PS - get the epidural
Dont' just get it.. get it the moment they offer it to you. I was stupid and waited until I couldn't take the pain any longer. It would have been much nicer to not have all that pain.

Robyn you're doing great!!!

when I had my first, I remember reading on here (or WC) to ask for it BEFORE you think you need it, cause it can take FOREVER to get. Well, I believe I asked for the epi around 1, and I finally got it at 3:30ish... luckily I wasn't in a lot of pain, just starting to feel bad. The problem for the delay was that there were other women in active labor and further along than I was. Then I got the WORST doctor to give me the epi... ahhhh the memories! LOL

Robyn - you probably won't be a july 18th mama after all. You are doing great!!! I wish I could log on in the AM before I leave to find out what you had. Looks like I will have to wait until Sunday!

I am trying to back a bag for the hospital. And get everything together for DH and DS while I am not here (heaven forbid DH knew where the diapers are kept!! and which ones are used for daytime and which are for night time.) I highly doubt I will get much sleep tonight, I am really anxious about this baby coming tomorrow!!!

I'm the poster for Jimmysgirl (Kym) and I saw someone asked about her. I was wondering the same thing. She has me worried! I texted her a couple days ago and I got nothing back. It says in her profile she hasn't signed on since the 11th. I hope her and the baby are okay! I'll update you guys if I find anything out from her. Congrats to all the July Mommies!!!!

This is so true. By the time the nurse checked me I was 5 cm. At that point I could still tolerate the pain but we called for the epidural. That was at 6:30 am. There was a delay and they checked me again. I was a 7 and nearly 75% effaced and running out of time to get the epi. At 8:30, finally, it was placed. My baby was born just an hour later. I was so terrified of not getting it. delivery would have been a living hell without it. Her shoulder got stuck and I had to be cut so the Dr could reach in , twist her and yank her out all this while i had a nurse d@mn near jumping on my gut and two nurses pushing me from behind b/c our daughter's head was out but she was blue. All that w/ no epi? No, thanks. I would be in an institution right now if that had happened, I'm so not kidding. It's a nightmare to think back on now and I couldn't really feel anything.

I have given up... I can't sleep. It is 3:30 and I am super tired. I can't get comfortable laying in bed. My DS just woke up (back to bed now) and my cat is bugging the HELL out of me. I swear the cat must know something is up! I think I slept for like 2 hours, if that. I can't eat or drink anything after midnight. At 11:55 DH asked me if I wanted some food. I said nope, not hungry. At 12:15 I was STARVING! I swear I could have eaten a horse!!! It is a mental thing, I'm sure.

Well, in like 5 hours I will have another baby!! Still freaking out about that! I am excited to bed not pregnant. I can't wait for my back not to hurt anymore and I am excited that I will be able to sleep on my stomach again (in a few months).

I'll be back on Sunday to post.

I'm posting for my best friend Robyn, whose sleepy husband called me this morning to announce the birth of their son, Seth Michael.

He arrived at 11:21pm on July 17, 2007, weighing in at 7.8 oz with a full head of blond hair. Robyn had a C-section after 26 hours of labor...but I'm happy to report that mom, dad, and Seth are all doing just fine! :)

I can't believe my girlies are one month old!! They had thier one month WBV yesterday and were both pronounced perfect by the ped. He was very pleased with thier growth. Here's the stats:

Megan:
Birth: 3lbs, 14.8oz, 17 1/4 in
1 month: 5lbs, 11.5oz, 17 7/8 in

Natalie:
Birth: 4lbs, 4.9oz, 16 3/4 in
1 month: 5lbs, 12.5oz, 18 1/4in

They are still eating about every 3 and a half to four hours, 3 or 3.5 ounces at each feeding. They are still great sleepers, but I keep hearing that the 'honeymoon' will be over soon. We'll see. Both girls are working on lifting up thier heads, and getting a little better each day. And I think the color of thier eyes is starting to lighten, I'm still betting they will have daddys beautiful blue/greens.

Here's a few quick pics:

The girls are gorgeous!

Madeline has gotten herself into a little bit of a routine the past 2 nights. She eats at 11, 1:30, 3:45, 5:00 and 8:00. It's really wonderful. I feed her at 11:00 right before I go to bed, she wakes up at 1:30 and 3:45 to eat. I pump from 4:00 to 5:00, feed her again before I go back to bed and then we're up for the day at 8:00. Since she eats so quickly out of the bottle I'm hardly up at all at night time. And she's not fussy.. just goes straight back to sleep. Ohh.. this is nice.. please last!!

Congrats on everyone's big day!
Robyn, sorry to hear about the long long labor, glad everything is ok.
LDS Angel - the girls are too cute, they grew so quickly.
Holy moly 1 month old!
Katie - Yah, for the routine! Lilliana still isn't on a definite routine. She usually falls asleep during feedings way before she is finished (will eat about 1/2 - 1 oz then needs to be tickled awake for the next 1/2 oz then gives up and will awake about 1 hour later wanting to eat the rest) When she does eat 3-4oz then she is actually wide awake and not wanting to go back to bed at all, but when she does she sleeps for a good 3 hours at least.
Epi - I think I might have died without having one (j/k). I think the worst was when the contractions were occurring while they were trying to put in the epi and I had to be completely still. My aunt and mom were saying they each had all of us DC without one and they can't believe how they push it nowdays. I think they may be slightly envious!
I cannot wait until Lilli's next appoinment I think she has gained so much weight and has grown. I couldn't get any pictures to post but here are the links for comparison. And she can find her thumb when she isn't too sleepy!

Lilli is beautiful!!

Maddy always falls asleep while nursing, but if I give her a bottle of EBM she will stay awake for the whole thing. Wow.. 4 oz already?? I haven't given her anything over 2 oz. I need to find a chart or something that tells you how much to feed them according to their age. I hope I'm not underfeeding her.

I think Maddy must be one of those babies who loves to suck.. because her hands are constantly in her mouth. She even tries to throw them in there when she's having her bottle or nursing. :rolleyes: I wish I could keep them out of her face.

A is good we are just starting a rountine (I hope:p) He eats a lot though last night I BF him and then gave him a bottle (hoping he sleep a little better) and he drank 2oz. DS#1 was like that too, a big eater.

Okay I have a house that needs to be organized!

Hi! I'm a former July mom turned November mom and I have been popping in for months reading about all of your progress. It's so exciting to see the babies, read the birth stories, etc. and I wanted you to know that I've been celebrating in "lurk mode." Congrats to all the new mommies and the soon-to-be's! :D

Congrats Dana and Polka!
Katie - Our ped gave us a hand out that said for ff 2-4 oz every 3-4 hours. I have been aiming for 3oz every 3 hours. Very rarely has she drank more than 3 oz - once when she slept longer than usual, once when I first switched to ff, and once when I gave her EBM first. With my DH she usually drinks at least 2-3 oz then falls asleep easily with me she'll eat hardly more than 1.5!

wow.. Dana she's beautiful!! Good job!

Thanks Lovelife! Maddy has spit up the couple of times where she drank more than 2 oz.. She usually stops before that.. so I guess she knows better than me. lol

Congrats Polk and Welcome Eli!

