My dad is coming into town this weekend for Father's day. I'm really excited and my DH and I want to take him out for brunch to celebrate. He has a new girlfriend that lives in our town and he has invited her to come along (which we have no problem with - we like her! :))

The question is this - how do I tell my dad that we can only afford to treat him and not his girlfriend? Money is uber tight right now, and that extra $15-$18 does make a difference for us.

Thanks for your input!

What if you just made him brunch instead? You could spend $30-45 that you would pay for the three of you and have a nice meal for the four of you.

What a great idea! I think I will do that - it will give us an excuse to use our fancy dishes from the wedding :D

Excellent idea :). There are a ton of brunch recipes (including some you can make ahead) in the Cooking & Entertaining forum, if you need them.
