So many shout outs!!! Nothing new with me, though I look a bit thicker today and I keep feeling the kid moving around a bunch. It's so fun! I'm just wondering when I will officially pop and look pregnant?!?!?!
Looloo - So happy you got a good result from the tests. It sounds incredible painful and hard to stay calm. More good test resuklts your way I am sure!!!
Ali - Congrats ont he boy and I love Alexander Joseph. Great name!
Kelly - YEAH! Off bed rest. I am so thrilled for you! I'd also be mad if a standard test like that was not offered to me. Makes me wonder if I am remembering all the tests I've read about and if they have given them to me or not. Then again, I give blood practically every time I see the doc so I'm pretty sure they are getting what they need.
Mindy - Yeah, seems like they are not growing by leaps and bounds anymore. Though I had some friends over who hadn't seen me in a months or so and they were shocked by the girls :eek: I have no idea about the pain you are having, either.
Roe - We don't own so I have no idea if that's a ton of money for a bathroom or not. But everything is $$$ is LA. My only thought is it is better to fix it now rather than in three or six months when our lives are a bit different!
Cgriffin - Yeah! A girl! Any names yet?
LRL - I would have died during that 2-hour wait. We are really lucky to have a small lab (one nurse) in the doctor's office so we don't have to wait that much.
Michinganbride - Ice packs? Oh my! That must be AWFUL. I remember the couple nights before we knew we were pregnant that I could not sleep on my stomach because they hurt so bad. I'm sorry you stil have to deal with that!

again- cannot keep up with the s/o. How do you guys keep track of who writes what? Maybe i should take notes.....
cgriffen - congrats on the girl!!!!!
posting pics.... you need to first upload your pic to a website such as shutterfly. Once you have the pic on shutterfly you right click on the image adn go to properties. You copy the path that is in the properties line. Then you go to cc and click on the button that says "insert image" when the box come up you paste the path. Then click ok. The pic won't appear until you hit submit reply or preview reply. I hope this all makes sence......
home improvement- we are going to get a few more estimates. Someone said this and i also agree- we shoudl probably do it before the baby even though it's a lot of $$$$- but at the same time, we were warned that bathrooms were not cheap. Neither of us are handy enough attept doing it ourselves.

cgriffin and michiganbride, you'll need to upload your pics to a website to post them. You can do this at Shutterfly, Fotki or Photobucket. Once you upload the file from your hard drive to the internet hosting site, THEN you'll be able to use the guide to post the image (using the URL that the pic is located at).
For instance, I host at Fotki.com. I uploaded my US pic at Fotki this morning. It shows up on a page like this: http://public.fotki.com/jennapeach/baby_el/bebe_el2.html
Then, I'll take the URL beow the pic that says, "Image URL for use on non-Fotki sites:
http://images14.fotki.com/v223/photos/4/42358/2481674/bebe_el2-vi.jpg" and use that URL to create an image here, like this:
http://images14.fotki.com/v223/photos/4/42358/2481674/bebe_el2-vi.jpg

Kelly - so glad you're off of bed rest!
cgriffin - Congrats on a girl! Can't wait to see the u/s pictures!
LooLoo - I forgot to post that I am VERY glad your test results came back ok!
Ali - LOVE the name Alexander Joseph.
I'm horrible with s/o's too. Most of the time it's because DS won't let me be on the computer very long.
Just to clear up my test.... I passed, so they are ok and I never have to see that doctor again! Yay! The u/s wasn't like we're used to, so the nurse didn't get a peek either. This machine is strictly for the bladder, but it uses u/s technology. She places it over the bladder and it reads the volume and just prints out numbers and a bitty graphic, but not an actual picture like I was hoping. Her response was based on the fact that her daughter is more difficult than her son ("She's the one that gave me these grey hairs!"). The baby must have just moved in the way for the first scan giving the read out that I had a very full bladder. Sorry to confuse everyone.
Can I just say that I hate maternity clothes? I don't think I look cute in those shirts w/ the tie or whatever just below the boobs. I so wish that I did. So, it's hard to find anything that I like. Also, I just want a pair of JEANS!!! I like the pants with the band around the waist (kwim?), but they all have these ugly (to me) decorations on them or are an ugly blue. Grrrrr... ON had plain Jeans, but they didn't fit right. They fit in the thighs, but were too big in the waist. I didn't go down a size because then they wouldn't fit at all, I'm sure. I have three pair of pants from my last pregnancy and 5 long sleeve shirts. Guess I'll be stuck with those. Thanks for letting me vent.

Driveby from me. Am off interstate for four days and so wont be back here until Monday.
Had the big ultrasound today, all was fine. Incredible the detail they can show, even the details of the brain parts.
I was very happy that the baby was alive, as I had convinced myself it had died because I still haven't felt any kicking. But there is a reason why I can't feel it yet, the placenta is at the front and that's where the baby is kicking so the placenta absorbs the kicks. It looks like the placenta is a little closer to the cervix than they'd like, but not blocking it. The doc said it should resolve itself, otherwise it's a c-section for me.
We're not finding out the sex and couldn't see anyway :D
Hope you all have a good weekend

MichiganBride-I am glad you were able to post, love the picture of your boy!
Ann-You are too funny, I am glad that you feel better about your baby. I hope the placenta resolves itself!!
As for me not much to say. I thought the 2nd trimester was suppose to give me energy! Where is it?? Yesterday I went to bed at 7pm!
As for any boob pain. My mom told me that a nurse told her to rub Vicks vaporub on her breast and place a hot towel on top. Well I took her advise and only rubbed the vicks on me (no towel) and OMG I no wonder I went to bed at 7! I sleept like a baby and this morning I have no pain. It's worth a shot for anyone with boob pain.

LucyandRyan - My energy hasn't come back either. You should see my house right now - total dissaster.
Never heard of the Vicks thing. I've been nursing so long the first thought was "Oh, but the baby will taste it!" Um, yeah... baby's still in the belly, Lynn! I need to wake up.
LucyandRyan
09-21-2005, 05:55 AM
Lynn-since my mom couldn't breastfeed my little brother back in 1993...she was allowed to use the vicks. They probably don't recomended this to nursing woman, can you imagine?? poor baby!

all i did was miss a day, but i missed so much!
ali...congrats on your boy!
cgriffin...congrats on your girl!
ann...boy do i know that fear about movement. i'm glad you found out you have an anterior placenta...i've heard that can delay the feeling of movement until well into the 22nd to 24th week! my placenta is a bit low, too, but they say the only direction it can move is up, so wishing good moving vibes to your placenta.
looks like the girls are starting to catch up a tiny bit!
thanks everyone for all the weight gain compliments...i definitely don't feel like i've gained 19 pounds, but you guys should see the thighs i'm hiding beneath those skirts. i'll scare all of new york come winter when the pants go on! for real, though, i'm thrilled with the gain because i'm supposed to gain a ton with twins especially since i started out underweight. if the babies are happy, i'm happy.
i haven't felt the babies move for a few days and it's making me nervous, but i also haven't been in pain so i'm assuming they've changed positions.
boob pain...well, i guess this is the one pregnancy symptom i've avoided. what a miracle! sounds like it's not that much fun for you guys, though! i had a biopsy on my breast a couple of years ago and to help with the pain afterwards, i put a bag of frozen peas in my bra. better than an ice pack and it really helped!
trying to figure out when is the best time to start planning what purchases need to be made for these babies. we'll just get the absolute essentials and keep them at my parents' house. i wonder if we should do it earlier than i want to since twins can come earlier?
ETA: forgot to add appointments! next ones are:
september 27: cervical length/kidney check
october 3: obgyn appointment
october 11: follow-up kidney check, growth scan and cervical check

I'm horrible at shout-outs! As soon as I think I've got everyone straight I get confused again. So please excuse me for not doing many shout-outs as I'd likely get them all screwed up anyway and we'd all be so much more confused.
Great u/s pics Jenna and Michigan, mine are not good from Monday since the baby wouldn't cooperate. We didn't even get a profile shot, it was that bad. I can't wait for my next u/s so hopefully I'll have fun pictures to share that acutally look like a baby rather then a blob on the screen.
My BBs hurt from time to time. It's mostly my right one, it was the one I had horrible mastitis in and had to have it drained and was hospitlaized because of. I am always checking them because I'm scared to death of getting mastitis during pregnancy (which I just recently learned is much more common then people realize). Mostly my pain is a quick sharp shooting sensation rather then an ache. It hasn't been happening much lately but when it does it gets my full attention.
DH somehow convinced me we needed a new mattress last night so we bought one. We got it at Sam's club so we brought it home last night. I don't think I've slept that well in a really really long time. I guess DH was right about the bed needing to be replaced, I'm so glad I finally listened to him. He also bought a 400 TC set of sheets which I'm sure didn't hurt my sleep any. It felt heavenly.
I've started to feel this baby move again. I felt the baby really early on and then the movements just sort of haulted and now we're back on track with little thuds here and little thuds there, I LOVE it! That's what I missed most after I gave birth to DD, I always loved to feel the baby inside me.
I've already managed to get 3 loads of laundry done, 2 folded and have rearranged my linen closet this morning. I am so happy to be off bedrest, my house is a disaster and slowly but surely I will whip it back in shape.
Happy Wednesday everyone!

WOW!!! I haven't been on this thread since the first trimester and boy have I missed so much!!! So much has been going on with me. August was a very busy month for us sine we had SIL's wedding. Plus that was the last month my DH was working. His company decided to shut down his site. So as of the beginning of the month he has been unemployed. So we're strapped on cash right now. Plus, I now have a depressed hubby at home. This is the second time he's been laid off. Nuts! Still trying to find a job right now. Although yesterday and today, my company has hired him to help us out a bitsince we're pretty backed up right now. Plus they are paying him cash so he doesn't lose his unemployment. But he shoukd be getting everything done by tis afternoon. It's been weird havinghim here but since we're not working side by side it works. We both admitted that we could never work side by side or neither of us would ever get work done. LOL!
Okay now for my PG update. So far so good I guess. Although I had major pains last night. I think and pray it was just gas pain. I was never in so much pain before. But I seem to be better today. I've had bad gas pain before I was PG but not since. So I hope it was just that. I have my big U/S next Tuesday, Sept. 27th.. That's my 2 year anniversary so I couldn't ask for a better present! We can't wait, or at least I can't wait, to find out what we're having. DH wants it to be a surprise but I just can't wait. I was so upset that I didn't get the U/S at my last visit. I was so worried they were going have me wait until I was 22 weeks but he moved it one week, which happened to fall on our anniversary.
What else, oh because of DH's lay off we're having major discussions about insurance. The problem we're having is my company's insurance does not cover my Dr or my hospital which sucks!!!!! Right now we're on his company sponsored Cobra until the end of October and then we have to figure out if we want to continue on Cobra and pay it ourselves or switch to mine or find our own personal insurance. The insurance at my company really sucks!!! And I probably wouldn't have a problem switching Drs but it's the hospital I have a problem with. The hospital it covers doesn't even have a NICU unit so if god forbid something were to happen the hospital it would transfer it too wouldn't even be covered. And we initially calculated that if we paid the out of network costs it would cost pretty much the same or actually more than if we were to pay Cobra. So we're seriously looking at just keeping Cobra. Don't know. Too many questions. And also we're hoping DH will have a new job by then so we may not even have to worry. But right now he's only getting calls for contract jobs as opposed to permanent jobs. We'll see....
What else, is anyone else having pain in the tail bone region????? Mine has been aweful the past week. I heard of lower back pain but not the tail bone. I don't know if I should call my Dr or wait til next week at our appt. What do you girls think???
Also, having trouble sleeping. I tried the pillow between my legs. I've been trying to sleep on my left side. But every now and then I sleep on my back, which I know I won't be able to do much longer. I saw those wedges and PG pillows but has anyone tried those?? Are they worth the money? Or if you have any sleep tips would be appreciated.
Well, I better get back to work. We're swamped again here. Ugh! Having a harder time each day concentrating here. I wish i could just switch with DH and be at home while he did my job. Wouldn't that be nice.
Congrats to all those who have found out about the sex of their babies!!! I think it will take me so long to catch up here. I'll try but I just might have to start up from here and hope I can find time to post. Hope all is well with all of you!

marios_girl: glad to know your pregnancy is still going well but sorry to hear that your DH lost his job! Best of luck on finding a new job for him! Insurance sucks to have to deal with in general but your situation is tough – good luck figuring out what to do. As far as sleeping goes, I tend to hug a pillow. I haven’t broken down and purchased a preggo lady pillow yet but that’s because the hugging a regular one has worked out pretty well. For some reason I’m more comfortable on my right side, so I’ve been doing that. I’ve also been swinging my hip out so that I’m half sideways, half on my stomach. It’s also comfortable for now like that but I’d imagine that will change soon. As far as tailbone pain, I only had some bad pain in that region when I slept with a pillow in between my legs. It caused way too much tension during the night – I could barely stand up!! Also, if your gas pains continue, you should definitely tell your doctor! Glad you’re back!
marios_girl
09-21-2005, 09:28 AM
Thanks Aligirl! I will have to try hugging a pillow instead of putting it between my legs. Although I haven't been sleeping every night with a pillow between my legs so I don't know if that's the problem. And sometimes I do sleep on my right side but I end up tossing and turning every night between my left and right side. Ugh! Doesn't matter when I am running to the bathroom a couple times a night anyway. It seems impossible to fall back to sleep. But thanks for the info.
And as far as the gas info I think it has passed since I haven't had any pain since last night. Plus I was feeling the baby move last night and this morning so I hope everything is okay. I definitely will call my Dr though if I feel the pain again.
And yes having to deal with insurance can be a pain but ever since I was PG boy have I looked at it differently. I never knew how much I had to think about. I still have no idea what to do right now. We got one more month to figure it out. Thanks though!
P.S. Congrats on your BOY!!!

I don't have anything to report. Just wanted to do some shout outs so I don't get too far behind!
LRL
Then DH told me "Please, like you are ever going to be the one to change the sheets in the middle of the night-" LOL. I guess that's true. That's what DH is there to help for, no?
Absolutely! If I am the 24 hour diner, then he can change the sheets. Amen. :D
Thanks so much for the heads up on lumps in the bbs. I have been checking them and honestly haven’t found anything “lumpy”, but they do feel different since becoming pg, so that is an extra challenge. I may just see if the midwife can check ‘em at my next appt and see if she feels anything weird.
cgriffin
Congratulations on your baby GIRL!
michiganbride
Definitely nesting! We just have so many projects I want to get done before baby arrives because I know we won’t have near as much time as we do now. Ah, it’s like a race to the finish line!
That is such a great u/s picture! You can see his little features so well.
Kelly
I absolutely understand what you mean about them not offering the test. If you had wanted it, then you would have totally missed out! I know the practice I go to is just so huge (which has its good and bad points) and I am skipping around to the different midwives so I am afraid they are going to miss things as well. I just keep a list of questions I think of during the month and then drill them when I get there. But hey, at least you didn’t want the test anyway. I hope they aren’t doing that with other patients too though.
aligirl
What an awesome report! I love Alexander Joseph. Sounds good! And hey, I would be excited to get another u/s in 4 weeks and not worried at all about the stomach. I’m hope they will get a better view of it at the next u/s. And btw, I didn’t even know they checked for that!
meatpie
That is so awesome you are feeling so much movement!
roe
I hope you can get some better estimates for the bathroom. Our downstairs bath needs redone badly and we just decided last night to work on it over the winter – in December and January. And by “we,” I mean “hubby.” ;)
jennapeach
Beautiful u/s pic! Look at that cute little profile!
lynn
I’m so glad to hear you passed your bladder u/s! And believe me, I never thought I’d ever say something like that to someone! :D
I have been less than thrilled with maternity clothes as well. The selection stinks and half of the shirts feel like tents. I used to love shopping before but now I prefer to order online and hope it fits!
Ann
I’m happy to hear a good u/s report! My friend has a similar thing as you. Her placenta is right over her cervix, so she gets to have more u/s to see if it has moved b/c it if doesn’t, she’ll have to have a c-section too. I hope you get to feel some kicks soon!
LucyandRyan
Vicks, huh? Hey, it’s worth a shot! I’m glad to hear it worked for you.
angelgirl
i wonder if we should do it earlier than i want to since twins can come earlier?
That’s not a bad idea. My friend delivered twins at 36 weeks and they were thrilled that she got that far. I was kind of surprised but I guess with twins, it’s different. ?? (the twins are the cutest almost 2 yr olds now, btw!)
mariosgirl
Welcome back! I’m sorry to hear of your hubby’s lay off but it sounds like he is working towards getting another job and you guys are covering your bases with insurance. You are on the ball.
My bottom hurts sometimes but I think it’s because I sit all day long and not that there is extra weight on it, it hurts a bit more. I try to get up and move around a lot which is good for me anyway.
I have had some pretty mean gas pains as well earlier in the pg. Fortunately, they haven’t been bad lately, but I understand how bad that can hurt. Sometimes it feels like your abdomen might explode. Ouch!

Totally agree. Unless you have a gf to shop with (my MIL and I went shopping and had a blast because we had a sales girl helping us the entire time pulling clothes for me) shopping is no fun. I ordered a few things from Babystyle (HINT: They have some yoga pants on sale for 9.99 that are so incredibly comfortable, I will LIVE in them) but I have to return a shirt. Also did the same at Old Navy and am just waiting for my package to arrive!!!
Nothing to report here either. I think my face looks a bit fatter, but who knows. :rolleyes:

This is my 20w belly shot.
lucyandryan - I am going to try the vicks. Anything will have to be better than nothing at this point.
aligirl - You can definately tell that you have a boy there.
maternity clothes- I just recently went on my shopping spree to gap.com and found that I love their clothes, but they are still to big. So when I buy maternity clothes to fit it seems like I have been able to wear them once or twice and now I am growing out of them. I really don't like the way loose clothes look on me. I feel like I need new clothes every couple weeks.

Congrats to everyone who foudn out the sex of their baby. I am sorry i cannot give out personal s/o.
Love all the u/s pics. I cannot wait for mine. Isn't it amazing how much differant the u/s at 20 weeks is in comparison to our 8 week u/s. The 8 week is hardly recocnizable.

Good Morning Ladies!!
As I was reading all of your many bb posts I thought I was lucky not getting any of those symtoms (cracking etc.) but last night I was laying down on the couch and I look down to see a huge wet spot right over my bb's. I couldnt believe it! And since then now they hurt and are so sore. I am not looking forward to the pains of breastfeeding. I am looking forward to the bonding and nutritional aspects but my sister-in-law says it hurts in the beginning more than you can imagine. fun times to look forward to! :)
michiganbride great belly shot! You look amazing! I haven't done any shots yet and am upset at myself for not....you are giving me the motivation to get that camera out!
On the subject of feeling the baby, I am finally feeling her move! :D I love the little kicks that I feel. Josh is anxious to be able to feel but they are still too little for him to really feel her yet.

michiganbride and aligirl You guys look fantastic! :D I have been taking belly shots since the beginning but I think I'll wait 'til 20 weeks to post mine. I just look *really* bloated right now anyway!
cgriffin I have heard the horror stories about breastfeeding and how much it hurts too. My friend said lanolin saved her so I plan on stocking up! Hopefully it'll help us too!
meatpie Good luck with your clothing order! I hope everything fits and you like it. The only thing that I have run into is that the colors on the Motherhood Maternity website are not exactly representative of the real colors of the clothes, so I have to watch out for that! I think my face has gained weight also but no one agrees so maybe I am just imagining it?

michigan bride and aligirl Love the belly shots! Can I ask if this is your first pregnancy? You're both showing so much more than I am!
Meatpie Thanks for the lead on the $10 yoga pants. I'm gonna check them out right now!
aligirl
09-22-2005, 09:37 AM
Mindy3094 - Thanks :) You should post yours soon - it's fun to share.
Bbbethie - it's my first pregnancy :) I'm surprised I'm showing as much as I am because I'm fairly tall so there's lots of room for the little guy to play in. Apparently, he wants everyone to know he's there!
Wow! I am so far behind!
Ali- I like Alexander Joseph for a boy, very cute and not trendy names. Look at that belly picture! 5 pounds, and yes, you are totally ALL baby!
Meatpie- Don't you love feeling the baby? I agree that it is totally better to go with a girlfriend to buy clothes. I bought some basic long sleeve shirts at Target last week and my mom was with me. I am off to check out those $10 yoga pants. Thanks!
Jennapeach, Michiganbride, Ali- Great photos, and cute babies! It must be great to see the ultrasound that looks like a baby! So different than our first ultrasounds!
Lynnh- Oh dear, I am with you! I will never look good in those tie back maternity shirts. They just scream 80's pregnant woman to me.
Ann- I understand! I was totally convinced that our baby was not ok because I was not growing at one point. No belly, no nothing. I hope the placenta issue resolves itself. It's good to know why you are not feeling kicks though so that you can not worry too much!
Lucy- Vicks on the bb's? Hmmm. I might have to try that if I ever have terrrible pain.
Kelly- I'm glad you are sleeping better with the new mattress. It's amazing how a little change in what you sleep on makes a huge difference (kind of like how I can never sleep well in hotels).
Marios girl- Welcome back! I am sorry to hear about the insurance problems you are having. We went through a change in insurance in the beginning part of the year, so I understand what a PITA it is. I am glad that the baby is ok, and that everything has been uneventful on that end. I hope your DH finds some good lob leads soon!
Mindy- LOL! I need to casually mention the 24 diner thing to DH! The quest for maternity sympathy continues ;) (J/K).
Michiganbride- What a great belly photo! Look at you in a tank top and shorts! I am in a sweater today, and it looks like it is going to rain. We have had no summer! It totally agree about Gap clothes. They are cut so much better than some of the other brands, so I know that they are a sure bet.
Cgriffin- Wow! A wet spot from your bbs? I haven't had those yet, but I won't be surprised. I too am anxious about the pain of breastfeeding. When my niece was born, my sister was so upset that breastfeeding was so hard. On four separate occasions, she made my poor brother in law go to the store and get pumps. YES, four different brands of pumps because nothing was working (she already had a rented hospital one too). I guess it is good that we have each other to reference to, because otherwise I might have thought it was easy too, and been sorely dissappointed.
Nothing new here to report. I think that I have finally popped. I call tell that there is a little belly there. Yesterday was my first day in some GAP transitional pants, and boy were they comfy! I am in a weird in between stage with shirts, so nothing looks good. I am hoping that my belly evens out with my boobs a little more because I am running out of things to wear to work FAST! DH was poking me and moving my belly around last might to see if he could get the baby to move. It really did wake the kid up! He felt the kicking and was SO surprised at how much stronger the baby felt from the first time he felt it. I *think* I can distinguish between the punches and the kicking now! :)

Thanks to all the belly shot compliments. I can't wait for more of you to post your bellies. This is my second pg and I also showed early with my daughter.
aligirl You look adorable! Are those maternity pants? If they are where did you get them?
LRL My work sent me to SF last fall for a seminar and I ended up staying a few days with my sister which lives in San Jose. I know what you mean about sweaters. I wore a sweater the whole time I was in SF, but when I got to San Jose we wore T-Shirts and Tank Tops. Huge difference for not being so far away from each other. I definately loved it out there as compared to here.