A goes back this morning for a bili count to see if the blanket can come off yet. Matt has a full day back at work and a half tomorrow so I'm kind of on my own with 3 kidseek: but my mom is off next week with me so that will help. He slept the best yet last night. he was up every 3 or 3.5 hours to eat. It was great but we still have to get a good way to get him to put himself asleep without my boob:p

Oh my gosh - I am super behind. Just wanted to drop in quickly while I have a moment to say that I successfully gave birth to our son last Friday July 13 without any pain medication by using hypnobirthing. He was a big boy at 8 pounds and 14 ounces and 22 inches long. He was practically back to his birth weight at the peds visit on Tuesday (he was at 8 pounds 13 ounces after being down to 8 pounds 8 ounces at the hospital). He started off being a champion breastfeeder despite having swallowed some meconium that caused him to have to be taken away immediately after birth. My milk came in with full force and that made him a bit angry at first (I know everyone worries about too little milk, but it seriously seemed like I had too much, as he was just getting sprayed all the time and that made him angry), but we are working on it and it is getting better. I hear days 4 - 6 are the worst for bf'ing, so we are almost past that hurdle.

I will have to post a more detailed birth story later.

Congrats to all the new mommies. I gotta run as he is waking up.

Congratulations!! You did an amazing job.. I never could have done it w/o pain meds.

4-6 were some really hard bf'ing days for us.. I wish I had known that was common, I could have relaxed about it a bit more. But luckily things are much better now. Good luck!

Kataza- congrats! no meds. Man you are great. I couldnt have done that
Polka- Eli is beautiful! congrats mama!

Aiden is 8 days today and we still have jaundice:(I so cant wait to be done with this. I think its because I have only BF him with my other two I gave formula too and they kicked the jaundice quicker. Pray tomorrow its better and we can get off the blanket!

QOTD-How much weight did you baby lose?
Aiden lost the most out of all my kids. He lost 13oz. I was in shock. We are slowly putting it back on. I think the ped said 1/2 oz a day they put on.
Have a great day!
Any news from Ceaser?

Lisa.. one of the nurses told me to sit on the couch, watch movies for a day and breastfeed Maddy as much as possible. I guess it comes out in the poop and since bm is a natural laxative the more they drink the more they poop.

Maddy lost 1lb 1oz.. but today it looks like she's about 5oz down from her birthweight.

Another QOTD.. How much weight have YOU lost?

First of all, thanks for all of the congratulations and concern over my absence. I'm so sorry, life has just been incredibly hectic since we came home from the hospital, and I was also forced to deal with some rather unpleasant side effects from the c-section that made my life a living hell for a few days. I just started feeling human again around yesteray. I couldn't even think about getting on the computer. Heck, even taking a shower was tough, time-wise. Anyway, I know there is no way at this point to catch up on SO's. But...

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF OUR NEW MOMMIES AND WELCOME TO THE WORLD ALL OF OUR NEW BABIES!!

It is wonderful to come in here and see all of the pictures and read all of the posts. :D:D All of the babies are just gorgeous and it sure seems like we had a real run of births over the past few days. I had a feeling that would happen.

As far as my little munchkin, she is doing great! Some stats:

Kristianna Rose
Born 7/12/2007 @ 8:52am
9 pounds, 3 ounces
22 inches long
Head circumference; 14 inches

So it turns out that the ultrasounds and technicians were dead on the money with the size estimation. My OB came in to see me and told me she had a whole new respect for me after she lifted the baby out of me and felt how heavy she was; she just couldn't understand how I managed to carry her all of that time with me being so small in stature.

Gosh, I have so much I want to say and am just fumbling around to find the words. I want to do a full birth story but haven't had much time to think about it. I am still in pain from the surgery but am controlling it with pain meds. I am sad to report that although we started out on breastfeeding, I am now exclusively pumping and giving Kristianna EBM. We were just having serious latch issues and to make it more difficult, she would latch and then un-latch multiple times during a feeding, causing me huge pain and interrupting her feeding. And when my milk came in, it came in big, so I was stuck with terrible engorgement as well. Not fun at all. :( At this point, I have no intentions of switching to formula, as long as my supply holds up I will continue on the pumping. Like many other babies here, Kristianna also has jaundice, but so far it hasn't been high enough to warrant special lights or anything. We just have to feed her like crazy. I don't know about anyone else's newborn, but ours is taking 3 to 4 1/2 ounces per feeding, every three hours!! She did lose some weight, but at the pediatrician's on Wednesday, she weighted 8 pounds, 10 ounces, so I figure thats pretty good. We have another appointment on Monday and I can't wait to see how much she weighs then. We are having some issues with nighttime feedings and sleeping patterns. During the day, she feeds and falls asleep; wakes up, repeat. At night, she wakes up, feeds and screams bloody murder. {{sigh}}

All in all, its been one heck of a ride so far. I still can't believe that I am a mommy now. And Kristianna is so beautiful, sometimes I just want to cry when I look at her. Whatever I went through, it was worth it to bring her into this world. I am grateful beyond belief for the gift of her presence in my life and in my marriage. Which leads me to say that I have also been given another wonderful gift and that is watching my DH evolve into the most incredible father and husband, in the space of just a few days. I mean, I always knew he was a great husband. But I see him now in a whole new light and it is amazing. I fell in love with him all over again, on a whole new level, since the birth of our daughter. And I can honestly say that there is no way I could possibly imagine getting through the past week without his support and love. Seriously. He has done stuff for me that I can't even speak about yet without breaking down and crying. 'Nuff said.

So, some pictures. DH is working on another photoshow that I can't wait to share, but in the meantime some peeks at our lil' beauty.

DH made this little birth announcement. We have since picked a different one, but this shows how long her arms and legs are!!

Welcome back Kym! I'm sorry you're having so much pain, hopefully that disappears quickly. I know that makes it much harder to take care of a newborn. Kristianna is gorgeous!

Just quickly trying to catch up with this thread while DS is sleeping...

QOTD: DS went from 8 pounds 14 ounces at birth, to 8 pounds 8 ounces when leaving the hospital on Sunday, by Tuesday at his ped's appointment he was back up to 8 pounds 13 ounces. Yeah, I don't think he has a problem getting enough food.

QOTD 2: well I had gained about 40 pounds during pregnancy, but weighed myself today, and am down around 30. I think I had a ton of water weight at the end. (I packed on the weight at the end).

Sorry no time for SO's.

Hi All, All the babies pictures are too cute! Love all these newborns :D:D

Kazata - you are an inspiration, no pain meds, wow.

Katie - I love how Maddie is sucking her thumb. Lilli finds hers only half the time but gets pretty frustrated when she can't.

Weight loss:
Baby girl: weighed 6lbs 4oz at birth 7/7, left the hospital at 6lbs 7/8, doctor's visit on Tuesday 7/10 6lbs 2.4oz I think she has gained more (hopefully, she looks bigger). She is also long - 21 inches at birth and seems to have grown longer.
Me: I gained 31 lbs and haven't weighed myself since. My upper thighs seem bigger. I am not kidding some of my maternity pants that I wore 1 week before having her don't fit my thighs now. They are swollen!

we had another check up this morning. Aiden;s bili count didnt budge from the other day but he put on some more weight:D he was up 4oz in 2 days. I left him in his oneies this time so I figure that weighed a little. The ped said he is fine and we can discontinue the blanket after monday. We go back again on tuesday. He is out of the woods as far as jaundice is concerned. I guess BFed babies take a little longer to get rid of the jaundice once they have it high like A.

