Audrey was born at 12:35 p.m., so I went from 1cm dilated to birth in about 6 and half hours. Super fast!! And she would have been born about 15 minutes earlier but my dr. was in surgery with another patient and I wasn't allowed to push!!!!:eek::eek: I could tell the nurse was getting nervous. She kept calling for my dr every minute because this baby was coming and there was no stopping her!! And let me tell you, not pushing is way harder than the actual pushing was. My dr. walked in the room and 2 pushes later, Audrey was born. She swallowed a lot of amniotic fluid and blood on her way out so she turned blue and they had to really work on her to clear out her stomach and lungs, but it only took a few minutes and everything is fine. Hearing that first cry was such a relief. She was 8lbs, 2 oz. and 20 inches long with a full head of dark brown hair and just perfect in every way!! I'll post more later but I just wanted everyone to know we are all doing fine. We are home and getting into the swing of things. I'll post more later when I find time. I'm not sure when that will ever be, but I will find it. Thanks for all the good thoughts for me while I was "away".

Michelle your girls are just adorable! Tiny tiny tiny as evident by the binky pics but omg are they cute!?!?!
Kym You've got to be pleased w/ the pics. You have a great bunch to pick from, for sure.
wendy Congrats on your little GIRL. How awesome that your labor went so rapidly, way to go! I too had the "pleasure" of having to wait to push b/c of the Dr b/c with Landon I went from 5-10 cm in less than an hour and it was the middle of the night. OMG, that was the worst!!! I'm sorry that you had a few scary moments but so pleased that she's doing well. Take care of you!
the rest of the crew we're getting there! :) so fun to be reading everyone's experiences as the weeks (days?) wind down
Me? I enjoyed my first day of maternity leave today. That's not to say I didn't work. My Mom came over and we busted our butts cleaning up and Mom organized the nursery a bit more. She just HATED having to play w/ the onesies :rolleyes: My goal for tomorrow is grocery shopping and maybe a bit of cooking to get some things in the freezer or maybe that will wait until Wednesday but really that's the last of it that I "have" to do. Now, we wait. I'm getting anxious. Next appt is on Friday.

LDS - Beautiful birth story! I wondered what led to their birth. I will be soo shocked if my water breaks this time. I hadn't even really thought about it! They are adorable little girls! Congratulations!
~~~~~~~~~
Me - I'm 37 weeks today. I have my OB appt. tomorrow at 1:30p. They are checking position via u/s so that should be fun. I'm pretty positive shes head down though. Hopefully, she will skip the internal. There's no point. We are finally going to discuss my birth plan too. I guess I should fill it out! ;) Still hoping for a VBAC but we shall see if I go into labor this time or not.
Wendy- congrats!!! I'm sure she is just beautful! I agree not pushing so so much worse than pushing. Can you post her stats so I can add them to the
1st page. If you dont mind. Congrats again!!!
kazata- I gained a lot like you with my first. I guess everyone is different. yeah on babys head down!
MommaO- cool about your leave! Mom's are funny arent they? Hope you get all you want done.
DanaLand- Hope your appt goes well!
me- both boys are on day 3 of swim lessons. Its been cool to see them get better. They both get tubes in on Friday. Pray for us. I'm nervous eventhough Ethan has already had them:(
We are going to the beach later. I know what a productive thing for a preggo who has too much to do, do.
I wasnt going to my small bible study tonight but I got an email saying they had a surprise for me and to please stop by. They even ordered food. I love them they are all so sweet. I post tomorrow how it was. Okay Its breakfast for the boys! Have a great day!
What kind of meals are you all making?
I'm here - I'm here! Just way behind on SO's and I can't see pics - so I can't comment - so I haven't posted :( I'm 38 weeks today but I'm predicting 'peanut" won't be making an appearance for another 3 weeks or so - I am definitely not off having a baby :)
I'll be back later to catch up on SO's - I promise.
For now - WENDY AND LDS - CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR BABY GIRLS!
So exciting - thanks for sharing your wonderful birth stories!
I'll be back later - just didn't want anyone to think I was gone ... I was closed and posterior at my appt last Wednesday and nothing's going on, so like I said, I'll be here for a while ... just trying to finish up my last week in the office!
RangerWendy- congrats on Audrey Ruth! I can't wait to hear more.
Kym- great pics. A nice treasure to have of your first pregnancy.
michelle- i love the pics---so please keep posting! Your girls are beautiful.
danaland- fingers crossed she is head down so that you can try for that VBAC
katie- hope your blood pressure has gone down a bit and that you are feeling alright.
hope everyone else is doing well. July is just around the corner!
me- had another appt. yesterday- no progress. Little girl is quite content where she is at the moment. I think she's just holding out for a July birthday (mommy and daddy are both July babies). We'll see what happens. If she is still hanging out at 40 weeks, then we go for an NST just to be sure she and the placenta are still okay. He won't let me go past 2 weeks overdue---and would prefer she arrive before then. He's estimating she's around 8 lbs so I guess the longer we wait, the bigger she gets! I'm hoping she's just taking her time like she has for everything else and arrives sometime next week. . . on her own.
Congratulations!!! It sounds like you had a pretty good labor!!
Just like everyone else... I feel like I have not enough time/energy for so's. Just know that I'm reading along and thinking of everyone!
My bp yesterday was pretty good. I was off of work so I just relaxed/napped most of the day which was nice and I think helped. We'll see how today goes. I just read kazata's post and realized that abdominal pain was a symptom of pre-eclampsia. I dont' know how I didn't know that. But I've been having it quite frequently lately. Yet another thing to mention to the dr. I'm just not sure why it was so high and then went down to an acceptable range. For once I can't wait for my dr's appt. on thursday just to confirm that everything is ok!!
Hi everyone! I am still here reading along. I was away this weekend - my parents do not have internet and got back last night, so I was way behind.
Congrats Wendy!
I feel like I am too far behind for SO's, but I have read everything that has been posted in the past few days!
I have an u/s tomorrow morning to determine the position of the baby (has been transverse for about a month now). I think the baby has definitly turned - hopefully head down. I have been feeling so much pressure down there over the past couple of days. It feels like the baby is going to fall out. Last night I had a horrible night sleeping, I felt so much stretching and pulling in my lower abdomen. I think the baby is moving down, I'm going to ask about it at my appt tomorrow. Other people have been commenting to that my belly looks less wide, so hopefully s/he is not sideways anymore.
Hope everyone has a good day!
from June mommies thread!
We are finally back from the hospital, and yes, it was it.
I am glad to announce the birth of our beautiful baby girl named Mathilde Zoe She is a delight, and we love her already so much!
She was born June 22 at 22:22. She is 6 lb, 12 oz, and mesures 20,5 inches. Be back later for the details of my 2 hours labor process (!)
Lisa Thanks for commenting about the weight gain - it makes me feel better that at least somebody else gained weight at the end, even if it was your previous pregnancy! I just feel like it's so much so fast lately.
Katie I hope I didn't worry you too much...I'm glad that your blood pressure is back down though. I think blood pressure can really fluctuate a lot, so one high reading isn't a worry in and of itself, but it's definitely something to keep an eye on. I guess we are all focused on the dreaded preeclampsia (I worry about my rapid weight gain lately being a sign for that too). Honestly, I can't remember now whether the doctor asked me about abdominal pain or chest pain - I thought she said abdominal, but she pointed more up at the chest area. I didn't know that was a risk factor until my last appointment either though. Have your urine checks always come back clear? Because it seemed like that was what my doc was most concerned with.