LRL - thanks :) I think we have convinced ourselves that we'll name him Alex but I still want to look through some names and make sure it's "the one!" Yay for being in transition pants! It's hard with tops, I agree -- I've been buying one size larger in some situations just because they still look better (as long as they're long enough).
michiganbride - thanks :) The pants are from Old Navy and they are maternity pants!!! I found some longs and had to buy them. They're called "maternity super khakis" and are only available online. Here's the link: Old Navy Maternity Pants (http://www.oldnavy.com/browse/product.do?cid=7381&pid=272364). I'm surprised they are as comfortable as they are - I have both colors.

aligirl- What great belly shots. You look great! Thanks for the link to those pants...Too bad I just put an order into Old Navy like 2 hours ago! Oh well, it'll be on the next purchase!
Oh, I just wanted to let everyone know that I bought a Snoogle pillow today. Baby Depot in Burlington Coat Factory has them for $39.99 instead of $49.99. I will let you know what I think of it but I wanted to post the discounted price just incase there are any cheapo's out there like me...$39.99 just sounded so much nicer than $49.99!! :)

Hi all! I love the belly shots and the clothing tips, keep them coming.
We have been diagnosed with a single artery umbilical cord. Scary and requires more monitoring but so far everything looks well. The plus side is that we get a ultrasound every month until he is born.
I have had a snoogle for a few weeks and I love it. There are some positions that you have to be careful of, I woke up a few times with a hand or foot that was severly asleep.
At what point are you guys thinking of ordering furniture?

just a quick driveby
edbabyri- what exactly does the single artery unbiblical cord mean adn how did they discover it? I hope it resolves itself. I hope you enjoy the monthly u/s.
furniture- We are getting furnitture given to us- but i think it's normal to order it abotu 12 weeks ahead. Just a warning- this happened to my sister and then my parents. They ordered baby furniture and left a deposit adn then the furniture store just closed shop- so they each lost their deposits. I am not sure if they ever got the money back bc the companies file bankruptcy, etc. Maybe you can make deposits on an American Express card where you can fight any charges in case the stores decide to skip town.

Hello everyone!!! Congrats to everyone that has found the sex of the baby!!! Also the belly shots are very cute!!!
I had my 20 wk appt today, and everything looks good. I asked the dr. for a note so I could get a prenatal massage. Elizabeth Arden's Red Door spas give them but the require a dr.'s note, so now that I have it I will be going for that soon. My lower back and tailbone has been killing me so I am hoping the massage provides some relief if only temp.
I think DH and I have agreed on a name for a little baby boy. We have picked Cole William. We actually both like Cole, one of the few we agree on, and William is my dad's name. Our first DS is named after my DH, and his father so we really wanted to use my dad's name this time.
Well I think that is all I have to report.....hope everyone one has a great weekend, and that all of you who are in Texas, or have family there you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Major stretching going on over here. I am thinking I am going to *pop* in the next day or so judging from the stretching I am feeling!
aligirl
I have those same pants in short! Ha ha, I haven't worn them yet because they are still too big around my belly, although I know that won't last long!
edsbabyrhi
Single artery umbilical cord? Hmm...I have never heard of that. The things you learn while pg, huh? I hope you definitely enjoy the monthly u/s. I know I surely wouldn't complain either.
jenryan
Love the name!
Furniture
We just needed a crib which I went to order a couple of weeks ago and found that they had one in stock. So it is set up and in the nursery. Now, I just need a chair. I have read that you should have furniture ordered by the end of your sixth month, depending on the brand, of course. Some take longer to come in than others.

I can't wait for our u/s on Wednesday!! Plus, we are seeing my Benny's family in Boston next weekend and we'll have a new "photo" of the kid to show. Well, at least Benny will. I had some gfs over last weekend and we were looking at a photo of me on the fridge from my brother's wedding (me drinking out of a bottle of champagne - class I tell you) and someone said "Jo - is that your baby?" I had TOTALLY forgotten about the first u/s photo. Already a bad, bad mommy.
Great news is we got our triple marker results back and all is well.
cgriffin - Thanks for the info on the pillow. I'm still sleeping on my stomach, which I think is OK, because I still can. The belly has not caught up to the bbs so I'm not teetering yet :eek:
edsbaby - I also had never heard of that and am wondering how it was diagnosed. Let us know. Good luck with everything (and I certainly would not mind sneaking a peek every month!)
Roe - I can't believe those stores just closed! Wow!! Makes me want to only order with a chain store, even though we like to support the independent stores as much as possible...
Jenryan - Cole William is a great name!!! how exciting. benny and I still have no clue on names, we change our minds constantly (except for Jack and Reese for a girl)
Mindy - What does the stretching feel like? There's definitely some action down there, but mostly it's the kid moving around from what I can tell. Thanks for the furniture info.
Furniture - I guess we'll plan to order in the next two months...We haven't even begun to look. Problem is we have no idea where we are going to live. We were looking at apartments (renting) in a Spanish style so I would ahve done something that looked good in that type of room. But the Hus is freaking out because we can't find a place with everything we need so we'll be getting pre-approved for a house/condo this weekend. :eek: :eek:
Have a great weekend. Hope everyone is safe in TX and LA. We have friends making the drive from Houston to Dallas. Scary stuff...

I'm not edsbaby but they check the umbilical cord during the "big ultrasound". Normally there are two arteries and something else they look for (I'm drawing a blank now). Basically they look for 3 things with the umbilical cord.

Hi ladies - I've been offline for a few days so I've missed a lot! I want to thank you for all the warm wishes. I'm still a little freaked from the whole idea and have totally just started to really focus on the baby and being pregnant. I agree about the whole maternity clothes thing. I am a huge clothes snob in real life and have just not liked my choices. Plus clothes don't seem to fit me well! I do have to say that we probably have better choices than our mothers did though! ;) We'll probably order our furniture soon - as soon as we find something we like and can afford.
Jenryan - I LOVE the name Cole William! f course I picture Jullian McMahan from nip tuck because his charactor on Charmed was named Cole- so I picture your baby as a 35 year old hunky man. Which I think is probably weird of me. ;)
edsbaby Keep us posted please- I really hope everything will be just fine. I know how scary these things can be. We'll be thinking good thoughts for you.
aligirl- michiganbride Great belly shots! You look great!
Ok. I am so far behind that I think I'll just have to go from here for Monday. Have a good weekend everyone.

Back from my latest OB appt. I *know* they took a pap at my first appt, but they couldn't find the results, so they had to do another. :mad: Luckily, she's super-speedy, so it wasn't too bad. Blood pressure is creeping back up, so I have to go back every three weeks from here on out. She's very happy with my weight gain - I'm at about .5 under my starting weight, since I lost some in the first tri. I'm gaining about a pound a month now, though, and she's pleased with that (so am I!)
They drew blood for my AFP and doggone it, they were about to send it for analysis with my old DD. The perinatologist's office reported my ultrasound date as 2/13, when my adjusted date should be 2/22. WTF?! Those results would have definitely come back positive. So, I got that all straightened out and hopefully, everything will come back ok.
I got my big 20-week packet with pediatrician info and hospital info. The hospitals send out these fancy brochures with ribbons and special paper - crazy! Then again, these are the hospitals that cater to LA celebs, so I guess it's not surprising here in La-La-Land. Too funny. We can even opt for a deluxe maternity suite (2 room, 1 bath) with catered meals, jacuzzi tubs, personal doula and other perks. At an extra $1000 per 24 hours, though, I doubt that'll be happening. :rolleyes:
Haven't thought much about furniture yet. I want to order our glider, but we haven't looked into the baby furniture too much, yet. Guess we need to get crackin' on that!

jennapeach We can even opt for a deluxe maternity suite (2 room, 1 bath) with catered meals, jacuzzi tubs, personal doula and other perks. At an extra $1000 per 24 hours, though, I doubt that'll be happening.
What luxury! That would be incredible if not for the price tag.
Kellymb75 is right. During your ultrasound, one of the things they check is the umbilical cord. A normal umbilical cord has 2 arteries and 1 vein. In like 1 in a few thousand, there is only one artery and one vein. In 85% of these births, with extra monitoring, the baby is born fine. In the other 15% there are a variety of organ problems, growth problems, even fetal death. Hence the extra monitoring. I will now see my OB to check my health and then a fetal specialist to check the baby and do an ultrasound to check measurements/organ development once a month. In 2 weeks they are going to do a fetal echocardiogram to check the heart function of the baby. Trying to stay positive for now as so far everything (except the cord) looks perfectly normal. They offered to do an amino to check for chromosome abnormalities which can cause this to happen but we declined because of our age (We are both 24). Thanks for the well wishes-I will keep you posted.
Names are a sensitive point in this household. It's a good thing we still have a few months as Ed is much more picky than I would ever be.
Watching the weather channel tonight (home alone-Ed left for the church youth group retreat, I am going to go tomorrow), all of those in TX and LA are in my thoughts and prayers!

Hi everyone! Once again I am hopelessly behind in here! Work has been just awful lately with all kinds of "special" projects heaped on my plate just as we are getting ready to move the whole office. How am I supposed to pack when there's so much other work to do? It's almost more than I can handle at this point and I come home pretty exhausted each night - no time for message boards when my bed is beckoning so persuasively! :D
After a long talk with my OB at my last appt I decided to go ahead and do the AFP test. They drew blood yesterday so now we are just waiting... Nothing much else to report. Still not brave enough to post belly shots. :p And still no movement from the baby... so glad I have that doppler to put my mind at ease!
I just have time now for a few updates (before I go in to work for a couple hours to pack :rolleyes: ):
My next appointment is Oct 18th, not the 19th. I don't know what I was thinking when I posted that last time - I'll blame it on pregnancy brain I guess. Good thing I double-checked on that huh?
My birthday was last week so I am now 34. (yikes!) And somehow I forgot to update my DH's age over the summer - DH is now 41.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. And any of you in Hurricane Rita country - I hope you and your loved ones are keeping safe and dry!

Edsbaby - Thanks for the explanation. I am sure everything will be fine. It's wonderful doctors take no chances nowadays and can find these things and monitor everything. Please stay positive (I know it's hard) - it's the best thing for you and the baby!!
Well...my weekend did not go as planned. I was supposed to get together with the college gfs, but shortly before 5 p.m. Friday I started to have pretty bad lower back pain. It was fairly constant and uncomfortable. I called my sister, who never had any pain like it when she was pg, so I called the doctor. He said I was likely having kidney problems and the hus and I spent our Friday night at the ER. Lovely hospital policy was if you are 20 weeks and beyond you go to maternity ward...I'm 19 and a half weeks so I stayed in the ER. :rolleyes: I do have a kidney infection, which is weird because I had NO symptoms of a bladder infection. I'm on somewhat bedrest for the weekend, drinking so much water and fluids I'm in the bathroom every hour. Apparently the infection is not that bad and we caught it early - so the baby should be fine. They just worry about dehydration and then pre-term labor with kidney infections apparently. My doctor was incredible. I called in after hours and a few minutes later he was on the phone with my chart in front of him (I'd told them I had a kidney infection in college and he mentioned that.) So happy with him and the hospital, which is a wonderful feeling.
It was tough to keep it all together at first because I was just scared I had done something wrong, but the Hus and I handled it pretty well. The hus, my Benny, has been amazing. He brings me everything, keeps the water glass full and is basically waiting on me hand and foot (first time for everything ;) ) Although he just walked in and went crazy for the bbs again -- so he's back to his normal annoying self :rolleyes: kidding.
And by the way...apparently I lied about the bbs stopping their record-setting growth. I think they are back at it AGAIN. :eek: Not a bad thing to complain about but man I'm out of all my sleeping tank tops.
Anyway...on medication for two weeks and have to go see the doctor Monday instead of Wednesday. Hopefully we'll keep our 20-week ultrasound on Wed - we could really use another glimpse at the kiddo, although I felt him/her a lot today so that was nice.
Funny story. Dr. in the ER was asking me the typical questions -- medications, history of kidney stones, blah blah. Then he asked if I smoked or drank. I said no and his reply in total deadpan was "Good, or else I would have punched you in the face!" It was pretty funny. Broke the ice a bit.
Anyway...I hope everyone is well and had a good weekend. Will check in with everyone Monday, or after the big u/s.

One of my LJ friends recommended them to me and I've ordered one to test it out. I'll report back when I get it. She said they are even comfy enough to sleep in! The seller has awesome customer service so far. I hope I like them because you can not match that price!

Oh! I forgot this too!
Meatpie - sorry about your trip to the ER! I didn't know I had a UTI either - no symptoms at all. I'm so glad that you paid attention to the pains and called your doctor.
Michiganbride- Yes, can you believe how different the weather is in different areas here? My mom can be dying from the heat 20 minutes from here, and I can be wearing a sweater. In fact, I have worn winter clothing and summer clothing on the same day before!
Cgriffin- Thanks for the lead on the snoogle pillow. I was thinking about trying one of these if the five pillows I am already sleeping with don't work! Don't call yourself a cheapo- you just don't enjoy being ripped off! ;)
Edsbabyrhi- I'm sorry to hear about the umbilical cord problems. At least now they can monitor it- and tbe extra ultrasounds are a definite positive to having to go through this!
Jenryan- OH! I need to try a massage! I hope yours was excellent this weekend!
Mindy- Did you pop from the stretching? It's so much fun to look down and see a baby bump!
Meatpie- We can't wait to get our new baby pictures either! All of our family is anxiously awaiting news on the sex tomorrow!
Sorry about having to spend time in the ER. That is never any fun. I am glad to hear that they caught the Kidney infection so soon though, and that your doctor was so responsive! Yeah on the extra TLC from your DH!
Loo- Thank god we don't have to wear our mothers tent maternity shirts- although I hear you on the fit of clothes!
Jennapeach- WOW! Such luxurious maternity accommodations. We will be lucky if they have space for a private room here! There are so few places/options for us to have the baby that it is a little disappointing… it might be neat to have the possibility of other luxurious accomodations! I guess the plus to having our baby in the main hospital here is that I get to pick the anesthesiologist for the epidural (MIL is adamant about having someone she knows do the epidural. (She works in surgery and has seen how everyone works…)
Tinagirl26- Yuck on the extra projects you have to do for work. We are actually getting ready to move our office as well, and I am not looking forward to it- the move that is. The new office is supposed to be GORGEOUS though. I am told there are views of both bridges, the Transamerica, and Chinatown-
Furniture- We actually already have the changing table and glider/ottoman… we just ordered the crib this weekend. We figured that the crib would take about 12 weeks to get in. They told us at the store that it would take about 8 weeks! I am so excited! :D We even got a good discount- 15% off the crib which was slightly discounted already, and 20% off a mattress (I think the owner thought that my Mom was cute! LOL. My sister and I call it the "cute girl discount".) ;)
I also bought a couple of new bras this weekend. I bought my first non-underwire bra in about 10 years, and it is heavenly! I can't believe I've been subjecting myself to underwire with these monsters! :eek:
Tomorrow is our big U/S and we can't wait! I actually had a dream last night that I was disappointed with the ultrasound because it was so short, and that the technician didn't give us any photos. I was devastated and asked DH why he didn't say anything- actually I think I got mad at him for keeping quiet. Geez- I am having dreams now like I did before our wedding. What drama we put ourselves through! :rolleyes:

Just checking in and wanting to give meatpie a big ((hug)). I'm sorry to hear about your trip to the ER, but it sounds like you did the right thing and it's under control. Also, big ((hug)) to edsbabyrhi about the umbilical cord. My BIL's and his wife are due in January and are going through some extensive tests because of abnormalities that were found at their 20 week u/s so I am too familiar with how scary anything out of the ordinary can be.
I have to run but I'll check back later! Our big u/s is 2 weeks from today and I cannot wait!
ETA--LRL I really think I have popped a little more over the last few days. Even my fat clothes are too tight! The stretching has calmed a bit now. Not so sore and not so much muscle pain. I'll have to take a belly pic on Wednesday (when we turn 19w) to compare!

