Hi ladies. I apologize for being a total slacker and not even posting once in the last thread. I read along weekly, though. I can't believe we're coming into the last stretch!

A quickie update on me and now with the fresh thread I really intend to stick around. Let's see, I've been home on modified bedrest since mid-January, when I started contracting at 18w. The bedrest got stricter and stricter as my cervix got shorter and shorter. Three weeks ago I was hospitalized for 3 days and given steroid shots to develop the twins' lungs and also put on terbutaline to help stop the contractions. They were mild, but were contributing to my shrinking cervix, so my doc wanted them stopped. I've been on total bedrest and a 24/7 terbutaline pump for 2 1/2 weeks now and am doing fine, thank goodness.

The babies are doing great, though! They've been just fine all along. As of last Thursday, they are both head down and weigh 4 lbs 1 oz apiece. Their heart rates are great and they're sooooo active. We're 33 weeks today and thankfully past our first goal of 32 weeks. They'd be okay if they were born now, but every extra day baking is of course good for them, so we're really hoping to last as long as we can. We were afraid for a while we'd end up with April babies, but the way things are going, I'm so hopeful they'll wait till May - only 1 more week! Crossing our fingers for May 15 or later, though = hopefully by then they won't need NICU time, or at least very little!

Here are a couple of photos:

Baby B ("Laurel") (29w2d):

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well today and that it's okay if I join back in now! :)

To answer your question about a buddy posting for us, I have a friend on LJ who will be posting for me in my journal there, so I'll just have her come post over here, too, if that's okay. :)

jessmaine~Hope you have a great night alone!!! DH will also be gone for a couple of hours tonight...altho being at home all day by myself, I Hate to be alone at night:p
I told DH last night that when he gets home I need him to entertain me:p LOL!

Jenean~I was wondering about you!!!
That is SO GREAT that both of your babies are over 4 pounds! So they could come at anytime now!!!
Do you have your nursery and everything all ready? What is it like ot have to get ready for 2 babies? I couldnt imagine!!
You look GREAT!!!
Take care of yourself!

KeliAnn~So maybe we should just do what I suggested then? If someone wants a buddy just post saying you want one?

Birth Thread Buddies~If you want a buddy just post requesting one....if no one replies to your request, I will try my hardest to find someone or help you out myself!

The only change I want to make is to my appointment dates, I can only schedule my appointments 1 at a time so if you could take off the appointments for me except for May 2nd.

Jeaean - you look great!

Thanks for starting a new thread and taking care of it!

Sunshine, thanks! Yup, they could be here anytime now. That makes me kind of nervous b/c I know it's better off if they can wait. Luckily they seem to be happy to stay inside, so as long as we can keep my body from pushing them out too soon, we'll be all set! We have the nursery sort of ready. We're Jewish, so we're not bringing anything into the house before they're born, but the room is empty and painted and the furniture is all in and being held at the store's warehouse. We've got supplies enough for the first week or so and we did go ahead and install the car seats this past weekend. So I think we're as ready as we can be!

Amy, thanks!

Forgot to mention: please change DH's age to 31, and my next appointment is 4/26. Thanks!

Yay for a new thread!
I got excited and thought we had a baby.

Is anyone here on LJ - I am erinnj616 over there and would like some of my May mommies as friends as these babies start arriving. .....I will probably post there and ask someone to copy over.

Sunshine - I am with you on the being done. I am trying to enjoy this time but Im just soo uncomfortable at night and doing any small task makes me huff and puff like I may pass out.

Janean - Yay for checking in and I am hoping those babies stick for you until May! I love ur US pic where there heads are touching soo cute.

Jess- Yay for a nite alone. You can relax and watch American Idol!

Amy - Wow maybe you will go early....

CMW - My DH has been keeping my son home alot lately too and I get nothing done. I hear you on just wanting some space. Im totally laughing at the kicking the toy image, def something I would do.

The June babies will probably come before these May babies....

HI Ladies! Sorry that I have been MIA for so long but life is so hectic around here. I tried my best to keep up with the last thread but never had the time to post. I am hoping to try and stick around this time!! My mom is arriving this weekend to help me for about a month so maybe that will free up some time for me!!
Update- I went to the doctor today and I am only 50% effaced and about 2cm dilated. I am hoping that these numbers increase fairly quickly as I am having constant (but not regular) contractions and my little guy's head is so low I feel like he is hanging out half the time. I guess its just so much harder this time around because I can't just rest whenever...having a 15 month old to chase all day makes all these pains worse!

Jenean-Congrats on making it this far.....I will say a prayer for you that the babies stay put for another 2 weeks or so! You look great btw!!

I'll try and check back in tomorrow sometime!!
Good night Ladies!!

Dang it - new thread and a leading title - I thought we had an arrival already! But good babies - keep baking kiddos!

I really thought that Friday that I was a goner - I was nauseous, tons of cramping, sore back, just felt like poop. Called into the nurses line and I think the nurse thought I was crazy – she kind of laughed and said “well, you are in your 37th week – we aren’t going to do anything to stop a delivery at this point!” It just sent me into a panic. I’m so not ready at work. Home – we can wing it. And I think all the emotions of how depressed I was during the early part my dd’s delivery came flooding back. But I’m in a better spot emotionally today. I gave up on real shoes at work – sneaks are out and I dare someone to challenge a pg woman on our dress code at this point. It’s their own life they are putting in jeopardy. :)

From the last thread – the comments about how life is going to change and never getting to have my family as it is today. That has hit home. A friend actually brought that up weeks ago to me and it just seemed strange to even consider it an issue. Now it seems really real. But at least it is a change for the good – I still can’t get over how I can love my family more everyday and to be blessed enough to add another member is just an amazing gift.

As for last pregnancy – we’re not sure. We’ll see what’s in the cards. (But I just did the math on our daycare bill – the fact that we could payoff all our bad debt within a year with all that we are paying this year is pretty depressing)

But we are plugging along! And peeing along. And stretching along (anyone else have stretch marks that look like crop circles around their bellybuttons? ). And aching along. And...

Wow, the first baby of the bunch! :)

Congratulations Melody and welcome to the world baby Hamilton Rebekah She's Adorable!!!!

I'm 38wks 3days today. Had my 39 wk appt today (my appts are ahead of schedule) I was hoping to get an internal to see if I made any progress, but no such luck. I have a feeling I won't be getting one next week either. We'll see. Baby is fine I gained 1lb from last week, oh well.

Everything with baby is great HB 135, approx wt is 6.5-7lbs, still head down but still floating around a little bit. I thought she dropped since she literally sits in my lap and pokes my thighs

Next appt is Tuesday May 1st DR will schedule induction for the following week if I haven't given birth by EDD (5/5) BUT I'm going to a pizza place that is famous for kick starting labor :p I'm hoping it works for me!

Hang in there ladies!!!

Jenean, I´m sorry you had such a difficult pregnancy! Makes me feel really bad for complaining about the little things I had. I´m crossing my fingers for you that your babies decide to stay inside a little longer. But great that you´ve already made it so far!

Congratulations Melody! Welcome baby Hamilton Rebekah, she is adorable!

I had quite a few BH contractions lastnight again but they seem to have stopped for now. Question for all of you, I know you can walk around dialated at 1-3 for a while but is it the same for effacement? I'm assuming yes, but as i'm 80% effaced, i'm hoping I can go at least another week. Of course i'm probably getting myself worked up about nothing, she will probably be late still *lol*

Lora I added you as well. =) (I'm a friend of Sam's, too, on your list.)

Jenean I'm so sorry that you've had it rough, all that bedrest, etc., but I'm glad those babies stayed put!!

bella I don't have any shower pix! I didn't bring a camera, neither did my mom, and the hostess is AWFUL at sharing pix online. She'll probably print them and then I might be able to scan them later, but who knows. Picture this: We were inside, around a dining room table with nice silver and china (it was raining outside), and on the table were danishes, chocolate dipped strawberries, fancy muffins, an egg and sausage strata (casserole), and fruit skewers (chunks of melon, pineapple and strawberry threaded onto sticks like kebabs, all arranged like a bouquet in a half of a pineapple). To drink, orange juice, mimosas, and sparkling apple cider. The favors at the table were bars of soap wrapped in pink and white washcloths, with the ends pulled up to make long bunny ears and there were little eyes and fluffy noses glued on to make the bundles into bunny faces. Ta-DAAAAH! You are there! =)

Hawaii2SJ Umm, hi, you KNOW I live in SJ and you don't even post the name of this magical pizza place?? :p Share, share!!! :D

 Okay, random strangers and all whom I meet--ANYone else want to comment on how huge my stomach is and how I'll *never* make it another 5 weeks??? Or how you thought (when you saw me) that I must be due TOMORROW???? I KNOW I'm sticking straight out, but I was bigger with Zach and he was born *on* his due date, so just put a sock in it. You are not helping me at ALL! I have gained 26 pounds, which is exactly what is recommended in Your Pregnancy, Week by Week, and it is actually a freakin' miracle, considering I lost 20 pounds at the start and could barely eat for weeks. Y'all can stuff it!

Hawaii, enjoy the pizza. :D

bellabonga, aw, thanks. Honestly, I don't feel like it's been that difficult overall. The early contractions were scary, but managed by modified bedrest for so long. It was actually kind of nice to be pulled out of work so early so that I could have the time at home to get ready and get rested! The last few weeks haven't been great, but overall I think I'll look back on our pregnancy as a good experience.

LILRTL, congrats on your new cousin!

Chicksinger, thanks. It really hasn't been that bad. Other than being uncomfortable (which I know just about all of us are by now), it's not too awful. I'm definitely getting a lot of reading done! It sounds like your shower was lovely. :)

Chicksinger - I feel that way too! There are some things you should NEVER say to a pregnant woman.