Okay we are taking A out to church with us. Our 1st outing! Have a great weekend

Hi my girls~

The first few days have been great. We are haivng latch issues with breastfeeding but we are getting through them, Brian is actually the one who can help me get him latch on the best. I have such ginourmous bb's that it takes an extra set of hands to get him latched on correctly but other than that, we havent had any problems to speak of, well unless you count mo mother being here from 9 am -9pm every.single.day. I know she means well and is just trying to help, but she thinks that Brian is useless like my brother in law and he isnt. So thats our only complaint. We are way in love with him and he was totally worth the wait.:D

I'll try to get back soon with more pics and some sort of birth story..:D

Question:

Appx. how many hours out of 24 hour day does your baby spend sleeping?

I am home from the hospital, and wanted to announce that our SON, Joshua Ryan was born on 07-18-07 at 08:46 am. He came into this world weighing 9 lbs 7oz and is 21 3/4 inches long. (everyone was surprised how big he was since I only gained 22 lbs!)

Things have been pretty good, BFing isn't as easy this time as it was last time. Josh is a freakin' piranha, his sucking has KILLED my nipples. Plus, it seems that his mouth is too small and my boobs/nipples are too big, not a good combo- - trust me. But we are working through it and now that my milk has come in and I am feeding him about ever hour, he seems to be doing better. My nipples are still really sore, but hopefully they will heal. I also pumped a few times in the hospital... man I forgot how much pumping sucks! But I guess it will be worth it in the end. (I must say, that pumping while at work is the BEST... I found it to be nice break from working!)

Anyways, my recovery seems to be harder this time than last time. It might have something to do with the fact that I spent about 18 hours alone at the hospital everyday. I was moving around a lot more than I did with DS1, which I don't think is a good thing. I need to relax more!!!

Anyways, no time for SOs... there was too much going on while I was gone! Hope everyone is doing well.

How many more babies are we waiting for??? Anyone know?

Katie - the pics of Maddie came out very very nice, she looks so tiny in your DH hands. Also what color are your eyes? They look like the photographer painted them in the pics (very pretty color)
Browneyedgirl - Kieran is a cutey!
How much does baby girl sleep? deep sleep - about 10 (maybe less)
light sleep - about another 8-10 hours (Light sleep) She usually pretends to sleep whenever anyone is holding her, but she will smile and sneak a peek at who it is here and there.

Question:
Appx. how many hours out of 24 hour day does your baby spend sleeping?

Normally I would say probably 18-20. Today though way less! I think me drinking caffeine yesterday had a big effect on him. No more caffeine for this mommy.

Another question-Do any bfing mommies notice anything affecting their babies?

Beevo-I hope you go into labor soon!

To everyone-Great pics and congrats!

I haven't had lots of time to be on the computer and with DH home last week had even less:p. We had lots of family time. This week I am on my own! I will post pics and a birth story sometime this week.

Katie, those pictures are beautiful! How did you find the photographer?

QOTD(s)...
Baby weight... Kieran was 8lbs 7oz at birth, at discharge he was 7lbs 15oz, at his ped appt when he was 4 days old he was 8lbs 4oz.
My weight...I gained 30ish and I'm down 20ish. Of course my tummy is still so poochy.
Sleeping...Ummm, lots. Except for last night...he didn't want to sleep at all.

Does anyone else's babe seem to really struggle with their poops?

Thanks! I think I like the hand pics the best of all..
My eyes are just a bright blue.. I don't know how I ended up with them, because no one else in my family has eyes like mine. Unfortunately Maddy's look like they're turning brown.. :( I would have liked to pass that on to her.

Another question-Do any bfing mommies notice anything affecting their babies?
No.. but my mom did give me a whole list of things she told me I wasn't allowed to eat.. onions, peppers, tomatoes, chocolate (is she kidding??), citrus.. etc. I have however been ignoring the list because those are of course my favorite things. It doesn't seem to bother Maddy at all, but if it did I would cut them out.

BrownEyedGirl
The L&D floor of our hospital has her photos all over the walls. I really liked them and did a search for Thompson's photography on the internet when I got home. We got really lucky because she's literally 1 min away from our house. I really loved her and think she does good work, so we're going to stick with her.

Does anyone else's babe seem to really struggle with their poops?
Nope.. Maddy poops constantly. I'd say 4 times a day, but never very much at once. Is Kieran having hard poop or something? Maddy's is really soft/liquidy (gross I know).

My belly button is disgusting.. My mom saw it this weekend and gasped. :rolleyes: Thanks mom.. that helped.. I'm down 7lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight but my body is so different. I squeezed into my regular jeans today.. but I'd really like them to be looser before I wear them.

BrownEyedGirl
07-23-2007, 02:11 PM
Katie...his poops are liquid/seedy, so they aren't hard...he just grunts and grunts trying to get them out.

how nice of your mom to gasp at your belly button :rolleyes: Sometimes I wonder about mothers...it's like they have no internal censor when it comes to their daughters. (glad I have a boy :p )

Katie&Micah

browneyedgirl - DS somewhat struggles with pooping. He cries for a long time before he poops. The only two faces he makes are "poopie face" and "feed me" face.

Katie - does your incision still hurt? I think you have your c/s a week before me. My KILLS. It is burning/throbbing/stinging a LOT. I hope it gets better really soon. It is so hard to get out of bed in the middle of the night.

Katie&Micah

It sounds like you're having a lot more trouble with your incision than I did. It really only hurt the 1st 2 nights. After that it was maybe a 2 or 3 on a scale of 1-10. I think my fast recovery is pretty rare though.. my dr and nurses seemed surprised at how little pain I was having. But anyways.. I think it was Sunday (had Maddy Tuesday morning) that I felt pretty much normal. I hope your pain goes away soon.. are you still taking the pain meds?

Hi - sorry I've been MIA :) I'm delighted to announce the arrival of our baby GIRL - on July 18 at 2:16am. She was 8 lbs, 1 oz and 19 inches long, and we've named her Brooke. Labor was 24 hours long and HARD. I made it through without any medication, except for at the end, when I had some pitocin to make the contractions closer together so that I could push her out. After 3 hours of pushing, though, I was a little worse for the wear - I burst some blood vessels in my eyes and look pretty bad. But I'm on the mend and we're in love with our little girl!

Today she had her first pediatrician's appointment and she's already above her birth weight! I'm thrilled - breastfeeding has been going well but now that I know this, I can really relax about it.

I will try to catch up on the thread soon - maybe after a nap :)

Hope everyone is doing well. Love all the baby pics!

Ctjo- congrats on Brooke! sorry labor was rough but the end result is well worth it:D

A had his ped appt again this morning to recheck is bili and finally it is lower and we dont need the blanket anymore:D He's almost back to his birth weight. He lost 14oz in the hospital. We have 4 to go! he is doing good at BFing but gets lazy and sleep through half the feeding. I guess I feed him too often and he expects to eat any time he fusses:rolleyes: so now we are working on making he hungry enough not to sleep during it.
SO all is well in the H house.
Have a great day mamas!

Sorry I have been MIA as well. It is amazing how quickly the day passes now and I'm usually just excited if I have showered before 2 p.m.! All of these babies are just adorable!

