Yay!! O.k. well, It's a little too early for me- as I have one more week to go before the 2nd trimester, but wanted to post to say HELLO!
Also, to add that my next doctor's appointment is on August 9 - same as Mindy's! I'm hoping to hear the heartbeat. Anyone else know what happens on second appointment? This is my first one with the doctor.

Hi ladies
Obviously I'm not yet in the second trimester, but I'm hoping it comes along fast and this evil morning sickness will stop.
I haven't been posting much, mainly lurking for a few reasons. Major reason is that I'm finding it hard to accept that this is real and I really am pregnant. It's taken 2.5yrs to get to this point and I'm concerned something will go wrong and I'll have to go back to IVF and blah blah blah, you name it, I'll worry about it.
First OB appt is on Friday so it'll be nice to get that reassurance. I also have my CVS next week and I'm waiting for the results of that before I get too excited also.
So I'm lurking here, wishing everyone the best and I hope I'll be posting here like a madwoman soon ;)

Yay!! O.k. well, It's a little too early for me- as I have one more week to go before the 2nd trimester, but wanted to post to say HELLO!
Also, to add that my next doctor's appointment is on August 9 - same as Mindy's! I'm hoping to hear the heartbeat. Anyone else know what happens on second appointment? This is my first one with the doctor.
LooLoo, I'm in the same boat as you! :D hitting the 2nd tri next week and I'm hoping to hear the heartbeat soon too.
Just wanted to say I love the title of this thread!! It brought a smile to my face when I saw it. I still can't believe it(and I still can't believe I'm pregnant sometimes!). :D
Have a good day everyone!

I'm a little shy of the 2nd tri too, but of course, that won't stop me from posting here. :D

Congrats on 12 weeks! It is quite a milestone (at least in my mind)!

I still can't believe it sometimes either. But I am sure when our little ones are kicking us like mad, we'll have no doubt!
LooLoo
At my second appointment, they took a urine sample, blood pressure, and tried to find the heartbeat. She answered any questions that I had and tried to give me information on pre-natal classes at my hospital but they were out of flyers so I have to check online. We also went over my u/s results. It only took about 30 minutes and I got to keep my clothes on.
Ann
I am sure you will be posting like a madwoman very very soon! :D
Hello to meatpie and angelgirl!
Question! Do any of you feel something going on down there? Sometimes I'll have really really light cramping and just weird sensations kind of like pulling but they are also really light. <upcoming tmi alert> Then, hubby and I were, um, you know, the other night and I swear I could feel my whole uterus moving around while in the missionary position (which I will not be doing again)! It was very very strange. <end of tmi> Just wondered if you guys are feeling things down there as well.

Don't worry Ann. I'm a freak in soooo many ways about this baby thing. YOU ARE SO NOT ALONE!!! In fact, we freak out about every other day. And sign No. 756 that Benny is freaking out - he wants a new car with a navigational system. Toys. The man only wants toys when he gets freaked.

count me in as a freak too. I'm more of a freak than I ever thought I'd be.
Mindy Hmm- I haven't felt too many weird feelings - I do have cramps once in a while- and of course the sickness, but other than that - not too much. maybe your baby is a gymnyst????

Yes I feel cramping, tightness and just a plain old achey feeling sometimes. It's probably stretching and things getting moved around some. So many things happen in the first trimester to make room for the baby that there's no way anyone could list all the possible feelings. With my DD I felt a tiny bit crampy and that was it until I felt her moving around. This time I think I feel everything as it's happening.

ann and meatpie...i know how you feel. i worry about every single thing, but i'm trying to enjoy this since it's the only time i'll do it!
cramping/pulling...yup! been cramping on and off since i got my positive beta. some weird pulling sensations, too.
___
not quite in the 2nd trimester yet. i think some people say 12 weeks is the end of the 1st and some say 13ish weeks. who knows?!
i'll be 12 weeks tomorrow at my nuchal u/s.

I just had my 2nd OB appt. yesterday and it went well. Same as Mindy3094 they took a urine sample, blood pressure, & weight (i gained 5.5 lbs!!). Then I got to hear the baby's heartbeat again!
Another exciting thing was that the doc wants me to go for another ultrasound at 16 weeks to confirm size and dates again. This is because my cycles were always so irregular and he wants to make sure that we have the correct dates. Who cares why he wants it, I get to see the babe again! He also said that if the baby cooperates that I might get to find out the sex at that ultrasound without waiting for the 20 week one. We'll see...I am not going to get my hopes up.
So my next doc appt is August 26th at 9:30 and I still need to schedule the ultrasound.
Well I gotta get back to work....I'm slacking :p
Talk to you all later!
I still have a couple weeks to go myself, I can't wait because I'm hoping I will start to feel better and enjoy food again :) I'm subscribing since I'll catch up soon. I have a Dr. appt. Aug. 4! hoping to hear the heartbeat!
cgriffin-sounds like a wonderful Dr. visit! It's wonderful that you are going to have another u/s! It's so amazing to see them on the screen.
QOTD - I haven't had much cramping but some pain in my back once in a while. Don't think it means anything, just growing !

I've been having that sort of pulling sensation almost daily, it's actually why I thought I was pregnant before my beta was done. I think it's due to the uterus growing and basically the ligaments and muscles in your abdomen shifting around.
meatpie This
The man only wants toys when he gets freaked. made me giggle. Men!!
Is anyone else having trouble deciding on whether to find out the sex? My DH refuses and will not be swayed. I really want to, so I can do the baby's room. I hate yellow and green (no offence to anyone who likes either of them) and they seem to be the only unisex nursery colours. I'm having CVS done next week, so I will be able to find out the sex but I know my DH would be so disappointed if I did, and I also wouldn't be able to NOT tell him. And then, buying either pink or blue stuff would be a giveaway.
DH says he wants it to be a surprise. I told him I think there's a big enough surprise that something the size of a baby will come out of a space of a inch or two ;)

we had always talked about not finding out, but i think if dh didn't want to know and i did, i would just find out! mostly because of all the needles! honestly, i don't know what i'd do if one of us wanted to know and the other didn't.

on my way out in a bit for the nuchal. terrified. also, really unsure of whether to tell people we're pg after the results (as long as they're good). i'm 12 weeks today, but i'm scared to tell, you know?

angelgirl8: hope the nuchal goes well! Maybe start telling some people you're closer to if you're still unsure if you guys want to tell anyone... You're going to have to share soon - all these dr appts and such :)
Told my coworkers yesterday. They've decided that they must have a baby shower for me. That's sweet. Another guy in my group's wife is 6 months pregnant - guess we're fertile ;) Actually, funny thing with him: they've adopted 4 kids in the last 8 years or so - and they just go pregnant. For 15 years they couldn't but now they are! We keep joking with him - don't you know what causes that ... and then say, oh wait, you don't! :) Good thing he loves it!!
Happy Thursday, ladies!

Ann - you really make me giggle. I am so glad to have found these boards - it is so nice to be able to "chat" with people who are going through the same things I am.
So orginially DH didn't want to know the sex and I did. Now - he says he oculd find out- but now I'm not sure. I do like yellow and green but would like to know how to accent it - like I'd like a green and pink nursary for a girl. On the other hand, it might be nice to spend the 10 months wondering and picking names for both. We're just not sure- but I think we have another month before we have to decide. :)

I don't really have anything new to report. I wish August 9 (my next appt) would get here already though. It seems like an eternity away!
Loo Loo Yup, I guess it could be a little gymnast in there! :D I guess I’ll figure that out when I can actually start to feel him/her moving.
Kelly
What you described is pretty much how I feel too. I also agree, it’s like I can feel everything going on down there. I wonder if this means I’ll be able to feel the munchkin moving around early or not? That would be so cool!
angelgirl
Thanks, I’m just glad to know that the cramping is still normal. It’s very light though. I wonder if it will continue throughout the pregnancy? I think it’s normal that you are scared to tell. I am sure the u/s will go perfectly and hope it will give you peace of mind to share your news with the world. :)
cgriffin
That is awesome you are having another u/s! I surely wouldn’t argue with that either. ;) I’m so glad you got to hear the heartbeat!

I think the back pain will just get worse with time! Hey, something to look forward to. My friend had twins the first time and she said by 23 weeks (where she is now this time with one baby) her back was killing her, but this time, it isn’t so bad.
Hey glensgirl!
jordan
I hope you are feeling better!
Ann
Thanks! It makes me feel better to know the sensations are normal so I don’t freak out! Fortunately, hubby and I agree that we want to find out the sex, but if he disagreed, I would think that the mom’s choice should trump the dad’s. :D Maybe you can make a deal that you’ll find out for this one but not the next (if there will be a next)?
You sound just like my friend who didn’t find out the sex and hated yellow and green. They did the baby’s room in a brown color with denim accents. She registered for a lot of white clothes and some blue clothes (b/c you can put a girl in blue but not a boy in pink!) They ended up having a boy so the blue worked out! It was hard to find unisex stuff that wasn’t green or yellow though! I just bought her everything in white.
I told him I think there's a big enough surprise that something the size of a baby will come out of a space of a inch or two
LOL, yeah, tell me about it! :D

That is a crazy story about your co-worker! I have heard of that happening so many times, where couples adopt because they can’t have their own kids then end up pg shortly thereafter. That is great!

Ann About finding out.... when we started trying to get pregnant almost 2 years ago, dh and I talked and he said he didn't want to find out. He said he wanted it to be a surprise. I said I wanted to find out, so I'd know what was inside me. Fast forward to last year when we started with the RE. My DH and I made a deal, if we were pregnant with twins, we'd find out so we could figure out names. If it was a single, we wouldn't. Fast forward again to June when we found out we were pregnant but didn't yet know it was twins. Apparently DH heard a couple men talking about it in the locker room. He said on man was talking about not finding out, and the other one said he wanted to find out. The one who wanted to said, "If you find out now or you find out then, doesn't matter because you're still surprised. It's just an earlier surprise." Apparently that "logic" swayed my DH. He then came home and told me he wanted to find out. I don't understand how that "logic" worked, but it did for him.
angelgirl8 Good luck with the testing today. Hope it goes well, please report back in with what happened and how you're doing afterwards. :)
Hi to everyone else, sorry I don't have time for more shoutouts.
As for us, still worrying along. Every ache, twinge, spot (still spotting heavy) has me worried. Luckily I rented a doppler and it should arrive tonight. It's hard going from seeing the kids 1-3 times a week at the REs down to 1 time a month at the OBs. I'm also not a very patient person, so I find it difficult to wait 1 month. I'm hoping the doppler will help with that.
DH and I have started telling people we're close to that we're expecting. He had a poker party last Friday night and let it slip that we're having twins. I didn't realize we were "close" to the poker people... we see them once a year. :p I've told a few people at work because I can't stress as much (according to the OB since I'm still spotting heavy) and I can't work a lot of overtime. Well I'd better get back to work. I've got a ton to do before this weekend.

hi everyone! thanks for all the reassurances!
things went well at the nuchal test today. everything looked good on u/s, we just have to wait for the blood test results to come in next week. so i think we'll hold out telling the world until we get the bloodwork in. otherwise, the babies look great! their amniotic sacs are right on top of one another so it looks like they're in bunk beds.

I lost 3 lbs in the past 3 weeks, which I'm ok with, cause I have enough "reserves," but my Dr. was not pleased. I need to at least maintain. Yes, ma'am!
I forgot to schedule my next monthly appointment while I was there (duh!), but I will be having another u/s shortly, at a prenatal u/s specialist, where my dr. routinely sends her patients. I can't wait to see bebe again!

Hi Jennifer! Glad I'm not the only one to join the thread "so late". ;)
I've lost 6lbs so far and my OB isn't worried at all. I also have enough reserves. The OB that I saw that visit (I have to rotate between 4) said it's ok to lose this early - the baby is small and doesn't have many demands. I'm losing because I just can't eat much. Ice cream is the only given that I can eat for sure. I've never thrown up, I just can't swallow food. It was the same with DS.

Hi ladies -
I am not quite in the 2nd trimester yet, a couple of more weeks to go!
But, I wanted to come by and let you know that we had our first appointment yesterday!! Everything looks good!! We had our first ultrasound and the little one was moving all around and the little heart was just beating away!! Baby is also measuring right on schedule at 9w5d and my due date got moved up one day to 2/26.
Reality has hit - I can't believe that there is really something in there!! ;) I think Don completely believes it now too! haha.
Our Dr. is great - she took a lot of time and explained everything and answered all of our questions before we even had a chance to ask them. :)

:D Had my first OB appt today which went just fine. She had referred me onto IVF 12mths ago so there was no need to do a history and all that guff. Even though I'm due for a pap, she said to wait until after delivering because she didn't want to freak me out with bleeding after the pap. Didn't have to pee in a cup, be weighed or anything. She's pretty cool especially as I have been monitored a fair bit with the IVF stuff already. No need to reinvent the wheel I guess.
We had a quick ultrasound, baby was practicing jumps :D Was very cute.

Brown doesn't really do it for me either unfortunately. But I don't think DH will be swayed, so I might have to go with a purple/lavender colour (which I would love but am worried it's much more a feminine colour).

TheFuture Thanks for posting the picture. Your baby looks so very cute to me. It's funny because even though those ultrasound pictures kind of look the same your baby looks different from my baby already! How cool.
Ann Although lavendar is a tad more feminine - I wouldn't worry- your baby won't know right?- and you can always add more male colored accents if you choose to!
Happy Friday everyone! I don't have much news to report either still waiting for my second appointment on the 9th. Still feeling really really sick.(actually had to push someone aside to get to the bathroom yesterday) But other than that - pretty much the same.
Jennapeach I too haven't been able to eat hardly anything (I even threw up icecream last weekend. I think I've lost about 8 pounds since this pregnancy started.
The weird thing is -and this is how screwed up I am - I am happy to lose the weight. When do we women get past this series of congratulating ourselves when we lose weight. I'm pregnant - I shouldn't be losing weight! I think when the m/s finally goes away (it will go away right?) I'm going to have a hard time adjusting to the weight gain- which I know is stupid! but after 30 years of conditioning myself to lose, lose, lose I don't know if I can change over night! Anyone else feeling this way???

Hubby and I were in Walmart last night with his Grandma. She had him put two cases of water in the bottom of her cart and when we got to the check out, I bent over to pick one up to put it on the belt so the cashier could ring it up. As I bent over, Grandma yells at me, “Don’t you pick up that water!” (apparently she thought it was too heavy for me) And then she had the cashier, a young woman, come out and get it. The cashier looked at me like I had 2 heads. She was probably thinking I was a weakling or something. I didn’t say anything!

Oh, I can totally relate on the weight loss issue. I know when I went to the dr for my second appointment and they weighed me, I was elated that I hadn’t gained anything! Imagine how I would have felt had I lost some weight. I have been reading that soon we should be gaining a pound per week and that is freaking me out. I just keep thinking that I worked so hard to lose so much weight and I am not going to do well if I gain too much. It’s horrible though because I know better. It doesn’t help to know that my mom gained 50 lbs with each of us three girls when she was pg. I try to remind myself that most of the weight gain is going to be baby, placenta, water weight, etc and that part will come off quickly. I’m hoping that as the days wear on and I do start gaining, that it will sink in and I can go with the flow and not freak out, you know? And I think I am going to have to put my scale away in a little while because I don’t want to needlessly worry about my weight in between dr’s appointments. And, hey, you can always stand on the scale backwards at your appointments so you will never know how much your weight is!

Looloo - I have a hard time not feeling in control of my body, so yes, I have a problem with it all to a certain point. From what my preggo GFs have said it's tough in months 4-5 when you just look and feel fat - not pregnant. But it's better after that when you are really showing. Just try and find something that makes you feel good, walking, swimming, something actuive to do.
Funny story - We're at our last appointment and he tells me I am barely 9 weeks. And I say - "No that u/s said we turned on Tuesdays and that we are 10 weeks, 1 day." So he busts out his magic date wheel and actually says "Hmmm...it would help if I could rad this thing. My eyes are not so good."
The hus and I just looked at each other like - is he kidding?? He can't read a wheel. Is he going to see the baby?? It was really funny.
Sex of Benny Jr Still a no for us and it's my call. I just don't want to know. Might paint the room brown or yellow - all depends. I need to find bedding before I make any color choices.
HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND EVERYONE. And Welcome Jennapeach and Lynn!!!!!
I am so with all of you ladies on the weight gain issue. When I had my second doctors appointment, I was up 3.5 pounds from my pre baby weight. I was astounded. Doctor said that the weight gain wasn't that much, and not to worry about it, but- I live my life trying to maintain my weight. I must keep thinking- want very healthy baby, and it will all come off soon afterwards! Granted I am only 1.5 over that number now because my doctors appointment was after our weekend anniversary trip- umm, yeah. I am having NO problems eating, LOL. As usual- go figure.
Welcome lynnh and Jennapeach! Jennapeach, I remember you from wedding planning, and your wedding colors were absolutely beautiful. I must say that your baby is going to be a cutie too!
Sex of baby - Our baby will have a genger neutral room in cream and sage colors, although we will know the sex to add some accents. No color problems for me here, although I have informed my family to please stay away from yellow…
Oh, can you please update- my next doctor's appnt is 08/16.
Have a wonderful weekend!

I was actually shocked that I got a 'panking from my OB about my weight loss. I'm eating really healthy, compared to pre-preg! I've been pretty lucky that I've been able to eat at least fruits, grains, dairy and some protein during the past few weeks. I've only gagged a couple of times... until today. I forgot to take my prenatal last night and I took it around 6am. Well, I got up at 7am to make myself a bagel and proceeded to toss my cookies right there in the kitchen sink. It was bad - there wasn't even anything in my stomach and I kept heaving (sorry if TMI). Here's hoping it was just a fluke. And, I WILL remember to take my prenatals before bed now!
Mindy, my MIL is obsessed with me NOT picking anything up. I'm like, "I'm pregnant, not disabled!" My pedicurist seems to think that I shouldn't put my hands above my head while I'm PG. Fun times.
LRL, thanks for the nice words. I can't believe it's already been 2 years since our wedding! Time went by fast.
I'm going to NoCal this week on business. I hope I'm not miserable the entire time. I usually like travelling on business but ugh... right now, not so much. There will be a lot of schmoozing on this trip. At least I've already told my boss, so he knows that I might just cut the socializing to go back to the hotel for rest.

I was actually shocked that I got a 'panking from my OB about my weight loss. I'm eating really healthy, compared to pre-preg! JennaPeach I hear you on the prenatal vitamins .They are awful! And good they make them any bigger? I take mine before bed- and had to learn to do it before I brushed my teeth- otherwise- BLECH!!!! I too am traveling for business this week and am NOT looking forward to it. I'm taking the train and I'm worried about being on the train for 4 hours and then on my feet at a tradeshow. For some reason I thought I'd be feeling better by now. LOL!

hi ladies
I just got back from vacation. We went to Atlanta and to Jacksoville, Fla. last week to visit some friends. The trip was nice, but next time we go away, I don't want to visit anyone- i want to spend it at the beach doing a whole lot of nothing. It looks like a lot has gond on this past week. I am going to have to catcu hp somehow.
Gotta say, I am a few days away from my 2nd trimester and I feel worse than ever. I have been getting constant headaches. ANyone else? It's torture.

roe6373: I've been getting headaches too. Sometimes I think it's because I'm not drinking enough water - but can't imagine how that's possible since I drink at least 64 oz each day at work and more at home! I'm trying to avoid taking anything for the headaches but there have been a few that have required some tylenol.
I can't believe that I'll be 13 weeks on Wednesday - and 3 months on Thursday!! The time has FLOWN by! :)
We're leaving for 2 weeks of vacation soon - I can't wait!!! Next year, if we do this trip again, we'll have a baby with us! :)

There will be no updates made after this one for the next 2 weeks as I'll be on vacation -- that is, unless someone volunteers to help!

I havent been around much because i have been feeling horrible the last 2 weeks. I've only lost it a couple times but I have this all day feeling of low grade nausea that wears me down. I am hoping that it turns around any time now. DH keeps trying to cheer me up by saying the comment that the dr said at our last appointment (I wanted to punch her) "if you're feeling bad, it's a sign that everything is going fine." I just want to eat without feeling like I'm going to lose it and get rid of this horrible taste in my mouth.
question-People have talked about weight loss/gain but what about clothes? I am in an awful state-too big for my regular size clothes but nowhere near the size for maternity. Any suggestions? (I tried going up 2 jean sizes and that worked until I ate and I had to take them off as soon as we got home-we were out to eat and I was sitting at the table with them unbuttoned and unzipped-).

