junk - Yay, Pierson, for taking steps!!! Piper still shrieks like a banshee if I even try to help her walk. And, oh my, feel better!
Shannon - Being a SAHM is the bestest, especially during the first trimester, when I think it should be law that all women get to stay at home if they want (with full pay of course) :)
elly - Glad to here you are both on the mend! We hit that exact type of sleep regression about a month ago - it sucked, and then it went away. :)
As for us...Piper and I had a LOVELY afternoon with very charming aprilshowers and her DD last week while they were in San Francisco. We took the kids to quite possibly the least child-friendly restaurant in the city, but had a great lunch (and later, yummy cupcakes!!) all the same. It was so nice to meet another March Mom in person after these 2+ years. :D

Nathan has the drunken sailor walk down now (which I love) and is talking up a storm (in his own little language). His favoriate word is WOW! We're heading down to Florida for the weekend (just Nate and me) and I'm totally nervous about flying alone at this stage. I've done it before but now when he was so mobile or loud.
Thanks Tuni for getting this started.
Oooo, I hope all you sick ladies get well very soon.

Hi all!! Been miserable lately. Meli is getting all 4 molars at once. Three of them have partially popped through. She is running a fever and been super clingy -- Poor kid. I'm super tired of work. I was at the office last night until 11:30pm. I'm seriously thinging about looking for another job, but on the flip I took today as a work at home day. And I work from home generally 2 days a week. I don't think I'll find that elsewhere. At least not initially.
BELATED HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
Thanks Tuni for getting the new thread up!

Thanks for the new thread Tuni!
We have our follow-up appt with the ENT in, oh, about 40 minutes. :) He's been doing so well with the tubes, I can't imagine the Dr. will say anything different.
We have one volume, it seems: 11 (just like Spinal Tap). :o Screeching so loud it practically shatters glass. Still doing tons of Uh Oh's and Dadadada with some Mamama/Nanana when he's tired/whiney.
He also blows extremely spitty raspberries, does "bladabladablada" with his tongue out and will sometimes give kisses on demand. :)
We can stand unassisted for 2-3 seconds sometimes, so I don't think walking will be too much longer. We're not super worried as DH's niece didn't walk until 17 months and she's a big girl, just like G.

I wondered when they were going to kick us out! ;)
Thanks so much for the new thread!!
Sorry to hear that there are so many sick babies and moms running around. Lucas has been one of them as well. All last week he just wouldn't eat much, and about all he would do is drink milk. The daycare in the past 3 weeks have had strep go around, contagious diaherra and hand, mouth and foot! He got sent home on Friday for 2 diaherras in 1 hour. But of course, that's when he started feeling better finally!
He's running around like a madman, as usual, and I started taking him to and from daycare in my convertible iwth the top down in the past 1 1/2 weeks. He likes it okay, but doesn't like that blast of sunlight. Unfortunately, he get the sun top up or down. ;)
Had a great Mother's Day here, our 5 year anniversary and Mother's Day were 9 days apart, so I got an anniversary band for Mother's Day that DH had Lucas give to me in the morning, it came in this little mini-purse looking box. It was very cute. I also got a flowerbed in the front of our house on Saturday, and a BBQ on Sunday with both mine and his family.
Then on Monday, I got another BFP! Happy be-lated Mother's Day to me! :D
Hope everyone's doing well!

Have to finish getting ready for work.

Sorry to hear about all of the sickies!
For the RO's out there... how did you decide it was time to start trying? I know we want two. And there are pros and cons to start trying now or a year from now, but both basically cancel each other out. Any thoughts? Anyone else having this debate?

Congrats MCD!!
It's been a while since I posted, but I've been reading along :). I had to stay home from work on Friday with Sean b/c he was running a fever and was super cranky. Then Saturday after he was better I felt the little culprit in his mouth that caused all the problems Friday----his first molar!!!
He had his 15m WBV yesterday
Weight: 23 1/2 lbs.
Length: 32 inches
He also gave him the go ahead to eat pretty much anything except shellfish. We also still need to work on eliminating the bottle. We're down to 3 a day now and he wants us to only give him one at night if necessary. He's a really good eater so I'm not too worried, but I still feel like it's going to be a challenge.

Awww, man, this totally breaks my heart. TODDLER? Yikes.
Thanks Tuni - great job. Although it seems like yesterday you made our last thread.
I'll tell you gals something, I haven't had an ear infection for YEARS until now, and since getting a double doozy ear infection, I really feel for our little lambs. They SUCK! It is awful.
MCD!! Rock on girl, BFP city around here, eh?
JennW, love the new Avatar -- so cute!
Bunny - glad you all are back on the mend but poor Nicky :(
KDOTP: ROTFLMAO - re: Volume 11 and Spinal Tap (first, I LOVE the movie but....) we've got the same thing goin' here.
Jordan: We're flying solo at the end of the month as well. It's Pierson's eighth flight but I'm really nervous, too. Of course all his fave toys are the noisy electronic ones so that should be lovely. The flight will be 5 1/2 hours if there are no delays so you could say I'm dreading it big time.
What else............thanks to everyone for the well wishes on the move to CA. I'll be staying home with P. I must say I really miss working but I suspect after a few weeks back I'd probably miss being home with the little guy so whatchagonnado.
Time for my antibiotic eyedrops. Kisses to everyone and I'll be back later.

Happy Belated Mother's Day everyone!
Congrats MCD! YAY!
Seth has been taking steps for a couple of weeks now, but I think he is really on the brink of full out walking. He can stand himself up now without pulling up on anything. (And he does it on command- if I ask him to stand 9 times out of 10 he just stands up and grins at me!- it's nuts!) So I think the world is REALLY about to change. He's walking mischief.
He has a few words. He says "Bung" for bottle (sippy cup, really, but we've been calling it bottle) and when he gets really excited it's more like Bung-ung-ung-ung. He calls our dog Homer "Moma" but with a very demanding tone. It's pretty funny. He says "Ba" for ball and "Buh" for book and kind of says dog. He finally made the connection that Homer is a dog, so that was cool. He also says "dapa" for diaper, and his favorite activity of all time is to put the dirty diaper in the diaper champ and turn the handle. Pure joy. Weirdo.
Out of the blue last week he started HATING his bath. This happen to anyone? Literally, Tuesday he was so happy and didn't want to get out and Wednesday and screamed and fought and cried for the whole bath. He's been crying and fighting ever since. I don't know what to do. Any thoughts? We've still been using the Eurobath. Is it time for the big tub?
Thanks, Tuni, for the new thread. I've been reading along diligently, but I rarely get time to post.

Thanks for the new digs tuni!
Congratulations MCD!! When is your edd?
We went to the hematologist yesterday because Noa has been getting petechiae (small broken blood vessels) since January. We wanted to rule out a blood disorder/disease, which we don't think she has b/c she's otherwise been acting fine, not bruising easily, etc. So they did yet another blood draw and we should get the results next week.
Other than that, she's currently working on tooth #12. She's still pulling up all over the place and letting go to see how long she can stand by herself (loves this "game"!). Not cruising yet. Been working on that in pt.
Alrighty, better get some work done.

ah, now I know why I wasn't getting any notifications. We've moved!
I haven't posted in forever, but I do try to follow along. I hope everyone who was sick, is now on the mend.
Congrats to MCD!
Nothing too new here. Phoebe is just so sweet and easy going. She is a real joy. She has a few words, and about 10 signs and is just fun to be around these days. She isn't walking, but she could if she wanted to. I think she lacks confidence. She can stand on her own for an eternity, but she will not move her feet. She'll clench her toes and shake her head "no" and then sit down!! Stinker. She walks fine holding one hand and has been crusing since she was 7 months old. I thought for sure she'd walk early. HA!!
She's down to one nap most days, but it's the mornning nap. Anyone else's kid drop the afternoon nap and not the morning nap? I think I remember reading that someone else had a baby who did that. She naps when we get home from the gym until I have to pick up her sister. She doesn't get overly cranky at night, so . . .
She's still a skinny little thing - she's wearing 6-12 mos clothes, but with her cloth bubble butt I can get her into some 12-18 mos pants. She eats like a horse, so I'm expecting a growth spurt any day now. :)
I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day.

That's us! Owen naps (usually) from about 8:30 - 9:30 in the morning (he gets up at 6:00 am) and that's it for the day until bedtime (6:00 pm). He gets really tired and sometimes cranky right before bedtime but is usually relatively happy so I don't really mind the non napping.

Checkin' in to our new digs...thanks Tuni for getting the thread started.
Ben's walking more and more these days, which is fun and exciting, but nerve-wracking too.
Hubby and I are heading out tomorrow for a long weekend trip to the Bahamas sans baby. It'll be fun, but I'm a little sad to be leaving my guy...though I have already left him a number of times for business trips.
I have a couple of QOTDs...which hopefully will help give me some advice as I am feeling like a clueless parent these days.
Eating: eating is NOT fun in our house these days. Ben hardly eats, and you never know what mood he'll be in that day. One day, he can't shove goldfish in his mouth fast enough, the next day, he smashing them, flinging them off the tray, etc. We've tried feeding him, letting him feed himself, putting a lot down on his tray, putting just a few bites on his tray, sitting with him while he eats, leaving him alone (while we're still nearby) so he doesn't feel like he has an audience, etc, etc and every day it just seems to get worse and worse. He is a skinny boy, so I want to make sure he eats enough, but I'm running out of ideas. What do you do to get your kids to eat well and what types of foods work well in your house?
Tempers/discipline: We've had this discussion before, but as our babies get more and more of the toddler personalities, I'd like to chat about it again...what are you doing for discipline? Ben seems to be throwing more temper tantrums these days. He sits on the floor and throws himself back...I try to catch him so he doesn't whack his head too hard (he's usually on a hard floor) and then walk away. They usually end pretty quickly, but they're getting more frequent. Its easy to ignore them at home, but what do you do out in public??
Ok, I need to get some more work done before vacation...

heidi0622- Sean really loves spagetti. It's probably one of his favorite foods. Other things that he'll eat are those gerber graduate finger foods. I know I could probably get the stuff and cut it up for a lot less, but they are so convinent. He loves the carrots and peaches. He also loves nilla wafers. He's such a good eater though that I don't mind if he gets some sweets every now and then.

eating: I've gotten lots of good ideas from this thread (http://www.constantchatter.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31728). Overall, Noa is a very good eater so that's one thing we don't have t worry about. She will not feed herself veggies but if I put a little spaghetti sauce (Bertolli organic is good!) on them and spoon-feed them to her, she'll eat them up. Yes, we have sauce on peas and green beans...whatever it takes to get her to eat her veggies. She loves Morningstar black bean burgers and veggie burgers.
discipline: Don't really have to worry about this yet but I'm curious to see what other people are doing. Recommend any good books? I'm clueless other than I know we're not going to hit/spank.