Mindy & LRL - Thanks forthe welcome back! It's good to be back on here and see that I'm notthe only one feeling and going through this alone.
I really hope DH finds a job soon so we don't have to worry about the insurance but at least now we have an idea of what we want to do. Yes dealing with insurance can be a total PITA. DH keeps getting calls for contract work though but looking for a permanant position. If he doesn't find something soo I think he plans to take one of the contract work at least. He's getting really bored of not working. Keep your fingers crossed that he finds a great job.
Mindy - Glad to hear I wasn't the only one with major gas pains. Yes it can be so painful at times.
Michiganbride & Aligirl - Cute belly shots! You girls look great!
edsbabyrhi - Have you and your baby in my thoughts. Hope all goes well. At least you get to see your baby every monthand that the Drs will be watching more closely to make sure everything goes well.
jenryan - Congrats on having a boy. Really like the name you picked.
Oh, let me know if the massage works out for you since I've been having the same pain you've been having.
jennapeach - So sorry to hear they made you get another pap. That sucks. And luckily you caught that they had the wrong date on your bloodwork.
And I can't believe the stuff they offer at your hospital. Yeah I wouldn't mind all that stuff either but at that cost I don't think so.
meatpie - Sorry to hear about your infection. Hope you get better soon. That's great that your Dr was so responsive. That must have felt good. That's awesome thought that your DH has been there for you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As for me, I can't wait for my big U/S tomorrow!!! I'm so anxious to see the baby again and hope that everything is going well. I will talk to my Dr about my tailbone pain since it won't go away. it's not so bad that I can't sit but it's very uncomfortable and sometimes makes it difficult for me to sleep right now.
Tommorrow is also my 2 year anniversary! What a great present to find out what we're having. DH is priming the walls to the nursery today so all we have to do is buy paint once we find out what we're having. We're so excited. :)
furniture - Well we got a ton of stuff from my cousin. Half the stuff is great but some of the stuff are pretty old. I think I'm going to register for the stuff I'm not too happy with and if we get some new stuff great, otherwise at least we have stuff. But as for furniture, we got a changing table and a crib from my cousin. However, we can't find the screws for the crib and it must have gotten lost during the move. If we don't find them I don't know what we're going to do. We thought we're so fortunate to not have to buy a crib and only a dresser. But if we don't find the screws I don't know what to do. Do we buy a crib then to match the changing table, which if it were my choice I wouldn't have picked or what? We'll see.... Keeping my fingers crossed that someone finds the screws.
maternity clothes - I hate being in this in between stage. Maternity clothes just seem too big on me. But none of my regular clothes fit me right now. And I was hoping to get by for a bit longer since I knew I would be big in the fall and winter but I can't help it now. Bought a bunch of stuff at Oldnavy.com since all their maternity clothes are on sale. The sale ends online on Oct 1st I believe for those of you who might be interested. But I too am not happy with the selection of maternity clothes out there. Or if I do find something fashionable I don't want to spend the moolah on it. But a friend of mine is offering me her maternity clothes which helps me out a lot. I just hope some ofthe stuff fits me since I know she was smaller than me.
Anyway, i hope everyone had a good weeknd and I'll try to get on here more often.
Meatpie Sorry to hear about your hospital visit. That sucks that they because of a couple days you had to stay in the ER.
marios_girl Good luck with the u/s tomorrow.
furniture We ordered ours a couple of weeks ago and it should be in November 26. I was 6 or 7 weeks early and although they say that has nothing to do with genetics I don't want to be caught unprepared.
maternity clothes Hating this inbetween stage!!!! Maternity pants constantly need to be pulled up and my regular jeans are just not that comfortable for too long. That's one of the reason I am so thankful to work at home!!! Granted when I run out to the store or to the post office I must look like a total bum!
bras I couldn't find the post, but I think a long long time ago someone posted a good site for bras. I need to order some regular ones, but we also went BM dress shopping for SIL's wedding this weekend and we have a halter dress, so if someone knows where I can find a strapless bra in DDDD I would appreciate it.
meatpie sorry about the infection. I'm glad that they caught it and I hope you feel better.
LRL YAY on the furniture!!!
Good luck on all who have their ultrasounds this week! I hope its good.
I'm doing o.k. I am finally feeling the baby move which is SO cool and yesterday morning DH even got to feel him/her move which was neat. We get our 99% results of the amnio this week, so I'm still a little on edge- I'm just hoping that everything is o.k. with the little one.
meatpie...so sorry about your trip to the ER, but i'm so glad everything is okay. glad you're getting waited on!
marios_girl...good luck with the u/s!
things are okay here. two weeks from the end of my constant nausea so i'm enjoying that! now, it's just trouble sleeping, trouble moving and everything. i'm measuring significantly ahead because of the twins, so i'm just worn out!
i had felt the babies move a few weeks ago, but i haven't really felt anything for a few days so that worries me. and DH still hasn't gotten to feel them. i wonder when he will be able to!
anyway, i have an u/s tomorrow to check cervical length and i think to check on baby B's kidney, so that's good.
I was sitting at my desk at work and she came around and patted my belly which was not really accessible at the time. Ugh, but I didn't say anything because her first language is not English and I didn't want to offend her. Anyone have any ideas on how to stop people from doing this?
roe Look at your cute little baby! Nice picture! It looks great on my monitor. I can even see its cute little nose and mouth. Adorable.
LooLoo Woohoo for good results! Whew! That is great news!
Loo- YEAH!!! That's fantastic that the results came back good!
Angel- I hope Baby B's kidney is doing better!
Roe- You can still see the cute baby in that picture- bad scanner or not!
Edsbabyrhi and Mindy- Um yeah if someone did that to me they would be lucky to be alive… I am sure I have that to look forward to. I have already told my boss that I don't want people trying to look at my midsection which is why I am keeping quiet among my NOSEY co-workers.
I just got back from my ultrasound... and it's a BOY!
This is the first boy in our immediate family, and when I called my Mom she was laughing her head off... She told me that we are going to have to buy pee-pee tee-pees (little tents to cover the baby during the diaper change) and take some lessons from DH's mom! :D
Have a great day everyone!
Thanks everyone for your thoughts. The back pain returned last night - even waking me at times. I'm in SUCH a bad mood today. I dunno how I am going to get through this looooong day at work. It is sooo uncomfortable.
Good news - my Benny felt the baby move!!! The kid gave a big kick or elbow and Benny shot up our of bed in complete shock the other night. It was wonderful. It was really similar to the first time I felt the kid so I was glad he could share that experience with me. There was no denying the kid was establishing his presence with authority!!!
I'm excited for our big u/s tomorrow! Roe - thank you for posting your photo, it gives me a good idea of what to expect. And the baby looks WONDERFUL!!!
Mindy and edsbaby - Can you wear a shirt that says "Do not touch me"??? I have NO idea how to stop people from doing that. I'm not showing too much yet, so it has not been an issue for me.
LooLoo - I am so excited for your news!! Congrats!!! You must be so relieved, to say the least.
angel - How did your u/s go? So glad to hear the m/s is gone!
mariosgirl - How did your u/s go?
LRL - Congrats! Another boy - WOW!!!
Roe your baby looks so cute on my computer.. So tiny! So wonderful.
LRL Congrats on the boy!! There must be somthing in our February mom's water with all these wonderful little boys!
meatpie Yay for feeling the baby. I feel like that is just soooo cool.
Mindy I just don't understand why people feel like it is o.k to suddenly start touching you. I'm sticking with the rub their belly back- but I guess that is a little rude. ;)
So, my U/S yesterday went so well! Here are some pics:
So it looks like we're having a BOY!!!! DH is very happy of course! He almost missed it since he was parking the car and the people at the front desk didn't send him back. But I was happy we both got to see the baby. It was amazing! And finally when DH got there he decided to move around so we could see what he was! ;) They said everything looks good and he's measuring as he should. I'm still on track with the same due date.
Still having the tail bone pain. Ugh! My Dr said to just continue doing back excercises and take some Tylenol to help with the pain.
My next appt is Oct. 25. I'll be taking the glucose test then. I hope I pass. I am a bit worried though since FIL is a diabetic.
Thanks again to all those who wished me well on our U/S! :)
Good Morning Everyone!
marios_girl- Congrats on the boy! Glad to hear the u/s went well! Thanks for posting your u/s pics, they're great!
LRL- Also, congrats on the baby boy!
roe6373- The ultrasound pics are beautiful! If I could only get mine up here...I'll figure it out sooner or later!
LooLoo02- Glad to hear all went well with the amnio and you and baby are healthy.
Update on me: I went to the doctor this morning. He told me that I have gained a total of 15 lbs. since my first appointment and that the size of my belly is right on track. Its crazy how he can feel my belly for a total of 5 seconds and tell me exactly where the baby is! There were two med. students in the room which didn't thrill me but they were nice and very polite with asking to touch my belly etc. My next appointment is scheduled for Wednesday, October 26th
I can't believe that I am halfway done this pregnancy already. It seems like yesterday I found out I was pregnant! Before we know it our little babes will be here!!
Congrats to everyone who has found out the sex of your babies!! Wow, are we full of boys or what?
We had our appt today and we are measuring right on schedule - 18w3d. I also had my BD for the triple screen test. We will be getting those results back at our next appt.
We have our ultrasound scheduled for next Tues, Oct 4 and I am still undecided about finding out the gender. I think we are going to keep it a surprise, however DH thinks I will cave!! :rolleyes: I think he secretly wants to know, but will go with what I decide. I guess we will see!
Our next appt is scheduled for - Oct 24
Oh, MIL bought our crib for us and it is being delivered today!! I should be here by the time I get home from work. It will more than likely stay in it's box in the garage until we start the nursery in a couple of months. I am sure she is going to want us to put it together as soon as we get it tonight - NOT HAPPENING!!!!
Hope you all have a great day!! Take care!
I think I am feeling some movement. It’s very light and infrequent but in the right spot and not accompanied by gas so I would say I am 85% sure it’s the munchkin kicking me. Very cool and I can’t wait until hubby can feel it too. For those who feel movement, how would you describe it?
LRL
Congrats on the baby BOY! LOL over pee pee tee pees! :D
meatpie
Oh, I am sorry to hear you are having more pain. Ugh, that must be frustrating! But that is so cool that Benny got to feel the baby move. As for the “Don’t Touch Me” shirt, I actually saw one at Sears that said, “Look But Don’t Touch” or something like that and I almost bought it. ;) I thought it might be a little too extreme! I think I will probably just get in the habit of putting my hands in front of me or something to block potential belly rubbers. I don’t think I am that big either. My boss says you can tell but hubby says I am still getting there. The only people who have rubbed my belly are ones who know I am pg and not some weird stranger so that helps a little bit.
LooLoo
Hubby suggested that if someone touches my belly, that I then just reach out and touch their face. Interesting suggestion and I’m sure it’d stop the belly patting. That’s for sure! I don’t know if I have enough guts to do that though. <sigh>
mariosgirl
Those are some good pics! Nice one of the leg and the uh, privates! And congrats on your BOY!
cgriffin
Glad to hear you got a good report at the dr’s! I wouldn’t be too sure about the med students either but at least they were polite and they didn’t get to see any of your super private parts. :D
roe6373- Thanks for the offer. My e-mail address is caitlingrif@yahoo.com. If you email me I will reply with the u/s picture. Thanks!!
Mindy3094- I have been feeling the baby move for about a week or two now and for me I never really felt the "fluttering" feeling. I might have missed that but to me it feels like little swift kicks, just not real strong yet. Hope thats not too confusing!
TheFuture- Thats exciting that you are getting the crib tonight. I am dying to start moving on the nursery. I have a feeling that the major furniture will probably be on DH and I though so we have to really save up for things before we get started!
Thank you all for the congrats on the little boy! There is SO much testosterone here! Very funny- ;)
Mariosgirl- Nice ultrasound pics, and another boy! :D
Cgriffin- Yes, isn't it neat that the doctor can tell so many things that we have no idea about? It was nice that the med students were respectful- it is nice to know that your doctor is very experienced since they are sending him newbies, right?
Today is 20 weeks for me- halfway!. It is difficult to imagine that a lot of us will have tiny babies in our arms in about 4 and a half months!!! :eek:
The Future- Not to sway you or anything, but we originally didn't want to know, but we knew that once we saw the baby in the screen, it would be hard to resist! How sweet of your MIL to buy the crib for you- one word of caution though. Make sure that you at least open the box to make sure that there are not cracks or other damage to the wood. You wouldn’t want to have to deal with that at the last moment, you know?
Good luck on the U/S!
Mindy- Yeah on the movement! Isn't is amazing? I would describe it as a large heartbeat in my lower abdomen. At least the first movements. Now that my DH has felt him move, he always wants to have his hand on my belly. He thinks I am keeping the "show" from him if I tell him there are no movements- LOL. :rolleyes:
So now that we know that the baby is a boy, eveyone wants to find out the name, which we do already have -but- We are not sharing, and people are taking offense. I am thinking I might tell everyone that we haven't decided yet, but that feels deceptive to me.
Happy hump day ladies! :)
Mindy3094
09-28-2005, 10:45 AM
cgriffin
No, that's not confusing at all. That's actually exactly how I would describe so that makes me think more that is actually *is* the baby and not some weird gastrointestinal fluke! I haven't felt anything flutter-like either.
LRL
Yeah, that is a really good description too. It is almost like a big heartbeat, you notice it but it's not too strong yet.
I'm not sure what to tell the people who are taking offense that you won't tell them the name. Geez! You'd think you could have something just for yourselves until the baby is born. I would probably just stick with a "It's a surprise!" response with a big smile on my face and if they take offense, then there's not much you can do about it. I would think most people could be respectful of that, but apparently not. Hmm.......
Baby Names- I know what you are talking about. It is so frustrating when people get upset about that. My situation is a little different. My DH name is Robert Andrew, his dad is Robert Dan, and his grandfathers is Robert Lincoln, and so it goes on. My mom wants me to name the baby after my dad (David) and keep his family tradition going. So the name would be Robert David, not that it sounds bad, but the baby will go by David. I don't really like that name and we have already decided that we would name the baby Alexander if we had a boy. My mom is not happy. :( So I kinda know what you mean.
Congrats to the new Boys
Not much new on this end. We did finish painting my DD's room this weekend. I will try to post a picture tonight. She is so happy to have a pink room. The next project to finish is the basement so we can move the office and start the nursery.
I hope that I am not restarting an old conversation, but what bedding or themes does everyone think that they are using?
I have looked at alot on www.lambsivy.com but I can't really decide my favorite.
Michiganbride- That is a sucky situation with the baby name. My MIL was giving us some grief about our boy name- Raymond James. She hate Raymond. I think someone said something to her bc she had finally accepted the name. Little does she know- we might use Ryan James instead. hehe.
hi all!
wow, such fun stuff going on all around!
things are okay here. been having tons of braxton-hicks contractions, but my cervix is still long and closed (i get checked every 2 weeks because of the twins). i was having weird cramping last night, too, and called my obgyn who said that at 24 weeks they'll hook me up to a fetal monitor and check on everything. she said there's really not much they can do now.
otherwise, besides for sleeping troubles and general discomfort, everything is good!
so far, i've had close friends touch the belly, which i don't mind. anyone else usually asks first. hard to say no, though!
our big thing now is when we're going to purchase essentials. we're not going to get anything we don't need the first week until after the babies are born, but we will need to get essentials and store them at my parents' house. i would normally wait until about 32ish weeks, but with the twins i could be immobile by then, so we may need to get on it sooner!
looloo...congrats on the amnio results! so happy for you!
lrl...congrats on your boy!
marios_girl...congrats on your boy!
Well, this morning was supposed to be my 20 week appt, but obviously I'm 19 weeks. Let's see, I deposited my urine sample in the tiny dixie cup. Seriously, they are going to have to upgrade those things when I get bigger. How am I supposed to hit that little hole when I won't be able to see down there? Hmmm...... then I got weighed. Ick! I've gained 15 lbs. My blood pressure was perfect and I am measuring exactly 19 weeks.
A midwife (Cathy) I hadn't seen before came in. I so like her! She is very cool and laid back and wasn't in a hurry at all. She answered all of my questions, the first one about the weird sensation in the right bb. She said there are a lot of changes going on in the breasts and that as long as it wasn't painful and I wasn't feeling any lumps, then it was probably alright. I also asked her about how much and what kind of cervical fluid was normal and she said as long as it isn't smelly (ew) or itchy, it's all good. I had a small amount of weird CM last week and wanted to make sure it wasn't abnormal. So I am good there.
Then she got out the doppler. One feel across my abdomen and she knew right where the baby was and said, "It's settled in right here," which is on my right side a little bit and where they have found the heartbeat in the past. She got it right away but then it was gone and she said, "Oh, you're going to make me chase you around." Ha ha, so she chased him/her around my abdomen a little bit and got the heartbeat again. It was high in the 160's but she said that was normal because he/she was moving around a lot. She looked at my stomach and says, "Hmmm, are you a little girl?" LOL, so I think she thinks it's a girl but we'll see.
Then I asked her about my weight and it if was alright. She said they like to see pg ladies gain around 10 lbs at 20 weeks so I am a little ahead but she said it wasn't a big deal because women gain weight differently in pregnancy so I *might* taper off at the end and end up in a good range. I don't know. She recommended getting 30 minutes of exercise everyday and focusing on vegetables as snacks and not eat a ton more because you really aren't eating for two. Hopefully that will help get me motivated to treadmill more than once a week.
And that was it. My next appointment is on October 28.
michiganbride
I think your mom’s reaction to the name is probably the precise reason a lot of baby names are a surprise! I’m sure our “Oh, I don’t like that name, “ time is coming too.
I don’t think we have talked about bedding before, have we? Anyway, my hubby is anti-theme so I am just having my mom make a crib skirt, bumper and curtains out of the material on the bottom left of this picture:
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b5d733b3127cce9457ce91c5a300000016109AYuWbVu4aO
And maybe cover a pillow too for the chair if I have enough fabric left over from what I buy. Then we’ll just register for probably ecru or green crib sheets and that will be it! I’m not going to buy a set. I am adding animals here and there as well. I have some mom and baby animal prints that I plan on hanging up and some other little animal decorations so hopefully that will spice it up a bit.
cgriffin
Look at the baby girl! If I’m looking at it right, it looks like she’s all curled up in there! Beautiful!
angelgirl
I’m glad to hear everything is going well and you are being on monitored so closely. It’s amazing how much room 2 babies take up, huh? It definitely makes me wonder how women have triplets or more. So what do the Braxton Hicks feel like?
mindy...i totally peed all over my hand at my last obgyn visit! told dh i have no idea how i'll do it in a few months!!
the BH contractions feel like my stomach tightens up really hard and the releases. usually i get kind of breathless right before each one.
i love the fabric you're using! maybe your mom wants to make me some! just kidding!
Mindy- I've decided that it must be my approach to telling people that we are not sharing the name of the baby. DH tells me that I can be brutally blunt at times. Thanks for the suggestion on telling people "It's a surprise!", because I have been telling people "We're not sharing the name until it's born". LOL- I am dense sometimes!
Babys HB is in the 160's? Sounds like a little girl too- based on all old wives tails I have heard. What beautiful fabric you've picked for the bedding! You must have a talented mom! I swear I can't sew a straight line on a sewing machine.
Roe- That's really funny that you might use a different name- I really like the name Ryan!
Michiganbride- Funny how those family naming traditions can cause so many problems. Sorry you are having to deal with baby name drama too. People act as if they are having the child, and it is the most important thing sometimes!
Cgriffin- She's all curled up! How cute!
Angel- Thanks for the description of the Bracton-Hicks contractions! I haven't had anything like that, bu t it's good to know so that if I do I don't freak out! Glad to hear that everything looks ok. How amazing that you are going to get hooked up to a fetal montior at 24 weeks. Hmmmm- that's about 8 weeks from 32- when you think you might be immobile. My goodness how time passes! :eek:
Last night we went to Pottery Barn to exchange the color on some changing pad covers I had bought. I also wanted to buy a chamois sheet while we were there. Well, the blue that they had had a tinge of lavender in it- I don't remember that from before- It might have been that the whole lot was like that. Now I am going to drive to another PB Kids and see if I can find the right color batch (OH! Neurotic mommy! No- my son will not have any lavender in his room!). The salesperson there looked at me like I was crazy. I almost told her "Give me a break! I have pregnant woman hormones!". ;)
Angel- The BH must feel so strange. Just ot of curiosity, has the doctor said anything to you about how far along you will go? I know twins usually come early- just not sure how early.
LRL- I don't blame you. I would not want lavendar in a boy's room either- unless it was very subtle
Mindy- sounds like you had a great appt. today. yea!!! BTW- I love the fabric you picked out. I think we are all jealous that your mom is so talented.
I am meeting some girlfriends for dinner tonight. We are going for thai. I cannot wait. I have had it on my mind all day.
Baby shower the baby shower has been booked. My mom and MIL went for dinner last night and booked the retstaurant for the baby shower. It will be at an Italian Restaurant on December 4. My MIL even offered to pay half with my mom for the shower- very sweet lady. annoying. but sweet. I need to register :eek:
Ugh - I just posted some s/o's for this thread on the SAHM thread. Can we all say MOMMY BRAIN?! :o
I know I've missed some important s/o's and I don't think the history goes back far enough! I know there were great amnio results (LooLoo?) and two boys anounced. Congratulations!
Names - For Aaron we didn't tell anyone his name. Ok, I'll admit that I spilt the beans to my sisters and my mothers, but that's it! ;) For this one we are using the girl name we had picked out for aaron, if it's a girl of course. But, I don't know if we're going to talk about the boy name to anyone, once we figure it out.
Mindy - Love the fabric you picked out! Glad you had a great appointment.
Does everyone else pee at the office? I have to bring a sample in from the morning. When I was working that meant that I carried it with me all day. EW! I forgot to bring it the first time with this pregnancy and they let me pee there.
Roe - Ryan is on our short list of boys names right now!
No real update on me. I'm starting to worry about my chances of having a girl to go with my boy. There are so many boys being announced! Makes me think I missed the "wave of girls", you know? ;) Not that I wouldn't love another boy, I would. Either way I'm done with this one!
Wow, this thread moves :eek:
Way too much for me to do individual shoutouts. I say a general hi and hope everyone's doing well.
Couple of things:
Names: We've shortlisted a few, but not telling people until after the baby is born. After reading your stories of families objecting, I'm not game :)
Pee I haven't yet had to give a sample, maybe with the IVF they've done the checking of whatever it is they check from a urine sample. Who knows :rolleyes: But I'm looking forward to peeing on my hand in the near future like angelgirl :D
Baby shower None here, I think I posted earlier that they're just not held here in downunder land.
Congrats on all the boys and girls It must be so exciting to know. (Grrrr at my DH!!)
Baby movements FINALLY, I'm feeling the fluttering and other weird movements. Of course, after I worried myself sick before my big ultrasound at 18.5 weeks and convinced myself the baby was dead because I hadn't felt it. Now, I'm feeling it all the time, during the day, at night. Before long I'll be complaining that I'm feeling it too much. Some people are never happy ;)
Belly Patting Have only had this from very close friends and a few family members. No strangers yet.
edsbabyrhi
Another teacher at school comes up to me and like massages my belly every day. It is so annoying and I am too nice to say anything. You're far nicer than I'd be, I'd tell her to sod off. Maybe pat her bum and see how she likes it.
Looloo Fantastic news on the amnio results, congrats.
meatpie
And by the way...apparently I lied about the bbs stopping their record-setting growth. I think they are back at it AGAIN. Mine too. I thought they'd done their growing until the milk comes in, but nooooooo.
