Yay! Thanks Jane for starting this thread. I hope you don't mind that I don't think I will be able to co-mod. I've never been a mod before plus I'm not sure how much time I will have soon since work is going to pick up.

So I know I have said it in a few places but, Congratulations!! Are you finding it hard to work today? I sure am! Must get back though since I have something due at 5pm today!

Thanks BTB!

Edited because I forgot to post that my first appointment is 8/25

Congratulations Kopper. :D You certainly don't have to volunteer to moderate if you don't want to or don't think you'll have the time. I'm happy to do it on my own if no one else volunteers, I don't mind. I didn't get much done at work today and I'm not being productive at home either. I feel a bit off today, lots of odd twinges in my lower abdomen and now I have a headache.

thanks BTB and alienhost. :) thanks krbb, I do remember you. :)

I have had the odd twinges and a few cramps here and there. They aren't like AF cramps exactly though. Yesterday I was nauseaus but that was probably partly due to nerves. Today I feel pretty good. :) I have had a headache off and on for the last three days but it's not too bad.

So have you told anyone IRL besides DH? I told my best friend yesterday morning but that is it. We are still debating on when to tell our families. I don't know if I can wait until my 8 week appt.

This morning I took another HPT and it was positive again! I have two more left so I will take those this week. When are you going to stop temping? I think I will continue until this weekend. What do you think?

Jane&Andy
07-26-2005, 07:49 AM
Sounds like the same things I'm feeling. Not like AF cramps, just weird twinges. I had a headache last night but its gone now. I felt like I needed to burp last night but wasn't feeling nauseous.

I haven't told any of my IRL friends unless you count my WC/LJ friend that I also know IRL. Since my first appoitment is only just over 2 wks away I think I want to wait til then to tell anyone. I wouldn't mind waiting out 2 doctor's appts before telling my in-laws. But we'll be seeing most of them right after the first appointment so we'll just see how that goes.

I actually stopped temping a few days before I was expecting AF. It was my first cycle temping and I was getting too anxious about my temp dropping or staying high at the end. I'd stop if the temping is becoming stressful for you.

I haven't retested. I saw the line and AF is not here so I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. :p I'd also have to buy more HPTs so I figure I'd rather save the money for baby stuff.

Kopper
07-26-2005, 11:06 AM
I could wait until 8 weeks or even longer to tell the ILs but I don't think I could wait that long to tell my parents. There was no way I could keep it from my best friend since she knows my cycles and she would know if I lied to her. I had to tell someone, I just couldn't keep it in! :)

Have you decided how you are going to tell everyone? We still don't know how we will tell my parents but I have known for awhile how we will tell the ILs. My MIL collects Swarovski crystal so I plan on buying these for her except in gold:

those are cute. :) I don't think we'll do anything special to tell them. I'll be telling my Mom and sisters over the phone b/c I won't be seeing them anytime soon enough.

Is this going to be the first grandchild for either of your families? Mine will be the 5th for my Mom and 4th for my in-laws. Plus FIL has 3 step-grandchildren on top of that!

Yep. This will be the first for my family. I have a younger sister but she isn't even married yet. DH is an only child and grandchild (MIL is an only child as well) so this will be the first for his side too. Both families are itching for grandbabies. My mom is always the one holding the babies at family functions :)

Jane&Andy
07-26-2005, 12:08 PM
your families will be so excited! Ours will be thrilled for us but its never the same level of excitement as the first was. DH's little sister should be having her baby very soon so MIL is thrilled about that. Its not quite as exciting when your son has a child as it is when your daughter does.

But the good side to all that is that my sisters have quite a bit of stuff ready to pass on to me. One sister still wants to have one more child but her's are 2 and 6 months right now she she is planning a brief hiatus before having the last one.

It seems like it was just yesterday that DH and I found out we were PG (Jan 26 actually...) Fast forward to now, and we've got baby showers around the corner, kicks in the ribs, heartburn, and a ton of excitement over meeting our little boy in just two short months!!! LOL!

Ok feel free to call me crazy but DH and I might be buying a crib soon. I know it is WAY too early to do this but I have been in love with this one for a year now.
http://buy.overstock.com/images/products/P1125097.jpg

It's from Pottery Barn. They no longer sell it in pink though. Overstock.com has it for 329.99 (w/shipping) and I can get it on Ebay for 314.99 -349.99 (w/shipping). The only reason I am even thinking about getting it is b/c if we do end up having a girl it is the crib I want. If we end up having a boy then I could just sell it on Ebay or to a consignment store or something. I know it's 50/50... Also, if we have a boy I want the same crib in blue. PBK still sells that one but it is 399.99 + 50 for shipping.

Am I crazy? I won't even open the box until we know anything. I just don't want to miss out on getting it and kick myself later. What do you ladies think?

jnshanna - Thanks, I hope your get your BFP soon and can join us! :)

Jane - Hand-me-downs are wonderful. My best friend has a two year old DS and she is going to share her maternity clothes and a few other things with me. Being the oldest sibling does have some disadvantages though.

Jane&Andy
07-26-2005, 01:25 PM
If that is what you really want than I don't think you are crazy. Especially if you have a back up plan for selling it if you don't use it.

I'm just itching to buy some baby stuff. I already have a small collection of gender neutral clothes, blankets and hooded towels. But I'd love to go ahead and buy something else - like a diaper bag.

Kopper
07-26-2005, 01:45 PM
Glad you don't think I'm crazy :) I've wanted this crib since it came out last year. I just looked and Overstock has the changing table too for $199! They are even selling the white changing table for $199 + $1 shipping and PBK is selling it for $249 + $50 shipping. Overstock rocks!

I can't wait to go baby shopping either. Right now I don't have anything. I haven't even bought any clothes. My best friend tells me I should wait until 12wks but I don't think I can.

Jane&Andy
07-26-2005, 01:50 PM
if you're looking for the crib/accessories in white you can find them pretty cheap. I've seen those Jenny Lind sets at Target and other stores for much less than PBK. Just not in colors like pink or blue.

I hadn't thought to check out Overstock for Baby stuff. I'll have to peak there. But I want to see stuff in person. I don't think DH is quite ready for a trip to Babies R Us just yet, maybe in a few weeks.

So far the clothing and accessories I've bought were all on sale. I have an awesome outlet mall by me that has a Carter's Outlet. I took DH there to shop for my neice and then I started looking around at newborn stuff. DH thought I was a little wacko but then he saw the 70% off rack and started picking out a few things. :p

thanks adoreh!

Jane - Oh, I forgot we have a Carter's outlet near here. I will be making a trip there soon! Last night I talked to DH about the crib and he really thinks we should get it. I emailed one more seller on Ebay and they are selling it new in box for 179.99 plus $65 for shipping. That is such a great price that I can pass it by. If we do end up having a boy I could just sell it to a consignment store or on Ebay. I want to taolk to DH again tonight before I place my bid but I think I will do it. We decided to just get the white changing table that matches it instead of getting blue or pink. Since we are going with white, we can wait for awhile before buying it.

BTW - we have had great luck with Overstock. I bought DH a Nike watch and several other things from them. The good thing about this crib is that I have seen it in person many times at the PBK store so I am certain that it is the one I want.

Jane&Andy

Sounds great Kopper. Its a fabulous deal. I've seen it at Pottery Barn too and it is an adorable crib. Are you going to do white for the rest of the furniture? I think that would look great.

I think we're going back to the outlet mall this weekend for pants for DH, which means I can do a little more shopping at the Carter's outlet. :)

Congrats to all the fellow April mommies-to-be!

I have a QOTD

Is anyone else freaking out that this won't stick?

I have hardly any symptoms today. The last few days I have had a little bit of pinching down there and sore breasts. Today my breasts are a little sore and I feel tired - but that could be due to the fact that I was awake in the middle of the night freaking out that this wouldn't stick! When I brushed my teeth this morning it tasted weird and so did drinking plain water (I drink a ton of water normally).

anyone else?

QOTD: I am and I'm not. I've had several symptoms that are just getting stronger each day so that makes me feel like this is real. Also, we have have been TTCing for just under a year so I just hope that this is really it. My symptoms today are major bloat, some twinging cramps, and small waves of nausea. Welcome Shanna, Jody and Bloomwood!!! I can't wait to see who else joins us. How exciting. :)

I am feeling a little stressed. I had my beta done yesterday and it was 10, that's so low! I might just been 12DPO today though, so really, that baby is brand spankin' new and still settling in so I need to relax. I looked up numbers on betabase.info and it's within the normal range, albeit at the lower end.

I am still testing like mad, and this morning took a Clearbue test and got a + sign in two minutes, so logically my HCG levels are rising right?

Listen to me! I am a second time preggo, I should be the voice of reason here - instead I am the worrywart. :D

I guess I didn't realise how much I wanted this little one until the silly nurse told me the level was 10. I didn't realise she would tell me, I was just wanting a yes or no from the doctors office! I even said that to Jason last night, he asked if I was getting a number and I said I don't think so, and if I did I would probably just stress over it. I was right!!!

I am sure it is all okay. I have an ache in my right side right now, and I had an ache exactly like this with Ruby when I was in the early days of my pregnancy with her. My boobs are still a little sensitive and I definitely still have the blue vein thing going on in the boobies. I am noticing I am much more tired too, and sleeping better, which is fantastic because I am normally a really light sleeper.

Anyway I need to go back and catch up properly because I was only able to skim over the posts earlier.

Grow babies grow!

Congrats on the crib Kopper! I fixed your due date. We lost power last night and the house was too hot for me to sleep so I'm functioning on less than 2 hours of sleep today. I found another mistake I made in that same post when I fixed yours. I'm a little slow today.

We went to the mall last night (b/c we had now power at home!) and wandered through Pottery Barn Kids and The Right Start. I didn't buy anything at either store but I had fun browsing.

I'm still feeling odd twinges/minor cramps off and on in my lower abdomen and my boobs are sore. I put on my shorts last night to go to the mall and they were very tight (they're normally snug at first but they stretch out really fast and then they're loose). I don't think it will be long before I need some bigger clothes. I've been tired lately but I also haven't really been pushing myself to be more active.

Sorry about your power. Thanks for fixing my date. I knew it was just a mistake. :) Hope you get more sleep tonight.

jnsshanna - Thanks! The guy said he would ship it tomorrow or Saturday. We should have it sometime next week! It will stay in the box though until we know it the baby is a boy or girl.

Kopper - those shorts ARE my comfortable clothes. :p They really aren't that bad, like I said they normally stretch really fast so they're a bit baggy after I've been wearing them for a bit.

yes, I am sooo exhausted. Its really starting to make me cranky. I went to bed early last night but I woke up at 5:30 am so I didn't really get to make up for the sleep I had missed the night before. We don't have a whole lot going on this weekend so I should be able to relax some.

No nausea yet but my boobs are pretty sore. They bother me the most when I first take my bra off but they aren't too bad after that. I'm not feeling as many cramps/twinges now. I was feeling like AF was going to start but not so much anymore.

Good Morning :)

How was everyone's weekend? We had a pretty busy weekend. On Friday I finished up the frame for my parents. I put together four pictures of us and at the top it said "John + Katie = ????" and then in tiny letters it said "Find out April 6th, 2006". On Saturday we went to my parents house in the morning and gave them the frame and a bib for my sister that said "I (heart) my aunt". They were all shocked but happy and excited. We told them that we wanted to wait until around 12 weeks to tell anyone else.

After that we went light shopping and ended up ordering our chandelier, two lights for above the wet bar and the entry way light. We also bought a light for above our breakfast area, two for our kitchen and one for over the breakfast bar. Yesterday we finished up the baseboards for the dining room and living room. I also painted the living room window sill. We cut and I painted the baseboards for the entry way. Now we just have to nail them up. DH put up all the kitchen lights last night. Whew.... a lot of house projects. The good news is that everything is almost done. I started looking at kitchen counter tops and we are deciding when we want to put them in.

That's about it for me. DH left this morning for Florida but he will be back Wednesday night. As for symptoms, mine have almost gone away. I feel pretty great now except for being more tired than usual.

Kopper - yippee for telling your family! I've got just over a week left before my doctor's appt so I think I'll tell my family once I make it through that.

We're trying to finish up some house projects too. DH has been trying to find a contractor to install our new bathtub upstairs (we've already removed the old one - it was smurf blue). Once that gets done we'll need to install new tile around the tub, new flooring, new sink and toilet, etc. The whole bathroom was smurf blue. We already bought the toilet, sink and bathtub.

We helped BIL finish off his fence for his new puppy on Saturday (his yard was almost entirely fenced in by his neighbors so he just needed a gate and about 2 ft of fencing on either side). DH has been dragging his feet about starting our fence but now he's more confident about it. So we bought some fencing materials on Sunday. I can't wait to have a fence for our dog!