Among them (all of these have been said to me in the past 8 months):

"You are HUGE!!" or "You look like you're going to have the baby any second." Etc.
"Was it planned?" or "Were you trying? For how long?"
"Homebirth?! Are you crazy? You'll be begging for drugs. How could you do that to your baby?"
(Side note: I'm taking a prenatal exercise class, and we were talking about how it doesn't matter what plan you have for your birth, everyone is a critic. Women in the class planning c-sections or epidurals had been told that they were whimps, women planning any kind of un-medicated birth that they wouldn't be able to handle it. Argh. You can't win!)
"You don't know the gender?! (Gives me a skeptical look) It's ok you can tell me." (Um, no I'm not lying to you I really don't know.)

The funniest one, though was “Oh, you’re not that fat.” Gee thanks!

Erin~I AM on lj, and spend most of my time over there too. I added you! (My username starts with a "d")
And when I saw your post about how the June babies will be here before the May ones, I had to whole-heartedly agree! LOL!
Now that we have our first, hopefully the rest will all start to follow!

Chicksinger~I hope you dont mind, but I added you to lj too. My username starts with a d. I noticed we have amutual friend too...lilbit :D
And I HATE how people you dont know feel the need to make comments...especially rude comments.....My hubby has given me some ideas on what to say back, but I am usually just so shocked that I dont even know What to say to someone back...

cgriffin~That is great that your mom will be staying with your for so long! And YAY for being effaced and dialated!!!! I cant wait for my next appoint to see if I have progressed at all.

gf&js~LOL about your shoes and the dress code at work. I gave up "real" shoes at work a few months before I left....and I said the same thing to anyone who commented too! LMAO!
Daycare costs are ridiculous.....I couldnt imagine having to pay for 2 right now....but that will come eventually! LOL!

CMW02~I hope you dont mind but I added you as a friend on lj. My username starts with a d. And I noticed that we have a mutual friend as well. Dukes_flygirl:D

Hawaii~I was surprised to find out my doc doesnt really like to do internals either. But he did say at my 39 week appoint he will do one. Its so weird how so many doctors do and have different opinions.
And Hmmmmmmm. I wonder if that pizza place delivers to Canada! LMAO!

LILRTL~That IS such a sweet name! Congrats to your cousin!
I also added you as a friend on lj. my username starts with a d.....I dont know why I didnt add you before when we both found out we were mutual friends of Taras!
Good luck with the walking!

Amy~YAY for more BH contractions...hopefully things will start for you really soon!

maniach~And that is the thing, other than feeling tired today, I am back to feeling optimistic! LMAO! I know that even if I do go overdue, I will be induced on the 14th of May....which really isnt that far away either.
I should just be enjoying my time and stop worrying about when baby comes. Baby will come when it wants to, not when I do! LOL!

Jenean~How nice of you MIL and neighbor! Hmmm, who could I get to bring me over some lunch! LOL!

Feisty~I get the "You dont know the gender...its okay, you can tell me" type comment ALL THE TIME! What is so hard to believe that we dont know?!?!? ugh.
I have 1 really good friend here in town who is SURE we are lying to everyone....
Well, we arent. And if we were, why would we tell you and not everyone else? LMAO!

Ugh... my DH might have kidney stones. Monday he was bloated and throwing up with a fever and back pain. Finally called the doctor today and they drew blood, did a urine sample and took x-rays. No infection and white cells are normal. Tomorrow he goes for something to look for kidney stones. <sigh> This baby can't come till he is better. So send sticky vibes my way. I am not too worried because she hasn't dropped and all that good stuff, but I really need her to stay put for a little while longer.

Ladies- thank you for all the wishes & warm welcome for Hamilton!

As for my birth story- I have replayed it over & over in my mind & am seriously debating sharing too many details with a group of women so close to delivering!

Let's just say, it went pretty much as far from the birth center, med-free, peaceful birth I had envisioned for us! We found out on Thursday evening that I have cholestasis, which is a rare disorder that can be very harmful to the baby (www.itchymoms.com). So, with the consult of a neonatologist, my midwives decided to start a chemical induction immediately the next day, Friday at 37w 5d. My body was not at all ready for labor- I was fully closed... My induction started with a 12-hour procedure to ripen my cervix. That didn't go as well as planned, so it was followed by a slew of other interventions that were painful, frustrating, and physically draining. Each day that passed we thought would be the day that we got to meet our baby. Finally, on Monday morning at 3:35am Hamilton came BLAZING into the world via vacuum extraction! I am thrilled to have my daughter here with us and thrilled that she is healthy. I am not so thrilled with the way she got here, but I am slowly coming to terms with the fact that we CANNOT plan these things, and in fact I don't think there is much I could have done to prepare myself for what I had to endure. It was a trying experience that helped strengthen the bond between my wonderful husband and I as we began the greatest chapter of our lives - parenthood...

I wish easy, quick, and healthy births for all of you!!! Please enjoy the last moments of pregnancy & take the time to appreciate the miracle of it all :)

giry76-Sending sticky vibes your way until DH feels better. I can relate to the pain he is in...I recently dealt with kidney stones once on valentines day where i was hospitalized for 2 days and once 2 weeks ago (thank GOd no hospitalization needed!) But let me just tell you, kidney stones while pregnant is the worst cause they cant give you all the amazing drugs!!

melody-Congratulations on your beautiful baby girl! I am so happy for you. Enjoy this next phase of them being so tiny it will be over in a blink of an eye!!

Hawaii2SJ-Hope that pizza works for you! I wish they had a place like that here in PA!

Feisty- Haha!! I liked your list of things you should never say to a pregnant woman. In all honesty with they way our hormones are people should just realize that ANY comment could be taken wrong depending on our mood. One day I got pissed cause a guy guessed I was only 7 months when I said I was 9 months he said wow! And instead of being happy that he thought I looked good for how far along i was I was pissed cause all I wanted was to have this baby. Anything that reminded me of being pregnant longer was NOT something i wanted to hear.....and of course the next day when someone told me i looked like i would go any day that pissed me off! You can't win with us preggos!

melody Don't feel badly about talking about your birth story! I know how hard it is to end up with the antithesis of the birth you planned for! I do believe what you said, that the experience strengthened your bond with DH. This happened for us, too, as my DH watched for 3 days as many interventions did not work, never knowing how or what to do that would help and support me. He's always been a sweetie to me, but after Zach's birth, DH couldn't stop telling people how proud he was of me, and that I was just the best wife and mom ever. :D Even though I was miserable about my c/s and am now wishing hard for a VBAC, I know that Zach's birth and the imminent birth of baby girl, however it finally happens, are huge events in our marriage that show us the true core of how we trust and rely on each other.

Congratulations Melody! It certainly sounds like every bit the trying experience, but you sound really good and she looks precious and healthy. :)

Jenean I'm sorry it has been rough but you are hanging in there and the babies are healthy! A friend of a friend just had twins and she was able to hold them in until week 37 somehow. Best of luck and keep us in the loop!

gf&js I might be with you on the belly button crop circles, I am calling this little spot over my belly button a "stretch spot." Its not quite the same color as a stretch mark so I'm hoping its not!

Hawaii2SJ Pizza famous for starting labor? I haven't heard of that!

ChickSinger Heh, you must have missed my last post in the last thread...this past weekend I was at a wedding and lets just say that if the person didn't know me then they were busy telling me that I looked like I was about to give birth any second. I'm not due until the end of the month either and I am not usually told that I look HUGE so this was the start of it for me. I hated it too! I was telling my MIL about it as we walked into a restaurant afterwards and some lady yelled, "Honey, what are you waiting for?" as I was telling her the story. Would you ever think to *yell* that to anyone? Even someone who really is overdue??? I totally get it.

Feisty Ummmm, “Oh, you’re not that fat.” -- are you serious? That is so ridiculous.

giry76 Oh that sucks, I hope your husband feels better ASAP and the baby stays put for now.

Ladies, I am on LJ too with the same username. I know I'll feel more comfortable over there with photos and all that good stuff so I'm adding the names that I've seen on this thread. Sunshine if you want to put me on your FL first then I can add you after.

I had an appointment today and all was good. I got my Strep swab. This was the final doctor that I had to meet at the practice and I liked her a lot, I liked all of the doctors except for one so that is pretty good. My weight is okay enough, 32lbs so far. I was just hoping not to go over 35 so I guess we'll see what happens. Despite what the books say, I still have a monster appetite. The baby's heartbeat sounded so loud and for the first time it really sounded the same as a typical heartbeat to me, really cool.

Last night it felt like the baby was stretching and I could feel something as low as my hipbone while also getting some feet up high. It was cool but also a little weird. He's getting big in there!

Not much else is new, I'm also glad for this new thread and the first baby! I was having equal feelings of excitement and anxiety before, now there is definitely more excitement. :D

nothing much new here, still having BH contractions although they aren't close enough together to call the doctor. We did get the car seat base put into the car tonight though just in case.

I'm still so excited we finally have a healthy birth!

Quick questions -

chicksinger - you said you got a sit n' stand stroller - which one did you get? We are really looking at this option and would love to have another parent's opinion.

centralized pain - anyone else have a spot on their belly that just aches like a big old bruise? On my upper right side of my belly - it just feels like that's where I'm taking a constant beating. I know the butt is up there quite often so I don't know if it is just everything being stretched or if there could be something else going on?

Notes from the Underbelly (on ABC) - anyone watched this? The previews look pretty good - I just haven't caught it yet - is it worth it?

Chicksinger, thank you for your shower description! That was as good as seeing pictures! :D

Jenean, you really have a great attitude! :)

giry76, what a bad timing! Your poor DH and poor you! I´m crossing my fingers for you that your baby takes it time and waits until your DH feels better. And that your DH feels better soon.

melody, that sounds really awful. It´s always sad when a birth is so different from what you wished for but a birth going on for several days sounds really, really awful. I hope you are recovering well. And Hamilton is just too cute! :)

Yesterday the parcel man brought my changing table! So now I have the bed ready, have a stroller, a car seat, a wrap, a sterilizer, a Tummy Tub and a regular bath tub and DD´s clothes. Now I only need new bottles, a sun canopy and raincovers for the stroller and the car seat and then everything is ready. Suddenly it really looks here as if we would have a baby soon! :D I still can´t imagine it...

Notes from the Underbelly - DH and I watch it and love it. We missed last nights though so i'll have to go online and watch it.

centralized pain - not here, yet..although sometimes when she kicks my side it feels like she is going to kick herself out *ouch*

Bellabonga - sounds like you are almost ready! I still can't beleive that it's almost May, it seems like only yesterday that we were just newly pregnant.

Melody: I am so glad things turned out well in the end and baby is healthy. I was a totally itchy mom at around 37wks and I was SO AFRAID of cholestasis. Luckily for me, my blood work all came back normal. Did you have
itchy skin too. How were you diagnosed?
Again, congrats on Hamilton, she is gorgeous!!

Today is my last OB appt. She said same as usual but a little bit of paper work to complete for Monday's surgery.
OMG...I cant believe its finally almost here. I am counting it down now. I am SO VERY ready. :p
My evenings are just horrible. Each bedtime, I just {sigh}, because I know the next 8 hrs are not going to be fun. I've been on the couch this week because its more comfy, forgiving, then our bed. I know the sleep time wont increase and I'll have a crying baby to deal with, but somehow, that seems better than a baby on my insides, moving around, making it uncomfy for me and to not be able to breathe. LOL! I'm just ready to have him out!

4 full days left and counting....

Man, this thread is moving. I'll have to just hit a few random replies because I can't keep up with all of them.

melody: Thank you for sharing your birthing story. I think it's good to hear all of them, and I'm just so glad that you and Hamilton are healthy! She really is a beautiful baby. :)

I cannot believe several of you are going to have babies next week!!!

Notes from the Underbelly: I didn't like it last week, and I kinda watched it last night, but it's just not my cup of tea.

bella: Sounds like you're ready!!

jenean: You're doing great -- hope those babies stay put for a little while longer.

------------------

Happy Full Term Day to me!! ;) I can't believe we're already at 37 weeks! I've got one more week of work, then my mom is coming up from Georgia for a couple of days the week after that. Then, the next week is D-Day! CRAZY!

I'm seriously Fat Woman Waddling at this point. By the end of the day, I feel like baby is just going to fall out. LOL. Last night, my husband was out of town, so I had the bed all to myself - and it was the first time in a long time where I slept through the night! I think I'll be moving into the guest room tonight.

Feisty, good grief. People are amazing! My FIL likes to tell me how big I'm getting. So far I have refrained from telling him that it's only in the last few weeks that he looks less pregnant than me. :D

Sunshine, yeah, it was very sweet of her. She's not usually the kind of person who goes out of her way to do things for others, but since I've been pregnant with her grandchildren, she's gotten much better. :)

giry, how awful! I hope he's through the worst of it fast!

melody, I'm sorry you didn't have an ideal situation, but glad that you had a good outcome!

ummserious, thanks, everyone is so happy that we're past 33 weeks now, but I really want to make it to at least 35 or 36. I think I can, I think I can... ;) I'm glad you had a good appointment yesterday!

gf&js, I've seen it. It's cute. Have you read the book? I read the first one (that the show is based on) in a day (of course, I have the time for that!) and need to go get the second one.

bellabonga, thanks. I've had my freaking out moments, but for the most part I am and try to be a positive, glass-half-full person! I'm glad you have just about everything you need. Just need the baby now. :p

CMW02, wow, 4 more days! How exciting!

KeliAnn, thanks! Happy Full Term Day indeed! You look so great!

We had a pretty good appointment today. I don't know how, but somehow Laurel managed to flip over yet again and now its head is up under my left boob. Even the tech was amazed. There's not really a lot of room left in there! Sigh. So Laurel is transverse across the top of my uterus and Hardy is still in the same head-down position on the left. Its head is causing all the pressure I feel, pushing right down on my cervix. I can't remember which weighed which, but the weights were 4 lbs 5 oz and 4 lbs 7 oz, so just under 4 1/2 lbs, and hopefully on track to be close to, if not over, 5 lbs by next week. I really really hope we can make that milestone! Everyone at the office was so excited that we made it this far and my midwife is still hopeful that we can make it a little longer. I am, too!

Some very good news = I'm allowed to go to DH's best friend's wedding on Sunday. I adore this friend of his and really wanted to be there. This guy is going to be godfather to one of the babies. I'll give myself a booster dose of my meds before we go, and I'm only staying for the ceremony (and maybe a few minutes of the cocktail hour if I'm feeling okay) and then we're going to arrange for a car to take me home. DH will stay b/c he's in the wedding party and is giving the toast at the reception. So hopefully on Sunday I'll wake up feeling good and be able to go and enjoy! My only dilemma = figuring out what to do with my meds pump! I can't really have the tubing snaking out from under my dress, so I think I might have to find a way to strap it to my leg or something. I wonder what I did with the garter from my wedding...... ;)

My next appointment is May 3 for u/s and OB.

Wow -- our first baby! Major congratulations Melody and welcome to beautiful Hamilton Rebekah!!! What fun -- and SO glad that you all discovered the problem, even if it meant a not-so-ideal birth experience. Hugs to you (and don't feel bad for feeling bad, if you do -- I know it took me a while to move past my altered birth plan, emotionally.)

Took no notes from the rest -- sorry! It really is flying in here today! Still in a state of general pissed-offedness, so I'm not very good company LOL

Threadmistresses, Updates for the first page: Whitney is now 13 months, and my only scheduled appt right now is May 4 Thanks again for doing such a great job keeping up with all of this!

Someday I will get it together and go figure out LJ, I guess :) so I can friend all of you!

Had an OB appointment today. Baby still hasn't dropped and I am not dialated at all. So your sticky vibes must be working. DH woke up feeling better today. Back pain was gone. He went for the test to look for the kidney stones but they said it could take a week to get the results... But he is feeling better and that is what matters at the moment.

Had a couple of "fake" contractions last night again....I was excited tho since I was SURE I was going into labour a couple of weekends ago, and since then all contractions had pretty well stopped:p

Had my dr. appointment this morning... I haven't progressed at all since last week. Made an appointment for Monday to do some sort of prostoglandin gel thing. Sounds like a good time. I have to be at the hospital for 2 hours! But, it may or may not start labor. I guess they were curious because I have been having contractions all week but they don't seem to be doing anything.

Today was my last day of work! It was such a long day. I wanted to work 9AM to 3 PM but I was there until 5:30! I'm exhausted. But at least I don't have to worry about it anymore, that's a relief. I almost feel bad because we have so many projects due, but there's only so much I can do about that.

Anyway, I hope everyone else is doing well!

Hey everyone. I hope that you are doing well this morning. Any more babies yet? :)

I did NOT sleep well last night...or the night before...or the night before. Seriously, how are you all getting enough good rest? I am so tired at night, but between getting up to pee every two to three hours (and I swear that it's like clock work....the same times every night!!) and the baby kicking, squirming, whatever on either side that I lay on, sleeping has been so hard. I took a half day off of work Thursday, came home, and actually slept pretty well.

Sorry to complain so much.....

Anyway, I have pretty much decided that my last day of work will be either Wed. May 9th or Thursday May 10th...so I have that to look forward to. I had hoped to work until the 18th, but I just don't think that's going to happen. I have not been able to sit with my feet up like my doctor wants me to, and so my feet, toes, ankles, and fingers have been really horribly large. I think that Sunshine said that her feet and ankles were kind of stiff due to swelling, and I had that too last night. Not as bad this morning, but last night when I looked at them I literally screamed. DH laughed and just said that they'lll probably get worse before it's over.

I have to RANT!!! So, technically today is my due date and DH is getting all whiny about why I have to "hold her in" and am I going to "let her out sometime soon" and all this crap, like I have ANYTHING to do with it at ALL!!! So then, yesterday's my last day at work so I was away from my computer so I wasn't able to share the news re: my dr. appt with my mom (we IM a lot). When I got home, I sent her an email about what the dr said (no change since last week, not favorable for induction, going to get this PG gel, etc). She FORWARDED it on to her best friend... As if that's not bad enough (I mean, why is information regarding my cervix being emailed around), her friend emails her back about how she and her husband watched some show and that all these inductions are being done for "convenience" but every day that the baby is in the womb is necessary and "God's will" so don't "waaaaah" about it. And my mom sent this back to me. I'm not going to even get into my religious beliefs, but allow me to indicate that I don't necessarily believe that. PLUS I wasn't EVEN "waaaah"ing about anything, I was simply sharing information with MY MOTHER!!!!!!! I am SO IRRITATED that the HOT TOPIC of conversation is MY CERVIX and that people are talking about stuff that they don't know anything about!!! I've never even indicated to my mother OR her BF that I would WANT an induction even if I were "favorable". And, of course, I can't rant at my mom because that doesn't do anyone any good. So, I'm very sorry, but I have had to share this rant with you guys

At this point I want to go into labor just so people will leave me alone about it. Isn't it sad that everyone else is more excited about it than ME? Of course, none of them have to go through labor, they just get a baby at the end of it. And I'm still pretty paranoid about labor

CMW02
04-28-2007, 11:38 AM
Maniach: HUGS!! I know how awful it is when people share your TMI stories for you. Just ignore and move on. :D
Try not to worry about the labor...I know easier said than done. But, seriously, you will surprise yourself at how strong you are! I was in the labor room when my nephew was born and I was SCARRED for life....but then when I was in labor, I remember thinking that being the one in labor..was definitely better...b/c you didnt have to *see it* all AND you are kinda (not actually really) but kinda in control. That probably made no sense..I'm just having a hard time putting words together lately.LOL
Just dont be scared...its going to be GREAT!