Hi to everyone else. Hope you have a great weekend.
I'm 20 weeks today, incredible. Halfway there and it's still not feeling quite real. I'm sure reality will kick in soon enough :D
Oh, trust me, I can’t sew in a straight line either! I have cheapie sewing machine that I fix hubby’s blown out pants with but that is about all I can do. My mom’s sewing gene definitely didn’t get passed on. :D I sure am realizing how lucky I am though. She can sew just about anything. She made me a new ottoman cover and and then covered some pillows for me and it all looks fabulous. I can’t believe it came out perfect!
Ah, Pottery Barn! Hubby is lucky the closest one around her is over an hour away. LOL, I love Pottery Barn, and look out Pottery Barn Kids!
So, how was the Thai food? You would love working here. My boss’ wife is from Thailand and she makes some interesting dishes. I have tried a couple but mostly I can’t get past the smell! Yuck.
Now, get registering! :D
I just pee in the tiny Dixie cup they give you at the dr’s office, but all of my appointments have been in the morning. Hmm…that is interesting you have to bring it with you!
Oh, I see the peeing all over my hand days quickly approaching! I have read that our ahem, “parts down there” are going to swell a bit which doesn’t help with the projectile pee issue! Thanks for the description on the Braxton Hicks!
Mindy - the thai food was exellant. I had the pad thai which is what i always order. I usually don't get too exotic with food i am nto familiar with esp. when it's cooked with different spices.
ann- so glad you feel the baby now. I totally know what you mean thinking the worst when you did not feel the baby move.
pee- I always pee in the cup at the doctor's office. Even when i had a flat stomach i peed on my hand. It's so gross.
boy versus girl - I am so amazed at the number of boys versus girls. Is there anyone else who will be finding out the sex in the next few weeks?
I hope everyone has a great weekend.
Roe- I can't believe that you have your baby shower date already! You need to head over to Babies R' Us with your Baby Bargains book in tow now! :)
I think the same thing about all of the boys! Did you see the Jan mommies? They have 16 boys, and 6 girls! Where are all the little girls?
Lynnh- How strange that you have to bring in your "morning pee". They make me pee in the darn little cup first thing every appointment. The nurse said that they check the glucose and protein levels in the urine.
Ausbride- YEAH on baby movements! That was much sooner than they told you that you might feel them!
LOL at the patting of the bum… I might have to pick up that practice! ;)
Mindy- I had Thai food for lunch yesterday. YUM. We had Pad Thai, a lime dressing salad, and some green curry chicken. I am SO lucky to be able to go to any type of cuisine I like anytime- I am close to everything. It is SO much easier on my pregnant lady body and heels that way!
Have a fantastic weekend everyone!
I have a quick question that hopefully maybe one of you will have some insight on :) For the past few hours on and off I have been having this cramping/pain feeling on the right side of my belly (all the way on the side by where my arm would lay) It is the type of cramp that is hurts really only when I move kinda like I ran a marathon on something (a side stich or whatever they call them) I don't want to call my doctor because they are total fans of the phrase "go to the ER" for EVERYTHING since they are usually too busy to take you in. I really don't feel that it is anything serious, there is no cramping in the center of my belly or lower down and no bleeding and I can still feel her moving in there as usual. Just wondered if this is a different version of a "streching" pain or what. I hope this rambling makes sense somewhat. I'd appreciate any feedback anyone has :) Thanks!
cgriffin - I wouldn't worry too much. Sounds like your having uterus growing pains. I've been getting them too every now and then. My Dr already warned me about them. If it gets worse or doesn't seem to go away then I would call the office to make sure it's nothing too serious.
CGriffin- Sorry, no advice here. To me it sounds like one of the many growing pains we all look forward to encountering in the coming months. I would not let the pain get too bad without calling the doctor though. I hope it goes away for you soon.
Caitlin- I just read in my "what to expect....." book that sharp pains are very common bc of the stretching, etc. I am not sure you are experiencing stretching- but the book said if the pain is associated with bleeding, chills, fever, etc. to call the dr. Maybe the baby is resting on sometning and causing pain???? sorry.
Just wondering if anyone else out there is feeling like some of their brain has been removed :rolleyes:
I am having trouble remembering names, specific words, forgetting to buy things when I go shopping. I walk into the next room at home and (apart from if it's the toilet), forget why I went in there.
It's driving me nuts. I was talking to a friend yesterday, looking at her nursery, and was pointing at a clotheshanger, which I referred to 3 times as an umbrella. Once, maybe, but 3 times???
Please reassure me that I'm not the only one :D
cgriffin
10-03-2005, 05:56 AM
AusMarchBride-Don't worry. I was reading in a few different books that forgetfullness is very very common. They even described it like you did (i.e: not remembering to buy things at the store and forgetting why you went somewhere in the first place.)
LRL, marios_girl, & roe6373 Thanks for your replies. The pain eventually went away with no other symptoms so I passed it off as growing pains.
need to vent Yesterday, dh and I went to his sister's for a family get together. At one point during the day, MIL said someting to us about her treadmill (she moved to a 55+ community and they ahve a gym and she does not need her treadmill anymore). She asked when we would like to pick upthe treadmill. DH's other sister was sitting in on the conversation and OMG- she threw a fit. She ranted about her not being asked first and that the treadmill would look stupid in our house bc our place is cluttered (i am getting mad just re-hashing this). on a side note- she has not been to our house since we moved in May- she has no idea if it's cluttered or not. MIL said too bad we are getting the treadmill- she thought SIL had a treadmill. Which she had one and recently got rid of it. So now- she goes to FIL to complain and say we neeed to pick names from a hat. She did not get her way- but she hit below the belt. I cannot stand her anymore. I told dh that i was tired of everyone getting to say whatever they want and me always biting my tongue. If it were my own sister- I would have told her to grow the F--k up!!! But since she is not my sister, I feel i cannot say anything. The aggravation. BTW- she is turning 40 in November. WTF???
thanks for letting me vent. I dred having to see her tomorrow at the Jewish holidays. :(
roe - Vent away! Too bad she couldn't be grown up and stop whining after her mom said she wasn't changing her mind. Ugh.
Bruce (DH) just gave up a trip to London that he won from a radio station here. They called to ask if they could put him on the radio to announce it and he felt horrible telling them to give it to someone else. He's beating himself up for even signing up for the contest since we would have a short window to go w/ me being pregnant, and no where for Aaron to go while we were gone! oops.
roe- are you kidding me???? How immature. And how annying! glad you could vent- and Happy New Year to you. :)
LynnThanks for the positive shout out regarding my amnio. I really appreciate it.
AusMarchBride I am totally having mommy brain - AND mommy moods- i am SO moody lately.
Boy info I too can't believe all the boys we are having. The silly thing is that makes me think I'm having a boy even though really all of your babies have nothing to do with me. ;) Of course maybe all of us who aren't finding out the sex yet are having girls and that will even us up.
We went and registered over the weekend. It was definitely a little overwhelming and I need to do some adjustments once it gets online. Does anyone know how long it takes to have your registery appear online? We also stripped the wallpaper in the baby's room and picked out our color- summer sun. Delightful
So before I completely lose my mind and my memory.... here are a few of the names we're considering. Unfortunately, they're all super popular according to the Social Security 2004 list.. oh well.
First Names (in no particular order):
Connor
Ryan
Alexander (Alex)
Andrew (Drew)
Liam
Benjamin (Ben)
Middle Names:
James
Joseph
Matthew
That's all I can remember. My mom bought us a baby name book and I wrote some of them down with Jay but now I can't remember if these are the names we agreed on!!
I really like Connor -- so do my parents -- it's growing on Jay.
My parents gave us the gift that my dad's staff gave him in September for Grandparents Day -- it's a hooded towel set for an infant!! So cute - I think it's in the shape of a giraffe! :)
lynnh
10-03-2005, 02:03 PM
ali- Love the name Connor! I've really got to get a list of boy names together.
Bras - I received my Yes! bra that I got off of ebay. I posted about it earlier in the thread, so I thought I'd give a review. I think it's a good sleep bra, not much support for large breasted women. Maybe I should have gotten the ++, but I didn't want a uni-boob like I do with my Bravado. It's a tank, so you pull it over the head and pretty soft. So, I guess if you don't need a ton of support, you'll like the bra. Otherwise, it's a cheap sleep bra!
Wanted to check in. I am definitely feeling kicks and I think I am feeling some general movement as well. No more guessing on if it’s just gas or actual kicking. The little munchkin was awake a lot yesterday, most of the day. I was very surprised. I thought they slept more.
roe
Good grief about your SIL! Geez, can she be any more immature? I’m glad you could vent and get it out and that the ILs aren’t falling for her adult temper tantrum. I’m sorry you have to see her again!
LRL
Yeah, I saw that the January Mommies thread is full of boys as well! My BIL’s wife told me that boy birth rates are up too. Maybe there’s something in the water. ;)
cgriffin
I know I’m a little late answering your question about cramping, but I have gotten some muscle cramps before in that area and I really think it was just stretching. As long as you aren’t having menstrual type cramps, I wouldn’t worry much about it. Our bodies are making some serious room and I think the lovely pain comes with it. I’m glad to hear the pain went away!
Ann
Yup, what brain? I swear mine has stopped functioning, or at least my short term memory has been pretty bad lately. I get destinesia a lot (when you go somewhere and can’t remember why you went there). I’ve read that it’s common so I’m not concerned, but lynnh is kind of scaring me with the “mommy brain” theory! :D
LooLoo
Yay for registering and picking out a paint color! Your nursery is going to be so cute.
aligirl
Good luck with the names! At least you only have to worry about boy names, right? I know hubby and I are going to have troubles with this. I know it’s supposed to be fun, but I find it really stressful! I think I need to get one of those baby name books. Have you checked out www.babynames.com? It’s pretty handy.
lynnh
Thanks for the bra review! I will have to remember that. The boob fairy is still MIA at my house so I haven’t had to buy any yet, which is kind of nice. Of course, though, I am paranoid that they are going to explode at once and leave me with lovely stretch marks. Ah, oh well.
Not much to report. Still haven't felt any movement :( but, I am carrying extra "padding" AND my placenta is anterior, so my doctor told me that it will take longer for me to feel the flutters.
My mom came out this past weekend and we went shopping - bought a bunch of cutie sleepers, onesies, receiving blankets, etc. My mom also bought some infant nighties for bebe, which prompted my hubby to nickname her "Sweet Pea," since she'll be wearing the little baby nighties like Popeye's baby on the cartoon.
Definitely feeling the preggo brain here! I'm always spacing out and just feeling generally dingy.
I can really feel stretching down below. It's not really cramping, per se, just a very dull pain. I also got a call from my OB - another bacterial infection. Gah! No symptoms, but I need to take some pretty serious antibiotics to get rid of it, or I run the risk of pre-term labor. Joy!
Have been going crazy with ordering clothes for Gymboree - must. be. stopped. I love their clothes so much, but Sweet Pea is going to have more clothes than hubby and I, combined!
jenna- You are not alone with the BI, I got mine in the first trimester and had to wait until I was past 12w to take the pretty serious antibiotics! I was worried when I started cramping that it was preterm labor. Of course it wasn't and I was able to get rid of the infection, but it was scary to think that a BI can cause preterm labor.
We are going to pick up our crib tomorrow:D Here is a picture of it!
michiganbride- I love the crib. It's so nice. How exciting too.
prego brain I have such prego brain it's ridiculous. Today one of the attys asked me to do something. I did it and then he questioned me on it. I have no confidence in my own memory anymore that i had to re-check what i did. It turned out i did it right- but I had to give him a lashing for questioning me bc i am doubting everything i do these days.
baby names I don't know if i mentioend this. We looked through a baby name book and I hated it. They had the most ridiculous names. I don't want to post any just in case anyone is thinking of them and i don't want to offend anyone. But we decided to frgo the baby naming books. too confusing. :confused:
Hope all is well with everyone!!
We had our ultrasound today and everything is looking good!! The heartbeat was at 136 and everything is measuring right on schedule.
We also decided to go ahead and find out the gender of our little one - it looks like we are going against the trend of the Feb 2006 moms-to-be...
michiganbride LOVE the crib! Beautiful.
Mindy3094glad you are feeling the baby move. Isn't that SO cool.
jennapeachAhh- here is where I envy that you know the sex! i haven't ordered any clothes! I hope my little one won't be naked.
not too much to report. I feel like you can only tell I am pregnant from the side- and that is if you know that I am pregnant. Either way- I've pretty much moved into maternity tops to try to cover the enormous boobs. ;) Just a side note that my mother in law came last weekend with some great gifts for the baby- lots of patriots and Red sox gear. very cute. I have my doctor's appointment on Friday so I'll have to ask about my CBC counts- and if I should get a flu shot.
QOTD Are you planning on getting a flu shot? And do you normally?
I don't normally- but I'm thinking I should.
TheFuture Congrats on your girl!
aligirl That is awesome that Jay felt the baby. I was getting some good kicks last night, but hubby still can't feel them from the outside yet. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks!
ETA - Flu Shot I am pretty anti-flu shot so I don't see me getting one this year either, unless it is strongly suggested by my dr, of course.
roe6373
10-05-2005, 09:23 AM
thefuture- congtrats on the baby girl!!!! So exciting.
flu shot- My firm offers a free flu shot, so i usually take advantage of it. Last year, i could not get one bc of the huge shortage- but this year i am going to get one. I called the dr. adn they recommended it.
Registry I think i may register this weekend or on Monday. Does anyone know of a list to follow for registering? I ahve no idea how many bottles to register for or even what kind (who know which ones the baby will like).
Ausmarchbride- You are having baby brain too? I can't remember anything, and am having a hard time concentrating at work. I take a night class on Mondays, and by the time I get home, I can't remember a darn thing we talked about. Hopefully it gets better, but probably Mommy brain will kick in then.
Roe- How immature of your SIL! You have a right to be angry at her childish outbursts. I have a similar situation with my sister, where the interactions between her and my mom are not always the most pleasant (they communicate in the same way). I have told my Mom that when the baby comes, I prefer that if I leave him with her, for my sister not to be there. I don’t want my son to learn negative communication skills. :rolleyes:
We registered using the list that Babies R Us provided to us. I have heard that babies usually get used to the first bottles they are introduced to- so we registered for an intro-set of Dr. Browns bottles which are supossed to reduce colic.
Lynnh- Darn about the London trip! At least that means that you have good luck running through your family! We also picked out paint this weekend- a light, bright blue. I can't wait to paint!
Ali- I have a couple infant towels already, and I think that is the first thing I am going to want to do when baby comes home. I LOVE babies wrapped in towels- they are irresistable! :)
Mindy- At least you are getting kicked during the day! My little baby boy has been having parties starting at 11 o' clock at night! :rolleyes:
Jenna- You are a baby clothes shopping fiend too? I went to buy baby hangers this weekend for the closet in the nurery. I wanted to hang the clothes for easier inventory. Well, We bought 50 hangers, and used over 40 of them. DH tells me that I need to STOP shopping, but I just look at him and tell him that I honestly can't help myself. Sigh. SO CUTE. Gymboree has the cutest clothes! I can't remember seeing one of those around here, maybe I will have to go and check it out! ;)
Michiganbride- I like the crib! Is that a Baby's Dream crib? We were set on one of those before DH decided that he wanted the babys furniture to be maple colored. They are fantastic cribs for the price!
Carisa- YEAH for the girl!!! Ahem. It's good to know that our little boys will have some opposite sex playmates one day. LOL. I was starting to get worried!! :D
Flu Shot- I was actually thinking about that this morning too! I am not one to run out and get the flu shot, as I have minimal interaction with children, and am relatively healthy with no asthma, etc. I was reading yesterday in another thread about how they recommend for people who are going to be interacting with infants during the flu season to get flu shots. I think this might be the factor that gets me to go. Our babies will be born in the middle of the season, right? I was also wondering about whether the antibodies we create to the dead virus will be passed on to the baby through breastfeeding. (Must be the case). I guess those are the determinants for me.
Have a good Wed! I just realized that I have a three day weekend coming up! I am excited! I think we are going to move things around in the baby's room and possibly get to painting.
I have missed so much so I apologize if I miss any of you!!! Us: The infection is gone so we neded up going to Boston for the holidays and it was fantastic. Although I caught a pretty good cold and now am dealing with a cough :rolleyes: . But I still feel good. Going back to see the doc this week to make sure my infection is completely gone.
I think we may start to register, or at least look at stores this weekend and next. We really do need to get going because our baby shower is in November - just one month away! My gawd!!!
Still look thick, but a bit more pregnant. Got a few "you don't even look pregnant comments from people we met this weekend" and a "You know you are having a girl" because my gf thinks I'm carrying high. Any truth to all that? How you are carrying is related to the sex, or is that another wives tale?
QOTD - I am getting the flu shot. The school does it for free, and since I work at a school, thought it best.
Ali - Congrats on feeling the kid! Isn't it amazing!?!?! I feel the kid ALL the time now. I get how many women freak if they don't feel it for a few days. This one we have is ACTIVE!
Carisa - Congrats on the girl!!!
AugMarchBride - So your bbs are expanding as well, huh? So silly looking - they are!! At least on me. Thanks for reminding me to pick up Baby Bargains. We've got to get going on a place to live and registering...
Roe - Happy New Year. How did the holiday go with SIL?
LooLoo - You are so ahead of me - registering. Really need to this weekend and next. Uggghhh. More shopping. I might do some registering next week since school closes for the Jewish holiday. Maybe the stores won't be as crazy...
Michigan - I love your crib! My gf, who just had her baby has a light wood crib and it looks great. I'm thinking of doing the same!!! Let us know how you like it.
Jenna - I wonder when my mom is goign to start shopping for this kid. Although she says there is not a ton of neutral/non-gender clothes right now.
another vent Sorry i keep crying over here. I officially hate my job!!! We received notification today that the firm is switching isnurance companies. My Doctor does not accept the insurance from the new company Horizon BCBS. I am not really sure what is going to happen. but it looks like i can switch doctors (ain't gonna happen) or i can see my current doctor and be out of network. I am so pissed bc i am taking it personally and i feel like i am getting screwed. the irony to this is that we had Horizon last year adn got rid of them and went to Oxford. With Oxford, it was great bc i was able to see my dr. again and now a year later they switch back. if they had only not switched- i would have found someone in the plan. uggh!!! Why are we the only country in this pathetic world that provides the worst medical benefits and even worse maternity leave? Maybe i will quit my job and leave the country. Ya think i am a little hormonal?
Roe- I am so sorry. That sucks majorly.They are switching insurance companies for Jan? Does that mean that if you keep your current doctor, then you might have to pay for the last couple of appointments, right? Then you would have to deliver with someone else through your new insurance? Goodness, this gets complicated. :eek:
Maybe you can do a screening appointment to check out potential doctors from the other plan? (Kind of like checking out peditricians?) Then you wouldn't have to wait until Jan to get comfortable with a new person.
I hope you can figure something out!!! ::: HUGS! :::
I say the same thing- they get a year of maternity leave in France as an incentive to have children. DH has heard me say WAY too many times that I am leaving the country. I guess the annual spa visits in Norway would be a good way to go too! ;)
I haven't posted in awhile, b/c I don't have too much to report which I guess is a good thing. The little guy has been moving a lot and it is the best feeling in the world:D
QOTD I will be getting a flu, I usually do and since that baby will be born during the flu season I would rather not take any chances, and of course the dr. recommends it anyway.
QOTD - I don't think I'm getting the flu shot. When I was pregnant last time my OB said it was up to me and I didn't get one. I've never had one in my life. Aaron and my DH will get one though.
I have my OB appt. tomorrow. Good timing since my mom and sister will be here to watch Aaron. I'm tempted to see if my mom wants to go hear the hb, but then I feel bad that I won't let MIL come to an appointment (she just drives me crazy and I'd have to cart her around since she doesn't drive.) I have a feeling my mom will just tell me she's going though! ;) Hopefully he'll tell me to schedule my u/s appointment, or I'm asking!
Hope everyone is doing well. Gotta go - Aaron is emptying the garbage in the office!
Roe- I am so sorry to hear about your insurance problems. I know that it must be very difficult to decide which is more important. I don't know how it works where you go, but I know that my doctor probably will not deliver my baby unless I have him on my due date. I have to take turns seeing each doctor at her practice. Maybe you could see your doctor up until your last few weeks then take your chart to the new doctor to deliver. To me it doesn't matter who delivers as long as the baby comes out. During the pg I like to have my normal doctor, because she knows me. So Good Luck in the descion making.:(
Angel- that is way to cute that you can see the babies feet in the pic. Sometimes I wish I was having twins. It must be so exciting.
So we picked up our crib on Wed. I ended up getting the Dark Wood. Not quite as dark as cherry, but not light at all. DH really liked the darker wood for a boy. The price was completely reasonable for such a durable bed and it converts 3 times. We paid $360.00 all together for the bed. I thought it was a really good price. I will post a pic of it when we get it put together. I am having such a hard time picking out my nursery decor. I really don't want to have a theme, but I want everything to match. Very stress about it. Hopefully I find something soon, I really want to start on the nursery.
lynnhI hear you on the MIL thing- don't feel guilty there is a special thing between a girl and her mom. ;)
Had my doctor's appointment today. Gained 3 pounds this past month- so that's good. So far I've gained a total of 5 pounds- I'm actually still not even at my prepregnancy weight- but I'm assuming that is going to happen soon enough! Heard the heart beat (Gosh do I love hearing that sound!!) check My doctor said they do recommend the flu shot for pregnant ladies so I think I'll go ahead and just do that. She also said she hoped the worst was behind me with the whole quad test and stuff.
Hi ladies. I'm so slack, haven't posted here in a week or so. Hope everyone is doing well, and congrats and I envy you to all of you who know the sex of your bubs :D
angelgirl You look gorgeous, talk about glowing. Sorry to hear about the continuing BH contractions, must be weird, but it's good that they're not "productive". My baby, who I've decided to name "Arm" send you his/her best ;) Isn't it fortunate that "Arm" is a uinisex name seeing as I don't know what I'm having. I thought "Leg" for our second child, the possibilities are endless...."Torso, Chest, Hand, Foot....."
I am having such a hard time picking out my nursery decor. I really don't want to have a theme, but I want everything to match Oh I'm with you. I'm not a theme person, but it's quite hard to find cute stuff that matches. You mentioned your cot converted 3 ways, is that cot, toddler bed and then daybed? We have those converting cots down here, but none of them go to a single bed, only to toddler bed (i.e. with the side rails).
LooLoo I hope the worst is behind you also, you don't need any more stress like that quad test stuff.
meatpie
truth to all that? How you are carrying is related to the sex, or is that another wives tale? I think it's a bunch of hooey. For as many people say it's true, the same number say it wasn't for them. Same as the wedding ring doing circles or whatever, whether you had m/s or not. I wouldn't bet the house on it
lynnh
Totally normal! But, sorry to tell you, that you won't get it all back because "mommy brain" is sometimes just as bad as "preggo brain"! OH good grief, I'm in trouble then :D I hoped it would come back magically with delivery.
roe I'm so sorry to hear about your insurance/doctor problems. Have you decided whether you'll stay with your doc or go with one under the plan? (BTW, I have no idea how the US medical insurance thing works, it all sounds hideously complicated). And your SIL and MIL sounds like they both need a good slap, all that fuss over a treadmill.
The Future How cute that your daughter had her ankles crossed during the ultrasound. Very ladylike.