Symptoms - my boobs are pretty achey but its not unbearable and I'm tired all the time. DH has been really good to me and supportive so far.

Jane - Yay! You are so lucky to get to see your doctor right away. I have to wait until the 25th so there was no way I could keep this secret for so long. We are telling his parents this weekend since it is FIL's birthday. Saturday was my parent's anniversary so that's why we picked it. After that we will keep it quiet until at least after my first appointment if not longer. Have you decided how you will tell your family?

We love house projects. After the baby though I know it will be harder so we are going to try and get as much done as possible. We have already finished all the bedrooms for the most part. The bedroom that will be the future nursery is already a very pale blue and I am pretty sure we will keep it that way. The only thing we will have to do is replace the baseboards and closet doors. I think we will probably have our painter come back and do some sort of mural in there too.

I can't believe you had a smurf blue bathroom! Wow that must have been a sight :) Are fences not common in your area? I know in a lot of places people don't put them up. Here they almost always come with the house.

Oh yeah... I forgot about the achy BBs! Mine have already gone up a cup size. Well I was a large C but not big enough for a D and now the majority of my Cs don't fit. :( I think I am the only PG woman who doesn't want them to get bigger! I guess that's b/c I was a DDD 18 months ago before my reduction.

Jane&Andy
08-01-2005, 08:31 AM
I don't want my boobs to get any bigger either! I'm a large D already. I think my Mom made it up to an E when she was pregnant! My bras are quite full now and only one is really comfortable. I was thinking about going back to the outlet mall for more but its still early so I think I may tough it out for awhile. I don't want to keep buying bigger bras over and over!

If I had to wait as long for my appt as you do I probably wouldn't wait to tell my family. I don't live near any of them so I will probably just call and tell them.

our other bathroom has pink fixtures! But it has a white shower that is in good condition so fixing it up will be a lot less work. All the houses in our area have the colored fixtures - apparently that was popular in the 60's! We need a new kitchen too (hideous metal cabinets) but we don't have the money for that.

Where I grew up everyone had wooden privacy fences but here its maybe about 50/50. A lot of people have no fence and maybe about half the people who have fences have chain link. I don't like chain link.

Hi ladies... Can I come in and play?

I think after 5 positive tests I've accepted this as real. I'm just very nervous since I still feel quite a bit of cramping... I never had that with my son. I'm hoping and praying it's just stretching pains. I had a c-section with my 1st one and this one will likely be a planned one from the start. No labor for me!

shucks girls, I am not going to be joining you on your journey. I miscarried yesterday. I am okay with it and dealing well. I won't go into details since this is a place for happy and healthy pregnancies, but it is in my journal if you want to check it out.

Best of luck to each of you. I hope your bundles of joy grow big and strong!

Kopper - thats nice that you have some bigger bras already. I don't want to end up buying too many, I'd rather do laundry more often. I have a 20% off coupon for the Leggs/Hanes/Bali outlet so I'll be cashing that in eventually when I'm ready to upgrade. :p

Congratulations bea_mama! :) I love the name Ava.

QOTD: have you thought about names yet?
DH and I picked out names before we were even engaged.

Joseph Alexander or Emma Lucille
(those names are all after various Grandparents (ours, not the baby's) except Alexander - we just like that name).

bea_mama - Welcome!! Glad you are joining us :)

QOTD: We have thrown around a few names over the years.

My current favs are:
Grace Allyn & Jacob Corwin

DH likes Grace and Corwin but is not sure about the names Allyn and Jacob (b/c his cousin's step-grandkid is named Jacob). I say we could name the baby Jacob anyway! :)

I also like:
Landon
Reed
Ethan
Preston
Emma
Presley
Audra
Lorelei

Hi everyone! I'm still amazed I actually get to join in the fun of this thread!

QOTD: We don't have any names yet. We had an easy time thinking up a girl's name last time (Ava is named - with a little variation -for my mom and Ian's mom), but struggled with a boy's name. This time, we're starting from scratch on the girl's name and I still don't have anything I really like for a boy!

If the baby is a boy, either the first or middle name will be James b/c that is a big family name for us. Otherwise, not sure.

Jane and Kopper - I like your baby names!

Shanna - we'll have to see how our little ones do with idea of getting a sibling - I think that Ava will be very surprised to no longer be the sole center of her parents' universe. ;)

bea_mama - Thanks! DH and I were talking about names again last night. It is always me to bring up the names though. I don't think he has once suggested a name. He tells me which ones he likes or dislikes but he doesn't ever offer any...

Jane - I really like the name Jacob. Luckily in my huge family there are not any Jacobs yet. Some of my previous favorite names have already been taken (Anna, Claire, Harrison, Abigail).

ETA - I have an aunt Jane, a cousin Andrew and a cousin Ava! :)

So I don't have my crib anymore. The seller emailed me this weekend to say that when he went to ship it, the shipping cost was $119 and he had only charged me $65. I'm pretty frustrated b/c I emailed him before I bid to ask for the shipping price and he quoted me $65. He is refunding me the money and it should be back in my account today. I'm still upset b/c it's not my fault he didn't do his homework and gave me too low of a rate. I do understand that he doesn't want to lose money but I lost out on other cribs b/c I bid on his. I also paid him and then have had to wait for a refund from him so I was out the money for several days. He rated me positive but I just can't give him a positive. What do you think, should I rate him neutral or negative? He has been good with communication and very nice so... Oh I am bidding on another crib right now that ends tomorrow. If I win this one, it will cost me ~ $25 more + the cost of insurance. If I don't win this one, I'm not going to bid on another one. We will just wait and hopefully I will still be able to buy it from Overstock.

Jane&Andy
08-02-2005, 08:42 AM
Kopper - I'm so sorry that you aren't getting that crib. I can understand the seller not wanting to loose money but like you said, he should have researched the shipping cost better. What sort of rules does Ebay have about this sort of situation? If he isn't actually breaking any rules I'd say give him a neutral rating and mention the shipping snafu and how it inconvenienced you.

My seventh neice/nephew is due any day now but luckily no one has picked a name (yet) that I might have used.

HI! Joining in with an April baby :)

About us:

Me, Rebecca (26)
Him, William (34)
Us: 4/3/04
#1: Caroline 7/14/01 (4)
#2: ??? due 4/5/06

LMP: 6/29/05
Ov'ed: 7/13/05
HPT #1: 7/28/05 (15 DPO)
HPT #2: 8/2/05 (20 DPO)

Pg confirmation appt: 8/17/05
1st OB appt: not scheduled

We are hoping (not so secretly) for a little boy to complete the clan... I know we'll be thrilled with another darling girl, too. This is DH's 1st baby, so he is still bewildered about the process :D but very excited. I'm fluctuating between happy and freaked... we only decided to try last month, and got pg the very first time. At which point we had each (independently) decided we shouldn't try this for a while. Haha, says fate.

I loved being pg before, though, and I'm thrilled to be again -- it's just all the external factors. Like being able to afford daycare fora 2nd child, since I can't afford to quit my job. And needing a new car. And so forth.

On the upside, both of my sisters are also pg right now, as well as two of my close neighbors -- so it's going to be quite a hormone party

Anyway, nice to meet you all, and I will now go back and read and find out who you all are (powers of reading retention being already stunted, it seems).

I did see a request for potential baby names, so:
Lauren Paige or
William Fisher (to be called Fisher)

I also love Adrienne, Audrey, Meredith and Charlotte (Kopper, you are the only other person I've ever seen with the name Audra on their list -- it's been one of mine for years, but I don't think it sounds as good with our last as Audrey. Not that dh is going for either one...)
Hopefully we don't have to worry about any other boy names, because we're hopelessly deadlocked on alternatives. The first one is totally set, though, being both family tradition (William as first) and my maiden (Fisher, since my brother may never get off his rear and find a wife).

Ok -- have a great day & talk to you soon!

Jane&Andy

Congrats Rebecca! :D Welcome.

Wow, you really are surrounded by PG people! How close are you sisters' due dates to yours? Do you live near each other?

My sisters and I have managed to space things out so that each year one of us has one baby. I'm glad its finally my turn! (they're older than me).

Since we have so many second time Moms in here I have a question for y'all. I've been browsing various baby gear and its all overwhelming (I do have Baby Bargains - very helpful book). Are there any particular items you'd recommend (can be specific if you love you brand of stroller or whatever else you might like). I'm open to any and all suggestions. :) TIA!

ceallaigh
08-02-2005, 10:45 AM
Welcome to all! We're a quickly expanding group!

Jane My FAVOURITE item was my Graco carrying car seat that fit in my travel system. You can buy a car seat that goes from birth to 30 pounds or more which does save you money but SO many times my little guy would fall asleep in the car and I'd bring him wherever we were going in that carrier and he'd sleep through a supper or let me get some housework done. I was so sad when I had to switch him to a big boy seat because now I have to wake him up to take him out of the car and he never falls back asleep.

Which brings me to travel systems... I love mine. Mind you it is somewhat heavy and bulky but we have an SUV and I never take public transportation so it doesn't bother me. I still use the stroller.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Ceallaigh

Jane&Andy

Ceallaigh - I've been browsing online at travel systems. I'm hoping to find something fairly light weight. We're planning to buy a minivan so size isn't a big issue. I just don't want something too bulky. I don't take public transportation on a regular basis but we do take the metro into DC periodically.

Though I will likely have a planned CS before then.
I don't know why but I feel very apprehensive of this pg sticking. I had no complications with the last one (except near the end and I will spare you the details until we get closer to that time LOL)

I am also hoping for another boy. This pg feels weird from my last. I am so overwhelmingly tired every second of every day(which happened last time but not until later). I also got a distinct positive HPT at 9DPO  I haven't so much had the food aversions that I had last time but I am sure thats coming, with the nausea (ugh) And my bbs haven't grown enormously- however I could just be thinking they are not growing since I just finished nursing H.

But similar to last time I have been having cramps for the last few days.

Stroller/car seat-
We have the graco 'bucket' which he was in for a rediculously short amount of time, which fit in our Zooper Buddy stroller for off roading and then the Chicco Caddy umbrella stroller for shopping or whatnot. Mainly we just carried him in the Bjorn and the Kangeroo Korner fleece pouch which I still use to this day to keep him from running amok in the market. God help me if I get another one of the same model LOL. We have a Britax and an Evnflo triumph since he grew out of the infant seat. The evenflo is half the price of the Britax and I like it just as well if not better. I would recommend registering for a later car seat now cause no one is going to give you one later ;)

Congrats Txfish! I really like the name Audra but I'm not sure DH cares for it or not. There are several names that I really like but won't go well with our last name. Lilly & Wynn are two of them. DH & I knew an Audra in high school. I also like Aubrey and Audrey a lot.

Wow it will be fun being PG with your sisters and neighbors. My next door neighbor is due on Christmas Eve. They don't know about us yet and we probably won't tell them until 12-14 weeks if not longer.

jakedog - Congrats and welcome!! It's great to have so many 2nd time moms here. Wow you got your BFP early :) Hopefully those April momma will come in here soon.

Hi Rebecca and Liz!

Wow, we're rapidly expanding around here, aren't we?!

Liz, I'm worried about the pg sticking as well - don't really know why. Maybe b/c I love my little girl so much and I know just how amazing being a mommy is - and I really really want that amazing experience again.

Favorite things from the first time around:
Britax carseats (we have a Roundabout and a Marathon - both great!)
Snap and Go stroller for our infant carrier (I'm not a big stroller person - like slings better - and this is lightweight and relatively inexpensive)
Slings (we had a Bjorn and a Hip Hammock, but I'm definitely expanding my sling collection this time around)
Medela Pump In Style Breast pump (a lifesaver - first when Ava had major latch issues and then when I went back to work when she was 6 months old)
Gerber pacifiers
Desitin Diaper Cream (trust me, you'll use more of this than you can ever imagine possible. I need to buy some stock in the Desitin company!)

That's all I can think of now, but I'm sure I'll have more to add later!

Kopper - What sort of rules does Ebay have about this sort of situation?

I'm not sure but I'm going to go and look. I will probably end up giving him a neutral rating since it doesn't hurt or help his rating. I would want to know if a seller had done this before so I think other buyers might want to know as well.

I have a huge family so it is very difficult to pick names that others haven't used. My mom is one of 12 and with all the cousins, we have 69 immediate family members. There are 20 people on my dad's side. When you add that together, it's hard to pick a name that someone hasn't already used.

Jane&Andy

Yep. That's just first cousins (their spouses and kids), aunts, uncles and grandparents. I know all but one on my mom's side since we usually get together at least every other year and often times every year. The only one I haven't met is my cousin's daughter who just turned one. Out of 33 first cousins only 5 of us are married yet and there are 5 great-grandkids. So you can see how this will grow exponentially! Luckily I am the 6th oldest cousin. The younger ones will probably have to recycle. We are a pretty close family but as we continue to grow and more of my cousins get married and start families it will be harder to stay so close.