Suz: I totally hear you on the lack of sleep and getting up at the same time every night. I think I sleep an average of 4 hours a night only. I go to bed around 11pm, wake at 130ish, and am up until around 4, back down until 6...and then I'm officially up for the day. It SUUUUUUUUCKS! AHHAHAHHAHA

I know we are all getting to the end....are any of you having any "show"? I remember in our labor classes our teacher spoke of (TMI Ahead) bloody show which was a sign that labor was coming (possibly) w/in the next few days. I never got any...was induced w/DD at 41w...so I have no experience w/losing the MP or the BS..but just wondering if anyone has experienced it yet b/c that may be a good sign of impending labor!

Well, I'm ready. 2 more days including today.
My parents came over yesterday and totally helped me around the house. My dad put up shelves and curtains that I've been meaning to do forever. My mom helped by "directing" what to do..haha..oh and she bought pizza and stuff for dinner which was nice. It felt good to be pampered but I was on my feet all day and by 10pm, I had these HUGE cankles! :)
Today my H is working in the yard and I'm gonna clean out my car and vaccum..so needed. Then I'm off to get a haircut and maye mani/pedi.

Then tomorrow, mom is coming back to just CLEAN the house...top to bottom...wash floors, bathrooms etc..get the house in tip top shape....so we can leave for the hospital w/a clean house on monday morning at 5am.

WOW! I'm still in shock that its happening.....

CMW02 Good Luck on Monday! Can you send your mom to my place when she's done? ;) (by the way, if you have time to check in there, I added you over on LJ) ChickSinger I added you as well. I think everyone else I connected with.

Keli and Alice that is funny with the photos of sitting on the bal at the computer. I've been using mine at night to do some exercises before going to sleep but never got used to using it as a chair. You guys look great.

Suz I have been having regular nights of bad sleep too, I hope you get some good nights in there soon.

Maniach That is ridiculous, of course you aren't holding your baby in. I'd be annoyed with the mom's BF as well. :( Of course you are excited but its perfectly fine to get a little worried about the labor and be thinking about what the doctor wants to reccomend and what you should do. There is a lot to think about. You are almost there though, hang in there.

gf&js
04-28-2007, 01:52 PM
Maniach - I completely feel for you. The message you sent your mom sounds familiar to the one I sent out on my due date with DD 2 years ago. It is really rough to be sitting and waiting, and waiting, and waiting. Nobody wants to see everything move along more than you but you are doing exactly what you need to do - looking at your options and making the best decision for you. Hang in there and feel free to let it all out on us - we're here for you!

"show" - I'm a freaking sludge factory right now. No blood or anything - but lots of mucus-y stuff. Sorry if that's TMI but holy buckets - the drainage is happening. It's such a comfortable feeling....

appt update - saw the OB yesterday - he doesn't really believe in during internals at this point unless since it really doesn't mean much until labor really starts. I measured fine and baby's hb was good. My weird bruise like feeling on my belly is actually something he hears quite often so he wasn't worried. Tested + for GBS - bummed because I hated the antibiotics last time but oh well - there are worse things in life. And then I finally hit the point I never wanted to on the scale - I surpassed into the world of a number I've never had start my weight before. Ice cream - here I come. I don't give a sh*t anymore. :o

work - I'm so ready to be done. I've had it with people's comments of either "thank god you are still here" to "oh, you're still here". I want to work through Tuesday, and then I don't really care. I've started slacking on my hours but my brain capacity is just not there so why waste their time and mine.

bad sleep - too bad it's getting us ready for the world of not sleeping for more than 3 hours straight again for a while once baby gets here but man oh man - can't we all have a few good nights?

Fingers are crossed for a few more healthy deliveries to start us rolling in the next few days!

CMW02: Good Luck Tommorrow. We will be thinking about you! You are so lucky to be done with pregnancy. Come back soon and fill out in about the new babe:)

Not much happening here. I just am tired and grumpy. I can't even get the rest of Reids room finished. I just don't have the energy. My DH has been working 7 days a week and he does not have the time to help. UGGGG.....

I had tons of contractions last night. I really thought the baby was coming. It is way too early for me but... I would like to feel better soon.

maniach: Hopefully the baby wants to come out soon:)))) I had Paige on my due date, I swear it was becasue the night before I had 2 glasses of red wine and some sex, and went into labor in the middle of the night. Can't say the fooling around was fun but the wine tasted good :)

Jess -- Have been thinking about fooling around, but she is so low in my cervix that I'm afraid to give her a concussion, lol. Although, at this point, I might try it tonight because I'd rather "induce" the natural way than with the PG gel as they have me scheduled for tomorrow. Either way, hopefully in a few days it will all be over :-P. Have to admit, I'm still scared of labor either way. Almost started crying when the nurse said that the PG gel might cause me to go into labor. You'd think 9 months of getting used to something would make it a little easier. It doesn't.

Hope everyone is doing well today! Good luck tomorrow CMW02! I'm sure we will all be thinking of you.

Just saw on LJ that contractions started and she was 3 cm dilated, probably more by now! Yippee! :D

Also, GOOD LUCK to all the mamas headed for their births or inductions tomorrow!! We can't wait to meet your little ones! :)

Keli Ann and Alice I have the exact same ball, too.

Maniach I'm with you on the "oversharing". I think when you get down to the last days, you have to specify "do not forward", etc., 'cause parents get sooo excited. With DS, my dad was calling every.single.day for th last week.

paranoid about labor I know it's easy to get anxious as you get closer, but I found that once it started, I really just wanted it to keep going. I couldn't hold on to my nerves, I could only be in the moment and let it ride.

not sleeping I am up constantly, too, and once up it takes almost an hour to sleep again. I guess my body is back in training to get up all the time with a newborn!

Good Luck Erin!

Don't be scared about labor. i really thought it was the BEST part of being pregnant! All this suffering is over is less than 24 hours:)

I thought labor was fine and think you get a cute baby when you are done :)

So close....so close....but I dont feel like baby is wanting out yet....

KeliAnn~I was so hoping being nauseus was a sign, but apparently for me, that day, it wasnt:(
CUTE PIC!!!!

suzfuzsunflower~Yes, my feet and ankles get stiff from swelling....I swear I waddle around more due to that than baby:p LOL!
How nice of you DH to remind you it will prob get worse before it gets better. Arent husbands wonderful sometimes? LOL!

maniach~OMG!!!! Some people just dont know what to say and when to shut up.....I would have been pissed to read that. I cant believe your mom sent it to you!!!
And I agree that it seems like alot more people are more excited about baby than us....I am SO EXCITED but I am getting SICK of telling people everyday that NO I havent had baby yet and NO I dont know when baby is coming, and NO I CAN NOT TELL AND I DONT FEEL ANY DIFFERENT!
ugh.

CMW02~OMG, I am getting so excited for you! I can not BELIEVE that you will have baby in your arms tomorrow!!! GOOD LUCK! I cant wait for the message:D

RicosAlice~Too funny about your pic too...I am sitting on my ball as we speak! LOL! I Love your shirt! It looks so similar to one of my fav shirts....that doesnt fit anymore:(

gf&js I just realized I never answered you about the Sit 'n' Stand! Sorry! We got the Baby Trend (http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/601-7476336-6706501?ie=UTF8&coliid=I2F7G6TQLORR7Y&asin=B000BMJ6VG&colid=3PYWPNRP0J9T5&bckreg=lc)brand:

**I haven't opened it yet.** I wanted one because Zach mostly walks next to me now, but I need a place for him to hitch a ride when he's tired or if we're in a crowded place and it's hard to watch him. I wouldn't have wanted one with 2 full seats or side-by-side seats. I like this one because you can snap a carseat on or use the seat when the youngest is sitting up. It has a one-handed fold, a big shopping basket underneath, and child AND parent cup holders (Joovy doesn't have that, and, well, cup holders are a very big deal to me!). The bench is not padded, but I don't thick that is a big deal. It has a tall handle (good for DH) and accessible brakes.

Baby Caleb arrived on 4-26-07 at 3:42PM. He was 7 lbs 9oz & 19 3/4 in. I made it through w/o an epideral and about an hour of pushing. While it was very painful, I have never experienced anything so incredible and amazing! He is a perfect little boy & he his breastfeeding like champ. Must go, he's hungry. I cannot handle pain! :) ALso, glad to hear that breastfeeding is going well. I am so happy for moms that have babies that are champs in that area because I know from experience how frustrating it can be when baby won't eat! Congratulations again!!

Congratulations Yolanda and welcome, baby Caleb! :)

Congratulations LILRTL and welcome, baby Evan! :)

KeliAnn and Alice, together your pictures are really funny! :D

maniach, I would be annoyed with your mom, too! I`m crossing my fingers for you that the natural induction worked (or that the gel isn´t too bad) and that it´ll be fast and a good experience.

CMW02, I know you haven´t even left yet for the hospital but I´m thinking of you.

gf&fs, what a bummer that you tested positive in the GBS test. But good that you had it done. And I hear you on the weight thing. I have gained so much more again than I had planned for. But just like you I think the damage is done now and I won´t worry about it for now. It´ll bring me down bad enough in a couple of weeks.

jessmaine, I know what you mean. I´m sooo tired, too! And that makes me grumpy because there is so much left to do and I just don´t have the energy to do it all. At least I ironed the huge pile of clothes yesterday that had built up on a chair for two weeks now. Took me only two hours. Has your DH agreed on Reid in the meantime?

Sunshine, I´m crossing my fingers for you too that you won´t have to wait for much longer! Maybe people are so over-excited because they want to know if you are having a boy or a girl. I am so curious too! Although I would bet that it´s a girl.