I HATE getting dressed everyday. Comfort is huge for me, and I'm just not comfortable lately. I tried maternity clothes recently but I'm not ready. Oh well...I had a dream I popped last night so this problem was solved. But who knows  Then I have to deal with my hus who keeps saying "You are going to get so fat" and being very excited about it. I told him he needed to find a word other than "fat" to describe me. Nothing yet. He can't understand why I'm not looking forward to the weight gain, etc. etc.
My next appt is Aug 18 and it seems like forever away.
aligirl - Have a great vacation!!!
roe6373 - I am so sorry you are not feeling well. I think headaches are fairly common - my gf had them - and the doctor said if they contuinued past week 14 or 16 (can't remember exactly) to call, and hers stopped the day she turned 14 or 16 weeks.
jennapeach - the u/s photos look wonderful!!

I hear you meatpie about the "fat" issue. My DH seems to have the same vocabulary problem. He too seems exited about it but I keep telling him no matter what the circumstances no woman ever wants to hear the word fat associated with her!
On the topic of getting dressed, thank God I do fit in to some maternity clothes because my regular clothes, especially pants, just do not fit me. And I really do not just want to keep buying random sizes of clothes. But I still only have one pair of pants, one skirt and two shirts that are maternity that actually fit me... I can't wait till I am totally maternity... This will make shopping so much easier!
DH and I started our baby registry at Babies R Us...I know its early but I wanted to do something fun and shopping for me is always fun!! I figured that I would just start with the basics that you need for any first baby and build on when we find out the sex and pick out a nursury theme.
jennapeach- Love the ultrasound photos! Its amazing to actually see the little baby body so clear isn't it?

headaches...i've been getting them non-stop! i hear it's the hormones...must be the same ones responsible for this awful nausea!
maternity clothes...i'm pretty much out of my regular clothes. i'm small to begin with and with the twins, i'm growing pretty big already.
i did want to say that there are a few stores that have tons of stretchy skirts and pants these days that are basically like maternity clothes, but they're not! specifically, i've seen stuff at urban outfitters and american apparel. but i think most places have some jersey stretch stuff these days...apparently it's the big thing!

so, still feeling crappy but very very lucky! looking forward to my next doctor's appointments!

sudafed - I did not know we can take that. I think my headaches may be sinus related as well. I see the doc. of 8/5. I am going to ask him what he recommends. I swear I need a CAT scan of brain.
Maternity cloths- I went to JC Penny over the weekend bc they had a huge sale. I have never been to one before, but they had a lot of cute things. I bought two tops and a skirt for work for seventeen dollars and change. The original price would have been over $70.00. The clothes are slightly big. Right now, I would fit into a medium- but being a cheapo, I decided to buy larges and grow into them. I will hate to have to buy two sets of maternity clothes.

Headaches Yes! I've been getting them. Ugh. I had one pretty much all weekend. I've always gotten headaches, so I've never kept Tylenol around the house, cause it's always been pretty useless on my bad-boy headaches. Man, I was sure wishing for some this weekend! I'm definitely going to buy a bottle of Tylenol. I heard that the slow-release tabs actually do work on headaches for some people, so I'm going to check with my OB to see if I can use those. So far, the only thing that's worked is to take 2 Tylenol and drink a medium Coke. It's the closest I can get to my beloved Excedrin (which is really Tylenol + aspirin + caffeine) without taking it. Thankfully, my OB gave me a list of medications I can and cannot take. It's so helpful!
Maternity clothes I have some, from when I was PG earlier this year. But, I'm not wearing them yet. Thankfully, I still fit into my non-mat pants, but it won't be long. Some of them are getting tight. I definitely am not wearing jeans anymore. :(
Am feeling much better today. I've been able to eat like a normal human being! Of course, I also took a nap after breakfast, but I'd rather have fatigue than nausea any day. :D
angelgirl8

i'm so jealous of all of you whose nausea is subsiding. send some of that my way!

angelgirl I'm with you, I'll send anyone some of my nausea in exchange for headaches or sore boobs. I'm sorry to hear you're still suffering, is the Zofran not helping?
cgriffin Have fun doing your baby registry. I've never known anyone to do a baby registry here in Australia so I won't be doing one as people wouldn't know what the heck it was :D
meatpie This made me giggle
I told him he needed to find a word other than "fat" to describe me. Nothing yet I told my DH he needed to find a word other than fat if he wanted to live to see this child born. He's working on it ;)

DH keeps trying to cheer me up by saying the comment that the dr said at our last appointment (I wanted to punch her) "if you're feeling bad, it's a sign that everything is going fine." My RE told me that a few weeks ago when I mentioned it. You'd think doctors would have more sense  I have the nausea you mention, except mine's high grade, and gets worse throughout the day. I am SO over it.
aligirl Have a great holiday you lucky thing. Hope you relax and enjoy the start of your second trimester.
roe6373 I haven't had any headaches, but I was always prone to hormonal migraines before I was pregnant. The doctors told me they'd stop when I fell pregnant, and they have. Pregnancy headaches are usually hormonal, the only thing to do if possible is to go to bed and try to sleep it off. Being in a dark cool room can help.
LooLoo02 Those prenatals are so huge I swear they're for horses not humans. And the gag factor when swallowing them is not good. Hope your business trip goes ok and the pregnancy factor doesn't interfere too much.

my MIL is obsessed with me NOT picking anything up This is my MIL too. She means well but I keep telling her if I can't pick up a shopping bag, how am I going to pick up a baby?
Great U/S pics, I hope mine tomorrow will be as clear as that. Hope your business trip this week is ok and you don't feel too miserable.
LRL Thanks for the idea about gender neutral sage, I'll have to reinvestigate and see if I like that. Sage isn't really green.
Mindy
And, hey, you can always stand on the scale backwards at your appointments so you will never know how much your weight is! I like your thinking ;)
Off for my CVS tomorrow. Hopefully it will all be well and I'll be distracted by the U/S first :D We can apparently pay extra ( ) and get a quick answer (in 24 hrs) on some of the major things they test for. Which we'll probably do if it's not too expensive. Talk about rip-off the patients who just want peace of mind.
I'm going to start telling my relatives and friends after the CVS test results. I'll be 12 weeks on Friday so I think it's time. I'm having trouble explaining why I'm avoiding eating out with some friends. A lot of my friends already knew we were doing IVF and so are a little hesitant to ask what's going on in case it failed. I've already told my brother and his wife (he is my only sibling and both my parents are dead), and we have told DHs parents and siblings and their spouses. A couple of other close friends know because they asked how the IVF was going and I couldn't lie to them. It'll be nice to have it out in the open.

edsbabyrhi - That is a strange dream. A few weeks ago, I had a dream that i was planning a friends wedding and she annoyed me so badly that I went into the bathroom and smoked a cigarette (totally forget i was pregnantin the dream). Then my SIL walked into the bathroom adn saw me smoking at that point i remembered i was pregnant and should not be smoking. It was so weird. I don't even smoke.
Tomorrow is Week 12 for me!!!
Edsbabyrhi- I have also been having pretty vivid dreams lately. I can really remember everything in the dream. I can never remember dreams, so this is pretty neat as I have always liked interpreting them. I have a feeling they might start getting weird though!
Angelgirl8- Sending NON-nausea vibes your way! I have been lucky, so I am happy to share!
Maternity clothes - I have a few pairs of maternity pants that are too big for me still. I had to buy some new shirts for work, but I have not really changed sizes yet, so now I will be growing out of new clothes. Sigh. Too bad I am not bigger (in the tummy!). I have always hated clothes shopping, and wanted to get things that I could continue to wear. Oh well. Roe6373 - Great deal on the clothes!
We told our families this weekend- Now our baby has family! We had SO much fun! We gave the Grandma's bags of baby diaper changing supplies and informed them that we were recruiting diaper changers. It was totally cute to see them dumbstruck and then the lightbulbs go off. LOL. They caught on faster than I expected them to! I am a little sad because one of my sisters had a momentary hysterical moment when she realized I was pregnant. She is not TTC, but has wanted to for the past year very badly. She can't get pregnant right now though because she has to finish her PhD program first, and this totally depresses her. She is so ready to have kids. I felt bad, but she came around (plus, she only has one more year, but that doesn't make her feel any better). She was not envious towards me, but had more of a longing on her part.
Cgriffin - When our mothers found out that we were pregnant, the first thing that they said was "Now we have to go baby shopping!". So, we took them to Babie's R Us and they bought us a couple of gifts. So funny! We will probably start a registry soon too- so much fun!
Question - Has anyone else decided to do the triple screen test? My OB gave us that option at my last appointment. DH and I are having a hard time deciding. If you have decided to do this test, can you please tell me why, and if you are not, also why not? As I understand, you are only given percentages or likelihood of a potential problem, and then you have to personally evaluate the risks. I don’t know how I might react to potentially low numbers. I wonder if I might worry about it too much!
Welcome Jenryan!

Wanted to check in.............
edsbabyrhi and roe6373- I have been having what I call my anxiety dreams again. Ugh, I hate these. They always have something to do with school is some morbid way. For example, in one dream, I will have forgotten to go to class for half a semester and obviously will be failing. In another dream, I will want to go back to school to get my high school diploma, only when I get there I realize I already have my high school diploma. I always wake up in a panic! I have no idea where these dreams come from. I mean, I have my Master's degree, for crying out loud. I'm not going back to school again. It's just so strange!
Clothes I can still fit into most of my clothes but they are getting tight. I have definitely already nixed my fitted jeans. I don't even want to try to wrestle those things on. I am trying to stick with looser fitting clothes but even those are getting tight around the middle. I do have some of my old "fat" clothes that I had when I was 40 lbs heavier so I may see if the skirts fit now or what.
roe Good deal on the maternity clothes! I need a sale like that!
Headaches I have them too but they aren't too bad. I can deal with them without taking anything. I never used to get headaches so I know it's gotta be the pg hormones.
Welcome to jenryan!
Ann Good luck with your CVS tomorrow!
angelgirl Hey, I give you all of the respect in the world, girl, for dealing with that nausea! The little bit of nausea I have had was awful so I cannot imagine having to deal with it everyday. Hopefully it will be subsiding soon!
jennapeach Yes, fatigue beats out nausea any day of the week!
cgriffin You started your registry? How cool! Hmm.... that definitely gives me a boost to start ours too!
meatpie Oh man, if my husband used the word "fat" around me, let just say it would get very very ugly. ;) I hope he comes up with a new more flattering term very quickly!
Hello to anyone I missed!

We opted not to do the triple screen test mainly because it tests for things that are not really fixable. We will not terminate the pregnancy so doing the test was kind of like a waste. If it tested for something that they could fix or operate on in utero, then I would have done it. Plus, I didn't want to worry needlessly if the test came back showing something was likely since they are not 100% accurate.

LRL We decided against the triple screen for all the reasons Mindy said. Plus we are young so chances are there are no problems.
Nice to know I am not the only one with vivid/strange dreams.
Ausmarchbride Yikes with the nausea. Mine stays the same all day. I am just waiting for the morning when I wake up and it is magically gone. I used to get so much joy out of eating food and now it is a chore.
cgriffin So jealous with the registry. we are not even close. We want to finish the basement first so we can relocate the study to the basement and baby to the study.
hey that's a good QOTD: What changes (if any) are you making to your living arrangement to fit baby?
We have a 3 bedroom townhouse and I think its bursting now with us+stuff+2 dogs. I can't wait to see what its like when baby comes.

Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I haven't joined until now b/c I have been so sick, it took all I had to make it through each day at work. But tomorrow I will be 13 weeks :D , and not to jinx myself but I think I may be feeling a tad bit better.
angelgirl: so I am right with on the nauesa, yuck.
clothes: today I wore maternity pants to work for the first time. I just can't sit at my desk in tight clothes anymore. Since this is my third baby, I am starting to show already, I just wish that it was obvious that I was p/g and not just look like I am getting fat.

Hi everyone! I haven't posted in a while but I've been following along. This morning sickness stuff is really kicking my butt lately. It will end soon though, right?!? Just a couple comments and then it's back to work...
Welcome, jenryan! Wow, baby #3 on the way! Congratulations! I'm sure you'll have lots of good advice to share with us first-timers. :)
Headaches - Funny that came up yesterday since I had a killer headache all day yesterday. It got so bad I even broke out the Tylenol (I've been trying really hard to avoid taking anything like that even though my OB said it was okay...). The Tylenol didn't really help much though - the only real relief was sleep.
Dreams - I've had lots of vivid anxiety dreams lately too. The recurring one is me accidentally having an alcoholic drink before I remember that I'm pregnant. And I've had a couple where my car was stolen when I wasn't looking and I spend what seems like hours looking for it in a panic. We seem to have some similar themes going - interesting.
Triple screen test - We are also opting not to do it for basically the same reasons as Mindy.
Hope the "Golden Trimester" of pregnancy kicks in soon for all of us!

LRL- In response to your question about the triple screen test. As far as I know it is now a quad-screen but either way tests for alot of the same things. I chose not to do it for many reasons. One, my sister-in-law did it, they told her the baby had a high probability of down syndrome and is now fine after all the months of worrying. Second, the doctor said that the results can come back false if they are the slightest bit wrong in estimating how far along you are when the test is done. Third, I would never get an amnio due to the higher risk factors. And lastly, but most importantly, like Mindy3094 said, we would never chose to terminate our pregnancy and these problems cannot be fixed in utero.

I am not doing the screen this time. I had a bad experience with #1. My results came back with a very high probability and I was freaked. I also did not want to do an amnio, so what was the point to be freaked out?? Well when I went to the peri she gave me a copy of the results and ALL of my info was input wrong. They had the wrong age, race, edd... and even the slightest variation could make a HUGE difference. Well, she called the lab and they redid the formula and everything was perfect. I just learned that if there isnt anything I was going to do anyway, that the chance of being freaked out again werent worth it!

Quad test/screening Ok, I'll post my thoughts here. I'm reticent to do so because I'm concerned I will be attacked. Please remember, these are MY thoughts and opinions, they relate only to me and my DH. If you disagree with me, that's fine, but please don't argue with me about my decision. It was the right decision for me and my DH, whether you agree or not. I thought long and hard about posting this, but I wanted to give my viewpoint in case someone else is in a similar position.
OK, that said. I didn't do the screening tests for a few reasons.
First, I am 39 and therefore my risk factors are already high.
Second, I was adopted at birth and have absolutely no idea about any family genetic issues.
Third, I don't want to know a risk factor, I want a definitive answer. The risk factor they'll give you is, for example, you have a 1 in 2156 chance of a Down's Syndrome baby or a 1 in 3564 chance of a trisomy 18 baby. That's all they tell you.
So DH and I decided to do CVS. We picked this over amnio because CVS can be done earlier. Although CVS doesn't pick up spina bifida and other neural tube defects, a blood test can detect these specific problems at around 16 weeks. So we did CVS. I am awaiting the results, I get a quick result in 24hrs on the 5 major extra chromosomal problems, and then full results in 2 weeks. My DH and I will terminate the pregnancy if something serious is found to be wrong. I hope like anything that won't be necessary.
Headaches Still none for me, and I'm happy about that.
Dreams I've been having the weirdest dreams for the past couple of weeks, a lot of them involving my Mum (who's been dead for 3 years). Very strange, and I wake up remembering them which is unusual for me also.
Jenryan Welcome, and I hope the nausea eases off for you soon.
The morning sickness today is less than it has been (not gone, but less) so that's a nice change. Here's hoping it's the start of the golden trimester as tinagirl said. Had my CVS today and I seem to be fine, no cramping or bleeding. Had an ultrasound as part of it, baby was boucing around nicely, even doing the clenched fist and waving :D Heartbeat at 160bpm so that's good too.
I'm 12 weeks on Friday, I can't believe it's gone so fast :D

Hello all! I'm so far behind, again! I've been having internet problems that are hopefully fixed now.
I found out on Monday that I've got another UTI, which sucks. The antibiotics are making me so sleepy! Doesn't help that Aaron won't nap much.
I've talked about the Quad Screen with DH. I don't really think it's necessary. I got it with Aaron and everything was fine. I know that I'm older now, but I'm not worried. He wants it though. He knows I won't get further testing, but I guess he wants to be able to prepare mentally if he needs to. I'll just freak out though, so maybe I'll just talk to him again about that!
I think there was a QOTD asked yesterday about changes? The only change we'll make is to move Aaron to a big boy room (I get to decorate that instead of a nursery) and get him out of the crib. I'm really nervous about that!
I can not wait until Monday when I finally get to hear the heartbeat!

Ok guys, I did it! I have been having severe anxiety on how to tell my boss about the babe. I told hubby when I left for work that I was going to tell him today and I basically forced myself to do it. But seriously, how much of a wuss am I? Geez.
Reminder: In the office, there is him and me. His office is attached to his house so his wife comes over from time to time, so there are basically only 3 of us.
So, we were working on a church thing in his office and when we were done, I finally said, "Well, there are going to be some changes coming up in my life that affect you." He kind of cartoonishly put his head on his desk then said, "What are those changes?" So I said, "In February, there is going to be another ourlastname around." And he said, "Well, praise the Lord! I wondered how long it was going to be."
Whew!
Then we talked about what would happen afterwards. I told him I was open to working 2 days/week maximum but that if that wasn't an option and he wanted to find someone else, I would completely understand because I could go either way (part time or quitting altogether). He said he would like to work with the 2 day/week thing because he really didn't want to find someone else. We talked about how I really thought I could get all of my work done in 2 days but that the only problem would be when he is in court, the office would be empty and people would get the answering machine. So, he said if I can work around his schedule, that would be best, meaning that my 2 days/week would be flexible. I told him I would have to see because I am really not interested in day care so I would need to find somewhere to put the babe that 2 days/week. I know MIL could watch him/her on Fridays but the other day, who knows.
Then, GET THIS, he says, "Well, P (his wife) would be willing to watch the baby when you are here." Um, hello! This is completely awesome. But of course he is volunteering her without her even knowing. LOL He was like, "You could bring it with you. That wouldn't be a problem."
Then, he says, "Well you should go and tell P. I shouldn't be the one to tell her." AAAAHHHH, and I had a hard enough time telling him! Geez. So she came over because he had to go to Court and they were leaving (she drives him) and I told her. She was soooo excited and then says, "You can bring the baby to work and I can watch it!" I told her that was good because her husband had already volunteered her. Ha Ha Ha, but from what I can tell, she LOVES kids and was not ever able to have her own because of endometriosis so I know she loves having kids around.
So, that went extremely well. And I feel so much better.
Living Arrangement Changes
Our house is a 3 bedroom. Obviously, hubby and I have the master. The smallest bedroom we made into a guest room, which leaves one bedroom left which will be the nursery. I painted that room last year and we got carpet in there in February. I also painted a dresser and a nightstand that we had and we put that in there last year. I used to hang my wet laundry up in that room but I have since moved that over to the guest room and just make sure it’s clean when anyone comes over to stay. My treadmill is also in the future nursery, so all I have to do now is find a new place to put my treadmill and have hubby move it. I haven’t figured that one out exactly yet but I think it will end up in our room because our room is quite large and it can fit in there without taking up too much space.

Hey, it’s good to hear that you might be feeling better. Knock on wood though, right? ;) It’s good to have you in this thread!
tinagirl
I can so relate to your car dream! Gotta love anxiety and what it’ll do to ya! I hope you feel better!

Hey, don’t feel badly posting about your feelings regarding the CVS. You have to make your own decisions and shouldn’t feel badly about that!
Just wanted to say Hi to tray622 and cgriffin!

Ugh, I am sorry to hear about the UTI! I have heard those things are awful. Decorating a big boy room sounds like fun. Have you decided what you are going to do yet?

ann...glad you're having no ill effects from the CVS. let us know when you get the results. i'm very glad you posted your thoughts on testing!
so happy the m/s is fading...it seems like that magical time!
testing...we did the nuchal translucency last week (u/s and bloodwork) and everything seems fine, so i think we're going to skip any further testing, unless my obgyn thinks it's absolutely necessary.
a number of the tests that are done come back with a higher rate of false positives for twins and i'm not sure i can handle that!
lynn...uggg on the UTI! hope you're feeling better.
tina and jenryan...sorry about your m/s! i know mine is really messing with me.
qotd: living arrangements...well, we live in a tiny 1 bedroom apartment in manhattan, but we're going to stick around. there's no way we can afford anything bigger and we'll just make do with the space we have! babies don't take up that much room, right?!
______
spoke to my obgyn this morning and she said my blood results came in from our last visit and they show that i have hyperthyroidism. she said it happens sometimes in pregnancy, but wants me to see an endocrinologist to see if i need to go on medication.
she also said that hyperthyroidism can cause nausea, so that might be why my m/s is so bad (and not going away)!