All well here although I had a scare this morning. Yesterday I had a very busy day, and was doing a lot of sorting through old boxes of books and letters and stuff. The baby didn't move at all yesterday during the day (not that I noticed anyway) which is unusual. Then I woke at about 3am to pee and I can always feel the baby kicking at that time. Nothing. So then I proceeded to lie awake for the next 2 hours convinced that the baby was dead. I figured there wasn't much point in rushing off to hospital because there's nothing they could do anyway. I eventually fell asleep, then when DH got up this morning I woke up and immediately the little sod (baby not DH) was kicking away like a mad thing. Every couple of minutes :rolleyes: Why oh why could it not have done that at some point between 3 and 5am to ease my mind. DH of course gave me a lecture about why didn't I wake him up etc, but I figure he had to work today and I didn't, so there's no point in 2 of us being wide awake and stressed.
And now, bub is kicking like a mad thing, even as I sit here. Never mind, I'll make sure to remind him/her of the stress he/she caused me when it's older :rolleyes:
happy Monday!!!! I have taken off of work today in honor of Columbus Day. Not really. My works for a bank and is off today. So i took a personal day so we can go REGISTER!!!!!
Ann- You are a sweetheart for not waking up you dh. I have the same fears when i don't feel the baby move. I was actually thinking about getting one of the heart monitors so i can hear the hb whenever i want to.
I am still not sure what to do about the insurance. We are having an merting with the new insurance company this week. Ishould get my questions answered at this meeting. I think I will most likely stay with my dr. and be an out of network patient which will cost us more $$$- but i feel more comfortable with this dr. than a new one at this point. I am getting annoyed thinking abotu it all over again.:mad:
I feel hopelessly behind again. My family was down visiting this weekend so I wasn't online much.
Friday was my appointment. H/B was good at 140 (lower than Aaron's was). Everything else was fine. I love these quick appointments! Well, the wait wasn't quick since the Dr. had emergency surgery for my origianal time and then they had to squeeze a bunch of people in.... but, whatever. I did ask him about the u/s and he acted like he didn't realize that I didn't have one! I could have gotten it done on Saturday, but our schedule was so full with family stuff. We scheduled the u/s for this Friday at 10:15, but I'm going to try to make it later so that I'm sure DH can make it from work. Oh! And I'm now up to my prepregnancy weight. My next regular appointment is Nov 4th, I believe. They gave me the stuff for the GTT for me to drink that day too. Orange - yum! :rolleyes: I made that appointment at 3:00 so that I could have a babysitter, but now I have to fast from 12:00 on. I hope it's one of my "not hungry" days.
My mom, sisters and I went shopping this weekend and I found almost $200 in maternity clothes! We went to an outlet mall that has a maternity store with three different brands in it (Motherhood, Mimi and pea in the pod, I think). With "personal shoppers", it was a big success! :) I only found two pair of pants, but I already have some from before. I also bought 6 shirts, one of which I can pair with a skirt I think will still fit for a wedding we have to go to this weekend.
Hope everyone is feeling well!
roe - have fun registering!
Catching up... This thread is really starting to move!
I've FINALLY felt Sweet Pea move. On Friday, I was sitting at my desk, working, and I felt this spastic type feeling. It wasn't where I thought it would be (it was lower) and it didn't feel how I thought it would (like butterflies), but I'm pretty sure it was her, since I've felt that feeling off and on since. :D Every once in a while, I'll get a *doink* and it'll take me a minute to realize - hey, that's Sweet Pea!
I must be kept away from Target, Children's Place, Gymboree and pretty much all other stores that sell baby stuff at this point, cause I'm a buying fool. I need to stop!
We bought a crib last week. It's getting delivered this Thursday. It's a white convertible, like this
http://shop.com.edgesuite.net/ccimg.catalogcity.com/210000/210200/210281/products/10333222.jpg
Sweet Pea will have to share her bedroom with my stepdaughters, who are with us every other weekend. We've already done their room up, Princess=style, with yellow walls and pink and purple accents, so we're happy that Sweet Pea is a girl, since we don't have to change much in the room - just figure out where to put everything! My mom is going to spend a weekend at our place and help me declutter the girls' room and reorganize their closet for maximum space usage.
The antibiotics course is almost finished, thank goodness. It's giving me horrible heartburn and esophagal pain. I feel like a pill-popper - I take a/b's three times per day, plus prenatal vitamin AND I started taking a DHA supplement made by Enfamil for brain development. I'm considering taking an acidophilus supplement, as well, to help balance the flora in my digestive/repro tract (and hopefully avoid more bacterial/UTI/yeast infections), but I want to check with my OB before I do that.
I've been slacking on making appts for hospital tours and registering for CB prep classes/infant CPR. Need to get going on that. Next OB appt is Friday, Oct 14. Also have a repeat big u/s on Monday, Oct 17. Not looking forward to the u/s, as it's at Cedars. Their prenatal DX center is ridiculous - they make people wait SO long to see the doctor. We waited 45 minutes, with me, flat on my back, tummy hanging out with transducer gel all over me between seeing the u/s tech and perinatologist. DH was pissed! The peri told us that 45 minutes was actually quite quick, so I'm not looking forward to going back there. But, we get to see Sweet Pea again, so I can't be too down on it.
Geez... ramble much?
ETA: I was chilling with DH on Sat night and felt something cold on my nipple. I looked down and there was a wet spot directly over my nipple on my tank top! whoa! I knew things were happening to prep for milk-making, but I was shocked to see leakage this early. :eek:
Just a quick drive-by.... I won't be on much this week as I'll be in a training class starting tomorrow through Friday. Woowoo. I love being the guinea pig (I'm in the pilot class for this course- to see if I can break it). Always nice to be picked on.
Went shopping with my mom yesterday while DH was at the Rams game and she bought us a baby book from Hallmark - pretty cute :) and I bought part of the bedding - just a pillow to stick on the yet-to-be-purchased glider so that we can choose paint colors...
http://a293.g.akamai.net/7/293/5910/0010/image2.styleinamerica.com/pkecimgs/images/products/200541/0007/img38m.jpg
Plus, we switched the drapes/sheets/bed skirt from the ligther blue to navy since we're going to paint the walls that lighter blue. The navy, according to dear sweet mom, is more boyish than the ligther blue. Whatever!! I like the navy better anyway - and since DH doesn't care, we're good to go :)
Hello to all! Not much going on here. I had an appointment (again) last week to make sure the kidney infection is gone and eveything looks great. Got the orange gluclose test drink for my next appointment on Nov. 4.
I had a "Oh my gawd we are having a child" moment at this appointment. Our doc told me we should start thinking about pediatrician's and start the interview process and I just started laughing and smiling because I think I finally realized we are having a baby. I've been on sort of a high since then - we started our registery this weekend, and will finish choosing colors, nursery stuff on Thursday.
QOTD - Have we talked abiout strollers yet? We registered for the Graco Quattro Tour travel system, but it's pretty heavy (24 pounds) which worries me because I'm just 5-2 and although I lift weights and work out - not sure if I want to struggle with a heavy stroller. So I originally was going to register for the Graco MetroLite but after reading reviews the Metro was not given as good review on Amazon as the Quattro. I had nightmares about choosing a stroller last night I'm so sterssed about this decision. :eek: Any thoughts ladies???
aligirl - I really like your color choice. I wish I could make up my mind!!!
jennapeach - I love your crib!!! What did you end up going with? I had no idea leakage could happen this early!! Wow!
Lynn - I would KILL for an outlet mall with those maternity shops. I'm popping out of my pre-preggo top at work as we speak!!
roe - I'll try to visit your journal!!!
I don't have much time, DH is home from work today and we have a thousand things to do but I wanted to comment on this.
We have the quattro tour travel system from when I had Morgan and I'm only 5'3 and had no troubles lifting it or getting it in or out of the car. I LOVE the stroller. Originally we were going to get the metrolite but with the metrolite you cannot access the basket underneath when the stroller is fully in the recline position (which is what it will always be in if you are putting the snugride on it) and that was a deal breaker for us. I don't know how important that will be for you but I just wanted to make you aware of that little fact. We still use our quattro tour 2+ years later for bigger trips (amusement parks, fairs, zoos) and we have a smaller lighter stroller for walks and short trips.
ann...so glad everything is okay! a few things i do if i don't feel them move for a bit. 1. sitting down and leaning forward really seems to get them going. 2. a cold cold large glass of orange juice. or even caffeine if you're worried. should get them moving!
everything is good here. both babies are kicking up a storm all the time...you can see it from the outside!
no stroller thoughts here, yet, but i guess i have to get on that. we don't have a nursery, so we're just converting some of our furniture and then dealing with everything else later. no paint, though!
So far behind.... Ann I think I was in the same boat as you the other night.
DH is in the process of painting the nursery now. After trips to Home Depot then Benjamin Moore and back to Home Depot we finally got paint. Since he has the day off I figured I needed to put him to work.
We registered for the Evenflo Aura Elite Stroller. It was light and easy to fold up/take the carrier out, etc. My sister has the same so we got to take it for a test drive when we were all on vacation. I like the Gracos and I loved the Eddie Bauer, but the Evenflo was just much smoother to opperate.
We had our big u/s this morning and while we wanted to find out the gender, the baby was not cooperating so it will remain a mystery for now. It was on its stomach with its little legs curled up underneath it (when it wasn't kicking me) and it just would not turn so we could get a look. The tech did say that everything looks normal and is measuring right on. We also got to see just about everything else and got a good shot of a little foot which was very cool.
I guess you can add me to the "surprise" list although I'd rather know beforehand!
i think i forgot to say in my last post that we have an u/s tomorrow to check 3 things:
1. growth scan. this is done for twins to make sure they're growing well and at the same rate.
2. cervical check.
3. a check on baby B's kidney.
Aw, thanks! I have to wonder if the shyness will translate into its little personality. We'll see eventually! I hope your u/s goes perfectly!
I love that bedding! Actually, anything from PBK is dangerous for me. :) But that set was on my list for a long time.
ETA--I almost forgot. I got a 40% off coupon for JoAnn Fabrics which runs through October 15 so I went and bought the fabric last night for the curtains, crib skirt, and bumper. I can email anyone the coupon if they are interested. Just PM me!
I also went to a baby care class at BRU last night with my friend. It was very basic but I did learn a few things so that was good!
Hi ladies! Sorry that I won't catch everyone, but hello all the same!!!
Ausbride- How funny about the little one waking up at inconvenient times for mommy! I think I might have woken my DH up, you are much kinder than I am!
Jennapeach- Very nice crib! I love the convertible non-moving side rail cribs! (I am of course biased as that is what we ordered!) Thank goodness you don't have to redecorate the girls room- taping and painting is the biggest pain ever!
Ali- I love the bedding! Part of me wants to put some bright colors in the baby's room too- but I think we have settled on light blue/ivory, and birght accents. I hope the baby won't think it's too dull- ;)
Jordan- We attmepted to paint our nursery this weekend too. Attempted is the key word here- I am sure you guys got much farther than we did.
Mindy- I am sure the baby will cooperate next time- you got a cute photo though!
Ok ladies. I am officially shocked. We are going to be parents soon! I can't believe that I am being entrusted to care for something so fragile and so important. I honestly am feeling a little overwhelmed about it (in a good way). DH and I were talking about what our parenting style will be, and how scary it is to raise a child without a manual-- there is SO much to consider!
I read in the paper yesterday about the new reccomendation to give your child pacifiers when you put them to sleep. Argh. This is the one thing that I didn't want to do. When my younger sister and I were little we were addicted to those things, and I mean UGLY addicted. My mom couldn't go anywhere without an extra spare or two. If this is a reccomendation to prevent SIDS, then I guess I will think about it more. I am SO disappointed though. Does anyone else feel this way?
I think we read the same article. My mom sent it to me basically to let me know she now has proof that co-sleeping = bad. :rolleyes: Anyway, I still don't see what their basis is on concerning pacifiers and SIDS, I think that they made it very clear that having baby sleep only on its back (not even it's side) was much more important and not to co-sleep then the pacifier issue. Personally I'm not going to stress over it too much, I still part-time cosleep with DD who is 2.5 but we didn't really co-sleep until she was about 4 or 5 months old, before that she was in her snugride most nights sleeping since that's the ONLY place she would sleep other then ON me. This is a brand new thing they've released and while it's great to read up on everything and be well informed you have to make the right decisions for you and your family.
Edited to add the article so others can see what we're talking about if they haven't already.....
LRL, I'm not going to sweat the paci article too much. I read it yesterday. I'm not eager to use a paci with Sweet Pea, since I see so many 2+ year olds, still sucking on them. Fine for them - just doesn't really float my boat. I think it's way more important to stick with the correct sleeping positions and other precautions.
Kelly, I hear so many mixed words on co-sleeping. My best friend did it, but it made weaning extremely difficult. She still swears by it, though, so it can't be too bad, eh? I can't say we won't end up at least partially co-sleeping, even though my mom is also very opposed to it. It's not her baby! Frankly, if it'll help us all sleep better, well, we'll probably give it a shot. My mom doesn't even think a baby belongs in the same room as her parents! She told me that if we keep her in our room, we'll never get her out. Guess it's a generational thing?
cgriffin, glad I'm not alone with the leakage. It hasn't been a lot and it's only been from one side, but it totally threw me for a loop.
We told my younger step-daughter this past weekend. The older one has known almost from day 1 (thanks to my big-mouthed hubby - heh). The younger one is 5 and we thought it best to wait until the PG was well-established to tell her. This was the convo:
DH: I want to tell you that you're going to be a big sister.
SD: *I'm* gonna be the big sister of <older SD>??
DH: No, you're going to have a little sister.
SD: <looks around> Where is she?
DH <points to my tummy>
SD: Jennifer isn't a baby!
DH: The baby is *inside* Jennifer's tummy
SD: It doesn't look like there's a baby in there
DH: Because she's really small right now
SD: When is she coming out?
DH: In a few months
SD: When is that?
DH: After Christmas
SD: But, I want her to come out *NOW*
Oh my, that child is just too much. :rolleyes: We were rolling after that exchange!
jennapeach What a great response from your SD!!!
LRL We got one coat done and DH will probably do a second tonight. The weather has just been so damp here that you really need to give it a good 12 hours between coats.
aligirl Love the crib bedding. I'll have to avoid PBK for now b/c I think that might match with wall color we did and DH would kill me if I questioned my crib bedding again.
Wow, I've been gone a week and so much to catch up on! This thread moves fast. So if I don't get to all the individual shout outs, sorry! But Hi to all!!!
jennapeach - Oh your SD's response was so adorable! Just priceless. :)
How cool was it to feel the baby move for the first time!! Now I freak out if I don't feel the baby every day. i just wish I could feel it more often.
Cute crib!
Kellymb75 & LRL - I agree that the most important thing is for the baby to sleep on it's back. I'm not sure if I will do the pacifier thing as I too am scared of my child getting addicted to it and the dental problems. I still don't think I will be using it to put the baby to sleep every night though.
LRL - You're not the only one freaking out! I realized last night I had about 4 months left and started freaking out too. I kept think the house is a total disaster and I better start cleaning soon. I think the nesting phase may be kicking in. LOL!
Mindy3094 - Thanks for sharing your U/S pic! Sorry it wasn't cooperating for you. Will you have another U/S to find out?
jordan - So did DH finish painting the nursery? My DH has finished painting our nursery. Just some touch up to do so hopefuly it will be done soon. Hope your's is coming along.
aligirl - Cute bedding! I love Pottery Barn Kids stuff too!
meatpie, lynnh & LooLoo02- Glad to hear everything is going well so far for you.
roe6373 - Hope you had fun registering. Still haven't decided when we're going to register yet. I'm dying to do it though. Orinially, we were going to wait until I was 25 weeks afte my next appt. but now I'm getting impatient. LOL!
And I totally feel for you about the insurance situation as you may remember I am going through the same thing myself. I hope it all works out for you. Until DH finds a job, we're going to just pay Cobra since I calculated that it will be cheaper than paying the out of network costs. But I'm with you about not wanting to switch Drs at this point. For me it wasn't my Dr that was the problem as the hospital. I can't believe the hospital didn't take my insurance. Ugh! Again I really hope things work out for you.
AusMarchBride - I have been going through the same scare you have had. About a week or so ago, I was feeling the baby really good. So I figured I would continue to feel the baby like that. Nope. For the past few days I have been feeling the baby but much less and not as hard so I kept stressing myself out. I was freaking out because I started to eat cold cuts again and thought I killed it or made it sick. But even as I write this I am feeling the baby again. I would always feel it before going to bed and when I didn't I just worried myself.
Oh, you are so not the only one feeling like a part of your brain is removed. I have been like that for the past couple months I swear. I have the hardest time at work now too. Ugh!
michiganbride - Can't wait to see your crib! Sounds like you got a good deal.
angelgirl8 - Cute belly shots!!! You are adorable! And thanks for sharing your U/S pic. Glad to hear everything is going well so far with the twins!
TheFuture - Thanks for sharing the U/S pics! Congrats on having a girl!
strollers - Still have no idea what we're registering for but right now we're looking at the Graco Passage Travel System. We already got a stroller from my cousin but it's pretty old and a bit dirty too. Plus since it doesn't recline we won't be able to use it until the baby is much older. But I too was worried about carrying a heavy stroller. Hopefully it won't be too bad.
flu shot - I've never had one before in my life. So I have not thought about it for me now. I guess I will discuss it with my Dr and go from there.
Names - So we got lucky with us having a boy because there was only one name that DH & I agreed on - Miles. Believe me, we went through millions of names. We would just spit out names as were watching credits on TV or movies. And that was the only one we both liked. I never though we were going to have a boy since we had that name picked out already. We had at least 6 girl names that we liked. As for middle name, we're thinking of Lee. It's my middle name and my mom's maiden name. We thought about carrying the tradition of using my maiden name for the middle name but it just doesn't flow and plus I kinda don't want to carry my dad's name. I would rather carry on my mom's family name. But we're also HUGE White Sox fans and been debating on using one of the players names as a middle name expecially if they got to the World Series but we will see about that. LOL! GO SOX!!!!
Baby Shower - Still have no idea if or when I will be getting one. MIL said she was going to through one but not sure when. My family will not because Koreans just don't do it and really there would only be 4 - 6 people from my side that would possibly come. The rest are fresh of the boat type family members and unless it's a wedding or funeral they don't ever come to any family functions. But I do wish I knew when MIL was planning for one so I know when we can start to register.
Pee - I always just pee at the Dr's office. It's the first thing they have you do when you get in. Never had to pee outside the office though. But can I add that I have been going to the bathroom more often now. Ugh!
Let me post this before I lose it....
Nursery - So we got the major stuff done in the nursery now. My DH painted the walls. We did a pale blue on 3 walls and a checkerboard design on the last wall with the blue, yellow, light green and pale red. The wall looks great. We still have some touch up to do but hopefully it will be done this week. We also took out the ugly pink carpet that was in there and put in laminate wood flooring. DH did an amazing job with that. So worth it. Plus we got an awesome deal on bedding at the Land of Nod warehouse sale. We actually bought a few stuff there. We got an amazing deal! We saved nearly $650 if we paid regular price for everything. Here's what we got:
So we ended up buying two sets of bedding, well kinda. I couldn't believe it but we were able to get this Dwell Baby SET that normally costs $249 for $8!!!!
http://www.landofnod.com/landofnod/images/0401091_lg.jpg
Yes! I'm not kidding. The set includes the quilt, bumper, fitted sheet and skirt. The only problem with it was that it was returned and supposedly had an odor. Well, when we opened it at home we didn't notice any smell. Just a musty smell but nothing that can't be washed right out! Otherwise it was on great condition. We originally found a yellow one but as I was walking a girl noticed mine. She had the blue one and asked if we could trade because she wanted a more neutral color. I was like sweet because we wanted the blue one. Then as we were checking out I found out that there were only 4 sets in the sale. I couldn't believe we got one!
The other bedding we got was this alphabet one. I think this is the one we plan to use though.
http://www.landofnod.com/landofnod/images/010124_Large.jpg
We were able to find the bumper and the quilt. Each cost us $8, and they are normally selling at $79 each. Crazy!!! The only problem with the bumper was that it's missing the letter V. We don't care. Also I must have been so lucky because people were asking me where I found the quilt. I grabbed it as soon as I saw it. Actually we were grabbing everything and throwing things back when we finally picked the two we got. We coulnd't find the sheets or skirt but that's okay. It's not too expensive and if anything I can get a solid color and put that on our registry. The reason we decided to go with this bedding first was because Mario thought the Dwell baby one was too girly looking. I don't mind though. We figured we could use both. Like if one gets dirty we will change it out. My other plan is to just save the Dwell baby for our second kid so we don't have to buy anything. I think it's neutral enough to use for a girl or a boy. Actually we can use either for our second kid I think. Do you think that's a wise choice to just save one for the next kid????
Other great finds we got were:
http://www.landofnod.com/landofnod/images/0410161_large.jpg
We got this toy chest for $59 when it normally goes for $199. We plan to paint it though. Haven't decided exactly what color yet though. I'm hoping my mom can make a cushion for the top like in the picture.
We got a rug for $39, normally it's $129 (see pic below in nursery). We bought a small plain white pillow for $3. I'm going to ask my mom to make me a cover for it to match our bedding. We also bought a set of alphabet cards that I'm thinking of using for wall art for $8 similar to that in the picture. The only problem with the card was there was a white blotch on the letter Y.
http://www.landofnod.com/landofnod/images/1701279_large.jpg
We just couldn't believe the deal we got on everything! We already got a crib and changing table from my cousin. We just need a dresser and glider. And here are pics of our nursery in progress. Please excuse the mess. We threw a lot of the stuff we got from my cousin in the room because we needed to make room in our guest room for my parents one night. So everything is not where it will be right now.
Okay, have to put the pics in te next post since I didn't realize we can only post 6 pics at a time.
Sorry this was the only before picture I found. I thought we took more but oh well. This is with the previous homeowner's stuff. For those who don't know, we moved into our house about a year ago.
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a214/mae_pasamba/DSCN4270.jpgAFTER
We plan to put the glider in the corner to the left.
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a214/mae_pasamba/DSCN4277.jpg
Here's the checkerboard wall we did behind the crib. Oh we still haven't bought any fitted sheets for the crib since we figured we could just register solid colored ones at BRU.
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a214/mae_pasamba/DSCN4276.jpg
DH did a great job with the floor. Notice our Bailey loves the new rug we got from the sale too. Actually both our beagles love the rug!
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a214/mae_pasamba/DSCN4274.jpg
Okay, here's the closet. We took off the doors to make the room bigger. Also with the changing table there we wouldn't be able to open the door anyway. So we plan to put a dresser in there. However, should we buy a cherry stained dresser to match the crib and changing table or would a white one be okay??? What do you girls think??? I'm hoping we can use white since we have much more options. Plus the crib and changing table don't really match either. The shades are off a little. Do you think having a white dresser would look bad or clash??
We plan to put cafe style curtains at the top of the closet to hide to top shelf and the closet door rails. We don't want to take them off because later we plan to put the doors back on. I also want to put the matching curtains over the existing shades on the windows in the room. My mom suggested we match the yellow we used. I was debating between the yellow or the green. I wanted either so I could reuse them in case we have a girl next time. What do you think?? Should I just go with yellow???
What else, we have touch up to do. Plus I have to figure out where to put the alphabet letters we bought. We're still debating on painting the toy chest too. I want to put up a shelf above the changing table too. And we plan to buy letters to spell out Miles. So we still have a bit more to do before it's done but at least the walls and floor are pretty much done. We're very happy with the way it has turned out so far. Now I can't wait to register and have our baby shower so we can complete the room.