Rangerwendy Congrats on your girl!!!!!!
Danalland Here's hoping for a VBAC!
j2478 Hope baby is head down now! Sounds promising though.
Thanks for all the good VBAC wishes! I really can't imagine having a successful vaginal birth after everything that happened last time but I'm excited that it COULD happen.
My appt went pretty good today. I'm 37w1d. My BP was nice and low at 108/67! :D I was glad because last time it was a tad higher than normal and I had a lot of swelling. Surprisingly, my swelling has went down considerably in my feet and ankles since last week too. She was supposed to check position today but she said we'd just do it next week. She's always kinda in a hurry. However, we did FINALLY have the "birth talk!" She's been putting that off forever, which led me to believe she wasn't very pro-VBAC, but she actually pointed out a lot of negatives of an csection today, which surprised me because it had seemed like she would have rather had me just choose an ERC. So that made me feel better. She said I have a greater risk of an episiotomy with a larger baby and then she asked how big LC was. I told her he was 9lbs but 2 weeks late and she said "well you are well on your way now! That doesn't look like a small baby." LOL! I wore a pretty tight shirt and my belly does look pretty huge! She didn't feel my belly or even measure this time though so I know she could be totally off. ;) I really hope she's not 9lbs by birth, or more! She said my chances of VBAC are less with a larger baby too, so she changed my odds to only 33%, from 60% but I know she's just guessing, and thats pretty much the odds I have in my head anyway. I told her that if I go into labor I just plan on rolling with it and giving it a shot, if I go over and don't want to be induced or the induction fails I realize I'm headed for another Csection. It won't be a big shocker this time. I told her I wanted to avoid an induction, but its good to know that it IS an option before a csection, and she would let me go up to 10 days late.
My next appt is Monday at 11:30a. She should check position that day. Then she will probably check her weight at the next appt, 39 weeks. Exciting!
I am here and I am blonde again :) Boy, was that expensive! I was blonde growing up but my hair goes to brown now (especially in the winter). I saw a pic recently where it was really dark and decided since there will hopefully be lots of pics after baby is born - I don't want to look back and think about how bad I looked - so, I got my hair highlighted! It's probably been a year and a half since it was highlighted so big difference - but *youch* it was more expensive than I expected. I feel like DH and I are just spending money left and right right now (b/c we are - mostly on house stuff not even baby stuff) so I feel bad doing this - but I guess not bad enough! :eek: It helps that I found a $100 bill in an old wallet of mine when cleaning this weekend so I used that for part of the bill ;) (it was highlights and a cut - I'll try and get a pic when I take my belly shot tonight)
As far as baby - at my last drs. appt (Friday) the nurse practictioner said I was closed and high. I felt like she was literally searching for my cervix so I'm not expecting progress anytime soon.
Also, those of you just starting to feel like the Michelin Man have me laughing out loud! (no offense) - It's just that I have been Michelin Woman for so long it's craxy! My feet and ankles are huge! All I can wear are sneakers which pretty much hold my feet in till I take them off and then my feet blow up too. It's kind of comical if you ask me. My BP is still good though (110/70 on Friday) - so I'm just swollen. I asked the NP if I could get signed out for swollen feet - she laughed but said no.
So, I'm in the office through the end of the next week and then "working" from home till the 13th or delivery I guess - whichever comes first!
ETA - doc appts - 39 weeks on 7/2 and 40 week on 7/10. Here's hoping I don't make it to another weekly appt after 7/10!
Ok, attempting SO's here ...
Yay Dana for a good appt! Here's hoping you won't need a repeat C!
Kazata - thanks for thinking of me - hope you're feeling good. we're only 2 days apart! I'm convinced I'm going late - though the shampoo girl today told me I am going early (like this week :eek: or early next) - and having a boy. We'll see!
CONGRATS COSMO!
Jen - sorry about the pressure but hopefully baby is head down! I have not had much pressure at all (*knock on wood *) - but I fear that just means that baby is still way high.
Katie - I think it might be the chest pain that's a sign of pre-e? A colleague mentioned having something similar with her DC. I've been having cramps and stuff (not so much this week but a few weeks ago) and my doc told me it was just my body doing what it was supposed to do.
Saw your post in the venting thread - sorry about your idiot co-worker. I have to admit that is one of my fears! (even though I know it is highly unlikely)
MommaO - lucky you on leave already! This is my last week in the office but I will be working at home through the 13th or delivery - whichever comes first! (I'm obviously hoping for delivery ;))
Kym - how are you feeling today? Saw your post in the venting thread - you need to share the full story! Sorry you are having work issues :(
Lisa - enjoy the beach and your surprise! It's so hot here - I wish I could go to the beach!
gator - I hear you on the no progress! Even though you're a week ahead of me - I have a feeling our DC is also quite content where he / she is. I'm due in 2 weeks - not expecting to meet little one before 3 weeks though.
LDS - can't wait to hear more about your girls - please keep posting pics! Can't wait till I log in from home and can actually see them!
lovelifeandlivelove - yay for the swelling going down!
twainny - Hope your appt went well today - let us know what happened!
ceaser - How are you? Hope you're feeling good!
Phew - Hope I didn't miss anyone! Hope everyone is doing well!
I am looking forward to being home next week so I can take a nap as needed! I thought that would be the case with me since I was off of school for the summer...the problem is that I cant get a good sound sleep...EVER...i am constantly tossing and turning and not sleeping very soundly...even in the middle of the day when I cant hold my eyes open...I guess its my bodys way of preparing me for when Eli arrives ;)
I took a nap after I posted but was only able to sleep for about 20-25 mins...the pressure in my bottom is really getting to me anyone else having that issue?
kazata
06-26-2007, 04:08 PM
Polka Hmmm, according to my doula when you feel pressure in your bottom and feel like you need to poop, that means the baby's head is down there and it's time to push. Have you been having contractions? ;) I bet it's just baby dropping lower into your pelvis.
Robyn Oh my goodness your list of shout-outs is making me tired and I didn't have to write them all! Good for you on getting your hair done, it may be one of your last indulgences for a while, so why not. And how nice to find a $100 bill!
Kym Got a question for you - what are your symptoms of carpal tunnel? I am wondering if that is what is going on with my hands. I wake up in the morning with my hands (especially my right) completely swollen and can barely bend my fingers. It gets a bit better throughout the day, but my right hand stays tingly/numb all day and night - it's the thumb, ring, index and middle fingers plus some of the palm of my hand. Sometimes the numbness even extends up my arm. It's getting worse by the day and is getting quite painful at night. Did you say you were wearing wrist braces? I wonder if that's something I could try...
Congratulations Cosmo and Wendy! I cannot wait to see your baby's pictures!
Caesar - Have you had your baby??!
Lisa - Good luck with the boys tubes in the ears. Hope your surprise was fun!
J2478 - It sounds like the baby is head down, the pressure was the dead give away for me, but then I had to hear it to believe it!
Kazata - When I had carpal tunnel it sounded like what you described, I bought wrist guards and kept them on for a few days constantly and it helped considerably. Mine was from typing, bartending and the biggest problem was the way I slept with my wrists and hands up by my face (bending the wrists). Try the wrist guards and hope your wrists feel better.
Me I had my last prenatal class today and it was so uncomfortable to sit there for 2 hours. My DH and I both were constantly getting up to walk around the room and/ or stand. I cannot believe that it is LESS than 3 weeks away when baby girl will be born :)
Congratulations on your babies, ladies! Where are the boys, anyway?