My dad's family is another story. I'm really not close to anyone on his side at all. Two of my cousins have kids and I only know what the oldest's name. DH has a very small family since he is an only child and MIL is an only child. All of his cousins except for one are much older and we don't ever see them.

Jane&Andy
08-02-2005, 01:12 PM
wow, I just couldn't imagine keeping up with that many people! I'm sure by the time your youngest cousins start having babies there will be quite a bit of overlap in the names.

I have 4 neices/nephews from my two sisters. And 3 from my DH's siblings. But two of those kids have Japanese names (DH's oldest brother married a woman from Japan) so its not like she picked names that I would have ever thought to use. :p

My appointment is in one week from tomorrow! Its been hard keeping my mouth shut. I have to double check my emails before I send them to my Mom and sisters to make sure I didn't let anything slip. Not that it would be the end of the world but I'd just rather not have them find out that way.

I definitely want a few more slings this time. With Noah, I preferred slinging to strollering for the first 9+ months, then we ditched the stroller completely around 22 months or so. I figure I'll just reuse the same infant carseat and stroller (it was a travel system) and get another convertible carseat for the new bug, probably another Evenflo Triumph, since I really like Noah's seat. We'll reuse Noah's crib for the new babe, too. There's really not much I plan to buy, besides maybe an exersaucer and perhaps a big swing. I bought a travel swing and borrowed a big swing when Noah was born, and the travel swing was pretty lame after he weighed about 15 pounds or so.

And I ditto Bea_mama's rec's for the Medela PIS. GREAT pump!

Symptoms: My bb's are so sore. They're huge, the sides seem to ache, and my nips are out of control. I'm having little waves of nausea here and there today, and I'm still feeling really full, even when I haven't eaten. Last night was the first night I had to get up twice to pee, rather than the once I've been going for the past week. Ugh. I remember how much I HATED getting up every hour or two near the end, so I'm trying not to complain too much, yet... :p I also feel totally bloated.

Hi back and thanks for the welcome :) I'm going to get so over my moments of "freaked out", now that I have all of you to be excited with.

Jane, I love that we're all pregnant together, my sisters & friends! My sis's are for 8/26 and 11/27, and the neighbors are 11/20 and 3/10/06. I'm last, which just means that everyone else will already be too tired to help me out when Bean gets here. LOL I'm sure our parents will wish we had alternated years -- then we all could have had our "center of attention" gene fulfilled, and the grandparents wouldn't be losing their minds trying to remember 4 new baby names all at once. Not to mention having 4 babies all shrieking at Christmas!

What I loved: ditto, the infant carrier/travel system. I would love to get that snap-on carrier frame stroller, as it is exactly what I need to get in and out of places quickly sans bulky stroller and with 4-year old intact. I had a snugli, that I did *not* like much -- it was hard to use, I thought. And my dd was so long, it was fairly uncomfortable. The backpack was great, once she got older. I would love to try a real sling this time.

Oh, and I had a bassinet that had convertible wheels on rockers, so I could either wheel it around to keep her near me, or fold up the wheels, and rock her. That was a particularly useful piece. Heinously ugly, but useful. All white plastic and cheap navy gingham LOL

Bea -- thanks for the reminder on the PIS. I got a little plug-in Medela pump last time, for periodic use, but since I'll be going back to work pretty quickly I will *definitely* need a super pump.

Kopper -- wow! That's a lot of people! What a cool family, albeit difficult to keep up with  Glad you're getting in "early" on name selection... it's always better to get your pick in first! (To this day, my oldest sis swears I stole Caroline from her. The fact that I'd had it picked since age 12, meant nothing... she was just mad because right at the same time, her best friend took Olivia, her other favorite name. Poor thing!)

Shanna, sorry your bb's are hurting so much! Hope the nausea stays at bay. Why can't we all just be comfortable??? :)

Hi Liz! Sticky vibes, coming your way -- sorry you're worried about it, hang in there and soon we can all be worrying about colic together, instead. And, that dog is too cute!

Ok, girls, back to (a little bit of) work!

Well no crib. The seller emailed me to say she is canceling the auction because PBK is recalling the cribs for safety reasons. Oh well... Guess I will have to find a new one. I'm not in a hurry though since this one is no longer an option.

Good news though, DH will be home tonight! :)

I'm sorry Kopper. But at least it was recalled before you had one in your hands. Welcome home to your DH. :)

DH started our fence this week! He promised me that it will be done before the baby comes. Actually, he even said it would be done before I'm too big to walk the dog. :) I'm going to help him set some posts tonight.

This still feels very unreal. I suppose it will feel more real once I see the doctor and once I get hit by some strong symptoms. But for now I still don't really feel like I quite believe it. :)

I'm going to have to confess that I already am experiencing preggo brain, and need to change my due date to April 9 because when I figured it out I used the wrong date! Not that I think that will be my actual delivery date - I was a week late with Ava! But important to keep good records, right?

I just made my OB appt - Sept 14. It's the first one I could get! My OB practice is very busy and it's tough to get appts, which is a pain. But I did get an appt with the midwife I saw throughout my last pregnancy, so I'm happy about that.

I'm home taking care of Ava today - she's sick with a fever and cough. I'm exhausted, so happily I got to lie down and take a nap with her this afternoon.

QOTD: How are you feeling?
I was nauseous with aching boobs last week, now I'm just really tired. I do recall a sigificant lack of typical pregnancy symptoms the last time around, so I'm hoping that's all it is.

Jane - I'm a little bummed but I would rather know now. Yay for Andy starting the fence! Do you have a large backyard? Ours is pretty small unfortunately.

bea_mama - I have forgotten a few things lately and several times I have not been able to think of a word. I didn't want to chalk it up to PG brain but maybe it is..

QOTD - I'm feeling pretty good. Right at this moment I'm having some sugar issues (I'm hypoglycemic) but hopefully since I just some blueberries I will be feeling better soon. No more nausea and the BBs are just mildly sore. The acne is what is really bothering me! My chin has really broken out.

Morning girls :)

Welcome Sal!

Good news Jane -- can't wait to see the finished product :) We desperately need to re-do our *very* old fence, but it just slipped down the priority list...

Kopper, sorry about the crib. How disappointing.

Bea -- so funny, you're not the only one with pg brain already. DH is already laughing his rear off at how many times I've walked around the house without a clue what it was I meant to be doing. I've made up a sign for my door that just says "Gone Stupid".

QOTD: I'm still feeling fine, really, except for the fatigue. It's a killer, and I wasn't working during my last pg so it's like a double mack truck has hit me. Astonishing how just sitting in a chair all day (being required to concentrate!) is so exhausting. My bb's are sore, but not horrible, and the nips aren't sensitive yet. (yay!) No nausea yet, although that seems right, compared to last time -- got sleepy first, and then nausea around 6-8 weeks?

I have another question for you girls: I know I mentioned how both of my sisters are pg right now; one of them is scheduled for inducement on 8/23 now. So, when would you, as someone about to deliver, want to find out the news about a new baby, or more to the point have your family find out that news? I know I have the right to have my own excitement, but I just don't want the family to be all excited about me and take away *at all* from her & her new baby. I either need to tell them *now* and let it die down before her baby comes, or wait like a month after the baby is born (and I don't think I can wait that long, since I'll be seeing everyone and they will wonder: why no cocktails?)

Any ideas or input? I wasn't prepared to tell them right now, as I haven't had a single dr appt -- not even my confirmation appt., let alone a first early u/s to make sure all is well. But I just don't see how I can put it off that long!

Have a great day!

Hey Sal glad you came over :)

Rebecca, If it was my first I would probably spill the beans early but since we are on #2 I think I would wait and let my sister have the spotlight. I think the new baby stuff will die down within a week or two and then you could share your happy news. I don't think there is a right answer but that is what I would do.

Kopper- sorry about the crib. But it could be a blessing, my son is over a year now and we have only gotten him to sleep successfully in his crib twice. (he sleeps in his PNP)
We took it apart and it lives in the basement now.

I am totally exhausted about every second of every minute of every hour of every day. I am sleeping 10 hours a day and could use about five more LOL.
My first appt is 8/23. They wanted me to come in 8/18 but we will be away. I think I may be kicking myself for pushing it back in a week or so. Anyway they have an US in the MW office so hopefully we should be able to see everything by then.

Have a great day mommies!

Txfish - Hmm... Considering I couldn't wait at all and told my parents last weekend and will tell the ILs this weekend I'm probably not the best person to answer. :) If you aren't ready to tell them, maybe it is better to wait like Jakedog said. I'm not having my first appt until 8 weeks and there is no way I could wait.

jakedog - Thanks. You are right. We are going to wait awhile before we start looking.

New QOTD: Are you eating any differently now that you found out?

I am trying to eat the same for the most part but have added a glass of milk in the morning and am eating more small snacks through out the day. My snacks mostly consist of fruit, dried blueberries (Yummy!) and almonds. The Taco Bell I had last night probably wasn't a good idea though. It's just a one off though since DH got in late from traveling. I've been off and on Weight Watchers for the past two years so I am finding it sorta weird to try and not think about points.

Txfish - You could really go either way, but I would wait. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to disguise cocktails this past weekend at my sister's wedding - even sitting next to my dad! We're waiting until my b-day in September, when I'll be 10 weeks (although I have my first ob appt on Monday 8/8, so I know the temptation will be raging!

QOTD: Well, not purposely - but I'm starving much more often! I'll eat a snack (melba toast and hummus most recently today), and I'm ravenous an hour later! I eat pretty healthfully for the most part, but I'm also finding myself more and more lax about indulging my daily afternoon chocolate habit...peanut M&Ms are my fav.

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

I am also starving one minute and feeling nausea the next. Last time I was really sick from 6 weeks until 12.5. I am really hoping that does not happen again. It is really exhausting this time around having to run after my little guy. Especially feeling it right now. We just got home from gymboree class and I am glad there are only a few left. I feel all crampy and exhausted from lifting him up and down. In the fall I am taking Music Together with him and hopefully that will be less active and more just singing and dancing because gymwalkers is too much for me!

my son is over a year now and we have only gotten him to sleep successfully in his crib twice. (he sleeps in his PNP)
Jakedog I never knew this! How funny! Hey whatever gets us through the night right? ;)

Hi Ladies!

Thanks for the input -- I agree that I just don't want to do anything that takes any of her time away from her. I thought about calling her to tell her first, and just asking her when she'd prefer I let everyone know -- but that takes the fun out of the surprise announcement for her.

So, I will try to channel you mature women ;) and be extremely patient & sneaky and just hold the news for awhile. (But I fear I am like Kopper, and just won't be able to stand it. At least I'll have a good motivator to keep my silence!)

Weird event: yesterday my stepmother called. She & my dad live about an hour south of us, and we used to live about 5-10 minutes away from them, so saw them all the time. But lately we just haven't gotten together, so we were really catching up & honestly a little distant... and she up and asks me if we're pregnant yet! Now, I have told everyone in my family that we are not trying, have no plans for this right now, have always left it pretty vague. I immediately (accomplished liar that I am, in a nosy family  ) said No! Why would you ask? And she told me that she was just thinking about it, and figured I'd be pregnant within 6 months, so she was going to start asking every now and then. She is going to swat me with a newspaper when I tell them... Totally freaked me out! (Incidentally, she did the *exact* same thing to my sis who is due: they weren't going to try until Feb/March, and she called my sis the first week of January and asked her, and she was.)

QOTD:
I am trying to eat well, but I definitely have a tendency towards eating junk. Trying to keep a lid on it and get a lot of prep work done so I can quickly put together healthy things that taste good. Like, spinach salad instead of Cheetos :D I have been drinking a ton of milk, and my vitamin regimen is going strong.

argh! I couldn't get on to CC all day long today. I don't know if I'll be able to get on tomorrow at work (they moved CC to a new server thingy last night and some ISPs are slow to find it at its new location - I finally got in at home by shutting my computer down and turning off the internet for a few minutes). Anyway, I'm too tired now to update the appts y'all posted so I'll do it tomorrow (assuming I can get into CC from work). So I'm not ignoring the updates, just haven't gotten to it yet. Keep posting them in red! (much easier for me to catch them!).

QOTD: not really eating different. I cut back on my caffeine when we started TTC but now I've cut it almost all out (some days none, some days 1 glass of soda).

Txfish - I don't think I'd worry about it too much if I were you, surely everyone can be excited for both of y'all. I wouldn't announce it at the hospital right after she has the baby but I don't see anything wrong with announcing it before or soon after.

