Just heard ABC is picking up the Geico cavemen and turning it in to a show....although the commercials were somewhat funny in the beginning, I don't see a whole show. Would you watch?

I absolutely LOVE those commercials and would probably watch at least the first few episodes just to see what they've done with it. I have to say I was a bit surprised though that they were turning it into a show!
eta: My husband said it's already a no-go! He said the pilot was so bad that it never even hit television and that the critics didn't even finish watching it! I haven't found anything on that (but, then again, I haven't looked, either! :o )

No way. The commercials are annoying.
I don't think the commercials are funny at all. I wouldn't watch the show.

At their best, the commercials were what I'd classify as "mildly amusing".
If the pilot does make it to air, I'd probably TiVo it, just for the "huh?" factor. I could foresee it being one of those cult hits like Cop Rock and, would like to say I knew what the hype was about.

I'm not a fan, but DH loves them and is excited to see the show. I like the gecko better too.

My attitude about the show is like that toward a car wreck: I really have no true interest in seeing it, but out of curiousity's sake, I might have to take a look . . . :o

Exactly the same for me. I don't think I could watch more than one episode though!

That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Although I find the commercials annoying and I change the channel if one comes on. Apparently people like them.

The show has been picked up for the fall season. I haven't done so myself, but you can watch a preview of the show at tvguide.com (http://video.tvguide.com/Shows/Cavemen).

Ugh. Because it is a rainy Saturday and I am bored, I watched the trailer. Terrible, terrible, terrible.
And why do so many sit-com writers persist in using Sir Mix-A-Lot's Baby Got Back as a joke? Okay, so I laughed -- what three years ago? -- when Rachel and Ross sang it to little baby Emma, but enough already. Recycled jokes make me change the channel.

Here's a link from Advertising Age about ABC's new dramas ---including Cavemen.
http://adage.com/upfront07/article?article_id=116700
Cavemen" will air at 8 p.m. on Tuesdays, a night ABC is building around the results portion of its hit reality show "Dancing with the Stars." ABC's entertainment president, Steve McPherson, speaking at a press conference for the media and network affiliates this morning, said "Cavemen" was such a strong project that the creative team from the marketer's ad agency, the Martin Agency, were able to stay on board. Much as they do in the commercials they pitch for, the cavemen will confront issues of race in America and look at how they try to fit into the world -- humorously, of course.

DH told me this the other day and I thought he was just kidding around! No, I won't watch it, I have to wash my toe hair.
I actually really like the commercials, but I can't see myself watching a TV show. It just sounds ridiculous.

I like the commercials (though I do prefer the gecko) and I just watched the preview on tvguide.com... I most definitely will not be watching this... *shudder*

I love the commercials. My favorite is when he sees the poster in the airport. I just like the music really. But I think I would check it out.

Although I find the commericals pretty funny, I will not be watching the show.

Another NO to the show...talk about unoriginal. The creators of this tv show figure that the success of their commercial(s) and characters brings them a built-in audience? No way.
Success in one arena does not translate to success in the other.

That is the dumbest concept I ever heard -- and a waste of money to boot. No I won't be watching this show.

I don't know what's worse...that someone actually thought to write this as a tv show, or that ABC picked it up.
I will NOT be watching this waste of tv space!

I heard a while back that they were thinking of making the commercial concept into a full blown show. I thought they had to be joking. Those commercials were slightly amusing at best (I agree with May27JnJ about the airport one). The fact that they are really trying to create a pilot from a commercial is crazy. It's like they are asking for bad ratings. Gimic tends to work nicely for 15 second commercial slots, but I think they will see how they failed when they try to extend the humor and it doesn't work.
Meanwhile, I think I will skip the show and just watch the clips online for the "drive by accident" factor. I'll at least be able to say that it completely suck by my own observation.

I'm not a big fan of the commercials themselves, and the knowledge that they've turned "It's so easy, a caveman could do it" into a full-fledged television show is just sad and pathetic. I certainly won't be watching!

Okay, so I know the premiere for this show just aired. Did any of you see the trainwreck? I missed it and am interested in hearing how it was. I'll have to check if there are any clips online.

While flipping through channel, I saw a little bit of it. It wasn't as horrific as I thought it'd be. Not interesting enough to keep me from changing the channel, but not awful.

I have it on my DVR so when I have nothing else to do -meaning I have scrubbed all the household surfaces with a toothbrush - I will watch it and let y'all know how it is.

How quickly do you think it will get canceled? DH wanted to watch it, so we did. But I was waiting for it to be over.
We watched Carpoolers after which was better - not terrific, but not as terrible as Cavemen.

We Tivo'd it, and, though I was only half-watching, it wasn't as bad as it could have been. It was very "oh, I get it, they're talking about racism, duh" with the thinly veiled symbolism, but, still, it could have been worse.
I don't dare watch the show, but I LOVED visiting http://www.cavemanscrib.com/ last year. It looks like they have since added more features, so I will be playing around with it again.
