Ever since my daughter has been born I get a nasty lower back pain. I'm guessing from picking her up and carrying her around. I need to get it seen about but what should I do? See a doctor first or a chiropractor? I have really no clue since this is the first time I've had a nagging back problem. Anyway, any advice will help!

Thanks!

I've had back pain my entire life.

Go to the doctor first -- that way they can determine if you've got something seriously wrong with you (pinched nerve, slight disc displacement, hernia, etc).

If there's nothing there, and it's just inflammation, heating pads, warm baths, and ibuprofen are what make my life livable. I highly recommend the ThermaCare warmth sticky pads -- they sell them in drugstores -- because you can put them on under your clothing (they stick to your skin), and they work like a hot water bottle while you are on the move.

I agree, see a doctor first. A doctor could also prescribe anti inflammatory meds for you.

I've had a slipped disc twice in my lower back. Rather than seeing a chiropractor exclusively I saw (besides a doctor) a physio therapist who could combine light training with massages, traction, acupuncture and therapy that a chiropractor would typically do. I also had water therapy in a hot pool. That was heaven.

Good luck!
