I've recently gone off BCPs. While I've read threads about the side-effects of being on BCPs, I have yet to read anything about the benefits of going off them.
So, if you were on BCPs and went off of them, could you please let me know some of the positives?
Thx!

Sex drive came back immediately... that's the one that sticks out the most.
The burning sensation I was experiencing with sex disappeared. Mind you, I had had every test under the sun to try to figure out what it was and nada...
I had less headaches overall.
I have not had another yeast infection since going off.
God... I am so not looking forward to going back on them...

I second the increase in sex drive...though mine has kind of leveled off.
I initially had headaches everyday before ovulation and none after. That only lasted 3 months or so.
I really didn't feel all that different. No weight gain or loss. I do have slightly worse cramps and PMS. But nothing too bad.
Good luck!

This is my first month off the pill - only thing I've noticed so far is that my PMS and cramps have been much much worse. In fact, last night I told hubby (jokingly) that I want to get prenant next month so I don't have to go through this again, lol. We plan on waiting to start TTC in Sept and I don't quite think he got that I was kidding...

This is my first month off the pill as well and my cramps have been bad to. I have had bad cramps and sore breasts quite a lot. We ae just starting TTC and I certianly wouldn't mind getting pg right way because I bet the period is going to be rough.
I've heard after a few months things gradually get better though, I have already noticed the improved sex drive as well :)

I went off the pill several months ago and it was a total nonevent. I was on the low-dose pill, I don't know if that makes a difference. I expected to feel different and to not have a normal period for a while. I felt no different, and I had a normal period the next month. I was late this month by a few days, but other than that everything has been totally normal. My cramps are a little worse than on the pill, but my periods are still way better (less heavy, less cramps, more regular) than they were before I went on the pill.
However, I didn't lose any weight, and I started breaking out. Breaking out on my back was the only difference I noted. I'm on an anti-testosterone pill now that's taking care of the backne. :(

I'm going on my 2nd month off BCP's I noticed my breast were very sore and I had some more cramping than while on BCP's. I haven't lost weight, which I was hoping for.
Good luck with everything!

going off the pill helped my sex drive, my weight (gradually), and I really think it helped with some pretty bad depression (going off it, that is.)
good luck! if you are interested in charting- either to avoid babies or make them, there are great support groups in the family planning groups section of all things family.

Wow, somehow I forgot to subscribe to this thread (even though I posted it). Thanks for your answers and support, everyone. :)

Since going off the pill, I have noticed that I am less likely to get headaches during my period.
However, I have not experienced the reduction in yeast infections or the increase in sex drive that I went off the pill for in the first place.