Oh other big news for us is that my BF had her baby early this morning. Her son was born at 2:38AM. Going to the hospital after work to see them. She was 3.5 weeks early so I was happy to hear that they bot are healthy. She had a C-section though and that was after I think 18 hours of labor. This was her first kid and we're both excited that we're having our kids so close together and they both happen to be boys.
oh ladies, where do I even start? I been sick for the past 2 1/2 weeks!!
Had a cold for a whole week, it finally went away and then I got some nasty rash all over my legs, arms and part of my stomach. IT was very very ichy.
Doctor was puzzled and determined it was scabies. SO GROSS, I feelt so dirty, but the medication didn't clear it up, so it turned out not to be scabies. Somewhat of a relief...but still it was very ichy. I finally rubbed alcohol all over and by the next morning, the rash was dry and not itchy anymore. I have no idea what it could of been.
Now, this week I am sick again, sore throat, runny nose, you name it. This morning one of my ears is very itchy, I suspect the start of an ear infection. I am so bummed, I want to be healthy for this baby! :(
I am way behind, I need to go back and see what is going on with all of you.
hi to everyone!!
had a growth scan yesterday and everything looks good. both babies seem to be growing as they should be. my cervix is still long so i don't have to have any more length checks anymore! thank goodness, because those were starting to be quite uncomfortable.
baby B's kidney is still enlarged but it's the same size as it was so the doctors seem even less concerned. i think!
Hey everyone!
We were away for a long weekend, sorry I haven't been around. I can't believe that we are all hitting the halfway mark!!
I felt "the girl" move on Friday while laying down reading - Don even felt her. I don't think she like have the book resting on my belly. I didn't know what is was at first, but then her kicks got a lot harder!! Don thought it was neat, and he gave her a little lecture on treating mommy with respect and kicking isn't nice - it was very cute!!
Shower - My mom and I picked a date for my shower, it's going to be Dec 10. That is really the only date that will work because of the holidays and the fact that my dr. doesn't want me to do a lot of traveling after the new year. My mom is in AZ, as is the rest of my family and a lot of my friends so we plannned on holding the shower there.
My stepmom as also mentioned that she is thinking of hosting a shower for us out here in San Diego. Who knows about that, but for now we are on the calendar for Dec 10.
Nursery - We are going to get our paint on Friday and start working on the nursery this weekend. This morning I was thinking about how much stuff we have to do to get ready for the baby - she will be here in 4 months!! Not to mention, within those 4 months we have Thanksgiving and Christmas - after those holidays, it seems like there is no time at all!!
Names - We do have our name picked out, however that is the one thing we are keeping to ourselves. We weren't going to find out the gender, but since we did we are opting to keep the name a surprise, plus everyone seems to have opinions (good or bad) on names. I have been calling her Roxy and my mom has been calling her Pinkie. Butm I haven't really been calling her by the name we have chosen - it just feels wierd. :rolleyes:
I just got a call from the doctors office and I need to go back in for an additional ultrasound to get more measurements of the heart and kidneys to make sure they are functioning properly. With the way she was position, they apparently weren't able to get clear enough readings for the doctor.
I am a little nervous, and want to make sure everything is alright. But, on the other hand - we get to see our little one again! Hopefully we will get more pictures too!!
So, with that said - 2nd Ultrasound date: 10/19
I know I haven't been posting very much, but I have been trying to follow along when I get a chance.
We had our big u/s last Friday and if we know our anatomy right it looks like we're having a BOY! This is definitely a trend for us February mamas. I had my u/s pictures scanned in at Sam's Club but have yet to pick them up. Hopefully, I'll be able to post them on Monday.
marios_girlI LOVE your color blocks! How trading spaces and cool! How long did that take??
jennapeachYour SD reaction was priceless! That is so cool.
I don't have a lot going on baby wise (thankfully.)
Had my check up last week and everything seemed normal.My doctor did say that they recommend getting a flu shot- so I guess I'll do it. I also have to go on some iron supplements. Other than that got to hear the heart beat and the baby has been moving - which I love.
mario's girl I cannot believe you got such an amazing bargain on the bedding. That is unbelievable. I love what you guys did to the nursery.
bbethie congrats on the baby boy!!!
Just got back from our ultrasound. The baby was much more cooperative this time by far. We got to see everything we needed to see and we got to see the gender.
Add us to the loads of February moms having BOYS. He was showing us his goods a few separate times.
Everything looked great, the doctor couldn't find anymore blood clots with me either so things are really looking great now. It couldn't have been a better appointment. DH's face was all smiles when he heard the doctor say it was a boy.
Hubby and I have been to the Baby Depot inside Burlington Coat Factory. They do have quite a bit of baby stuff at decent prices which is nice. The only bad thing I have heard about them is that their return policy is horrible so I try to keep that in the back of my mind and only buy something I know I am going to keep. :)
Holy cow! We're counting down in weeks now! :eek:
Oh my gosh, AWESOME deals on the bedding! Wowser. You scored big time. Your nursery is going to look great. I love the cushion on the toy box idea. I may see if my mom can make one of those up for me. Looks great!
Holy Cow! I can't believe all these little boys!
DH and I were also impressed with the selection at Baby Depot. However, I think they're losing a lot of business because of their return policy. There's no way I will register there with those policies. Too bad.
I may have missed this conversation earlier but what sort of timeline do you guys have for showers? My aunt is throwing one for us and wants to have it next month. That seems early yet logical with the upcoming holidays. Now we just need to get our butts in gear and get registered!
That is why my mom is hosting my shower on Dec 10 - it's just before Christmas. Plus with my shower being in AZ, when I live in San Diego - it allows me to still travel since my dr. doesn't want me traveling to far from home after week 32 (which is Dec 31).
I think having a shower anytime in the 25-35 week range is alright. IMO. The earlier it is the more comfortable you will be!!
Shower - My family shower will be Nov. 12 because it's about the only time we can really do it with everyone's work schedules. I'll be almost 27 weeks, so I guess that's OK.
Roe - Thanks for the reminder. Burlington does have great baby stuf. But I agree that the return policy is awful.
Well...I convinced my Benny to go with the Room with A Zoo pattern from Babystyle.com for the nursery. Problem is Benny loves primary colors, and I just don't. He thinks it's not manly enough if we have a boy, but I disagree. There's blues and browns and orange in the pattern. And it's pretty gender neutral. Anyway...what do you guys think?
I LOVE IT!!! Then again....we are going with Room w/ A Zoo too!!
Just to let you know - I don't know if you have ordered it or not, but it is actually very bright. The pictures in the catalog and on the website are very muted in comparison to what it looks like IRL. There are bright oranges, greens, blue, yellow, red and brown in both the dots and the stripes.
It's funny, your DH thinks it's not manly enough, but for a while after we found out that we were having a girl I thought it wasn't girly enough!! haha.
I was originally drawn to the pattern on the website because of the neutral tones, but I called and asked if that is what it looks like or if the colors were off - the reason is because the catalog and websites weren't matching very well and it was the same picture.
If you would like, when I get home tonight, I can take a picture of it and that way you can see the true colors of the pattern...that is if you haven't already gotten it. Let me know!!
I am really looking forward to starting our nursery this weekend - I can't wait to start decorating it!!
Maybe you could just add mine to the count but not put it by my name or anything? I'm sure others could figure it out by the change, huh? Just please don't mention it in a post, just in case.
Good morning ladies!!
Well, we got our nursery painted this weekend and also got the crib put together and made up. We washed all the bed stuff and put it together as soon as the the last screw went into the crib.
I love our nursery - it has such cheery feeling. However, I am still in shock that we have a nursery, in our house for our child that we are expecting in February. I think it was a major reality check for me this weekend.
I also got the letters painted for little one's name, which I think we are going to wait closer to the due date to put them up since we are keeping the name a secret. All of the grandparents are begging us to share the name - they were lucky they got the gender.
All that is left for the most part, is getting the valance made and hanging up the art on the walls. We still need to weed through the closet and clear some of our clothes that we have been storing in there - but we have time.
Hope you all had a good weekend and your Monday is going alright!!
Take care -
Carisa
Good Morning Ladies!
I hope everyone's weekend was good! It sounds like everyone is getting to showers and baby room decorating. YIKES! Time flies.
We painted the baby's room this weekend. It is a bright, light blue and makes the room so much cheerier than it was (as a darker aqua color). We still need to touch up the molding and decide where the furniture is going to go, but I guess the most labor intensive stuff is done. The crib is still 5 weeks from arriving, so we will have to wait to finalize everything. I am hoping to let the room and mattress air out quite a bit before the baby gets here- after reading that article about baby mattress fumes and SIDS I am a little worried since we bought a foam mattress with California fire standards (read: more chemicals for flame retardance).
Carisa - YEAH on the baby girl! I still need to get the letters for the baby's name. Our family is the same way about the name. Constantly bugging us- AND YES at least we told them the sex of the baby! They should be happy! We still need to figure out what is going on the walls. We bought a mobile for above the changing table but that it about it in terms of decorations. You are way ahead of us! BTW- Cute bedding!
Lynnh- How funny that your DH is super curious about the baby's sex! I know that my DH would have forced it out of me- for us it was we both knew or not. Neither one of us has that much willpower though!
Kelly, and BBBethie- CONGRATs on the baby boys!
Meatpie- WOW! A shower already? We haven't even started to think about dates yet!
Mindy- I have been sick too. I got a darn cough with congestion, and am being stubborn about taking any medicine for it. Hopefully this is the only bug I will get this season (I can hope, right?) as it is not too bad.
Mariosgirl- Will you be my personal shopper? What a fantastic deal on the bedding! I LOVE that first set you posted! Do you know if that is still available in the stores?
I am sure I missed people, but hello to everyone, and Happy Monday!
LRL - I don't think my DH would even think of trying to figure it out, actually. I just want to cover all of my basis, just in case. You never know! He doesn't think I can keep it a secret from him. But, if he doesn't want to know, I'll make it so that it's impossible for him to find out!
LRL-Congrats on getting the nursery painted and the crib up. I wish I was you right now. We have yet to paint and we are even trying to get the room re-carpeted but that is such a hassle especially when you are dealing with money that doesn't exist :) Empire today has a nice 0% finance offer till Jan of 2007 so we might check them out....all I know is I have to get rid of the carpet thats in there now...its the ugliest shade of blue ever. I might have tried to make it work if we were having a boy but with a little girl on the way I am pretty much set on getting it changed.
I would love to say that other than that we are all set but to be honest we have nothing....no crib, no dresser, no nothing! All of a sudden I am getting really anxious and worried that the baby will be here before anything gets done...is anyone else having these fears?
meatpie & TheFuture- I love that bedding as well! Great choice. Post those nursery pics when you get some!
Kelly & BBBethie Congrats on your baby boys! SO exciting!
lynnh-Congrats on finding out the sex of your baby...even if we can't know its still so exciting!
meatpie I love that bedding! I think it would be great for a boy or a girl- actually I was thinking it was more boyish!
My shower is also on the 12th. My sister who is planning it has to fly in from North Carolina and she has the 11th off for Veterns day- so it worked out best for her. Plus I live in New England and once December- Janurary hit we not only have the holidays but snow worries! And my mom and sister both have to fly in. I'll be glad to have it earlier so then I can hit after Christmas sales for some of the stuff I don't receive. ;)
Mindyhope you feel better! You need to REST (and stop chopping wood! ;) )
TheFutureSo jealous of your room!!!! Sounds lovely! We've stripped the wallpaper and bought paint but that's about it. And still no room furniture.
Happy Monday everyone! Hope you are feeling well.
Thanks for all the congrats on our boy. It's slowly sinking in. I was really happy and a little surprised that we're having a boy. I keep thinking "what do I do with a boy?". Of course I know the logical answers but since I've only been a mother to a girl it seems very foreign. I have 3 younger brothers and I was almost 17 when my mom had my youngest so I know how to do boy stuff it's just strange to think about it.
We went crazy shopping, wait that wasn't me that was DH. He always tried to dress DD in boy clothing and now he actually gets to buy it and have a reason for it. He's such a girl when it comes to shopping.;) This kid already has quite the wardrobe and he's not even here yet. I think my mom and inlaws are equally excited that we're having a boy this time. I think they both are more excited this time too which I find odd but I'm glad they're all very excited.
We're having the great debate about doing a nursery right now. I personally don't want to set one up yet. It would mean we'd have to relocate the computer/computer desk/computer crap into our bedroom and I'd like to prolong that. Our office also doubles as a guest room and I just don't want to make that go away yet. I know that I'll want the baby in our room for quite a few months at night after he's born so what's the rush? DH on the other hand is super anxious to get started. The good news is that we painted this room blue a while ago so we won't be needing to paint. I'm all about getting thing organized and throwing away stuff we don't want/need but I just don't feel like we need to rush anything. Our DD still co-sleeps with us sometimes and her room was never even utlitized for the first 20 months of her life really.
ali...i can't believe your u/s was cancelled! you're handling it much better than i would! i would be like "get a new tech in there!"
cgriffin...i have the same fears as you! because we're still pretty nervous about these babies and we live in a 1-bedroom so there's no nursery, we haven't purchased/won't purchase anything yet!
we also won't be buying any furniture or anything...we're just converting one of our dressers into a changing table/dresser for the babies. it'll be tight for a bit!
that said, we did go to buy buy baby this weekend just to look around and see what was out that. that was overwhelming! i'm worried because the twins could come early and i know we'll need some stuff here for them, but i'm just not ready for anything else.
It's me again... I haven't posted in forever but things are finally easing up a bit here at work so I thought I'd drop by. I'm so excited because our big ultrasound is tomorrow! Finally!! Am I the last one of us to have this done?? It sure feels like it... I've been so anxious to see our little one again and to find out the gender, it's just been driving me nuts. That and my DH didn't want to do anything in terms of registering, setting up the nursery, picking out names, etc. until we got this u/s. I tried to tell him that there's lots you can do without knowing the gender yet, but he's been dragging his feet. So I'm waiting for this u/s tomorrow to make him realize there's really a baby on the way and hopefully kick his butt in gear! :D
Like some of you (but not all of you - those with nurseries already done or underway, I'm so jealous!) I've been suffering from fears lately that we won't have anything ready when the baby gets here. Somehow now that we're over halfway there and I can see the holiday rush approaching, I'm beginning to panic! Luckily I've had the bedding picked out for a while now (DH just didn't know I was looking around yet) so at least I have that decision done. It was fairly easy for me since I love cows so much. Here's the barnyard theme I'm going with:
Hey there, Chicas!
We had our second "big" ultrasound today to check Sweet Pea's growth and make sure she's tracking to my new due date (2/22/06). She's measured one week behind my LMP date consistenly from the beginning, so either my date was wrong or I o'ed a week late. Of course, as soon as we got to Cedar's the power went out. Nice! Luckily, the u/s equipment was on a backup generator, so we got to have the u/s anyway. Anyhow, she's measuring perfectly - got to see her for a long time, first with the u/s tech, then with the perinatologist, THEN with the peri's med student. She didn't kick into full show-off mode until the med student took a peek and then, it was showtime. We got some awesome looks at her face and her hands, playing around near her face. She was so darned cute. I've been walking on Cloud Nine since!
Friday, I had my regular OB appt. I'm up 2 lbs from my pre-pg weight and BP is a little elevated, but hovering where it has been throughout. I'm back in three weeks for my GD screening. I'm assuming my AFP came back ok, since I never heard anything about it. Did anyone else get word back if it was OK? Forgot to ask the OB about it. I also started taking a DHA (fatty acid) supplement. She didn't push it on me, but when I asked, she gave me some samples from Enfamil. It's supposed to help brain and eye development and thankfully, it's NOT made from fish, like the omega-3 supplements usually are (fish burps - blech).
We're starting to plan for the nursery/bedroom. We have the crib now. We'll probably look for a larger dresser for our master BR to replace my dresser - that will go in the girls' bedroom. I feel bad that we can't have all the furniture match each other, but I guess those are the breaks! My mom is going to plan/reorganize that bedroom closet, make a curtain to cover the opening (easier to deal with than sliding doors until the baby is a little older) and she's going to make matching bumpers for Sweet Pea's crib AND matching bedspreads for my SD's bunk beds. I'm glad they'll get something "new," along with all the new things that their baby sister will be getting.
Everything else is going good. I'm definitely noticing that it's getting harder to move around. I can't bend down as easily as before. At a restaurant last night - I had to have hubby help me up from the booth! :o How freaking embarassing! At the same time, I'm actually *liking* the way I look. I love seeing my belly getting bigger. I feel so glowy and womanly. Is that corny, or what? I can hardly believe that I'm over half-way there. :eek:
Hello there
So much has happened here since i last posted. I apoligize if i miss any s/o.
Kelly - It's so funny- i said the same thing about having a boy.....i told dh that if we have a boy i won't know what to do with him bc i don't know anything about little boys. I have 4 four nieces- i know girls.
nursey please please post pictures. Sounds like everyone is busy preparing their rooms. We moved to our house in April this year. Before we moved, I had the rom painted a creme color and a light green carpet put in (just in case). Rigth now, we just need to furnish the room. We plan to pick up the furniture in a few weeks from my SIL.
have a great day.
Bump to save us from page two.
I can't believe how many of you have your nurseries together! We haven't even started on ours! Luckily, we have some friends coming this weekend and I think K is going to help DH paint while S and I look at registry stuff.
Also, I know these are late, but I finally got around to uploading my u/s pictures.
The Future I registered for the Splish Splash mobile at Babystyle. It's not perfect but the colors are essentially the same and I'm only using the stripes and dots portion of the bedding meaning I didn't register for the animal pillows/bumper or anything like that - although I really like it I just doubt we will ever use it. Plus, I'm a CA girl and I love the ocean so it's fitting for us. I might change my mind - who knows!
Roe Funny - I would not know what to do with a girl!! I have a niece, but she's sooo girly and I'm not. We joke that we are having a girl and she'll become a ballerina because Benny and I are so sports-minded and athletic and we secretly dream of breeding baseball players and NFL placekickers!!!
Jenna - I totally get what you're saying. I hate it when people tell me I don't look pregnant. I find myself buying more snug-fitting maternity clothes so people can see my lil bump!! By the way - I found a cute maternity shop in Santa Monica called mom's the Word. Cute stuff for work and maybe a few really nice pieces.
Tina - I love your bedding!!
UPDATE ON US - Well the kid is in overdrive. Work me up last night kicking me. Told Benny to have a feel (he grabbed somewhere else, of course :rolleyes: ) and he asked me if I was tightening my stomach muscles. Like I have any left! Told him no that was the kid and he rolled over and went back to bed. Oh well!!!
Well... WE ARE MOVING! We found a great place closer to work so our commute will go from 30-40 to 10-15 max with no freeway! (Really great in LA) Only problem is the nursery is small and we want to keep a bed in the nursery. So I guess the question is - does the kid really need a changing table/dresser? I'll have to do some serious planning to maximize the space. It's an old Spanish house but someone enlarged the bathroom and put in a freestanding type closet in the spare bedroom when the HUGE tub took away the original closet. We move in less then two weeks and it's a good think I can still move around easily! So we'll be busy these next few weeks!! Anyway...that is our good news for the week!
Well, I think my cold is going away. Yeehaw! We are planning on going to BRU to register tomorrow night and I think I am way too excited about that. I never thought I'd be looking forward to spending 3 hours in BRU! I have a coupon for 15% off so I am hoping to be able to use that to buy a glider for the nursery.
Our nursery is coming along. We have the crib and a dresser that we'll be using for a changing table. Fortunately the room has 2 closets which hold a lot. Add in the dresser and hopefully we will have enough room for everything. We still have to get our glider, a toy box and my mom needs to sew the curtains, bumper and crib skirt. I can't wait to have it all together!
meatpie
Congratulations on moving! That sounds like a great change and I'm sure you will enjoy your commutes more than now. I am with you on the baby being busy. Some days, I wonder if the li'l munckin has slept at all!
WOW! Those pics are incredible! What a cutie!
I love to see nursery pics too. They are always so cute. I will definitely be posting mine once we get the room all together, but who knows when that will be!
LOL, I told hubby this weekend that pretty soon he was going to have to either roll me out of the car or heave my butt up out of the car. It is definitely getting more challenging! I'm glad your u/s went well. Sounds like you got quite a show. I love that and seeing their little personalities emerging already.
tinagirl
Good luck today at your u/s! Can't wait to hear how it went!
Hello to all other ladies I missed. I am so behind I don't think I can catch up at this point! Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday!
Cgriffin- Thanks. We move in little bitty steps though, and getting the room painted was a major step for us. DH and I both have classes 3 evenings out of the week, so our time together is pretty limited right now. We are just trying to get some things done by Jan 15 (3 months away!) so that I can rest my last month. You should check out carpet remnants for the baby's room if you haven't already. A lot of times these are really reduced. My MIL recarpeted DH's childhood bedroom with a remnant piece of really soft grey carpet- and she got a deal on it! Don't get too anxious- I have just always been a planner and have to account for time I know that I won't have! I am sure you will get everything done in plenty of time!
Loo- An early shower sounds great! You get to see and play with all the baby goodies for a couple of months that way, and definitely helps you to see what you will need earlier than most. You reminded me that we have Veterans Day off next months. Thank goodness. I LIVE for holidays!
Kelly- How cute that your DH went out to buy his son some BOY outfits! I went to the GAP as soon as I found out that we were having a boy, and looked at clothes. Of course all I have ever known in a family of girls is little pastel colored clothes. Little boys clothes have a lot of bright colors! SO CUTE! (I do hope we get to buy the pretty pastels at some point though!)
Angel- Don't worry about not having anything for the babies yet! My sister had a whole nursery set up for my niece. At 22 months, she has never slept in the nursery, nor used most of the things that they bought prior to her birth (except carseats). She is really low maintenance- I think if you have a basinette and carseats, you can probably make do without the rest until you can figure out what the babies really need.
Tinagirl- Please let us know what the baby is ! I saw that bedding at Babies R Us, and it is super cute! MIL was very attracted to it as she loves things like barns and tractors.
Jenna- Great job on the weight gain! That is fantastic. At my last appointment, I don't think the doctor was going to mention the AFP screen results unless I asked. I think she figures that if there is not bad news to report, then she wouldn't say anything. Everything went well though, so I guess maybe there was no bad news to report about the baby? How sweet of your mom to make your girls matching bedding! That is going to be super cute! I have seen quite a few nurserys without matching furniture, and it looks fine- in fact, I think it's the little extras that pulls it all together.
Roe- Count me in as another girl person having a boy! We might not know what to do with him, but he is going to be spoiled as anything from all his aunts husbands!
BBBethie- OH! Look at that beautiful face!!! It makes me melt! Is that a 3D ultrasound?
Meatpie- Another CA girl here, and I could not imagine not living by the ocean! Congrats on finding the closer apt!! That is awesome. I know how traffic can really make a HUGE difference in a commute. DH and I work in San Francisco, and live about 12 miles away from work. But, the commute can be anywhere from 20 minutes to 1 and half hours. Argh.