Owen likes pretty much any food but then again we’ve been feeding him a lot of high fat foods to help him gain weight, so what’s not to like? LOL Even though we’re doing high fat, I try to keep them relatively healthy except for a treat now and then. For example, he eats veggies with a tiny bit of butter or olive oil, fruit in pancakes or whole milk yogurt, and all types of meat. He also loves bagels with cream cheese (in small pieces). He does better if I give him a few pieces of food on his tray at a time. If I put too many he starts waving his hands across the tray to brush them off. He thinks it’s a funny game. I also have to sit with him or he will throw it all to the dog. He suddenly hates being fed with a spoon.
I’d like to find a way to get him to eat more fruit since his preference is veggies. He’ll eat apples or bananas but he doesn’t seem to like the consistency of other fruits. I’m pretty sure it’s a texture issue since he liked all the fruit purees. Any ideas?
Another weird thing he doesn’t like much is most starches. He doesn’t like potatoes or bread (except for bagels) that much. I find this so strange.
Discipline: None yet. We haven’t reached that point but I’d love to hear what everyone else is doing as I’m sure we’ll be there soon!
Have any of you taken your kids to the beach? We’re planning a family trip to the beach in August and I’m not sure what to expect. I don’t know if he’ll be walking by then but hopefully he’ll enjoy the beach even if he’s not!

Andrea - those are soooooo cute! A little pro in the making!
-----------------------------
Discipline - Almost afraid to type this....shhhhhh....we haven't had a tantrum yet but I'm sure it's on the horizon very soon. When he does something like touch a table he shouldn't I say NO very sternly but not much beyond that. If he's a major wiggle worm on the changing table after I've asked him to sit still for a diaper change I pretty much do the same thing. Thus far, all the discipline I've done so far.
Food - oh it sucks. Still on babyfood. And oatmeal. And yogurt. That's it. Can't WAIT to get to the occupational therapist in CA. I'm freaking out mildly now - things he WOULD nibble, like a Cheerio or cookie -- out the window -- may as well be a dog biscuit. Sigh. So food -- if he decides he even WANTS to eat (and we've had days of nearly nothing, BTW) it's all purees. I did read it's normal - not wanting to eat. Some toddlers go THREE DAYS  without eating; beyond that, a parent should call the pediatrician. I'd go crazy if P didn't eat for 3 days. We're not quite that bad yet.
QOTD's
feeding This is a constant struggle because Mattias just wants to play wiht his food. He's also learned to spoon feed himself, but he's bad at it and gets more food on his bib than in his mouth - but he doesn't want us to spoon feed him at all. *sigh* I make him little mini veggie pizzas using Trader Joe's dough and he LOVES those.
Discipline - We need to really focus on this, but it's hard because his language is so limited still. He's getting out of control with the climbing and the running and the throwing (especially the throwing), so I want to pick up a copy of Love & Logic and see this will work for us. Saying "NO" has become a bit of a fun game for him.

yby - That book looks really interesting. Thanks for the link. It seems to have the ideals that I want so I will pick up a copy and hopefully learn a lot!
Food: Well, Miss Eva is a little piggy and eats everything we eat. Tonight she had Pad Thai and we were shocked by how much she like that. Oh, yes, it had peanuts. Thanks to my mom, peanut butter was introduced two weeks ago. Thank goodness, no reactions.
Discipline: Thank you so much for bring this up because this is something dh and I have been talking about quite a bit lately. I am fearing we might be on Nanny 911 in a couple years. I am definitely going to pick up that book as well. The Dayschool Eva attends asked us to use stop instead of no. It worked for awhile, but now she just ignores everything. And, oh boy, do we have tantrums. She is definitely pressing to be in control already and I've basically learned to talk to her whether or not she understands and walking away and ignoring her when she is out of control. Sounds horrible, but the more I pay her tantrums attention the more she has them. Again, I need to get a book.
ETA: Congrats MCD! Welcome to the RO club!
Adorable pictures Ajb!
Someone asked when we knew we were ready for #2. Although, it really doesn't apply to us, I didn't want to ignore your question. I think I mentioned it, but we weren't really ttc. We were hoping to wait until the fall, so basically I wasn't prepared for this at all thinking we had a few more months. Thinking about it now, I am not sure I would have been ready in the fall either, so I am actually quite happy it happened the way it did. After having Eva, I realized no matter how much I read or tried to prepare, nothing I did prepared me for this past year. I am assuming the same for #2. I just wish my family lived closer, so I would have all the help in the world.

MCD CONGRATS!
Andrea What a cutie pie :)
food Jocey is one of the oldest babies here. She eats all table foods and eats 3 meals a day and a snack or two. She eats just about anything. She still has one bottle at night before bed.
discipline This is the age where I remember Zoey starting to act "2." I think Jocey is so used to be being pushed and having toys taken from her, that she is pretty laid back. We havent had a tantrum yet except for the separation anxiety instances.
TTC I dont think there is an answer for this one. We werent TTC when I got pg with Jocey but baby #2 was on the back of our minds. Zoey was just so easy and we wanted to add another one. This time things are harder and baby #3 isnt even in the brain ;)

woohoo! thanks for the new thread tuni! so lucky you got to meet aprilshowers! glad to hear that your sleep regression was temporary. i'm so hoping it's the same for us.
jennw ha! if we got owen and james together they'd have the perfect eating habits. james loves every fruit he's ever tried, but won't touch a vegetable with a ten foot pole. although he does love amy's organic vegetable lasagne, wish i could feed it to him everyday, it's so easy!
eating not the best lately, especially since he was sick. he's lost some weight so we'll need to step up the feeding. it's exhausting cooking for this little guy sometimes. gosh am i in for it in 5 months!
discipline our nos are mostly met w/ smiles and a continuation of whatever he was doing  . i feel like i lose it a lot easier these days since he's been so whiny and clingy, i miss my little mr. independent. we also have the tantrums, almost identical to heidi's. i'm sure the fun is just beginning.
timing of #2 i honestly don't think there is a "perfect timing" for #2. i think there are pros and cons to any time frame. for us, it happened a couple months before we thought we'd start ttc. while it happened sooner than i ever imagined i'm happy/relieved we didn't have to go through the agony of ttc for 18+ months like we did with james.
andrea cute pics! love when james does that baby squat.

Happy Thursday, all!
I am really liking all the discipline tips, especially from those of you with older kids who have been through this before. I ordered that book and am looking forward to getting some info before O starts his tantrum phase. I am so not looking forward to that. Growing up we had no discipline, rules, etc. and I am determined to find a system that works for our family to avoid the same trap my mom got herself into.
So I spotted at least one molar up there today and I think we're also working on another one on top. Two of the I's are also coming in and he got a new bottom tooth last week as well. This is pure torture! I can't wait until he has them all, already!
Junk - I don't think no is a bad word. I give Owen a loud No if he is doing something I don't like (like flinging food for example). Then I try and tell him why I said No and why he can't do whatever he is doing. He seems to have no idea what I am saying but he looks at me earnestly and maybe it will sink in eventually.
Tracy - She is so cute! What a great Mommy-daughter pic!
Oh geez, I had no idea "NO" was a "no" in terms of discipline. I *need* that book - thanks Yvette -- gonna order it ASAP. So what else should I not say when I am correcting Pierson. Yikes.
I wouldn't say it's a no at all to say "No." There are just times where it isn't going to work and we need to come up with something a bit more constructive to get the point across. :)

CONGRATS MCD!!!
Love & Logic - Just a head's up on this book...I checked it out from our library, and was surprised at how Christian faith-based it was. Each chapter starts with a quote from the Bible, lots of references to God, etc. (In no way saying that is bad, or that it doesn't contain good info...but I stopped reading because I personally found it a bit dogmatic for my Unitarian tastes.)
discipline - When I say no or stop, Piper looks momentarily stunned...and then goes right back to what she was doing. Honestly, it is a lot like trying to discipline our cats. The only thing I've found that really works is redirection.
eating - Piper doesn't eat much these days either, and I can't seem to get those vitamin drops in her no matter how hard I try. We've tried everything you mentioned too, heidi - I totally sympathize. I always laugh about the "What is Your Child Eating" thread because I'm never sure if I should write what she was offered or what she actually ate. For example, at yesterday's lunch she was offered whole wheat pasta with spinach, goat cheese, and tomato sauce, plus turkey sausage and some cantalope. She ended up eating two spoonfuls of yogurt and a fistful of graham crackers. She also refuses to be spoonfed at this point - if the spoon comes out, she's driving that car, no matter how badly she manuevers the vehicle! Ah, well. Gotta practice I guess.
tray - OMG she is sooo cute! Love the ponytail!
timing of #2 - I agree with elly...I don't think there is a best time. My brother's three children are 9, 5, and 1, and he wishes they were closer together. One of my best friend's daughters are 22 months apart, and she wishes she had waited a bit longer. On that note, I got my first +OPK in almost two years yesterday, so finger's crossed for an O!! We're going to wait this cycle out and then start trying next cycle. Very exciting and scary!!!
walking - I am trying really, really hard to accept that Piper will walk in her own time, and that her own time just happens to be a little later than most other children. But I have to admit that playgroup is hard right now - out of 10+ kids, some as young as 12 months, she is the only non-walker in the group. She cruises, but very slowly and deliberately, and yesterday was the first time she ever let go and just stood on her own for a few seconds. She is also way more interested in playing with me than with other kids at this point.
CONGRATS MCD!!!

Thanks for the heads up. I'll try checking it out in the library instead. If I like it, then I'll buy it.
I wish re-direction worked better for us. Mattias just gets so focused on what he wants to do that nothing really deters him. He'll give up after a while of us interfering with him, so that's good. :)

Tuni, we are in the same boat (actually our boat is probably behind yours as we’re not even cruising and he has only been pulling up for a month). Try not to stress too much. Pip will walk in her own time. Owen’s ped is not worried in the least at his progression. Sure, he is on the later end of normal, but normal nonetheless. I’m guessing Owen won’t be walking until closer to the very late end (hopefully by end of summer/early fall). It’s tough when you’re comparing to kids of the same age that are further along in their milestones, but in the grand scheme of things, it really doesn’t matter at all. They will all get there eventually!

G's favorite game is to pull up on the tv stand (it's only about 2' high) and push the big, shiny on/off button on the TV over and over and over again because it lights up and makes fun little "bededebeep" noises. He *knows* he's not supposed to touch it because he gets this little look on his face like "ha ha look what I'm doing!" and checks to make sure we see where he's at and then starts laughing (the punk!). I always say "We don't play with the TV" and move him over to some other toys, but the little stinker is so cute, I can't help but smile/laugh which totally negates me redirecting him, but whatev.

Tuni - Thanks for the new thread!
Walking - Campbell still isn't walking either. He can't stand unsupported either, he just doesn't have the balance. He just started taking steps if we hold his hands. He definitely seems more interested now that Nicholas is walking (He only started walking about a month ago). Nicholas is very cautious and was able to stand unsupported long before he even took a step (about 3 months). Campbell is definitley more of a risk taker some I'm hoping his progression will be quicker, but you never know.

In my opinion, the cautious, late walkers are almost more dangerous. A was so good at cruising, especially behind push toys that she could keep up with her brother. I truly thought she'd never walk. Within two weeks we went from a few unsteady steps, to walking independently a few feet to standing independently, getting to standing independently to walking across the entire first floor (kitchen, dining, and living rooms). Sometimes they're more conservative and cautious, but then WATCH OUT!

This is going to be quick because I think the little guy woke up...
Eating We're very lucky because once he got over his texture issue (which was all of a sudden) he will eat anything!
Discipline "No" doesn't generally work, redirection works only sometimes. Sometimes he's so focused on what he's not supposed to be doing that he will go right back to it. I did give him his first time out yesterday, after the second time in a row he bit me. I ignore temper tantrums.
Walking AJ has taken steps but at the most three or four and it's kind of rare. So I don't say he's walking yet, he will still crawl to get where he wants to go 98% of the time. Although I know he will walk on his own time, it's kind of annoying because someone will ask me every day if he's walking yet.

Well my mom found something very interesting on the top of Pierson's neck this morning. It's sort of where his neck and bottom of his chin meet -- beneath the tongue.
It's a "nodule" or lump -- smallish but it makes me wonder if this could be what's holding him back from eating? It doesn't seem to hurt. It is just perfectly placed, IMO, to be an impediment for chewing and swallowing.
We have a followup for the ear infections and pink eye this week so I'll ask the ped to have a look. Very curious, indeed.

PIPER STTN!!! PIPER STTN!!! PIPER STTN!!!
:D :D :D
I put her down at 7 pm, and she called for us at 8 am. Naturally, I'd been up on and of since 5:40 am, convinced she was dead, and I am very, very proud of myself that I didn't go in her room and, you know, poke her or something. :)
In other news, despite my +OPK (followed by two high temps and then a precipitous drop), AF showed up this evening for the first time in almost two years. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that PIPER STTN!!!!!
Am now officially back in the baby-making game!

Tuni: Wahoo! Marvy-loso! It's amazing to get that first full night of sleep. I have been hesitant to say so but P's been STTN somewhat regularly these days. Our babes are quite alike, no?
JennW: Hoping the nodule solves the mystery, that's for sure.
------------------------
Other health news -- AMOXICILLIN ALLERGY ANYONE? We've had it before for ear infections but on Saturday I noticed a welt on Pierson's neck, then one on his forehead, and Sunday morning he woke at 4am screaming and itching all over - covered from head to toe. At the time I didn't know it was Amox allergy. Thought it might be berries.Four hours later urgent care gave him baby Prednisone and Benadryl and we're on the road to recovery. YAY! FYI it' was a delayed reaction so if your DC was OK on it once, it might happen to you. Just be aware.

Yay Piper!!!! Now keep the trend going so mommy and daddy can do some BDing!!! ;)

I've been wondering where everyone went then finally remembered that we got moved. Whoops:rolleyes:
Although, nothing terribly exciting to report from here. Maura is finally learning how to get down from things that she gets up on. She loves to get up on the hearth but would just stand there hollering until someone got her down. She won't go down the entire flight of stairs to the second floor on her own but will with our guidance.
She's started furrowing her eyebrows at us and giving us dirty looks. Aiden used to give some very serious looks.
We think she has a bunch of words and even a short sentence but aren't positive. "What doing?" being the sentence. Oh, and "hi kitty-kitty" (her version of it, anyway). But, it could just be that that is what her babbling sounds like:) Aiden didn't talk much until he was two and his first word was at about 18 months.
She's still seriously bow-legged which is pretty cute when she tries to run.
And she eats as much as Aiden does yet is still a tiny girly.

Poor Pierson. Poor little guy! I feel so bad for him- and you.
Go Piper!!!!! Awesome!
Nicky is starting to say a lot of words now. We get woof woof everytime he sees a dog. Hi, buh bye, da da, mama, pop pop, and whenever he drops something he says- OOOHHHH. LOL There are some others also.
Oh- he also started doing stairs last week. He goes up with no problem, but going down is another story.
Poor little pierson! I hope he is feeling better!
Yeahhhhhh for Piper! I hope this sticks for ya Tuni! Sending baby dust your way!
Words: Good to hear there are other babblers out there! Eva is repeating everything at the moment. She seems to talk more when da da is around though. Since Eva is the 1st grandchild on both sides, she is queen of selecting the names for Grandma and Grandpa. Suddenly the names came about this past week, Naaa Naaa and pop pop. For some reason, she says pop po for my step father. I am curious what she will choose for my dad. The word game is fun and she is understanding us quite a bit lately. I can tell her to go get things or do a few things and she actually understands.
We are also experiencing the climbing phase and not just with the stairs. She has the wooden Bratt block push cart and she will push it up to a side table, climb on top of the cart and attempt to get on top the table. She also has a little rocker, I've walked out of the room once and returned only to find her standing on top of it wobbling back and forth. She has been scaring the crap out of me lately.

Another set of Ear Infections here. We finally have the referral to the ear nose and throat dr. Hopefully this will put us out of our misery
Words: We too have a jabber her favorite thing at the moment is to read books. She sits there and reads all day long.... Hopefullly it sticks..... She also loves to throw things and Say WOW or ohhh and then clap.
She however gets really quiet around strangers... It takes her a good thirty minutes to warm up even to family
Climber. We have one too. Her favorite thing to climb is the sofa and side table. We are constantly after her to stop.
Someone asked earlier about Baths she started really loving baths but now she will not take one without someone in the tub with her. If we do not get in she screams.
Sleeping - she hates to sleep. We wake up at least 2 times a night to eat still... you would think we never feed her.
We are taking a trip next week with her and I am not looking forward to it. She hates to sit still for a even a little bit.

Owen has been up since 5:00. Oh the joys of teething! Yesterday he clung to me like wet clothes. My poor pathetic boy. One def broke through and I see 3-4 more under the surface ready to break, including two molars. I can't get a good look at the bottom molars. If I try I may lose a finger.:p
Books are a favorite around here, too. It is the only thing that will quiet him down when he is screaming from teething. I have been reading to him for hours on end. He just liked to sit on your lap and be cuddled until he feels better. He also will not eat hardly at all with this teething mess.:(
We have a major climber, too. I didn't expect this at all since he is not very mobile yet but he is climbing from one thing to another, to another until he is pretty high. It's scary.
Words: No mom, ma, mama or mommy yet. But we have dad, uncle, doggy and bub (his other name for the dog). We also have a phrase he uses all the time that sounds like "I did it." I don't think that's what it is but it's def something.
He started "giving 5" this week. No clapping yet though. He did it by accident this weekend and got really excited but he hasn't repeated it yet.
QOTD: - Am I the only one still dealing with pregnancy weight? I am working my butt off dieting and working out like mad but it is slow going. I've lost about 12 pounds in 5 months and I'd like to lose another 15 or so.
ETA another QOTD: We seem to be dealing with a cold/stuffy nose. This always seems to happen when teething. Anyone else? I'm not sure if this is coincidence or if there is something to it?

QOTD #1: Weight. Ugh. I have no idea how much I weigh BUT my baby belly is still there. It's a jelly belly and it won't go away. Granted, I haven't done squat to get rid of it but still...it's gross. I am pretty much the same as pre-preg everywhere else, butt is rounder, but otherwise, the belly is flabby. The tons of carbs aren't helping, BTW....Once we get out of NJ I'm going to work on that.
QOTD#2: Snotty teething. Yup. I actually brought him to the ped thinking he had a bad cold and nope, the DR said it was in fact teething -- the upper molars were coming through and it impacts the sinuses. Crazy, eh?

teething/stuffiness G always gets a runny nose when teething.
weight loss After a lot of work, I'm almost back to my pre-pg weight, but my body is definitely different. I can't fit into my cute pre-pg clothes due to my now-wider hips and thighs (because they weren't wide enough to begin with). I still want to lose about 15-20 more lbs.
I can't stop thinking that G just isn't learning/developing very quickly. I know babies go on their own pace and all, but still. And I think it's our fault because we don't work with him. It's hard because it seems there's just no time. On a typical weekday, he's up and out the door around 7:30 to go to daycare. By the time DH gets home with him after work, it's usually around 6. That gives us time to make/eat supper (1 hr), go on a walk (30-40 mins), play for a little bit (30 mins) and then it's time to get ready for bed. I don't know. I want to just be able to enjoy the little time I *do* have with him.
It also doesn't help that I got about 3 hours of sleep last night because someone kept waking up every 30 mins and needed to be rocked back to sleep. Just as I would crawl back into bed and start falling asleep, he would be fussing/crying again and I would have to get back up and soothe him down. Ugh.

completely flaked on the thread, sorry guys! I didn't relaize we'd moved! I am *so* not ready to be part of the toddler area, where did our babies go?
Thinks are going well here, my picky eater has finally mastered feeding himself chunks! I was getting a tad worried I'd be pureering his wedding cake :p He's been walking since before his first birthday but has finally figured out how to stand by himself without pulling up. he also finally clapped a few weeks ago, and can now blow kisses (including sound, it's so cute!) Sleep is good, usually STTN or up once, totally manageable. The big sleep new sis we no longer have to rock him, he's putting himself to sleep! This is huge for us :D
TTC #2 won't be happening until the New Year at the earliest, I graduate (fianlly!) in december, so I want to get a f/t job before getting pg so I can take advantage of the mat. leave next time around. Logan starts p/t daycare in sept though because of my school schedule. I am really dreading it!
Tomorrow's my 27th birthday, and for a present my husband is sending me to a hotel overnight and to the spa! My BF's birthday is a week later, and her husban dis doing the same, we are going to have so much fun! It will be only the second time away from Logan overnight, but I'm feeling much more secure about it this time.
I'm having aheck of a time pumping for it though, it's frustrating. I've never had a problem pumping until now. Logan nurses ~5 times a day now, so I guess I'm making just enough milk. He doesn't have any dairy yet (well, cheese and ygurt yes) and I really don't want to introduce that now. I'll just have to keep trying!
We're moving!! We've found a great house, MUCH bigger than this tiny townhouse. We're moving June 30th. eek! Packing with an inquisitive toddler is much harder than I though. Logan unpacks almost as fast as I pack :p
I hope everyone's doing well! I'll be back soon for personals :D

Teething hell continues! Oh when will my poor baby’s teeth be all in? Don’t you just feel so bad for them when they suffer so?:(
I got Love & Logic yesterday. I have read a few chapters and so far, so good. A lot of it so far seems kind of common sensical but I’m looking forward to the sections where they start giving tips.
On that same note – do you feel like you little ones are testing you or are they too young for that? We haven’t had a temper tantrum yet but I have a feeling it’s around the corner. Owen seems to be testing me these days. He flings food from the high chair but he looks at me in such a way that I feel like he is testing me. Anyone else?
JennZ – Good luck with your TTC cycles. Exciting! Yes, I do notecards as well. You can click the link in my sig to go to my Web site. I offer 10% off to anyone through CC. I’m soon launching an embellished line (glitter, ribbon, etc.) so if you’re interested in that type of thing (or anything for that matter) just let me know!
Junk – I totally have that belly too. It doesn’t look that bad normally but when I hold Owen it is all squished down and UGH. I need to get on that!
kdotp – I am the same way. Back to pre-PG weight but my body is all screwed up now (as if it wasn’t bad enough already!) Sorry you are dealing with the issues with having time with him. Those daycare days are rough but it just makes the time you have with him all the more important. Owen is behind in many physical developments and while I sometimes feel that I could be working with him more, I know that he will get there on his own time. Don’t beat yourself up. You are taking great care of your guy!
Red – Happy Birthday!!! Enjoy the spa – sounds heavenly. Congrats on the new house, too. Exciting stuff! Can you believe our FOUR-year wedding anniversaries are right around the corner?