Ann - I cannot wait to hear how your results went. I hope everything came out perfect, which I am sure it did.
Mindy - congrats on telling your boss. That is great that his wife can watch the baby.
QOTD- we moved into a three bedroom townhouse in May. when we moved, I was not pregnant. But painted the entire place and had it carpeted. I knew eventually one room would be a nurdery so I had it painted neutral with a neutral color carpet.
Testing - I am so behind/clueless. I have not heard anything about this testing that everyone is talking about. I go to the doctor on friday. Maybe he'll mention it then.
BTW- I had another smoking dream last night. This time, I was smoking and rubbing my belly telling the baby i was sorry for smoking. What an idiot i was in my dream.

Ann - Thanks for sharing and I hope everything turns out OK. It sounds like these tests are great for many people, and IMHO, especially for you since family history is such a major indicator and you don't know yours.
Mindy - great news on the boss front!!
angelgirl - I don't think babies do. I think it's all the cr@p that comes with em!!! ;)
Living situation - We have to move and will begin to look for a larger place in the next few weeks. Ugghhhh. But we neded a bigger place as we have just outgrown our little apt.
testing - We're not exactly sure what we will do and won't. We have a 13-week appt in the next few weeks and we'll talk more about ithe tests then so we are ready for the 16-week appt when most of those tests are done at my dr.'s office.

meatpie...yeah, i've seen all this stuff the babies come with! and we'll have double. but i think we'll go minimalist...otherwise, we'll have to keep the babies in drawers! i know people in nyc do it all the time, so i'm not too worried!
Mindy3094, Edsbabyrhi, Tinagirl26, cgriffin, tray622, Ausmarchbride, lynnh: Thank you ladies for your responses on the Quad Screen Test. We still don't know if we will do the test or not, but are going to seek some family advice (all in the medical field of course). It really helps to hear why other people are opting to do/not do the test.
Lynnh - I hear you on the UTI. I had one really bad one last October. The incompetent doctors at Kaiser (which we were with at the time) did not diagnose it for two weeks. I was miserable with a constant 102+ temperature. I am glad they were able to treat you quickly- it still sucks though! I hope you are feeling better soon!
Mindy3094 - Congrats on telling the boss. Your boss sounds great, and it sounds like you might have a great work situation to look forward to! I still have told no one at work. See- I am worse than you!
Living Arrangements - We currently have two bedrooms. One is our room, and the other has been used as a storage/computer room. If you can believe it, I still have wedding stuff in boxes in that room. We will most likely be moving the computer into our room, and making that room completely for the baby.
Hello to everyone else! :)

LRL I hope you get some good advice from the family members and then have the information to make your decision about what tests to have, if any.

for you since family history is such a major indicator and you don't know yours. Yep, that was a big factor in my wanting to test.
roe6373 Don't be too worried about not knowing about the tests, your doc will talk to you if he thinks they're necessary.
angelgirl So what does that mean for you, having been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism? I hope you don't need medication, but maybe that will help with the nausea.
mindy The boss' wife babysitting sounds like the perfect solution for you. It also sounds like she would love it, so that's great.
lynnh Oh hearing the heartbeat is soo cool, and it's so much faster than you expect :D You'll love it on Monday.
Thanks to you all for your support about my thoughts on CVS and what I would do. I was concerned about posting it here as I know that as a general rule, Americans are much more pro-life than Australians and I have seen some of the abortion threads here and on WC get really nasty. I just wanted to post my thoughts in case someone was having similar thoughts but unwilling to post on it. So thanks again for your support, you ladies rock :D
I got my results a few minutes ago, and they are all clear for the 3 trisomies (13,18 and 21/Down's Syndrome). The nurse said I can tell you the sex if you want, and it took all my willpower to say no. My DH would have killed me if I found that out. So he owes me BIGTIME ;)
So I'm more relaxed now, and we'll start to tell the friends and relatives (only a handful know and I told them because I wanted then to know I was doing IVF).

Aus MarchBride, you have WAY more discipline that I... I would have begged to know the sex. ;) Congrats on healthy test results.
Haven't decided on the tests yet. I'm concerned about the neural tube defects, since I didn't start taking prenatals (folic acid) until I was about 6 weeks PG. And, I'm overweight, so that puts me at greater risk for NTD. But, since seeing the bebe on the u/s, dancing around in there, it would be really hard to consider terminating if something was wrong... even though my hub and I have agreed that we would.
I'm away from home on business and at our meetings today, I spent six hours in the world's most uncomfortable chair. This thing had narrow arms (cutting into my hips) and was made of wood. I'm not sure who's bright idea those chairs were, but they did not make for a happy PG chick.
After work, I was ravenous, so I got some tempura and California Rolls for dinner. For some reason, I've been craving Japanese food alot lately.
And, I treated myself to Ben & Jerry's Triple Caramel Chunk ice cream for dessert. OMG, SO good! I had a small and was wishing I had ordered the regular. ;)
Am so, SO tired this evening. I snoozed in Borders while checking out some PG books. The idea of heading to bed at 8pm sounds like heaven right now.
QOTD - Not sure yet. We have a 2-bdr condo, but I have 2 stepdaughters who "own" the other bedroom. Even though we don't have full custody of them, I like to be able to give them their own space. We can make it work if we need to, but we're also looking into other options. My parents are interested in investing in a property with us - as long as there's a room in the house for them, down the road, if they need to live with us when they're elderly. If that happened, we'd be able to put 50% down on a house, which is great in the LA housing market. Unfortunately, I would have to move pretty far out and my current 30 min commute would be more like 1 hour +, each way. But... no telling if I'll return to that job after bebe... so, it's all up in the air now.

Aus MarchBride,
After work, I was ravenous, so I got some tempura and California Rolls for dinner. For some reason, I've been craving Japanese food alot lately.
OMG- me too! I have had California Rolls so many times since I was pregnany- I don't know why!!!!
I've been away so I've missed a lot about the testing- I'm taking something called "first look" on Tursday - it test for DS. Truthfully, I don't know why I'm even doing it - and am not second guessing the test. I may call my doctor again and explain it to me again before the test.
lynnh I hope you feel better- I used to get UTIs all the time and they are so NOT fun- I can't imagine having one and being pregnant. blech. Is cranberry juice working for you??
QOTH DH and I bought a 4 bedroom house 3 years ago and so far its just been us. The one thing that sort of concerns me is that the Master bedroom is downstairs and the rest of the bedrooms are upstairs. O.k I'm not really concerned but other people have made me feel concerned. We have a guest bedroom upstairs so I figure in the begining I'll probably just spend some nights up there. We have left the bedroom "as is" because I was afraid to do anything do it. So right now it is a pretty empty room which needs to have the wallpaper stripped - and be cleaned out of bookcases etc..
tina and jenryan I've hit 12 weeks and still have M/S now brushing my teeth is making me sick. - M/S is so not fun! Hope you feel better.
Maternity clothes Since I pretty much don't eat - or when I do eat I throw it u - I have lost about 10 pounds so my clothes are still fitting me fine. I have of course checked out all the fall fashions on the maternity sites. ;)

Hey, that leads me to a QOTD - what are you eating or drinking now that you wouldn't have before you were pg?
For me, it's lemonade! I used to hate lemonade and now I can't seem to get enough of it. I think it's the sour taste that is what I am craving.

ann...so so glad your first results were good! and you are very strong not finding out the sex!
great qotd! i actually generally hate food and i've had lots of stomach issues in the past but i am definitely eating some things i never did. i am needing (but not necessarily liking) apples. must have one upon waking every morning!
and mac and cheese. eating it at 8am for breakfast. every day. and then for lunch. and then for snack!
i'm so jealous of those of you with houses. or other bedrooms!
thanks for asking about me, ann.
in terms of the hyperthyroidism...right now i'm not sure of the implications. we're seeing the endocrinologist tomorrow so i'm sure i'll find out more. i know if it's bad and goes uncontrolled there is a risk of miscarriage or risks of developmental problems for the babies. but i'm not sure if we're at that point yet. right now, no worrying until tomorrow!

I have my second Dr. appointment today.... which is good because my m/s seems to be getting worse.
QOTD: Living Arrangements
We are kind of in a toss up right now. We could stay in our current house (has 2 bedrooms and the kitchen and living room upstairs and another bedroom and family room downstairs) but I know that when we have a second child I would not want to stay here b/c of the house layout. We have put our house up For Sale by Owner and have actually been getting quite a few calls. We have found two houses that we like. One with a possible In-Law Suite so that my parents would have somewhere to stay when they are up to visit.
QOTD: Food
I have gotten to the point now where I cannot stand the smell of cheese (which I used to LOVE)... I can eat some of it but not all kinds. My new favorite is apple sauce... I used to like it ok, but now it seems to be one of the things that settles my stomach.
Mindy - Lemonade sounds really good... might have to get some of that.

Dr.'s Appointment
Well I had my appointment to meet with the nurse practitioner, but the air was broke at the office so I guess only one of the Dr.'s stayed today and everyone else went home but her and the receptionist. I was quite pleased with that. This Dr. was really nice too... hadn't met her before. She said my family history and health history was good and I shouldn't have any complications, but she was a bit worried b/c I have lost 5 lbs since my last appointment. They did a test to see if I was dehydrated... I wasn't and she gave me a perscription to help with the m/s. They want me back there next week (Wednesday) to see if it is helping. She also told me that one of the best things to have when you are nauseous is regular Coke (with sugar, caffine and all). I'll have to stop at the store and pick some up. Other than that it was a pretty uneventful visit. I just hope that I don't loose any more weight before the next visit. Although my MIL said it could be just from cutting beer out of my diet (which could be completely true).

Thanks for the get well wishes on the UTI. I really didn't know I had one. I had stomach aches, but thought it was dairy intolerance. Those are gone now. I just hate having to remember to take meds!
AusMarchBride - yes, hearing the h/b is cool. Even though this is my second, I'm sure it will be just as exciting. I just need to hear it to feel more comfortable in my pregnancy. The fear of m/c is always with me.
Crap, I forgot who asked about what we are doing in the big boy room? I need to get some paper by me so I can do proper s/o's! I'll make is super short since it's not related to baby due in February.... but we're doing an airplane theme. DH is really excited about it. We didn't do a theme for the nursery, just painted it yellow and bought a dresser. We were going to hang some pictures, but Aaron surprised us 3 weeks early and they never got up! I don't think we'll make any changes for baby #2 though. Since it will be his/her room forever, we'll see what s/he starts to show interest in.
Why am I always typing "she" when I think of baby #2?!
Jordan - glad you had a good appointment and you got an Rx!
QOTD - No real cravings for anything different. Didn't with Aaron either. For the whole first trimester all I wanted was ice cream. Now, tell me, how did I end up losing weight!? Now the appetite is back in full force though.

OMG- I am a Fat F--K!!!! Sorry- but that had to be said. I went for my montly visit today- i gained 10lbs. WTF?? I am sort of depressed- I keep telling myself there is nothing i can do atthis point- just enjoy the pregnancy and deal with the weight loss after the baby. It still does not make me feel better. At least the dr. was not worried. I brought it up to him and he said to watchout for the surgary summer fruits and for the salt intake- pizza, chinese food, etc- all the stuff i crave. We also herd the baby's heartbeat. Loved it.
Next appoint - Sept 2. The dr. told me I would have the blookd work done on that date for the triple whatever they call it. He did not ask me if i wanted the blood work- it was sort of the normal protocol. I will have the lood worka dn pray it comes back ok. BTW- what does it test for again? Thanks. I am such a bad patient.

Oh Roe! I know this won't make you feel any better- but no worries- you're just ahead of the game and giving your baby a nice warm place to grow! If the doctor isn't worried- then you should not be worried!!
So I drank half a coke - and you know what- I feel a little bit better- so Jordan you should try it.

So, how did things go with the endocrinologist? I hope it is easily fixable and not going to be a problem. That is great that you are craving apples!

Oh my gosh, don't feel badly at all for gaining 10 lbs! Seriously, you are NOT fat! You are pregnant, girl! I have heard so many times that your body will gain as much weight as it needs, so don't worry too much about it, especially if the dr isn't worried.

Oh, the airplane theme sounds very cool! Perfect for a little boy! And it'll be interesting to see if the "she" you are typing actually is a she. ;)

I'm glad the coke helped a little bit. I know that when we were little and had stomach problems, mom would sit a can out and let it get flat, then have us drink that. Apparently, the syrup is supposed to help. Have you tried any ginger ale?

Oh my gosh, I couldn't get on here yesterday so now I feel so far behind! No way I can do proper s/o's but I can answer a couple of the questions floating around...
Food - I haven't really craved anything unusual yet - just very strong cravings for things that I ate only occasionally before. Like peaches (luckily my friend has a tree full of them because I can't seem to get enough of them!), french fries, and mac-n-cheese. And it's funny you girls are talking about Coke helping with m/s because for a while the only thing that seemed to help my tummy was a CocaCola slurpee! Between the Coke syrup and the ice, it did the trick. I just had to get over the guilt of consuming all that sugar and caffeine!
Living Arrangements - We own a tiny 2 bedroom townhouse. The second bedroom has been a guest/office/storage/craft room. I don't know where in the world we'll put all that stuff but we're working on clearing it out for baby - slowly but surely... Can't wait till it's cleared out and we're ready to put in the baby stuff!
As for me... I think I might be getting past the worst of this m/s business. I'm really hoping I'm not jinxing myself by saying that! I had my three most miserable days at the beginning of this week and then yesterday and today I really don't feel that bad. It's strange. And of course, the paranoid part of me is thinking - what if something's wrong and that's why you're feeling better?? I swear, I'm just never happy!

hi all!
just wanted to stop in quickly to report on my visit with the endocrinologist...she took tons more blood and will look at that when it comes back at the end of next week. if everything is okay, she said she thinks the hyperthyroidism is pregnancy-induced and i won't need medication.
she thinks it will probably resolve itself by the end of the 2nd trimester and she'll keep monitoring me.
still so nauseated around here!
AusMarchBride
08-08-2005, 12:15 AM
angelgirl That'll be great if you don't need to take medication. I'm hearing you on the nausea :( I'm worried that as I'm now 12.5 weeks, that it's not going to resolve and I'll have it the whole pregnancy. If that happens I will not be a happy camper.
LooLoo
Is this how it is to be a parent? Always worried that something is going to happen to your child??? If so, I'm going to need some serious drugs I think that's exactly what it means to be a parent :D Scary prospect lol
Hi to everyone, hope the morning sickness yuckies start to ease off soon for us all.
I'm doing fine, no problems at all after my CVS (no bleeding/spotting or even cramping).
DH and I have resolved the issue of finding/not finding out the sex of the baby. I dragged him to 3 separate baby shops on the weekend and showed him how there is SUCH cute bedding for boys or girls, but here in our limited market there is very little for non-gender specific nurseries. (I'd give my right arm for a babies r us or some of those other shops you have in North America and I've looked and they don't ship to Australia :( ) So we agreed that I'm allowed to buy crib bedding, one set in pink and one in blue. After the birth, we'll return the spare set. (That's what he thinks, I'd be way too embarassed to return something after 5 months, so I'll probably put it in the back of the cupboard or give it to someone else). So I'm happy with that, and I'm now happy not to find out the sex.
Everyone wins :D

As we passed the 12w mark last week, and also had the good preliminary results for the CVS, we told all the rellies and friends over the last few days.
It's been great fun telling people, and DH has really enjoyed it. I think he sort of now feels a bit more like he's part of the pregnancy. As I've been so crook during the 1st 3 months, and prior to that did IVF, I think he sometimes felt like a bit of a bystander. So I'm really glad he's getting such joy out of it now.
QOTD Is anyone planning a last trip away before delivery?
DH and I decided that we wanted to go away after Xmas as his business shuts for a couple of weeks. As it will be very hot here (middle of summer). and I hate the heat normally and will be even hotter due to the pregnancy, we decided to head to New Zealand for a week. I did my sums and realised I wont be able to fly internationally because it'll be too late in the pregnancy. So we've decided to go to NZ at the end of October instead. I'll be in the second tri (about 23 weeks) and according to all my reading, I'll be loving life at that point ;) . It's about 3 hrs by plane from here to NZ, so that should be fine. Then we'll hire a car and drive around for about 9 days.
My treat (we always try to have one splurge when we go away somewhere) will be to stay here for a few nights. Splurge hotel lol (http://www.kauricliffs.com/Facilities.html) I can't wait.

Well, something is up down in my stomach area and frankly, I am kind of afraid my stomach is getting smooshed already. This scares me because if it’s smooshed now and the babe is still tiny then what will it be like in 3 months? YIKES Anyway, last Thursday and Friday, I had a pb and jelly sandwich and some potato salad for lunch, which left me feeling completely stuffed and really uncomfortable. It kind of reminded me of how I feel after eating Thanksgiving dinner, but I had only eaten a little bit. At first, I thought maybe the potato salad didn’t agree with my system but after the weekend, I started to figure out I was just eating too much at one sitting. So, I am eating far less at one sitting but definitely more often. I just wonder if my stomach is getting smooshed already or if this is just a new symptom. Hmmm….I guess we’ll see as time goes on. But for example, I had an ear of sweet corn and a piece of garlic bread on Sat night and I was full. I had a sliver of cake and a teeny scoop of ice cream a half hour later and it was all I could do to fit it in. Anyone else having this or am I just weird? :p
I have midwife appointment tomorrow morning. Hoping to get the heartbeat on doppler since she couldn't find it last time at 10 weeks. We'll be just about 12 weeks tomorrow so I hope that makes the difference.

Look how cute you are! I think you look adorable. I love your belly!

Your trip sounds awesome. I have always wanted to visit New Zealand. Of course, it's a wee bit farther for us than for you guys! We had a very nice expensive trip to Belize (in Central America) in January so we didn't think we'd go anywhere else for a while. Now, though, we are getting the urge to take a trip. We are thinking maybe just to New York City or something close and easy like that. We'll see though!
Isn't it fun telling people?!? I just love their reactions.

That is awesome to hear that the endocrinologist thinks you won't need medication. I guess I never heard that pg can bring on hyperthyroidism but once you think about it, it would be completely possible. Hope you feel better soon!
LooLoo
Always worried that something is going to happen to your child??? If so, I'm going to need some serious drugs.
Well, once you take some, pass 'em over here because I'm going to need them as well. ;)

Glad to hear you are feeling better! But I can understand the feelings of panic when you realize you haven't felt sick for a while. It is definitely a scary thing. It will be nice when we can feel them moving around and won't have to worry so much! (yeh, like not worrying so much will really happen! :) )

Oh my, I didn't kill the thread, did I?
I had my 12 week appointment with the same midwife this morning. Hubby went with me. The nurse weighed me (at 165, up 4 lbs  ) then I gave my urine sample. She took my blood pressure then I saw the midwife. We went over some questions I had. The first one was if my cervix, which is off to the side, is going to cause problems and she said that it would straighten itself out from the pressure. She said it shouldn’t be a problem at all and that they didn’t care how the cervix was positioned, just that it was there.
Then I asked about the cramps I was having two weekends ago. She was ok with it because they had passed, but she said that I should not be having any more cramping at this point. She said that if I have more than 6 cramps in an hour, I need to call them asap because it could be pre-term labor. She did say that I would be having round ligament pain but no cramps. Fortunately, I haven’t had any since that weekend and of course now I am paranoid that I’ll get them again.
Then out came the Doppler. She moved the chair back to the lying position and started looking around. I’d say it took her about a minute to find it and we only heard it for about 5 or 10 seconds. It was so light but sooooo fast. And then, just like that, it was gone. But, YAY, we heard it and that made me feel so much better. She said it was beating around 165 bpm which I think is pretty high, isn’t it? I think I’m going to post a thread about heart rates vs. sex of the baby and see what kind of responses I get about that.
She brought out the diagram book and showed us the difference between a 10 week fetus and a 14 week fetus. Now I know why my stomach is smooshing. Holy cow, there is a HUGE difference! This little one is growing like mad right now. I couldn’t believe the size change between the 10 and 14 week pictures. The 10 week was maybe an inch long but the 14 week was around 4-6 inches. I was just shocked at the amount of growing this little one is doing right now.
The midwife wrote up my order for my 20 week ultrasound. I thought it was kind of early, but who am I to complain? They fax it over to Kaiser and then Kaiser calls me to schedule it. I’m guessing it won’t be scheduled until around the beginning of October, but we’ll see what they think.
And that was it. I go back on September 9 for another check up. I wanted to go to the same midwife but made it with another midwife because I think I need to be seeing more than one in case I get someone other than her when I deliver. Don’t want to have a stranger in the room!
Oh, and she said my weight gain, blood pressure, and urine was all perfect, which was good to hear!
Hope everyone else is doing well!