I've been reading along, but haven't been posting. I'm doing great, still working but my last day is Friday. A moment of terror this week because baby is due NEXT week... or any time now! eeeeek! So anxious. Thank goodness this has been an easy-going pregnancy. Only the last month has been hard.
Next appt. is tomorrow 6/27 for my 38w + 4d check up. Most likely a dilation check up too. I was kinda feeling depressed this week since my two friends who were due the same week as myself have already delivered their girls. But now I'm kinda accepting that my lil' girl may actually come on her due date 7/7/07.
Robyn: Yeah for a new hair style. I got mine cut last week (a less maintence - more mom hair cut!) I hear you on the expenses. We spent $1100 to get the air conditioner in my car fixed last week, plus just misc. baby related expenses. It seems like it never stops.
Lovelifeandlive: I also find it hard to sit still for too long. Unfortunately my office is small so there really is no where to walk around, except to the bathroom and I already make plenty of trips there.
Polka: Hopefully your doctors appt went well and you have made some progress.
Dana: Good luck with the VBAC, I will also send good vibes your way.
Where is Ceasar? Could we have another baby? Is there anyone else that hasn't checked in lately?
Me: I had my appt this morning and the baby is HEAD DOWN!!! I am so relieved, I tend to be a worrier so this is one less thing for me to worry about. The baby is measuring right at 6 pounds. She said I am measuring so average and normal that she wouldn't be surprised if I delivered on my due date. The baby has not dropped into the pelvis yet. I really think the pain and pressure I have had the last two days was the baby turning as I feel great today - back to my normal self.
Hope everyone has a good day!
j2478 Yay for baby being head down! I know what a huge relief that must be. I was worrying about baby's position for weeks and I never had any indication that baby wasn't head down, so I'm glad your babe turned for you.
lovelife Thanks, I'm pretty sure it is pregnancy induced carpal tunnel at this point. I'm going to try wrist guards, but am wondering if it will help if it has to do with pregnancy swelling as opposed to repetitive motion. Couldn't hurt though, and at this point I will try anything.
Sorry kazata, I just saw that you posted about this. I actually have swelling AND carpal tunnel syndrome at this point. The swelling is over the past few months, the carpal tunnel almost since the beginning. Sounds to me like you have both too. I wear wrist braces on both arms/hands at night but not during the day, too binding and makes it harder to function. Of course, it makes my symptoms much worse but I can't help that. It got to the point where the pain and tingling would wake me up out of a sound sleep, so I started wearing the braces at night around 19 weeks pregnant. I'm still miserable with it all.of.the.time., so I'm praying once baby is born that its all better.
I will be back later for SO's....just running around trying to get everything done that I can on the off-chance that my OB decides to deliver me this weekend. My last day at work is this Friday, BTW.
I don't know if this is a second baby thing or what, but I'm in complete DENIAL that there is a real live baby coming in a matter of days/weeks! I just continue on each day with my little guy, knowing that there is a baby in my belly, but I still can't picture myself having another baby, taking care of another baby, its crazy! I need to snap out of it and get everything done becuase we really don't have much of a plan!
Dana I'm the same way. I *KNOW* I'm days (?) away from having babe 2. I can't deny the belly or the new girly nursery or how darn tired I am but I still don't really *get* that it's really about to happen. I think it's just b/c all we know is life wiht our little Lando(e)ns, ya know? We're not sure how the girls fit into all of that. Sooner or later we won't be able to deny it any more :)
j2478 YAY for head down baby. That's a big deal. I was stressed about it too. It's a relief to be able to release that stress
jimmy's girl good luck getting things finished up at home and at work. It is definately a relief to be off of work. That said, i could use some sort of distraction :) I'm kinds of bored.
kazata hope your, potentially, carpal tunnel doesn't give you too much trouble. Late pregnancy is hard enough. To have to deal w/ that too is no fun.
bibay 07/07/07 would be a fun birthday, for sure. Your babe is safe and content and happy... keep on bakin'.
Me I'm here. I'm tired. I'm bored. :) Landon is at the sitter's. We've decided to keep his schedule normal meaning he goes to pre-school 2 days a week, Teri's two days and my inlaws on Mondays. His little life is changing so much that we didn't want to throw in additional, unnecessary, upheaval. Plus it's allowing me to simply rest. I actually got sleep in to 7:30! OMG that was heaven. While working I get up at 4:45 each day! I've done shopping and cleaning and I believe I've picked up the last of the misc items at babies r us. It's nice to be able to relax and I NEED to take advantage of it I know I won't be born once Jocelyn arrives. Oh and for the record- the crap that's on TV mid day is amazing. You know it's bad when you have hundreds of channels to choose from and there's "nothing" on. :)
Okay, I do have a couple loads of laundry to do. Might as well power it out.
Well...I am back from the doctor...Eli is still head down but still high and I havent made any other progress since last week...:( I am kinda bummed...i know that he needs more time inside...but i am feeling so crappy. My doctor told me that this is the worst time to be pg, and that he expects me to be miserable, so I guess I have 3 1/2 more weeks to be miserable...My next appt is July 11th, which is 2 weeks away instead of 1 b/c my doc will be on vacation. I will be 38 1/2 weeks then...:eek:
I had my doctor's appointment yesterday. She didn't check me (:D) since I haven't been having major contractions. She did an u/s and she said that babe is head down. Now the specialist on Monday said it is breech. I don't know who to believe! I didn't feel any major movement to think that the babe flipped. I guess it doesn't matter anyways, since I am having a c/s. I have gained 4 lbs in the last month. I hope to stop gaining weight... but ice cream is sooo nice on these hot days!!!
I have another appointment on Monday.
We are planning on driving up to NY for the 4th. It will be a nice vacation. DH is coming home on FRIDAY!! YIPPIE!!!! :)
I guess it's safe for me to take my renewal CPR class on Saturday ha ha ha! It will only be 4 hours and it's a few feet away from the hospital I'm delivering at.
Kazata..
My urine has come back clear so far. But my mom had preeclampsia with me and never had anything more than trace amounts of protein in her urine. She also didn't have the rapid weight gain or swelling. So I feel like I can't really count on the symptoms very much. My bp has been good the past couple days. I have my dr's appt today at 11:30.. so let's hope everything is still ok.
Robyn..
Thank you. That was one of my biggest fears even before she brought it up. So her little story certainly didnt' help. It was all sort of odd because she didn't seem to have any emotion when she was talking about it. Just casually like it's something that happens to lots of people.
Polkadot..
I can so understand your sleep issues. I feel the same way. Permanently exhausted, but not able to sleep for any length of time. Constantly tossing and turning. Poor dh is sleeping on the couch most of time because he can't sleep with me tossing and turning all night.
Ugh.. I have somehow gotten it into my head that I'm going to deliver early and I can't stop myself from fixating on that. I'm going to be a crazy cranky woman if this baby goes overdue. I'm done NOW. It's time to come out Madeline.. your mommy doesn't want to play this game anymore!!!!!
I'm feeling really whiny lately. I'm physically miserable. I have CONSTANT heartburn. The Rolaids and Tums aren't doing it for me anymore. I need to find something stronger. I also need to get my hair cut because I'm looking not soo cute. But I just don't know where to find the time.
I've been on a cleaning frenzy lately. But if this baby isn't going to come out soon it will all be a mess again by the time she gets here. C'mon please come out baby!!!