Hi everyone! See we've finally graduated to the toddler pages...kind of sad..
Been behind, lots going on in past month or so...
On mommy front... Traveled a bit this past month and was promoted in mid-April to VP. Essentially doing the same job (but finally receiving recognition), but overseeing the tech group as well. Also learned that we're expecting #2 in mid-December (12/12)! A bit panicked - while we had begun TTC, hadn't thought it would happen again on first try. We're thrilled, but still a bit dazed. Still haven't told people at work, will probably wait another 3 weeks, when I hit 14 weeks. Same 'morning sickness' (rather, all day sickness) as with #1...looking forward to this passing in coming weeks.
Declan is doing great - 12 teeth, running everywhere. We have our 15mo WBV next week, but would guesstimate he's ~27lbs. Not too many discernable words -- mama, dada, hi, bye bye, apple, bumble bee (thank you Laurie Berkner!). After fighting ear infections and stomach bugs most of the winter, happy to say we haven't been hit with anything in a few months. Finally broke down and bought 'real' shoes as his Robeez were beginning to wear thin. Very jealous of Piper (and the rest of you!) who have babies that are STTN! Declan has decided his new wake time is 5-5:30am...and there is no getting him back down. We still do a bit of modified co-sleeping out of necessity/need for sleep as we're in a 1-br apt....he usually wakes between 1-4:30am and gets into bed. Hoping magically that one day he'll just sleep until 6am! We're probably going to succumb to a Murphy Bed this summer to save a bit of money to buy a place and will turn our room into the 'kids' room.
Eating - Picky eater here! Things have gotten progressively messier now that he doesn't allow us to feed him. He's gotten much better with the spoon and fork, but mealtime takes a lot of patience these days! Always try new things, but keep standbys close. Can always rely on PB&J, burritos, enchiladas, salmon, Ian's chicken and fish bites, apple and apricot sauce, cheese and Portobello burgers, peas. Not a big fan of most 'meat' - roast beef, hamburgers, etc...
Weight - I honestly don't know how, but I'm down ~10 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight. I was a big work out fiend, so attribute some to muscle loss...though I'll probably gain double what I did with my first pregnancy. But nothing is where it once was and I'm pretty flabby. :( Really can't wait to get back to the gym, but mommy guilt kills me. Haven't been once in over 16 months after spending 3-5 days in the gym pre-baby...
Memorial Day plans? We're headed down to Baltimore for work - its the NCAA DI, DII & DIII Lacrosse Championship weekend and DH is working the Saturday/Monday games and my group is doing the Sunday games. I'm going down with Declan on Amtrak Friday morning...PRAYING there are no delays as I have horrible luck with Amtrak...
Congrats MCD! What is your EDD?
Happy birthday Red!
JennW So sorry about teething pains...all D's molars came in at the same time...it was a very rough 2 weeks...

brooke congrats on expecting and the "official" promotion!
teething/stuffy nose when we've teethed we've experienced the stuffy nose. we still only have 6 teeth!
weight i feel very fortunate to have lost all the baby weight in a few months after birth and was at my exact pre-preg weight when we learned we were expecting #2.
lost cute avatar...i need to update mine soon.
talking i think he gets better everyday, but still not a lot of words. do you count it as a word if it isn't perfect? for example, he points to a bus and and says "bu", and "bu bu" for bubble.
climbing another dare devil here. he has a dump truck that he stands in. it's not big by any means and how he gets both feet in and stands i don't know.
red happy birthday! enjoy your retreat! hope your move goes smoothly.

Happy Bday Red! Have fun at the spa!
Congrats Brooke and welcome to the Dec. mommies club! :D
do you feel like you little ones are testing you or are they too young for that?
This is part of the reason for most of the tantrums. It seems like she pushes things she knows she shouldn't be doing more often when she gets either close to nap time or bedtime. During the day it happens on occassion, but not nearly as often.
BTW, I totally feel your pain with the 5:30 wake up calls. Noa has been getting up at that time since 6 mos old. Uhg
Same here! I don't let her watch TV throughout the day when I am home with her, but I know dh and my mil let her watch it. She loves the wiggles, so I started Tivoing it and when she gets up I bring her to bed with me, I turn on the boob tube to the wiggles and she lays back and watches while I get a little more rest. Sometimes it puts her back to sleep until around 7am and other days it doesn't. I am just not the person to get out of bed and start my day at 5am.

Congrats x2 Brooke!!! And no need to be jealous of Piper's sleep habits...she only STTN once and then went right back to her normal 1-2 wake-ups per night (now with the added bonus of shrieking when I put her back in the crib!)
I'm actually kind of wondering if this new brand of wake-ups means she's getting ready to walk. In the past, her night wakings were super brief - I fed her for about 5, and she went right back to sleep. Now she wants to nurse for about 30 minutes (which she hasn't done since she was like 3 months old) and she moves her legs the whole time. It's like her body has all this excess energy lately, and she can't quite keep herself still. Of course, I also noticed that one of her i-teeth is cutting through, so that could be it too.
kdotp - Congratulations on the weight loss!! I've lost weight several times now, and I know how much work it is.
I can't stop thinking that G just isn't learning/developing very quickly. I know babies go on their own pace and all, but still. And I think it's our fault because we don't work with him.
Just wanted to let you know I feel the same way, and I'm a SAHM. There was a time when I felt I was doing her a disservice by not having her in some form of daycare - all the daycare kids could do all these neat things, and I was worried that Piper's skill set was just going to include an indepth understanding of laundry and grocery shopping. I have to remind myself daily that she'll do her own things in her own time, and I just have to be patient. I also think it's worth noting that Piper and Grant seem to be the same type of child - big, blonde, and happy. :)
red - Happy (belated) b-day!!!

Dit-to! Big time. I could've typed that myself, save for the blonde thing! :) And Pierson is big too -- I think this plays into his not doing much in the way of "tricks" -- all that growing takes mucho energy, yes?
And we're back to night wakings. I think it's mega teething and the walking thing as well.

I didn't know about the waking up at night and walking connection. Nicky was STTN from about 10 weeks until maybe 7 months. Then he would wake once each night, take a quick bottle and back to bed. He started walking at 9 1/2 months and started STTN again a couple of weeks later.
Hope that gives some of you some hope. :)

Hi everyone! Sorry I've been MIA. I really don't have much time to write now either but wanted to congratulate all the new RO's. You guys are going to have a fun Dec thread! Congratulations to all the RO's! How exciting!
Testing I really think AJ tests us. He'll do something he's not supposed to be doing while looking at us the whole time. His newest trick is to type on the computer keyboard. Which is actually not a big deal when it's not on, but when it is, it tends to freeze up after too many keyboard strokes. Not to mention that I'm afraid he's going to delete something or stumble upon a porn site.
My bad Mommy moment of the day: DH left really early in the morning, and I went back to sleep. It was about 7 am when I woke up, really surprised that AJ slept so late. About 7:10 I got up and turned off the fan. Yeah. Turns out I can't hear him with the fan on. I wonder how long he had been up.

Girls,
I'll be on hiatus for a bit -- we're moving tomorrow, my laptop will be in storage until late June, and I've got to set up a DSL so I'll be in communicado.
Here's to all the March Mommy Members -- hoping all the little ones are well, and all the RO's -- yipee and hello and good luck with the pregnancy.
Be well, and I'll be back asap.

Good luck Lisa! Safe travels...
Congrats to Brooke on #2! Lots of December ROs...fun, fun!
Teething: I don't know if he really gets a snotty nose, but the other week, he spiked a fever (about 102) and no other symptoms. I then noticed one of his molars popping through, so I'm thinking that caused the fever.
weight: thank goodness for nursing...I was able to lose all of my baby weight + another 20lbs...however, I am only nursing AMs and PMs now and have lost the calorie burning effects. I am still eating like I was during pgcy and nursing and have quickly gained back 5lbs, so I need to really start eating more healthy now.
Thanks for all your feedback on discipline and eating the other week.
I have another QOTD now...the fun topic of sleep. What are the sleep schedules like now?
Ben goes to bed between 7 & 7:30 and then gets up around 6-6:30 and STTN. He takes 1 nap a day around 12:30-1pm. On a good day, the nap is 2 hours, most days around 90 minutes. He is really cranky when he first gets up, which makes me think he should be sleeping more at night. So, he averages 10.5 - 11.5 hours per night and 1.5 - 2 hours nap per day for an average of 12 - 13 hours per day - is that enough???!!!
JennW

Sleep: Owen goes down at 6:00 and sleeps until about 5:30 or so. He usually only takes one nap (morning) for about 1-1.5 hours. Some days he takes two but not that often. So total he is sleeping about the same amount as Ben, so it seems OK to me!
Throwing food: Anyone else? Owen will eat almost anything but in the last week I've had to actually put it in his mouth to get him to eat it because he is just picking it up and flinging it (on the floor, to the dog, etc.). He was doing great at feeding himself so I don't know what's going on. It is driving me crazy! I hope it's a phase?

Have a safe trip, Junk!!
Sleeping~~I have the laziest kid around, I think. She is usually in bed by 8:30 these days (way too much fun playing outside with the kids) and often does not get up until 9:30 and recently it was even 11! Once Aiden went to one nap (which I recently put Maura on) he was up at 7 so I am a bit thrown off by all this sleepin'. Then she takes a 2 hour nap (sometimes more, not often less) around 1 or 2 depending on what we've got going on. She's preparing for being a lazy college student, I guess!
I'd say if their attitude is good then they're porbably getting enough sleep. If there is crabbing going on then more sleep might be needed. But I'm no sleep expert.