DH's birthday is Saturday and we're having some of his family over. Just thinking about getting ready for it makes me tired. :p

woohoo! I can get onto CC from work this morning!

TGIF! :)

Kopper - our house sits on 1/4 acre so we don't have a huge yard, but its pretty standard size for our area. DH has officially started the fence. He got a late start this week b/c he worked a very long day Wednesday. His brother is coming over tomorrow to help some. yippee!

I'm still feeling pretty good, just sore BBs and very tired.

I found out yesterday that my Mom's friend's son and his wife just lost their baby at about 14wks. This just further fuels my internal debate about when to tell family. I'm anxious to tell them but so afraid that something will go wrong. I'll probably go ahead and tell me family after my appt next week. Not sure when we'll tell the in-laws.

We're having my in-laws over tomorrow so I need to make sure I hide my baby books and prenatal vitamins. I could always tell them we're just planning ahead but I don't want to lie about it.

We have a plumber coming over Sunday to look at our bathroom remodel (we're doing most of the work ourselves but need a little help). We need to get it done soon b/c the new tub, toilet, sink and vanity are all stored in our future nursery right now!

Hi everyone!

Txfish - In your situation, I'd probably wait about a week after the baby is born to make your big announcement. But it would be tough to wait!!
And your stepmother must be psychic - that's amazing.

QOTD - My eating habits haven't changed at all, just trying to limit the caffeine. I don't really drink any soda, but I love my morning coffee, so it's a bit of a bummer. I'm just making lattes that are very heavy on the milk with a little bit of coffee for flavor. Oh, I'm off of deli meat too - when I was pregnant with Ava was when there was a lot of publicity on listeria, so it effectively freaked me out enough that I won't eat deli meat while I'm pregnant (at least without nuking it first). Otherwise, just longing for some sushi...

I'm still feeling fine, just tired. I was talking to Ian about how I don't have a lot of pg symptoms and how it was weird and he informed me that he knows I am pg b/c my chest is getting bigger. I'm enjoying it now, because before I know it, my belly will outpace my chest! :D (I hope!)

Hope you all have happy weekends!

Ok so I experienced afull day of preggo brain yesterday. First I went to water the garden and I forgot I was doing it, not once or even twice but FIVE times. I would be sitting down thinking ho hum and then 'omigod!' I left the water on again! Then I would go out and move the hose and a half hour later 'Omigod!'

Then later we went to the market, so I bring the groceries inside and I go out to the driveway and I am just standing there thinking "what did I come back out here for???" Ummm yeah, that would be MY SON who was still sitting in his carseat. DUH. then we came inside and I was putting the groceries away and I was like "where's the cheese? where's the tortolini? where's the nectarines?! I must have forgotten a bag at the store!" Orrrrrrr just maybe I already had put the food in the refridgerator-DUH.

OMG jakedog! That's too funny. I've been forgetting things a lot lately. Mostly it's just words. I know what I want to say but some how I can't think of the word.

We had a long weekend. Ikea opened up here last Wednesday. My sister and I went on Friday night. I didn't buy much but we had fun. Then on Saturday DH decided he wanted to go so we were back again! This time we had to wait outside for about 20min before we could go in. The line was that long! DH and I ended up buying a coffee table, three end tables and a huge picture to go above our couch. Then on Saturday night we put everything together. We also went to my parent’s house for awhile to see my grandparents.

Sunday morning we spent picking up things and finishing up some house projects. My parents and grandparents came over around 10:30 or so to look at the progress. DH went to help FIL after that and I took a nap. We then went over to the ILs house for FIL's birthday. After we gave FIL his b-day gift we told him we had one more present. Well he didn't see anything so he said he thought he knew what it was. He kept looking at us and we knew he knew! So we gave him the tiny box. That sure confused him! He then decided he didn't know what it was. So he opened the box with the Swarovski pacifier and got this big smile on his face and handed it to MIL. She picked it up and looked at it for a minute or so. At first she didn't understand what it meant and then she yelled out, "You're pregnant??" :) It was really a great evening. We talked for quite a while and then they came over to our house to see the progress. After that DH and I hung some pictures and then went to bed.

I’ve been doing ok. Saturday I was sick all afternoon and evening with some sort of intestinal thing. It was awful! :( The pain was so bad that I almost passed out in Ikea. Good thing we had already checked out. DH was in line to get a hotdog and cinnamon roll and I had to call him out of line so we could leave. Poor thing! He had already waited 10 minutes in line and was only three people away from ordering. I said get ready b/c that was probably the first of many times we will have to leave b/c I’m about to be sick. The pain made me so nauseous and light headed. I was fine by Sunday but it was not fun. Other than that, the BBs are very sore again and I have been really tired lately.

aw, that makes sense. Congrats again Melissa!

Only 2 more days left til my appt. I'll probably go ahead and tell my Mom and sisters after that. DH and I still haven't decided when to tell his family. His sister is due any day now but thats not really a factor in our decision b/c I don't think my news would steal her thunder at all.

I still feel good, just the same sore BBs and exhaustion I had last week.

DH is slowly making progress on the fence and we've hired someone to do most of the work on our bathroom for us (we were trying to DIY it). Hopefully we can get our household projects done before winter and then we can spend the winter relaxing and preparing for the baby.

Congrats and welcome Melissa! Glad you are joining us.

Jane&Andy - I totally understand. We are trying to finish all of our projects before the baby comes. We love to DIY too but there are just sometimes where it's better to hire someone. We haven't touched our bathrooms or kitchen yet. I'm trying to convince DH that we should do the kitchen before the baby but I don't know if he will go for it. Luckily for us, the future nursery is already painted the way I want it. We plan on hiring our painter to come back and do a mural or something. The baseboards and closet doors need to be replaced but everything else is complete.

2 more days until your appt! You are so lucky! Do you know if you are going to have an US tomorrow? I have to wait for 17 more days :(

jakedog - My brain has 90% preoccupied with anything but what I'm supposed to be thinking about....seriously, the nurse this morning was verifying my age, and I actually drew a blank as to how old I was! If I keep this up at this rate, work (I'm in corporate finance) is really going to become a problem!

Congratulations Melissa!

So, wow, I had my first appointment this morning - I'm 5w1d. Had the full, violatory examination, and drew a ton of blood. Overall, it was a very positive visit, although I didn't learn much. My ob is extremely nice, and answered a few questions about caffeine/nutrasweet (caffeine is fine 1x/day), exercise (3-4 days week for 30-45 min). She also said to expect spotting today/tomorrow from the exam, and not to be worried. I go back on 9/15 to hopefully hear a heartbeat! I'm hoping that I can keep everything on the down low until then, but honestly, the secret is so difficult to keep!

I'm feeling okay in general - although I have a dull sense of being kind of "carsick" all the time. I just hope it doesn't get any worse!

OCDwife Glad your first apt went well! Hope you are not too uncomfortable tomorrow.

I have a few questions for you ladies (I may have missed them in the thread since I am jumping in late)
-I have had cramps from 7DPO till today 10 DPO. They were pretty bad today. Any idea when they will go away?
-Also I have been hvaing horrible insomnia. Tired all the time, but can't sleep! Any advice?

Thanks ladies, I am reading and learning!

Mel - I had cramping for only about the first week, not quite as early as yours started. Most of the time it wasn't too bad but it was pretty uncomfortable at times. My SIL's doctor told her she could take Benadryl to help her sleep. I haven't talked to mine yet about what is ok to take.

I don't have any idea when my doctor does an u/s. I guess I will find out tomorrow. I've been assuming it would be at my next appt but I'm not sure when that would be. I know at first I'll be going in once a month but my first appt is with a nurse practitioner instead of the doctor. So I don't know if I have to wait a full month after this before seeing the doctor.

I have a dull sense of being kind of "carsick" all the time
I started feeling like this yesterday. And my complexion is worse then it was when I was a teenager. I went to bed at 9:30 last night. :)

Also having the carsick feeling here. My morning sickness really came on strong at 6 weeks with my son and lasted to 12.5 weeks so I am really hoping that does not happen again!

Melissa welcome and congrats!
Still cramping here but it is tapering off. Also very gassy which is just SO pleasant.

With DS I had my first ultrasound (vaginal) at 8 weeks. I have my first doctors appt friday and I will only be 6 weeks but hopefully I will still have one. I know all you see is a little blob at that point but it is still nice to see the little heart fluttering :)

Oh yeah.... I counted 9 zits last night. I have a pizza face :( It seems they are all about on their way out. Hopefully I won't have bad acne the whole pregnancy!

OCDwife - Glad you appointment went well! I have the "carsick" feeling off and on too. Mostly I've noticed it when I am hungry or after I eat. Great right!

Sal03 - Thanks! FIL said that it was the best news he has heard in a long, long time. :D

mel7dog - I had them from around 11DPO until around 18DPO or so. I still get them every once and awhile but they aren't nearly as bad now.

TMI warning... I have been getting them every time after DTD. That scares me so I told DH we can't DTD that much right now. He is bummed :(

So new QOTD: Have you DTD since your BFP? Was it different or did it scare you?

It scares me b/c I get cramps afterward.

Hi Melissa and Congrats!!

Not much new with me. I'm feeling pretty good, although still tired. I have to pee all the time - which is a pain, b/c it means I get up early to go to the bathroom but then can't fall back asleep which makes me more tired. Otherwise, no symptoms. That's a little worrying, but I never had symptoms beyond being tired with Ava, so maybe I'm just lucky. Or maybe I'll just get hit with wicked MS in a few weeks!

I'm jealous of all of you getting in to see your doctors so quickly - my appt isn't until 10 weeks! :( At that appt, I should get an US to look for the heartbeat - I think that's when all this will start to seem real to me.

Hope you are all doing well! :)

bea_mama - that really sucks that you have to wait so long for your first appt. :(

I ran out to CVS a little while ago for some sour candies (suggested by an LJ buddy). Either they really are helping me with the morning sickness or the sourness is just distracting me, but either way I feel better. I picked up some sour altoid gum and sour starbursts.

Welcome Rileymom!

I went to the clinic on base to fill out all my paperwork today. Because I am military they have to put me on a profile. They had to send the profile to my supervisor for a signature, so I asked them to wait a few minutes so I could go back and tell him first. It's hard to keep it a secret in the military because of everything we have to do.

I also told a few more people, so although I am not telling everyone, it is basically known at work or will be before too long. Oh well

QOTD: Yes, have DTD and had no worries. Just makes me nice and sleepy :) (Wait, you mean I was already sleepy?)

I am definitely in the carsick club -- just a general ick feeling all the time. My coworker told me to try salty lemon wedges (as "prescribed" by her midwife); I haven't yet. I hadn't been charting (except for keeping track of CD's), so when I was about a week late and thirsty/peeing all the time, I knew something was up!

My first MW appt is on 25 August, so until then, its going to be pretty quiet for me hopefully!

I'm feeling great - a little bloated (kind of feels like I did a TON of ab work/crunches yesterday) and sore boobs, but otherwise happy & healthy!

My first doctor's appointment went well. They did a pap smear (since I was due for one), quick breast exam (apparently I have good nipples for breast feeding), and took a bunch of blood. I have lousy veins so they tried the back of my hand first and barely got anything. Then another nurse tried my arm and found the vein but she had to move the needle around a lot to find it so my arm and hand are pretty sore. Of course, the veins in my left arm are the worst so they always use my right. Oh well, I know I have bad veins so I expected this.

I think I gave them the wrong date when I told them my LMP and they gave me a due date of 4/4. I had told them when my LMP was when I scheduled the appt so I didn't think to look the date up again before this one. So I think I was off by two days and really have a due date of 4/2.

My next appt is on Sept. 7. I won't get an u/s til 20wks but we will get to hear the heart beat. Andy is coming with me for that one.

They gave me a packet of info to look through and the pre-admission forms for the hospital. As far as diet she just said to avoid eating anything raw.

Congrats Cagey! :)

Hi & congrats Cagey!

Jane, bummer about all the poking. I'm so pleased to hear that you have proper nipples ;) Oh, and hey -- saw a post of yours on another thread -- I live in Spring and I saw that you grew up here. Where'd you go to school?

I'm getting kind of cranky about u/s -- I want an early one!! It seems like everybody was getting ~8 week u/s, and now the more I look people really aren't getting them until later... should I pretend I don't know my LMP/O date, so they have to date it? LOL I need to check with my OB on procedure, but I really thought that most dr's were doing one at the first ob appt. now routinely.

I have no idea how long I'll have to wait for my 1st ob appt. anyway, because when I didn't get picked for jury duty on Monday I tried to reschedule/ bump up my confirmation appt & they told me they were booked through the end of Aug!!