Congratulations to the new mommies!!!!
Hey girls. I hope you are all doing well and trying to stay out of this heat. The heat index here today is supposed to top 100. Just puts me in a bad mood just thinking about it and I am a fan of warm weather (under normal circumstances).
We've had an exciting few days. First of all, I took my toddler to the doctor Tuesday and we were exposed to Chicken Pox. Chicken pox in the last weeks of pregnancy can be fatal (like 1 in 4 odds or something crazy like that) to a mother that has never had them. Luckily for me and the baby, I had a big strong case of them as a child. Also lucky for my daughter that she's had the vaccination. I know there is still a chance she could get a small case of them, but by the time they actually show up, they are through with the contagious part, so my OB said I'd not have to send her away from the baby or anything like that. How scary, though. You should have seen the look on the faces of the two doctors that had to come in and told me that I had been exposed (A little girl that was in the waiting room the whole time we were waiting to see the doctor had them).
Then, as if that wasn't enough, that night there was a SNAKE IN OUR HOUSE!!! It was just inside the door, and probably had only been there a few minutes, but still........... A SNAKE!! It's a wonder I didn't drop this baby out right then and there.
Yesterday I lost some (or all, not sure how you know the difference) of my mucus plug. I guess that my cervix is starting to thin. At my appt on Monday I was not thinned much and only slight dialtion so I guess this is just a little more. My next appt is Monday.
I freaked out for a bit yesterday WRT to the whole vaginal v c-section thing (b/c of problems with the my first delivery and my eye sight). I called my nurse and she got my OB himself on the phone with me. We talked a good fifteen minutes and although I still haven't elected to do a c-section or committed to doing the vaginal birth, I do feel much more informed about my decisions and how to make one that is both best for me and my baby. I am very lucky to have the OB that I have.
Anyway, I hope you are all doing well. Can't wait to see pictures and read birth stories!!!
Hi girls... things are well here.
Megan is out of the isolette and in an open crib! :) She is nippling all of her feeds but is still having spitup issues, enough that they are concerned. So she just has to work that out and gain a little more weight.
Natalie is still in her isolette but will probably be moved soon. She's nippling all of her feeds as well and is tolerating them pretty well.
I'm doing well, just tired from getting up to pump all the time.
We don't know anything for sure, but they may be coming home sometime next week.
We finally got a pic of all four of us on Monday: I have Megan and DH has Natalie
Thanks for all of the well wishes on baby turning head down. Definitly a huge relief!
Katie: Early baby - yes I feel the same way too! Some days I'm like enough already especially with 90 degree days.
Twainny: I have always loved ice cream anyways. Now its just too hard to not eat so much with the heat and humidity. I eat so much of it now b/c its such a nice cool treat!
Polka: We already know we are going to be miserable for the next couple of weeks, isn't it nice when people remind us? When I tell people when I'm due I usually get a "thats too bad" response.
MommaO: It really sucks when you pay almost $100 a month for cable and there's nothing on. 4:45 every morning - you definetly deserve a break after getting up that early every morning!
Kym: So envious of you being done with work so soon. I have 10 days left after today (not that I'm counting or anything!)
Hope everyone has a good day and we have more babies coming soon!
Had my 38 week appointment this morning.
Unfortunately my blood pressure was high again. This time the high number was fine, but the low number was high (122/100). (Last week it was 140/72). I told the nurse that I was only concentrating on bringing my high number down and hadn't been focused on the low number. ;) My urine still came back clear (no protein), but nevertheless, the doctor wants to see me back tomorrow to check my b lood pressure again, and if it is still high I will be sent to the hospital for monitoring and further testing. I have this feeling a trip to the hospital is in my future since I already have a bit of white coat syndrome, so with the added anxiety of wanting a low reading, I'm sure my blood pressure will be high again tomorrow morning. Sigh. Hopefully it;'s just some anxiety and not preeclampsia. It'd be nice if it wasn't even high blood pressure for a prolonged period though. Wish me luck that it goes back to normal levels tomorrow!
Kazata..
I hope your bp is in the normal range tomorrow!
Me..
Quite a day and I'm incredibly exhausted. I had my dr's appt. this morning and my bp was slightly high, but not too bad. But after I talked to him about how high it got last weekend my dr. decided to put me on some blood pressure medication. He also informed me that I've had trace amounts of protein in my urine for several months. I know he was trying to keep me from worrying, but I feel like I have a right to know stuff like that. So he ordered a 24 hour urine collection from me to check for protein. That's going to be fun. He also told me I tested positive for the group B strep. Which isn't a big deal I guess.. just another thing to pile onto my day. He also sent me to the hospital for a non-stress test and wants me to go twice a week for them. He didn't really tell me why. Just said he wanted to make sure the baby was ok. So after an hour and a half of monitoring I got the all clear. The nurse said everything looked ok.
I'm physically and emotionally exhausted. I honestly can't even guess at how many times I've started to cry today. I'm going to try and relax this weekend.
Ugh.. and I gained 2 pounds in the past week. What the heck is up with that??? I'm now up 17lbs total. I guess I'm not going to be making my goal of 20lbs .
Kazata - good luck today!
katie - I hear you on the weight gain. I have gained a lot more than you and thought it was slowing down - but it's not - I'm wondering (hoping) it's all the swelling. I have major swelling in my feet - starts as soon as I wake up (could barely get my sneakers on this morning after showering)
Dana - I hear you on being able to wait for baby a little longer - I mostly feel the same way - but I really don't want to go too far past my due date (if at all) -especially with my feet the way they are.
Has anyone heard anything from jimmysgirl? I think Tonysweetie is her contact person. Her last post from yesterday morning (in the Belly Shots thread) said that she was going for an ultrasound and if the dr. didn't like the fluid level, they might take the baby right away - hope everything is ok! We may have another baby joining this thread shortly!
What about gator? She's due Monday so maybe her DD is also making an appearance?
if you guys are still around, please let us know!
Wrighty - thanks for stopping by and wishing us luck! I feel like I just got a BFP and was checking out the July '06 thread - I can't believe it's about to be July '07!
Kataza: Good luck with the BP reading today. Mine is always on the high side when they take it at the beginning of the appt, they always take it at the end too and its normal. I think mine is high at first b/c they are always behind and I do so much waiting to finally see someone and then as soon as they put that thing on me, I think "OK relax" - which is easier said than done.
Katie: Sorry you are having such a bad day. I have been gaining more weight in the end of the pregnancy than in the beginning. But, all I do is eat now! I am constantly hungry and of course the stuff I crave is not the healthy, low cal stuff.
Robyn: There are a couple of people that haven't been around, maybe we will have a couple more babies before July 1st actually comes around.
Today it is in the high 70"s, so nice of a change from the 90's we have been having. I get so miserable when it is so hot!
Have a good day everyone.
I'm still here! I've been having more frequent contractions but nothing that has any regularity to it at all. Just when I think I should start paying attention to the clock, they stop. So, we might be in it for the long haul here. And I'm okay with that. I never expected her early for some reason (though everyone in my family did) and though I'm getting a bit crankier and a bit more uncomfortable- I'm not really in a rush. I love being pregnant with her and having her all to myself. Don't get me wrong- can't wait to meet her and snuggle with her and see her. . .. but I'm kind of content.