Mindy3094- Great to hear that your appointment went so well. Its always nice to have that checkup to hear the heartbeat and get reassured that everything is ok!
I don't have my next appointment for a few weeks. I have my 16 week ultrasound on the 23rd and my doc appointment on the 26th. Finally my hubby will be able to come to the ultrasound with me. (With his job its usually impossible) I am hoping that at this ultrasound we will get to find out the sex of the baby. My doc said at 16 I will be able to tell however I am not getting my hopes up...or trying not to at least :p
So how are all you ladies doing out there? The thread has been a bit slow the past few days and I am starting to miss all the action :) I hope everyone is feeling well!

Mindy- Glad your appt went well. My little bambino had a heartrate of 169 at 8 weeks and I think it went to 155 at 12 weeks. But I still think that is high since the dr. said a normal range starts at 120. It is amazing to hear the hearbeat. I heard a fast hearbeat means a girl.
I had the same issue with my next dr. appt. They recommend you see all the drs in the practice bc you just dn't know who will deliver the baby. For now, I am sticking with my guy- but once things gets closer to the due date, I will mix it up a little.
Cgriffen - omg- can you believ you may find out the baby's sex? I know you are trying not to get too excited- but i cannot help it. It seems so exciting!!!
QOTD - Stollers? Travel systems? snap & Go? etc? What are you thining of getting? I am not sure what to register for. I have the baby bargains book and need to consult that for some advise, but want to see what other girls are thinking about.

I had my appointment yesterday and all is well. We heard the h/b right away, which was wonderful. The rate was 160. But, I won't get my hopes up for a girl because of that. Aaron's was 155 and people told me that was high and he would be a girl. Obviously, that didn't happen. I get to go pee in a cup to check for the UTI and also get a blood test for the Quad in two weeks. Yippee. Then I see the doctor again on the 9th. I'm finally going to see "my" doctor this time. I've seen one of the other doctors and the midwife so far. I love them all, so it really doesn't matter to me who I see.
My appetite has finally come back. I ended up losing another 1/2 pound for this last appointment, but I told the nurse that it will change next time. I want to eat every hour! She seemed a tad concerned that I wasn't gaining yet.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mindy - Glad your appointment went well. Aaron moved around a lot when we tried listening to his h/b too. Little bugger! I hope your little one is more cooperative next time so you can listen a bit longer.
roe - cute belly! I'm sure my belly will never look as cute, so I won't be posting belly shots at all. Last time my belly was square!
Ann - your trip sounds great! I would love to take a trip before the babe is born, but I don't see it happening. You'll have to enjoy the trip for all of us, ok? :)
angelgirl - I hope your m/s goes away soon! Have you tried preggo pops? I've also heard that chips and lemonaide works for some (salty & sour).
QOTD - I'm researching double strollers right now. For Aaron I used the Kolcraft Universal stroller while he was in the bucket. I LOVED IT! We also got a Combi stroller for use now because it's super light and folds really small. We had to fit all of our stuff in a Camry trunk when visiting my mother and space was precious. We just bought a minivan though (we need room for MIL when #2 comes since she doesn't drive), so I can get whatever stroller I want.
Wow! I need to keep up with this thread more. Hello to everyone, and I hope some of the morning sickness is going away for you ladies!
Mindy- How exciting to hear the heartbeat! We get to hear it on the 16th at my appointment, and I can't wait. When we told our parents last weekend, my MIL went straight home and pulled out one of her stethoscopes to give to us for the heartbeat. We tried to hear it, but I think it is too early to hear on a stethoscope, I was told maybe at 16-17 weeks.
Roe- Love the belly shot! Can you ladies believe that soon there will be a ton of belly shots on this thread? I can't believe how quickly time is passing!
Ann- We are still trying to decide on what trip we will take. New Zealand sounds fantastic- I have always wanted to visit there, but of course, as someone else said, that is a bit of a larger trip for those of us up here!
QOTD: We are trying to decide on strollers. I am neurotic and have almost everything else picked/planned out, but I am having such a hard time with the stroller! We know that we need a jogging stroller but we can't use that until the baby is able to hold up it's head around 6 months. We were thinking about a really lightweight stroller, but I don't want to spend the money on a really good stroller that holds an infant seat (P3), because we can go even lighter with an umbrella stroller at around 6 months, so that would seem like a waste of money. So far, the plan is to buy a Bob Revolution jogging stroller with the infant seat attachment. It does fold up pretty compact, and this is the stroller I can imagine we would use the most (we are not mall crawlers). Then, when the baby is a little older we can buy an umbrella stroller for short trips. The only problem with our current plan is that I really don’t want to have the baby in the infant seat all the time. Ideally, we would get a jogging stroller with a seat that totally reclines.

AusMarchBride/Ann Your trip sounds wonderful. My DH and I went to New Zealand a few years ago (before we were even engaged). The flight over from the states was a bit long, but very much worth it. :) We stayed almost 2 weeks and had a blast! I think my favorite part was the South Island. We stayed in Christchurch for a few days, took a train ride, went to Doubtful Sound (much better than Milford), and drove around exploring. We keep saying how we have to go back, someday. We'd also love to go to Australia for a month just to look around and maybe see the Formula1 race. :)
As for us. We're now 12 weeks 2 days. We have the 3.5 hour ultrasound and bloodwork tomorrow, and I'm getting a bit nervous. I'm worried about both babies, since I've been bleeding and spotting most of the first trimester. I think the bleeding and spotting is one of the reasons my OB suggested this test as opposed to the CVS or Amnio. We've already been having bleeding issues, so she didn't want to do anything invasive. My tummy really popped this past week. I think I'm down to 3 pairs of shorts that are comfortable. I'll be glad when it looks like a baby belly instead of a pudgy belly. ;)
Oh well, hi to everyone I missed, I gotta get back to work.

QOTD- DH and I went to Babies R Us and tried out almost every stroller. took the carseat out, closed and opened it, walked with it etc and we decided on the Quattro Tour Travel System - Kenbrook. It is made by Graco. I liked it because it was easy to use, and seemed pretty sturdy. Some of the others made it pretty far in our book but when it got to simple things such as the buckles, straps and the removal of the carseat it would get tricky. That was the last thing I wanted, to be frustrated every time baby and I went out... :)

Spent the morning having some quality time with the porcelain god. :( Once again, I took my prenatal at 5am when I got up to use the bathroom. I couldn't get back to sleep, so I went to the living room to watch TV. It seems as though if I can't take them and go right back to sleep, I will hurl.
Went to BrU over the weekend and scoped out gliders. I love LOVE the Shermag, which seems to be a knockoff of Dutailier. The glider + ottoman are going to cost more than the crib and travel system we want... together! But, I think the glider is going to be more important than I know. We're going to order it soon, since it has a huge lead-time (12 weeks for standard fabric!) and I want it by the time i'm 7-8 months, so I have somewhere very comfy to relax when I reach beached-whale proportions.
Next OB appt is 8/26. Big ultrasound is scheduled for 9/18.
QOTD - We looked at strollers for a bit at BrU. We're probably going with a travel system, since they have the most bang for our buck. My best friend has a travel system and she really likes it.
I'm now still able to wear my pre-mat pants, but I'm finding that my mat pants are SO much more comfy. I was PG back in the winter and bought mat capris for this summer and I'm SO glad I did.

Yes, it was cool to hear the heartbeat. Huge relief!

Thank you! So Aaron was an active little guy, huh? They are just so small right now and have lots of room to move around, I am sure they are having a ball in there. That will soon change though as the space gets cramped!
Glad to hear your appetite is back!
LRL
Hmmm..yeah, I think it maybe a little early to hear the heartbeat with the stethoscope. It was hard enough to find with the Doppler! I have read that you may be able to hear it with a stethoscope around 18-20 weeks but it really depends on the position of the baby and the placenta.
Astro
Yay for popping! I’ll be glad when I look pg as well and not just fat, you know? Wow, a 3.5 hr u/s? That sounds very thorough. I will be thinking of you and hoping everything turns out perfectly!
jennapeach
I'm sorry that your prenatal is making you sick. Now, that just doesn't make sense, does it? You'd think they'd make something that wouldn't make m/s worse, you know?
Thank for the info on the chairs. I have looked a little but am really stuck on which one to get!
Stroller
We are going to be getting the Graco Snugride car seat, probably in Windsor:
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0002U1TRG.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg
It’s part of a travel system and goes with the Quattro Tour Stroller:
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0002ISF5W.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg
You will find that Baby Bargains doesn’t recommend the travel systems but this stroller has excellent reviews on the Babies R Us website so that has to say something. We’ll check both out in the store, and barring anything horribly wrong with it, this will probably be what we end up with. It looks like cgriffin agrees!

Hello all! I've been quiet because yesterday I was very cranky (see my journal if you care) ;) Had my second appointment today. I went in for a "first look." which is suppose to be a blood test, ultrasound and then they can see if the baby has DS or any other genetic problems. I'm not high risk, but I thought it would be nice to get piece of mind. Well, I got the ultrasound- and SAW the baby- so cute. The baby was dancing and seemed DH thinks he/she winked at us. I think the baby pointed at me and said I love making you sick mom! ;) Anyway, the heartrate was 150 - so I guess that could indicate boy- but the doctor said that really had nothing to do with it. It seems like everything is great. I saw two legs- two arms, a head, a nose and a mouth and the technician saw a bladder and a stomach- so that's good! so then I go up to see my Doctor- first time I'm seeing her - and I learn from the nurse that they screwed up and that they are not qualified to do the first look at the office and that I have to go to the hospital- (the hospital is in downtown Boston I'm already 2 hours late for work) and I have to do tihs TODAY because it has to be done before 13 weeks. I was a little annoyed about that! So, I talked it over with DH and the doctor and we decided that I don't need to do the first look since I'm not high risk at all. I really hope I don't regret that decision! Anyway, I got more blood taken- and heard the heart beat which sounded strong, happy and AMAZING! Also, I lost 2 pounds since the last appointment- but my doctor didn't seem concerned.....
I think we are also FINALLY going to tell the families tonight!
QOTD: I can't believe you guys are looking at strollars! eek- I don't feel ready to do that at all.
Next appointment: 9/7/05
Mindy so glad things went well and that your baby's heart sounds good and that your cervix is o.k.
jennapeach my prenatal also makes me sick. Sometimes just looking at it makes me throw up. my doctor told me for the meantime to just have chewable flintstone vitamins!

I'm with you guys... did the water thing as well this morning... not fun!!!!
So excited for all of you who got to hear the heartbeat!!!
QOTD There are two travel systems that I like right now that are very highly reviews on the BRU site: The Aura Elite Travel System in Somerset which is very nice, but then I saw the Laura Ashley Travel System - Canterbury (probably a bit pricey, but so pretty). I was looking at the windsor one like Mindy, but still up in the air.

hi all!
sorry i've been missing for a few days...between the m/s and the headaches, i'm just so out of it.
has anyone else been having awful headaches? i don't know if it's the weather or the pregnancy or both!
so, i'm still nauseated but there's not much i can do about that, except take the meds and hope they work!
4 things:
1. results from the nuchal are in and everything looks good, so far.
2. saw my obgyn yesterday and the babies seems to be doing well!
3. saw/spoke to the endocrinologist. she thinks that the hyperthyroidism is pregnancy-induced and thinks it will resolve itself without medication by the end of the 2nd trimester. we'll keep doing bloodwork, though, to make sure!
3. my next appt is august 25th for a 16w u/s (and cervical length check) and then sept. 7th to see my obgyn.
astro...3.5 hour u/s?! is that how long your nuchal takes or is that something else?
ann...so jealous of your trip. how far is new zealand from you?
thefuture...thanks for the articles!
good to see everyone is doing well, although i'm so sorry for those of you (us!) who are still experiencing m/s. when does it end?!

angelgirl8 Congrats on your nuchal test results. :) Glad to hear the babies are doing well. Also glad to hear you won't need medication for the hyperthyroidism. Great news all around for you. Yes, the 3.5 hour is for the nuchal fold plus a bunch of other measuring for twins. If it was only a single, it's take about 2 hours. They measure everything about the kids. All internal organs, all body parts, the placentas, the rate of bloodflow through the umbilicle cords (completely misspelled), some of my internal organs, the hematoma that's been causing the bleeding, etc. Then we meet with a geneticist for a bit and go over the results. It's going to be a very long afternoon, so I took a half-day off work. :D
Hello everyone. Sorry I haven't posted in forever, I can't keep up with the thread. Glad to hear that everyone seems to be doing pretty well. I had a Dr. Appt. last Thursday. I lost another 3lbs, so that's up to 8lbs total. the Nurse was not pleased with me, but the Dr. didn't seem overly concerned. He said that I should be feeling more like a normal human being in a couple weeks. I sure hope so. I also got to hear the Baby's heartbeat it was 158bpm so we'll see. I had my first break from the m/s yesterday but it was back again today with a lot of dizziness. What can you do? Hopefully we all start feeling better soon. :D
Next Dr. appt. is August 23.
QOTD: I haven't given any thought to strollers, it's all so overwhelming. I'm definately going to keep track of what you ladies like, it will be a big help.
Sorry I'm not doing s/o. there are just so many and I am so far behind. I'm following everyone daily though!

Astro I thought the same thing as angelgirl, 3.5 hrs for an ultrasound? You need a picnic lunch for that :D Hope it all goes well, I'm sure it will.
I'll be glad when it looks like a baby belly instead of a pudgy belly Oh same here, but you'll look actually pregnant sooner due to the twins, you lucky thing. I'll just look fat for longer  I've been to South Island of NZ a couple of times, it's stunning down there, but the Bay of Islands is pretty spectacular too and that's where we'll be spending some time. If you come to Australia, you need a month to really just some of it properly, it's a big place. But with twins in your near future, methinks it'll be a little while before you'll be taking a long overseas trip.
angelgirl Sorry to hear you're still suffering with the m/s, I hope it ends real soon for us all. I had only one filthy headache since falling pregnant, but it was horrible. Could your headaches be something to do with the thyroid problem? I hope they stop for you soon. New Zealand (North Island) is about 3.5 hrs by plane from here, so not too far.
Jordan I'm not sure we even get those travel systems you mentioned down here, but I have absolutely no idea what to buy. I need to go pick the brains of my 3 friends who had babies in the last month and see what they recommend.
LooLoo Enjoy telling your families, it's a fun time.
I can't believe you guys are looking at strollars! eek- I don't feel ready to do that at all Oh me too, but then if I put it off, before I know it I'll be in labout saying, we need to get a crib ;)
jennapeach That m/s is vile. I'm firmly convinced if men were pregnant, there would be a million safe drugs to take that would completely eliminate all the unpleasant side effects. Until then, we have to put up with it

AusMarchBride LOL! Don't even get me started if men had babies- the whole world would stop -I'm sure they'd have guarenteed 12 month maternity leaves- cute, affordable maternity clothes (although that has gotten better for us) - better prenatal vitamins- don't even get me started!

Gosh, having an infant and being pg is so darn tiring ;) I just wanted to update my last ob appt... with #1 I developed PIH and late set pre-e. I guess that has led to underlying hypertension; meaning my bp is normally fine but when my body undergoes stress (pg) then it is very elevated. I am starting meds very early this time in hopes of not ending up on bedrest. I was on bedrest at 26 weeks with Zoey. I will also get very careful monitoring, so I will see my ob and peri once a month. That means I will have an apppt every 2 weeks. I should be used to it... last time I had appt, u/s, and nst 2-3x a week. Anyway, thats us in a nutshell right now :) I am very optimistic that things will go smooth as silk!

Hi ladies! Hope the m/s phase is passing quickly for everyone! Hang in there!
I had my second appointment today and still didn't get to meet my doctor. I was supposed to but she was called away on an emergency. Oh well, they want you to meet everyone in the practice anyway so I'm well on my way with that! Everything appears fine with baby so far. They were able to find the heartbeat really quickly and the dr said it sounded strong and fast like it should. It truly was a beautiful sound! :) I haven't gained any weight since my last appt which she said is okay as long as I'm still eating something. Which I am, just probably not the quantities I should - it's just so hard when nothing sounds good, y'know? I think my last post on here (eons ago!) I was saying how I was feeling better, but that ended up being a short-lived reprieve because no sooner did I type it than the m/s came back. Oh well, it shouldn't be long now, right??
My next appointment is Sep 6th.
QOTD - I haven't looked into strollers/travel systems much yet. When I was still TTC I did some browsing on the Graco site, looking at the cute patterns. But I didn't really do any research. So I'll be taking notes on what the rest of you pick out!

Sorry I've been MIA. I went down to DC to visit with some friends. Saturday I started bleeding. I never cramped and the bleeding pretty much stopped so I didn't panic and decided not to go to the ER or anything up there. On Sunday my mom and brothers came back to NC with me. On Monday my doc's office sent me for an u/s. The baby looked great, saw the heart beat, heard the heart beat and I'm measuring perfectly for a February 25, 2006 due date. The doctor that did the u/s found a small blood clot outside my cervix and said that I would likely continue to bleed slightly and not to worry as long as there was no cramping. We got a picture of the baby and we were very relieved. Yesterday I was standing in the kitchen and all of a sudden I had blood streaming down my legs, it was awful. I still wasn't cramping but I was freaking out internally more then before. I hopped in the shower hoping to clean myself up and hoping the bleeding would stop but it just wasn't. I ended up grabbing one of M's diapers and used that so I wouldn't leak. I finally go into see the doctor around noon. She checked me but also said she was pretty sure I was miscarrying. She asked me if I'd want a D&C or try and let nature take it's course. I said I wanted to try and let nature take it's course and she pretty much agreed with me and said that was what was going on right now. She sent me for another u/s to confirm her beliefs. I refused to look at the u/s because I didn't want to see anything. All of a sudden the tech says if you look here you'll see the baby's heartbeat. My heart sank and then I think I must have smiled slightly. The baby was still alive and it's heart was just beating away. About half-way through the scan my doc walked in and the tech said the baby was viable, my doc said "NO WAY" and got a smile on her face. She was very perplexed but pleased we didn't have to deal with a certain miscarriage. They think I have placenta previa and I have a decently large blood clot below my cervix. It was 1X1 on Monday and then yesterday it was something like 8x5. I'm on strict bedrest for now and go back tomorrow for another u/s and then the doc will sit down with us and talk about everything.
During all of this DH was still up in PA. He decided to come home today and I feel so much better having him home. Our main computer crashed so until now I had no internet. Anyway, that's what has been going on with me, way too much excitement for me, hopefully things will settle down and everything will be fine.

tray622 - I hear you on having an infant and being pregnant! Aaron is 17 months and is too busy for me right now! My house is a disaster and I just don't care. Dh does, but he's not doing anything to help me either. Oh, sorry to vent...

I bled for two weeks fairly heavily and then it tapered off over the past few weeks. Luckily the kids are fine. I hope that you experience something similar in that the bleeding fixes itself and you baby is perfectly fine.
Update on us. We had our 3 hour u/s today. It turned out to be only 2 hours of u/s and 1 hour of genetic counseling. All it all it was fantastic! We have videos of the kids. :D :D They're both about 2.5 inches long, perfectly on track for 12 weeks 3 days. We saw and heard both hearts. Saw the placentas (they're both working well with good blood flow). We watched the kids for a while as they kicked, wiggled, and did situps. Silly kids. We even got some pics and video of them in 3D!!! It was so great. Both DH and I were nervous on the way there. We were both concerned that maybe one might not have made it since there's been so much bleeding in the past few months. We were very happy to learn there's nothing to worry about, both kids are fine, all their organs are working fine, and they're moving.
Forgot to say, The Dr thinks (fairly confident) that they are...

[QUOTE=LooLoo02] Got to tell the families last night! It was AWESOME!!!!!!! It felt so good telling people - now I can't stop! LOL! QUOTE]
looloo-that is so great! This is exactly how I felt. I would even tell strangers, but they would probably think, im a weirdo!
Kelly-How scary! I am glad your baby is ok and that you saw the heartbeat. Keep us posted.
Astro-Congrats on your boy/gril twins, that is so exciting!
I got to admit that I am terribly jealous of you girls that have heard the heartbeat. I don't go to the doctor until 8/18. We hope to hear the heartbeat by then!
Stollers-no idea, I am going to depend on you girls and keep my eyes open!

Kelly- I am sorry that you had to deal with all that stress and worrying. I am glad to hear that everything is ok though. As everyone else is saying, take it easy and rest. We all are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers!
Astro- Congratulations on the awesome u/s. It's is amazing to see the baby (or in your case babies!!) active in there, isn't it? I am glad that they said everything looked good. Oh, and congrats on the boy and girl! That will be so awesome!
tray622 & lynnh- I don't know what it is like caring for a toddler/infant while pregnant but I can say that I know it must be tough. My sister-in-law has a 3 year old, a 15 month old and a 2 week old and I watch her stress levels go up and down all the time. I give you girls alot of credit!

We had our first BRU trip last night. My main goal was to see if I could reach the bottom of the mattress on a stationary crib (the kind where the side rails don’t move down). So we walk in and hubby shows some interest in car seats so we go down that aisle. I hadn't planned on looking at anything but cribs because I didn't want to overwhelm the poor guy. It's overwhelming enough for me when I go in there! So, I show him the Graco Snugride that I am interested in and he seems okay with that. We also learned that the base comes with the seat so the seat and the base are only $99.99 and not $130 like I thought, so that was a nice discovery!
We travel around to the convertible seats and of course, he starts looking at the $89 Evenflo. I find the Britax Roundabout that I want at a bargain price of $199.99 and show him that this is the best rated seat by Baby Bargains and Consumer Reports. So he wants to know why it is so much better than the $89 Evenflo. I honestly didn’t know off of the top of my head but promised to read the reviews to him when we got home. He seemed ok with that but was suffering a little from sticker shock on the convertible seat. I think he’ll be alright though because the car seat is not something we want to scrimp on, you know?
Next was the stroller aisle. He asks, “Do we really need a stroller?” And honestly, I don’t know. I really hate strollers myself but was planning on getting the Quattro stroller that goes with the Graco Snugride. I also plan on getting a front baby carrier and mostly using that. We’ll also be getting a Kelty backpack carrier for when he/she is bigger. So, do we need the Quattro Tour System stroller? I don’t know. It IS $139.99 so it’s not cheap. I told him I had to think on that one. (I ended up talking to my sister later and she doesn’t think we’ll need one until around May or June so we may get away with just getting a basic one for a bigger baby. Not sure yet though). What do you 2nd time around moms think?
Then we hit the Pack n Plays where his eyes bugged out of his head when he saw the prices! LOL, that was great. It was even worse than the car seat sticker shock. But I haven’t picked one of those out yet so I have to look into that and see the difference prices vs. different models. I would be willing to pick one of these up used if it was clean and in good condition.
We also trekked through the swings and the high chairs without much freaking out so that was good. Then we started looking at cribs. The problem is that none of them were set on the lowest setting so I kind of had to guess. I think it’s going to be a stretch to reach the bottom setting for me but doable mainly because by the time you are on the bottom setting, the baby is bigger and it should be easier to get him/her out of the crib at that point. So far, we like this crib the best:
Ameriwood Lifetime Crib by Jardine, $249.99
Contemporary styled 4-in-1 Crib, converts to a Day Bed, Headboard, and a Footboard
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00030EPHG.01.MZZZZZZZ.jpg
It has metal springs that hold up the mattress, a stationary side, and the mattress is adjusted by actually taking screws out and moving it which is nice and safe. No risk of it falling down on its own. It has 8 reviews on BRU’s website with 4.5 stars. It also converts which is a plus. The thing is that I would love to get a Pali or a Simmons crib, but has anyone seen those prices? Schnikees. I just can’t quite stomach that when there are lesser expensive cribs that are just as good.
We checked out rocking chairs as well. I think we *may* eventually order the Jardine upholstered chair and ottoman. We also may cruise the Lazy Boy store and see what they have. I am also going to Cincy next week and plan on stopping at the Sofa Express Outlet on my way back. So, you never know……………..
Wouldn’t you know it – we saw someone we know in BRU?!? We actually know the soon to be dad’s parents who were with the happy couple looking at furniture. I hope they don’t think I am a freak for looking at stuff at only 12 weeks, but oh well. Her DIL is due in October.
BRU did have some maternity shorts (which I have been looking for like mad) but they are all super short! I don’t get these manufacturers. I mean, I don’t like to show off my legs pre-pg and I definitely DON’T want to be flashing them now!
We also stopped at Baby Depot to look at their cribs but didn’t find anything that we really liked.
kelly

QOTD - from a few days ago
People were asking about strollers. My friend found this great website and it reviews practically everything if anyone wants to take a look.
Also, she did a TON of research and purchased the Pliko P-3.
http://strollers.baby-gaga.com/
I'll come back to write more and catch up. The new job has kept me from posting and reading everyday!!!
Hope everyone is well...
Edited to add: Just caught up with the last page. kelly I am so sorry you had to go through this, but so happy to hear all is well.
Just a quick hello to all the Feb Mommies!
Kelly- So sorry to hear about the trouble you have been having. By your post, I can tell that you are definitely a strong woman. I don't think I could handle it as well as you have… you are in my thoughts. I am glad that things are going well.
Astro- How cool! A boy and a girl? Congrats! You get to have the best of both worlds! Cute little baby GIRL clothes and baby BOY clothes!
Mindy3094- Just wanted to let you know that if you plan to buy thee roundabout carseat, they are on sale at Babystyle.com right now for 149.00, normally they are 199.00. Apparently Britax has mandated that there be no more huge internet discounts, and a lot of websites are now selling them for the retail, MSRP price. I bought two on Monday, and they just shipped. Maybe DH will go for the lower price? CR and BB gives the Britax carseats their top rating- I wouldn't skimp in this department… it really makes me nervous. HTH!
Cgriffin- I know you were asking Mindy, but we also have decided to get a no-drop crib. First, we really don't like the look of a rail drop crib, besides the fact that we have NEVER been able to get one of those rails down in the baby stores. I can't imagine having to put a rail down holding a sleeping baby. But, the most important thing to us is safety. We really feel that the stationary rail cribs are sturdier. We have shaken rail drop cribs at a couple of baby stores, and even the most expensive brands seem wobbly. I know that people do this all the time, and that the crib you order probably won't be loose at the bolts, but this scares me. I have a relative who lost a baby due to the crib falling down on him, and I can't possibly imagine going through that. I guess some people would call us overly-paranoid, but both DH and myself are VERY conscious of safety issues and have done a ton of research.

Thanks, but it's all from Baby Bargains and the BRU website! I am a bit of an obsessive planner, not that you could tell or anything. ;)
cgriffin
I also like the stationary cribs because they are sturdier and seem to hold together better. Plus, you have less parts that are moving and could squish little fingers. I tried a couple of the cribs where the rails moved down in the store and they were so frustrating. Some of them even require you to use both hands to release the rail which is just asinine, imho. ;) The only one that I could get down and not fight with was a knee push style and I was even frustrated with that. I would go to the store and try them out and see what you think of the different styles.
LRL
Thanks for the tip! I will run that by hubby tonight!

Thank you all for the wonderful thoughts, they really mean a lot and help.
Sorry I haven't replied to others, I feel quite self-absorbed right now, hopefully that will stop soon and I'll feel more like myself.
I had another ultrasound today. Everything is pretty much the same. The blood clot has grown some in depth which isn't great but it wasn't a huge growth like it was from Monday to Tuesday. I'm still bleeding a little bit but not too much. I'm on bed rest still and will have another appointment and ultra sound next week but don't know when for sure because they were having scheduling problems for next week. I won't be seeing the same doctor so I'm hoping to see the one that delivered Morgan. Basically what is going on is my placenta is trying to prematurely pull away some. The blood clot will eventually reabsorb, the problem with that is that blood is an irritant and it could prematurely break my water which is something we need to avoid. She said the baby seems to be unaffected by everything else going on which is good. I think that's basically it, it's just a wait and see sort of thing for now that they are going to monitor very closely.

Astro - boy and girl! Whoo hoo! Congratulations!
Mindy - I used the Kolcraft frame for the bucket as long as I could. Loved it. The bucket is heavy for me (I'm a whimp), so I wasn't going to be carrying that thing around everywhere! Now we use a $99 Combi because we liked the way if packed. It doesn't have a big basket, but I don't miss it a bit. I use the stroller quite a bit to go to the park or the mall if I really need to get out (I hate malls, but sometimes you've got to go somewhere when it's too hot). I would just go with minimum until you see a need for it, IMO.
Cribs we have one where the rail drops, and you need both hands. I didn't pick it out, it was a hand me down from my sister, so I can't pass up a free crib. I really don't mind the rail. We put it down when we take Aaron out of the crib and leave it down. So, when we put him in asleep (not much anymore, but when he was tiny) it was easy to just put it back up. DH did get annoyed with it because he swore the click woke him up. Could have been the lack of our warm body though, don't you think? ;) One thing to keep in mind if you're getting a stationary crib: When will you have your next baby? I know it's very early to be thinking of it, but if you're going to have one to space them out by two years think about how big your belly will get and how hard it might be to put a baby in then. One of my friends dealt with that and bought another crib for #2, but put #1 in it because of the rails. Just food for thought.
Kelly - don't worry about s/o's! You need to take care of yourself. I'm just glad you're keeping in touch so that we don't worry about you. :)
Geez, I feel like an "old timer".

Lynn Well, you are experienced- and let me tell you - I appreciate it. This baby thing is so new I need all the help I can get! And all these products REALLY confuse me.
Kelly I'm glad you're checking in with us. You know you have tons of support from all your fellow February 2006 mommies to be. I'm hoping you'll be able to rest and think good thoughts and that next week you'll know more.
I've had a rough couple of days. I've had a pain on my side for the past two days - and after I get off this stupid conference call I'm on at work, I'm calling my doctor. I'm starting to get scared. I just saw the baby on Tuesday, so I'm assuming all is good- but then since I told everyone on Tuesday- I'm half freaking out. Anyway- I'm sure the doctor will help. Happy Friday everyone. I don't know about you, but by the time I get to Friday I am exhausted.

Kelly- So glad you posted. I agree- we are so happy to hear that everything is ok. I know you've probably heard it a million times already- but please please get lots of rest..
looloo - I hope everything is ok with you. Please let us know. I am sure it's fine. I complaiend to my dr. latweek abotu some pains in my lower belly. He said there are ligaments down there and I guess they are stretching. It's commm for the pain to come when caughing, sneezing, or turning. good luck to you.
I had a bad day yesterday. The most aweful headache in the world. I left work at about 4:40 and went home to bed. I called dh and told him there was no way I could make dinner, so he could either order dinner or come home and cook what i had planned on making. Of course he ordered out. In all my pain, i was still hungry. So we ate pizza and i went back to bed. I feel a million times better today.
weekend plans
Tomorrow - I am going to my best friends' Daughter's baby naming. I have never been to one before, so it should be interesting.
Sunday - My mom is taking me shopping for maternity clothes. She told me she would buy me an outfit. But we are actually going to an outlet center where there is a Motherhood Maternity outlet store- so I told her since i am saving her $$$ on an outfit, that she shoudl get me two. OMG- am I too imature to be having a baby? I still get babied myself ;). Hopefully they will have some descent stuff. I really need pants.
have a good weekend.

Thank you so much for the stroller information. I think I may just not register for one and then buy one when we feel the need arise. I'm going to write "Kolcraft frame" in my Baby Bargains book for later! I really like the look of the Combis in BRU. They seem simple and not too much. I also didn't think of the #2 pg belly vs. a stationary crib so I am glad you pointed that out! Of course, hubby is sure that I will want another baby after this one, but I honestly don't know. I'll have to think on that one!

Not at all! I am the same way. I am the youngest of 3 girls so I was at home alone with my mom for a few years and it was awesome. Of course, I got a little more spoiled than my sisters, but I loved it. ;) I would LOVE to go shopping with my mom and have her buy me maternity clothes. That would be a blast! Have fun. Mindy Yay for getting your hair done! I need to make an appt too so BADLY!

Just have to post to say this is the cutest thing I've ever seen:
http://birthdayexpress.speedera.net/images.birthdayexpress.com/costume/assets/productpage/251741_0618.jpg
I want to buy it for next Halloween, but my hub has already vetoed dressing up our bebe in a Little Lamb costume if we have a boy. He's no fun. :p
Nausea continues to abate. Whew. I still need plenty of sleep. Wondering if it's too early for Braxton-Hicks? I swear I felt some really light contrax while I was sleeping last night. They weren't painful at all - lower abdomen just felt really firm for a sec. It was noticeable enough that I woke up a couple of times. Then again, maybe I was just dreaming? :D
Roe, I'm totally spoiled, too. This will be my parents' first grandchild and they're ready to buy whatever we want for my comfort or for bebe. My mom is eagerly looking forward to bebe shopping with me. Cute.
ETA Loo Loo, I'm getting sharp pains in my lower pelvis, too. Anytime I move suddenly, sneeze or turn quickly, I get it. It's just that lovely round ligament pain. I wouldn't worry too much. :)
It was my younger stepdaughter's birthday this week, so we're hosting a small party for her tomorrow. I'm so glad my hub has today off. I've delegated a bunch of stuff for him to do so that *I* won't have to do it. Delegation is a beautiful thing!

Roe are we ever mature enough for babies? I'm so not ready for this responsibility I think. LOL. Have fun shopping.
jennapeach that bunny outfit IS the cutest thing! I love it.... So makes you just want to have the little baby already and snuggle.
I heard from my doctor. I guess the pain is my uterus stretching out. It seems to be stretching out quite a bit though. She said that at this time in the pregnancy that would be happening and to take tylenol and put an icepack on it. so at least I know it is normal- but I wish I didn't feel like I just ran a few miles and now have a cramp in the side!
tray love your names!!! isn't is so fun.
That's a good QOTD though- what are the names everyone is thinking of?
If we have a girl we will name her Lily or Lilly still not sure about the spelling - and trying to discuss the middle name. - maybe Anne. For boys we are less sure. Maybe Daniel or Carter.
Happy Weekend!

QOTD: If we have a girl she will be Natalie Catherine and if we have a boy he will be Benjamin Robert. The boy's name was picked out from when we had Morgan. Natalie is just a name I love and Catherine is after my grandmother and aunt that have both passed away.

AUS bride Thanks for posting the boy vs. girl stuff. It's very fun to see! I have a lot from both sides. hmm- maybe 50/50 chance! Ha!
Ventured out to babies R us this weekend. We looked at strollars and I have to let you guys know that for me the Graco just isn't going to work. I'm left handed and I could NOT fold it down. It is pretty much designed for right handed poeple and I don't have a lot of control over my right hand. Also- hello heavy!!! The quatro tour just didn't work for me. I know that many people love the Graco- but I guess I won't be one of them! I did really like the Peg Perego line though- so I'll probably go with that. Any other left handed moms out there? I'd love to know if I'm the only freak out there who had trouble.

Well I'm bleeding again pretty heavily. Just when I thought it was stopping. I have a call into the doctor to see what they want me to do. I was sure I was miscarrying earlier but now I'm much calmer. I actually managed to eat something and relax a little and now I'm surfing the web. I don't know, maybe I overdid it yesterday. Honestly I didn't do much of anything but I did do more then I have since Tuesday when I was put on bedrest. This is really hard, being on bedrest with a 2 year old, I really hope everything calms down and goes back to a somewhat normal pregnancy soon.

Kelly- Glad to see you are posting again. But please please take it easy. I am sure it's very hard with a toddler running around. I hope you have some help at home.
looloo - I saw a friend of mine over the weekdnw ho has a 6 month old- she is using the peg perego pilko3 and loves it. I think I might look into that one. And- it folds up small enough to fit into a car trunk. I've heard with some travel systems you need an SUV.
Ann- I like that list you provided- I am also experiencing both symptoms. I guess we will just have to wait and see.
shopping this weekend - I hate to say it- but it was not as much fun as i thought it would be. I think it's bc i am obsessed with getting stuff i can wear now and wear in a few months when it's colder. It's jsut so hard to predict how big I'll get. Anyway, I ended up getting two pairs of pants and one blouse. I did not get the stuff that fit really well now and looked cute bc i felt it would be a waste of money since the summer is ending and i would want full pants and longer sleeves. ANyway- it jsut annoyed me. I will probably go to Old Navy and grab some stuff off their sale rack.
Hope you all had a good weekend!!

kelly...i hope all the bleeding stops soon. it must be really scary for you. rest up and let us know what the doctor says.
ann...believe me, we're not up to strollers, rooms, names or anything yet! all in due time (no pun intended!) i'm also still sticking around here with nausea and intense headaches!
i love the list you posted...how does it work with twins?!
anyway, i have 10 girl ones and 6 boy ones.
qotd: we don't really have names picked out yet...we haven't actually talked about it yet. we have some grandparents whose names we need to use (or at least the initials) but that's about the extent of our thoughts for now!
and now, a question. for the last few days, i've been noticing a lot of fertile (egg-white) cervical mucus. it worries me because this is always sometning that happened around ovulation and right before my period would come.
is anyone else experiencing this? should i be panicking?
otherwise, still having bad nausea and horrendous headaches. all for a good cause! or two!
Jenna- that Bunny outfit it too cute... I may be tempted if we have a girl!
Kelly- Take it easy and get a lot of rest! (I know that's easy for me to say without a toddler!) We are all thinking about you and hoping the doctor only has good news~
Looloo- I am with you on the strollers. The Graco Quattro system is one of the heavier strollers out there. It has a lot of neat things like a timer/tracker, and big basket, but these things do not matter to me when I will have to juggle an infant in a carrier and folding that thing in and out of the trunk! I am left handed as well, and it was darn near impossible to fold. I also like the P3 but we are trying to only get one stroller... and I think the Bob is best for us.
Ann- That list is interesting- I have a lot of things from both lists AND I KNOW there are not two babies in there, so it can't possibly be both. ;)
roe- MIL wanted to know when we are going shopping for clothes. I told her we could, but I have no cute belly yet. I can't wait to have a baby belly! I am worried about finding clothes for fall as well... everything that I have seen has been very summery, and even the new fall lines seem a bit light. It gets cold here, and is windy daily, so I need to have clothes that are warmer. Plus I know I am going to have problems when I have to find something to replace the suits I usually wear to work. Sigh.
Angelgirl- I have not had any heavy CM, but I know that others have had heavier CM during their pregnancies. Sounds like it is pretty common, but I would give your Dr's office a quick call. I'd bet there is a NP who can answer the question right away over the phone.
I had a great weekend... Fortunately I don't have any morning sickness, but I SO don't feel pregnant. I have no signs at all, and sometimes I think it is a dream- Just a very weird feeling. I guess I will feel better if I can hear the heartbeat at my doctors appointment tomorrow.
Happy Monday everyone!

angelgirl8- In response to your question about the CM. From what my sister-in-law tells me, it is pretty normal to have lots of discharge during pregnancy, more than you would normally have. (She should know, she has had 3 kids in the last 3 years!!) Anyway I think everything is fine, I have been getting it alot lately too but like LRL said, call your doctor if it will help you relax!
LooLoo02- In response to your question, I am left handed and did not really have any problem with closing the stroller. In fact I found it the easiest to use and fairly light for me. I guess that just goes to show you how there can be so many thriving companies out there....everyone has a personal preference!! Go with what makes you happy!
So I was getting very excited that my m/s seemed to be going away but now it is coming back again. still not as bad as before but still......I want it to go away for good!! Yesterday DH and I went to the Jersey Shore with his family for the day and I was a bit hungary so I decided to get something to eat. Well right before my food was ready I felt really sick and on my way to the bathroom I fainted! I wasnt passed out for a length of time or anything but it went black and I fell to my knees. Its amazing how fast you can go from kind of hungary to starving beyond belief!! Kinda scary!
Hope all you other ladies are staying cool this summer. It's been somewhat unbearable for me!

I’m doing well. I have been having headaches which I can deal with. Lately, I have been doing the Great Stomach Balance. If I eat too much, I feel sick. If I need to eat, I feel sick. So I am trying to balance it to eat the right amount of food so my stomach doesn’t revolt against me. It’s been a challenge so far!
My big u/s is scheduled for October 10.

I hope you are feeling better! That is awesome you have girl’s names narrowed down. I am impressed! I am still clueless about a girl’s name!
jennapeach
Oh my, that bunny suit is adorable and it reminds me of the one in The Christmas Story. :D My hubby would definitely veto it as well! I hope the party went well.
LooLoo
I’m so relieved to hear the pain you are having is normal. Now if it would just ease up and go away……………….. ;) Hubby is left handed but I didn’t have him try the strollers in BRU. Next time, I promise!
Ann
I know, I feel like a new woman with my highlights too. Sooooo much better! I have had some pain too when I have twisted around to get something. It’s pretty intense when it happens!
Cool list! From your list, I had 7 boy symptoms and 3 girl symptoms.
More (((hugs))) coming your way, Kelly. Thinking of you and praying for you and the baby!
roe
Oh, that stinks that your shopping experience wasn’t that great. I was in Walmart this weekend with my mom and we walked by the women section when heading to the grocery section. She stopped and looked at a cute shirt and I just kept going ! It’s like I have to force myself not to buy anything that is normal because I won’t be able to wear it for at least 7 more months. It’s hard. Shopping for maternity clothes is not as much fun, especially when they are still too big. So don’t feel bad!
angelgirl
Don’t panic! I had some serious amounts of CM this weekend, and mostly the fertile kind. It’s strange but it’s been a pretty decent amount since the BFP. One of my weekly updates said not to worry if you notice more CM because apparently, this is normal. You are definitely not the only one!
LRL
Glad to hear that morning sickness has left you. :D
cgriffin
Oh my gosh, so scary that you fainted! I'm glad you are ok and didn't hit your head or anything. I know that feeling of going from not being hungry to instant starving. It's crazy!
Names
For girls, we are clueless. I have nothing! No ideas or anything. For a boy, we have chosen Kenneth Jacob. It was hubby’s Gpa’s name and hubby’s name is Jacob so it fits well.