There is a thread in the parenting section about living with a baby in a small space- one of the ladies posted that she had changing stations around the house- that is, bunches of supplies in baskets. Maybe that will work for you? Plus, if you plan on getting something like a Pack N Play for the basinette, you can use the removable changing pad that comes with it?
Mindy- Have fun tonight at Babies R Us! We have our glider already, and that is SO comfortable! I recommend Dutailier gliders as they almost float when they glide!
Nothing much to report here. I have been having a pain under my belly. DH tells me that I jump up way too fast and run around and that now I need to get help. He was very amused at the last Dr's appnt when my doctor wanted to assist me getting up, and he said that I "refused" help. LOL. I didn't even notice. I guess I need to slow down. DH thinks I strained a muscle under my uterus- so now I don't feel comfortable getting out and getting exercise. Argh. There's always something! :rolleyes:
Bbbethie, cute pics!!
Meatpie, if you don't mind me asking, where are you moving to? Westside, valley, etc? We live near LAX and I commute to Santa Monica. The neighborhood isn't the greatest, but the commute is just too good for us to think about moving. We have space issues, too, with what will be 3 kids in one bedroom (yikes!), but LA real estate being what it is, we won't move for another couple of years. I'll have to check out Mom's the Word.
Mindy, it's already challenging to turn over in bed - I can't imagine what it'll be like in another 3 months. ;)
LRL, ok... seems like no news is good news. I'll have to check out that thread about living in small spaces - sounds like there are some good tips in there.
ETA: I'm also having pain in my lower belly. It's like a general low-grade achiness. I figured it was just my uterus stretching, but then DH pointed out that it's probably sore from all the ultrasound prodding. They were pressing down HARD for about 45 minutes. Plus, I notice the ache when I've been really active - doing a lot of walking, moving, shopping, lifting, etc. I think it's my body's way of telling me, "hey! Slow down!"
Mindy, LRL, Jennapeach Thanks for the kind words about our little boy. I'm still having a hard time believe THAT is actually inside of me. And to answer your question, yes that was a picture taken from the 4-D ultrasound. I know a lot of people pay extra to have that done but we're fortunate enough to have that as standard practice at our clinic.
Well, we had our ultrasound this morning and you can add me to the long list of ladies having a boy! :) I'm another one of you girl people having a boy - I have 3 sisters, no brothers, and lots of experience with my nieces (I have a nephew too but I missed out on most of his baby/toddler years). But I'm sure we'll figure it out and decide that boys are just as much fun, right? And they really are coming out with much better boy clothes than they used to have! My DH is soooo excited - he has all brothers in his family and is very excited about raising a little SF Giants fan! :D The best news, however, is that everything looks good with the baby. The only thing she couldn't get a good picture of was the face because he had his little hands in front of it - he's shy like his momma I guess! So she said we'll take a peek at him again next time - yay for a bonus ultrasound!
And now that I've missed more than half the day here at work, I guess I should go try to get something done before it's time to go home! Have a great day, ladies!
hello!!
Bbbethie - what great pics of the baby!!
meatpie - thanks for the info on the mobile. Is it necessary to have mobile above the crib - I think we are going to without it. Oh well. That's great about the move, I agree you are lucky that you can still move a bit. It would be tough move if you were further along.
tinagirl- CONGRATS on your boy!! I really can't believe how many boys there are in the Feb 06 moms!! CRAZY!!
LRL Hope your belly feels better soon!3
As for what is going on with us...
We have our second ultrasound tomorrow to check on Roxy's heart and kidneys. Hopefully she will cooperate and be positioned in a way they can get a good reading. Also, I hope we get more pics of her!! Can't wait to see her again!!
I took pics of our nursery this morning, it's not done completely yet. We still have to hang up artwork, but I will post what I have so you all can see it!
We are also in the middle of getting our backyard landscaped - they came in yesterday and demolished everything - it looks like a war zone back there. There is concrete piles everywhere!! Can't wait until that is done in a few weeks. It will be nice to have a beautiful backyard that we can sit and relax in with Roxy - we have been living in a pile of weeds and dead grass for 2½ years now!!
That's it from here! Hope you are all having a great day!!
So sorry I will get to shout outs later but I have been busy at work. Anyway, i really need to vent. So I had DH call his mom today to see about when she was thinking of throwing our shower, which she offered to host. Well, now she doesn't want to anymore. I'm just devastated. I thought it was perfect since majority of people will be from DH's family anyway. There may be at most 5 people from my family and that's a big if! So now I have no idea what to do. My 2 closest friends have children and I would never ask them in the first place, especially BF who just had a baby last week and one lives over an hour away. That's what I get for having more male friends than female. Plus I feel wrong having them pay for our families anyway. My mom can't really afford it and wouldn't feel comfortable about it anyway (Korean thing and just teh way she is). So now we're debating on hosting ourselves which makes me feel ill thinking out it. I'm in tears right now. I guess I won't be having a shower after all. MIL basically said she'd buy us everything instead but I don't think she realizes how much everything costs. Plus she shouldn't have to buy us everything. This just sucks!!!!
ETA: Found out that MIL didn't want to host shower because she doesn't think people will want to buy us anything since SIL's shower is next month. So basically she's saying that because SIL had an oopsies and is due 2 months before us we don't deserve a shower. Shouldn't it be the guests who decide if they want to buy us something. Ugh!
I would love to get a Dutailer but wowser, they are uber expensive! We’re going to look at them closer tonight. I know they are rated the best. I just have to get off of my wallet, I guess!
What are you taking classes for?
Yup, I agree with the lower abdominal pain. I was laughing last night and got a shooting pain in the muscle or what is left of it! I can’t imagine how stretched out those muscles are and are going to be. :eek:
Congrats on your baby BOY!
QOTD – Anyone have any birth dreams yet? I had my first one last weekend. It was super freaky! I was in some sort of commune for pg ladies. It was weird. I was on a gurney lying next to another pg lady on another gurney beside me. Even though she was a few weeks behind me, she was much larger. My oldest sister was there and wanted to take a walk so I went with her. As we were walking down this dirt path/road, I say, “Oh, wait, the baby just came out.” Um, alrighty! I reach down and the baby was right there in the crotch of my pants so I pick it up and put it up near my shoulder. My sister is starting to walk again so I tell her to wait and that I think the baby isn’t breathing yet. So I tap its little chest and it lets out this big breath and starts breathing just fine. I say, “Hi baby.” And that was the end of the dream! The freakiest part was that my niece was there and she was delivering a baby too, but she was only 14 yrs old in my dream! What the heck?!? Strangeness. Oh, and in the dream, I could only see the head and chest of the baby and it was very small, like 3 lbs-ish. No allusions as to the gender in the dream!
And that will be the last time I eat Japanese before I go to bed! :D
Jenna- It's comforting to know that others of us are having the same pains around the uterus. It makes me freak out less, you know? :)
Tinagirl26- Congrats on the little boy!!! I also have three sisters and no brothers! Weird!
Carisa- OH! New landscaping! That is going to be great! It sounds like you had a lot of concrete in your backyard- that's no good for a rambunctious little one, grass is better ;) And I LOVE the green walls! I could not convince my DH on any shade of green- Drats. I will have to show him how cute it looks! You are really getting that room together- you and the room both look great! I will have to post pictures when we get closer to getting ours done.
Mariosgirl- I am so sorry about your MIL not wanting to throw a shower anymore. Maybe you can register anyway, and then show her the list. She might get the hint? That really sucks about your SIL and the reason… Hmmm. I can't imagine that someone would not give you a gift anyway if you did not have a shower.
Lucy- How funny! You gave in! Now there are all sorts of cute little boy things to look at- Congrats!
Mindy- How did you do on the registry last night? I find the Dutailiers most comfortable, but there are also some great deals on other brands at B r Us. Shermag is supposed to be comparable in quality to Dutailier. DH and I are trying to finish our MBA's. I have been working on this darn degree for WAY too long, and now it might be a little longer with the baby. Luckily I only have a couple of classes left so the end is in sight!
Cgriffin- Isn't it fun to look at what other people have put together for their nurserys? The main nursery thread has been a huge source of inspiration to me. Some of the ladies that posted in there have beautiful rooms and great taste!
QOTD No weird dreams yet, but I have had enough trouble sleeping lately without them!
Hey ladies -
Thanks for the compliments on the nursery - I like it too!! ;) I just like to go in there and look around and imagine our little girl in there. It's all getting so real now. I think we are going to get the art up this weekend and start doing the finishing touches.
Our ultrasound went great - she wasn't positioned all that great so I had to keep switching from side to side to get a good look at her heart, but we eventually found after about a half hour.
We also got to see her yawning and sticking her tongue out - she is so cute!! She had her hand up over her head and we saw all of her fingers on her right hand!!
Oh, and the tech confirmed...she is definitely a SHE!! :D Also, based on the measurements she said I was measuring for a due date of Mar 1 - like it matters - give or take a few days!! Little Roxy will make her entrance when she is ready!!
The tech took the pics to the head radiologist and he said that everything looked great and that they would send a good report to our doctor!!
cgriffin My mom got the skirt at Motherhood - I think it was on clearance.
Well, I am off to the office - I so don't want to go to work...but we gots to pay the bills!!
Have a great day!!
LucyandRyan and tinagirl Congrats on your boys!
Carissa The nursery looks great. I really need to get ours going. I am sure that I would probably take trips into the room to imagine what Baby Bob will look like in it too.
I have been so busy at work that I have fallen way behind here.
Mariosgirl I am so sorry to hear about you MIL I hope that you guys get everything firgured out so you don't have to throw yourself a shower.
Lower Pain I have been having lower pain, but it seems like mine is different then what I have seen you guys talk about. I have sharp pain in the cervical area. It feels like it contracts. (or puffs air) I can't remember what my contractions were like with my daughter so I don't know if this is them. It happens mainly when I am standing for a long period of time. It is definately not consistant though. I hate calling the nurse at the doctors office, because she probably thinks that I have called to much already. I call about everything. I just don't wanna call about this, I am scared that they will send me to ER and it will just be nothing.
Tina - Congrats on the boy!
Jenna - No I don't mind. We are moving to BHills Adjacent from Brentwood. Our rent is increasing so much I can't even think about it but this is just temporary because we have no idea if we will stay in LA long enough to buy a house (if we could afford the downpayment in a decent neighborhood.) Anyway...we work in the Hancock Park/Miracle Mile area, so this will save sooooo much time!
LRL - Thanks for the ideas and for telling me about the thread for kids in small spaces!
Future - I LOVE YOUR NURSERY!!! The bedding looks really beautiful! I love the lil animals hanging on the side of the crib. And the ducks your grandpa made - priceless! Where did your mom get that cute skirt? Not to mention I love your boots...
Marios - I'm sorry about the shower. That is so inappropriate for her to offer and then pull the shower. I would ask your hus to talk to her. I don't have any advice at all about other possibilities. I would feel strange hosting my own shower and would not do it - but that's just me. I'm so sorry this is happening to you!
Lucy - Congrats on the boy as well!! I can't believe how many we are having!
Mindy/QOTD - No birth dreams for me.
LRL - Yep new landscaping...it's going to be so nice!! We actually don't have that much concrete, our patio was actually brick pavers that was set in concrete. So, we actually didn't really expect to see that much concrete after demo.
Glad you like the green - it feels so fresh. We were going to do blue and green and changed our mind last minute to do the two shades of green. Which I am very happy about!!
cgriffin - Glad the skirt was still available. She got if for me in the beginning of Sept. It's actually really comfy too!! As for the boots - Mervyn's!! ;) I know how you feel about things not fitting you, I am finally able to where all the clothes my mom got me...she took me on a shopping spree when I went out to visit her over Labor Day weekend and this week I can finally fit into everything!! It's like I have a whole new wardrobe!!
meatpie - Glad you like the nursery!! I love the bedding and the ducks!! I told my grandma that we are using them and she said that grandpa would be very happy to know that!! It just puts a smile on my face when I go in and see them in there!! What's really cool - is the furniture that we have in the bedroom is actually Don's furniture from when he was about 7 years old. We are using the desk under the window as our changing table and there is a 4 drawer dresser that we have moved into the closet!! I love being able to use all of OUR stuff for our little one!!
Mariosgirl- That is terrible about your MIL not wanting to throw a shower anymore. I would definitely register anyways.
Mindy/QOTD - I haven't had any birth or baby dreams. It's funny because Don is the one who has been having the dreams...he dreamt that we were having a little girl, with red curly hair. Well, he got the girl part right, we are going to have wait and see about the hair!!
You guys must be having an effect on me because I had my first birth dream last night. It was very odd. In my dream I slept through the entire labor. My mom tried telling me that it was 33 hours long but I did the math and found out that she lied to me. Then DH wasn't there for any of it and my mom wouldn't let him see the baby. I kept crying and screaming at her but she wouldn't let anybody see the baby, including me. Strange, huh?
On a brighter note, we did buy our first nursery item last night. We stopped by the JCPenney's Outlet with Baby Bargains in hand. I didn't excpect to find anything worth our time but we ended up walking out with this:
http://a581.g.akamai.net/7/581/175/2005100612/cache4.jcpenney.com/images/regular/0900631b80c43b43R.jpg
It sells for $249 + over $100 in shipping in the catalog. We walked out with it for $40! :eek: We don't have a cushion for it but for that price I can justify spending $100 on the cushion! They did have one more there at that price so if anybody is in northern Illinois, you may want to check it out. I can't tell you how excited we were to get a Dutailier glider for that price! :p
Bbbethie-That's awesome that you got the glider at such a great price! DH and I were at BRU last night to check out the cribs and gliders and I had such a hard time trying to pick one out. The crib we pretty much narrowed down but the gliders...there are so many and I want to take different features from each one and make my own!! If any of you have any suggestions can you please let me know....if you have specific model #s that would be great too.
bbbehtie Congrats on such an awesome bargain. Between you and Mario's girls. you guys are a great team!!!
I am going to have to see if we have a JC Penney outlet near me in NJ. I was looking at a friend's baby registry yesterday. The glider she is registering for is almost $500!!!! I don't know who would spend that much on a baby shower gift.
dreams I have not had any labor/baby dreams yet. But I have had weird dreams in general. ALso, I notice when i sleep my hand have been falling asleep. Last night, I woke up and both hands were asleep. Very bizarro!!
gotta go to JCpenny.com for outlet center. Where else do you find baby bargains?
Bbbethie
10-20-2005, 08:44 AM
cgriffin To be honest, we really didn't shop around very much. I saw that price and knew that it was too good of a deal to pass up. Plus the sleigh style was nice. DH used to make furniture so he is very picky when it comes to quality and he thought the glider was well built. I don't know the style number offhand but I can check the sticker when I get home. However, I do know that it was one of the sleigh styles.
roe I would've given anything to attend that Land of Nod sale but DH and I were vacationing in Mexico at the time...I know, life is tough. :rolleyes: Hopefully, there's a JCP outlet near you. If it requires a bit of a drive, perhaps you could call and ask if they have any nursery furniture in stock. Fortunately, we have one just a couple miles down the road, I literally pass by it every day on my way home from work. I couldn't believe what a jackpot we hit with that glider though.
I wish I knew where else to find those type of deals! I'm keeping my eyes peeled from now on!
Well, ladies, we registered last night! We got there around 7pm and we were done registering at 9:15pm. And we had also picked out a glider and ottoman. Woohoo! Of course, hubby got the scanner. We actually had fun doing it. I had a list prepared already of things we needed to put on there which helped a lot. I think hubby was getting a little scan happy at the end though. We were in the bath section and I wanted to put some toys on there. Well, I saw these squirtie things and told hubby they looked cool and maybe we should put them on there. He looks at me with this ornery grin and says, "Oh, I already registered for those." LOL, yeah, so I was wondering what else was on there that I didn't know about! Then, we were in the clothes section and I told him we needed to get a coat/snowsuit. I picked one up and said, "Something like this........" and BOOM, he scanned it! I was like, "But not this one!" Fortunately, BRU gives you a delete item bar code so that came in handy a few times.
When we were dong registering, I went up to the registry desk to hand in the scanner and she printed out our registry for us. Yeah, it's 7 freaking pages long! Wow. 72 items. I had no idea we had scanned that much in! It all definitely adds up! Anyway, this woman was sitting at the desk with her husband and her pg daughter. So she says to me, "When are you expecting your baby?" And I say, "February, February 20." Then she gets this shocked look on her face and says, "Oh!" I just nodded my head at her but thought that was odd. What was she so surprised about? That I was registering at 5 1/2 months along? I don't know. It was just weird!
Question for you all (oh, when do I not have a question?!?)- I was planning on getting the Avent Isis Manual breast pump, but when I got there, they also had the Avent Via Isis manual pump. I am trying to figure out the big difference which I think is that the Via lets you pump into disposable storage containers that can also double as a bottle whereas the Isis you pump into a regular bottle than have to transfer to a storage container if you are not going to use the milk soon. I was thinking the Via would be better for storage and such, but it has mixed reviews on BRU's website. So is the regular Isis better than the Via? I think the Via is newer because I don't remember seeing it in Baby Bargains (oh, and I think if I mentioned that book one more time last night, hubby was going to shove it you know where ). Was wondering if anyone here had a clue about that one! There are a couple threads over in Parenting about manual pumps but neither hit on the difference or review the Via very well yet. And I think that is because it is so new.
LRL
An MBA! That is awesome and a good degree to have. I can’t imagine being in grad school and pg at the same time to kudos to you! I had a hard enough time writing my thesis when I was 24, engaged, and carefree!
Registering went well! You are right, those Dutailers are so nice, but we ended up with a Jardine mostly because of the price. I know Baby Bargains rates them low, but the price difference is hard to overlook. The Dutailer was around $700 for both pieces and we got both Jardine pieces for $322. I hope we don’t regret it! We sat in every single chair and we both liked that one, so hopefully it’ll work.
That is such great news on you u/s report! :D Too funny about your hubby having the birth dreams! That is great.
If it makes you feel better, I occasionally get sharp shooting pains in the cervical area as well. They are very infrequent though and I haven’t had any for a while so I haven’t thought too much about them. Honestly, I think you will know if it isn’t right especially since you have already done this before. ;)
Bbbethie
Yes, that dream is weird! But I have a feeling they are all going to be so we should get ready for it. ;) Aahhhh, you got a Dutailer for $40?!? What a steal! That is awesome! I would be kicking you if you hadn't bought it. Seriously, the Dutailer we were looking at last night was about $700. You got the deal of the year. :)
Mindy I guess last night was the night for all the February mamas to be out shopping. I can't believe you got in and out in just over two hours. That must be a record! How did you come up with your list of items to register for? We know that has to be our next step. Do you mind sharing your list?
I'm telling ya...the store by us had another glider for that same price. If anybody wants to make a trip to Illinois, call and put it on hold. Or, I can pick it up for somebody. That price is too good to pass up.
Here is a question for everyone.....if there is anyone out there that is willing to share their registries I would love to see the different things that everyone is registering for. I know that many people may not be up for it because you have to be comfortable giving your name out but just wondering...
Bbbethie
cgriffin Good Idea! That is really funny that you asked that. I was wondering the same thing. I didn't really think about all the personal information that was on there. DH doesn't like the idea, but I feel like as long a I am not posting my info on the thread that it really should be no big deal. So if anyone is interested email me and I will email you back.
cgriffin
10-20-2005, 10:47 AM
Thanks michiganbride, I just e-mailed you and I also gave you my registry info.
If anyone else wants mine e-mail me as well and I would be happy to give you the info for it!
BBBethie- OMG! :eek: I had to pop in and tell you need to be a personal shopper! You and Mariosgirl are great shoppers. I wish we had some great outlets around here. You NEVER find those types of deals at our outlets!
Mindy- Goodness. Sometimes I think I am so lazy though because this degree is taking so long. Between working F/T, school, and prepping for the little one we have packed schedules!
Sounds like you guys were very productive last night! It is so much fun to register! I think I might have to go in and finalize some things soon. I have heard that there can sometimes be some discrepancy between the items scanned and updates you make on-line. They say that on-line updates sometimes don't update the store registries. Egh. You know, I encountered the same thing when my DH had the scanner gun… there were a lot of things in there that I didn't remember. :rolleyes: :)
On the breast pumps- maybe the ladies over in the Breastfeeding thread can answer that for you? I find that the reviews on baby things are SO much better here than on the store websites. I think I am going to be getting an electric pump- the Medela Pump in Style or the Ameda Purely Yours (first I have to check that my sister does not have one of these) since I plan to pump when I return to work.
Thank goodness we are nearing the end of the week. I am ready to take a nap here at my desk!
michiganbride
10-20-2005, 01:28 PM
Breast Pumps From what I learned with my DD, I will not use a manual pump. I absolutly hated it. I don't really plan on using a pump very often, but I will need to use it more when I return to work. I haven't used an electric pump, but I can only imagine how much better it will be. I had problem breastfeeding last time from the begining which caused me to have to pump all the time. I am hoping that don't have the same issues as I had with my DD, but this time I will be prepared.
Bbbethie How should I do a search? I went on the website and I found the chair, but I didn't find the great price. :rolleyes: My SIL lives in Elgin or near there, I was thinking maybe she could pick it up for us.
cgriffin I got your email, thanks. I sent you my info, hope it helps.:)
Don't have a lot of time to post right now but I will be back later when I get home from work. First, quick thanks for letting me vent in here about not having a baby shower. More insight about that later.
But BBBethie where is that outlet location??? I couldn't find it on the website. You can also email me at mae_pasamba@hotmail.com. Thanks! Since we're not having a baby shower I would love to buy a glider, especially at that price!!
Good idea, ladies, to share registries! I'll play too :) We think ours are complete..
Sorry I've been MIA lately - I've been super busy at work unfortunately - but that's good. I'd rather be busy than not.
Baby updates....
This kid moves constantly. He can kick so hard that if I have something on my lap that is touching my belly, it moves!!
I took command over the baby shower situation for my family/friends and my mom stole it from me! ARGH! Actually, it's a good thing because she's SUPER excited. I gave her a list and registry cards and she and my best friend are excluding me from everything else! I'm sooooooooo happy that they're doing it. They did my bridal shower and it was awesome so I'm looking forward to this.
Found out that I'm having a surprise shower - oops - DH slipped up and told me. Some of my coworkers from another program at work are throwing it for me - it's a small group but it should be fun.
Plus, I'm in charge of a shower for a guy at work - his wife is due in December with child #5 - but this boy will be their first biological child!! They never thought they could conceive so they adopted 4 beautiful kids - now they have one on the way.
We looked at furniture last night. It kills me how expensive baby furniture is. Jay almost choked when he saw the price of gliders! I need to find a JCP outlet store! :) I think we found our crib & combo unit - I'll see if I can find a picture online.
I think that's all for now - I need to get caught up on laundry..... yuck.
Can I see your registries too, even though I only have a few things on mine so far? Or is that cheating? We plan on registering by the end of the month but so far I only have some bedding and a few other random items on mine. It sure would help to see what you girls are doing too!