Chicksinger, I had no clue what a Sit ´n´ Stand was. I´ve never seen that before. Over here we only have what is called a Kiddie Board and you can attach it to most regular strollers. But yours looks and sounds very practical! Btw you would have a hard time over here because here cup holders are very uncommon. ;)

I have my last appointment with my regular doctor today at 4pm. I hope he will do a last ultrasound and not only bloodwork and CTG. Oh well, maybe I´ll just pay for the ultrasound myself if he does not want to do one. But I would feel much better about having such an early c-section if I got some up-to-date measurements of baby Milla. Or maybe not if she hasn´t grown that much. But either way I´d really to know. They will probably do another ultrasound on Thursday at the hospital but I don´t trust it as much as the ones my doctor does. When I had Maya, my doctor said she would weight 3500-3600g (that´s ~8lbs). At the hospital they told me one day prior to the c-section that she would most likely weight 2600g (~5.7lbs) and I freaked out because I feared that it might be too early for Maya. And what did she weight? 3590g! So I guess you know why I trust more in my doctor than in the hospital doctors.

Although I have most things ready for Milla, I still do not feel ready to have her. It is so fast suddenly! Only four more days of pregnancy left. I´m getting really sentimental about it because it´ll be my last. So I´ve already had my last Saturday, my last Sunday and now my last Monday of pregnancy ever. It´s weird that I get so sentimental about it because I don´t even like being pregnant that much. But right now I feel more or less okay and only have back pain and symphysis pain. Oh well, but I´m really excited to meet Milla in four days! Only 89-93 hours to go! I´m really wondering if she will look like Maya or if she will look totally different. And since I´m not breastfeeding, I´m really excited about having my body back to me. I´ve already ordered sushi, parmesan and a beer with lemonade to have brought to me while I´m at the hospital. *yippie*

Congratulations Yolanda & Lora --- welcome to our new babies Caleb and Evan!!!

Can't wait to hear the updates from Cindy and Erin :)

Maniach, ugh. Sorry to hear about everyone's reactions -- especially DH. If you send him over, I'll slap him for you. Your mother is, I'm sure, just excited, but seriously needs a clue on what to share (with others, and back with you!) How obnoxious.

Bella, so close!!! Can't wait to hear :)

I have the same silver ball, too LOL

Got in an extremely minor car wreck on Saturday -- both cars were stopped at a light, and the guy in front of me decides to back up and crunched up my bumper. Thaaaaanks. Just what I wanted to deal with -- getting a car repaired and dealing with insurance and a loaner car, right before I'm due. The guy was really shaken up, though, and has been on the ball with handling it from his end -- at least he's not being a jerk about it. He gets out and tells us he was on his way to get food for the brand new dog his wife brought home. My husband replied with something about how HE was on his way to feed his 5 year old, 1 year old, and 9 months pregnant wife. LOL Seriously, don't mess with us, we're mean and have no compunction about laying on a guilt trip.

I've been doing that deep-cleaning that mostly consists of heavy ridding out and organizing, and not much actual cleaning. Can Cindy's mom come to my house next??

My RANT for the week (although I still have a pretty good bitch on about my OB's office): My mom visited last weekend, and I am not kidding you, I got patronizingly cheered on for wanting to clean, and then a lecture about how hard she had to work to get this place in order last year when Whitney was born. I wanted to slap her -- SO sorry you felt you needed to stay up until midnight to do the family's laundry all at once. YES, I'm aware of how much laundry my family generates -- that's typically why it's never all done. Aside from that, though, I had the baby's room ready, the guest room ready, my older kid's schedule all laid out, the house had JUST been cleaned... and I worked until literally the day I went into labor. Arghh. If it's SUCH a burden, then why do you volunteer to come and stay for a week? And if you're wanting to not do "so much" then, then why not pitch in NOW and help me get started for the final prep, rather than do it all while caring for 2 kids once I'm in the hospital? My favorite part: during said lecture, she actually admitted (while thinking she was bragging on herself) that everyone always commented on how clean our house was when I was little, and that HAHA it was never really clean, just picked up. Good job, Mom, for creating the appearance of cleanliness.

DH at least is better lately -- he's been busting himself to get home a lot earlier, which helps. Now if he'd just stop considering things like a weekend trip for work when I'm 38wks pregnant...

It is finally May 1st!!! Our month!!! :D

So I had my final appointment yesterday. Everything was fine. I´m a bit low on iron, so I have bought juice with added iron to stock up before and after the c-section. During the CTG I had one contraction - the first and only I ever had during a CTG! My doctor did not check my cervix because of the c-section date on Friday, although it might be open already a little bit. At least it felt as if Milla were sticking a finger into it for three days in a row now. A little piece of me still hopes that Milla decides to come by herself tomorrow as it is full moon then. ;) I had a final ultrasound to check Milla´s measurements and she is right on time, maybe 2-4 days bigger. Her weight is estimated at 3100g (that is 6.83lbs). So she will be a lot lighter than Maya was at 8lbs as she is two weeks earlier. But nearly 7lbs will probably be okay, too.

Congratulations Erin!

My PG gel appointment was at 3 PM yesterday and they didn't even insert the stuff until like 5:15 then you have to lay there for 2 hours. They had me on my back at first and it was so uncomfortable! After I had a high BP reading after like an hour I got to roll onto my side, but it was still really uncomfortable. And... obviously, no labor. The nurse said that if the baby didn't come by my appointment on Friday they may try to induce me, ripe cervix or not. I really don't know how I feel about that. I know that it can cause "issues" to try to induce without the ripeness. I guess once you are too far past 40 weeks the placenta stops working as well and the baby can have a bowel movement in utero and they don't want that to happen. Sigh... I hope no one else gets to experience this fun!

jessmaine
05-01-2007, 08:27 AM
maniach: I hope the gel works. It must be so annoying to be so close, My best friend NEVER went into labor on her own and she was 2 weeks past due. She was induced and had no issues. Everything was fine. I am jealous that you are so close.... I have 25 days:(

I am still here... had contractions as close as 5 minutes apart for about a half hour then they slowed down for awhile. Called the doc. They wanted me to call back in an hour and let them know what happened. Of course in that hour they went to 12 minutes apart. So we are on the wait and see plan. Contractions are a bi**ch I must say.

KeliAnn, thank you!

suzfuz, I'm sorry you're not getting good rest. When I wake up to pee now in the middle of the night, I seriously consider just how badly I think I have to go b/f I make the effort to get up. Just rolling from side to side is such an effort!

maniach, I'm so sorry about the email situation! My mother has done that a bunch of times, even after I've asked her not to and it drives me nuts. I feel like b/w DH and our mothers, half the world knows exactly how we got pregnant and how every stage of my pregnancy has been going. I didn't even tell people I went into the hospital, but word has gotten around like a wildfire. I have already proclaimed to all parties that we are NOT sharing our birth story with the world and that I expect all of them to respect my wishes in that. I'm glad your gel appointment is done with and hoping for you that you see some action soon!

CMW02, so good that you had help around the house and were able to sit back and just watch!

Yolanda, CONGRATULATIONS and welcome to the world Caleb!!!!!! You are amazing for doing it all naturally and I am in awe! Enjoy every moment with him.

LILRTL, CONGRATULATIONS and welcome to the world Evan!!!!! I hope that all is going well and that everyone is enjoying the newest family member.

bellabonga, I'm so glad you got your u/s! I understand sentimentality and I hope you're enjoying these last few days. My hospital post-delivery food request is a big pastrami sandwich from the kosher deli in my ILs town. I can't wait!

Txfish, ugh, sorry about the accident, but glad to hear it was just a minor one. I hope the headaches that will surely result from having to deal with all of it aren't too bad! So sorry about the mom frustrations!

Erin, CONGRATULATIONS and welcome to the world Chase!!!!!

giry, crossing my fingers for you. Good luck!

Sunshine, progress, bit by bit! I hope things start moving along now!

Cindy, CONGRATULATIONS and welcome to the world Gavin!!!!!

All these boys! So exciting. Happy birth month everyone! I realized around lunchtime today, and shouted out to DH, "OMG, we're going to have two babies THIS month!!!" Crazy!

WE ARE 34 WEEKS PREGNANT TODAY! WOOHOO! I'm so excited to reach this next milestone. We're so excited! I still hope we can last another 2 weeks or so, but now I'm just so ready to meet them and start the next part of our life. Wow.

DH and I started packing my hospital bag yesterday. We got all the clothes in there. Toiletries will go in last minute. Today I'm filling out the hospital paperwork - living will and all that, and we'll pack another small bag with the "other" stuff like a couple of books/magazines, camera and charger, cell phone and charger, etc.

I never made it to the wedding this weekend. Long story short (the whole spiel is over in the June moms' thread if anyone is that curious), but the bride and groom basically uninvited me on Thursday night. I guess they had some concerns about me going into labor in the middle of it (and ruining it for them?) or something and didn't seem to trust the two medical professionals who said it was fine for me to go, or trust me to make the right decision for myself. I was only planning to go for the ceremony anyway. So I had a pretty crappy weekend as I had been soooooo looking forward to getting out of the house and going on one last "date" with DH. Ah, whatever. I was really hurt and cried a lot and now am just angry and pretty soon I'll move on to acceptance and be fine. Thankfully I have two babies to look forward to! :)

Congrats to all the new moms and the babies.

As for me. I swelled of the weekend. I had my DS birthday party and we have had warm weather so it just has not gone down. I have 10 days left and then I get my little one.

My dr appt went well. She did an internal and I am still closed up tight. We discussed the thought of a tubal or not. DH and I haven't really discussed this because our goal is a healthy baby. We have both agreed that we would like a girl. We should talk a bit more about a tubal or not. He also said to the dr that he would get snipped if we decided later. I need to shed some of the water weight that I have gained. If i don't I will have gained 19 lbs. So I will take that.

Chicksinger
05-01-2007, 06:56 PM
Jenean OMG, uninvited to a wedding?? I'm so sorry! :( I know it won't be a *big* deal once you are snuggling your new babies, but I would have felt the same as you!

My next appointment is on Friday, May 4, at 1:15, and I will be doing the GBS swab and getting an u/s to check on the baby's size. (Despite keeping my gain to 26 lbs., I am measuring large. DS was like this--really long legs.)

After that:
Thursday, May 10
Thursday, May 17
Thursday, May 24

I love the weekly appts! Time goes faster when I get to go in every 7 days!