Sleep has been by far my biggest headache of parenthood.
Night- On average, Noa goes to sleep at 6:30pm and wakes at 5:30am. She does STTN. We have tried to extend her bedtime with the hopes of a later wake time but the child is DONE at 6:30. She is so not pleasant to be around much after that.
Naps- Noa's naps have always been crap. It is so frustrating when she wakes and is obviously still tired but will not go back to sleep. She still takes 2 naps: around 9am and 1:30pm. We are lucky if we get 45 min each nap. Usually 35ish min or so. I have considered trying to transition to 1 nap but my gut tells me she still needs 2.

sleep Jocey goes down anywhere from 630 to 730 and sleep until about 630 straight through. During the week she naps twice once at 9 and another between 1 and 2. Both naps about 1.5 hours. On weekend she takes one nap so she is on schedule with Zoey and they nap for about 2 hours.
Lately Jocey has been so funny. She has been getting up early but when I go in to get her she scream "no" and drops down in the crib. I cant believe she is acting like a teenager already!
Safe travels Junk!
Sleeping: We stopped attending to Eva when she wakes in the middle of the night. We completely eliminating the bottle awhile back and when she does wake she whines for a little bit and puts herself to sleep. We started noticing this is happening less and less over time. She is in bed by 8pm and up at 5-5:30am. We have tried putting her to bed earlier and she only wakes earlier. There are days were we are lucky enough to sleep until 6:30am, but they are rare.
Throwing food: Eva has been feeding the dog for a little over a month now. We constantly repeat the carrots are for you not Chloe! I've noticed it happens more when she is done eating or just not hungry. I try to pull off her tray as soon as I notice the first time. She is now responding to "Are you finished or do you want down" and that helps prevent the dog feedings as well.
-----------
As for us, we are off with the family for our annual beach vacation. We have had a sand and water table for a few weeks and we are sure that there will be plenty more sand eating in the next week. I am just looking forward to a little R&R with everyone around and only one grandbaby!

Junk - Have a safe trip & good luck back in California!
Sleep - Fortunately Nicholas & Campbell have always been on the same schedule when it comes to napping & sleeping. We do get rare days where they are on different schedules, but they are few & far between. Typically they are down for the night at around 7 and STTN to about 6:30. (the last week I have been getting a wake-up call around 5:45, but they go back down with a soother). They usually have an a.m. nap anywhere from 8:45-9:30 which is usually about an hour. They have a p.m. nap around 1:00 which is usually an 1.5-2 hours. Thank god these kids sleep like their dad!
Heidi - I can totally relate to after nap crankiness. I often find myself asking "If you're still tired why do are you getting up?"

We have tried putting her to bed earlier and she only wakes earlier.

Same here!
Not only did she not sleep later, she would scream at the top of her lungs. She just wasn't tired and we would try to let her CIO, but we finally gave up. I felt horrible making her scream like that. Now, we put her awake in her crib for both nap and bedtime and she cries a little (no real tears) and within a couple of minutes she is out!

sleep G is a night owl like us, most nights he doesn't get to bed until 9. He also still takes two naps at daycare (10:30-12:30ish and 3:30-5:00ish) so he's not tired until later. Wake up is around 7:30.
We've had an explosion of skills. We now give kisses, blow kisses, give high-fives, blow raspberries, sign "eat" and "more" clearly, know what a doggie says ('wuh wuh') and what a cow says ('oooo') and can climb up the stairs like a champ. Oh yea, we're also starting to show our toddler temper.
kdotp - same here! We've had a sudden word explosion here. I was just saying in my LJ that the cutest thing now is when Mattias here's the phone rings, he puts his hands up to his ear and says "Ello?" :) He also started blowing kisses with he "mwaah" sound. And he's trying to imitate the dances on the Wiggles Show, particularly the "Monkey Dance." it cracks me up. :)

Thanks to all for the well wishes on #2... Technology has already changed since #1! This time, for Quad Screen they take your blood a couple weeks ahead of time and send results to location where you have sonogram....then a Dr. sits down with you immediately afterward to discuss the results. No waiting! Some of you may have had that with #1, but it was new to us.
Also had Declan's 15mo. WBV yesterday (and recalled never posted 12mo stats)
12mo WBV
H: 30 1/4"
W: 25lbs 6 oz
15mo WBV
H: 32"
W: 26lbs
Throwing Food Heck, yes and sippy cups...and forks...and spoons. Started picking up once and then ending meal. We'll see if it helps. Little bugger gives me 'that look'...as if he's expecting a reaction, so try to remain calm as mac and cheese is flung on the carpet.
Sleep Schedules Usually goes down between 7-9pm depending upon when last nap ended. Up for the day between 5:15 (!) and 6am. Still takes 2 naps, ~1.5 hours each. First ~10/11am and second ~2/3pm.
Junk - safe travels

My new favorite thing Seth does:
(Background-DH and I have been battling colds for the past week.)
If you give him a kleenex, he holds it up to his nose and makes a pbbbbbbbbblt sound with his mouth, so it sounds like he's blowing his nose. It's the cutest.
He calls all phones "Hiya" - as in put it up to his ear and say "Hiya"
He also started waving byebye.
We solved the bath problem (finally) by moving to the big bathtub with a bathmat and blowing bubbles. Gradually I could stop the bubbles and all was well again. We're back to crying when the bath is over instead of when it starts. Phew.
Sleep: Seth sleeps from about 7:30 to about 6 most nights. Sometimes he goes to sleep earlier and sometimes he wakes up a bit earlier (never later, darn!) He naps at around 12ish. At home it can last up to 3 hours, at daycare it can last from 45 minutes to 2 hours. When he has a short nap at daycare, he goes to bed much earlier.
Throwing food: when he's done he starts feeding the dog. But he's also started signing "all done" so it helps. It's our fault, we feed the dog too, so we have no one else to blame for that bad habit.
He's still a picky eater, but at least he CHOWS on the stuff he likes. Cheese and yogurt and crackers are his all time faves along with fruit of almost any kind. He has a banana every morning before we leave for daycare.

G loves to talk on the phone, too. He'll hold his play phone (or sometimes our cell phones with the keylock on!) up to his ear and just jabber away. Last weekend the computer mouse became a phone. :p

We have a tv remove which is a phone in our house! Brushes sometimes too though she knows how to brush her hair so she usually does that instead. One thing I've noticed with the kids we see frequently is that the boys are much more likely to pick up a "phone" and start jabbering away. The girls pick it up and may make a couple of noises and smile but don't babble like the boys do. What goes on in your house?
Sounds like I am lucky on the nap front - I still get 2 2-hour naps (9am and 2pm) from her. But she's been waking up at 5:30 lately (boo!). Bedtime is 7.
Throwing food - she seems to be past this, thank goodness! She used to throw everything, including cups & utensils. We just ignored it and did not pick anything up until after the meal was over. We had a cup of spoons & forks on the table and would just grab another one if she chucked it. Lots of washing at first but she's gotten better and better over time.
I love the kisses! If you ask her to kiss mommy or daddy she plants one right on our cheek. We go through all of her stuffed animals and each one kisses her and then she kisses it when I ask her to. It's so cute.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

junk Good luck and we'll miss you!
Sleep At night, he sleeps from 7:30 to usually between 6 and 7. He's not a good napper, so napping times really vary. He'll usually get a morning nap of at least an hour, sometimes two. Afternoon nap is not as good. We've been wondering if he's dropping a nap now.
Throwing Food Oh, yeah, this happens all the time at our house! Usually, when he starts throwing food, I decide that the meal is over. But I think that now throwing food on the floor has become his way of saying "All done" so I've formed a bad habit.
The cutest thing AJ's been doing lately is trying to put on clothing. He'll try to put his hat on his head, and he tried to put his socks on today. Of course as soon as I took out the video camera, he stopped.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Sean has started spitting his food out instead of throwing. It is so frustrating! It's not because he is finished with his food. He just does this randomly. We also have three of the four molars in. The fourth one is coming in right now. I will be so glad when all of his teeth are in.
This weekend I took him on the carousel at the mall. At first he thought it was really fun (before it started moving). Then he got really quiet and burst out in tears. He was so ready to get off. I felt so bad for putting him on there.

OK, since I've outted myself and joined other boards, I guess I should announce that the IVF worked and I am an official RO x 2. Yep, we're having twins! One is measuring a couple days behind the other, and last week didn't yet have a heartbeat (though it was early 5w6d, they said the one that did have the heartbeat already was an overachiever), but they expect to see it when we go back on Thursday. It hasn't all quite sunk in yet, and I have crazy morning sickness this time, so I'm just eating my saltines and trying to keep up with Sam.

So we have a big temper suddenly in our house. Owen gets so frustrated and yells whenever he can't do something he is trying to do (i.e. reach something, pull something from under something, etc.) Anyone else dealing with this?
Also - I notice him squinting a bit lately when looking far away. Should I be concerned about eyesight or maybe this is normal? He seems to be able to see fine but it's just the squinting that's got me thinking... I'll have to ask the ped to check them out next time we're there.
Thanks all for the comments on his weight gain. His ped is finally drawing the conclusion that he is just a small guy. All the millions of tests they have put him through have ruled out everything. He's just small and nothing else! They put us through a lot for nothing, but better safe than sorry, I guess.:)

Wow! look at at all our RO. Congrats.....
My best Friend just joined in as RO as she had a baby last may and is due next Feb.
We have been super busy. We took a quick trip home to Indiana to see my family. Mackenzie did great on the plane and great with the strangers.
We are scheduled for tubes but there is a three month waiting period. I am trying to bump it up as everytime we go off meds we get an ear infection.
We too have the tantrums. Its crazy if she doesn't get her way she screams and cries. We do not give in. We have started time out as she hits when something doesn't go her way. its not a long time out but it seems to work a little bit.
We also have a lot of words in our vocab, but to me it seems like she has slowed down a little.
Her newest trick is trying to jump. Its too cute. Its sad though as I don't want her to grow up any faster then she already is.

We went to our 15 month appointment today. Here are the stats:
Height: 29.5"
Weight: 22lbs 14oz
Head Curc: 47 cm
We spoke to the doctor about his communication skills, which we have been worried about. The doctor agrees that he is not where he should be so he's going to the ENT to rule out a hearing problem and I'm still working on setting up an evaluation/speech therapy. He also has to see the urologist because the hole that he urinates out of might not be large enough, due to his circumcision. Ugh, what a day. I spend most of it on the phone trying to set up appointments and all that. We go to the ENT June 27th and Urology Aug 15 unless there's a cancellation.
tantrums We've been dealing with tantrums since he was about 9 months, I think. Particularly when he's tired or hungry. Luckily they don't typically last long.