Kazata- I'd love to hear about your hypnobirthing experience. I also went without meds and would be interested in this for next time. My labor was rather intense and it might be helpful to have some more tools under my belt for next time.

Katie- gorgeous pictures--you are making me wish we had taken some before Taylor got too big!

Lisa- he is a doll! I love the hair. He's got a full head of it. Taylor's hair is pretty similar. I'm amazed at how much hair she has every time I look at her.

Beevo- labor vibes headed your way. Hope you are hanging in there.

Oh- I'm way too behind to get to everyone. I've just loved all the pics.

Taylor is 2 1/2 weeks old and we are doing well. Some days we sleep better than others. We are having some more alert time so that is fun! She keeps her eyes open and watches me while she nurses which I love. DH went back to work yesterday but now my parents are here---so I'm still not on my own.

I get nothing done b/c I don't want to put Taylor down! Luckily, my hormones are starting to even out and so that is nice! I was on a rollercoaster.

Alright. gotta go!

LIsa~ I had to look twice at Aidens picture.,...I thought it was Eli. :eek: They look alike and they both have a full head of hair...I will have to post another pic soon...

We had our first ped appointment today, Eli had lost some weight before we left the hospital but today he was back up to 7lbs exactly...so only 4 oz to go to get backt o his birth weight. She checked him out, and said he was perfect...I agree...although I think I am biased ;)

I actually asked to use the scale in the office since we dont own one, the nurse was so funny, she said no one ever asks to use the scale...I am down 17lbs. I have 11lbs to go to get back to my pre-pg weight. I dont think that is too bad....seems like its an attainable goal I was scared at the end that I was gaining too much and it would be too hard to get it off but heres to hoping....:D

ok...the monkey is hungry...later mommas!

Hi guys!! I can't believe its taken me soo long to post. I see Yota posted our big news last week when Ali was born. THANK YOU!

So I should return the favor:

6lbs 11oz
(I can't get into LJ to post a pic.)