Here's a good thing--yesterday at the grocery store, I turned around in line and the woman behind me said, "OH! From the back, I didn't know you were pregnant!" That was nice to hear, after all the people who have said, "Wow, you're so big, are you due tomorrow??"

Well I'm still here and pregnant :p at 39wks 4days. Appt yesterday DR did an internal and I'm only 1cm and my cervix is still High, Baby girls head still need to drop a little more too  Needless to say I was a littel disappointed and hoped I'd be a little more progressed than that. Tonight is PIZZA night!! we didn't have time yesterday but preggo pizza here I come!

Next appt: Thursday May 10th at 40wks 5days, if I show up for that then I'll be scheduled for induction. I"m hoping DD will arrive waaaaay before that. I'm gonna walk/waddle as often as possible!

congrats to all the new mommies and Good luck to everyone, this is our month!!!!

Hawaii -- I feel your pain! I am still (or was on Monday) 1 cm dilated. I was mostly effaced, and she's at station 0, but nothing else is going on... hence the PG gel. We'll see what happens at my appointment on Friday! I hope you start to progress!

I gained 1/2 poind and BP was 112/64

Oh Sunshine ... your siggie says it all. You are *totally* convinced you're having a girl! Because what boys are fashionably late!?!? ;)

I had my 37w appt on Monday and everything is fine. My doctor doesn't do internals, so I have no idea if we're progressing. That's fine with me ... I don't want the pressure of knowing either way.

Next appt is May 8.

I have been busy busy BUSY at work since this is my last week, but I'll be around more next week once I'm at home.

(Sorry for slacking on the co-threadmistress job, Sunshine! I really will be around next week, and hopefully, you'll have a baby by then!)

KeliAnn~Well.....unless you are talking about my husband......:p There probably arent too many men who are fashinably late:p I'm always waiting on him to finish getting ready! LOL!
And no prob! I've been trying to catch up the thread as much as possible b/c I know I wont be much help soon.....Hopefully sooner than later:);)
YAY for a good doc appointment! And my doc didnt do internals either. He did one at my 40 week appointment, and while it was fun to know body is starting to get ready, it really doesnt mean anything in the end anyhow....

Hi girlies!
First off, I just got home and checked my lj..apparently my "announcement" text didnt go thru. I am SO bummed!!!
the only one that came was the "update" that Chick posted yesterday but that wasnt THE one! LOL

My baby is here!

Gavin Elliott W. was born at 826am on Monday April 30th.
He weighed 8lbs 7.5oz and was 19.5" long.

The c-sec went really well. Such a difference to have a scheduled one as opposed to the emergency I had last time. Dont get me wrong, it still wasnt "fun", but the recovery aspect seems so much easier!

Gavin is the sweetest little guy on the planet. sorry, but I think I'm biased now. I love having a "son".
My DD cant keep her hands off him and its going to be a tad difficult to stop her from kissing on him so much like she does...it just worries me how excitable she can get and I worry she will squish him.

I have tons of pics to upload. I'll try to do that later today.

I hope the rest of you are feeling well. I'm SO happy not to be prego anymore...it feels so good. LOL!

this is giry76's husband kind of doing a quick post since she hasn't been able to get to a computer yet. I'm sure she'll have a lot more to say once she gets some internet access, so I suppose expect more details in the next day or so.

anyway, Mirei Fury Root was born May 2, 2007 at 6:39Am via C Section. we tried our best to do natural childbirth, but in the end it was discovered the pelvis was just too damn small for the baby to fit through (she had wicked cone-head when she came out from begin stuck in there for the last 2 days!).

mom and baby are healthy and happy, so everything is fine. I think the only thing we are waiting on to come home is mom's recovery from the surgery. Mirei is eating well and sleeping well, and if it wasn't for the rotten nurses coming in every hour to wake her up and piss her off we'd all be getting a lot more sleep ;)

that's all for now. Mom should be posting a lot more once she gets home, which is hopefully tomorrow.

Congrats to Cindy and Giry!!! Cindy, how cute that your daughter has that instinct.

Sunshine I'm sorry you are feeling so sad. :( I have had bouts of that where I was crying with no good reason. Could just be hormones, and possibly your hormones are changing to loosen things up? Its always so hard to tell, hopefully letting yourself cry will help.

I had a doctor appointment today. I am one cm dilated and 70% effaced. I know that doesn't mean that the baby is necessarily coming soon, but I'm happy to have made any progress. My last day of work is on Wed. :), and then dr. appointment is on Thursday the 10th. Oh, and I'm joining you all on feeling completely horrible. Lora and Cindy, you both look great! And your babies are just too beautiful! Hope Milla has so much hair, too. :)

Congratulations, giry! Hope you will recover soon from your c-section! :)

Well, I´ll be gone now for a week since I don´t have any computer access from the hospital and will probably have to stay for a whole week. I have to be at the hospital at 6.30am which is exactly in seven hours and the c-section will probably be around 8am. So if anyone of you has to pee or breastfeed tonight between 2 and 4am EST, please think of me and send some positive vibes! ;) I´m already getting pretty nervous and hope I won´t get another panik attack tomorrow like I did with Maya. I still can´t believe that I will have another baby in maybe nine hours!

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting for baby´s arrival! :)

Quick stats first:
Labor length: Approximately 11 hours (TWICE as long as my first! lol)
Push time: 5-7 minutes
Slight tear, no episiotomy (yay!)

I'm still in complete shock that I went into labor on my own at 37 weeks. I was induced at 38 weeks, 5 days with Zach with absolutely no action down south at all. This was a COMPLETE surprise. The only thing I was doing to help me progress on my own was taking Evening Primrose Oil. So I'll recommend it to anybody! ;)

4/28/07

Around 8:30 pm, I started having aching pains in my lower left abdomen. We assumed it was the way Evan was laying and it would resolve itself in a day or two. We spent the day cleaning the house - getting ready for my inducement scheduled for 5/3/07-5/4/07. I scrubbed the jacuzzi tub and shower - not thinking anything of it. I was feeling great! Sometime that night, I started having contractions ranging from 5-7 minutes apart. I had been having braxton-hicks for weeks/months, so I assumed this was nothing. I was up most of the night timing and in pain, but again - thought nothing of it.

4/29/07

When I got up Sunday morning, I felt "different". The contractions were different than what I had been feeling. They were more the pinching feeling I remember having when I was in labor with Zach. I started timing around 7:30. They were ranging from 4-6 minutes apart, but were very consistent. I tried taking a bath (and passed out - something that had been happening for a few weeks) to see if they would ease up. After talking to Mom, I decided to call Dr. Yang around 9:30. It just so happened that she was on call that day, so I actually got to talk to her - and was having a contraction when she called. She told me to head on in to the hospital to be checked.

We finished packing our suitcase (just in case!), got Evan's diaper bag, and were off by around 10:20. Rusty wanted to stop at Krystal's to get a biscuit - he assumed it would be a while before we got to eat lunch. (I guess he thought it was a false alarm and we would be coming home later in the afternoon.) We were about 15 minutes from the hospital and the contractions were hitting hard. I was having to breathe through them, and was worried things were going to progress quickly. I had Rusty drop me off at the hospital while he went to meet Mom to get Zach to her.

When we finally got checked in triage around 11:15, I was 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced. Only a slight change from my last doctor's appointment, but I was contracting every 3 minutes. Dr. Yang was scheduled to be in soon, so they had me wait. When she got there and checked me around 11:45, I was 3 cm and still 50%. She admitted me!

The rest of the day sort of drug on. I stayed at 3 cm all. day. long. Around 5:00, they decided to start pitocin. My contractions would be consistently 2 minutes apart, and then drift to 5 minutes apart. At 5:40, Dr. Yang came in and broke my water. At 6:40, I got my epidural and was checked and was 4 cm and 80%. Making progress!

Around 8:00, we noticed that Evan's heartrate dropped drastically with a contraction. Two nurses came in and checked me, and I was 8+ cm and 100% effaced! Things were moving extremely quickly! At 8:20, I started feeling more and more pressure. Checked again, and I was 10 and ready to push! The nurse called Dr. Yang, who had me do a practice push - with which Evan was crowning, and I was told to stop. That was at 8:40. We had to wait 5 more minutes for Dr. Yang to arrive. She came sprinting into the delivery room at 8:45. We pushed through 1 contraction. With the first push on the next contraction, his head was out! Before I could even push on the next one, Evan Wyatt came into the world at 8:51 pm. I burst into tears as soon as I saw him. It was absolutely amazing! Different this time, for some reason. But so amazing.

He weighed 7 lbs. 3 oz, and was 20" long. Very close to Zach's measurements (7 lbs. 13 oz, 20 1/4") even though he was a week and a half earlier. He has a head full of brown hair, and blue eyes. He was having some trouble breathing in the beginning - they gave him oxygen. He had fluid in his lungs from coming through the birth canal so quickly. But now all is well! And we are more in love than ever.

Zach is adjusting like an absolute pro. He doesn't really pay attention to Evan until he cries. He goes to the pack 'n play and looks over when Evan is sleeping, which just melts my heart. He also blew him a kiss yesterday for the first time. Absolutely precious!

I'm so jealous of all of you that have had babies already! If she doesn't come out on her own this weekend, I'm supposedly going to be induced on Monday (the OBs office is supposed to call me tomorrow morning). I did lose the mucus plug yesterday, though. That was kind of gross, but I was grateful that I might be progressing. Then today I just felt weird down there so I thought my water might have broken (it didn't). Went to the doctor and my BP was like 130/87 the first time they took it, then 137/102, then 120/92 or something like that, so they were worried about preeclampsia. I got sent down to L&D and they did the urine test, blood tests and monitored my BP and the baby for about an hour. My BP was normal the whole time, and the urine tests came back mostly normal. There was one elevated reading, though, so I get to do the 24 hour urine collection and having pee in my fridge is not something I'm happy about. My internal showed that even after my PG gel appointment on Monday, I am still only 1-2 cm dilated; guess she really doesn't want to come out!