I *so* want to go home and lay down right now. I am the biggest weenie on earth. Which is probably why my husband snorted last night upon my mentioning taking natural birth classes...

wanted to get a feeler from all of you on this:

We're going on vacation to Mexico in late January (warm weather and swimming =yay! not able to embibe in the all-inclusive drinks=BOO!)

I should be around 5 1/2 months along if everything goes well.

the question: Should I buy a few summer outfits now that are being discounted? I'm thinking a bathing suit and a couple of skirts/tops. I feel stupid buying mat clothes now, when I'm barely 4 weeks pg, but don't think I can pass up the prices.

thoughts?

txfish I asked for an early u/s, they're not standard for my OB. Since my last pg'cy resulted in m/c, it was no problem at all. I called, asked for them to send an order to the radiology dept. at the hospital (they don't do u/s's in office, except for quick checks if they can't find the hb after 12 weeks, etc.) and then I called and made my appointment. I bet if you asked for one, they'd be happy to oblige.

I'm feeling okay. Nauseated every morning, tapering off in the early afternoon, feeling full and not eating much. My bb's aren't nearly as sore as they were. Still really tired.

I'm anxious for my u/s next Tuesday (I'll be 7w3d), and my first OB appt. is on Thursday. Hoping I can get out of the pap since I just had one in April.

Jane Glad your apt went well, sorry about all the no fun blood work :(

]cagey Welcome!! When is your EDD, could we be due date twins?!

I have a random question for you all. I am worndering how they know if you are having twins if they don't do an US untill 20w? Is there any other way to tell? Two of my Dad's three sisters have had boy/girl twins naturally and for some reason I am convinced it could happen to me. I am prob. just being silly, but still!

As for my sysmptons, cramping has gone away, but the fatique is on full force. All I want to do is sleep, but then I can't since I wake up tons during the night

Cagey- I would definately do that. We were going to Hawaii at Christmas when I was due with H (June baby) and I got some great deals on gap shorts and T's. Also the maternity tankinis make you feel more pregnant and less fat when you are about halfway through. Maybe I would wait til after my first appt. but otherwise I would say go for it!

Jane- glad your appt went well. Sorry about the sticking and poo on them for no US until 20 weeks! Dont't they know you want to see your peanut?

Mel- I don't know about this but maybe they could tell from your uterus if it was growing faster then normal  You could always tell them twins run in your family and see what they say. You should really be getting more calories too if you are expecting twins.

As for our appt. our midwife is US happy. I am sure we will have a TV one at our appt. I think I had one at around 6 weeks with H and we could see the heartbeat so hopefully we should be able to see it on the 23rd. We didn't get to hear it for a long time since i had an anterior placenta last time. Maybe we'll get lucky this time - although seeing is good enough for me.
Add me to the list of motion sick feeling. I am sitting here sucking down the peppermint tea.
I have also had lots of minor cramping pretty much every day so I am not sure whats up with that.

Anyway welcome Cagey, Rileymom and Stumbles!

that's too cool Txfish! I lived in Memorial Northwest - I went to Theiss elementary, Doerre Junior High and Klein High (but only for a year and a half). I was there from 1980-1992. :) Its a nice town but its too darn hot in TX for me!

cagey - it sounds to me like it would be a good idea for you to go ahead and buy the summer clothes for your vacation.

mel7dog - they ought to be able to find two heartbeats if its twins, especially if you tell them to look for it since it runs in your family

jakedog - I'm disappointed about the no early u/s but at least we'll get to hear the heart beat next time, that will be good enough for me - for now.

I called my Mom and sisters tonight and they are all so excited for us. :D

Hey guys! :)

Thanks for the welcomes! :)

Today I am 3 weeks 5 days. I'm feeling pretty crappy. I have been extra tired and my boobs are quite sore. I keep feeling little niggles in my abdomen area. :)
I took another test this morning but the line is lighter than yesterday's was. It is still so early, 12 DPO today. I hope everything is okay. I'm going to book into the doctor today to get everything confirmed.

Hope you are all well! :)

Congrats to all the new arrivals! Glad to have you join the thread :)

mel7 hopefully they will give you an u/s if you tell them about the twins history. otherwise I am sure they will just listen in a few weeks for two heartbeats. Also if they do bloodwork, your numbers will be much higher with twins.

Jane Yay for telling the family! Isn't it so much fun sharing the news??

cagey I would probably buy. And at most places if you leave the tags on you can usually at least exchange them if they do not work at the time

I have been feeling like everyone else, but the nausea has increased. I feel like I have been eating two bagels a day and then a bowl of pasta. Luckily that tapered off around week 13 with DS so I did not turn into a total blimp last time. Hopefully it will be the same with this baby. My menstrual type cramps have tapered off but now I have been getting sharp little pains on each side a few times a day. I think I also had that with DS and it is probably everything just stretching out but it is still a little unsettling. I am SO happy my first doctor's appointment is tomorrow so I can hopefully see what is going on. Off to eat my first bagel of the day!

Thanks for the welcomes everyone! :)

Welcome to stumbles and cagey too!

Cagey I think that's a good idea. Just because I am a superstitious freak though, I might wait until after my first appointment. That's just me, though. :)

Jane I feel your pain on the no ultrasound thing. Time is just going to be dragging along, huh? At least we have each other to commiserate with in the meantime. How exciting it must have been to tell your family! We are still debating on when to tell ours. Ideally, we would wait 12 weeks, but I just don't have that kind of discretion about this kind of thing. We'll probably tell them at 6-7 weeks. :)

I'm feeling a little queasy in the morning. I keep having a gag reflex for no reason. This morning, I was laying in my DD's bed with her, and she and I play this game where she puts her binky in my mouth. She did it this morning and I started gagging. :o No sore boobs though, which I've heard is not unusual for your second pregnancy. Let's hope so.

Jane those are the best shoes! They stay on which is half the battle.

Jane&Andy
08-11-2005, 08:13 AM
RileyMom - my gag reflex is stronger too! I stuck a hairband in my mouth for just a second while I pulled my hair back and started gagging right away.

speaking of gagging, for those who've been through this before - I have a dentist appt coming up soon - a normal cleaning is still ok, right? Just no xrays.

Jakedog - my neice got a pair of those shoes with cute strawberries on them for her birthday from my other sister. They looked so cute on her and I figured if my sisters were happy with them then I would be too. Now I just can't wait to get to use them. I'm thinking about saving them back as a fun gift for DH, maybe for after we hear the heart beat or for xmas (b/c of our bathroom remodel we're only buying baby stuff for xmas instead of gifts for each other, still buying for family, of course).

I adjusted my due date to 4/2. I think that's more accurate, not that it really matters b/c the baby will come when its ready.

Txfish
08-11-2005, 11:47 AM
Jane, normal cleanings are fine. In fact, 3 days before I got my HPT, I went and had x-rays done, too. Everyone I asked (in a total panic) said it was fine and really nothing to worry about; the ray is so localized and such a low dose it really won't cause any probs, but that's up to you & the dentist. Just make sure you tell them you're pg, so they know if there are any other accomodations or adjustments they need to make. (I even had a filling done the next week; they just removed the epinephrine from the local anesthetic & used the laser a lot to reduce the amount of "drugs" they had to give... pretty painful day still, but I felt confident I wasn't causing harm.)
~~ Oh, and we are right next door - in Colony Creek/Champion Spring. My DH went to Cy-Creek (lived in Lakewood)... apparently, you'd go wild to see the growth that has occurred in this area. (Don't tell, but TX is too hot for me, too. Even though I've never lived anywhere else.)

Cagey, I agree, you should probably go ahead and get a few things if they are good deals!

On the gag reflex -- I have never recovered from my last pregnancy. I spent 6 months like so: Brush teeth. Throw up. Repeat. I still approach the sink & brush in fear of gagging, from 4 years ago, and now it gets to start all over again. Yippee. So far, so good though... Though, I do get so much more mentally "ooged" out by what I put in my mouth when I'm pg. Like the hairband -- this had dirty hair on it! Vomit! What fun.

Riley, I have noticed that too this time -- my bb's don't hurt nearly as bad as I remember them hurting before. I read just recently that's because they are already "conditioned" for the upcoming event... whatever it is, it's fine with me!!

Oh yeah -- Mel -- I was going to chime in and tell that they will probably do an u/s like everyone else said, if you mention that you have a lot of twins in the family. But also, the way they would normally tell (if you have no reason to suspect) is that they measure the size of your uterus at every appt., and can tell if it is larger than it should be for your gestation week. FYI :) Let us know what you find out!

My husband thought I'd gone round the bend last night:
dh: "What are we doing for dinner?"
me: "I don't know. I'm hungry, but nauseated by the thought of food. And I don't want anything hot, and I don't want anything cold."
dh: "Kill me."
LOL -- poor guy.

Not much to report here. I'm doing pretty good. Only two more weeks until my appointment. I'm counting down tee hee. DH told one of our good friends last night. He's the husband of my best friend and she knew from day 1 but we hadn't told him yet. They are really excited for us. :)

Jane - I love those shoes. Too cute! You had me intrigued about the bella bands so I googled them. Let us know how they work out. I just might have to order one. I gained a few pounds prior to my BFP and don't have a ton of clothes that fit me now and it's not like I can go on a diet now either.... So maybe those will help.

Txfish - I agree! Texas is too hot. If it wasn't for family and friends I would move. That's funny about dinner last night. My DH asks every night too and I have no idea.

(tip-toeing in)

Hi ladies! I just got my BFP on Tuesday (at 10 DPO), confirmed again today, and will probably keep testing til I get over this fear of "not feeling pregnant." I'm not quite ready to join til after AF's supposed to arrive on Sunday, but I'm about to burst b/c DH and I haven't told anyone yet. So, if it's OK with you ladies...(and since I've already been lurking the past few days anyway) ;)

How do you know how far along you are? Do you count from your O day or the first day of your last AF? I feel pretty normal, except for being very tired (could be b/c I've been unable to get a good night's sleep since the first BFP). Don't know if I can blame that on being pg. Also, I have amazing blue veins on my bbs, chest, and legs (!) I haven't called my dr. yet - probably will do it on Monday. My secretary and another co-worker go to the same group of dr.'s, and I think they don't see you til 8 weeks or so - yikes! I'm going to push for earlier since this is just my 2d month off BCP.

Now for the requisite Houston connection :) Although I live in Dallas now, I grew up in Houston and went to Jersey Village (had a lot of friends from church at Cy-Creek though!).

Littlestar- Welcome! I know, its hard to believe when you see that little line show up. I was in disbelief until I took a total of 5 HPTS! I still can't believe it. But I am incredibly grateful for our good fortune, and am starting to accept it! Happy and healthy 9 months to you!

Okay, I have a weird symptom to report. Has anyone else experienced severe "dry mouth"? Its not like a "thirsty" kind of thing, but my mouth feels all pasty and dry. Weird. Is it a pregnancy symptom? I've never heard of it.

I also drank 1/2 cup of coffee this morning (I have been weaning myself off it completely) and just that little bit gave me unbeleiveable jitters. Scared me enough so I am not drinking any more at all.

I have the drymouth thing too, kinda like "cotton mouth"! I just ate a whole bowl of watermelon and it's back again!

Txfish - thanks for the dentist advice. I'm not even sure if I'd need xrays this time anyway. I've been back to Spring since 1992 and it had changed a lot. I returned to TX for grad school (A&M) for a couple of years and made it back to Spring to visit a few old friends a few time. It was weird to go back and see so many things that were the same but they were surrounded by new things.

Kopper - I'll post a review of those bella bands once I get them. I don't have much room to grow in most of my clothes and since the nausea has kicked in I'm a lot less comfortable in snug clothes.

Congratulations and Welcome LittleStar! :)

hello!

not much to report from me - have had the odd feeling of being hungry and bloated at the same time, which is a new one! Also, like RileyMom, I've had dry mouth, so have been sucking down candies (GinGins (http://www.gingerpeople.com/order_gingins.html) and AquaDrops (http://www.aqua-drops.com/products/) ) anddrinking tons of water.

Best of all, no nausea at this point! Taking a 20 minute walk does seem to help me with the extreme bloating....for now at least!

Heading down to the beach next week (no boogie boarding for me :( ) so my absence is intentional

Question for everyone: How has your workout routine changed/plan to change?
For me, not a ton has changed yet, and I'd like to keep doing what I'm doing, just lessen the intensity..naturally, will adapt as necessary based on MW recommendations!

Cardio: usually do kickboxing classes (no contact) 2x a week - I just lessen the intensity when I actually hit a bag.
Weights: use 8-12lb dumbbells, but am not going over 8 for above head things...
Yoga/stretching: ramping this up! Adding more hatha yoga and a little less power yoga. Stopping pilates - too much stress on stomach.
Walking: doing a lot more of this - treadmill on incline will substitute for cardio some days...