She went to the hospital yesterday to check on the fluid levels. They were low and she was having minor contractions so they admitted her. They induced her labor with pitocin and she arrived soon after, and only pushed 3 contractions! I talked to her today and they were either coming home tonight or tomorrow.

~~~~~~~
Ali is 6 days old and just a doll! I had a repeat csection so its been quite the recovery but Im finally getting better. I've had the worst headache ever but its almost gone now. We came home on Saturday and things are just starting to get into a routine. My dad came Monday and today to help. It was wonderful. Tomorrow is my OB appt and Friday is Ali's. I can't believe she will be a week old! I guess I will repost her stats. I think there were a lot of bdays that day.
She's a great baby though. She sleeps 4-5 hours at night! I'm BFing, but also FFing because my milk just isn't coming in. I had the same issue with my son. I just BF her first give her the formula when I know shes starving. I love BFing her, I wish it would just work this time!
Landen is a great big brother. He's not jealous at all. I can't believe it. He doesn't want to do much with her but I'll take it!
wow- no mommies in this neighborhood lately! We must all be exhausted with our newborns!
Not much is going on here. We have to take DS back to the peds today to get his weight checked. I am pretty sure he has gained a lot of weight. He feels heavier to me! :)
He is a really good sleeper. I usually feed him at 12 (midnight) and at 4 and then again between 7 and 8! Not too bad. I think he is a cluster feeder... cause then from 8ish on, he eats at least once an hours or like 3 or 4 hours and then goes back to sleeping for 3-4 hours at a time. Hopefully this won't kill my supply (or my nipples!)
My DH is getting LASIK today. The whole thing freaks me out. I hope it goes well! I just can't imagine having someone mess with my eyes!!!
Hope everyone is doing will with their babies!!
wow Lauren.. he has tons of hair!! I'm so jealous!
I think I started pumping 5 days after I had Maddy.. but I'm not positive on that. I've been using the medela bags that I got when I bought my pump, but I'm almost out so I bought some of the gerber bags since they're SO much cheaper. They work fine, but don't freeze as flat as the medela ones do. I had originally bought the Avent Via storage containers, but there is no way I could use only those, I've got 45 bags in the freezer already and there just wouldn't be room for 45 of the via containers.
I am only pumping to relieve pain right now. I don't want to increase my supply where I have to pump, you know? Especially with me not going back to work for another 2.5 months. I've used those Madela storage bags to freeze what I do have though.
With my first I started pumping at 10 days.
Everyone's baby's are so beautiful! I'll try and be back later for SO's - just wanted to say hello. I was a posting fool when I was in labor and then disappeared! As moho116 posted for me, I wound up needing a c-section after all (baby boy just would not descend and was sunny-side up) - so I have not really been able to get to the computer. We have a three story house - computer is in the basement - and I'm supposed to limit the stairs so I think yesterday was the first time I made it down here.
We got home late afternoon last Saturday and Seth's bris was at our house on Wednesday so we finally have some time to settle into a bit of a routine (not that there is one)
I don't have pics on photobucket yet (are there any other sites we can use?) so I've added one of Seth from Thursday as my avatar.
I still can't believe our little surprise was a BOY! (DH's first words upon hearing it was a boy were "I'm in shock!")
I'll try to be back soon - congrats to all of the new mommas and the beautiful babies!
Cute pics in here!
We are just getting home from a weekend up north. Ali is just the sweetest thing ever and still sleeping 4-7 hours at a time at night! I took her to the PED on Friday, 9 days old, and she was 7.13, so she had gained 6oz in 6 days from being discharged. She was only 1 oz from birth weight so shes doing great. congrats MONI Welcome Trevor!!!
We had DS' baptism yesterday. It was nice. We were the only ones there (no other babies) so it was somewhat fast, which is good when you have a 2 yo too! DS1 was pretty good, he was too cute, when we were on the alter, he tried to blow out the candles that were like 6 feet away from him. lol
My ILs left... but now my mom is here. Ahhhh, my mother.... the first thing she said to me.. before she even gave me a hug and said congrats... is that I still have a lot of weight to lose. UMMMM, thanks mom.... I just gave birth 10 days ago!!! Then she went on to complain about DS1 watching movies. She sure complains a lot, but isn't willing to help out and play with him. It is going to be a long week!!
BFing is going a lot better. We were doing really well, feeding at least 15 minutes on each side, but now he is back to snacking, only 5 minutes or so. I don't know how to get him to eat more! But it isn't painful anymore, and he is doing a lot better at latching on :)
Hope everyone has a good week!!!
Congratulations Moni!!
So do we have all of our babies now? How wonderful!!
Things with Madeline are going great. She's now sleeping in 4 hour stretches at night.. Which her Mommy loves! lol She's eating really well, in fact I think she must be going through a growth spurt right now.
This is the only smiley pic we've captured with the camera so far.. Taken at about 2 weeks.
Katie- too cute! Maddy is adorable!
Twainny- sorry about your mom. I think they mean well but they can be a bit overwhelming.
Us- Aiden is doing pretty good. We are still fighting sleeping during the day and up at night. We are up from 12-3am:rolleyes: He was being cute though;) A has a little cold from his brothers:( but the ped said dont worry about it unless he starts to run a fever. He has gained over a lb in 2 weeks. I think we might be starting a growth spurt, he wants to eat every 2 hours!
All the babies are gorgeous!
Thanks Lisa..
Do you have any new Aiden pics? :D I love seeing all the babies! Wow.. that's great weight gain!! Keep up the good work!
Twainny.. That sounds really hard. Moms sometimes say things that make you wonder what the heck is going through their heads. I think they're so close to us they forget that they still need to censor things.
Hi girls...we just got finished taking Eli's newborn pics. I am so excited I *think* they turned out really well. She said she would a proof CD ready for me as early as tomorrow, so that makes me really happy. That way we can get started on the annoucements too. I will post pics as soon as I get them....
Bfing is still going well...Eli has started to sleep a little longer...about 3- 31/2 hours instead of every 2 so that is easier on me...but i know that the 3 weeks growth spurt is just around the corner...;)
We go to the doctor on Wednesday for his 2 weeks checkup to make sure he is gaining weight like he is suposed too...I cant believe my baby will be 2 weeks old on wednesday...amazing how time flies by so quickly..
lol..
We chat about how beautiful all the babies are! And the girls are so darn cute Michelle!
What should we chat about?
Maddy is starting to sleep in 4 hour stretches at night. It's wonderful, but I wake up leaking milk all over the place. I'm really grossed out by my leaking breasts. Grossed out and fed up. I know I shouldn't be.. but it makes me feel really icky.
It's rare we get 4 hours of straight sleep around here... in fact in the past few days they've gone back to waking every 3 hours again. I think we're hitting the 6w growth spurt. I can't believe my girls are six weeks old already.
Katie&Micah
Maddy will be 3 weeks old tomorrow and that shocks the heck out of me.
Do they sleep at the same time? It must be heaven if they do.. otherwise you're always awake with someone and that would be incredibly exhausting.
yeah, they are still (knock on wood) both pretty much on the same schedule, thank goodness. But when I'm alone with them all day, and DH and I do the night feedings in shifts, it takes about an hour to get everyone changed and fed. So that still dosen't leave much time between.
and with that... I'm off to warm up the midnight bottles...
Hi everyone!
Congrats on all the babies! The pictures are all adorable. Also thanks to Katie for posting the birth of our little girl. Her name is Allison Genevieve and she was born on 7/18 via c-section because about 8 hours into the induction her heart rate started to drop with each contraction. So they turned the pitocin off for about an hour, her heart rate regulated and stayed fine after they turned it back on but labor never progressed passed 5 centimeters and she never dropped.
Recovery has been going well. I have not been on in a while b/c like everyone else I am super busy. This is my first week without help, last week I felt bad getting on the computer with someone here helping me. Things are going good, I am very surprised over the lack of downtime I have - I thought she would be sleeping more during the day giving me a little of a break to be able to do housework or laundry or something.
Breastfeeding got off to a rough start but we are working on it and doing better each day. She did not want to latch on at all when we were in the hospital so the nurses gave her formula b/c of her size (she was only 5 lbs 14 oz at birth). I pumped after we got home so she got breastmilk from a bottle. We then progressed to nipple shields and now she latches directly on to the breast.
Hope everyone and their babies are doing well!
I'm so glad to hear the breastfeeding is getting better! Post some pics when you can!
QOTD: What do you all do with your baby during the day?
