Has anyone done the sand ceremony thing at their wedding? Or planning on doing it? I've seen pictures online, and I was just wondering if it works as well as the pictures I've seen show.
Here's a link to the page I've seen:

I also really like the vases that they have used here.....I might order them. They're only $38!
Any advice or knowledge is grealty appreciated!

I've only seen it done outside, where unity candles wouldn't work because of the wind.

I forgot to mention that doing a sand ceremony is what we're thinking of doing because we're having an outside wedding, and in Nebraska, you never know what the wind situation will be.
I thought about doing a regular unity candle ceremony with hurricane glasses around the candles, but I thought this would be very unique.

We did a sand ceremony at our outdoor wedding and everyone loved it! The wording was essentially the same as what was in your link. We didn't have two different colors of sand, though. We each collected a small container of sand from our respective favorite beach. The sand looked identical, though - only we knew the significance behind it.

The containers you posted are cool. We just used two little pitchers for the individual containers of sand - the kind you would see oil and vinegar in on a salad bar. The container we poured it into was a cut crystal gazebo. I think it was actually a candy dish - the roof of the gazebo lifted off. That was significant because we were married in a gazebo. We have the gazebo with the sand in it displayed on top of the armoire in our bedroom, along with my silk bouquet and a wedding picture.

We did a sand ceremony as well.

The container we poured the sand into is actually a fancy decanter with a glass stopper. Since getting married, we have made it a point to bring back a small bit of sand from places we travel to, and we add it to the decanter. Someday, hopefully, we'll have a full container of sand that represents the places we've had the chance to experience during our lives together. :)

The containers we used for pouring the sand were just two glass "curved" stem vases from Ikea - they were each less than 5 bucks, but looked beautiful next to the decanter.

snowzilla ----Love those vases....very simple and elegant looking. I love the idea of bringing sand back from where you've been. I think that is a wonderful idea.

southhavenjen I think that the gazebo thing is cool too. While searching on the net for pics and whatnot of this ceremony, I noticed somewhere that is said something about always being able to see your unity, rather than blowing it out at the end of the wedding.

I think we're going to go ahead and do it....I can't wait to do something different. Not many people come out of their shells around here!

Thanks girls!

We did this too! I couldn't really find any really funky looking bottles to use, so I ended up getting some from Michaels. We used sand from the beach where we were. My preacher came up with her own version of the sand ceremony and it was beautiful! She ended up having it printed and framed for us.

These weren't my shoes, but it shows the bottle after the ceremony.

I think that they only bad thing about the bottles in the link I posted is that there is no stopper to put in it.....I guess we'll have to risk it spilling for the rest of our lives if I order them.....
I do like the idea of using the sand from where you are too. One thing I do like about the black and white sand is that you can see how it mixes.