I'm back ! :) I'll get around to updating everything soon - just not today.
Vacation was awesome!
We ended up not going to Boston because it was so darn hot there - 90+ - and stayed in Maine for a few more days with my parents and brother. We basically played in the lake at the cottage Thursday afternoon & Friday. Friday night we went to my uncle's (mom's brother) farm and met my 2 year old cousin Aiden (his grandson) and my cousin's husband. My family is huge so there are some new additions that we hadn't met yet - until last week. Saturday we went to another lake where another of my cousins has a cottage and had a family reunion with the rest of my mom's family. 5 of the 7 siblings were there - one lives in Texas and one just chose not to come because his wife had to work. Butthead. Sunday we drove to Franklin, MA, and had a family reunion with my dad's side of the fam. Monday & Tuesday we hung out with my parents & brother. It was soooo relaxing. We flew back on Wednesday and then went to the Lake of the Ozarks to the IL's lake house and hung out there for a few days. Lots of lake time! I wish I was still there. I know it doesn't sound like much but when you only get to see your extended family once a year, it means a lot to have that week with them! I can't wait until next year when we'll be able to bring baby with us!!!! My cousin Marc and his wife are pregnant with their second so there will be 2 babies there to play together :)
----
Names: for a girl, we're going to do Catherine and call her Cate. I'd like to use my mom's first name as her middle name but I have to sell Jay on it still. Catherine Aline (Ah-lynn - it's French) would be her full name. I showed Jay my family tree yesterday and Catherine is my great-great-great-great etc grandmother's first name. My brother & I are in the 10th generation and Catherine T. is from the 4th generation (generations being those who've crossed the Atlantic and moved to Canada then USA).
For a boy, we both like Alexander but don't like how popular it's becoming. I'm starting to not like it - even though I like the name Alex. If we went with that name, he'd be called either Alexander James or Alexander Matthew. I'm leaning toward James right now - after FIL and GFIL -with Philip as a middle name (my dad). James Philip has a nice ring to it, I think. We'll see.
Ann's list: 5 girl and 10 boy :)
I'll be back later - need to catch up on everyone/everything!

Hi everyone. No time for individual shoutouts.
Just got back from the latest OB appointment. It was the standard 13 weeks. :) The kids stacked on top of each other and both have decided to hang out on my right side. Silly kids, don't they know they should use both sides? Their heartbeats are going like crazy, everything appears fine. I asked her about my continued bleeding/spotting (I bled red again this weekend). She wants me to see a perinatologist this week, so I go in tomorrow. As much as I love to see the kids, I'm getting tired of all the Dr's appointments. Oh well, it'll be good to know why I'm bleeding, how long I'll continue to bleed, if this is nothing to be concerned about or something to be concerned about.
Back to work, talk with you guys tomorrow.

It's been a LONG day. The doctor's office didn't call me back until about 2pm. She got my info and called back around 3pm and said that only one doc was in the office today and she wanted me to go to the ER to be evaluated. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go or not. The nurse told me it was my choice (like they could make me) but that Dr. F (my fave) would feel better if I got checked out there. Around 3:30 my neighbor got home and we asked her to watch Morgan for us. We didn't get to the hospital until around 4:30 and then they didn't take me back until around 8:15. I saw the doc, he did a quick exam, and he called my doc and away I was sent. I refused to let the nurse do the "obligatory" IV, blood draws, etc. I didn't see a need for an IV of saline so I told her she couldn't do it until after talking to the doctor. She was super nice and said it was fine. The doctor came in and was really cool. The nurse couldn't find the heartbeat on the doppler (plus the doppler battery died on her too) and then the doctor found it later but I felt like he was going to push the doppler through my stomach. No ultrasound because I'd still be there, they were pretty slammed with a few car accidents and people with chest pains. I call the doctor tomorrow and follow-up later this week. I'm not bleeding anymore, just the stuff that's already there and my cervix is closed nice and tight. I could sort of hear him talking to my doctor on the phone and he said something about something being slightly open but it wasn't my cervix, maybe he saw the blood clot? I don't know. Thing is, baby is still doing great and I'm not loosing too much blood or anything like that.
Thank you all for your thoughts. This is going to be one rocky pregnancy, full of scares, hopefully I'll make it through. I'm so emotionally drained already, I feel like such a big baby because I pretty much cried most of the day away.

Kelly Oh dear- what a day you had. So much for the "emergancy room" I can only imagine how hard a day you must have had. And please don't feel like a baby- you have SO much going on- and don't forget that being pregnant makes everyone feel like crying - and you have a lot of stuff happening on top of just being pregnant. we're all pulling for you here and thinking positive thoughts.
Astro those little babies just loveeach other and want to be sooo close. Can you feel them yet?
aligirl Sounds like you had a fun trip to New England. I live in the Boston area and yes- we had a hot weekend. It has cooled off nicely though today. (that's New England for you!)
Mindy Hope the headaches are getting better. I too have been trying to do the great stomach balance. Of course- mine just perfers I don't eat at all- but when I do try to force food down - I have to make sure I eat very very small portions otherwise I'm up all night!
Thanks everyone for the strollar comments. What a ride this is!!! and we didn't even get to swings!!!! LOL!

thanks everyone for the info on increased CM...thing is that i'm also having increased cramping, mostly in my back, so that's really worrying me.
called the obgyn at 10pm last night and she said there's nothing we can really do, just rest and drink water. it's not the pain that bothers me, it's the fear.

Not much to report here. I am going to stop at the Sofa Express Outlet this weekend. Hubby gave me the green light to buy a chair if I found one I liked so that was nice! He won’t be with me. I’m also going to stop at a fabric outlet and I have my mom figuring out how much I need to buy (if I find one I like) for a bumper, curtains, and crib skirt that I volunteered her to sew. :) I know she's probably thrilled! lol
I stepped on the scale this morning and now think I’m going to hide it in the closet from now on. Yikes

So cute they are both hanging out on your right side. They apparently like each other. ;) At our friends’ big u/s for their twins, their little girl was kicking their little boy right in the privates! They get along and play well now but it was pretty funny hearing the story. :D
Kelly
What a night you had! Don’t feel bad for crying. I cry at stupid commercials these days so you are entitled to sob your eyes out all you want with all of the stress that you have been under. I was glad to see that your bleeding stopped, that the baby is doing fine, and that your cervix is nice and closed. Those are all good things! (((HUGS))) You know we are all here for you!

Ha ha, I so have that sweater in black from Old Navy! It doesn’t look very maternity when it’s not buttoned down the front so I’ve already worn it twice. Love it!

((HUGS)) I hope the cramping goes away. I had some a couple weekends ago and it scared me pretty badly. I just drank lots of water (like 8 oz every hour) and laid on the couch for a while. It did go away and I’m sure yours will too.

Ladies, I have a question for you all. I know that cramping has been a popular topic of conversation so I am thinking that some of you may have some feedback on this: I just started having a little cramping on my left side right under my ribs, it feels like i was running and got a cramp from that. I am sure it is nothing...just wondering if any of you have had this? I just finished a big lunch too which many times leaves me feeling odd. Just thought I would put my question out there:)
I am editing this post to now add that I am feeling a sharper pain on my left side but this time it is farther down below my underwear line. It isnt a constant cramp, it feels more like little jabs. I am wondering if this is the round ligament pain, or the baby or something to be worried about.
Any input anyone? TIA!

cgriffin I've had the same experience off and on (mostly on) for the past 5 days. I called my doctor and she said that it was my uterous stretching and this was normal for someone around my time 13-14 weeks. She recommended putting a cold pack or heat pack on it and taking tylenol. I've been doing that- and it doesn't really make it go away, but makes me feel better. I'd still recommend calling your doctor though- just in case.
it's not the pain that bothers me, it's the fear. Angelgirl Have truer words ever been spoken?? I mean that's the whole thing with this crazy pregancy. Anything crazy brings fear tom me immediately!

QOTD- So has anyone felt the baby yet? They say that around this time (15 weeks) you may start to feel the flutters of your little one....I am anxious!

Hello everyone, I am so far behind on what is going on. I haven't posted in a couple of weeks but I have been just worried.
Kelly: I am going through what sounds like the same thing. About two weeks ago (13 wks) I was sitting felt what I thought was a bladder issue, went to the bathroom to discover I was bleeding, and not just a little. Called the dr, they had me go straight to the office. Of course I was crying the entire way there, b/c this is my 3rd pregnancy and have never experienced bleeding before. They check me, cervix was fine and found the baby's h/b right away, so dr thought it may have been burst blood vessel. Then last monday night had the same thing happen. They didn't send me to the e/r b/c dr said nothing they could do so just come to the office 1st thing in the am. So last Tuesday they checked me again, found the baby's heartbeat and then sent me for an u/s, thinking maybe it was placenta previa. But everything looks okay on u/s, baby is fine and moving all around, placenta is fine and in a good position, and fluid and cervix are fine. So basically they don't know what is going on. I have stopped bleeding and so far it hasn't happened again, but I have been so worried. I have a 5 and 3 year old also so it is hard to take it easy but I am trying.
Anyway sorry for the long story, but just wanted to give an update. I am 15 weeks today, and I think I started feeling a little fluttering! Yeah, I am hoping the nausea goes away soon.
I will try to be better about posting more often.

jenryan- it seems like you have been through a lot. I hope for you and kelly everything will be ok. It sounds like you both have your hands full with babies at home.
uterus stretching - I was talking to my friend over the weekend who had a baby in January. She was telling me that when she was pg- she would be doubled oved in pain at her desk from cramps of her uterus stretching. I don't get them that bad- but it seems very normal (though scary).
CM- I began reading week 14 in my What to Expect book and the CM was mentioned in this chapter. They said it was normal and common to occur at around 14 weeks.
baby flutter - I think i did feel a flutter last week. I was so excited. Of course i consulted my book and they pretty much said it could have been gas  I have not felt anything since. If it was gas, it was nothing i had ever felt before. I told dh that i felt it and he was a little bummed that he will not be ale to feel those things for quite awhile. I cannot wait to feel the first kick!!!
Hello to all!
Crazy day at work today, no time for complete S/O's- Jenryan and Kelly- still thinking about you and praying for the best!
Had a doctors appointment today. Doctor took out the Doppler, and we got to hear the heartbeat. The heartbeat rate was in the ~150 BPM range. DH came with me for the first time to meet the doctor, and he was so excited! He waited until we were in the car and told me that he had to remain cool or the doctor would have thought he was odd. DH told me that he was a little worried "because you're not growing". LOL. Men.
Doctor was a little worried because I have very slight high blood pressure… argh. I try and try to make those numbers "appropriate" for my age, but they are always a little elevated. She told me to go to the store and buy some Mylanta with calcium and magnesium so that it controls it slightly, and that it supposedly can help prevent pre-term labor a little bit too. Interesting, huh?
I am a little disappointed though. At my first ultrasound, the tech told me that there is a small cyst on my left ovary. I know that it supplements hormones at first- and then the placenta takes over, but I was hoping to get another ultrasound out of it. The doctor doesn't want to schedule another one until the beginning of Nov! That is SO far away! :(
I discovered the weirdest thing… last night when I changed into my night bra I noticed that my nipples were damp. There was no liquid or anything, but they were moist. So strange- fluid leaking already?
Aligirl- Sounds like your vacation was great! Welcome back!
Roe- Can't wait for the first kick either!

I discovered the weirdest thing… last night when I changed into my night bra I noticed that my nipples were damp. There was no liquid or anything, but they were moist. So strange- fluid leaking already? Wow, that must have been weird. But I have read that by this stage the boobs are making colostrum, and it's not that odd to have leaking. Would have given me a fright though.
roe6373 Must be amazing, feeling the baby already. I have so much gas during this pregnancy that the baby would have to fight to make itself noticed ;) I've read that in 1st pregnancies you usually don't feel the baby until later, around 20 weeks +.
jenryan and kelly I send you hugs ladies, you're both having such a tough and scary time of it. Take care of yourselves. And feel free to post away in here about what you're feeling, if we can support we will.
cgriffin and LooLoo I've had the uterus stretching thing too, and sometimes it hurts a lot. It's usually bad when I move suddenly, or stand up quickly. I've only had the stretching pulling pain, not actual cramping.
angelgirl
it's not the pain that bothers me, it's the fear Oh so very true. I didn't expect pregnancy to be scary. I thought seeing as I had waited so long and then tried so hard with IVF that it would be fun and happy all the time. How dumb am I ?
i love the list you posted...how does it work with twins Absolutely no idea :D
Astro So cute about the twins hanging out on one side only. I'm sure that before long you'll be wishing they were small enough to only be on one side ;) Hope your perinatologist appt goes well and she's able to give you some reassurance.
aligirl
We basically played in the lake at the cottage Thursday afternoon & Friday Oh that sounds wonderful, how lovely and it also sounds like you had a great time with all your family.
Mindy Your big ultrasound is in October, seems ages away. Forgive me this stupid question, but why is it a "big" ultrasound?
cgriffin
So I was getting very excited that my m/s seemed to be going away but now it is coming back again Oh me too. I had a couple of days last week where I thought yeehaa, it's going away, but noooooo. Guess bub was just teasing me :D
Re the name thing, I bought one of those baby name books and DH and I went through it last night. It has 15,000 names in it. We found about half a dozen girls and about 8 boys names we liked. It's quite tough for us as the middle names for a girl are already decided, (my mum's name and my husband's mother's name) and then my father's name for a boy's middle name. Our religion says that we name after dead relatives not living ones, so it sort of stops you from using a lot of names. We also both want fairly traditional names, we are not the type to be using alternate spellings or making up names. That's not a criticism of anyone who does, it's just not "us".
Got my detailed results from the CVS today, all normal so that's great. My husband is such a sweetheart, he rang me before the results were available because he'd been sitting at his desk stressing about them.
I'm doing ok apart from the all day morning sickness, and a few headaches which I've been getting lately. I have my next OB appt next Friday, so that'll mean another U/S (my OB does them as standard with all her patients) which is always nice. Boobs appear to have stopped in what was their ever increasing intent to take over the world, and I'm just starting to feel a bit thick in the waist. (Some would say that's just to match my head!).

Nothing much going on here. Just trying to find the most comfortable clothes in my closet! Tight clothes are definitely out. They may still fit but they are so uncomfortable! Hello elastic!
cgriffin
I have had some weird pains, but nothing similar to what you described. But I think LooLoo pretty much answered your question. Nothing to worry about! I would only worry if I actually had menstrual-like cramping. My midwife said if I had 6 or more of those in an hour, I was to call immediately. Ugh, one more thing to worry about, huh?
jenryan
I’m so sorry you have been having some bleeding. I cannot imagine how scary that must be. But it is awesome that the baby is fine and you are feeling some fluttering! I’ll be thinking of you!
roe
Hopefully that was baby flutter you were feeling! My midwife said it can feel like gas so you may be onto something. ;)
LRL
That is great you got to hear the heartbeat. LOL, your DH is cracking me up. I’m sure the dr. has seen some pretty excited hubbies in there many many times. :D Very interesting about the Mylanta. I have never heard of that!
Ann
Hmmm….. I have seen the 20 week u/s being called the “big” u/s because that is where they do all of the measurements of the baby and his/her parts to make sure everything is there and growing properly. Also, this is when you can find out the sex if you want! I have only seen it called the “big” u/s on the boards and such so if I said this to my dr., she’d probably look at me like I had 2 head s or something. :D
Awesome news about your CVS results!
Baby Flutter I am a little behind at 13 weeks and I haven’t felt any fluttering or anything. I do sometimes feel weird sensations and get all excited only to realize it was just gas.

This thread does move fast! But it is so nice to come in and see updates.
jenryan Yikes about the bleeding! I'm glad to hear that everything is o.k.
roe Don't let them fool you- it was the baby fluttering! Those are the same people who say when the baby smiles it is just gas. People just like to take the wind out of your sales. ;)
LRL I'm calling your husband Fonzie from now on because he is just so cool......
Ann glad the CVS results came out just fine! yay!
Mindy not that you want to spend more money- but have you ever been to babystyle? They have some nice transition clothes.
I don't have too much to report. Still feeling sick and tired. I haven't felt any flutters yet. Did want to share my first inappropriate pregnancy comments/actions from others though. So I just started telling people last week and am slowly making the rounds with the news. I've had a couple people ask me if this is our first (meaning had I misscarried before this) and if the baby was planned, and if we were trying for a long time. I think all of those questions are inappropriate and can't imagine ever asking someone that. And then finally, someone at work (a woman) lifted my shirt yesterday to LOOK at my belly! I was perpared for touching! but looking??? When is that ever appropriate? First of all, I've probably lost between 8-10 pounds so NO I'm not showing yet- and if I was, I don't think it is nice to grab someone's shirt and look at their stomach? If I didn't that to someone who wasn't pregnant it would be sexual harrassament! Anyway, just wondering what other people have experience regarding inappropriate pregnant behavors. I'm sure it will be worse before it is better.

Saw a different doctor then I thought but I think I like her better this pregnancy. Kurt liked her (he swears he never met her but I think he did once last pregnancy but whatever) and she fussed over Morgan.
Where to start? I feel like everytime I go to the doctor I get more and more information which is good.
I am no longer actively bleeding, there's just "crap" (as the doctor referred to it) in my vagina and it is slowly coming out. Cervix is closed and feels "perfect" (her words again). She found the heart beat on the doppler pretty quickly and I think she was more excited about it then I was, she was really sweet today. Oh, before I forget, she first thought I had miscarried because my chart had not been fully updated so we had to play catch up on some of the stuff and she was horrified once I told her I WAS pregnant, she was thrilled or at least she seemed to be. They had me get another ultrasound and the woman that does them in the office has started joking with me and has become quite friendly (not that she wasn't before but we're starting to get to know eachother). I didn't have to have the transvaginal scan today (THANK goodness) as she was able to do everything via the abdominal scan. The clot has gotten a little smaller and I was told that they would not be surprised if I passed a big clot. They told me not to be alarmed (I haven't passed any clots yet) if I do because if it's just a clot I'll know. If I do miscarry I will know that as well since I'm much further along now. Of course I need to call the office if I do but not to panic. I think the baby's heart rate was 166 on the u/s, I forgot to ask the doctor when she listened with the doppler.
I'm still on bedrest but I got the green light to go out to dinner tomorrow night for my birthday. I have no idea where we will go or how much I'll actually be able to eat but at least I have the doctor's okay to go out and celebrate. Actually her birthday is the day after mine and when I told her I was turning 30 she said I HAD to go out. She was very sweet and wished me a happy birthday at least 3 times. I don't have to back for 3 weeks! I'm so excited that I get a little rest from appointments as long as everything goes okay. Kurt and I think that next week I'll pass more blood though because that seems to be my trend. Who knows, all I know is that the baby is doing fantastically, growing right on schedule and does not seem to be a bit phased by any of this.
Overall a great visit, I just wish there was a time frame they could give me about when the clot might go away, absorb or whatever it's going to do. Oh and the clot is no longer all around my placenta, it seems to be focus on the left side near my placenta.
I keep forgetting things, I also have bacterial vaginosis and that definitely can irritate the cervix so I have medicine for that so hopefully that will clear some stuff up too.
I know I'm feeling the baby move, when we were in the ER the other night while they were trying to find the heart beat we could hear the baby moving and I was able to confirm that what I was feeling was the baby. It's very reassuring after all the scares we've had to feel baby move around a little each day.

Kelly Did you just get the best birthday gift ever or what?? HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I am so relieved to hear that everything is o.k. and that the heart beat was going strong and that you have a PERFECT cervix! I hope eveything continues to go well... Happy 30th!

Thanks LooLoo, it's an awesome birthday present but I found out I was pregnant with DD on my birthday in 2002 and really it's hard to compare. They are both great presents though. I haven't even really had much time to think about turning 30 with everything else going on, nice distraction so to speak.