Maddy hates her bouncer and doesn't seem impressed yet by any of the toys we have for her. So mostly I wear her around the house in the sling or hold her.. sometimes we lay on the couch together and watch t.v. But overall I find that she sleeps most of the time and if she's not sleeping she lays around and practices her kicking/moving arms and hands and seems pretty content. I guess I'm feeling the opposite of j2478 in that I have nothing to do. I have plenty of time to keep the house clean and cook for dh because DD is so easy. I feel like I should be doing more, but I'm not sure what to do to entertain her.
let alone 1 while the other is screaming/waiting her turn.
Yup, that's the key right there. Sometimes I get lucky and one sleeps while ther other is eating. But that's getting less and less often these days.
QOTD: What do you all do with your baby during the day?
My girls still sleep a TON. Seriously, I'm almost starting to worry that they're sleeping too much. We all get up for the day around 8 and they have bottles, then I put them in the bouncers and they are asleep again within 10 minutes. They wake up between 11 and 12 and eat again, then back in the bouncers and alseep again until bottles again around 4. (Which is when daddy gets home, yay!!) The routine repeats again with feedings at 8pm, midnight, and 4am. I guess altogether they are awake about 6 hours a day, 5 of which are spent eating. On the few occasions they are awake for longer than 10 minutes at a time, I put them down for tummy time on the gym mat, which they are actually starting to like. Well, not like they're actually interested in any of the toys or anything, but they're somewhat content to lay there without screaming.
So yeah, I sort of know how you feel, Katie. I don't really do anything to 'entertain' them because they're hardly awake and if they are they're just not interested.
ETA: Our nursery is finally finished and I took some quick pics last night so I though I'd share. It's not much, but I love our bedding:
QOTD: What do you all do with your baby during the day?
Well we have had lots of visitors so he has been held a lot, but if someone isnt holding him, then he is in his bouncy seat, or sleeping in the boppy...
alliannie
07-31-2007, 12:57 PM
QOTD:
Honestly each day is different. Some days he is very active and some days he sleeps. Days he is active are generally spent keeping him happy(Mostly holding him). Days he is sleepy are much better and they are spent with him sleeping in his bouncy/swing/boppy. Sleepy days we get things done.
Question-Blake is still really not on a schedule. We don't eat say every 2 or every 4 hours. Definitly every 2-4 but not normal. Should I work on this? I feed on demand because well it makes him and me happier but I wonder if I should get more of a schedule going? We are still bfing and ffing. We do about 50/50 which maybe makes a difference.
Okay I still promise I will post pics soon. We don't get much computer time since most days Blake is pretty demanding!
Katie&Micah
07-31-2007, 01:11 PM
Are you mixing the breast milk and formula or nursing sometimes and giving formula sometimes?
Because breast milk is digested faster than formula so that would explain why he eats at different intervals depending on what he has eaten.
alliannie
07-31-2007, 01:31 PM
We are not mixing them. We generally nurse during the day unless we are out and about then we do formula. At night we do a mix of both or just nurse. I actually think he gets more like 80%bm and 20%formula. Probably 3 bottles a day maybe? I think I give the bottle more than I should even after nursing because I worry if he his getting enough.:o
I thought of what you said but it doesn't seem to equal out to what he eats. Like right now he nursed at 12:30 and is still sound asleep(about 2 hours). This morning when we were out he ate formula at 8:30 and by 10:30 was starving. Should I try and be more consistent at when I feed him each? Our schedule is just always so different that I have been bad at that. I don't generally nurse when we are out because he takes forever to nurse normally(though this is getting better!).
Annie - we are not on a feeding schedule per say, I started off bf on demand then switched to ff the same. she eats when she wants, sometimes a lot sometimes a little, it seems to work out to about 3oz every 3 hours, but if she eats only 1oz then she is ready again in 1 hour or less - at nights I try to do everything possible to get her to eat at least 2 oz so we can sleep for longer stretches.
QOTD: What do you all do with your baby during the day?
I have had tons of visitors which was/ is good for getting things done but not so good about helping Lilli find nap time ok. She tolerates the bobby pillow, pack n play and tummy time mat while awake and not trying to fall asleep - if someone is there playing along side her. She has been awake a lot more recently in the day time "playing" - she'll explore her fingers and try to grab at things and stare at anything. The other day I propped her on the bobby near the vertical blinds and she watched them as I made them move.
My biggest problem: She will not sleep in her bassinet pack n play or crib for naps -- right now I am holding her while she sleeps. I keep on joking that I need a sling to carry her around in for naptimes, serious she sleeps good now at nights for the most part in her bassinet, I can even put her down when she is drowsy and she'll fall asleep on her own after overnight eating. If I put her down for a nap she wakes up within 5 minutes screaming. What gives??
Michelle I like bedding and room and the girls picture. I cannot believe they are 6weeks old. how do you get two babies feed and changed and back to sleep in 1 hour? that's how long it takes me with 1 baby.
Lisa - Lilli was the same with nights/ days I just don't really talk to her much at nighttime. Does A need your constant attention during the overnight or does he just lay awake? Lilli woke up at 5am to eat/ change this am then became fascinated by a painting on our wall, so I moved the bassinet closer to it and she coo'd away while I fell back asleep. the 1st 2 weeks though she needed me or dh to hold her.
I cannot believe my baby is 23 days old, wow, days have been flying by. Her is a more recent picture of herhttp://http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w268/Lovelifelivelove/DSC01098.jpg sorry it is so big
Michelle - You definitely have your hands full. I remember when my brother had his twins, and they had a 2 year old, it was pretty crazy. You are doing great!
Jen - That is great that you've stuck with BFing despite the issues. I keep chugging along too. I don't know how much shes getting but I don't mind doing both BM and formula.
QOTD - Well, I'm either holding her, nursing her, giving her a bottle or she's sleeping/sitting in the boppy. She loves that thing, we use it for everything!
Don't stone me but Ali is such a good night sleeper! She slept last night from like 10p to 3:30a, then she nursed briefly back to sleep, same at 5:30a, and then she got up about 10:30a! She didn't have any formula all night and that just seems crazy to me. She must be getting more from me now.
LDS I LOVE the bedding.... I love it so much that's what Jocelyn has in her room. :) I'll have to post pictures of her room. I LOVE it. I want to hang her quilt as well but haven't a clue how to get it up there. What did you use?
Update on us I have but a few minutes to post b/c Miss Jocelyn needs to eat in about 15 minutes.
breastfeeding Been an uphill battle but we seemed to have turned a corner. We've been going to the Lactation consultant each Tuesday and Thursday for either help or a weight check ever since she was 5 days old. At first our latch was suspect and she helped w/ that. Recently she's been helping us get her weight up. While it was less concerning b/c she was SOOO big at birth (9 lb 14 oz) it was concerning that at 2 weeks (this past Sat) she was still close to 1 pound down. :( Now, today at the weight check she was back up to 9 lb 4 oz :) so she gained 7 ounces in 5 days. YAY. We've been using a syringe to feed an additional 20 ML of expressed breast milk at each feeding. B/C her gain was so good we'll go down to one syringe (10 ML) at each feeding for a week and see how that goes. We have to go for a weight check w/ the Ped tomorrow I hope she's happy w/ our progress. I'm pleased.
sleeping Our girl sleeps well at night. Knock on wood. That's part of our problem. She'll easy sleep 5-7 hours so that's a big stretch of time that she's not getting any additional calories
Me Recovery went well. Feeling more and more human each day. I'm anxious to get to working out. I'd lost 50 pounds before getting pg and then managed to gain most of that back w/ the pregnancy :( I'm ready to start loosin' the LBS again.
Love all the pics, ladies! I owe a more recent one of Miss Jocelyn. I'll try and do that soon. Love on your little ones. They change so rapidly
aliannie, re: schedule Our girls are sort of on a schedule, but it's not very exact. Most of what I've read has said to not to try to force a schedule until around 4 months or so. It is true that brestmilk digests faster so most people say it's easier to get FF babies on a schedule than BF babies. But like anything else, I just say go with whatever works for you and your baby.
how do you get two babies feed and changed and back to sleep in 1 hour?
Well, it hasen't always been that quick. They usually finish their 3 or 3.5 oz bottles in about 15 minutes, in the very beginning it took 30 min. to finish 2oz. As far as getting them back to sleep, I'm lucky if they stay awake long enough to finish eating...
MommaO Thanks for the compliment on the bedding. :) You totally should post pics of yours. The quilt is kind of ghetto-rigged up there, we actually bought clips that had suction cups on them and took the suction cups off and just screwed the clip to the wall with a long screw.
Well, the girls are fed and almost asleep and here I am online. :rolleyes: For some reason I've become an insomniac over the past few days.