Amy: congrats times two! So excited for you!
Tempers: Oh yes, we are definitely there! Especially going inside, he loves, loves, loves being outside.
We had Ben's 15-mo appt today...
Ht: 32"
Weight: 20lb, 8 oz
Tall and skinny. He's fallen to about the 10th percentile in weight. The dr. wasn't too worried because he had gained since his last appt. We just need to focus on giving him more fats - putting butter on things, mixing it with sour cream, etc. We'll see what happens!

Tracie - I'm also sorry to hear about all of the appointments, but hopefully you will get some answers soon.
tantrums - Campbell is definitely a tantrum thrower - arches his back, flings himself backwards, bangs his head on the floor - very dramatic. He tends to get frustrated very easily so we see this behavior fairly often. Nicholas is pretty laid back so we don't see too many tantrums from him - just the occasional back arching.
Campbell is now walking! He's still pretty unsteady, but he's trying. I now officially have 2 toddlers!
Here are their 15 month stats:
Nicholas:
Ht: 30 in.
Wt: 23 lb. 8 oz.
Campbell:
Ht: 31 in.
Wt: 21 lb. 5 oz.
It's funny because Campbell is so tall & skinny compared to Nicholas that we always think of Nicholas as being SO big, but in reality he's pretty average.
Congrats Amy!!!!
Tracie: My little brother had the urinary problem, but they didn't find out until he was potty trained because he was peeing all the time. I hope everything goes well.
Yippee for Campbell!
There is a 15 month apt.???? I'll have to check with dh on that, he took Eva to her last apt. and ours are so screwed up because we are doing one shot at a time, so maybe that is why we didn't get the 15 mo.
Tantrums: At times, Eva beats her head against things and on the ground. I tend to try to ignore, but when she does that it really freaks me out. I really need guidance on this topic because this has been happening for awhile.

tgal - We only had a 15 month appointment because the boys (well Campbell) was on the small side at his 12 month appointment & the doctor wanted us to come back before the 18 month appointment. Thank you guys for the support!
15 Month appointments are standard at my son's pedi and the doctor's office where I work. Probably mainly because there's a vaccine scheduled at 15 months. Maybe different doctor offices do things differently and have different vaccine schedules?
ShannonGH
06-15-2007, 04:35 AM
I think some dr's do both chicken pox and mmr vaccine at 12 mos (my niece's does that and, therefore, she does not have a 15 mo wbv). But my dr splits them with mmr @ 12 and pox @ 15.
Excellent, good to know! Yeah, we are delaying, so that is probably why we are completely off with our apts.

06-15-2007, 07:52 AM
Huh. G didn't have a 15m wbv. His 12m wbv was right around the time of the EI That Would Not End combined with Teething From Hell and we delayed his shots twice. We never saw our Dr. when he actually got his 12m vax, just the NP and she didn't say anything about scheduling an appt., so I just assumed we didn't have another until 18m. He also didn't get his MMR but did get Varicella (that's chicken pox, right?) at 12m. I guess we'll find out in Sept!

Well it seems that I am also going to be a RO!
We were a bit on the fence about having a third child and were going to talk about it after a good friend's wedding (that I'm in) in August. I haven't been temping the past couple of months but never, ever O late. My cycle is as predictable as they get. Except for this one. I had to have O'd on day 21 which is just crazy. Had I O'd earlier and we were talking about a condom failure then my lines on Thursday and Friday would have been much, much darker because I would have been 14+ DPO. Or implantation happened way late but I'm doubting that because we had unprotected sex on CD21 (thinking we were totally safe!) which would have made me 10dpo on Thursday when I first tested and completely wasn't expecting to be pg but my period was nearly 4 days late and that just never happens.
So, there's probably TMI but that's my story:) It's super early so we're remaining positive (had 2 chem pgs before Maura)!

I am so not ready to be a RO. We are most like likely done (I'm about 95% sure) and even if we did decide to have another I think I would want to wait until the boys are at least about 3. We always said we didn't want more than 2, but never expected to have them at once! I don't think that if I had had 2 separate pregnancies I would even be thinking about a third child, so that leads me to believe that I really am good with 2.

I had a bitter sweet moment this morning. Since Eva wakes so early, we bring her to bed with us hoping she will fall back asleep. If she doesn't she gets to watch the wiggles until mommy or daddy are fit to get out of bed. On my working days, I get a kiss and that is about it. I never really thought she knew why. Thanks ladies:) My thoughts are all over the place right now. I'm mostly excited but then I have these moments where I shout "but we're not going to have enough seats at the table when our parents come over!!" or "but I'm not going to be able to drink at Liz's wedding!!". Oh the fun;)

I'm a tad ashamed to say is the main reason we're waiting to TTC until the end of September is DH and I are going to NYC for a long weekend with some friends at the beginning of Sept and I want to be able to have go out and have fun while we're there. :o
My funny boy - yesterday we were playing with his LP Noah's Ark set in ou LR and he climbed up in my lap to play. Such a sweetie!

Congrats Amy and phart!
I'm in about 4 times RO-land since November.... I've had 3 miscarriages (last one being mid-May) and on Father's Day learned I'm pregnant again. DH and I are apparently VERY fertile, but at least this time, I think I'm on the right combination of drugs and so far my numbers (and pg tests!) look good. I think my latest EDD is 2/28/08 (but Lucas' EDD was 3/28/06 when I figured it out by O and I had him on 3/5!!).
Lucas had his 15 month WBV last Thursday, and we choose not to get the shots done, we could either do them at 15 months or 18 months.
His stats are:
12 mo:
weight: 22 lbs, 4 oz
height: 31.75 inches
head circ: 18.5
15 mo:
weight: 24 lbs 8 oz
height: 32 1/4 in
head: 18 1/2
Lucas definitely has a temper, especially when we take him away from something he's enjoying playing with. I never quite know how to deal with it! We have these mini halloween candles in our basement that Lucas LOVES to play with, so when I tell Bear, our rottie that it's time to go pee pee, Lucas goes running to the basement door because he wants to go play with the candles. Then I get temper-boy whenever I have to drag him away from the candles so I can go to work!
All the boy wants to do is go outside and play I think too! He'll bring me his shoes and sit so that it tells me he wants to go outside.
Anyone else have their ped tell them not to give them eggs until they are 2? That was news to me! Lucas has been getting eggs at daycare now since March!

Re: eggs- yep, no eggs till 2 and no peanut butter till 3. That's the stance of the practice my ped belongs to. I got the vibe, however, that she (my ped) maybe isn't always so stringent with those rules but is w/ Noa b/c of her history of food allergies.
eta: mcd- I already congratulated you in the other thread but it's worth it again. CONGRATS!!!! Sending more sticky vibes your way!!!

Congrats MCD!!!
Our Ped said 1 year for eggs the whites first, then yoke. Of course DH forgot and just gave him eggs (both whites and yokes) one day when we were having breakfast, but he was fine. He also says 2 years for Peanut Butter, though I tend to wonder if he may have gotten a hold of a peanut butter cookie this weekend, so he may be ok... though with the peanut horror stories from MIL's school I may just give him a PB Sandwich at the Dr.'s just in case.

phart congrats on #3!! how exciting! don't you just love when your body is unpredictable?!
mcd congrats!! i hope this one is the one!
tracie hope you find some answers. i think it's great your dr. is being proactive.
eggs i haven't heard this...ds has been getting the yolk since at least 9 months, could be sooner. i've been giving him the white since 1 year. i'm dying to give pb, will ask at our 15 mo. which i have yet to schedule.
tantrums oh yes...it's very difficult sometimes to find the patience for these. i mean i think i'm pretty patient, but sometimes you're just at the end of your rope. doesn't he understand that we're getting in the car to go somewhere fun???? this happens most days since we have to go to the garage where all of the "toys" are (lawn mower, tools, etc.) in order to get in the car. it's annoying to have to budget extra time to touch/ride all of these things.

06-20-2007, 04:31 AM
What about fish/shellfish? I need to ask my doc about this as well. I think I've heard two years but I can't remember? We were eating shrimp this weekend and he was eying it up but I didn't give it to him since I'm pretty sure it's a no no? Our 15 month appt isn't happening until closer to 17 months due to a weight check at that time but I'll ask then I guess.

Food- Sean's been eating eggs since around 13 months. He loves them and has them several times a week. He also eats PB. I don't really feed it to him much, but his sitter has given him PB&J sandwiches and he hasn't had any problems. His doc said he could eat anything except shellfish (fish was fine though).
We had some pictures made last weekend. It's been a while since we've had professional pictures made and boy was it tiring. He kept running away. I was exhausted!!

I think "they" say 2 years for shelfish. I remember being out to eat for lunch with a friend and Aiden as under 2 and grabbed a piece of fried shrimp and had at it. I just stared at him for a few minutes waiting for his face to swell up or something! I started carrying Benadryl with me at some point just in case.

I'm loving all the RO! Congratulations to our newest mommies of two, (or three!) amy, stefani and Shannon!! I am so excited for you guys! Promise that you'll keep us updated, I need to feed my baby bug with something to keep it under control ;) lol.
I know it's not a good thing to compare kidlets, but I'm a little concerend with Logan's language skills. My mom keeps telling me that boys usually lag behind in talking, but I think Logan is *really* behind. I can't remember the last time he said a new word, and the only consistent words he uses are "dada, the kitties, dat (that) and doggie". SOmtimes I'll get a "momma". He has repeated a few times "roof, what's that" and maybe a handfull of others...but no sentences. He signs "more", and seems to be doing fine with fine and gross motor skills (clapping, blowing kisses, hugs, walking, ect.) I don't *think* it's a hearing problem, he reacts to all noises and seems to listen to your speak, but just repeats babbling noises instead of words.
Am I expecting too much? I have no idea what's typical for a 15 month old...?
phart
06-20-2007, 06:33 AM
Red~~Aiden was very slow in the language department. At 18 months he had maybe 2 words and at 2 he didn't have 50 (remembering the ped asking about that number) and barely 25. Then right after two his language really took off and, very seriously, the child doesn't stop talking:) I wouldn't be concerned right now, though I know it's hard.

red, that sounds pretty normal to me.
Our Dr. said they look for 6 words at 15 months and I counted 5 or 6 on your list, so looks pretty good to me!
15 month stats:
Height 31 1/4"
Weight 24 lbs 13 oz.
50th percentile for both
I can't believe how big he's getting and how much work it is to run after a one year old!!!
Congrats to all our new preggos!

Red- Sean is the exact same way. Dada, dog and bye are the only words he says consistently. He's been saying dada since like October and it is his most favorite thing to say. He's only said momma just a handful of times. He's also clapping, hugging, pointing and walking so I don't think it's a hearing problem either.