I'm curious about ab work/crunches - we NEED to keep those muscles strong, but I know that crunches and a lot of straining are out. Anyone have any ideas?

Txfish

Morning ladies :)

Welcome & congrats Littlestar! Was it you who asked about how to "date" your pregnancy? You can do it by your O date, or LMP -- first day of your last period. By LMP, add 9 mo. & 7 days, and I think by O date add 9 mo. minus 7 days. (Is that right, girls?) So like my LMP was 6/29, so every subsequent Thurs is another week for me (you start counting weeks right away, before you're even preg.) So, yesterday was my 6 weeks. (And, according to LMP, my edd is 4/5/06; according to O date it is 4/6/06 -- O date of 7/13.) ~~ Oh, and I grew up in Dallas! How funny.

I have to go eat my Sprite & saltines... you girls have a great day!

"
I'm curious about ab work/crunches - we NEED to keep those muscles strong, but I know that crunches and a lot of straining are out. Anyone have any ideas?"

Thats a good question since you are also not supposed to lie on your back to do excercises because of blood flow. I am thinking maybe a stability ball? I really need to tone my abs more since they were so stretched out from my last ginormous pregnancy. I have reduced my workouts (usually eliptical trainer) from around an hour to 35 minutes. I also work out at an intensity where I can still read for most of the workout (before I was a lot more intense) I am slacking off to every other day too since I have to get up at 5:30 to work out before hub goes to work and I just need my sleep! I lift a thirty pound toddler about a hundred times a day so I think that qualifies as strength training ;) I took a pg aerobis class last time so I think I may do that again in the 2-3rd trimesters.

On the dry mouth I have been chewing gum a lot so , my answer is yes. I am also HYPERSENSITIVE to smells which is not so great in the first trimester  So the peppermint gum helps that too.

Caffeine- I still am indulging in the occaisional Coke but I am trying to wean down to no caffeine besides my green tea in the morning. It also gives me the jitters so I know it can' t be great for the kid (although it is nice to have a little energy boost!)

My cramps just don't seem to be subsiding, I definately don't remember it being like this

Jane&Andy
08-12-2005, 08:05 AM
LittleStar - you count from the first day of your LMP. I think you just add 40wks to that date. I just found a pregnancy due date calculator online and slapped in my LMP and it gave me an EDD.

Stumbles - good luck at your doctor's appt Monday! thanks for posting your stats, I'll add them to the first page.

QOTD: I don't exercise nearly enough. Aside from walking my dog I'm not doing much of anything these days.

Cagey - I'm pretty sure I've heard that you are supposed to avoid ab exercises like crunches but I could be wrong. Hope you have fun at the beach next week.

My memory has totally gone caput. I can't remember anything. I had to go to Target two days in a row b/c I forgot to buy new vacuum bags the first time.

DH is working on our fence and we have a plumber coming out on Monday to start work on our bathroom. :) After all that is done we can start cleaning up the nursery and getting it ready. (I'm hoping to at least get it painted before it gets too cold).

thanks for the EDD calculation, txfish! I was wondering the same thing! According to my (suspected) O date, I should be 4/6/06. My last cycle was really wacky, and I wasn't charting, so I can only time things by when DH was out of town for 8 days and when he came back :p

Hi all! Sorry I've been a little MIA from this thread - I've been reading along but just not posting for whatever reason.

Welcome to all our new members! :D April is certainly getting to be a busy month for babies, isn't it?

I'm still having a hard time believing that I'm pregnant, but I have started feeling a little nauseous the past few days, so I guess that's a good sign. I just really can't wait for my OB appt - only 5 more weeks (sigh).

Jane - dentist should be fine, just no x-rays (although I don't think that even then you would have anything to worry about). I was in for my 6 month cleaning a few days before my + HPT.

Exercise - I swim laps 2-3 times a week and plan to continue throughout this pregnancy. Before my first pregnancy, I was in fairly good shape - ran a few times a week, did some strength training, and could crank out situps like crazy. Then, we moved into a new house (away from our gym), didn't join a new gym, and I got pregnant. It was also winter, so I didn't get a chance to walk outside very much. >40 lbs later, my DD was born and I felt like a big fat slug! So this time around, I do want to keep up the exercise, at least at some level. I won't do situps/ab work, though, b/c I had a bleeding episode (not a big deal, but still!) during my pregnancy with DD after doing situps (around 2 months) and it freaked me out. Just run your exercise routine past your OB and take it easy if you ever feel tired, etc.

Bella bands - please update us as to whether these work! My pants are already getting tight...

Jane&Andy
08-12-2005, 08:38 AM
bea_mama - my bella bands have shipped so I'll be reporting on them soon. These tighter clothes are just so much harder to deal with when I'm nauseous all day long.

Hi ladies,

Just popping in to wish all the newbies all the best and welcome! April is GREAT month to have a baby!

For those of you who have no symptoms, I wouldn't freak out too much. I had none with my son and have none now. Not having morning sickness is a blessing as I'm sure those who suffer from it will tell you.

I noticed on other threads people had gender predictions... I am SURE I'm having another boy. Just a feeling. Wondering if anybody else has a sense like that?

Kopper

gender prediction: I am thinking boy.

exercise: I was doing great until June going at least 4-5 times per week to a Boot Camp class I was in. Then we went on vacation and then we had a painter and did tons of work on the house. Now I'm just feeling lazy. I really need to start going again. I went once last week and DH and I walk the dog but I don't feel like that's enough.

caffeine: I haven't had any in almost two years so not an issue. :)

due date: I used FF's date which is based on my O date. If I used my LMP I would be almost a week further along which is incorrect for me since I always O CD18 or later.

symptoms: I been feeling nauseous a lot today. It comes and goes but mostly I'm feeling ok.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Hi ladies!

Thanks for the due date help. I think mine's April 23rd or thereabouts. I took another HPT yesterday and my temp's been staying up, so I'm feeling pretty good.

Caffeine - I haven't had any since getting my bfp on Tuesday. Wednesday I had a brutal headache, but thing's have been fine since then. I only had a 2 a day habit, so hopefully that's that.

Exercise - I had been feeling OK before getting pg, thanks to recently losing about 5 pounds (thanks to going off BCP's!), but definitely want to have a plan (and stick to it!) for exercising while pg. I'll probably continue going to dance class and trying to walk in the mornings or evenings, outside when it's nice or on the treadmill. I should also be more consistent with weight training so it's not a shock to my poor arms when I'm lifting a bundle of joy in 9 months!

Symptoms - I've been a little spacey these last few days, but think it's too early to blame that on pg ;)

Hi everyone,

I just got my BFP this past week, actually I have been testing since Monday, which came up really light. Then on Wednesday I couldn't wait anymore and I took 3 dollar tree tests that were also light as well. So, I went during lunch and got a CBED test and it came up PG! I also just retested and same result.

Congrats Gina! Welcome. :)

Gender prediction: I'm not really getting any boy or girl vibes. Since I want a girl I'll probably be having a boy. :p (not that boys are bad, I'd just like to have at least 1 girl and my sisters' youngest kids are girls so it would be fun for me to have a girl too).

Congrats and welcome Regina!

Gender I have no idea but I am leaning towards boy. But I think that is really just because I have a boy so I see myself with boys. Will be thrilled either way

Had my first appointment today. Baby is measuring 5 weeks 6 days which puts my due date at April 7. She did an ultrasound and to my surprise I got to see the little heart fluttering. I thought somehow it would not be as exciting the second time around but nope, I got tears in my eyes just like I did the first time. It is just so amazing. I asked for the same prenatals I was on last time, Premesis, because they have extra vitamin B6 which is supposed to be better for nausea so let's hope that helps now.
Hope everyone is feeling good. Here is an u/s pic. You can basically just see the sac and my little 3mm peanut!

Very cool Sal -- just make us drool with envy, why dontcha? ;) Glad everything went well & so glad you got to see the heart!

Congrats & welcome Gina!

I had to rubber band a pair of pants earlier this week -- they were an already somewhat-tight pair, but I felt so stupid. Really should order some Bellas.

Gender prediction: Well, I *really* want a boy, but it's probably a girl. Seems to be the un-ending trend in our family. Fingers crossed, though, as we were practicing a little gender-selection timing...

I get to go home early -- yippee! Have a great weekend & see you all on Monday :)

Sal I love your US pic! I can't believe you can already see the little heart beating..amazing!

Gina Welcome! Yeah, we are DD twins :):)

as for me..
caffeine Never really have any besides a rare "fru fru" coffee drink here and there

symptoms Fatigue! I am tired all the time no matter how much sleep I have. Also like littlestar I have been spacey/out of it.

exercise I planning on exercising untill the day I give birth if all is well! Right now I am doing 45 min of cardio and 15-30 min of weights 4-5x a week.

gender I don't really have any "feeling" yet, but since DH and FIL are both one of 3 boys, I am convinced I am having a BOY

I took another HPT today at 15 DPO (just because I wanted a dark line) and sure enough the pg line was darker than the reg line! Guess I'm really preggo :D

I'm feeling pretty lousy. Got some B6, crystallized ginger, lemon drops, and Lucky Charms  :p on the advice of a few LJ girlfriends... so hopefully they'll do the trick.

I have my ultrasound on Tuesday and I'm really hoping to see a sweet heartbeat. I have a lot of fears about going in, since I saw the heartbeat and then lost my last pregnancy.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Oh Sal your little guy is so cute! Ok now I'm getting teary over here.

I am in full sugar craving mode. I normally don't like sweets at all except when I'm pregnant. Its a curse :p

I really want another boy, but last time I wanted a girl and so I guessed boy and I got a boy. So knowing I want a boy I am going to guess girl- follow that?
 So anyhow I am still really really hoping for a boy.
As far as that gender timing, ours was strictly GIRL and we got a boy and this time again strictly girl, so we'll see....

Sal 03 - How exciting to see your baby on the screen!!! Just lovely! :)

I have my confirmation appointment tomorrow afternoon. I am so excited! :) I am pretty sure I'll be having my dating scan at 9 weeks like I did with DD. That's 5 weeks away.

It's so quiet in here... what is everyone up to??? ;)

Hello! Shocked as I am to be joining you ladies...here I am!

I haven't called the doctor's office yet, so I have no appointments lined up, but I'll update when the time comes. In the meantime, I'll respond to the last questions asked:

gender prediction: probably another girl :)

exercise: I do alot of walking, but nothing regular. Since I just had DD in February, it's been harder to make excercising a routine. In addition I started out my pregnancy with DD pretty overweight, and I'm 5 or more pounds up from that pre-preggo weight, so...we'll see :p

caffeine: mmmmmm....caffeine! During my last pregancy I abstained entirely throughout the 1st trimester for my peace of mind, but after that I did allow myself some caffeine here and there.

due date: I used FF's date which is based on my LMP. I had been charting to an extent, but not temping since I have such irregular wake times.

symptoms: I been feeling pretty nauseated. Mainly this happens when I have not eaten, and usually in the evenings. I'm also completely EXHAUSTED!!!

take care,
Marisa

All of a sudden my sense of smell is keen as ever and my bb's are also getting sore. Wonder what's next

SaphirimalMei

Mel - Same for me. Suddenly my bbs are sore and feel a bit more full. hopefully this bodes well as with Jilly my milk never came in. The LC said (hindsight being what it is) that my lack of significant breast changes during that pregnancy was a clue that I may have had probs, but...nothing I could do about that. So I'm hoping that my bbs grow like mad this time around LOL!

Sal03
08-15-2005, 06:20 AM
symptoms just that the nausea gets worse every day. I find that if I am constantly eating it helps. I just make sure to eat a small meal every 2 hours

SaphirimalMei welcome and congrats! just wanted to let you know that I had NO breast changes with my first pregnancy...even wore my same bras the whole time! And I nursed my son for a year. So I know you may have had other issues, but hopefully you will be successful this time and one pregnancy has nothing to do with the other.

akwifeandmomma good luck at your appointment tomorrow!

I've been trying to figure out a cute way to tell my parents we're pg. They live out of state, and my mom was just.here which would have been perfect, but she left the day before I felt comfortable testing. I might fly out there for a weekend, because I'd really like to do it in person. DH's parents only live a few hours away, and they're coming to visit us in a few weeks so we'll tell them then. Can't wait to tell *everyone* but that'll be a ways away. Thank goodness for CC.

Good morning everyone!

Sal - what a beautiful u/s photo! thanks for sharing!

Welcome SaphrimalMei and LittleStar! Congratulations!

We had a pretty good weekend, although I was tired and nauseous for most of it. I saw MIL for dinner on Saturday and told her our news. We were seeing FIL the next day and planned to tell him then. They're divorced and don't hardly speak to each other more than once every few years. Of course, they saw each other right after I told MIL (FIL was helping one of their kids move) and MIL blurted out our news to him. I don't know what she was thinking. But he didn't seem mad, we told him we had planned to tell him Sunday so its not like we were hiding it from him.

MIL is already talking about hosting a baby shower (it will be a tiny one - probably just family b/c I don't hardly know anyone here) and she wants to buy us our crib. She's mentioned that before but I wasn't counting on it really happening (its just the way things are with her, the thought is there but she isn't often able to follow through for various reasons). But if she really does come through for us it will be a huge help.

So most of my in-laws know now except for 2 more of DH's siblings that he still needs to call and his Grandmother (although MIL has probably already told her).

Bella Band Report: two thumbs up! with the nausea I just can't take wearing tight clothes anymore. So far I'm just wearing the bella bands under long shirts. They are snug enough that they keep my pants up but they also accentuate my pre-pg belly so they aren't particularly flattering at this stage when its all chub and not baby. But I would be in a much tighter spot for clothes without them. I did buy pants on Saturday morning in a bigger size too. That was very depressing so I bought a maternity shirt on sale to make myself feel better (remind myself that there's a good reason for my needing bigger clothes). Of course, the darned shirt is too small so I need to return it. :p

Jane, thanks for the Bella Band review. I hope to be ordering some soon. It sorta bums me out that I can't order the small size though since there are so many more colors. Black and white for me...

---
My symptoms aren't too bad right now. The nausea comes and goes but is manageable. Mostly the worst part is that I have been in some sort of funk the last few days. I don't know if it is hormone related or what but I just haven't felt like myself. Has anyone else experienced this?

ginandchris
08-15-2005, 11:38 AM
Thanks so much for the welcome everyone :)

As for me here are my answers on the previous questions:

symptoms: hmm, the same thing as everyone else with the smell I can smell things before my DH does. Also, the tiredness as well, as soon as I hit the pillow I fall asleep.

caffeine--the only caffeine I really drink is from green tea. Other than that I have been drinking water a lot!

exercise--I haven't been really consistent, so I figure I'll just do walking around my neighborhood after work.

gender prediction--hmm, both me and DH don't know, but my sis says its going to be a girl :p

It was fun telling our families this past weekend. For DH's parents we just told them, since they were planning a seafood dinner for us and kept wondering when my DH said, she can't eat that! For my parents we took a pic of the digital HPT and wrapped it up with bibs that said I love grandma & I love grandpa. When they opened both they were so happy and surprised! :D

Oh mel7dog and SaphirimalMei its great that we'll be due around the same time! :)

Hi all,

Boy, this thread is going to be moving way to fast for me to keep up with! :D Welcome to all of our new members!

Glad to see I'm not the only one who experienced the "dry mouth" thing. I drink a ton of water too, so that is what was weird. I noticed it more on the day I had coffee, so I think it had to do with the caffeine being a diuretic. So no more for me since last Thursday. I still have dry mouth on and off, but not as noticable.

Mostly the worst part is that I have been in some sort of funk the last few days. I don't know if it is hormone related or what but I just haven't felt like myself. Has anyone else experienced this?

Absolutely. I was a crazed person on Saturday. I don't know if it was the extreme heat, hormones, or a combination of the above but I was snapping at DH and DD all day. :( I told DH he had just better keep his distance from me, because I was a crazy pg woman. Today, I am just plain old TIRED. I have really no nausea to speak of (ok a few gags here and there) and NO sore boobs, but the fatique is kicking my butt this time.

My Mom's birthday is August 23. I will be a little fover 6 weeks then. Do you think I should tell her on her birthday? Its a little sooner than I had planned to tell (I was hoping to wait until 8 weeks) but I think it would be neat to tell her on her birthday. :)

Jane&Andy
08-15-2005, 12:31 PM
I don't think I've been in a funk, I'm just too tired to do much of anything. DH might answer differently though. :p

RileyMom - I think its a great idea to tell your Mom on her birthday but only if you are ready to tell her.

The plumbers started our bathroom remodel today. I can't wait to go home and see it, not that much has been done just yet. :D

First Dr visit 9/1/05

Jane Glad you Bella Band worked out. I think I have figured out what they are, but what do they look like, do they attach to pants? Also, how fun you have shower plans already in the works!

Welcome Littlestar!

RileyMom I agree with Jane that it would be fun to tell your mom on her b-day. As long as you feel comfortable and are excited to tell her.

As for me I finally got my first visit today. It was actaully scheduled for me since I have to be referred, but the lady said it was with a midwife, which is what I want! I thought 2.5 weeks felt long to wait, but I guess it is pretty soon so I feel lucky. I will be at the end of 6 w then, maybe an US?!

Today I finished reading my first full pg book

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/0764565168.01._BO2,204,203,200_PIsitb-dp-500-arrow,TopRight,45,-64_AA240_SH20_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

I had to man a station at work for 6 hours this morning, so I read like crazy. The books answered SO MANY of my questions! As of now, I am pretty set on having a natural birth (drug free) unless some complications arrise or I am in labor for days. My mother had 3 of them (36 hours with me!) and MIL had 3 of them, I know I can do it too! Has anyone else started thinking about med vs. med free birth?

My next book is in the mail:
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/073820949X.01._BO2,204,203,200_PIsitb-dp-500-arrow,TopRight,45,-64_AA240_SH20_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

I plan on reading like crazy! Doesn anyone else have any good recommendations I can add to my already large Amazon books list?!

Hi ladies :)

Welcome & congrats Marisa!

Exercise: I was trying to walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes about 4x a week, and then the fatigue got me, and now the nausea, and I haven't been on in a week and half. I'll try to get going again...

Symptoms: bb's actually *just* got a lot more sore. Weird. And of course the nausea; I haven't actually been sick yet but it's starting to be more of a possibility. Smells, I'm a little more sensitive. The popcorn bag from last night almost knocked me over this morning when I opened the pantry (trash can storage). Bleah. I am definitely feeling more sick when I don't have enough in my tummy -- but if I eat/ graze non-stop then I feel so bloated and gross.

Made it through the weekend w/out telling Mom, but it was close... we went out to a nice seafood restuarant on Friday with my brother, and they wanted to sit at the bar and order drinks & oysters on the half shell. And then a bottle of wine for the table at dinner... I was doing more sleight of hand than a magician. She definitely suspects, but won't say anything until I say so.

And, just found out that I will not get an early u/s, unless I can talk my dr. into it somehow ;) Bummer.

Back to work, wish I could go to sleep!

Jane&Andy
08-15-2005, 01:57 PM
my nausea seems to be tapering off in the afternoons/evenings now. thats a nice change. :)

mel - the bella band is just a wide, stretchy fabric belt. It doesn't attach to your clothes - it fits snuggly enough that it does need to. I'm wearing it folded in half so that it just covers the top of my shorts and keeps them on. I have a t-shirt on and I don't think anyone can tell that I'm wearing it (I don't dress up for work).

I have some pregnany books but I haven't done much reading yet. I don't know why, I keep thinking about reading them but then I do something else - usually fall asleep. :p

Txfish - I don't get an early u/s either. I'm disappointed but its not the end of the world. I'll be happy to hear the heartbeat next time I go.

Books I loved The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy just for fun. And a really fun book I got for DH was My Boys Can Swim. He loved it, we both laughed out loud. And for anyone who is planning on BFing, the best book I read was "So THat's What They're For: Breastfeeding Basics".

Natural vs. Meds Meds! i had an epidural the first time and I will be again

Hi ladies,

When did you guys start feeling queasy or have m/s? I'm at 4w2d, and I woke up this morning sick to my stomach. Don't know if it's too early. Also, is it possible to have heartburn first thing in the morning before eating or drinking anything? Would appreciate your thoughts. :)

Hope everyone has a great day!

Jane&Andy
08-16-2005, 07:14 AM
LittleStar - my morning sickness started at about 6w 1d. One week later and its starting to get better - not sticking with me all day and all night. I've found that as I start to get hungry I start to get nauseous so I try to eat something first thing in the morning. I don't know about heartburn in the morning, I don't have much experience with that.

I ordered a free swatch of this bedding
http://www.landofnod.com/landofnod/images/010122_regular.jpg
so that I could see the colors in person and it shipped yesterday. :) We do plan to find out the gender but would like the set up a gender neutral nursery. I know the colors are a bit boyish but I think I could easily girl it up with accessories.

Jane- thats so pretty for a boy or a girl.

I pretty much feel like assamafrass 24/7 so I will spare y'all the details
The dog puked in the living room yeasterday and the boy went to play in it so I had to rush in and clean it up, let me just say preganacy is not for the weak. It didn't go well...

I think we will probably wait until after the ultrasound next week to tell people and then we probably will just spill the beans. I don't think our families will be all that excited/suprised this time around now that both sides have grandchildren. C'est la vie. Plus two of my SILs who have been dealing with infertility are having kids in the next couple of months, one got PG and the other is finalising her adoption shortly so the focus is really on them. But truly I am just so happy for them. :)

I remember so many of you from your first time around on the WC boards! I am so glad to finally be here, and really hope everything goes well for all of us. This is so very exciting!! Wonderful Springtime Babies on the way!!

I am 4W1D, and haven't really felt much except some bloating, and some tender bbs. Not sick yet.

I do have a question for you guys... are any of your DH's freaking out? Mine told me yesterday that he's really frustrated with his job right now, and the news of the baby is stressing him out because now he feels like he can't change jobs. I am trying to be supportive (I always am really supportive of his decision to explore what he REALLY wants to do, but he just hasn't been able to find it...) Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated... It's getting me down, and all I want to be is happy, since we've waited so long for this. I got him a book yesterday at the bookstore, but I don't think he's up to reading about pregnancy right now. He's stressed about getting rid of half our stuff (we live in a relatively small house in San Francisco, and my office is what will become the baby's room) He's worried about money, even though we have been really responsible in saving for this and for our future. I know it's "normal" for the man to feel this way when he finds out he's going to be a father. I wish he'd tell a few of his friends so he can get excited too. I just don't want him to miss any of it! Any suggestions?

Hi ladies. I've been trying to catch up with this fast moving, rapidly expanding thread!

WELCOME KIMMIE!!!!!!! I remember you well from the WC and all your struggles and am SO happy for you! My husband did change jobs and was unemployed for a couple of weeks when I was about 26 weeks along with my son and it was no picnic. It was very stressful so I can relate to what you and your DH are going through. I wouldn't really worry too much about him not being that excited right now. It is a big responsibility but he'll warm up to it as he sees your excitement. When you have your first ultrasound or hear the heartbeat for the first time I'll bet he makes a complete about face. Try not to worry about how he feels and focus on how thrilled you are. This time goes so fast you won't believe it so just enjoy it as much as you possibly can. That is the advice I wish I had received!

Back to the old quote, it seems like there are lots of people thinking it's a boy. The April 04 thread I was in was really overloaded with boys so I wonder if this will be similar! I keep telling DH that it's a boy and he'd better get used to the idea... He's not convinced by my 'gut' feeling though and thinks we have to wait for the ultrasound!

Take care!

Ceallaigh

Hi everyone,

Welcome Kimmie...I'm sure it will just take some time for your DH to get excited about it. Some people take change differently than others. I agree with ceallaigh that after he hears the heartbeat or sees the u/s it will change his attitude. Btw, we like you live in a small townhouse and yup our "office" is going to be the nursery. :p

Littlestar--yes, I do have a little heartburn in the mornings as well. I notice it more after I've eaten certain foods the night before. Eating a lot of cheese and chocolate has that effect for me. Its not too bad, I'm still able to handle it, if it ever got too much then I'd probably take Tums, which is ok to take.

Jane--the nursery bedding is cute! I'm sure it will look great. :)

Other than that, I'm still trying to pick my dr. I've been getting referrals from friends and still doing some research as well. I hope to make a decision today. Have a great day everyone!

OMG Kimmiebride! :D

I am so excited to see you here! I lurk in the TTC over 35 thread (as an over 35er myself) and I can't tell you how pleased as punch I am that you are joining us! Congratulations and Happy and Healthy nine months to you!

As for the DH thing, I can commisserate. My DH also hates his job, and partly for that reason had the same reaction the first time around. He was also extremely concerned about money, and still is with a 2nd one on the way. I have no real advice, other than to just sit back and be patient. It is a little bit of a shock at first, but I am certain he will warm up to it. Once DH started seeing the baby on the ultrasound, and could see my belly getting big, started shopping at BRU ( :) ) he started to really get into it. Some of my fondest memories are browsing the baby stores with DH when I was very pregnant. Now, he feels sheepish when I remind him of how worried he was when he first found out I was pregnant. It takes a bit longer for men, I think. They naturally feel a sense of respnsibility for taking care of the family, and it is very scary for them. For the record, he still has the same job and still hates it.

Congratulations again and again! :)

Kimmie Congrats and welcome! I think all guys panic in the beginning because they suddenly will have a FAMILY and not just a wife to support. Plus I think they are not completely excited until they see an ultrasound. With our son, my DH was happy, but I think it just became so much more real to him when he saw him on the screen, when I started to show and especially when he felt him kick. Happy and healthy 9 months to you!

I'm measuring 7w, 5d and the baby had a good, strong heartbeat at 153bpm.

Feeling much better about this pregnancy sticking, since this is further than I was when I lost my last pg'cy (although I didn't find out that that babe had died until several weeks later).

I have an OB appointment on Thursday.

Glad your apt went well. How exciting to have an US so early, I don't think I get one as early as you all :( Glad everything looked good!

Thanks for making me feel so much better ladies!! I really needed that! Great to see old WC friends around here, and great to meet new people too! Jennifer, we're due date twins! Ok, back to work!

Thanks for the welcomes!

Kimmiebride - Cool. Glad to know I have someone to compare things to! :)

mel7dog - I didn't get an ultrasound until I was 21 weeks last time. It was like torture waiting that long. The positive was that there was no question of gender by then. Do you only get one ultrasound?

I have talked to three military mom's who used my clinic and only 1 of them got an US in the first trimester :( The others had to wait till about 20 weeks and only got one the entire pregnancy. I know DH and I will get a 3D one done on our own, but I was hoping for at least 2-3 with the MW. Guess I'll find out all the details at my first apt in a few weeks :D

Welcome Kimmie and JenniferEC! So glad you are joining us. The more, the merrier :p

Akwifeandmomma, that's awesome that you already got an u/s and heard the heartbeat. I'm so happy for you :)

Jakedog, ugh, sorry you aren't feeling well :(

I've been skimming several books: Girlfriends Guide; Prenancy Sucks; What to Expect When You're Expecting; and there's 1 more, I think it's Pregnancy Month by Month. I'm not getting too much out them just yet, since it's so early and I can't relate to the things that are being described...yet. But they're all still on my nightstand to remind me that I'm actually pg :D

Have a good night everyone!

Very jealous here of all the early ultrasounds. I havent even gotten a Dr's office to call me back yet :p Unfortunately the family practice we go to (that I have actually been a patient at since I was about 6 years old) doesn't do OB anymore, so I have to go meet with a stranger. I'm kinda bummed about that, but I guess since I'll be seeing them quite often over the next 9 months they wont be a stranger for long! Hopefully tomorrow I can finally get ahold of someone to get an appointment.

Books:
during my pregnancy with my daughter I liked
The Pregnancy Book by Dr & Martha Sears
Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy
What to Expect When your Wife is Expanding (DH didnt read it, but I did :D)

I really preferred The Pregnancy Book to What to Expect When You're Expecting. I really felt that while the WTEWYE had a lot of good information, of course, it had something negative on every page and it really got me down so I stuck with The Pregnancy Book. I also like the follow up The Baby Book about baby's first few years. Additionally The Breastfeeding Book was full of great tips & helpful information. The Sears' have a pretty "crunchy" view on parenting, but I guess that's part of why I like em :)

(takes a deeeeep breath) Do you mind if I join? I got my BFP a few days ago. This just does not seem real yet...

Here are my stats:

Screen name: uskiku
Me: 33
DH: 30
Married: 1/10/04
TTC: May 2005
BFP: 08/12/05
Due date: 04/24/06
Gender prediction: boy

Think that's it? Oh, actually, I do have my first appointment 8/22/05 -- I wanted to discuss my short cycles, but guess we'll talk about something else instead :D

Question: do you still feel lots of cramping and stuff going on "down there"? Do you occasionally experience sharper pains in the abdomen as well? I went to an aerobics class last night (low impact, avoided ab-work) and not only was I dead tired afterwards, during the night I woke up to some pretty sharp pains in my lower abdomen. Run to the bathroom, totally freaking out, but all was (and is) well. Drank some water and the pain went away. Oh, I don't know how I'm going to survive the next 8 weeks...

uskiku - Congrats and Welcome! I felt a lot of odd cramping that first week after I got my BFP. Now I just feel an odd twinge or cramp every once in awhile. I just take it easy when that happens.

Like several other people on here I won't get an u/s til 20wks. :(

akwifeandmomma - yay for getting the u/s and getting to see your baby. :D

I'm feeling pretty good today. I ate breakfast early and that really seems to help fight off the nausea.

We got our first baby gift yesterday - my sister sent us a set of cardboard books about a hippo, a toy that her daughter has enjoyed, and a Justin Roberts CD (he sings songs for kids in a folk song sort of way that is less painful for adults to listen to).

This is going to be a great thread! The numbers are growing like mad!

I'm very happy to say that I'm NOT using my OB from my last pregnancy. I really didn't like him at all. (I had to see him a couple of times a week in the last months due to high blood pressure and his total lack of bedside manner became a real issue!) In the end it was the doc on call that Easter weekend who performed a c-section on me and I loved her. I called yesterday and she agreed to take me as a new patient!!!! :D So I FINALLY have my 1st appt. and it's Sept. 14!! I'm not really freaking out because this is my 2nd time around and I know there's not much to be done anyway!

Just wondering if anybody else is doing the NUCHAL TRANSLUCENCY TEST? I haven't seen anybody mention it but it seems to be standard practice here in Canada at this point. I had it done with my son so my 1st ultrasound was around 12 weeks. When I called to make my OB appt. yesterday they said as long as I get in the office by the 20th of Sept. I'm fine since the test has to be done between 11-14 weeks.

Happy hump day!

CC Name: kb57
Me: K, 27
DH: B, 27
Married: May 7, 2005
TTC: we weren't
BFP: 8/6/05
EDD: 4/6/06

This is my first acknowledgement of my pregnancy anywhere (besides DH). It felt weird to even type what I just typed up there. We are only married 3 months as you can see, but we've been together over 8 years, lived together for nearly 2, but we really did not plan on TTC for at least another year. But God had another plan for us, I guess.
I used to be on WC too under a different name, but I'm going to keep it under wraps for now bc I'm not sure if I want to "out" myself yet, in case any of our family or friends venture onto this site for some reason. We have decided not to tell anyone until I am 12 weeks. My first appt is on 8/22 which is when I will be around 7 weeks.
I will probably start a journal too once I have the first visit (I think it will feel more "real" after that).
It's exciting to see other people due around the same time, even with the same due date. I hope this will be a wonderful journey for me and for everyone due in April 06.
Talk to everyone soon!

I just ordered a whole bunch of maternity stuff online. I may be getting ahead of myself here, but I am trying not to worry about it. I spent too much of my last pregnancy worrying my head off (I'd had a m/c and an ectopic before) and I'm just going to try and enjoy this pregnancy no matter what :)

Finally got ahold of a doctor's office (right across the street!) and I have my first appointment scheduled for:

Sept 16th at 4pm

Welcom kb! Hope you have a happy and healthy 9 mos!

uskiku--same thing as Jane said. sometimes the little twinges and cramps catch me off guard. But I know its just our baby growing :D

SaphirimalMei--that's great you were finally able to get an appt.

As for me, not much going on here. I don't know yet if I will get an u/s with my appt next week. My guess is probably not, but we'll see. Have great Wednesday everyone!

ceallaigh - We chose not to have any testing done last time and we're going to do the same this time. I got a bunch of stuff on all the tests at my appt yesterday but I haven't even looked over it. Unless my dr recommends something, we're skipping that stuff.

Jane&Andy - Congrats on your first gift. Have you bought anything yourself?

I went to PBK today and got the new stuffed monkey I had seen in their catalog. I want it to be a gift from DS to the new baby. And since we're keeping the nursery a monkey theme, it will go great.

My next appt is in three weeks on Sept 8. Not sure why 3 weeks, but that's what my dr. wanted. I can't wait, even though I know we won't hear the heartbeat just yet.

Welcome kb! :)

Okay, ladies. I've been experiencing some minor bleeding today. Its all really dark brown, old blood, mixed in with lots of CM. It was enough so that I actually "felt" it coming out (sorry, way TMI). I'm trying not to worry, because I had the same thing with my DD. I'm stuck here at work - I wish I could go home and put my feet up.

I called my OB's office and left a message 2 HOURS AGO.

Anyone want to tell me its perfectly normal and everything will be alright? :o

Sal03

Welcome KB and Uskiku!

Nuchal test We had it with DS and I am not positive we will this time. I probably will just end up doing it because then I get an extra detailed hospital u/s :D

Rileymom SO annoying your OB has not called back. I never experienced spotting but I have seen tons of threads on here about people posting that they had it (especially dark brown) and went on to have perfectly healthy pregnancies. So I am sure everything is fine. Hope your doc calls you back soon for peace of mind

Meanwhile I had a horrible dream last night, one of those really realistic dreams, that I went back to the doctor and they did an u/s and could not find the heartbeat. :( I think that is secretly my fear because I did not get a straight answer out of my doctor why she wants me back two weeks after my last appt. My mom just thinks it is because we are really close with her and she is being extra cautious so I hope she is right. I mean the size was right on target and the heartbeat was strong. So I am sure she is right. The first trimester is so nervewracking!

Thank you Sal! :) I think I needed just a bit of reassurance.

Well, ladies, I'm getting my wish. I don't know if this is a good thing or not, but I called my OB back and had her paged. They want me to come in this afternoon and get my hsg levels checked, and then go back on Friday and get them checked again. Then I will go in for a 6 week ultrasound next week.

I don't know whether to be happy about that, or concerned that they want me to come in? As I said, it is old blood and I had the same thing with DD. Guess they want to be on the safe side, huh?

Please think good thoughts for me today and Friday. On a good note, they told me that they should be able to find a heartbeat next week! Oh, please, please let us find a heartbeat!

RileyMom - I haven't experienced any spotting but from reading the boards brown (old) blood is definitely less worriesome then red blood. I'm glad your OB finally called you back. Yay for the u/s! I am sure they are just being cautious.

SaphirimaMel - yay for getting an appt and for new maternity clothes.

JenniferEC - I bought a few baby things while we were TTC - gender neutral clothes, blankets and bibs - they were all super cute and on super sale at the outlet mall. I figure some of the clothes may end up being gifts for any friends or family having babies if I don't use them all. My two sisters each have 1 boy and 1 girl so they have some handmedowns for me so I don't need to buy a lot of clothes.

Sal - I'm sorry about the bad dream. :(

RileyMom
08-17-2005, 01:26 PM
Sal In my panicked state, I did not read the part about your bad dream. That stinks. I'm sure its just that you are subconciously (and conciously) worrying about it all the time, just like the rest of us, so dreaming about it would be normal.

Jane&Andy Yeah, I'm pretty sure dark brown is okay. What is weird is that when I had this with DD, they just told me to lay down and put my feet up. And that was a high-risk OB. This OB doesn't seem to fool around, I like that.

Sal03 - Sorry to hear about your dream. I think everyone worries so much during the first trimester and that probably got into your dreams somehow. I'm sure everything will be fine and you have a healthy baby growing inside you.

RileyMom - I'm glad your dr is being proactive about it. Even if it is old, brown blood, it should be checked out. I never had any spotting with my DS and haven't had any yet so far. (I do check the tp everytime I go to the bathroom, though.) I'll be thinking about you this week.

RileyMom, take it easy honey! Welcome KB! Jennifer, the monkey sounds so cute! I think that's the theme I want for the nursery too. Just thinking about cleaning out this room is making me need a nap!!

Books: Just bought a couple of old lady preggo books at the store. I am reading cautiously. I just want to enjoy being pregnant right now, and not worry too much about all the things that can go wrong! I think that's what has possessed me to tell so many people too. I know if anything happens it will be hard to un-tell people, but I am just so danged excited about finally being pregnant! One day at a time...

Ok, about that nap...

Thanks for the welcome, ladies, it's so great to see so many April mommies around!!

RileyMom all the wisdom I've acquired from my lurking :p around the FP boards, suggests that brown spotting is OK. But it's good to know that they take stuff seriously, right?! Sending lots of good vibes to your way.

Ginaandchris and Jane and Andy thanks for reassuring me about the abdominal pain! I know that this little being inside of me cannot be bigger than a pin-head right now, but from what's going on in my tummy sometimes, it feels like someone's just moved in and now s/he is rearranging "furniture"... :D

Nuchal test we probably will get some testing done, but haven't decided yet. Need to do a bit more research on this.

Sal03 Sorry about your bad dream! This first trimester stuff is driving me up the wall -- I have a deep and ardent desire to be surgically attached to an ultrasound machine for the next 8 weeks, so that I can monitor the kiddo 24/7. On the other hand, maybe (just maybe) this wouldn't be such a good idea... I have trouble concentrating on work as it is!