Let's see, I'm emailing aligirl, michiganbride, and cgriffin. Did I miss anyone?
Happy Friday!!!
Mario's girl - I was thinking of you last night and the whole shower situation. I told dh abotu it and he said "why doesn't her husband throw the shower?" Just a thought. Even though it's weird to throw your own shower, if all the guests know the circumstances, they may think it's very sweet of your dh to throw you a shower. I don't think the shower is all about the gifts anyway- I kind of think it's a celebration of your baby arriving. Good luck. I hope whatever happens works out.
So behind again!
Mario's girl So sorry to hear about the shower situation. :( Along the same lines as Roe's response, for my shower in Florida we are doing a Baby Party since DH will be there and my parents live about 1 hour north of my friends I didn't want them to have to come solo. Perhaps having party to celebrate the baby rather than a shower would work and even asking friends to help plan it. Good luck!
Registry I'll be email you girls and if anyone wants either PM me or email me at jordanm@cox.net. I have found so many things I would have never thought of by looking at friends registries and making them review mine. :)
Baby Update This little guy kicks contantly. But at least it makes me know everything is ok. DH finished painting the nursery and we got the room measured for carpet yesterday. Now if I could only stop questioning the paint color everything would be grand. I think I do this in every room though.
I haven't posted in awhile, mainly b/c I have nothing that new to report. I have been following along and congrats to everyone that has recently found out what they are having!!:D
I had my 24 wk dr appt today. Everything looks good, the little guy sounded good, I love hearing the HB. I can't believe I am already 24 wks, time is realy flying. I go back to the dr. again in 4 wks, and then after that every two weeks, yikes!!!
I hope everyone is enjoying their pregnancies, this being my 3rd we are pretty sure that this is our last so I am trying to enjoy every minute!!!!
Dreams I haven't had any birth dreams yet, but I know they are coming b/c with my last two pg I had them a lot, and all very strange. I have had only one dream so far about the baby, and it was pretty normal I was just holding him and it was wonderful.
I am such in baby mode my best friend had her 3rd little boy on wednesday and it was so wonderful holding him:p I was excited before about my little guy but not I am very excited, something about holding a new born, it's the best.
Well hope everyone had a wonderul day!!!!
I think 2.5 hours was pretty good! The lady at the desk said no one finishes in one trip, but we got it all on there. I have read Baby Bargains about 5 times and used a lot of their suggestions on items. I also looked up items on BRU's website and read the reviews. Those things are priceless. The first time I read the book, I just soaked in all of the information. Then, the second time I read it, I took notes which really helped. I am a bit of a geeky planner, so when we went to BRU, I had a preliminary list and my book in hand so that helped immensely. Here is the list I went into BRU with –
Oh no, don’t feel lazy at all! Getting your Master’s is a huge task. I feel your pain!
Yeah, I found a little stuffed octopus on our registry I had no idea registering for. Other than that, it wasn’t too bad. I was afraid I’d find all kinds of breast items on there!
michiganbride
Thanks for the input in the manual pump! Did you use an electric one then? If so, what kind and did you like it? I don’t see myself using a pump much either. I am going back to work 2 days a week and the baby will be with me so hopefully I will be able to feed directly. I would like it though for some occasional feedings so hubby can get up during the night as well and also have the bonding of being able to feed the baby. I’m hoping the manual will work for me!
I’m glad you are doing well. Yes, time is flying, isn’t it?
Happy Friday and hi to everyone!
If anyone is interested in seeing my registry, let me know. We have bought a ton of stuff already, so the registry is mainly to supplement the little things we will need, and make the moms feel like they can buy something for the baby. We really didn't want to wait until the last minute- it makes me so nervous because you never know how the end of the pregnancy can go. I think the only big item we don't have is the stroller.
Jenryan- I am on a three week appointment schedule now. It should stay that way for the next two months I think.
Jordan- I hear you! Paint is so hard to commit to- but I always am ok with whatever color after a little while because it is such a pain to tape and paint.
Ali- How great about your co-worker and their baby! hehe. Cute. I think you have a little soccer player too!
Yesterday was a little dramatic for me- We were at DH's parents house late last night, and as I was getting in the car I totally tripped (who the heck knows on what) and gashed my lip on my engagement ring. I was bleeding all over, and we had to go back inside to get cleaned up. DH didn't see all the blood because it was dark, and when we got inside I think he was about to pass out. LOL :rolleyes: Well, let's just say that now I know what lip collagen implants might feel like. I hope that this does not leave too big of a scar- I am thinking of putting away my wedding band and engagement ring in our safe deposit box in order to not cause myself or my rings more damage for the next couple of months. Sigh. Anyways- BE CAREFUL- and try not to be a clutz like me! :eek:
Hey everyone! I'm going home to see my sister, niece, and parents this weekend. They have not seen me since August so it will be fun for them now that I am really starting to look pregnant!!! I can't wait. We'll look at cribs and hopefully I can get my mom to buy me some clothes since we'll be broke with the move!!
I emailed a few people re: registries. This will really help me. I am convinced I have forgotten a ton of stuff!!
LRL - I am glad you are OK. I have been such a klutz as well. You are certainly NOT alone in this. But yes, be very careful!!! I'll e-mail you about the registry as well!!
Mindy - Thank you for sharing your list! It helps!!
Jen - Congrats on 24 weeks!!I don't have an appointment until Nov. 4 but I think after that I have one more 4 week appointment and then I'll be seen every two or three! Wow. Good thing we moved further away from our doctor, huh? :rolleyes:
Jordan - You've got mail!!! I've got a bit of a kicker myself in here. It's soooo great. I just love it. I told my mom how much this kid moves and apparently my brother was the same and my sister did not move at all. She said if she would have had my brother first and then my sister she would have been scared her entire pregnancy because my sister never made a move!! Funny how those things work out!
roe and mariosgirl - What a great idea wbout Mariosgirl's hus throwing the shower. I think that is perfectly wonderful. You should really think about doing it. This is a time to celebrate I completely agree!!!
aligirl - Nice to see you again around here!! So you have a kicker as well? Me too! And I do love it. I miss the kid when I haven't heard from her/him ina few hours! We are not doing a glider because I have Benny's grandmother's rocking chair - so hopefully that will work. Plus the room is too small for a glider but I agree they are soo much $$$$. How fun you have two showers to look forward to !!!
Have a great weekend. I can't wait to get home tonight!! Hope I didn't miss anyone!
I think we found our crib & combo unit - I'll see if I can find a picture online. Mario's Girl I know exactly what you mean. it's crazy on how much this stuff is!
Hey -
Wow - you ladies are crazy today with the posts...I can't keep up!!
Registries - We have a pretty good start on ours, however I am sure we are missing some stuff. When we started ours, the lady at BRU said to not include outfits until about a month prior to your shower as the clothing tends to get pulled with the seasons more than anything else.
I will probably email some of you this weekend, so I can sneak a peek at your registries! ;)
As for what's up with us...
Don and I went to see the musical Mamma Mia last night - IT WAS SOOOOO GOOD!! I was singing ABBA songs all night long! I even think "Roxy" liked it as I felt her moving all around during the show ;).
Tonight is our first baby class - Getting Ready for Baby. It's a 2 part class, one class this month and another next month. Then, next month we start our Childbirth Preparation classes.
Lucky me, I have traffic school this Sunday - YUCK!! I got pulled over for running a yellow light a few months ago, so I now have to pay the price, along with the admin fee of $345.00 that doesn't get cleared with going to traffic school!!! So, I am out a full day on Sunday and $345.00. Whatever!! :rolleyes:
I hope you all have a great weekend!!!
Happy Monday
Just got back from my doctor's appointment this morning. Everything looked good. I gained about 9lbs this month :eek: I told the dr that i am completely beside myself bc i don't feel as if I am consuming that much food and he said to be careful of fruits that are high is sugars bc they are healthy but can convert to fat. bla bla bla. We are getting a tradmill in a few weeks. I hope I will use it and it will help level off my MASSIVE weight gain. Next month is my glucose test. I am so nervous about that. I also asked the doctor for another u/s. He wrote it down for 32/34 week u/s and said he make a note that it's medically required to monitor the babby's growth. I love my doctor...:D Gotta do some work now :(
Hola!
Well, I spent Friday night/morning in the local ER. Sweet Pea is fine, but to make a very long story short, I thought I was having a heart attack (chest pain/tightening and shortness of breath), but was diagnosed with gallstones. So much for the trouble-free PG I thought I was having. They monitored Sweet Pea for a while - just to make sure she was ok, so I was totally relieved that she was fine. But, I spent 10 hours in the ER before getting an ultrasound to diagnose the gallstones. I will see my primary care physician today to discuss options. The only treatment for gallstones is surgery, since they don't go away and passing them is extremely painful and dangerous. My guess is they'll either want to operate within the next couple of week (before I enter the third trimester) or they'll want to wait it out and operate when/after Sweet Pea is born. Meanwhile, I'll have to control my diet closely - no fatty/fried foods. That will be a joy during the coming holidays, but what can ya do? So, to tally up: no salty foods to control BP, no fatty foods to control gallstone pain... I'm just praying I don't end up with GD, or I won't be able to have sugar, either. :rolleyes: I joke, but I'm just very relieved that everything is ok and I wasn't having a heart attack!
Not much else new; I spent the weekend resting and sleeping. Once I got home from the hospital on Saturday, I didn't leave the house. Sweet Pea has been kicking up a storm, though. :) I'm starting to be able to differentiate between her kicks and her punches. DH felt her slightly last night. He was jazzed about that.
OK - off to get ready for work!
Take care Jenna!!
Roe - Oh god. All I eat is fruit these days?!?!?!
Future - How was the class? I need to look into those and get us signed up ASAP!
QOTD - So is 24 weeks really the end of the second trimester? I'm so confused about this week/month thing. And everything has gone by so fast!
And where of where are all the belly shots for us ladies? I'd love to see everyone! We move on Saturday so I'll post some next week. I just still feel fat/thick and not pregnant. My bump is so not very cute!;)
i have an obgyn appt today and i'll get my first test for pre-term labor, which i'm happy about.
been going to the baby superstores to look at stuff. very overwhelming! i imagine we register for stuff but will have to buy a lot of it beforehand since we'll need it? i think we'll store everything at my parents' house before the babies are born.
Angelgirl, GREAT belly shots! You had your GB removed? Was it general or local anesthetic? I'm guessing general and I'm scared to be put under while PG. But, I have read that if they're going to remove it during PG, it's best to remove it during the 2nd tri, after the fundamental development is done, but before the uterus gets in the way of the GB. We'll see what the doctor says. I'm definitely drinking a ton of water! My coworker had his GB removed last year and told me to drink like a fishy.
meatpie, I'm so bad... I haven't taken ONE belly shot. :( I was planning to take some this past weekend, but I ended up sleeping the weekend away. Maybe I can get DH to take some tonight?
jenna...yup, removed last july! we were actually trying to get pregnant when i found out i had to have it removed and the doctors said if i was pregnant they would do it in the 2nd trimester which was the safest time. apparently, it's pretty common during pregnancy so they totally know how to deal with it!
i'm trying to think of what else helped me before the surgery...sometimes lying on my left side helped reduce pain during an attack. definitely eliminate all fatty foods and drink lots of water.
the surgery was done under general anesthesia and it was laparoscopic.
Mindy3094 I used an electric pump while in the hospital with my DD. I didn't take it home because I had my manual pump. I wasn't planning on using a pump at all, but you know how things can change. If I could of continued breastfeeding I would of bought an electric pump. I had to pump all the time, which was very difficult with a manual. If you plan to only pump once or twice a week, probably a electric wouldn't pay off. If you plan to pump once a day or more I would recommend a electric pump. Just my advice.
angelgirl8 Your belly is so cute!
Jenna I really hope that you don't have to wait until sweatpea is born. I would hate for you to go through the rest of the pg in pain.
We put up the crib this weekend and cleaned out the nursery. We had so much wedding stuff packed in there that it took us all day. I was so excited to put the crib up.....then realized I have nothing to put in it. No mattress, no bedding, no toys, nothing. So the crib is up and now I have to wait until my showers which are Dec 4 and Jan 8th to decorate. I might talk DH into going and buying the stuff to make up the nursery.
meatpie - I wish I could say the class was great - but, it was cancelled!! They didn't even notify anyone!! :mad: There was about 20 couples all standing around waiting and then at about 6:30, a security guard walks up and says, "You all here for the baby class? Well, it's been cancelled." That's it - nothing more!! I called the registration number and they didn't have a clue, the hospital had no clue - no one knew anything!! So frustrating!!
I will be back with our dr. appt update from this morning, I had a little bit of a scare, but everything is alright!! Right now I have to get to a meeting! Ugh - I hate work!! :rolleyes:
Be back later!!
Meatpie- It's nice to know that I am not alone in being a HUGE klutz! I swear I was not even like this as a teenager. I guess things could be worse- at least my lip looks a little better today.
On the third trimester.: Ok, so one of my books says that 25 weeks is the beginning of the 2nd trimester, and another one says that it is 27 weeks, and this is based on gestational age. I guess I will "transition" into the third trimester if no one can tell me when it starts. We're almost there!
Loo- that's what I think happened! I think the 9 surprises are all girls, and will even out all of our boys!
Carisa- OH! I loved Mamma Mia! I had no idea I knew that many Abba songs until that show. I ended up singing the songs all night when we saw it! It's one of those groups whose songs permeate your consciousness! Sorry to hear about the birth prep class. That has to be irritating waiting around for nothing! I also hope your traffic school went well (ok, as well as traffic school can go!) I can't believe they gave you a ticket for running a yellow light. Can you even do that? The cop must have not met his quota for tickets for the day yet.
Roe- YEAH! My doctor has to BS the ultrasound worksheet too. I have a feeling that my insurance would want to cover ZERO sonograms otherwise. I am also not looking forward to the GTT. I am going to take it next Saturday so that my doctor can have the results for my next appointment. I hope I pass- this really worries me!
Jenna- OH MY! I am glad there are no problems anywhere near your heart! I hear that gallstones are painful. I am sorry you are having problems with this! Hopefully they can operate and get rid of those nasty things without too much incidence.
Angel- I can't help but marvel at how cute your belly is! Such a perfect little round belly! Your DH must be so proud!
Michiganbride- What kind of manual pump did you use with your DD? How often did you pump? I am trying to figure out if I should borrow one of my sisters manual pumps for sticking in my bag on short outings.
But the crib is the important part of the nursery, right? Maybe your DH will see that the crib is lonely! I can't wait to get my crib!
Hello to everyone, and I hope your Monday is going smoothly!
michiganbride Yay for getting the crib set up!!! Ours doesn't arrive till the 26th of November and I can't wait... I was just thinking I should order the matteress soon so I can set it up. :)
TheFuture Hope everything is ok. Sorry to hear the class was cancelled, I can't believe they didn't contact you! :eek:
angelgirl8 Such a great belly shot!!! :)
meatpie Congrats on the move! How exciting. I'm with you on not having belly shots... although my friends are threatening to take pics when I am in Florida.
jennapeach OMG!!! I'm so sorry you have to go through this. I hope they can take care of this soon!
Roe Yay for the extra u/s. My doc did the same this for the 32ish week. I also had an extra one in the beginning b/c they couldn't find the heartbeat and the u/s tech told me she had to put "threatened pg" on the chart... glad she warned me.
LooLoo I was thinking the same thing about the surprises!
LRL I committed to the paint color... I just changed the bedding to match... worked out in my favor though... I got the bedding that I loved b/c DH doesn't want to paint again.
Baby's Room
I bought the Bedding this weekend and we went to order the carpet today. Should be installed by the end of the week! :)
jordan, CUTE bedding!
Can I just vent for a second? I'm calling the two hospitals that we're interested in to register for Lamaze/CB prep classes and they're both kind of giving me the runaround. :mad: Plus, we have to pay more if we aren't registered to have the baby at that hospital, but they won't give us maternity tours until January! So, how am I supposed to know which hospital I want to deliver at?!? I'm not waiting until January to take CB prep classes. Gah... so irritating! I finally got a call back from UCLA SaMo lat week, but they left a message 10 minutes long and I got too impatient to listen to the whole thing. :rolleyes: Why can't people do things normally, by email? ;)
Went to my primary care physician (well, his intern, actually). She doesn't think my episode on Friday was consistent with a GB attack, but ordered another abdominal U/S and surgical consultation *just in case.* There's definitely something weird going on with my GI tract. I've been fairly crampy (intestinal, not uterine) since eating lunch and just feeling kind of off. I dunno. Hopefully, we can resolve this sooner, rather than later.
I did ask for and get a flu shot, though. I was wondering where I was going to procure one, since my OB doesn't offer them. Thumbs up!
Ok, here is the drama from my dr. appt today...I will preface this with saying that everything is good and there is nothing wrong. I just didn't have a very good nurse practitioner.
First off, Don wasn't able to make this appt with me, he had a meeting scheduled at 9am this morning...which believe me he will never miss another appt again!!
I knew going into the appt that we were going to be seeing the CRNP down the hall from my doctor, since my dr. was not in the office today - figured why not, we are going to check the heartbeat and get measured...no big deal.
After all the routine stuff and the "everything seems good" the nurse opens up my folder and says... "looks like your second ultrasound was scheduled for you because there was issues with the babies heart blood flow and you might have a partial placenta previa" :eek:
I start getting a little nervous now, and then say, "I was told that we had the 2nd u/s ordered because they weren't able to get a look at the heart and kidneys - I wasn't told there was anything wrong." She looks at the file and then says, "No, everything is alright, but just let us know if you experience any bleeding so we can watch the placenta."
At this point, I wish Don were with me because all of the questions that I want to ask are just flying out of my head and I can't remember a thing. I then ask her to explain the placenta previa, as my husband will want to know details about it. She goes into Vanna mode and starts pointing at the diagram of the female reproductive organs on the wall - she then throws out the words...
"We just want to watch for bleeding so the baby doesn't bleed out, because then you would lose the baby."
:eek: :eek: :eek:
I can't believe she is seeing me for the first time, she is a CRNP and she is actually talking about me bleeding out and losing my child!! She is saying everything so matter of factly too!!
Well, needless to say, after the appt I walked straight down the hall to my dr's office and made my next appt and asked the receptionist to have my Dr. call me and explain what I was just told.
I basically came home and cried for a little while and tried to get a hold of Don, but couldn't because he was in his meeting...I didn't talk to him until about 11:00am!! I got to work, broke down in my coworkers office...all I can think about is bleeding out and losing the baby!! OMG!!! She reasured me that everything was going to be alright and to keep trying to get a hold of Don.
I finally get a hold of Don and while I am talking to him my Dr's. nurse called me (my Dr. was out today), so we called her back via conference call...what a relief she was to talk to!!! :) I love Sheree (that's my drs. nurse)
She explained that everything was fine with the baby and the 2nd u/s was done strictly because of the babies positioning during the first one and the the heart and kidneys are just fine. She also said that during the first u/s sound they brought up the possibility of partial placenta previa, but the 2nd u/s cleared that up and it was all based on babies postitioning.
We were also told that my triple screen test came back negative and everything is looking good.
She reassured us that our little one is growing right on schedule and everything is looking great!! She is also going to suggest to our dr. that we have a 3rd u/s at 30 weeks so I can be reassured about the placenta previa and that it can be ruled out - (which is exciting that we will get to see our Roxy girl again!!)
So, needless to say - the CRPN basically made me completely freakout this morning for no reason!! That's what happens when you read old test results!! That is the last time I will be going to anyone other than a doctor, not to mention going to an appt sans Don!!
That was my appt. drama today...[big sigh of relief]haaaaaaaaaa[/big sigh of relief].
With all that said - here is my new appt date: 11/22
Carisa - I'm so sorry the CRPN scared you like that. I'm not sure if you remember all my drama early on. I was bleeding heavily, like blood flowing down my legs with heavy pads on. I went in around 11 weeks and had an ultrasound at the perintologist office the day before the bleeding got toally out of control. We saw a small blood clot but baby was fine. The next morning I started bleeding like crazy. I went into my OB's office and she did a really quick exam just checking my cervix and told me I was miscarrying and asked me if I wanted surgery (D&C) or if I wanted to let nature take its course. I opted for nature but she then all of a sudden decided to say that we were going to confirm the miscarriage by ultrasound first. Got the ultrasound in at the dr. office and found a very alive baby inside doing really well. Needless to say I had been sitting in the exam room alone (DH was away on business) crying my eyes out because I was micarrying when the reality was the baby was still very much alive and healthy. I won't see that particular doctor in the practice anymore, I've made that completely clear with the other two, I never considered her my doctor anyway. It sucks that certain people in the medical field speak out of their butt before they have all the information or before they read all the information. I'm glad that your little girl is just fine. A partial placenta previa is scary but not nearly as big of a deal these days as you'd think. It basically means that your chances of a c-section are higher and you'll be watched closely and have more u/s's, there was no reason for her to alarm you the way she did.
I know there is more I want to respond to but it's 6am and my wonderful 2.5 y/o has been waking in the middle of the night and my allergies are kicking my butt since the weather is finally starting to change here.
I did have an appointment last Wednesday and got to see *my* doctor for the the first time this pregnancy. It was great and she got to see DD for the first time since she was about 7 months old. She was awesome and made DH feel very important as she always does. She includes him in all discussions and asks him questions and he LOVES it. The best news is that they downgraded my pregnancy from high-risk to low-risk! I have no more restrictions minus the normal pregnancy ones. My next appointment is November 17 and I'll be doing the GTT testing then (hopefully I'll get by the one hour one with no trouble this time, had to have the 3 hour test last time too but was fine) and then I believe I start going every 2 weeks. How crazy is that??
QOTD - This is more curiosity then anything. How many of you got TB tests done by your OB's/MW's because you're pregnant. I've had to have one done both pregnancies and I've never been in contact with TB (as far as I know). It seems to be a "standard" test here in NC or at least at my OB's office. If you have had the TB test could you let me know what state you're in?
Carisa Sorry about your scare.
QOTD I had a TB test done in June but that was work (I work with kids) not pg related.
Babys Room We are finishing the unfinished part of our basement which will become the study this weekend and then moving the study stuff downstairs and that will become the nursery. So we still have lots to do. We are using the Moonbeam bedding at Babies R Us by Koala Baby.
I have been so out of it lately, fighting a major battle with depression, 95% related to work. Anyone else miserable at work? I still have 4 months to go and it is a struggle to drag myself there every morning. It doesn't help that the weather has been all gray and rainy here.
Carisa I am sorry about your awful appt., but happy everything is okay.
Kelly Yeah, you not considered high risk anymore, that is great news.:D I am going for my GD test this week, my next appt is nov. 18th, and then every 2 wks also, I can't believe it.
edsbabyI have also really hated coming to work lately. I wasn't thrilled with my job before the preganancy and now I really hate coming here everyday. Unfortunately I will have to work after the baby is born but the person I work for is even giving me a hard time about taking 8 weeks off:mad: I am seroiusly considering finding a new job while on maternity leave. I noticed you also live in NoVa, so you know that the traffic is awful and it is really getting to me I would love to find something a little closer to home.
Hope everyone has a good day!!!!