Any of your kids squinting? He seems to be able to see just fine and reacts to things pretty far away. But, lately I’ve noticed him squinting. I need to ask the doc about this. Not sure if it’s a habit, air (fan) hitting him or if he is having trouble seeing/focusing?
Red: Dh's little cousin didn't say one word until she was 2 and then they couldn't shut her up (even to this day ;)). Every child develops differently!
Food: Awesome idea, I never thought to carry benedryl with us. DD has had everything already. We started egg whites at 9 months and added yolks at a year. Peanut butter was introduced by accident at 14 months. We gave her fish at around 10 months and shell fish after a year. I had no clue about the fish though. No food allergies in our family either. Now, she eats anything and everything!
Cute pictures ajb!
You know, I don't think we've posted in quite some time either.

squinting ~ I haven't noticed Lucas do that. Not sure what it could mean. Was sun in the eyes?
eggs & peanut butter ~ Lucas has had peanut products before too, I kind of forgot when he was real young and gave Lucas some of my chocolate chunk & peanut butter granola bar. He probably wasn't even a year old when I did that.
fish/shellfish ~ My ped said fish is okay, shellfish not until he's 2.
Red ~ Remember they won't say all of their words in a row! ;) Logan is more advanced than Lucas in the art of language!

It's the first thing people usually comment on (poor kid, he's going to have to hear it for the rest of his life. :p) DH's hair was exactly the same when he was little. To recap--
* LMP 5/15, cycles are usually 27 days.
* test on CD31 and get two faint tests
* test on cd32 and get a "pregnant" from the digital
* light spotting here and there
* more brown spotting this Wednesday
* turns red on Thursday, maybe over did it at Kings Island
* no cramping
* urine test at OB's office is negative today (Friday) but NP said my urine was nearly clear so who knows...blood is drawn.
* hang out at Rachel's for a bit...decide to pee on the Clearblue digital test I have at home and it says "not pregnant"
* should get betas back today. I'm going to assume they are going to confirm the "not pregnant" on the digital:(
Phart: I hope everything turns out OK. Maura is adorable!

AJ had his evaluation today. We were concerned about communication but they evaluated everything. I haven't gotten the final report but basically he has some substantial delays. He qualifies for services in communication and also for social-emotional development. He also might qualify for fine motor, but it might be kind of vision thing. He might have a problem with depth perception - we have to get his vision checked. His basic fine motor skills (like grasping) were fine. His gross motor was fine - he's at the 13-15 month level which on the late side of normal, but still okay. He's as low as 8 months in some of the other areas! He will be receiving an hour of services (speech, basically) a week, but we might not be able to start until the beginning of August.
Anyway, I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. I didn't know the delays were as far-reaching as they are. I think I'm feeling better about it now then right after the eval. I know he's going to get the help he needs.
Adorable pics everyone, and phart, I'm so sorry!

Tracie We ran into something like this with DS after he turned 2. His was a speech delay as well, but ran through a battery of tests just to be sure. He had delays as far back as 15 mo. (he was 24 mo at the time). We ended up with services for an hour a week every two weeks that didn't start until August after I brought it to our ped's attention and started the process in mid-June. So lots of similarities.
Our therapist put my mind to ease right away, saying that it was WAAAAY better to catch it now than find out when DS was school age or close to it. She gave me lots of suggestions to improve speech as well as other parenting tricks that I didn't think of (being a first time mom and all). At 3 years, he's made up all his delays, although I still keep an eye out for things.
Anyway, just wanted to put in my 2 cents so you didn't feel alone in all this. Yes, it's overwhelming, but I think much of it is also somewhat normal. Hopefully it helps to know you're not the only one to experience this.

Hey all. All the pics are so cute. We got some cute toddlers on our hands!!! Elly - Those eyes! You have a definite heartbreaker on your hands there.:)
Owen is getting closer to walking each day though I think we have some time yet until he's all on walking. He is cruising quickly though and pushing his push toys one handed while walking behind/beside them so he is def finally getting his balance a little more. I'm guessing another 1-2 months maybe? But who really knows. As for talking, we don't have many new words, but def some phrases that I can't quite decipher. He says something that sounds like "I did it!" every time he does anything. He says hi, dad, daddy and Ruby (our dog) and doggie. Once in a blue moon I get a mommy/mama and he's just starting to say milk when he wants his sippy. For the most part though, his words sounds mostly foreign to us even though they are consistent sounds. Not sure if he's on track but we have the 15 mo. wbv soon so I'll be able to ask then. His favorite thing to do is mess with the dog. The poor dog gets tortured but I think she secretly loves it.;)
We are still fighting molars and it has been hell. Owen was stuck to me like glue yesterday. Poor thing.:(
How are all the RO's doing? Also, I hope Junk is doing well in LA! Hope you're back on here, soon!

Tracie As a former therapist in Early Intervention, i can agree with Bernie and say it's totally better to catch this now. When they are that young, it's so much easier to "treat" them just by playing with them and they catch on so quickly! I'm sure you will see him make quick progress!

I have to take Owen in for more blood since his calcium was elevated again. I am really worried. Doc said we'll talk after the test regardless of the results but he made me scared. I have no idea what this means though the doctor said it is possible it means nothing. Now I have to go through the torture of blood work again. Apparently the nurse practitioner pulled the results weeks ago and was supposed to call me and she never did.

I think Lucas is going for his 3rd haircut tonight. I can only hope he does as well this time as he did the last 2. We shall see! He's been crabby and clingy lately!
RO ~ Going okay so far I guess. I had a "fluid filled sac" on my ultrasound yesterday, and I was only 4w5 or 6d, so I don't know if it's good or bad yet. The doctor was indifferent on it. Not encouraging at all. All I know is that apparently Lucas was a miracle baby and I didn't even know it!! (Other than taking a year to conceive him!) :D

Thank you, Bernie and Amy! I used to work in early childhood myself, and I completely agree that the earlier, the better. Which is why I brought it up to the pedi and got an evaluation as soon as I suspected a problem.
I'm feeling better about it today. I'm looking forward to starting therapy and seeing all the progress he'll make.
We got some good news today - we had his hearing screen to rule out any hearing problems as a cause for the communication delay. His hearing is perfectly fine! His listening skills on the other hand, were behind age level. Which makes perfect sense, and is a probable reason for the communication delay. But I'm so glad his hearing is fine.
JennW So sorry about having to go through the blood work again. What a nightmare!
MCD Wishing good wishes for you!

Tracie - Yay for good hearing.:) That is a great sign!:D Just out of curiosity, what were signs that made you ask your ped about an eval? I have had doubts about Owen's progress in certain areas and still wonder if he should have an evaluation although the ped says it's not needed. I still wonder if he needs it, though.
MCD - Good thoughts for you.:D

Sorry for delay, but shorts were gift from SIL from Baby Gap... DH's shorts were from JCrew (may also have on crewcuts site, goodness knows Declan is almost in 2Ts already).
RO doing well here, but driving myself silly trying to plan baby shower for SIL (due in October). Also, as we'll staying put in our 1BR rent-stabilized apt. as long as possible...we just ordered a murphy bed. Trying to get reorg out of way before fall hits and work becomes nuts again... ro things are going well, i have my one hour glucose test tomorrow (which i failed w/ ds) and my rhogam shot. i'm getting big and she's moving a lot more. getting a little freaked that she'll be here in 3 months, hopefully not a day sooner ;). james will point to my belly at times and say "baby" and will sometimes repeat her name if we say it. my mom will be moved from OR at the end of the month so it will be a huge help/relief to have her nearby.

JennW What really concerned us about AJ was that he wasn't seeming to understand anything and he wasn't using any gestures (pointing, hands up to be picked up, etc). And of course, he wasn't really talking. I know you shouldn't compare children, but I knew that other kids his age were really communicating a lot more. And beyond which, he didn't seem to be making any progress.
We're going away this weekend to celebrate our five year anniversary - and leaving AJ behind with my MIL. MIL watches him every day while we work, so I don't worry about her taking care of him, but it's going to be so difficult to leave him in the morning! We're leaving tomorrow morning and coming back Sunday night.

Hi everyone! I haven't been here in almost a month - crazy! The longer I stayed away the more scared I was about all the posts I'd have to catch up on when I finally came back. But it is good to be back :)
First off I have to say a big hi to tuni and Piper. We met up with them in San Fran way back in May and had a great time! The trip was lots of fun but not nearly as relaxing as I had hoped for because there was so much to do and so many people to see. It is funny how you need a week to recover from a trip! Oh, and PS - Piper is every bit as adorable in person as she is in her pictures ;) And tuni and I were quite proud of the fact that neither of us called each other tuni or april in person!
Now for the rest of the updates...
Huge congrats to amy! I am so happy for you. How are you feeling now? How is Sam reacting to your being sick?
MCD - I'm sorry to hear things are so indecisive. I will be thinking sticky thoughts for you. Like Lucas, my DD loves playing outside - she has even learned how to open the front door, scaring the heck out of me! My ped also said no eggs until 2.
red - if it makes you feel any better, Logan is way ahead of DD in terms of language. Our ped asked if she had any words at 15 months and she did not. The ped said it was too early to worry and if she didn't have any by 18 months we'd look into it. Since then she's started saying hi, up, ma and da but that is all.
phart - Any more news? I hope you are doing alright.
JennZ - what iron drops did you get? We've been using the Enfamil and it seems to be working (she is still low but better than the 12mo test) but they make her breath smell terrible! We brush her teeth right after giving her the drops and her toothbrush turned brown!
Tracie - sounds like you have everything covered and under control now. I am sure you are eager for those visits to start! Happy anniversary and enjoy your trip!
Oh my goodness, the pictures are awesome! I love seeing how all the "babies" are growing up. Shannon - loving the pigtails!
tantrums - DD throws silent ones. Just lays down on the floor face down. It is really hard not to laugh, it is so cute (and I'm counting my blessings that they're quiet!).
Whoever it was that said this was a fun age was right on target. We are just having a blast! I took her outside to play in a downpour this afternoon and she discovered puddles. She just kept toddling from one to another and stamping her feet and making cute little noises. She makes this noise "ah" like she's really considering something whenever she sees a dog, bird, ant, whatever. DH and I imitate her all the time since it's so cute and funny. I swear she's going to be an entomologist - she is OBSESSED with ants. I need to find her a good ant book.
In other news, we're getting our condo ready to put on the market. Scary. I feel like we have so much work to do and not enough time to do it. And all the houses we were "keeping an eye" on for purchase have suddenly sold in the same week. Hopefully something else will pop up soon. We can't really TTC until we are in a new house so I am beginning to get anxious!
Well, like I said before, it is good to be back! I missed you all!
Any word from junk?

