I wonder if that loud-mouthed guy who wore the fur coat last season will audition again this season? What the heck was his name? He also auditioned for American Idol during their last audition rounds. Too bad for him, he couldn't dance or sing! :p

Ian Benardo. I have a clip of him on my myspace...I love him! BTW, I doubt he will audition again, lol.
I did read via SYTYCD's myspace that the guy who dressed like a woman audtioned again.

Wow, some of those people were BAD. Oh, and Dancin' Derrick?! WTF?
Anya & Pasha were great. I was reading over on TWOP and someone had further info about them (I guess they dance competitively under different names):
They have an extensive competitive history - Pavel Kovalev and Anna Garnis (http://www.dancesportinfo.net/displayCouple.aspx?coupleId=7492). Usually in the top 5 in the U.S. Russian (of course!). Actually quite a compelling backstory on Pasha recently - he was very ill (they had to pull out of the Ohio Star Ball as broadcast on America's Ballroom Challenge) and hospitalized for some time.
Faina (sister of Stas) was also good.
I can't believe that Jamal got through instead of Enoch! I thought Enoch was way better. Jamal was wearing so many layers of baggy clothes that I couldn't tell what he was even doing!

Anya and Pasha were amazing.
I wasn't that impressed by Jamal and E-knock, maybe it was just me. Jamal especially, because he was almost out of control and obviously doesn't have any technical ability or anything. But they didn't air anything from the choreography audition, so maybe that was where E-knock messed up.
Something is wrong with that Sex guy, he is just not in touch with reality. And after last season, he has hundreds of girlfriends? :p His mom was no help either. "He can achieve any dream he wants" is a bunch of crap and something you should have grown out of long ago by the time you hit adulthood.

I loved this show last season, but have a hard time with the audition episodes. Making fun of mentally ill people is not my idea of a good time. Mentally ill is what I believe people like "Sex" are, so it seems cruel to make fun of them.
Scooter
05-26-2007, 12:16 AM
Making fun of mentally ill people is not my idea of a good time. This is true of most reality shows, really. I can't think of a reality show that hasn't profited from the added drama or entertainment of contestants who are emotionally unstable or otherwise not mentally healthy (to try putting it kindly). And you're right, it does bother me. Sometimes more than others. I was waiting for Nigel to turn around to the cheering crowd and tell them they oughta be ashamed of themselves for encouraging Sex's performance. But he aimed his criticism at Sex's mom, instead.

I really didn't like his mom. No they can't stop his dream, but his dream doesn't have to be fufilled on that show. It's a show lady, about the best dancers. I'm all about encouraging your kid, but not to the point where they make fools of themselves.

Oh and the blinking hicupping couple was so much fun. I got a kick out of them too.
I was a little pissed off at the judges last night though - I thought they were overly harsh on EJ (the chunky lyrical dancer). EJ seemed sincere, obviously had some training, and could do some real moves (hello - the jump into the splits anyone?) and the judges lit into him for being a joke and fat and dancing like a woman. Totally uncalled for Nigel! And then later when that GoldenRod moron comes in, they let him through to the choreography round. WTF?
Best of the night: That popper guy that got Shane Sparks all excited. He was really really amazing.
Oh - and it was great to see Benji but I didn't think his sister was as good as Heidi.

I didn't even notice she had a fake arm. When the judges mentioned it I was wondering what they were even talking about!
I was a little pissed off at the judges last night though - I thought they were overly harsh on EJ (the chunky lyrical dancer). EJ seemed sincere, obviously had some training, and could do some real moves (hello - the jump into the splits anyone?) Yes, I was aggrevated as well. Why was the weight even brought up!? (The one hiphop girl, her last name was Gomez or something, was obviously a LOT larger than this kid and she got through to Vegas no mention of weight!) This kid wasn't the best but he definitely had some training and I believe if he shaped up a bit and continued with training he would be pretty good and would have a better chance. I was amazed that he was able to do that side straddle jump (is that what its called!?)
Oh - and it was great to see Benji but I didn't think his sister was as good as Heidi. Yeah, I wasn't impressed with her at all.
The girl in high school at the beginning of the show in the brown outfit- WOW I wish I had her legs! Was this the girl with the long blonde hair and they kept playing Avril's Girlfriend song? She was pretty good and reminded me of last year's Allison. She also said Allison was her fav. last year.
I really miss ALLISON!!! (not to be a stalker, but I looked up her myspace page last night....it appears a LOT of the people from last season and even possibly this season (Benji's sister and Hak) are friends IRL.

