Ruth Graham, the wife of evangelist Billy Graham, who supported her famous husband as he spread the Gospel to millions but dispelled the notion of the demure preacher's wife with her humor, spunk, poetry-writing and motorcycle riding, died Thursday at her home in Montreat, N.C., from complications of pneumonia. She was 87.

We have her to thank for convincing her husband NOT to run for President! :)

i don't know much about her, but it made me sad just for the fact that i can't imagine the sadness of losing my dh after 60 plus years of marriage. it will be a tough transition for billy graham to live life without her after so many years of what appeared to be a happy and healthy marriage.

when i saw her more mature pix on the news, i thought she fit the picture of "aging gracefully" - another thread here. she was a beautiful woman even in her 80's.

That she was. She was a very beautiful woman, who really seemed to enjoy life. I think it's interesting how we didn't hear much about her as opposed to what usually happens with an outspoken public figure's spouse.