Treated myself to my favorite bagel - Super Cinnamon with cream cheese - this morning to celebrate crossing over into the 2nd trimester. :D
No flutters for me yet, although I posted the other day that at night, sometime I wake up to *something* going on. Not sure if it's BH contrax, quickening or just me imagining things, but it only happens at night.
Went to Old Navy last night and bought a couple of things. Guess the stuff I bought is the new season, cause they're not online yet.
Worked on a spreadsheet yesterday that basically tells me how long I can take for maternity leave with my PTO, disability, Paid Family Leave, savings and such. I'm totally anal about this type of thing and I needed to know we'd be ok for x amount of time before I could relax. Dorky, I know, but I feel so much better knowing I can take off a good 4 - 6 months without us hurting financially.
Question for you all: I'm a Diet Crack... errr Coke fiend. I gave up DC as soon as I found out (most soda, actually). But, now that I'm out of the first tri, I find myself craving an occasional DC. My doctor doesn't really encourage consumption of artificial sweeteners, but she didn't outright say "no" either. Does anyone else drink Diet Coke, Pepsi or drinks sweetened with artificial sweeteners? I don't intend to drink a six-pack a day or anything, but I want to indulge every once in a while. ;)

hi all...thanks for weighing in on the CM and cramping. i got nervous enough (like i'm not nervous all the time, anyway!) to call my obgyn. she contacted the hospital where i do my ultrasounds and they squeezed me in. so instead of my appointment next week, i had it yesterday!
they did a cervical length measurement (normal for twin pregnancies at the hospital) and measurements on the babies (femur length, head, abdomen). they both look perfect and have the exact same heartbeat at 150bpm. i feel much better.
still nauseated, of course, and wracked with headaches (although they're better in the last 2 days...maybe you're next ann)!
just thankful everything was okay.
updates (you rock with the updates, by the way): next 3 appointments are...august 30 (cervical check), september 7 (obgyn) and september 13 for the BIG u/s.
they scheduled my "big" u/s for the anatomy scan for sept. 13. it's a little early. i'll be 18.5 weeks then, but i'll be back 2 weeks later anyway, just in case they can't measure all the organs. fun!
as for the baby moving thing...i haven't felt anything yet. i did hear that you feel it later with first babies, but i wonder if having 2 in there will mean that i feel it sooner??
kelly...so glad everything is okay!
ann...yay for final CVS results! glad the boobs have decided to cease the hostile takeover of the world.
looloo...i can't believe your "inappropriate people" story. some people are just nutty! i haven't had anyone do/say anything too weird yet!
jenna...i wish i could help with the artificial sweetener thing, but i don't really drink soda or anything. i'm sure it's okay in moderation!

08-17-2005, 11:42 AM
Jenna, I would go ahead and indulge every once in a while. Most doctors say moderation is key with just about everything. If you drank one or two a week I seriously doubt it would be a big deal. I'm occassionally drinking sprite or rootbeer since they don't have caffeine in them. My last pregnancy I had horrible caffeine withdraw and would have half a coke/pepsi a day because otherwise my head would feel like it was going to explode.

08-17-2005, 12:49 PM
Jenna I feel like you and I are the same sometimes! LOL. Prepregancy I too was a diet coke addict. Way before my little bean was even a glint in my husband's um eye I asked my doctor if it was o.k. to still drink it. She said sure. One a day wouldn't hurt. Now that I've turned into insane pregnant lady (someone I really didn't expect to be) I haven't had any- but really only because I'm not craving it. I've had a couple of cokes to help with the nausua and some rootbeer as well. I've read that diet coke is fine. So I say, enjoy! ;) Probably not up to what once was a 3/4 can a day habit (oh that was me.) - but like everyone who has responded I'm sure it is fine in moderation
angelgirl8 glad the babies are doing great! They have the same heart rate as my baby- 150. so it MUST be a good sign. ;)

I can olny do a quick s/o
Jennapeach I love dc. I used to have one a day before the baby. Now i stay away from it. However, I know a girl who drinks in while pg and she said it was perfectly fine. I am not sure i agree with that. I did ask my dr. if i would drink crystal lite or wyler's lite and he said the artifical sweetener in those drinks are so nominal that it's fine to drink them.

Thanks for the feedback on the DC! I broke down and had one at lunch today.... sooooooo good! Roe, good to know about the Crystal Light and such. I bought some before BFP and haven't used it since b/c I was unsure.
LooLoo, I was probably taking in 2-3 cans per day, pre-BFP. (sigh)
I do drink a ton of water during the day, but I like something with a little flavor when I'm eating. Not sure why. I usually either want soda or iced tea. It's been kinda hard finding a good compromise. I guess if this is my biggest problem right now, I'm lucky! ;)
My mom and I are scheduling a spa day for Sept! I have to start using some of my PTO days before I get maxed out. My dad bought us both GCs for a day spa, so I can't wait to get a PG massage.
As for inappropriate comments, my BIL's GF asked me if I was going to breastfeed. WTH? I think that's a very personal question to ask. I am planning to, but things happen. What if I can't? Is she gonna third-degree me? And, we all have another 5-6 months of this!

I got a lot of the same questions you all are getting when I was pregnant with DD. It depended on who was asking the question as to weather it bothered me or not. The further along with pregnancy the more questions you'll probably get. They will start asking if you're carrying twins (when you're not), they will probably say things like wow, you must be due any day now when in fact you still have several weeks left. You know, things that make a pregnant woman feel oh so great about her appearance. I just ignored most of the comments and every once in a while would be obnoxious back. I even said "I'm pregnant, what's your excuse?" to some man that was obnoxious who said something about me being huge when really I wasn't that big yet. Yeah these hormones bring out the best in me.
roe6373

Kelly - Love your "what's your excuse" comment!!! That made me laugh out loud.
inapproriate comments - I have not had anyone touch my belly yet except for friends/family. I don't mind that. But my SIL also asked if I planned on breadfeeding. Followed by saying how it's such a personal decision and then she went into a 15 minute rant on how she did not breatfeed and how perfect her kid is. She clearly needed validation for making her choice- but it ticked me off bc she had said how personal the choice was but then shoed down my throat all the positives for bottle feeding. In any event, I am going to try to breastfeed.
I went shopping last night with my MIL. We started at pea in a pod and I pretty much walked out laughing at them. I knew they were pricey- but I as BLOWN away. The lady showed me a pair of black pants that she said were very popular bc they are tres comfortable. She did say they were more expensive. I honestly thought that more expensive for maternity pants would be $70/$80. Not $240. I almost died when I saw the price tag. We left there and went to Motherhood and picked up a pair of pants, two tops and two tee shirts for $116. Thank you very much. :D

Whew! All caught up! I was w/o internet access since Friday night. Gasp!
So, these s/o's might be a little old, but they are what I caught while reading quickly:
Jenna - Cute Bunny costume! You could find one on sale after Halloween and sell it next year on ebay if you have a boy. ;)
Kelly & Jenryan - Thinking of you ladies.
Names If we have a girl she will be Anna Elisabeth. Anna is a name DH likes and Elisabeth is my Grandma on my mom's side. I never met her, she died when my mom was 7. But, it goes with Anna. If it's a boy we have no idea. We know the middle name will be Allen, which is my father's and brother's middle name. Now to find a first name to go with Allen. I like Nathan, but I don't want his initials to be NAH.
Maternity Clothes I think I'm going to be stuck wearing my clothes from when I was pregnant with Aaron since he was a February baby too. I hate shopping, so I don't mind much. But, I don't love the clothes either.
Caffine - You know, I've been wanting caffine lately too! I don't like Diet sodas though - nervous about artificial sweetners. I've been letting myself have one every once in a while. Yesterday I bought one, had a bit and gave the rest to DH so I wouldn't feel guilty. I've been doing good w/ keeping caffine out.
I have a QOTD, if it's ok? What are you calling your little one right now? With Aaron we called him Peanut. But, for this one I don't have any cute names yet. I feel a bit guilty, like I'm cheating him/her. I don't know. I'm just so busy with Aaron that we don't talk about the baby too much.
I've been feeling ok. I had a bothersome dream the other night though. I dreamt that I was in for an u/s and the tech asked if I wanted to know the sex. I told him that I only did if it was a boy, but there was no way for him to keep it from me if it was a girl. So, I told him I didn't. He told me that it was a boy anyway and I started bawling. I wanted a girl so bad. Part of that is true, I want one of each. But, I wouldn't be crying if I have a boy! It really bothers me, this dream. I won't be finding out the sex until birth though...

I have managed to schedule another ultrasound! I am so psyched. My friend works for a local pregnancy support service and they are in need of “models” (ie—pg ladies) to volunteer to have ultrasounds so they can train people on their new ultrasound machine. Hello, I am ALL over that! So, I scheduled a u/s with them for Sept 6. I don’t know if they will tell me anything but it’s worth it to get a peek at the munchkin. :)
LooLoo
No, I haven’t been to Babystyle! I’ll have to check it out and see what they have! Thanks! I commented about the rude and astounding woman who lifted your shirt in your journal. What a piece of work! It would’ve gotten ugly with me! ;)
Kelly
Happy Birthday!
That is definitely good news from the doctor! Take it easy (as easy as you can with a toddler)! And have fun tonight at dinner!
jennapeach
Don’t worry about being anal about work/financial stuff. I am the same way. Before we even got pg, I told hubby we had to have x amount in our savings account to cover my loss of income. I am a huge planner as well.
I have had a few diet drinks here and there – I am guessing maybe one every two weeks. I think if you had one here or there and not often, you would be alright. I am a firm believer in everything in moderation.
angelgirl
Glad to hear everything is perfect with the babies!
Hey roe! I know how annoying it is when my boss expects me to work instead of cruise the boards! ;) Wow, those prices at Pea in the Pod are insane! I probably would have had to drag my jaw on the floor as I exited the store. Geez!
lynn
I think you had a classic anxiety dream! Don’t worry, a lot of us have been getting them in one form or another. ;) Isn't it wild the things our minds come up with?
Inappropriate Comments
I haven’t really had any comments but my hubby’s aunt patted my belly the other day. I don’t even really have a belly yet and she already patted it. UGH! Of course, that was followed by an urge to drop kick her, but I refrained. ;) Hubby says I’ve been a bit more hostile lately so I am trying to keep it under wraps!
What We’re Calling the Baby Now
I tend to call him/her “the munchkin” or “the babe.” Hopefully once we find out the sex and decide on a name, we can start calling him/her their actual name. Now, that will be very cool.

I have a feeling the farther along I get, the more I'll let myself get fiesty with responses to inappropriate questions/rude comments. Hey - I have the best excuse ever... why not? ;)
Speaking of, my MIL called DH the other day and was asking him how I was. He said, "Yeah, she's growing!" I was a little irritated that she'd ask that and further, that he'd answer so bluntly. She corrected him and said, "No! I asked if she was glowing!" Hee!
Clothing, I won't be buying anything from Pea In A Pod. I don't spend that much on my non-PG clothing, generally. I bought a few things off Ebay (Gap stuff), some things from Old Navy and some from JC Penney. I might splurge on one really cute outfit for my shower and stuff, but I'm trying not to go buck wild. The cami I bought from O.N. the other night totally shows off my lil' bump. I feel totally self-conscious wearing it, but I gotta get past that.
Caffeine - I saw a nutritionist early on for my PIH and she said that it's safe to have up to 2 cups of caf coffee, per day. That's about 5 cups of tea or 5 sodas. I don't drink coffee and I never take in that much soda or tea, so I'm ok with that. I can't say I miss the caffeine, but I miss the Diet Cokes. :p
Dreams, did have a dream that we had a boy, BUT, I'm not putting any weight on that, since I'm pretty sure we have a girl coming. See QOTD.
QOTD, I usually refer to him/her as Baby or Bebe. DH refers to him/her as Baby Davy, since he's so sure she's gonna be a he. We like to tease each other about it.

Hi ladies -
I have finally hit the 2nd trimester - I am 12w5d today!! Everything is going good. I have been feeling pretty well, got a little energy back, I am not getting tired at 3pm in the afternoon like I was a couple of weeks ago - but at 9pm watch for falling trees, because I am sawing logs every night by 9pm. DH thinks that pretty funny.
Hope all is well with everyone!!
Caffeine - My doctor told me to limit my caffeine intake to 3 servings a day. Which is more than I drank pre-pregnancy. When I do drink coffee, I drink de-caf, but I won't stop drinking my cokes. I probably have 3-4 a week, but I want one I will drink one.
QOTD: We have been calling the babe a nickname based on whatever size he/she is at the moment. One of my email updates said it was as big as a billiard ball, so DH as nicknamed him/her CUE BALL for a couple of weeks.
Another QOTD- Do any of you know a website or have a check list of the things one "should do" or "should get" to get ready for baby? I know the 2nd trimester is the time they say you should get stuff (registry, classes, nursery etc) done because you have more energy etc. I was just curious if there is a good list that we could go by to make sure we aren't missing anything. TIA.

YAY! My friend Jess is 7 wks pregnant and she just had her first ultrasound and they're having twins :) that means TWO playmates for my lovebug! ;) I'm so excited for Jess & her hubby!! Clomid works great! ... or as Jess told me: "Clomid... it'll get you knocked up... multiple times."
Caffeine: My dr never said to limit caffeine but I chose to do that anyway. I used to drink 1-2 cups of coffee a day. Now, I have no caffeine in my diet - except for the occasional piece of chocolate, etc. I'll have a Coke every now and then but it's less than once a week.
QOTD: We 'sort of' call the baby Lovebug ... usually we just call the baby "Baby". Boring.... but we're looking forward to finding out what we're having so we can use his/her REALY name! Besides, my parents call the baby "bug". Cute :)
QOTD #2: I haven't seen anything on lists - other than what maybe some books say. I know that amazon lets its users make lists of what they think you should have in a nursery.... That's a good question though!

Hi Ladies,
Just getting caught up. I had a TOUGH week at work. We got acquired yesterday which of course scares the heck out of me and since I'm in public relations my phone has been ringing off the hook. But I think I've calmed down enough to visit the boards! :) I will say though that the stress of yesterday caused me to open my first diet coke in 14 weeks and it tasted SO GOOD! I think the baby didn't mind.
Pea in the pod- ok. I'll admit it. I'm a clothes freak. I've spent crazy amounts of money on clothes in the past and I love all the clothes at Pea in the pod. I don't love the prices though. Even I think that they are insane! Especially because who knows when I'll be working again... but it is nice to look.
Mindy- I'm so excited that you scored another ultrasound. Seeing the baby is just the best thing.
I call my baby- baby, or bean, or brat. ;) I've been so sick that sometimes I think the baby is out to get me and I like to tease it. But really, it's all in fun. Hope everyone has a nice weekend.
Hello ladies,
Just wanted to wish everyone a good weekend.
Clothes- I am one of those odd women who doesn't like clothes shopping. I have managed to make it into the Gap to look at some clothes, and it didn't kill me. I am going to try to not let myself get desperate to the point that I run into Pea in a Pod at the last minute- the prices I have seen you ladies post are insane!
QOTD: We don't really have any cute names for the baby. I used to call the baby "Our little leach" because it was sucking all the energy out of me in the first trimester. I can't wait to find out the sex so that we can call it by name! (Which my OB doesn't want to do another ultrasound until 28 weeks! That really doesn't sound right to me... I think I will ask for one sooner, at 18-20 weeks which is when they can measure the fetus and do a quick check for abnormalities, and plus find out the sex ;) ).
QOTD #2: We are relying on the Baby Bargains book for the list of things to get/register for. We have also looked at the Babie's R Us list on-line through Amazon, and the list at Babytyle.com.
Inappropriate comments/touching: No one has made any comments to us- yet. I am ready for it though, as my family (bless them) is not known for holding back their feelings... well, for that matter, neither am I. ;) Bring 'em on! My BIL is the only person who tried to "touch my belly". It was actually very cute because he has been treating me very gently since they found out I was pregnant. Last time I saw him he tried to pat me, but there is nothing to pat! I don't think he realized he was being silly. It will definitely bother me if other people try to touch me though!
Looloo- My DH is SO excited to be a daddy! He keeps telling my belly to "Hurry up in there!" :)
Happy Belated Birthday Kelly!
Ali- Twins for your babys playmates? Awesome! That is going to be adorable to see all the babies together!
Jenna- Heheehe. That was funny! I might have hurt my DH before the true story came out though! ;)
Mindy! I am too jealous that you get another ultrasound... let me see if I can cajole my OB into a sooner one! :)
Lynnh- Anna Elisabeth is a pretty name! We will also name our child with family names for the first name, although we don't have any names set in stone yet.
Roe- I hear you on the self-validation that you are providing for SIL. Some people just need to feel better about their decisions by convincing themselves that others "must" agree with them.

I have my dr appt today - just to check the hb and all that fun stuff. I'm excited. That means I'm one appt closer to the "big" u/s! :)
We visited one of the hospitals we're interested in using - it was so nice. The best part - other than the newness & cleanliness of everything and the friendly staff - one room the whole time! Yay! We're visiting the other top hospital tomorrow - then we'll be able to make that decision too!

LucyandRyan- Congrats on hearing the heartbeat! Good to hear that everything with the baby is good.
aligirl- I like that stroller..it is cute!! and wow, you are so much farther ahead of me when it comes to the hospitals. I know that I will probably go take a tour and all but there is really only one hospital in my area that I can go to, the other one doesnt take our insurance...its ok though because the one that does is the better rated hospital anyway :)
As for my updates, tomorrow I have an ultrasound to confirm size and dates again. I'm trying not to get my hopes up but I am hoping we will be able to find out the sex, the doc said it should be possible if the baby cooperates! I'll let you all know how it went tomorrow!

Hi everyone! Not too much going on here. Gas seems to be overtaking me with a vengeance these days! I am enjoying my Maalox and got some tums to take on the road in case it attacks when I'm not home. I cleaned out my jean drawer this weekend. I have one pair left that will fit and they were tight. I think I'm going to be moving onto those maternity pants in a couple weeks.

You are right. We do have the best excuse! I swear I am just waiting for BIL to say something to me and I am going to rip back at him, "Well, I'm pregnant, what's your excuse?" Is it sad that I am almost hoping that he will say something so I can give it back to him? ;)

That is great that you are feeling better. I am tired too but not nearly as bad as it was which is nice!
We are pretty much relying on Baby Bargains for a lot of things that we need got get before the baby is born. I also cruise the Parenting forum which gives great insight into what they thought were great items or they had to have in the beginning. I actually posted a thread about that. You can find it here (http://www.constantchatter.com/showthread.php?t=4492).

That is great news about your friends! Our friends had twins from clomid as well. I guess our friends are the 10 percent that have multiples from clomid.
That is awesome that you got to tour one of the hospitals. We have pretty much two options but one hospital is much smaller and not as nice as the other one. Plus, the big ones have the suites where you do everything in one room which I am pulling for. I think that will probably be the best route to go as well.
Thanks for the list!

Lucy and Ryan, I have PIH, as well. I've seen a nutritionist in an effort to control my BP without using meds, but I don't know how much good that will do me. I eat most of my meals away from home (lunch and dinner provided @work), so controlling sodium is very difficult for me. I have my next appt on Friday and we'll see how my BP is looking. I'm not overly optimistic, though, since I've been having headaches pretty regularily and just feel generally fatigued. We'll see, though. I know other women who had to take BP meds through their PGs. They were fine and had totally healthy babies.
Have a headache again today. Might take off from work a little early to rest.
ETA: DH thinks it'll be a boy. I think we'll have a girl.

I had a dream this weekend where I had another girl. I'm not convinced that I am but DH is sure he's destined to live in an estrogen filled house.

c-griffin- I'll cross my fingers so you can find out the sex!
Mindy-I tried my preggo pants for the first time this weekend, and OMG, I was so much comfortable!
Jenna-Thanks, I hope I can control it somehow, sorry to hear about your headaches, are they because of your HBP?
I predict girl, but Hubby thinks it will be a boy! Either way, we will be so very happy! :D

Hello all....happy to say it is 2 weeks today since I have had any bleeding, yeah!!!! Tomorrow I will be 16 weeks, can't wait until I start feeling a lot of movement, that is the best part about being pregnant.
gender: I am not sure, but right now I would have to say we are probably having a boy. We are undecided about finding out at the u/s. Since we have a boy and a girl already we thought we would just be surprised, but as my [u/s date of 9/12 is getting closer dh and I are thinking about finding out. I can't really decide. My mom would love it if we found out so she could start shopping. Any help in this area would be appreciated, should we find out???

Lucy, not sure if the headaches are a side effect of the PIH. I do know that severe headaches later in PG are an indicator of preeclampsia. I've always been prone to headaches, though. They suck. :(
I have none, zero, zip, absolutely no restraint. An LJ buddy of mine got the cutest Gymbo present from their cherries line. I will preface this by saying I'm an absolute nut for anything cherries-related. I even have cherries tattooed on my back. :o Anyhow, I picked out these little cuties, not even knowing yet what we're having:

http://s7ondemand1.scene7.com/is/image/Gymboree/140002883?$240x305$
And a pink floppy cherries hat, which apparently is already sold out! Guess I'll be keeping that package at work until we have the big u/s. If we have a girl, it's all good. If we're having a boy, though, well... someone is gonna get a very cute baby present. :D

jennapeach o.k. how cute is that cherries line??? OMG! There stuff is so cute. I'm also a sucker for Janie and Jack (http://www.janieandjack.com) which is Gymbore's higher end line (like Gymbore isn't high enough) ;) That outfit is just SO cute though!
jenryan yay on no bleeding! Hmm- did you find out on any of your other kids? If you didn't then I say, what the hey? Find out! :D
Mindy Hope the gas gets a little better! Don't worry= I haven't even begun shopping for maternity clothes- I was so sick all my clothes have now gotten too big! But I do like motherhood a lot.
Lucyandryan hope things work out for you!
Gender prediction O.k I have no feeling really- but I'll go ahead and say boy . Only because I've had my girl's name picked out for three years and that's usually how things work.

