Anyone here been? Where did you stay? What activities did you do, restaurants, etc?

I'm looking for somewhere for us to vacation late this summer. Other possibilities are a Windjammer Barefoot cruise or maybe a luxury all-inclusive in Mexico. I love the Carribean though-we especially love St.John but want to go somewhere new-but also looking for somewhere similar to STJ which means low key and not super touristy.

I honeymooned there 5 years ago and loved it. At the time it was super low key and not very touristy at all. We stayed on the island of Provodinciales (Provo). Beautiful, clear, calm water. I've never been anywhere else in the Carribbean, so I can't compare for you. But my DH has been and he thought the island was beautiful also. One of the nicer one's he's been to.

We stayed in a time share resort call Alexandra Resort and Spa. It was very new at the time, one building, no pool, no restaurant, no bar. But we had a good time. They have since really built it up and it looks to be much nicer from its website. Also on the Island is Beaches (family), Allegro- all inclusive, Club Med and a couple of others. We spent a day at Allegro on a day pass, it was real nice.

Any other questions- let me know. Glad to help if I can.

I stayed in Provo and really liked it. There are several nice, upscale resorts there. You can check out www.provo.net

When I was there, I was on a private boat in a marina so I can't vouch for any particular resort. Although my friend stayed at The Turks and Caicos Club and really loved it. Sportfishing is a big activity there (and the reason I was there)...the billfish bite is great in the summer months. We did a lot of fishing, hanging out, and some shopping. SO and I also snuck away just the two of us for some mini golf - they built a new course at what seemed like out in the middle of nowhere. We rented an SUV (made by Dihastu??) and it was pretty cheap and hardly burned ANY gas.

We stayed at Turtle Cove Marina. There is also a Beaches Resort in Provo and a Club Med. The Grace Bay Resort I hear is also fantastic. Unfortunatly, I didn't get to visit any of these places during my stay.

Baci Restaurant is really good, its an italian restuarant located on the dock in Turtle Cove but they are closed on Sunday.

Baci Restaurant is really good

I guess we hit it on a bad day. We hated it. I was just coming back to post about it. LOL we had decided that we would do one nice dinner out since it was our honeymoon- it was the worst dinner we had. Oh well, could've been the cook that night.

I was there in June or July (can't remember) and the weather was great! I think you'll really like it.

I went for my honeymoon in mid July. It was awesome. We stayed on the island of Provo. Simce you are going just the two of you- maybe you would want to stay away from Beaches. Its very family oriented. Allegro is all-inclusive as well as Club Med. We stayed at the Alexandria Resort- but it is a time share. Its been 6 years since I was there, so a lot has probably changed. But one thing for sure- it is beautiful. I can't wait to go back.

We have decided that we are going to Turks and Caicos for sure - at the end of June! That is so soon that I have got to get planning ASAP! I would love to hear other recommendations for resorts, restaurants, and activities!

We booked it! We're staying at the Regent Palms at the end of June. I really want to charter a boat to sail around the smaller islands too!

There is good Sportfishing there that time of year. If its some your DH (or you) are into, its a lot of fun. June-August is great for the Blue Marlin and they are a ton of fun to catch. Turtle Cove Marina would be a great place to start for Charters and boating.

We stayed on Provo in 2003 and it was gorgeous! We had a villa on the south side of the island and did most of our eating at the villa, so I can't really help with restaurant recs. We did venture out to the Sharkbite Bar & Grill for a few late-night Caribs though :). We were there during off-season (August) so it was very quiet on the island and places weren't open late.

WRT chartering a boat, we met a man named Edward at the marina who took us out on his private (really nice) boat. He took us to iguana island, and sightseeing around the neighboring islands. At one beach he grilled us a fresh lunch! It was an amazing day - we even had Jojo the dolphin swim with us for a while! The guys in our group had him take them out fishing later in the week. I'm sure he's still around, so ask about him at the marina and he'll take great care of you.

Have a wonderful time!

I loved Sharkbite. We went there a few times. Even stopped on the way to the airport for one last quick bite. We took a snorkeling cruise, lots of fun. Also visited Iguana Island on that cruise. We saw JoJo also. So cool to be so close to them. Wish I had met Edward though- he sounds cool!

Just returned from a fantastic trip to T&C! We stayed at the Regent Palms, which was incredible! The restaurant, Parallel 23, is also amazing - we had a wonderful candlelit dinner there our last night. I thought I would post a few pictures of the trip:
