View Full Version : Does an HCG trigger insure O?

I am currently CD3 following my first unsuccessful cycle of Clomid & HCG trigger shot. I had one follie of descent size when I got the shot.
I do not O on my own. I was on Clomid for 6 cycles, and cycle 7 was Clomid with HCG. My temps for this past cycle still does not indicate O.
Does getting the HCG trigger insure O, or is it still arbitrary?
A trigger shot is pretty good at causing an ovulation - I don't know offhand what percentage of shots is successful, but its high, though not 100%, so it does fail sometimes. At least one other WCer/CCer has had this happen to her (that I know of), maybe she'll see the post and be in to chat soon. :)

It's me *raises hand*. Not that I'm at all proud
My physician's assistant at the REs said she'd only seen it once or twice. I did end up O'ing 2 weeks after the shot, on my own I guess. The next cycle I did O after the trigger. The 3rd cycle I apparently O'ed (because AF showed 14 days later), but my chart (and the bloodwork) really didn't reflect the O, so my temps and progesterone weren't cooperating.
Apparently this next cycle he's adding something to my injectibles regimen (I forget now, because I've been away for 2 weeks and this cycle was unmedicated 'cause of cysts). I've not have a progesterone problem before. I hate to be the one who perplexes the RE
Best of luck!
My doctor told me it was virtually guaranteed -- 99% or so. But of course that means that it's not 100%, as BTB mentioned.
But FYI, I wouldn't trust your temps during a medicated cycle. I know that when I was taking Clomid + trigger, my temps were completely flat, even though I knew from ultrasounds & bloodwork that I had definitely O'ed. I finally just gave up trying to temp during the medicated cycles. I know lots of other WC women had similar experiences, so maybe that's why your temp hasn't risen.
Good luck to you!
