To get the benefits of DHA, we want to start taking fish oil supplements. We bought a bottle of salmon oil softgels and I made DH take them first to see if they would cause a fishy tasting occurance after taking them. Sure enough he just called to say that it is not terrible, but they are repeating on him. Anyone know if there is a way to get the benefits of fish oil without actually tasting anything related to fish? Oh, I don't like eating fish that is why I wanted to take the supplements

I buy the Omega-3 Oderless supplements at Trader Joe's. It definitely has less of a fish taste than other supplements.

I recommend Nordic Naturals brand. I take their Omega-3 supplement. Their products have a nice lemon flavor and zero burp-back. HTH. :)

A few things....

1. Take them at night, right before bed.
2. Freeze them; supposedly this will keep them from being digested until they're further along in your digestive tract and you won't get the aftertaste.
3. Take another oil: borage, flaxseed, or DHA by itself (still might be fish).

I do 1 and 3, and have no aftertaste. Good luck!

I take it by the tablespoon full. Carlson is the brand I use, which I get either at Whole Foods or the vitamin store I frequent.

(like the fish oil margarita?)

Sometimes I take it straight off the spoon and wash it down with something cool (it tastes like a sweet lemon, so it isn't bad) or I add it in to smoothies and then I don't taste it at all. I don't burp it up so no problems there.

I told myself that I would take better care of myself this year and well, we always here so much about the importance of fish oil. Any new info or brands out there to share? I like the idea of freezing them if that makes a difference-easy change, assuming I'd remember to take them

I actually stayed with the Carlson brand but switched to Cod Liver Oil because of the vitamin D factor. I don't get a whole lot of daylight here in the NW, especially during the winter and I need the D as well. I take 4-5 tablets a day.