If everyone I know would stop calling just to "check in" I'd probably be even more content. But how many times can you repeat that you're feeling fine, you haven't had the baby yet, etc. I know I should feel loved and be happy about it but it is kind of annoying me--- amusing me slightly but mostly annoying. Luckily DH is fielding many of them :)
kazata- good luck today. Hoping for a nice, relaxing, low blood pressure kind of a day.
j2478- 70s? That sounds divine. It's so hot here I just don't spend a lot of time outside- unless I'm in the pool. My poor dogs are tired of being cooped up all day.
Katie- I'm sorry it was such an awful day. That is a lot to pile up on one pregnant person in one day. Hope today is a better one.
Hello to everyone else! Wondering about Ceasar and Jimmysgirl, too?!?! I know Ceasar said she wouldn't be online as much but. . hmmm.
Has anyone heard anything from jimmysgirl? I think Tonysweetie is her contact person. Her last post from yesterday morning (in the Belly Shots thread) said that she was going for an ultrasound and if the dr. didn't like the fluid level, they might take the baby right away - hope everything is ok! We may have another baby joining this thread shortly!
Nope..I'm still here! :p Fluid levels measured lower than last week, still a bit over the normal range, but not enough to worry my doctor. So she is content to let things continue on. She didn't do an internal either because as soon as I was on my back I started having issues breathing. Its been happening more and more whenever I lay on my back, but my doctor said thats normal because of all of the pressure on my lungs from baby. But I haven't been having any contractions, so she didn't think it was necessary to check me. Thank goodness, because I was miserable last week after she did my internal.
I promise, I'll be back for SO's. I've been so busy at work trying to clear my desk and yesterday was crazy as I did everything on the premise that I could have ended up not coming in at all today. On the plus side, not only did I get all of my work done, my hospital bags got all packed too in case I was admitted straight from my appointment. So thats all done now!
Planned c-section was decided yesterday by myself, DH and doctor. Tentative eviction date is 7/12, at 39 weeks. We will have a firm date set next Thursday during my last appointment after they check the baby's weight and fluid levels again via ultrasound.
ok lets see....
jimmygirl~ glad that the fluid issue worked itself out...and yay for having a planned c-section, it must feel good to have a definite plan and not have to sit around wondering when the baby is gonna get here like the rest of us.
gator~ you are kinda like me...have just made the decision that the baby is going to be in there for a while and that we just need to enjoy it as much as possible.
j2478~ ahhh 70's...i wish...its like Africa here...the high gets to about 97 or 98 and then the heat index and humidity makes it feel like 100-110 sometimes...its miserable...I try to stay inside as much as possible.
katie~ Sorry the doc had to put you on the bp meds but hopefully it will help the situation. Glad that everything checked out ok at the hospital, sorry you are having to deal with all of this...I know how uncomfortable and exhausted I am and I am not having to deal with any of this...(((hugs))) to you...I hope today is much better for you..
Me~ I didnt get to sleep until about 2am this morning, but I did sleep until 9 am...so it actually feels like I got more sleep than I did. I am still feeling TONS of pressure. Its so weird. When I used to have a period it was really heavy and I would get this same feeling, like my insides were gonna slide right out. Well this is the same feeling now, so I keep going to the bathroom to check, but nothing is there. I literally want to cross my legs and keep them that way to make sure something doesnt fall out :eek:
ok thats long...hope everyone else is doing ok...
Robyn..
I thought mine was slowing down too. My hands are slightly swollen but other than that I'm doing pretty good. So I guess I can't blame it on that.
gator97..
I have decided that today WILL be a better day no matter what!
Kym...
How exciting that you now have a tentative date!! I'm glad your fluid levels were better yesterday.
Thank you! I'm glad yesterday is over and today just *has* to be better than yesterday!
Ugh.. you sound really uncomfortable. I'm sure it's just the baby getting down nice and low for you!
As promised...
Katie&Micah You poor thing, you've just been through the wringer lately on medical issues. Sorry about the BP and I hope that it goes lower for you and stays that way. I'm a little concerned over how non-vocal your doctor is with you. I mean, I would definitely have wanted to know that my urine had consistently had protein in it for several weeks running. And I absolutely would have demanded more of an explanation for why you are being sent to to the hospital twice a week for monitoring than just "to make sure the baby is okay". Ummm, okay as far as what goes? I don't know, my own doctor has been so detailed and informative with me every step of the way of this pregnancy that I just can't imagine her acting like yours is. I don't like doctors that aren't forthcoming with their patients, it makes me nervous. :( Anyway, hang in there sweetie and try not to let it all get to you. Oh, and its okay to cry if you want to! We are pregnant, emotional and hormonal women and if we want to cry, then dammit, its our prerogative! :p
polkadot Hmmm...when I read your post I immediately thought about my OB's explanation to me yesterday when I asked her what contractions felt like. One of the first things she mentioned was intense pressure 'down there'. I wonder if something is happening with you or getting ready to happen? When do you go back to the doctors again to be checked? Because I'm willing to bet that you are progressing just based on what you are describing! Good luck and hang in there!
gator97 Like you, I'm in no rush for baby girl to get here. I mean, I am uncomfortable alot, but I'm content for the most part to let it go until I arrive at either the planned eviction date or baby girl getting the show started on her own. Oh, and reading your post makes me so glad that we don't have a home phone because I'm sure everyone would be calling us non-stop like you are dealing with now. We have cell phones only and so far haven't had to field any of the "is the baby here yet?" calls, thank goodness. I would go crazy for sure! Anyway, keep us posted on those contractions!
j2478 I feel ya on the temp drop! We were in the high 90's all week long, with nasty sticky humidity to boot. But after some nasty thunderstorms yesterday, a cold front has arrived to bring the temperature here back down. They are calling for high 70's, low 80's all weekend long. Ahhhhh...relief at last!
RobynScott I was fully expecting to start gaining weight like crazy again in these last few weeks, but for me it hasn't happened. Not only did I gain just 3 pounds in the past 7 weeks; I got on the scale yesterday and I actually was down by one pound! What in the heck is up with that? How is it that the baby is gaining and I'm not? Is it even possible? :confused: Sorry about the swelling; I'm still with you on that issue. My feet usually start swelling up before I even make it to work and by the end of the day I look like a cartoon character. Fun times...:rolleyes:
Okay, all this talk about ice cream is just fueling my own sweet tooth! No ice cream for me though, all I seem to want are Ritas Italian Ice gelatis; custard and italian ice all swirled together; mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!! :D I believe I might have to indulge in one this evening! I'll just say its a celebration of sorts for the fact that today is MY LAST DAY AT WORK!! Yayyyyyyy!!! I'm so happy that I'm done with this miserable sitting at my desk all day long crap. DH is already frustrated with me though because he thinks I should be home with my feet up and thats just not going to happen! I have a list a mile long of stuff that I still need to get done and I'm going to do as much as possible on it! My sister said she will come and help me though, so at least I won't be tackling it alone. Its mostly just cleaning that I'm concentrating on at this point. But I will make sure to take time out to rest too! And I will be able to sleep in every day...at least till baby gets here. I feel badly for everyone having sleeping issues here. I'm sort of in that club, some nights more than others, but am still able to get some amount of decent sleep most of the times. I attribute that 100% to my best friend; my Snoogle body pillow. I can't even imagine not having that and being able to sleep.
Kym~ I would have thought that too...but He said i wasnt making any progres...maybe I am now though...:confused:
I dont see him again until July 11th, which is two weeks instead of 1. He will be out of town next week and they couldnt get me in with the nurse practitioner...he did tell me to call for ANY reason and that his dad is also a doctor there and that he will be filling in for him. I am confortable with that b/c i have seen his dad before...so I guess if nothing happens next week...I should have made progress by the next time I see him...