Actually, what really steamed me up was that there WAS a mention of her weight, in my opinion. When they invited that Gomez gal to Vegas, I heard Nigel say "you are an inspiration." Ummm...why would she be an inspiration? Because of her WEIGHT, perhaps?!?! So this gal is an inspiration because of her weight, but E. J. should be ashamed for trying impressive dance moves despite his girth. Uh...
That was the first time I've ever truly been pissed at the judges. My jaw was hanging open at the things EJ could do. Despite his size, he had an impressively strong back, legs, even toes! Yeah, I admit that his choreography was a bit on the delicate, feminine side, especially for a man with some circumfrence, but heck - he still dished it out!

Yeah, Shane Spark's remarks that her type was someone who was overweight and couldn't dance. Uhh...ok.
I think that everyone who shows up for auditions gets put in front of the judges no matter what. They don't have anywhere near the magnitude that AI gets so when people who obviously shouldn't be auditioning audition they get annoyed. I do think that some of the weight comments shouldn't be said....Look at Mia (lyrical choreo./judge). She isn't a skinny minnie but can definitely dance.

I loved the clogger kid and the robot kid. Everyone else was kinda "meh". I mean, you can only see so many athletic girls jumping and writhing around in contemporary before they all start looking the same. I guess the same is true of the breakdancers.
The robot kid was so cute - I was touched by his whole demeanor and attitude and I think the judges were as well. I hope he takes Shane up on the movie offer.

Sometimes people kinda ask for the hard truth, but that woman was truly clueless and sad.
Firstly, I do not think it's appropriate for the judges to comment on the weight of the people (I'm sure they all know they are overweight) but I really think they were trying to give this girl a reality check, just based on what Niegel was saying about her paying $1400 to go to some Dancecamp where agents were present. I honestly don't think he liked seeing her ripped of by people "in the business" (so to speak).
I totally missed the clogger:(
Loved the guy with spinabifita (sp?) that Shane wanted to get a part in a movie. He was really a good entertainer (I hate saying that, since the judges overuse the phrase but he truely was a great entertainer).
That cowboy cracked me up and Mary makes me laugh when she gets going.
I thought that x football player was good in his audition and I'm glad he got through...I couldn't tell the difference between him and many other dancers who were "great" in the judges eyes. I like how he's a little more muscular too..adds a different look to dance I think. But I wonder (and I've wondered this with AI too) when they have interviews with family/friends at home etc., during the audition show, does it lead you to believe they will make it further?? I remember they had an interview with Carrie U. on AI on her audition episode and I was like "huh?", I don't know, it just doesn't really make sense unless they do go further...there is no way the producers just go do an "at home interview" after one audition, right?

I thought that x football player was good in his audition and I'm glad he got through.. I don't think he should of gotten through. His moves were very amateur. I do think he was good for only 8 mos. training but not good enough for the show. He should have just been told to come back next year. I do not think he will get far if he even makes it to the top 20.

I wonder this too but it seems that all the interviews are "sob stories" (I hope that doesn't sound sarcastic). "I was in an accident" "My dad doesn't support/approve of me" "My mom is sick, I'm doing this for her".

I always find it interesting when they show the 18 year old kids who say they will be missing grad and prom and stuff for this. Why? I don't get it? I think graduating with your friends that you've been going to school with for 5 plus years is so much more important than trying to get on a tv show. I don't understand why they put off such a memorable time in their lives when they can just try out next year??

Dancing is a way of life for some. When people say they live and breath dance they aren't kidding. Dance to them is almost an alternative to college (if they do not go to a traditional college to study dance). I am sure they are looking at it as a way to jump start their career...not just a tv show.

Yah but that one girl sounded like she would be very upset that she missed grad if she didnt get through past Vegas. Didnt she say something like "this better be worth it, because I'll be mising graduation". To me, that sounds like she would really regret it if she doesnt make it past the first rounds in Vegas.

Yeah, she seemed like she would be upset but ultimately she needs to realize that there is a huge chance she will miss and if she does she has to be comfortable with that decision. Hopefully she won't regret it in the future.

Oh c'mon - I believe full extension is a lay term - I don't know what it was properly called. :p
So she was wearing those little black hot pants and doing contemporary... (yes, that narrows it down!) Here's a fouette (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppcGxFkZDD4), and so she did a couple rounds of those, but on the last one she pulled the instep of her foot in with her hand, raised her hand overhead, and straightened her leg, all in the matter of a second or so, and then continued finishing another turn and a half. It was just an incredible move, and the way she executed it was flawless - great to watch.

When she did that move, it reminded of something you might see a figure skater do. Very impressive.
Hello Kitty
06-02-2007, 06:37 AM
Nah, a fouette's just a turn, not a type of pirouette. Usually, when you're going to start doing a round of fouette's though, without doing anything beforehand, you do a pirouette as preparation. It's hard to start into them just dry, which is on clips like youtube, the pirouette comes first - you get your body doing the turning motion and then go into them.
I didn't think of that as a figure skating type of move - good point. Still impressive!

I haven't seen that girl who was told she could come back this year... I figure if she were back they would have done a story about her (like a recap).
Benji's sister was there last night but I don't recall which group she was in. I believe she made it through to tonight.
I did not see the girl who got hurt last year though.
What in the world was that guy who did "swing" with e-knock (or whatever) thinking? He called that dancing for his life? I actually really liked him. I just really can't remember his name!!
Yeah, he really messed up last night but it wasn't like he was going to get through anyways. I think he just lucked out and kind of got to Vegas under the radar.

So far I am not really liking anyone that they are showing. What in the world was up with the skanoid looking girl in the suitcase? I am so tired of these people dancing in nasty clothes and street shoes (her nasty sweat pants and fugly uggs). Get some real dance shoes and look professional!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SOOO glad that the "football player" did not get through..he sucked.
Does anyone know if that blonde who said Allison (from last year) was her fav got through? They kept playing Avril's "Girlfriend" song when showing her during her auditions.
I do not like the editing this year. They feature all these people in the beginning and then kind of ignore them throughout Vegas.

I wish they would have made this a two hour show because I felt like I wasn't getting to see enough of anyone and I kept wondering about people we'd seen in previous episodes who didn't show up here. Are they cut? Did we just not see them?
I agree- I would have liked to have seen more of the choregraphed dances, even if the songs repeated... And when Faina (hope I spelled that right) was having so much trouble with the contemporary dance, I don't remember them mentioning at all that it was Stanislav's sister/cousin (can't remember which). That would have helped to put it in context for me. Also wondering about the girl who liked Allison so much and missed her graduation to be there....

I think there was ANOTHER girl who missed her graduation..not the blonde who liked allison. The girl who missed her graduation had dark brown hair and auditioned in Atlanta (or where ever they were during the repeat hour last night). She was also the first girl from last night that they said she was a baby because she JUST turned 18. The blonde who liked Allison auditioned a few cities back.

I am also glad that the couple who did that swing-ish routinue got the boot. Thats all they could do and honestly, it wasn't that great. I think it was so entertaining is because not a lot of people do that type of dance so its rare to see. When she did her solos is was just boring and she was just kind of standing there moving her feet.

I thought last night's show just went too fast. I would have really liked to have seen more of their own choreographed dances. I don't think this has been discussed here before, but I was reading on TWOP and supposedly one of the people still in contention this season is Danny Tidwell. He's the "adopted" brother of Travis Wall from last season (and my male fave last season!). From TWOP:
Danny was in the corps of ABT. One more thing about Danny, he is not Travis' brother by blood, Denise Wall took him in and treated him as a son, but I don't think there was a formal adoption involved.

SPOILERS!!
Do not read the information below (in white) if you do not want major spoilers. This is information on who does and does not make the Top 20. Sources are TWOP, SurvivorSucks and IdolForums.
One current list of top 20 dancers:
Anya, Pasha, Danny, Hok, Lacey, D'Trix, Jaimie, Sophia
A second list of Top 20 dancers from another source:
Guys: Danny, Hok, Jesus, D-Trix, Kameron, Neil, Pasha
Girls: Lacey, Anya, Faina, Jaimie, Lauren (like 99% sure on her)
Other potential spoilers:
- There seem to be some folks that believe Lacey did not make the top 20. Seems unlikely that this is true.
- There are rumors that Sophia Aguiar made the top twenty. She apparently was a dancer for Beyonce and K-Fed (let's not hold that against her). She seems to have a strong hip-hop and dance team background, as well.
- Someone on the Sucks board said they heard rumors Morgan (one of the female lyrical dancers, she was the one who was the big Allison fan) doesn't get through to the top 20.
- Others who supposedly do not make it: Olivia, Brandon (the clogger), Phillip (the popper)
- There's a lot of speculation that Rickey Palomino DOES make it.
Looking forward to the show tonight to see how much of this is true!

I was bummed that Caitlin was cut. I liked her.
The judges are full of it when they say that there's no favoritism/ preferential treatment. Out of 20 finalists, two are related to last year's finalists and one has actually worked for the show.

The editing this year really sucked. They featured some people and never touched on them again.
I felt the same way, I kept thinking I must have missed a part because suddenly a bunch of people they'd profiled were no longer there.
I think the reason they kept some questionable ones and sent more talented ones home was explained very briefly--they want to make sure they have a variety of different styles and genres represented. Otherwise they'd keep all the ballroom, lyrical, and ballet dancers and send all the b-boys home. And since they've tended to do that on the first 2 seasons, I think they're trying to keep it more balanced this time 'round.
I'm just glad they stopped showing that accident that one girl was in. The one where the dance floor fell at the wedding? :( It was horrible, knowing how many of those people died, and just before it fell one guy holding an infant walked by the camera. So sad and haunting. :(

It was so fun to see Season 2 dancers in the audience tonight! I wish they'd cut to Travis when Danny was dancing, though.
There are a lot of good dancers this year! I liked most of the performances tonight and had a really hard time deciding who I would want to go.
Jaimie/Hok- I'm a little neutral on these two. The routine was fine, not great. I think they're both capable of better and just didn't care for Shane Sparks' choreography and the fact that it didn't allow Hok to really show his moves.
Anya/Danny- I really like them both as dancers and I liked their routine as well. I hope these two stay around. I called in some votes for them, if only so Danny will stay around long enough to do a routine where he isn't just supporting Anya and can really bust loose.
Lacey/Kameron- I was prepared to hate them (well-- her), but they were really great-- probably the best routine of the night. Major props to Mia Michaels. Once again, she gives dancers something amazing to work with. Reminded me a tiny bit of her "Why" choreography from last season (my favorite!).
Sabra/Dominick- I like them both, especially Dominick who has so much personality and really connects with an audience. I hope they stay around, too.
Ashley/Ricky- The worst of the night for me. These two don't look right together and have no chemistry. Too bad-- I thought Ricky was awesome in auditions. They could go home tomorrow.
Sara/Jesus- I like them, but I found the routine so odd that I was watching the costumes and mannerisms more than the dancing.
Jessi/Pasha- Pasha is great. I wish Jessi didn't bug me SO much and I wish Nigel would stop fawning over her, already.
Faina/Cedric- This was the other weak link of the night for me. The choreography was fun, but they were kind of boring in it. Particularly Faina.
Lauren/Neil- Okay, I think these two will be the "are they hooking up?" couple of this season, like Allison/Ivan last season. They're adorable together. The routine was definitely above average, but I think they can do better. Oh, and speaking of Allison, I thought it was a little ridiculous to say that Lauren is as good as her. Allison is a WAY better technical dancer than Lauren-- she could dance rings around her.
Shauna/Jimmy- I never like the Broadway performances. I guess this was alright. I think they're better dancers than this routine would have you believe. We'll see.
Best: Lacey & Kameron
Worst: Ashley & Ricky

Wow, I just watched the Lacey/Kameron routine again on DVR and I was just blown away. Mia is a goddess - she does my fav. routines. I also really liked the choreography in Wade Robson's dance. It was so quick but watching it again there were some great nuances that I missed the first time - I don't think the two dancers quite "hit" everything in it but they were still good.
Faina was definitely not feeling that hip-hop routine. I wasn't all that wild about Shane Sparks' choreography last night and I normally enjoy his routines a lot.
Poor Rickey and Ashley - what an awful pairing. I think they would both do better given other partners.
Sabra and Dominick - I felt like he was having trouble with the lifts here - glad he wasn't paired with Ashley - he would have crumpled!! (This was the disco routine, right?)
Nigel seriously needs to stop thinking with his loins on Jessi. The routine was fine but she bugs.

I also enjoyed Wade's routinue. I've always liked him since he had his show on MTV several years back.

Im not usually a person to watch this show, but I am a major Dancing with the Stars fan, and I think this is a natural progression for me.
Except for the fact that I am not much of a "comtemporary" dance fan, I think I can appretiate almost any style of dance. But I guess that I will buck the trend here and say that my absolute favorite routine was that of Sara/Jesus, the Wade Robson (sp?) piece. Now that was original!! I thought it was so creative and hella sharp. Sara was on point, and was so in character. Jesus could have been better. But I think that I just loved the combination of that track with the dance, awesome. :) My next favorite was the duo dancing to "Ease on down the road". But that could just be because I loved The Wiz. The ones who did the ballroom dancing (waltz, tango, and rumba or samba) were just so/so to me. I could take them or leave them.

I just find it weird that certain people were paired together. If I remember correctly, these partners remain until people start getting voted off. Now, I also find it weird that certain people got to do a genre of dance that they already knew/had experience in (russian ballroom). I am wondering if that is a move on the producers part to try to keep certain people in the competition longer?
Also, is anyone else getting annoyed with the one girl who keeps bitching about her "computer" job. She already got under my skin but this is just icing on the cake. She should feel fortunate enough that she has/had a job. Yeah, she might be a great dancer and all but come on. She said she was an event planner. I don't see anything boring about that!

I think they keep the same partners as long as neither is voted off--until near the end when they rotate--that's whay Benji and his cousin (Heid?) finally got to dance together last season.

06-14-2007, 02:13 PM
If they are doing it like last season, and I remember correctly, I believe that from 20 dancers down to 10, they keep the same partner unless their partner is voted off. If your partner is voted off, then for example, the remaining male half of that couple is then paired with the remaining female half of the other couple. (I remember Dimitry kept loosing his female partners last year). Then from 10 to the finale, they draw a new partner each week.
I really enjoyed Danny & Anya, Lacey & Kameron and Sara & Jesus. I like Ricky as a dancer but think he is in trouble Ashlee as a partner. Jessi totally bugs me, ever since she rubbed body oil all over herself.

Yes they did! It totally reminded me of Michael Jackson. I was upset about Ricky as well. I thought the breaker (Dominic???) had the worst solo. He did the same move pretty much the entire time. I thought it was a bad call. I would have liked to see more of Ashlee, though.

I am definitely upset about Rickey being sent home last night and for some reason, since his partner was also sent home (deservedly), his elimination reeks of sabotage to me.
It was nice seeing Benji but I could have lived without knowing the answer to the "boxers or briefs" question ;)
Also interesting: both eliminated dancers were proclaimed by Mia to be her favorites. Coincidence?

Not so upset with Ashley or Ricky being eliminated. Though I was pretty sure they would eliminate Dominic after his solo. I mean, was it enough for the judges that all he did as spin on his head the entire time? But I think they did warn him about that (ie doing the same tricks and it getting boring), so I'm hoping he took the hint. Also, I think they chose Dom to stay because, IMO, he will be the more versitile dancer of the two. I think they may have based some of their decision on the fact that he did a pretty darned good dance yesterday, and had good chemistry with his partner. Both of those are no's with Ricky.
As for Ashley? She didn't do anything for me. And based on her not so great performance Wednesday, and her also not great dance last night, she was the one to go home.

I agree that Ashlee should have gone home. I was disappointed in her - she was amazing in the try-outs, but all she did in her solo last night was "emote" and not really dance her heart out. I was shocked that Dominic got to stay after a solo where all he did was spin on his head. I thought Ricky's solo was much better than Dominic's.

Boy--I thought that opening number was HOT--Wade was on fire this week!
I didn't want Dominic to leave because he's from here and seems like a sweet guy, but he should have been the one to go--he's fantastic, but limited. I am having a hard time picturing him being abe to do ballroom, for example--but maybe he'll surprise us!
Mia must be miffed. ;->

Ashlee was the right girl to send home last night, she did not seem to try very hard in her solo. I was shocked that Ricky went home. I thought he could have done well with a different partner. Dominic is awesome at what he does, but he will probably struggle in other types of dance.

DH and I were shocked that Ricky went home last night. Dominic is going to be a trainwreck when it comes to ballroom. Totally a TV ratings decision and not a dancing decision, IMO. Poor Ashley is just too tall for a female dancer. She looked almost as tall as Cat in some of the shots.
Can I say how happy I am to have this show back? Between this and Big Love, summer is my best TV time of the year. :D

I was shocked that Ricky went home as well. After thinking about it I think the judges let him go because he sucked at ballroom and a majority of the show has ballroom routines. He was a great contemporary but you need more than that. On that note, I am not impressed with Benji AT ALL. I really think Travis should have won last year. Benji's routine last night was god awful. All he did was jump around the stage. I am assuming he is not doing the Celine Dion show in Vegas? He has a great outgoing personality but I am tired of what he does.

I was not a fan of Ashlee's so I didn't care that she went home last night. She was way too stiff in her solo last night and did nothing for me. I sure hope they don't dance like that in heaven. I'd have to point and laugh at the other angels ;)

I was just able to watch the performance and elimination shows over the weekend on DVR. I too am very disappointed that Ricky was the one to go. I really felt like he had much more potential than the other two and was dying to see him do a Mia routine. :( Definitely feel like the judges made the right call on sending Ashley home though.
Can I just say that the I had serious isses with some of the clothing choices for Thursday's show? :p First of all, WTH was Mary Murphy thinking with that shirt? The big black floppy bow at the collar was bad all by itself. But paired with the fact that the shirt was straining at the buttons to the point that you could see it made it ten times worse. Blech! Secondly...I DID NOT need to see Benji's all-American-boy flag underwear!! OMG, I literally shrieked when he pulled that move and did you notice that nobody uttered a word about it on the show afterwards?? I'm wondering how people found it offensive? I know I did. And third, that hideous pink outfit that Ashley had on! Long sleeves, high collar..was she going for the Catholic schoolgirl look or something? I thought it looked prim and prissy and way too proper looking for a dancer. Just yucky.
I know, I said to my DH, "Ashley should get eliminated for wearing an apron!"

I think that for performances, it is chosen for them. But for the elimination shows, they wear what they are comfortable in, just in case they have to dance for their lives. I noticed that all of the contemporary and lyrical dancers, for instance, wore loose clothing and had bare feet, which is something that I associate with that style of dance.