Hi April!
We are giving Graham iron drops called Fer-Gen-Sol. They are prescription. But they are clear, so they don't discolor his teeth- which is great! And he really doesn't mind taking a dropperful every day. Originally the ped had us try a multi-vitamin drop with iron to see if that would boost his iron enough.
(I think those were called Poly-Vi-Sol)
But those must have tasted terrible because he would fight me every.single.time. So half the dropper would end up on his face or down his neck.
So I much prefer these new iron drops.
Check and see what your ped thinks about those if your DD's levels are still low.
HTH!
Good luck selling your condo!!

I just wanted to come in and post some great news
I got accepted in LAW school!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I start AUG 13. Its going to be a huge struggle financially as we will be dropping from two income to one income in 6 weeks!!!!
I am excited yet super nervous as this is a big step for our family.
Our 3 year anniversary is Tuesday so we are flying out to VEGAS to celebrate. We are taking my MIL with us to babysit at night so we can have some fun. I was not ready to leave her overnight with DH or myself so the next best thing was to bring her.
We have put her CRIB into a toddler bed, as she has been co-sleeping with us since day 1 and I think she has only slept in her crib 3 times. So we are trying to transition into her big girl bed slowly. At least to start off the night.
So wish us LUCK!

Congrats Lost! That's awesome! Where are you staying in Vegas? That's so fun!
JennW Glad the tests came back ok! I'm sure that is such a relief!
April Sam doesn't really notice. He gets annoyed if I am not my normally perky self, but he has been handling it ok. And he was fascinated the other day by a baby at the park, so that makes me feel better.
RO: Ugh, this pregnancy has been ROUGH, ladies. I have had horrible nausea, which is finally under control with phenegren, but now that is causing constipation. I had none of these issues last time! I almost wish it was reversed because it would be alot easier to feel this way without chasing Sam around the house! At any rate, the twinnies are doing good. One measuring 2 days ahead, the other measuring 1 day behind. One is totally trying to hog all the space, so the other is standing on it's head currently!

jennw big sigh of relief for you! what are the dangers of elevated calcium?
JennW

Thanks all.:)
elly - They were concerned about kidney function. It's been tested before back when they were looking for a reason for slow weight gain so I wasn't as worried about that but high calcium could also be a sign of a problem with the parathyroid. This would require surgery so I was nervous. Thank God it's nothing!:)

Hi ladies!
Just wanted to drop by and say hello and let you know that come 3/08 we'll be a family of 4!
This was totally unplanned though we did through caution to the wind a bit. We are still shocked! This baby is due the same day Patrick was (3/7). I just hope they have their own birthday's!
Patrick is doing very well, he's really learning signs more and more these days and he's very close to walking! The whole concept of "big brother" is lost on him still though. ;-)
Have a great day!

Great news Christy!!
Lost - Congrats!
Amy - hope this passes soon with you... While I had 'all day' sickness with DS, #2 was MUCH worse...though subsided earlier ~11 weeks.
Everything well here, Declan's "big boy bed" is being delivered at the end of the month. Ended up buying a twin captains bed and will add rails. As he still co-sleeps with us for half the night (stays in his crib until ~12-5am) think we'll just transistion him to big boy bed instead of our own.

I think they really enjoyed having their birthday on the same day- his parents just made sure that they each got their own cake and friends over, and it wasn't ever a big deal!
brooke Oh, I hope it subsides soon. I'll be 10 weeks on Saturday. I finish this second round of antibiotics on Thursday so I'm hoping that will help as well. I notice I get more queasy after taking it, and since I take it 4 times a day, I think that plays a big part!

Congrats to our new RO! FWIW, my oldest sister's birthday is two days after mine. Sometimes it was a pain, (I think one year we shared a birthday cake between two parties) but for the most part it was okay. Makes it easier to remember her birthday! ;)

And a big YAY!!! to Grant on his new skill!!!
We just returned from our WBV (supposed to be the 15 mo one, but she's actually one day past 16 mo at this point). She's still a big girl - 90th for height and 75th for weight. Pip's still not walking (at all...not even standing unsupported) but the doctor was totally unconcerned, which made me feel heaps better. Piper was more than happy to demonstrate her cruising skills in the doc's office, which ruled out the need for PT - she has the strength, just not the interest. And she's clearly working on her verbal skills instead...we've counted 15 words, about 50-75 signs, and she adds new stuff everyday. So it's all good, except that my back is killing from lugging around 25 lbs all the time!
A couple of silly Pippy shots (the girl still can't get enough of her own reflection):

Tuni – She is so cute! Regarding walking, Owen is the same way. He cruises his little heart out along furniture and pushes the walker/push toys. He climbs on top of everything (and usually dives head first off of everything too – such a boy – yikes!). He’ll walk holding our hands but has no interest in doing it on his own. Don’t worry – all in good time!
So for all those with little walkers - how long was it between cruising and walking?
ShannonGH

Love the pics of Piper!!
kdotp- yay for walking!!!
Walking- Noa's not walking yet either but she is so far and beyond where we would've expected her to be (gross motor wise) at this point. She will get into the standing position unassisted (w/o pulling up on anything), stand unassisted for 10-12 sec or so, and she has just started taking 1-2 steps (albeit very wobbly steps) w/o holding onto anything. However, she does not like walking behind push toys or walking while holding onto our fingers. She seems to have very much an "I'll do it myself" attitude. She loves to see how long she can balance herself while standing and seems proud when she tries to take steps. Like I said before, her gross motor skills are practically on age-level, which is amazing to us....now her speech/language and fine motor, that's another story. ;)

Congrats, Amanda!
QOTD-
It was about 4-6 weeks between cruising and walking by himself.
He also has two older siblings to try and keep up with, so I don't know if that made a difference or not.
April,
The iron drops barely smell at all. If anything, they just smell a little sweet.
So for all those with little walkers - how long was it between cruising and walking?
About 8 weeks from cruising to full-time walking. Then about 2 weeks from full-time walking to full-time running. ;) My goodness those little ones are fast!

QOTD – What type of shoes do your DCs wear for walking? Owen refuses all footwear but I need to get him something once he is walking. No idea what a good first walking shoe is? I also have no idea how I’m going to get him to wear them. He literally pulls all shoes right off his feet!:p
Shannon – She is precious!

Shannon - soooo cute! Look at that big smile!
Jenn - When DD started walking outside of our home we had a pair of See Kai Run. I was amazed at how much better she was able to walk in them than barefoot or in soft-soled shoes. I think they just added a little extra support. We still did barefoot at home so she could work on developing those muscles but I think those shoes gave her the confidence she needed to get up and walking. It took about a month from first step to walking most of the time but now she literally walks all day long! DH and I were talking last week about how we haven't seen her play with her toys in ages - it is because she is so busy walking around (and reading. She will sit still for books).

Noa gets around on her feet much better barefoot. When we put shoes on her (stage 2 striderite sandals), she isn't near as sure of herself. Her PT recommends she learn walking while barefoot or with a flexible soled shoe. I was kinda concerned that Noa needed to experience what it felt like to walk/cruise with shoes on but she said that it's been her experience that kiddos that learn to walk barefoot will walk fine with shoes once they get more walking experience under their belt.

Cruising/Walking It was at least two months between first cruising and first steps - and then it was another two months between first steps and when he really started walking. He wasn't all that motivated since he's such a good crawler. We see more and more walking every day but we still see plenty of crawling!
Shoes We keep him barefoot usually in the house to develop those muscles. We just have regular old sneakers for when he goes outside. He is equally comfortable walking in sneakers or barefoot.

Thank you all for the well wishes for law school. Its scarey but exciting at the same time.
Vegas was fun. we stayed at the Mirage, and when we got there we had booked a two bedroom suite but they gave it to somone else so we got two penthouse suites. It was beautiful. Mackenzie loved it. She loved all the lights.
DH booked a Grand Canyon and Strip helicopter tour but because of the heat it was canceled.
I will post some pics once I get them uploaded.
SHOES: We have a pair of NIKES and a pair of striderite sandals. She normally ends up wearing the sandals. But have noticed that her feet stink if I let her wear them all day.
Cruising to Walking: I have no clue on this one, as soon as Mackenzie learned what walking was there was no stopping her. Somedays I still wish she was a crawler. But then there are others that I am thankful.

Cruising to walking - Both of the boys had a long period between cruising & first steps - probably close to 3 months. AFter the first steps it was about a month until Nicholas was what I considered to be "walking" and for Campbell about 2 weeks.
Shoes - Most of the time they are barefoot, but if we go out they usually wear sport-type sandals or sneakers.
So we tried taking the boys camping last weekend - what a nightmare! I don't think it could have gone any worse. Of course I think we kind of set ourselves up to fail because we got away late & ended up arriving close to bedtime. Naturally the boys were curious about everything and by the time we got the tent set up it was bedtime. But it was still really light out and they did not want to go to bed. DH took them for a walk & the fell asleep in the stroller. We just left them there while we cooked ourselves dinner & cleaned up. By then it was about 10 and we thought we'd all just go to bed. But during the transfer out of the stroller the boys woke up & didn't want to go back to sleep. At one point we discussed one of us putting the boys in the car & taking them home & driving back the next day to pack up. They ended up being awake until almost 1 a.m. and were up with the sun a 6 a.m. Also, during the night our air mattress deflated so we ended up sleeping on the ground. We had planned to stay another night, but we got up, made breakfast, packed up and came home. We were exhausted, the boys were exhausted and even the dogs were exhausted. I think it might have been better if we had just gone up Saturday morning instead of Friday night, but nonetheless I don't think the boys (or their parents) are quite ready for tent camping just yet
Does anyone else have a DC that likes to feed them food? Food that they were previously chewing on? Mattias has been trying to put half chewed cherries, bread, anything in our mouths. Sometimes I accept, but yeah, he enjoys it...:o

klm Yikes! I told DH after reading your story that we can't take the kids camping until they are much older!
~~~
I just have to share this story that makes me realize how much Sam actually comprehends. A few days ago, when Chris was watching him, Sam took a puzzle piece out of his book and put it who knows where (Chris wasn't watching). I think it was Saturday that he did this. Today we were reading the book and we got to the one that he took out (it's an alphabet book, so it was missing the Sun, which is one of his favs) and I said "it's not in here, do you remember where you put it?" He sat there for a minute and got up and ran out of the room. I followed him over to the dog's toy box. So after digging for a few seconds, I find the sun in the box! I can't believe that he remembered that 5 days later!
Hmmm....long time no "see" - remember me?
Kids are refusing to nap today (my fault, for screwing up schedule), so I only have a minute before they decide that they're sick of talking to each other and want mom to come & get them.
So anyway -- I have a ton of catching up to do, but I just want you to know I think of you all often (when I have a moment to think!!) and hope all of your little ones are doing really well. I can't wait to hear about them!
Alex & Audrey are fine almost 17 months and HUGE (for their age). Running around like bandits most of the time, making me far too worn out to do much on CC these days (I often wish I were 28 instead of 38, but oh well). They exhaust me, but I'm loving every minute of it. I'm sure you know what I mean. :)