Just out of curiosity and boredom (here at work today). I looked up the moon schedule. I have always heard it has something to do with going into labor. But anyways, there is a new moon on July 14th (July 15th has been my personal labor predicition - I even have it down in writing). And there are full moons on June 30th and July 30th. Maybe we will have some babies make their appearances this weekend!
I had a dream last night that we would be having a baby boy and it wouldn't be in July - (it would be June) - that leaves tonight and tomorrow ... I'm not counting on the full moon to have any effect though.
I think July 14 or 15 is probably more likely for me too. We shall see - giess I'd better get that bag packed, huh?!?
Thank you everybody for your good thoughts today. My blood pressure was 130/82 today, not great, but good enough that I didn't get sent to the hospital. Yay! I'm just supposed to call if I get blurry vision or headaches, otherwise, go back next Friday for my 39 week appointment!!! Eeeek, we are getting down to the wire here.
Katie I'm so sorry. I can't believe your doctor didn't tell you about the protein. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that everything stays fine and that the bp medication helps out. I'm with you on the weight gain, I just keep packing on the pounds at the end apparently, but my total weight gain is far beyond yours. (I was up another 2 pounds from yesterday, but I had just eaten when I went in today).
polka Sounds to me you are having some kind of developments, let's see if you make it to that July 11 appointment!
Kym..
Thank you! Today is a much better day, but yesterday I felt like a hormonal blob. Every little thing made me tear up.
I think the reason my dr. is not as forthcoming with me is because he believes I'm stressing myself out too much and making my bp even higher than it would be on his own (I do agree with this). But I also feel like he should have told me this kind of stuff.
polkadot..
Strangely enough they scheduled my next appt. for 2 weeks instead of one also. But there is no excuse for it other than incompetency. :rolleyes: I have to go in on Monday to drop my 24 hour urine collection off at the lab and I will be talking to them about this again. I don't think that NOW is the time to be cutting back on appts.
j2478..
Ohh!!! good info thank you! I certainly don't want to be pregnant still on July 30th.. so I'll hope for the 14th also!
Very interesting! I've now had 3 boy dreams and Dh has had 2 boy dreams - and I had 1 girl dream early on. Really weird was last week when DH and I had a boy dream at the same time. So 5 of 6 have been boy dreams.
I keep thinking girl so maybe that theory is right - I hope we find out relatively soon ;)
I'm sorry kazata, I missed you on my SO's! :( I'm so glad that your BP went back down and you didn't need a trip to the hospital! Take care of yourself and hopefully keep your BP down. 130/82 doesn't sound too bad to me, but I'm never sure what is considered high because I've always had very low BP readings my whole adult life. Yesterday my BP was 112/63. What is considered to be too high?
Oh, the u/s tech that I had yesterday played around with the 3D wand and gave me some new pics of our little one. I'll have to scan them in and share them tonight!
Robyn: Very cool about the dreams! Everytime I have a baby dream - its always a baby (gender neutral) and I never specifically see a girl or boy!
I have a spreadsheet and have been asking friends and family to write down gender and birth date predictions. 15 girls and 14 boys - too funny that its so close.
First off I'm sorry for not doing SO's I'm in my own pissy spot today. Don't mind me. :)
Had my weekly appt. No further progress. It took every ounce of strength to not start sobbing hysterically as I made next week's appointment and to say "see you next week" to my favorite nurse. *sigh* I don't WANT to see her next week. I WANT to have this baby.
I know in my mind that baby is safe and happy and my body is doing what it's supposed to by sustaining her life but I'm ready to meet her, to hold her. I'm trying to focus on the positive and "enjoy" the last few days (weeks?:eek:) of this pregnancy b/c it's likely my last and I'm doing that but that doesn't mean that I'm not anxious to have her join our family. That and I'm sick of the "check in" calls from family members. yes, we'll call when I go into labor.
Then I made my appt for next friday but as I walked to the car they called to see if I could change it to the Monday after that b/c my Dr (who I want to really see instead of the silly girl I saw today) is in the Long Beach office instead of Lakewood on Friday. I say, fine. Then I thought about it. No. I want Friday and I'll go to the Long Beach office. I called back and that was fine. Not that those 3 days make a huge difference but it's a mental thing for me.
Hope my other july momma friends are in a better state than I am. :) That said, give it a minute and I'll be happy again. D@mn horomones.
Haha - see my post in the 750 ML moms thread - I'm a hot, hormonal mess today - I SO know where you are coming from. It's funny, b/c I'm really ok with waiting a few more weeks for baby (well, mostly ok ;)) - but I can't stand being this hormonal.
We were supposed to have a cleaning lady come today and she called to cancel when she was supposed to be here - I started to cry b/c I was so upset and want the house clean and I'm not really comfortable enough to do it myself. Pathetic, huh :rolleyes: At least this way we can save $$ by her not coming but I couldn't believe I started to cry.
Yesterday I cried b/c I missed my train by one minute and I was hot and sweaty and had to wait half an hour for the next train - a true hormonal mess!
If I'm like this now, I'm really afraid what I am going to be like after delivery.
All that a longwinded way to say MommaO you are so not alone ;)
Unfortunatly, I'm nearly two weeks pp and the hormones are crazier than ever and I never had any swelling at all during the pregnancy and now my feet are huge!
LDS - I hear you. I have cried more in the last week than during my entire pregnancy. And my feet were also huge for about 4 days and I never had any swelling before giving birth.
So things are going well here. My parents stayed a week to help us get things under control because my husband had to work the first 3 days of the week. They left this morning and I don't think I could have done it without them. Audrey is good. We had a slight issue with jaundice that required 2 visits already to the ped and them taking blood from her heel. I just wanted to cry when they took blood. I know they need to do it but she just screams her little head off. Breaks my heart.:( We are having a few issues with breast feeding but we are starting to get the hang of it, so I'm not too worried. And like I said above, I have been a crying fool. Sometimes I don't really know why. I am so ready for that to be over. I am usually very calm and rarely cry so this is new for me. I gotta run, but I'll try to post some pictures soon.
I'm both happy and bummed to hear I'm not the only one who's battling the "ickies" these days. :) Happy b/c it shows I'm not just going looney and bummed b/c it means others are experiencing the same thing.
After having a bad day yesterday I decided to "make" myself be happy. DH and I took Landon to San Diego, to Sea World for the day. It was DH's company picnic.We'd originally planned to give DH's parents the tickets to take Landon but after the news yeseterday that I was still at 2 cm DH thought it was a good idea to go. I, at that time, reluctantly agreed. I'm so glad we did. We had a blast. landon had a blast. I'm actually now *happy* that we didn't have Jocelyn yet b/c if I'd had her we wouldn't have had this last outing- just the 3 of us. It was nice b/c the tickets were free and we didn't feel obligated to stay all day. After about 4 hours both Landon and his super pg momma were done so we started the hour and a half treck home. Nice.
Jim and LJ are now swimming at our friends house. I'm home alone, rehyrdating and resting.
Hope all my other suffering Mommas found some good in the day! If not, look for it tomorrow. It's there! I promise.
I CANNOT BELIEVE ITS JULY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (TOTALLY FREAKING OUT OVER HERE!)