Thoughts on tonight's performances:
Neil/Lauren- I disagree with the judges, I didn't like this at all. Was that even hip hop?! The movement was too fluid, I thought. I didn't think they got it at all. I'm perplexed as to why the judges were raving.
Pasha/Jessi- Interesting choreography and they did a really good job with it. Also, the chemistry between them is great and I think it enhanced this dance a lot.
Hok/Jaimie-I thought she was pretty great but I didn't like him quite as much. Overall, pretty good, though.
Dominic/Sabra- One of my favorites of the night. Really cool choreography and such good partnering work! They are both really lovely dancers and I like them both more and more.
Cedric/Faina- Eh... not so great. She's good, but she has no chemistry with Cedric. And poor Cedric is awesome at the breaking but not so good at other stuff.
Kameron/Lacey- I really liked it. It was fun, they showed personality, it was playful. Not as amazing as last week, but definitely good.
Danny/Anya- Loooooved it. Loved it. My favorite of the night. Normally waltzes bore me to tears, but this was just gorgeous. They were so fluid and had so much extension and grace. Danny is an incredible dancer!
Jimmy/Shauna- Eh. It was fine, not wonderful for me. Better than they did last week, but I wouldn't be suprised to see them in the bottom three.
Jesus/Sara- I really liked Jesus, but thought Sara was a little too stiff and would have liked to see greater extension. Cute routine, but I agree with Mia that the music was super distracting.
Favorite: Danny & Anya
Least Favorite: Cedric & Faina or Neil & Lauren

Favorites of the Night
Pasha/Jessi - Jazz bird thing. Hot!! And Mary was right - Pasha is the perfect partner. This combo is working well because he's the strength for partnering and Jessi has the grace and uniqueness. Definitely one of the pairs to beat.
Danny & Anya - Their Viennese waltz was gorgeous. Is it a coincidence that the 2 best pairs (IMO) are comprised of the Pasha/Anya combo that we saw such fire from in the auditions. They're not just great dancers together.
Bottom 3 Prediction
Cedric & Faina - Until Faina can unload Cedric the Albatross, I think she'll perpetually be B3 (see Heidi & Ryan from last year) Cedric is adorable but this competition is all wrong for him.
Jimmy/Shauna - I don't think this couple has enough of a fanbase to last much longer. I always forget about them.
Kameron/Lacey - Wasn't good enough.

I hated hated the music for Jesus/Sara. It was so overhelming that I missed half of their performance bitching to DH about the music. Jesus was amazing though. I did not think he would do such a good job.
My favorite for the night was Danny & Anya. That waltz was just beautiful and I agree that Danny is an amazing dancer. I do wonder how he will do at hip-hop.
Bottom three:
Cedric/Faina - Cedric is a nice guy but he has to go. He looked so stiff
Hok/Jaimie- I love Hok but I don't think he can make it in this competition. His lack of training really showed last night
Neil/Lauren - I didn't love them or hate them. They were just eh.

Best of the night was definitely Danny and Anya. It was just a gorgeous dance! Close beyond was Sabra and Dominic - he poured his heart into that dance. I also wasn't a fan of the music for the Paso Doble, but I think Jesus did do a really good job. Worst was definitely Cedric and Faina. I think Cedric will go tonight for the guys and Shauna for the girls.

Danny is irresistable--he is GORGEOUS! Seriosuly, when he dances, I can't take my eyes off of him! They are clearly the best couple, IMO, although I worry about her doing hip hop!
~Wasn't feeling Shauna at all--she's like a HS halftime performer out there. And that hair? She looked like Carrie Underwood trying to channel an AKA.

I adore Danny. His lines are amazing and ITA with Mia about his hands. He's definitely my favorite dancer. DH even called in to vote for him last night, though that was after a couple glasses of wine. ;) Faina, OTOH, is like nails on a chalkboard to me. She's technically proficient enough but something about her bugs the crap out of me. I hope she goes home soon.

Hmm, who do I think will go home tonight???
Cedric - he was just awful last night, and I think America and the judges just realized that, even though he is a nice guy and great at Hip Hop, he will suck at everything else.
Shauna or Sara- I think both are currently holding their partners back (Shauna more than Sara though)

I don't think that the dances from last night were as exciting or dynamic as they were last week. I just wasn't feeling like any of them really blew me away. I enjoyed the jazz and the contemporary but I thought last week's were better.
Faina bugs me but so did Heidi at first last season and then I ended up loving her. Hopefully it will be the same for Faina.
I was really happy to hear Mary Murphy describe the difficult steps that Danny and Anya did. I would never have known that a reverse turn thingy was really hard unless she said so. I know nothing about ballroom dancing so it's hard for me to judge degree of difficulty on something like that.

I loved Faina in the auditions, but once the actual competition started, she got so... tight-lipped. She was always making this pursed face and seemed so unhappy.
Her solo tonight was terrible. So was Jessie's, but Jessie is growing on me. You could tell Jessie knew it wasn't great, too. Even Faina's song choice grated on me... Now That I Can Dance? Right.
I'm so glad Pasha stayed. Pasha and Jessie and Neil & Lauren are up there as some of my faves, but my all-time favorite couple? Lacey and Kameron. It must be a family thing because I was madly in love with Benji of last season.
Speaking of the Lacey/Benji connection, is anyone else really surprised at how many family members there have been between the two seasons?

So glad Pasha didn't get sent home... He kind of bugged me until last night, but last night he completely won me over. I *loved* their routine, and the way he moved was just incredible. Then there were a couple of points where the way he was touching Jessie was just... hot. I was so surprised, because up until then, he had annoyed me to no end.

Add me to the list of those who are ticked that Cedric is staying AGAIN!!! Nigel's favoritism is so transparent. He likes Jessie so she got to stay over Faina who I think is really good but was saddled with a terrible partner. If she had gotten a better partner, I think she would have opened up more and the audience/viewers would have liked her more.
Nigel also annoyed me when he dissed Pasha's solo. I thought he did pretty well for a partner dancer having to show his skills alone. But then again, it was absolutely ridiculous that he and Jessie were in the B3 to begin with. Then there were a couple of points where the way he was touching Jessie was just... hot. Oh yeah! I loved the part where he "fell" on top of her. I was like "ME NEXT! ME NEXT! ME NEXT!! Pasha's already surpassed Dimitri's level of hotness and is approaching that of The Sexy.

Ok, this is by far my fav. show ever but its really starting to piss me off. Nigel is getting on my nerves. He flat out said "do we want talent or uniqueness"? I thought this was a talent-type show. Not uniqueness. If it was about being unique bring back the kid who had the back problems who did his robot type dance. He would have sucked at everything else, but HEY! HE IS UNIQUE! Load of crap.
Sorry but I really don't even think his unique way of dancing is that great. All he does is dance on his ankles and it looks like his feet are breaking. Maybe good for street dancing but for a competition it sucks.
I believe Faina was good in the audtions but was brought down terribly by her partner. You could see it in her face. She sucked at hiphop last week and was great this week whereas her partner sucked both weeks and he got to stay? Whatev.
I am also really sick of the way partners are stuck with eachother. Who cares about chemistry. Let others get the opportunity to dance with someone else who may give them tips/pointers. I know chemistry is important but I don't think its that important where people get sent home because they are brought down by their partners. This isn't a f*cking dating show.

I'm with everyone else....Cedric needs to go! And Danny is a great dancer. I thought his cocky attitude was gonna work on my nerves, but not so. His dancing speaks volumes.

ITA. I say he can be as cocky as he wants if he keeps dancing like that.
I felt bad for Cedric because I think that even he knows that he shouldn't be there. Poor Shauna (not really a big fan of hers but her dance for her life was really impressive) just got an automatic ticket to the bottom 3 next week. At least with Jimmy she might have had a chance if they would have drawn contemporary or something closer to their genres.

I agree. I want to write the show a letter asking about their reasoning for the constant partners. It doesn't make sense!
BTW, I have to comment on your name. Littlebear was my indian princesses name!

SO PISSED that Jimmy went home! Judges are on CRACK, I tell ya!
I think Faina was pretty pissed that she was sent home. She thinks she's all that and a bag of chips. I wasn't sad to see her go, I've liked Shauna all along, and I really loved her and Jimmy in Ease On Down. So now, Shauna will be paired with Cedric? What do you want to bet they both go home next week?

FYI: I went back and checked and Cedric is the dancer that the judges said was going to screw up any partner he had. He's the one that made Nigel apologize to the female dancers in advance. Guess they were right.

I'm SHOCKED that they sent Jimmy, such a beautifully talented dancer, over Cedric. I was pissed last week that they sent Ricky home, too.
I'm just gonna start calling Cedric "Ced-jaya". ;)

Wow, can't believe that one girl might get cut if her breathing issues don't improve.
I knew I saw that woman somewhere else before. The woman who stepped in (Bette Midler look alike) was on What Not To Wear.

Wow, tonight had some pretty amazing performances - they really have a talented group this year!
ETA: And I am glad that Pasha's dance with the sub was one that he was strong in already - I cannot imagine having to switch partners like that at the very last minute especially dealing with two very different body types and just two different partners!

Me too. He did very well and then he was so lucky to be dancing with Melody Lapatin a U.S. pro dance champion. I remember watching her and Tony dance on the ballroom dance championships and I'd be in awe at their fabness!