Thanks for those that posted they aren't on a schedule either. Makes me feel a bit better:). Breastfeeding has been a bit of a confusion last night and today. After eating for awhile he gets really upset and will scream and cry but never really unlatch. If he does he latches right back on(himself!). I think I might post in the bfing thread because I don't know what is wrong.
LDS-I can't imagine doing this with two kids! I think you are amazing. And to think my DH wants twins!
MommaO-I can't wait to work out either. I would go walk at the park already if it was so freaking hot out. I feel the need to lose weight too!
Well he is waking up again after a whole 20 min nap...all he wants to do this morning is nurse(and scream will nursing!).
for those of you giving boththe bottle and the breast how are your babies doing with it? Is there really nipple confusion? I have a wedding to go to on Saturday and the plan was for me not to go b/c i thought it was too early to give E a bottle. I dont want to screw up the good thing we have going? SO anyone have any advice?
He will eventually HAVE to take a bottle when I go back to work in November so I am trying to build up my freezer stash and I know i need to intro the bottle i just dont know when to start or how many feedings to offer it to him.
thanks in advance
Maddy has been taking bottles of EBM since day 5. She also uses a couple different kinds of pacifiers and has no problems. She'll take anything you put in her mouth basically! It seems like hardly any babies actually have nipple confusion.. but it sure is warned against quite a bit.
It seems like hardly any babies actually have nipple confusion.. but it sure is warned against quite a bit.
I agree with this. I know lots of people who breastfeed and give bottles and none have problems. I think it is rare but warned against since if it did happen it could ruin the bfing relationship. Does E take pacifers? I would think if he could take one he could take a bottle?(though I don't really know!)
yes, he does take a pacifier, and had willingly taken it since we were in the hospital, that why I feel like it shouldnt be a big deal if I do give him a bottle I think he will take to it just like he did the pacifier...I guess i will give it another week, then intro the bottle...
Wow Twainny.. what exactly was she there for?? I bet you're glad to finally have everyone gone.
I'm starting to wonder if Madeline has reflux or maybe some kind of milk sensitivity. The past week she's started spitting up more and more (from not spitting up at all) and it's now gotten to the point of 10 or 12 times a day. She's also been pretty fussy the past 2 or 3 days. I'm going to my mom's today to visit so I'm going to ask her if what I'm seeing is normal behavior or maybe something's wrong. In the meantime I'm going to cut out dairy which is going to be *really* hard for me. I drink massive amounts of milk.
Morning ladies :)
I have a fun QOTD What nicknames do you call your DC?
I use sweet pie, pumpkin, little one, baby girl, and lovebug interchangably for both girls. And fussypants when they're being, well, fussy. ;) When I'm trying to distinguish between them it's Miss Natalie and Miss Megan.
EDIT- Ok, ok, I'll post a few pics :D
(Natalie is the sleeping one. ;))
Hi Everyone!
Sorry - I am one of the one's who doesn't post as often anymore. I just don't seem to know yet how to find the time. Allison was very fussy Saturday evening and almost all day yesterday. DH and I tried all day yesterday to calm her down. We had pizza for dinner on Saturday, DH thinks maybe that didn't agree with her (through breastfeeding) and maybe that was the cause of the fussiness. She will be 3 weeks on Wednesday, I thought maybe it was that 3 week growth spurt.
It is so stinkin hot around here. We have had consistent over 90 degree days. I am so tired of being stuck in the house all day long. Does everyone else get out a lot with their babies?
QOTD? Little bugger (DH made this one up), little one, sweetheart.
Such beautiful babies!!
I call Madeline Maddy, piglet or honey. My mom calls her poopie.. don't ask me why..
I don't know what happened but my wonderful sleeper lost it.. she's now sleeping like she was the first few days.. which is not much!
It is 90+ here also. We haven't been getting out much either. We try and see family in the evenings with DH so at least we get out some. I hope after this week it cools down. I would love to be able to get out and go walk at the park or well do something!!
I'm still here! I read faithfully but DD does not like to be put down so I'm holding her most of the day. We're slowly getting the hang of it, though. We can get short stints in the bouncer and swing and until today she hasn't liked any of the carriers I have. . . so she's wanted to be held but not put in a carrier. That makes it so hard to do anything! Today she is sleeping in her mei tei and I'm thrilled to have found a carrier she likes (good thing I stocked up on a variety b/c she hasn't liked the others!)
We are so enjoying Taylor, though, and every day is just so amazing. She slept for 5 hours the other night but hasn't had a repeat performance yet. DH can sleep through everything at night and I wake at the slightest noise! The time Taylor slept for 5 hrs I woke almost every hour to check on her b/c I wasn't used to sleeping for so long.:rolleyes:
Taylor smiled on Friday! It was so amazing. I thought that perhaps I had imagined it but then she smiled at me again. And DH got a smile on Sunday for the first time. He got another one today when she first woke up. It's too cool. We have yet to catch it on the camera but we are working on it.
All of the photos are so cute. Everyone is just adorable.
Worth the Wait onesies are definitely at Target---I got one for DD.
So, to catch up on QOTDs:
QOTD What nicknames do you call your DC? Sweet pea, Miss Taylor, Baby Girl, Sweet Baby Taylor. . .I think that's it.
QOTD: Who is fitting into their old clothing again?
Well, I'm just 5 lbs above my pre-pregnancy weight and I look pretty much back to normal except for a bit of a poochy stomach. But things are not the same. I don't think my hips have gone back to normal yet so my pants don't fit very well. I'm still crossing my fingers b/c it's not weight to lose that is the issue---it's wide hips (which were pretty wide to start with!) I bought some cheap capris at Target and have been wearing those so far.
QOTD: What do you all do with your baby during the day?
We've started getting more awake time so we do tummy time and I sing to her and read books. We have a mirror that she loves to look at. Sometimes we just talk. She likes to stare at me so we just have conversations! It's so fun now that she is more awake.
Now that we are getting into the swing of things, I'll try and post more.
Hi Everyone! Like gator I have been reading along but not quite able to post (due to holding someone the majority of the day :))
I Love everyone's pictures
QOTD: What nicknames do you call your DC? Usually baby girl, Lilli or Lil, peanut or Mama's sweetheart
QOTD: Who is fitting into their old clothing again? I think I posted this previously but my pants still aren't fitting right. My maternity pants were too tight on my thighs right after. The maternity ones fit now and so do some of my regular ones they are just tighter on the thighs then they probably should be.
QOTD: What do you all do with your baby during the day? Lots more awake time, she loves to check out things now. We don't have a bouncer or a swing yet and she only tolerates the bobby pillow for short time periods. She loves when people hold her or staring at the turtle mobile in her crib. We have started increasing tummy time but she isn't too amused by laying there kicking her feet and being able to go nowhere.
Smiling I think Lilli has been smiling from almost the second week, my doctor told us that she was testing her face muscles. I will try to catch one on the camera later on so far they all turned out blurry (it is always after eating or before sleeping)
Some pictures for now:
Somewhat of a smile
Yesterday was my first day alone with DS. It was nice to be alone and be lazy!! He did give me a nice double hit... he went both peepee and poops without a diaper on... that was so NOT cool of him! LOL
I haven't tried on any of my pre-pregancy clothes on, so I dont know if they will fit. I doubt it. I am wearing mostly sport shorts, with elastic waists :) I am down to my pre-pregancy weight, which my DH says doesn't say much about my weight. I admit, I need to loose another 20+ lbs, but really, how am I suppose to get any exercise when it is going to be 100 degrees outside for the next few days???
Lisa- I also have the "automatic sprinkler" onesie, a co-worker gave it to me. I swear they run super small... the 3-6 month one that we have is super tight on DS, but all the other onesies he wears are 0-3 month.
I am been mostly shopping with DS everyday. He sleeps through all of it, which is really nice. Now that I am alone, we probably won't go shopping nearly as much. He likes to sleep in the bouncer and the swing. When he is awake, I am usually holding him... I wish he would be awake and by himself, so I could get stuff done. I am trying to take at least one nap a day while he is sleeping.
Hope everyone is surviving the heat!!
Katie&Micah
I'm trying to figure out how to exercise in this heat too. All I want to do is sit around and snack because I'm bored. I really need to get out of the house or I'm going to gain all this weight back.
Does everyone else get out a lot with their babies?
It has been so hot here as well. It stinks staying in the house all day but besides for shopping and going out to eat there is not too much else to do. Whenever DH gets home from work I have been feeling so cooped up I always suggest going to get dinner - I think we may go broke!
DD does not sleep well while out so yesterday DH had off and we spent the majority of the day running around various places DD is exhausted still today. She slept from 11pm-3am then again until 7am then again until 10am and she is sleeping again now (she won't let me put her down this time though)
Has anyone taken their DC swimming yet?
Lisa
Has anyone taken their DC swimming yet?
yes but not for all and b/c his brothers were getting swim lessons :)
Aiden was to have a 4 week check up but instead had a sick appt :( he has been really nasally so we went to the peds. He thinks he is either refluxing b/c he is eating too much. He gained 11 oz in 7 days:p piggy! but I think he is right he coughs while he is eating. so I'm only feeding him on one side and we'll see. I sometimes give him a bottle of formula at night so I can sleep so if i give him it, it needs to be a special one the ped gave me. Other than that we are all good. A is my joy, I love him so much. All the babies are so cute. I love being a mommy (again:D)
I've been thinking of taking DD swimming but didn't know if I should or not. Right now we settle for baths in the big tub with mommy.
We got Maddy's social security card in the mail Saturday and her birth certificate today!! The birth certificate has her foot prints on the back in ink which is nice because I never got to see them at the hospital. Very exciting to see things in print with her name on them.
Swimming - I think the babies are too little to really go swimming. I do know that we put DS1's feet in the lake when he was about 3 months old, but he HATED it. And I don't think that the babies should be outside in the sun/heat/humidity.
I am trying to make DS's birth announcement. I wish I was better at Photoshop. I have been working at it for over an hour and I only have like one thing done. My mom would have been done by now (she is a photoshop expert). I think I need to take more pictures. I want a picture of DS1 kissing DS2's head. I have one, but DS1 moves so fast, the picture is blurry (of DS1's head! LOL) I want to have the announcement completed by the 18th! That gives me 11 days! I don't know if I can do it or not LOL
Hi ladies,
I skimmed the thread so I can say I'm another of the non-posting moms - hope to be back soon! We got a laptop and wireless router over the weekend so I hope to be able to hop on more often. With the computer in our basement and our bedroom on the second (really third) floor - and all of the baby stuff on the second and third floors - well, I rarely make it to the computer - especially b/c of the c-section recovery. I'm supposed to limit the times I do stairs and some days I can definitely tell if I have done too much.
We're doing ok here - starting to get over the day/night confusion we had going on - man, was that killing us (Scott and I) for a few days/nights.
Trying to jump in the shower now- the little man was sleeping peacefully till a telemarketer phone call woke him up (ugh - other times he has slept through the phone) - so I'm going to see if I can grab a little more quiet time to shower (so I'd better get off here!)
Be back later - everyones kids look great and sounds like everyone is doing really well.
Lisa - I hope A recovers quickly from his cold!
We're headed back to the doc ourselves for a weight check this afternoon.
Have a great day all!
Swimming-Never thought about it actually. I might consider trying it out if it wasn't so hot. Right now its not even an option with record breaking high tempatures. I doubt he would like it though. He screams blood murder when we give him a bath.
Katie-When you bath with your DD do you just hold her? We are thinking baths might go easier if you bathes with on of us. But I don't know what to do:confused: I feel silly saying that too!
Glad to see updates from some missing mommies! I understand you guys are busy. Oh gotta go DS waking up.
Half of the time I hold her head and she sort of floats in the water. Some of the time I have her laying on my legs with her head towards my feet and her feet at my stomach. That's how I hold her when I wash her. It's wonderful. She really loves the water and it's much more fun than leaning over the tub or dealing with the baby tub. Just beware.. she did poop on me once.. lol But that's not bad considering how many times we had no incidences.
Miss Madeline let her mom get 4 hours of sleep in a row last night! Then I got a chunk of 3 more hours. Good girl must have known I was about to die of exhaustion!
We also had her weighed today (1 month old) and she weighs 8lbs 8oz! My little girl is starting to chunk up. Hopefully soon we can move out of the premie/newborn outfits and into some 0-3 month stuff before the season changes!!
happy one month birthday Madeline...I cant wait for Eli to gain some more weight too...we have so much 0-3 months stuff that he doesnt fit in, but its all so cute I want him to wear it :D
Eli has been letting me sleep 3-4 hour streches at a time at night...mostly, although I probably just jinxed it ;)
For those of you exclusivley Bfing...how many times does DS/DD eat in a 24 hour period. I know all the books say they should eat 8-12 times, but Eli has been sleeping longer streches,so we are only getting 7 feedings in 24 hours, he is very content when he finishes, and he is having enough wet and dirty diapers so I guess its ok....anyone else having this issue?
Katie&Micah
08-08-2007, 12:08 PM
Eli has been letting me sleep 3-4 hour streches at a time at night...mostly, although I probably just jinxed it
I hope not.. lol but this is what happened to me. I got too cocky about the wonderful sleeping habits of my child so she decided to give me a week of no sleep to teach me a lesson! lol
I have no idea how often she eats.. pretty much every 2 hours during the day (you could almost set a clock by this) and depending on her night time habits it could be every 4 hours or every hour and a half.
As long as he's peeing and pooping he's doing good! When Maddy wasn't getting enough to eat in the beginning she wasn't having wet diapers.. We had a day where she only had 3 in 24 hours. Her lips were also really dry and peeling. But once my milk came in that went away.
Annie - My sister and her DH used to hold my nephew in the shower to bath him. I always wash Lilli's hair first outside the tub then quick dry it with a dry washcloth and then a quick wash in the baby tub.
Polkadot - as long as he is having wet diapers and is gaining weight he should be getting enough
Us - we had to switch Lilli's formula this past weekend due to her being consipated. Poor baby was in pain. I brought her to the dr. for that and found out she also has thrush - even after I asked the dr. to check at the last visit 1 week ago and he said no it's just formula - idiot it was thrush just like I thought. Now she has to take some medicine as well. She has been gaining weight like crazy though, weighed 8lbs 6 oz at her visit (6lbs 4oz birth) and all of her nb clothes with feet are way too small. I put a little pant suit on her today and now they are capri's.
Thanks for the advice on baths! I think we might try that later today. I told DH what you guys said and he goes that seems so obvious why didn't we think of it. Ah new parents:p.
Well we discovered the hard way that DS doesn't agree with tomatoes. I had tomato heavy spaghetti last night and he puked and was fussy. He is now asleep in his hotsling pouch. He has been awake since 5:45am and from 3 to then he was not really sleeping just fussy but in his bed. He finally ate without puking at about 10.
Eating habits-Well we do both formula and breastmilk but he eats during the day every 2-3 hours and at night about 3-4 hours. I have been keeping track of it so I see when and how much of each he gets.
Katie&Micah
alliannie..
When my mom was here helping out she gave me a whole list of things to avoid eating when breastfeeding. Of course everything I love is on the list.. tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, beans, citrus, anything spicy, chocolate, limit milk. I honestly feel like there isn't anything left for me to eat. So I'm still eating chocolate and milk.. but trying to limit them. As for the other stuff.. I just suffer and eat lots of pb&j and cereal. I can't wait until her tummy gets a little more developed so I can start eating some of the good stuff again.
alliannie
08-09-2007, 12:09 PM
Katie- We have that list but my mom and sister both said they could eat anything so I hate tomotoes. Ugh. I learned my lesson. I still eat milk and chocolate too. Just not all those gassy vegtables. I eat lots of cereal too. Glad I am not the only one!!
Polkadot - wow... that is awesome!! Eli is too cute... You picked a great name! :) Okay, I am a little biased!
You also asked about BFing... I think I nurse DS about 30 times a day! I swear, whenever he is awake he is on the boob! It is exhausting! He is a cluster feeder.. he sleeps long stretches (during the day of course), then he nurses like none-stop for a couple hours then will sleep another long stretch.
I haven't changed anything that I am eating. I never had to with DS1, and I figure if DS2 has issues, I will look at my diet at that time. I do remember with DS1, I drank a Mountain Dew when he was like 2 weeks old and he was like super mad/hyper after I nursed him! I didn't have any more Mountain Dew for a long time after that LOL.
So I was at the grocery store yesterday and some lady told me that I need to dress DS warmer and she proceeded to take his blanket and try to tuck it around him (it had been around him, but he kicked it off). I swear. I don't think that he needs to be warmer, it is a 100 degrees outside! He only had the blanket cause of the air conditioning inside and being in the fridge/freezer sections at the store. I guess cause I look like I am a lot younger than I am, she thought I needed some "advice". She would probably freak out if she knew DS is sleeping on him stomach right now!!! (he only sleeps on his stomach during the day, it