I hate to say but I've actually been feeling better comfortable-wise. She's all up in my ribs when I sit, but it doesnt really bother me anymore, and I don't really find myself shifting around. I've been sleeping better and for longer stretches at night, only peeing once sometimes! Also, the heartburn is pretty much gone and the swelling isnt as bad. The weather has been PERFECT, in the 70's and low 80's. Plus I know things are much easier right now with her insde since I already have a 3 year old, so I'm not in any rush. I'm also not excited for another csection or the craziness of a VBAC. Frankly, they both scare me! So thats another reason I'd just prefer she stay put.
HOWEVER, I'll be 38 weeks tomorrow and this past weekend my stomach has been really tight in the evenings, like BH, but also a bit achey like AF is coming. I don't remember having this with my son so I'm hoping my uterus and cervix are getting ready.
Its just soo surreal to me that I'm going to have a baby girl soon!
lisa- you look great!!! In the picture of you and your DH, you don't even look PG! I guess it has to do with the pattern of the fabric.
I too can't believe it is July. I can't believe how few July babies came in June. I am in the final countdown. (at most) 16 days until my babe is here! Sort of freaking out, but I agree with danaland, I know being PG is soooo much easier than dealing with a baby/toddler. And it has really cooled off here too, I am sleeping soooo much better and I don't even get up to pee in the middle of the night. But alas, it is going to change, it is going to hot and humid over the 4th :( Such as life.
I just took my car in to be fixed. I must say, what a rip off! It is $90 just to LOOK at it and then whatever it costs for labor and parts. I had to walk home from the shop (about a mile). I also don't have a car to go to my Dr. appointment today, so a friend is taking me, but I am going to walk home. Am I crazy to walk about 3 miles when I am 37 weeks PG???? At least it is only in the mid 70s. :)
We had a really nice weekend at home. DH is back!!! But I must say, it is hard having to deal with him. We pretty much fought the whole time (not really fighting, but just complaining about what the other was doing/handling things) It will take awhile to get use to each other again!! LOL
Hope ceaser is out having her baby!!! Otherwise she should be checking in!!!!
Sending labor vibes to everyone who wants them!!!
Okay, I'm getting a bit worried about Ceaser, I wish she would check in. Hopefully she has had her baby and just is really busy!
twainny Yay on your DH returning home! It makes sense that it would be an adjustment for both of you though when you are used to doing things alone! Hang in there and I'm glad he made it before your baby is born! Sorry about the car repairs, I know how bad that sucks. Umm..do we live in the same state? Its been nice here but is scheduled to return to hot and humid on the 4th of July. I just want to stay home, but DH wants to go to an outdoor party. I wonder if I can get away with sending him alone?
Danaland I'm soooo jealous that your heartburn has gone away. Mine doesn't seem to want to go anywhere, unfortunately. I actually have to get up in the middle of the night to take antacids, as well as during the day. Blech. I'm with you, I just cannot believe that is July and our babies will be arriving shortly!
polkadot So..welcome to the Michelin Man club. Its lovely, isn't it? :rolleyes:
Lisa You look gorgeous in those pictures, mama! :D
LDSAngel Keep posting your pictures of the twins, I love looking at them! You look and sound so happy! I can't wait till you get to bring them home and hope that they both continue to do as well as they have been!
rangerwendy Sorry about the jaundice and the blood draw. I'm really not looking forward to having to take the baby to the ped and let them poke and prod at her, even though I know it needs to be done. Hope BF'ing is going better for you now and I can't wait to see pics!
MommaO Sounds like you had a great time at Sea World and I'm so glad you got to do something to take your mind off of things for awhile. Hang in there, we are all on the homestretch now!
Well...here I am, officially on maternity leave and loving it! 'm hoping baby girl stays put for a bit longer just so I can make a dent on this darn to-do list! You know how that goes, no matter how much you get done, there always seems to be more! Anyway, I am getting ready to call my OB's office. I have had an ongoing issue with my right ear that now seems to have resolved itself into an infection.:rolleyes: I'm hoping my OB can prescribe something as I have never bothered to find myself a regular doctor. I swear, it seems like this kind of crap never ends for me. Oh well..suck it up and move on, right?
QOTD Is anyone else using an exercise/birthing ball? I have two different sizes and love them! They are wonderful to use when baby is really low and making me really uncomfortable.
DH and I went for a little ride yesterday and ended up at Loch Raven reservior. It was sooo pretty there and DH took some nice pictures of me. Here are a few of them:
Wow.. everyone is looking great!
I am really jealous of everyone whose heartburn and frequent peeing is going away. Mine is now kicking into high gear. Last night I got up to pee 4 times plus I went right before I laid down. I'm not sure where all this fluid is hiding.. but it likes to come out at night. The heartburn is also worse than ever. I'm taking Zantac AND tums/rolaids in between. Night seems to be the worst time for heartburn too. So overall I'm getting used to the sleep deprivation thing that will come after I give birth.
I did my 24 hour pee collection thing and now get to take a big jug of pee to the lab. I'm hoping they won't find any problems with protein in it. So cross your fingers for me! I've also been trying to schedule my NST's with the dr's office but we keep playing phone tag. I was planning on going in today for one. So if they don't call me back soon I guess I'll just head over to the hospital.
QOTD: How did you ask your dr. to put you on maternity leave?
My dr. is very pro-working as long as humanly possible. So I'm kind of nervous that he'll say no if I ask. But I honestly don't know how long I can keep this up. I've gotten absolutely huge the past week or two. I'm sooooo sloooowwwww moving around now.
QOTD Is anyone else using an exercise/birthing ball?
I was thinking of getting one.. but my balance is so off I thought it probably wouldn't work well for me. Is it hard to balance on? Have you had any problems getting on an off? (not sure how low to the ground it actually is)
QOTD: How did you ask your dr. to put you on maternity leave?
I basically just told my doctor that I was ready to be off of work by the end of the month. She was actually surprised that I was willing to go that long because of my swelling issues and worsening Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. But then again, I've never felt uncomfortable asking her or telling her anything, so it just wasn't a big deal. FWIW, Katie, keep in mind that this is your pregnancy and your body. You alone should be making the calls when it comes to stuff like working. After all, you are really the only one who knows how you feel and how much you can handle. Don't let your doctor bully you into continuing on when you don't feel like you can anymore. Thats all I can say.
I am the world's biggest klutz right now and haven't had too many problems. You aren't sitting that low to the ground, maybe like the same level you would be on a couch. DH usually helps me off if he's here when I'm on it, but I can get myself off of it if need be. If you are in pain or uncomfortable, I would highly recommend it though, especially if baby is sitting low. There are times when baby is so low and just kicking the crap out of me and my cervix that I practically run for my ball; it gives almost instant relief.
I know.. It just seems like I lose all my nerve when I get into the dr's office. Maybe because I haven't had alot of experience with dr's in my life (huge fear so I only went when I was deathly ill). I'm not sure. I just kind of sit there and do whatever they tell me to do.
I understand. But next time you go, try to psyche yourself up enough that you feel like you can tackle the issue. Be brave and just keep in mind what I told you. Your pregnancy, your body, YOUR DECISION!! Any doc worth their salt is going to listen when you tell them you don't feel like you can continue on working! Hang in there.
I am back from my appointment. She didn't do anything yet again! You'd think that being 2 weeks from giving birth, she'd want to know if I am dilated or not. But then again, with DS I didn't get past 1 cm dilated even after 10 hours of pitocin!! LOL My friend ended up letting use her car, so I didn't have to walk home :)
Jimmysgirl - yes, I live close to you. I am in NVA. You look great in your pictures, btw!! and are you wearing slippers?? It looks like it. We are still planning on going to upstate NY for the weekend. We just can't decide when traffic won't be HORRIBLE! Going Tuesday at noon, Tuesday night, Wed morning? I can't decide. Getting up 270 is soooo horrible!!!