Gender prediction... depends on if I'm sleeping or awake. Awake, I'm always typing and saying she or sister. My dreams have all been about having a boy. I'm not predicting!
I had some time today before my labs (I had to test to make sure the UTI was gone) and went to check out double strollers. I really like the Zooper Tango, but wish I would have jumped on the 2004 model at $150 + free shipping online! Poo. The 2005 model doesn't hold an infant seat at all. I need to convince DH that we need a side x side and not a stadium seating one.

Do any of you know if having braxton hicks contractions at 13 weeks is even possible? I mean I think it probably is but most women probably don't notice them or think it's the growing of the baby or something. I'm pretty sure I'm having some. I had plenty while pregnant with DD but definitely nothing this early.
I'm wondering if I should be alarmed since I'm having other complications. Since I'm on bedrest and only feel them when I stand up it's very hard to gauge how many I'm actually having. I actually ended up on all fours (lovely picture, I know) breathing through one earlier, the pressure was killing me and I have a good high tolerance for pain. Think I should call the doctor tomorrow and see what they say or wait and see if it happens again?
jordan
08-22-2005, 05:51 PM
Kelly you are reading my mind. This is my first, but for the last hour or two on and off I've been having pain that I just don't know how to classify. I went in and took a hot bath and that relived it for a short time. I think I might call my Dr. tomorrow.
I've also been having m/s again. We got back from a week long vacation on Saturday (where I was perfectly fine the entire week) and I have barely been able to keep anything down. (another reason for calling the Dr.)
Can m/s be triggered by stress? That's what DH asked. Since I was ok all week long while we were away. Thoughts?
I have no idea on the gender predications. If you go by genetics I should be having a boy... if you go by all the m/s it should be a girl. I keep calling it him though so I'll go with boy.

Gosh you ladies are chatterboxes, this thread moves FAST :D
I'm too lazy and still feeling hideous with nausea to do individual shoutouts. I hope everyone is doing ok.
Gender prediction Absolutely no idea here :D All of my friends have had girls in the last year, so it'll either be a girl to continue the trend, or a boy to end the trend. Who knows ;)

Good Morning! :p I actually think the m/s is getting a little better, but I am 16 wks today, so 11 weeks of this sickness it enough. Now that the m/s is subsiding I am definately starting to lose some brain cells. I just got to work and locked my keys in the car, w/ my purse, lunch, and daily planner!!!! I should have been more aware considering the only other 2 times in my life I have locked my keys in my car was when I was pregnant w/ my ds, and then w/ my dd.
Kelly: I think you should definately call the dr about the pain. It sounds like a little too much to me this early. Let us know what he/she says.
Jordan: About the m/s, I know when I was on vacation I felt better also. When we got back it started again. I think it was due to the fact that on vacation I was more relaxed and could cater to how I was feeling a little more than everyday life. Hope you start feeling better soon.

Good Morning ladies! I just got back from my ultrasound and sadly they could not tell the sex of the baby yet :( .....but in 4 weeks I will for sure, or so they say :) This was the first ultrasound/appointment that DH has been to though so it was nice for him to see and hear the baby. The baby was doing a headstand the tech said so my pictures aren't that great...mostly of the baby's back. But all in all it was a good ultrasound, its always nice to see the baby!
I will try and come back later to talk more but I gotta get some work done first!!

x-post from LJ:
My dr appt went well. The baby is a little devil already - I swear! The NP found his heartbeat right away and then lost it because he moved!! So, we searched around for awhile - she pushed HARD to find the h/b - but all we could hear was mine. Since we knew he was there I wasn't worried - neither was she - but she decided that an U/S was in order - just to check :) So I got to see the baby again! I should've asked her to print the pictures but I forgot. Jay was mad because he wasn't there to see the baby again - figured that he wouldn't need to be there since we were going to check the h/b and that's all. So I clearly saw the skull, ribs, spine, blood flowing, arms, legs, etc. It was awesome!!! Plus, he was moving around a lot - little squirmer :)
The NP was concerned though because I lost about 1/2 lb. I can't believe it! I'm eating like a pig all day long - granted, I'm eating super healthy with lots of fruit & veggies but still. This baby is consuming everything!! So she told me that she wants me to gain 1 lb a week. Yuck. My mom didn't start gaining with me or my brother until she hit her fifth month. I've got a baby belly so we know everything's fine other than weight! I can't believe I'm being told to gain weight!
---
To answer my own question ;) I think we're having a boy but Jay thinks girl!
---
We're going to see the other hospital tonight - I'm excited!
And, my "big" u/s is scheduled for 9/19 !!!! I can't wait!

I talked to the OB concerning the BH. She said it is possible to get BH this early but not ones that are painful or require me to actually work on breathing through them. Since it has only happened once she wants me to get up at least once an hour, more like every 45 minutes and stand for a minute or two to make sure I'm not still having them more then I think since I feel them best if standing. If I have anymore that are hard to breathe through or are painful I need to call again and probably come in. If I notice them every time I stand up or every other time I stand up after 6 hours I need to call back and probably come in as well. She doesn't think it's a big deal but she'd rather be cautious too at this point.

hi all!
wow, you ladies are so ahead of me, buying clothes and registering for strollers!
dh and i can't even think past next week's u/s!
predictions...i don't really have too much of a feeling, although somehow i've convinced myself that baby B is a boy and baby A is a girl. i guess we'll know in about 5.5 months!
question...have any of you felt any movement yet?

question...have any of you felt any movement yet?
I have but this isn't my first pregnancy. I felt movement rather early with DD too, I think it was around 15 weeks but it all depends on where the placenta is and where the baby is and all that good stuff. We figured out that what I thought was the baby moving was the baby moving when I went to the ER and they were trying to get the HB on the doppler. We heard the baby moving and I felt it as well so that confirmed my belief.

Hi guys- omg things have moved fast here.
I am sorry I cannot give everyone a s/o!!!
Aligirl - your u/s sounded amazing. I cannot wait to have mine at 20 weeks. It made me think you were having a boy bc you kep referring to tbe baby as a "he."
sex prediction - I always thought i would have a little girl. I don't even know what you do with little boys. But for some reason, I think it's a boy. I never thought we'd find out the sex but i think dh and i will find out and then keep it to ourselves (don't worry- i'll tell you guys ;) ). We also have a girls; named picked out no boy name. It's gotta be a boy.

Hi Ladies- just checking in. I actually don't have a lot to add but looks like I might be passed my m/s. I'm finally able to eat again which is nice. I'm definitely hoping for the "mystical" part of this pregnancy. So far, I've just been really stressed. DH is very freaked out about money and is falling into all the typical man stresses - which is just stressing me out even more.
Roe6373 Sounds like we have the same feelings about boy vs. girl. I too am not sure what I'll do with a boy. Love it I guess! :D
Kellymb75 Hope you're doing o.k. I'm glad you've been in touch with your doctor.
angelgirl I have nothing- I only went to look at strollars but really probably won't buy anything till after my shower.
O.k. I lied today I bought two prints for the baby's room. I think it was mostly to spite my husband who seems to think that the baby has already made us poor. Actually we've picked our theme (Hey diddle diddle) and my sister emailed me that prints had gone on sale- so I picked out two. ;) We also put a bid on ebay for the bedding that we like (it's brand new) so, we'll see if we get it.

Sorry I've been MIA again! What a bad mommy group member I am. Still in survival mode trying to deal with the m/s. I was so hoping it would just magically disappear at 12 weeks but no such luck. :(
I did want to say I've been following along as best I can over the last couple weeks and I am so glad to hear that those of you with recent scares have had confirmations that everything is okay. :)
And I'll throw in my gender prediction too - I'm guessing boy although my best friend is convinced it's a girl. We are having a company meeting later this afternoon and one of the girls is gonna make everyone guess boy or girl and what day baby will arrive. That should be interesting! :D We're a small close-knit group so we do silly things like that around here... But I'm so jealous of those of you that already have your big u/s on the calendar. My OB won't be doing mine until 22 weeks!! Which puts me somewhere toward the end of October... Guess I'll just have to be patient. *sigh*
Hope everyone is having a good day! :)

Kelly and roe - I hope you guys feel better soon. Kelly I would certainly call the doctor. I had an appointment this am and asked what kinds of pains I should be feeling and he described basically what you are going through and told me to call if thuis happened. Anything constant and very painful is what he told me to call him with.
Ali - What a great appointment. We heard the heartbeat again today and the lil guy/gal was all over the place for us, too!! Sounded like a lot of kicking or arm movement to the doctor.
tina - I really hope this goes away for you soon. I can't imagine what you and others have gone through.
Sex prediction - No dreams, no real feeling either way. Half the family is hoping boy, other half is hoping girl. Although my mom did ask the magic * ball while on vacation last week and according to the ball - defintely a boy!! We'll see!!! Right now boy would be Jack Maurice G---- and a girl would be Reese Alene G---- (the maurice and reece would be after my mother's father who I never met but everyone tells me we would have been best of friends...)
Movement I think I was woken up a few nights ago with what I thought was the baby moving, but I have very vivid dreams and I'm not sure if it really happened or not (Yes, I was nuts before this pregnancy). So that's a no for me.
Next appt Sept 7 at 16-17 weeks for testing.
Next u/s The big one at 20 weeks!!! And we will not find out the sex!
HAVE A GREAT WEEK LADIES!!!
Edited to add Oh Jordan. Take care. I'm glad they are taking care of you and the baby. hang in there...

Hello -
Well, we got some things crossed off of our list this week. We got signed up for our Childbirth classes, we are taking two different ones (Preparing for Childbirth and Getting Ready For Baby) and we also signed up for our hospital orientation.
We are going to head out and possibly get started on our registry this weekend. DH has the Baby Bargains book in hand and is researching the BIG items.
We are heading to the doctor a week from today for our 2nd appt. I will be 14w3d - so that will be exciting.
As for gender predictions - I have been having BOY feelings lately. I tend to call the baby he and him when around DH. I guess I have a 50/50 chance of being right. We are planning on keeping it a surprise until he/she comes so we are going to have to wait and find out.
Take care everyone!!
Holy Cow am I behind! I had a dr's appt. today, I finnally stopped dropping weight (i lost 8lbs) and gained 2 back! :) The baby's Heart rate was 146 and the Dr. said things looked good.
Backpain: I've had some pain in my lower back but nothing I'm too concerned about. The dr. said it was normal.
M/S (jordan): So sorry to hear that the m/s is making you miserable. Mine has been pretty bad too and gets worse with stress. Unfortunately I work in live TV, a bit stressful, but the Zofran has helped a lot. Hope you feel better soon.
Predictions: I've felt girl the whole time but now I'm not as sure.
Movement: None for me but it's still really early.
Dr appts: 9/19 and 10/17. Big U/S 10/13!!!!

HI there
Just wanted to catch up a bit since yesterday was so busy at work that i hardly time to post.
This past weekend my friend gave me ALL her maternity clothes. I think i may be pretty much set.
Yesterday, I received in the mail this booklet for adult school classes in our neighborhood. They are offering a prenatel yoga class. It starts on October 4 and goes for 6 weeks. I am seriously thinking about signing up for the class. It's about 95 bucks; which is just over 15 per class. I think that's about average for yoga classes.

Sorry for making you all think that we're having a boy! I've just gotten into the habit of calling the baby "he" or "him" when we talk about the pregnancy. Sounds better to me than "it". If only there was a gender neutral pronoun (besides "he"!)! I wish I knew but we have to wait until 9/19 to find out!
We visited hospital #2 yesterday. I'm torn between the two now. I really loved #1 because it's so homey feeling but #2 is a level 3 nursery and if something should happen where our child would need that level of care, I'd much rather be at a place that can handle it. Now, we're not anticipating htat but you never know. So I went ahead and preregistered at both places. I'm going to talk with some recent moms I know who went to those hospitals and find out what they thought. I'm sure I'll get the same response - it was great! The one thing that keeps me leaning toward #1 is the atmosphere - so homey and friendly. The one thing that really keeps me leaning toward #2 is that it's where my dr is most comfortable and delivers 70% of her babies. She even had her twins there. I did a lengthy pro-con thing in my LJ but I don't want to clog up our thread here!!!
Kellymb75 - I hope you're doing better - glad that you've talked with your doctor!
angelgirl8 - I haven't felt anything yet. My NP said not for a few more weeks - which I already knew - but I hope we feel something sooner!
roe6373 - the U/S was pretty cool! I just wish Jay had been there - too bad we didn't know our little devil (yes, we're calling the baby that right now) wouldn't cooperate with the NP! That's awesome that you have all those maternity clothes! I wish I had friends who were my height - they're all about 5 inches shorter!
LooLoo02 - glad to hear the m/s is going away for you - that's got to be wonderful!
tinagirl26 - glad to see you're still around ;) Hope your m/s fades away soon!
jordan - take care of yourself & the baby! I'm thinking about you!
meatpie - glad you heard the h/b again! it's such a great thing to hear!
TheFuture - Yay for another planner! We talked about which classes to take last night and now have to decide on them. We really should just sign up and do it but Jay wants to debate a bit more
A-lo - glad that you're gaining the weight back!! :) I'm sure your dr was pleased with that!

Hey guys, sorry it's been awhile. I was having severe cramping so I have been on bedrest for the past 2 weeks. The good news is we had an(other) ultrasound yesterday and everything looks ok so I am back on my feet. The other good news is that HE really wanted us to know his sex at 16weeks, the tech got a great shot of between his legs and he's definitely a BOY!
Funny cause all my little feelings were saying girl. We are both releaved everything is ok. It was so comforting to see pics of him moving, it feels more real now.
Other than that, no new news on the baby front. I am frantically running around now trying to get my classroom ready for the 1st day of school. We are going to go look at registering this weekend.
No movement here yet although a few flutters now and then. But they are so quick I don't know exactly what they are.

edsbabyrhi Yay- a little boy! And a manly one as well who REALLY wants you to know it. ;) I love when they show personality in the ultrasound. Congratulations and I'm glad everything is o.k.
aligirl sounds like you have two good choices..... It sounds like in your heart you want hospital one but your head is telling you hospital two.... Good luck with the decision!
Thefuture YIKES! You're freaking me out! You're so far ahead on everything!!! Seriously, good for you! Good luck registering..... Let us know how it goes.
roe6373 That sounds like a good price for yoga classes. I'm thinking of doing the same. My gym has a partnership with one of the maternity places around here and offers us a discount. I think it sounds like a great thing to do- both physcially and mentally! We can swap Yoga stories.
A-lo I'm intrigued. What do you do in live tv??? I hope you feel better soon.
jordan feel better soon- isn't it awful that this is the one time you DON'T want to lose weight.
I'm trying to feel more postive about everything and not freak out at my husband who I think looks at me and only sees dollars blowing out the window. I'm hoping that I can start to relax more- but maybe that's just not me! ;)

edsbabyrhi - Congrats on a baby boy! :)
I know I should do more s/o's - I'm so bad. I'm just a tad bit upset right now and should be napping.
The darn UTI has returned. Since it's my third one (feels like one really long one though - how do they know the meds took care of it each time and it just came back?), I have to go see a Urologist. I see him on the 29th. I'm not looking forward to it at all.

17 weeks today!
I am here. Sorry I have not been around. I left my job with the killer commute about 3 weeks ago. I ended up getting a horrible cold for the first 1 1/2 weeks, still coughing a bit now. Now I am trying to get caught up on some house projects while I am felling better and a little more energized. We moved into a new house at the end of April and still haven't put up towel/toilet paper holders, pictures, etc.. Plus I have lots of other things I want to do around here to brighten it up a bit.
Predictions-I really feel like this baby is a girl. I have had numerous girl dreams. DH keeps switching his prediction from boy to girl and back again. My sister is so certain that I'm having a girl, she gave me a gift bag of little girl things.
I have my big ultrasound on August 31, only one week away. Hopefully the baby will cooperate and show us the "goods". I also need to find a new doctor/hospital closer to home since I'm still running back and forth to Boston. I'm planning to go on one hospital tour this weekend.
I haven't registered yet, but I did spend over an hour in Babies R Us the other day getting ideas. I've also started a wish list online to store my ideas.
I will try to get better keeping up here.
Hello to all the other Feb. Moms! :)

Right there with you, sista!!
Congratulations edsabyrhi on your Boy and so glad to hear all is well with you and the baby.
Aligirl Remember, your doctor may have chose hospital No. 2 because she was having twins and that's a high-risk pregnancy. Just something to consider. Although for me, once the doctor said he/she was more comfortable at one hospital I think the Hus would make me deliver there. Tough choice, but a good choice to have!!!
Slacker mom alert I have glanced at bedding (because that is fun), printed off Consumer Reports recommendations for strollers, cribs, et all. But we have not even thought about registering yet. I guess it's hard for us because we will likely move before the kid arrives and I'm not sure I want to start that process until I know where I am living. Anyway...congrats to everyone who is so ahead of the game!
I'm going to try to keep up better this time. Wante dto let you know that I ordered some maternity clothes off Land's End the other day from thier overstock section. I got 2 pairs of pants (tall sizes yea!) and a shirt for $46. Since I'm having a tough time finding pants long enough (i'm almost 5'10") for less then $60 this was very exciting. Thought I'd share the wealth.
Have to go back to work, will write s/os in a bit! :D

What could be causing me to be dizzy ? My blood pressure is always fine so I don't think that's it. I've been eating decently and yet I'm still having dizzy spells. It doesn't just happen when I stand up or anything so it's not because I'm getting a headrush from being on bedrest either. Could there be another explanation? I really don't feel like calling the doctor's office again if I can figure this out myself. I can't imagine that there would be much they could do for me anyway since my BP seems fine and my eating is decent. Any thoughts or suggestions?

kelly...i can't help you on the dizziness. i've been having dizzy spells, as well, that don't seem to be related to anything.
edsbaby...congrats on the boy!!

angelgirl8: You're so cute! :) look at that twin baby belly!
kelly: wish i could help - I don't know much about what causes dizziness... are you having breathing problems / shortness of breath too? I thought that dizzy spells were just another one of those 'things' we have to deal with as pg ladies...

Oh, I know what you mean about house projects. I have a list of my own to work on and now is the best time since we can still get around pretty well but the first trimester yuckiness has passed!
Good luck at your u/s on Aug 31! That is the same day as my BIL’s wife has her u/s so I will remember that.

Right there with you, sista!!
Hee hee, glad I’m not the only one! I am so asking my midwife about this when I see her next!
And trust me, you are not a slacker, You still have plenty of time to get stuff going. Now, if you are 39 weeks and you don’t have your crib yet, then we’ll call you a slacker! :D

Thanks for the Lands End tip although I am short! I wonder if they have short/petite pants too. I’ll have to check it out. Usually if they have talls, they have shorts as well.

I’m not sure about the dizziness when you are pg. When I would get dizzy pre-pg, I would always think I had an ear infection or something of that nature. Is it pretty bad or can you still function? Don’t be afraid to call the dr’s office. I am usually afraid to call and then when I do, I end up making some comment about how I am bugging them and they always make me feel better and say that is what they are there for!

angelgirl8 - What a cute twin belly you have! I think my belly is bigger then yours and I'm only having and I'll only be 14 weeks on Saturday. The joys of showing so much quicker with subsequent pregnancies.
aligirl - I don't get the chance to have shortness of breath these days. I'm still on bedrest so I don't stand or do much of anything but once I finally get off bedrest I can almost guarantee I'll be complaining of that as well.
Mindy3094 - I don't mind "bugging" the doctor's office so much as I'm sick and tired of talking to them so much. Seriously I've talked to them on the phone so many times in the past 2.5 weeks that the triage nurse and I know eachother's voices without announcing who we are. If it continues I'll call, I'm just trying to stay out of the office until sept. 6 if at all possible.

angelgirl8: What a cute twin belly!!!!
Today's Dr. Visit
They think I might have just had an infection since I was able to eat today with out the Zofran. She said if it were pregnancy related I would still be getting sick and after being on the airplane and around my niece I could have picked up anything.
We scheduled our 16wk u/s for September 14th so hopefully the baby will let us know what it is. :)