Tonight seemed like a big step up from last week. Has anyone ever seen Balanchine's Bugaku? Wade Robson's hummingbird piece tonight seemed to draw heavily from it. Awesome routine. Wade is quickly becoming my favorite choreographer on the show.
Also, Debbie Allen as guest judge sees like a huge score for the show. There are so few household names in dance. Great to see one of them here.

I was so pleased to see Debbie Allen. I LOVE her and have been a big fan of her since I was like 5 back when I was in dancing school. She's a phenomenal choreographer and dancer.

Well, I'll be the lone dissenter and say that I did not like the hummingbird dance. It did nothing for me. Overall, most of the routines were just meh to me. The only ones I really liked were the rumba and cha-cha.
I really hope Pasha isn't in the B3. He was so cute standing all by himself in front of the judges and there at the end. That must have been really hard.
now, i can finally say i have some faves. i just love sabra. i think she is so beautiful and such a graceful dancer. how could you not love pasha? mmmmmm....
i thought the top two dances of the night were the rhumba and the hummingbird dance.
i thought cedric was humble when he said he agreed with the judges assessment of his dances, but i did think that he and the judges went on for too long. that's great that he will be able to train at the debbie alan school.
Wow, can't believe that one girl might get cut if her breathing issues don't improve.
actually, i think it is more than just breathing. they think something is wrong with her heart. they can't have someone on the show who can't physically keep up. it would be a huge liability for them.
eta - if pasha's partner was on what not to wear, then i don't think she took their advice very well.

I have a serious crush on Pasha. I called and voted 10 times last night, and I've never voted on one of these shows ever.
I also felt the need to hit Jesus with a few votes. I was afraid people would forget about him since he went first. That krumping routine was much better than the one that they had on last year.
I'm disappointed that Mia couldn't come up with a better idea than to make Cedric go sit in the corner while Shauna danced. Shauna impressed me again, but she'll be in the bottom three because of Cedric.
I hope that Pasha doesn't end up paired with Shauna. I don't think they will do well together.
It's a lot harder this year to pick the 3 worst routines. I will say that I'm totally over Neil and Lauren. Sabra and Anya are my favorite girls.

I liked the humingbird routine but I do have to say that I am getting tired of incorporating breaking into everything Hok does. It seems like an easy card to play.
Cedric sitting off to the side with his dramatic crying was pitiful. I was really disappointed with Mia's routine this week. It was very boring.

Yes I completely understand. I guess I mainly said what I said was because it came as such a shock that she was not on the show, for me at least. One min. you see her practicing and the next in an ambulance. I feel bad for her but I definitely did not like her.

I think the judges should have addressed the Jessie situtation right off the bat. If you were paying attention to the intro when the all danced, Jessie wasn't there, so I think it sucked that they waited until the very end of the show to talk about it. That said, Pasha totally rocked. I can only imagine how difficult it was to have to get a new partner at the very last minute, one who has a totally different body shape than Jessie too. I hope he stays.
Hummingbird routine was pretty cool. Loved Sabra and Dominick's rumba. Thought Lacey and Kameron did one of the better quick steps I've seen on this show. Was not feeling Lauren and Neil's tango at all and didn't like how Mia had Cedric just doing theatrics instead of dancing. I would say Cedric is the given to go for the guys, but these judges have done some wacky things the past two weeks, so who knows!

Honestly, I didn't notice that she wasn't there in the beginning. I would say thats not good on her part. Towards the middle of the 2nd half I was beginning to forget who still had to dance. Not sure if it is because they were not memorable or there are too many people right now.

I'm really impressed with DOminic. I think he's really proved himself as a talented dancer, considering he's a b-boy with (I think) no formal dance training. He's pciking things up really well...and he's funny and I like him.
Sabra is easily my favourite girl dancer so far...although Shauna's solo dance last week was pretty amazing, and I really can't wait to see her with a better partner.
If Jessie goes, and Cedric goes then Shauna and Pasha will dance together and that will be a great pairing. Actually was kind of wondering about Jessie last week because her solo dance was so weak, maybe her heart thing was bothering her then too and that's why she didnt go all out.
The humingbird routine was pretty cool, but again like last week....where exactly was the Jazz in that?? These are pretty loose interpretations of Jazz. I know Debbie allen mentioned something about the fact that Jazz can take on a lot of elements of other dance styles, but I kind of felt like that was a break-dancy contemporary distant thought of jazz.
Oh and one last thing, Danny...great dancer but I just cannot get over his cockiness. It's too much, I want to like him but I can't he just annoys me.

So is Jessie dancing for her life for sure? Will there then be 4 girls dancing, I was confused about what Nigel said.
yes, the way i understood it is jessie has dance for her life no matter how pasha does.

I would think it would be pointless to dance for her life. The judges decide who goes home. If they know her test results are bad and are going to kick her off anyways why waste a solo dance?