Not much else going on here. I did take the whole day off of work :) Just relaxing now. Oh, my freaking car will cost $400 to fix, I swear, what a rip-off.
I haven't posted in close to a week I don't think! But I am still pregnant:). I have had two dr. appts. Last week he checked me and I had no progress at all. Today he didn't even check me since I haven't had any contractions or anything since last appt. He just said as long as baby moves to not worry! I haven't been around due to having my (2nd) double ear infection this pregnancy. I am much better now but I was miserable last week and most of the weekend. I still don't have 100% hearing but its not nearly as painful. If I get another one I have to go to an ENT since we don't know why I am getting them.
Besides that pregnancy is actually good. It was torture for about a week but now I am sleeping longer, feeling better. I feel like I could stay pregnant for weeks and not just till next Wed!:eek: I think I will go overdue. Oh and I quit my job my last day was suppose to be last Friday but since I was sick I didn't work it. I am now a stay at home mommy unless I find a job I want to do(which is possible!).
Okay off to clean and do laundry since I haven't done anything due to feeling so bad!
Kym...
I will definitely try!
Twainny..
I'm so glad you didn't have to walk. I'm sure you would have been hot and tired by the time you got home. Sorry about the car.. car problems and computer problems are my two biggest fears. They are just so incredibly frustrating!!
Alliannie...
The ear infections sound really miserable, but it sounds like you're dealing as well as possible.
Me..
I just got back from another NST (non-stress test) at the hospital and everything went great. I only had to stay on the monitor for 20 minutes this time! 20 minutes is no big deal at all.. the hour and a half like last time sucked. I'm really tired right now though. How on earth am I going to make it at work until 11:00pm? I really have to talk to my dr. about getting out of work. I'm too tired for all this.
Twainny - I hear ya! I was induced twice with Landen, and only got to 2cm and that was 2 weeks late. I had my my 38w check up today and she didn't bother checking me. I'm glad.
Katie - I'm glad everything went great!
Kym - Nice pics!
QOTD - No, I didn't buy a birthing ball but I'm hoping the hospital has one. My Mom has one and it did feel pretty comfy so I might borrow hers, but I'm not really having any cervix pain or pressure yet.
~~~~~~
I had my 38 week check up today. Weight gain is 29lbs and my BP was 112/68. Like I said above she didn't check me but I'm glad and not much has been going on. She did check her position with u/s and she's head down! :D I pretty much knew that but it was good to see/hear. I have a weight check u/s next Monday at 39 weeks! These weeks are FLYING!!! The VBAC is still on.
Also, I FINALLY washed her small clothes this morning! I just need to hang them up and move on to blankets and sleepers. Then maybe pack something!

Hello ladies! Sorry so many people are feeling miserable. I'm getting to that uncomfortable point for sure. We celebrated our due date with a trip to L&D last night. I had regular contractions from about 8 p.m. until 3:30 a.m. They weren't overly painful but getting more intense and they quite regular for a while. We headed into the hospital just after midnight. But, since they weren't significantly painful, they weren't doing much as my dilation had not increased much. So, today I'm tired b/c we were up late and I kept getting woken up with contractions when I did sleep after we got home. Not too many contractions today so it looks like our girl is going overdue.
Sorry no SOs but I'm kind of tired. I'm off to take a nap.
Happy Due Date Gator! Hopefully you'll have your baby soon!

Happy due date, gator! Woohoo..sounds like you are nearing the end!! :D
twainny Nope, they aren't slippers. Just very comfy slip-ons that are pretty much white canvas cloth with rubber soles. Pretty close to slippers though! They did get a tad dirty yesterday thanks to the sand and dirt I was walking in.
Danaland That is awesome that baby girl is head-down! Keeping my fingers crossed for you that you get to have her vbac as planned! As far as laundry goes, I've still got lots to wash, but enough to get us through should she decide to come early.
Katie I'm so glad your NST went well and you didn't have to stay on the monitors as long. Now, just keep telling yourself that you WILL tell your doctor that you need to be done with work when you go to your next appointment!
alliannie Hmmm...I have an ear infection too! Are they common in pregnancy and I just didn't know it? Glad to hear you are hanging in there!
Got some work done around the house today! Did five loads of laundry, handwashed some other stuff, dusted my whole living room, cleaned the toliet in my bathroom, cleaned and straightened our computer desk area and did some general straightening all around. DH is not going to be happy with me, but I feel fine! I don't want to sit here all day doing nothing!
Okay, am I the only one who doesn't know what a contraction feels like? I haven't had any that I know of, not even BH.

Hi everyone, Hope you all feel better today (vibes your way for healthy and happiness) I actually feel ok considering it is so close to baby girl to be born. We bought a new car yesterday, well actually a used jeep grand cherokee. That has been on my mind this whole day (budgeting to include another car payment). And of course, when will Lilli ever be born. I swear she is content in there.
I wanted to post some pictures then maybe later today or tomorrow I will post some SO's (BTW I have been reading along the last few days, but have been too lazy to type)
Sorry these are so big the resizing is not working for me today!

Yes.. I will keep telling myself that! lol
Okay, am I the only one who doesn't know what a contraction feels like? I haven't had any that I know of, not even BH.
Nope.. I'm in the same boat. I *thought* I might have had a couple about a month ago. But now I'm thinking it probably wasn't anything except her being super active.

Hmmmm...woke up this morning feeling very crampy. Wonder if that means anything?
Well, I guess I will end up upsetting MIL. She lives about 40 minutes from us and wants us to come to her house tonight to watch fireworks and spend the night. The thing is, I have enough trouble sleeping in my own bed these days! I flat-out told DH I wouldn't be comfortable spending the night there; I would be too worried about waking everyone up every time I have to get up to pee, not to mention the fact that I never sleep well in other people's homes anyway. Oh well...
lovelifeandlivelove Adorable nursery! And it looks like you and I have the same kind of closets going for our little ones! :D
Love- great pics, love the nursery!
Kym- crampy huh? maybe something is going on;) I agree sleep in your own bed and just relax!
me- just got back from the Dr. I saw the other Dr on today since mine is in Canada. BP was good, Babys HR was in the 140's. They checked me because I've been having pain low down. I think he's hitting my cervix and I feel like I torn something low down. She checked me and said "Oh you're not ready" I was a little bummed all this pain and nothing. Then She said he is head down and low just not low enough but I was 1 cm dilated. So at least something is happening just a whole lot. I go back July 11. Oh I gained 1lb so I'm up to 17.5lbs total I hope this little one comes a little early.I so ready. Okay E and me are going on a walk then to the park. Maybe that will help baby to drop more;)
Ceaser oh Ceaser where are you?

we brought BOTH girls home yesterday. :) And we survived the first night ok. Biggest surprise so far- sleeping babies are loud! These girls both grunt and groan like crazy in their sleep. I hear it's more of a preemie thing but who knows.
Coming home pics- Megan in pink and Natalie in yellow.

Okay, I just checked ceaser's journal and she hasn't posted there either. :( I'm starting to get concerned!
ETA: Her last journal post was 6/23. There are a few girls there who have her phone number that are thinking about calling her to check on her but are hesitating. I wish someone would.
