DH got invited to go see it but has been sick.

I like a good fight. My dad was a boxer when he was in the Air Force and I have fond childhood memories of watching Muhammad Ali fights with him when I was a kid (really dating myself). :)

I remember watching fights with my dad, too!
BTW, I just realized that I didn't spell Mayweather's name right - I submitted a correction request! Oops!

Did you happen to watch the HBO hype?? It was really interesting! I can't believe the lifestyle Mayweather leads. de la Hoya seemed much more down to earth.
Oh, also, I guess the main event isn't on for another couple of hours. There are two fights before the main event. Dang.

No, we don't have HBO so I didn't see any pre-fight stuff. DH called his brother to ask him to Tivo everything for us.

My 15 year old son when to a friend's house to watch the fight. I'm not big on boxing, but like Sophia, I used to watch Muhammad Ali when I was little. My mother LOVED him and says that "he was like a ballet dancer in the ring".

I freaking HATE Mayweather!! I couldn't believe it when he came in wearing that sombrero and Mexican colors! What an ass...I was at a bar with my brother watching it, and there were a TON of Hispanic fingers in the air when he walked in! And the guys in his corner wearing shirts that said, "Mexico loves Mayweather." Nice...
I love De la Hoya, and was so sad to see him lose. He is just a class act all around I think. He handled all of Mayweather's shit with class. I wish he would have won, but I did agree with the decision. :(
On another note, Oscar was RIPPED!! My jaw dropped when they showed him at first (during weigh-ins I think). I've never seen him that defined and that ripped!

I begged DH to buy the fight tonight! We did and it was worth it-good fight. I wish de la Hoya could have won but at least it was close. I've been watching the HBO series-really interesting stuff.