I've kinda been feeling cinco de mayo as a birthday, though, so we'll see what happens! I'd really like to go into labor on my own or at least be "ripe" before they attempt an induction. DH is totally frustrated, he wants to meet his baby RIGHT NOW, lol.

Anyway, good luck to Bella! I hope everything goes well and that you recover quickly from your c-section!

If I missed congrats for any new babies, too, I apologize. They are coming so fast now that it is hard to keep track.

Bella: Good luck! I'm sure I'll be up around that time, so I'll definitely send some good thoughts your way! Cant wait to meet your baby!!

Maniach: I bet you'll be next. Maybe try some salsa dancing and super hot sauce on Cinco de Mayo? I hope your BP tests come back okay!

Lora: Great birth story! I'm so jealous of your 2 minute push time. LUCKY!
I pushed for 3hrs w/my DD and it was not something I'd ever want to go thru again.

Hawaii: I hope your labor starts soon!!

birth story: I never thought I would do one, since mine was pretty straightforward and planned, but a few things happened which I will share..so I'll put something together and post it later. :)

Things are good today. Lots of visitors at my house today which was both nice AND tiring. My mom just left, after doing some grocery shopping for me..which was SO needed and a perfect gift!

I'm so jealous of the babies already here - we've been having many heart to heart conversations with this little alien reminding him/her that it is ok to come out and meet us! :)

Appt yesterday - no weight gain. I needed that! Cervix is soft and thin and very little dialation. Baby's hb was strong so that was good - baby movements have been slowing down a bit since there isn't much room left to wiggle around. The sludge factory has slowed down but I still feel like I'm leaking at times - pretty sure though it more related to my bladder than anything though. :o

Otherwise - just hanging out. We don't have daycare today so I get to work from home - it's kind of a nice change of pace and let's me hide out!

Here's hoping for a productive weekend of baby arrivals!

Well, we have our little boy!!! Karsten Grant was born at about 10:30 via c-section this morning. He is 8 pounds 10 ounces and is beautiful! Looks just like his big sister. He is currently in the special care nursery, as he was having some difficulty clearing the fluid from his lungs. He should be out by tomorrow. Keep us in your prayers! He is getting better, but I want him to be with us and I can't go see him until later tonight. Otherwise, I am feeling really good. The schedule c-section is so much easier than the emergency one I had last night. We are in a PP room and I am glad it is over. I will post pics later....I am thinking of all of you!

I am SO TIRED! Altho I couldnt sleep from about 5am to 7am when DH got up for work. I just kept replaying all these things that could happen, and when baby could come etc etc....
Next doc appointment IS Tuesday, so I am hoping if nothing has happened by then doc will induce me....we shall see tho.

jessmaine - my husband is hoping for a 5/6/07 baby too. I'm still out a tiny bit of hope for a 5/5/07 baby - it would be the 7th anniversary of our first date. But the mom side of me says that will make for a very naughty 21st birthday! :p

Congrats KikiMommy! Glad to your little man is here and I'm hoping for a speedy release from special care.

I can't believe all these boys!

Hi Ladies!! Congrats to all the new mommies, i will try and come back for individual SO's later.

I am happy to announce that our son was born monday night at 5:44pm. Joshua Ryan Jr. He was 7lbs 2oz and 20" long.

My labor was quite interesting... at about 8am I started to feel contractions but nothing too painful. They felt like the BH contractions that I had been feeling every night now for 2 weeks...the only difference was that I was getting them in the morning. So these went all all morning but stayed between 10 min and 8 mins apart and were never longer than about 40 or 45 sec long.
I called my doc at around noon and he told me to go to the hospital and get checked. Of course by the time I got a sitter for my daughter etc it was already 2:45 as I got to the hospital...I wasn't really feeling too bad and had a feeling I would be sent home. Well that couldnt have been farthest from what happened. They checked me and I was 5cm and 90% effaced at 2:45 pm and Joshua was born at 5:44 pm.
In a total of 3 hours this baby decided to come full force into this world. My epidual was given to me too late and never kicked in so I did this without pain medication.....what a difference from my DD's birth with an epidural!!!!! Anyway, now that the painful part is over and I am at home with my 2 children I can't imagine life any other way!

I will try and upload a picture soon....I've never been sucessful at it before but will try again.
Again....congrats to all of you new mommies and those of you still waiting for your precious little ones are in my prayers!!!

I will post this..but take it down soon. I dunno. just feels really personal to put online..but I wanted to share w/you guys. :p

Gavin's birth story:
my birth story

Ok here goes..

I was up at 1am on Sunday night April 29th, getting the house all ready for G's arrival. I washed carpets, vaccumed, cleaned, did ALL the laundy...and finally hit the couch at 1am. I got in 3 hours of sleep before we had to get up and leave for the surgery. We did and dropped Simi off at my parent's around 6am.
We got to the hospital at 630a. Apparently we were early as there was no one on the floor and nurses not arriving until 7a, so we waited. Then my 2 awesome nurses, Jen and Heather started in. I got into my oh-so-cute hospital robe and into my bed. Jen started my IV, while Heather did all the paperwork. Before I knew it, my OB was in the room saying hi, my Anesthesiologist was there too and we did all the introductions. He, the anesth (mark) was awesome. Swear. I could have kissed that man. He told me all about the spinal I would get, was totally sympathetic to my fears and questions. Basically the coolest man ever.

Finally I was "ready" so I walked into the OR, which was just next door.
They had me sit on the table and then Mark went to work. He said as soon as he put the needle/meds in, I would start to feel the effects. Okay, so he wasnt kidding! Before I knew it, my legs were numb. I started laughing when they said okay, time to get onto your back. I said, uh, yeah sure..YOU are gonna have to do it for me...I cant feel a thing..and my BUTT felt so funny! Oh, and then they said they had to put in the catheter..so they lifted my legs up and did the job.

Then the process began. I was totally numbed up to my chest and started to freak out. I told them I was about to cry and grabbed for Cory's hand. I held it HARD man...poor guy. I was squeezing it like crazy...I dunno. The whole thing was intense. Then Mark started dabbing the tears in my eyes and all of the sudden I asked him if I could finally put my legs down. He started laughing and said, your legs ARE down...flat on the bed. I was like WHAT? I totally felt like I was sitting on my back w/my legs propped up. My butt felt funny and as if I were using my butt muscles to hold my legs up. It was CRAZY!
He laughed and said that many times our bodies remember our last position before the meds start..and yeah was THAT true.

So then I started to really cold. Mark got me awesomely warmed blankets and wrapped me up tight. I was feeling better then and my temp came back up. Then I started to feel sick. MAJORLY sick. I totally dry heaved but nothing actually came out. That may be why they dont want any fluids/food in your system! LOL!

Mark asked if I wanted a cold cloth for my forehead. When he asked me that, I started crying b/c my MOM used to sit on our beds when we were kids and sick and would give us cold towels like that. So even now, when I'm sick...I ask for cold washcloths. So for Mark to ask, and then keep on top of it..turning them over and getting me new ones, was the best. So. yeah. Now you know why I wanted to kiss this man..but I am thinking he may be gay..but who cares right? I still would have married him if I were single. LOL!

The surgery went exactly as planned. They tugged and pulled and I could feel that, but nothing else. Lots of pressure and intesity, but no pain and no discomfort. Oh, the spinal DID suck...it hurt like a mofo...but overall, not that bad. just a bee sting and then some MAJOR pressure. It felt like Dr Mark was putting a fist between my spinal bones. But thats another story entirely. LOL!

So around 820am they said they were just about done. A few minutes later..at 825am, they told Cory to get up, lean over and "make the announcement". Cory did and said "ITS A BOY" (not that we already didnt know that and RE-confirm just before the c-sec on the u/s monitor..but it was cool that the Dr's had asked him to do that "just for fun".

They held him up and Cory took some great pics. The nurse swept him away to the warmer and Cory went over there for more photo ops. Then "the Cry". It was SOOOOOOO Cute and dainty! EVERYONE..and I mean ALL of them in the OR, said "WAS THAT THE CUTEST FIRST CRY EVER???". I was gushing.

Mark was still taking care of me and asking how I was. More cloth towels and he held my hand for a minute after Cory left to see G. They weighed him in and finally showed him to me...well, the nurse moved and Cory told me..look Cin...he's here and perfect. I laughed inside myself and said "another light one!"
Under the bright lights of the OR, he looked just like Simone. Light skin, but G had tons of hair, which glowed light brown/auburn in the room. I just laughed and was relieved he was good to go.
he scored 8 and 9 on the apgar tests, so that was great. Simone was under stress so scored only 3 and then finally 9...so I'll take an 8 anyday!

And then they stitched me up and said I was good to go. They wheeled me back to my recovery room next door and I was in there no later than 9am. Less than 1 hour and I was a mommy again.

Gavin was in the room, nurses hooked him up. Cory turned on sports and I sat back and took it all in.
Then Jen brought Gavin over to my bed for a formal introduction.
By 10am I was breastfeeding Gav like a champ. He lactched on...and became my "new main man" all at once.

And then at 11am, I was wheeled to my recovery room, where I stayed for another 2 nights.

All in all G had no issues. First night was perfect. He STTN, I slept and we ate well. Next day he was scheduled for his circ which was preceeded by the hearing tests and blood tests. Yeah, next day = not so fun for anyone...especially Gavin.

After that it was business as usual. BF'ing got a little harder and he lost weight. Went from 8.7 to 7.15 to 7.9 before we left..so we took home formula to supplement. I was totally okay w/that..b/c he was starving. Rather have a happy and full kid then a crying starving but solely BF baby. But again, thats just me talking. :p

Weds we finished up the paper work, final tests, had one last free lunch and then left the room around noon.
We were home by 1pm and just the 3 of us enjoying our time. Simone was w/grama/gpa and finally came back around 8pm.

And that was that.

Recovery is going well and SO SO SO much better than the first time around. I had 12 hours of labor, 3hours of pushing and finally a emergency c-section that time. My body was ca-put, so this time..to only recover from the surgery is amazing. I'm down to only Tylenol for pain which is amazing. SO much easier this time. I almost feel like I cheated birth! LOL!

And now were are enjoying our lil guy SO much. I am so in love. Seriously. I hope I am not neglecting Simone..sure does feel like it..its hard splitting my time and I feel so awful telling her no..or dont touch, dont do that, this etc...but thats the way it goes sometimes. She is doing fine and the best little mommy ever.
We certainly are competing for "best mommy of the year"...I think she thinks she already wears that crown.

Cindy,
I love the birth story. I am so glad that the c-section went so much better this time. The recovery must be so much easier when your body is in so worn out from all the labor.
I love the Simone is so good with the baby. I *hope*that Paige will be as good :)

Congratulations to all our May moms (so far) and welcome Hamilton, Caleb, Evan, Chase, Gavin, Mirei, Karsten, and Joshua!

[copied from my LJ]

I had another u/s yesterday! The doctor wanted to check on the baby's size and position, since we are hoping for a VBAC, but I am getting a little worried now!

The baby measured around 6 lbs., 11 oz, and I still have 3 1/2 weeks left! Zach was 9 lbs., 5 1/2 oz., and the OB said that they don't want to do a VBAC if the baby is more than 9 lbs (by u/s estimate), since Zach got stuck.

I had the tech, Kevin, double (well, triple) check the sex. Definitely a girl. =D Katie is really a Katie and not a Finnegan. I know that's what we've been told, but I guess I've just got those countdown nerves! Kevin showed me the labial folds and said, "No pointy things in between! You can start washing the new baby clothes." He was really funny. We laughed and talked the whole time. The heart looked great and the feet looked loooong (just like Zach's.) The baby's foot was so long, Kevin couldn't even get a good picture of it, because it was longer than the computer monitor window when he was doing the closeup!

Then I saw the midwife briefly, and my blood pressure was a little high. It was 122/64, and usually it's @ 108/60. So, not bad, but a little higher, plus I had gained 3 or 4 pounds in a week (usually it's more like 1 or 2) and we think it is swelling/bloating. She said that Bryan should rub my feet more often! =) We forgot about the GBS swab, but I guess we'll just do that next Thursday. No big deal--with Zach we did it at 38 w. Plenty of time.

The only downer of the day was that my doula, Rhonda, was supposed to go with me, but her other May mom went into labor 4 days early and they were at the hospital! I had a little weepy preggo moment that I had to go to the u/s alone, but on the other hand, Rhonda only takes 2 moms a month, so as of this morning, she's all mine!

Thank you for all of your well wishes!!
We are home!
We got home Thursday early and have been settling in and trying to figure things out with 2.
My C section went well - soo much better when you are not exhausted from 30 hours of labor. My recovery was good, I escaped a day early. Nursing is tough, tough, tough, but already I have done better than I did with DS1 so I take each day at a time. Cole is ok with the baby but a mess with me whiny, clingy and just upset. I am really in love all over if I could just stop crying at the drop of a hat damn hormones!

And now the pics...

Erin: wow! He is absolutely gorgeous!!!!
Cole sounds like the perfect big brother...clingyness and all. Very normal. Darling picture of the 2 of them. :)

Chick: YAY for the confirmed GIRL!! :D
I really hope you are able to do a VBAC. I have to triple reiterate the C-sec is easier the 2nd time comments...but I would think especially easier if one doesnt have to go thru the whole labor thing.
I'm sure you have a plan...are you going to try to labor for a certain amount of time? Will you get to the active labor and try to push and then if not, immediately go for c-sec? Whats the plan, mama? I'm just curious. ;) HAHAA

ITA! All these babies will full sets of hair. Gavin is SO hairy..he has so much body fuzz too. Its hilarious esp b/c my DD was BALD for the 1st year..heck, she JUST now is starting to grow hair.

hope you are all having a good weekend.
Gavin is the best baby. All he does is eat, sleep, poop, cry for a minute then back to sleep. Its really easy so far. I'll eat my words in a few weeks however. LOL!
I'm doing okay. I was feeling fantastic until this morning when the lack of sleep and achey body totally hit me. I couldnt get out of bed this morning...just so tired.

My milk came in on day 4 and its rough goings now. I'm huge bb'd as it is, so now that I have milk in em, I'm like a freaking porn star..and it hurts!!
I can totally feel the let down and even though Gavin is a BF champ and I think latching properly, it still HURTS at first and when he's done eating, I still feel like I am huge and engorged. Leakage sucks too.
I only have a crappy hand pump b/c my MIL was going to bring a Medela super pump for me from SIL, but MIL caught a cold so hasnt come yet (they live in NV) so no pumpimg yet. I tried to use my hand pump but it took me like 30mins and only got about 1/4 of an ounce! What a waste of my time.
I'm DYING for the great pump and now wishing I would have just let MIL mail it to me last month like she wanted to. But, I was trying to save her a few bucks on shipping. I'm dumb, I know. LOL!

I hope the rest of you are doing well! I'm totally hormonal and everything and everyone (but my DD, DS and DH) are bugging the crap out of me. My poor dad and mom are getting the brunt of my anger..i feel so sad about that but I totally cant help it. I can cry at the drop of a hat and feel anxious and stressed out easily. Its so weird! I'm hoping it will end soon.

Come on Sunshine's baby...your mama is READY for you!!!

Erin: He could not be cuter! I love babies with chubby faces:)
Cindy: that is great the Gavin is a good baby. I am praying this one in my belly is good as my DD is being a bit of a beast lately. I am scared to breastfeed as I have big BB and they were just huge last time. I only BF'ed for 3 days and gave up. This time should be interesting.

No baby anytime soon. I was so hoping that it would be today as I love this date but it does not seem to be happening. maybe some else will have this great date.. Sunshine? mariach?gf&js Anyone :)

cgriffin~CONGRATULATIONS and welcome to baby Joshua!!! I cant believe how quickly everything happened for you! How GREAT!
I cant wait to see a photo of Joshua!

CMW02~I already read your birth story but had to comment on it again b/c it just seems that everything went so well! And I LOVE all the support you had too! Mark sounds like such a wonderful guy to be your Anesthesiologist! I didnt realize they stayed in the room the whole time either!
And how great that your husband still got to announce G's sex, even tho you already knew!!!!
Oh, and thanks for the wishes! LMAO! This little one sure wants me to know who;s boss already! LOL!
It is so great that Gavin is doing so well so far! I hope he stays that way for you!!!!
And the hormonal thing scares me....I cant imagine being more hormonal that I am now....I worry for everyone that will be staying with us! LMAO!

Chicksinger~Yay that your baby is still a girl! LOL! Thats always reassuring:D
I'm sorry that your doula wasnt there with you but at least she is all yours now!!!

erin~I wish I could see those pics:p I cant seem to see them here or on lj, so it Must be something with my computer.....Ill figure it out soon enough I hope...

porn boobs yep, I was enormous last time. My nursing bra for the first stretch was a 40 G, settled to a 38 DD after a while.

VBAC plan A lot depends on how well I dilate. With Zach, I never got past 5 or 6, because I got an infection (water had broken days before, no one believed me), and when the infection caused swelling, that worked against any dilation. (Can't expand if swelling is shrinking the opening.) If I can get to 10, I am absolutely pushing. But if labor stalls and I don't ever dilate, well, my doula and OB will have a few things to try, since they have both attended VBACS (separately and together). After that, if water has broken and I don't progress, we will do a c/s. If water has NOT broken yet, we will not try to break it unless we see dilation progressing.

Wow so many babies! Congrats to all the new moms!

I'm having a pregnancy meltdown day. :( In other words: cry-sleep-repeat. Ugh, and it's still 10 days until my due date, I can't imagine how I'll be if (when) I'm late.
I hope those still waiting are hanging in there.

Sunshine - hopefully you will go into labor before Tuesday but if not atleast you will have a date for your baby to arrive!

Fiesty - I hear ya, I don't know how i'm going to be if (when) i'm late. especially since i'm already 80% effeced as of a week and a half ago, and I swear I keep feeling 'pre labor' symptoms. But thats probably just my body tricking me *lol*

DH and I spent most of today helping his parents clean out their basement since it flooded last night due to all the storms that passed through nebraska and Iowa. we got 5.5 inches of rain but the IL's got 6 or so and they live between two creeks so about half of their town flooded a little bit, nothing major but enough to cause about a foot of water in the streets and about 4-5 inches of water in their basement. And it's supposed to storm more tonight!

I was very crampy all day Friday and Saturday, that and the BH contractions i'm still having all the time I was so sure labor was coming, but today i'm only a little crampy. Who knows maybe this little girl is getting ready to come out, but i'm trying not to get my hopes up.

Wonderousglance: I thought I was in the same boat, but ever since last night, I just have not felt right. Having cramps like I was getting my peroid.. SO maybe...
I totally forget what labor pains feel like. I went into labor in the middle of the night with my daughter and it woke me up. That is all I really remember.

I have the dumbest question for all you RO, Where are you putting the infant seat in the car??? Paige is in a booster right now and it is behind the passanger side.
Help?

ummserious
05-07-2007, 08:16 AM
I had my 37 week appt and at first she said nothing was going on but then said maybe it was a little softer, so I'm just not going to assume much will happen in the next few days. (especially knowing that Amy has been 80% for a while now, right?) So...Same boat! Actually, she did say his head was "low" but not "significantly low" -- I don't think that means he necessarily dropped though.

My husband painted the baby's room on Saturday which is nice. I think I'll go in there later with the windows open and do the needed touchups which should be ok for ventilation and the small amount of paint. I also scheduled all these different things for this week just to get them in like dropping off the car for a few inspections coming up. I also have a haircut scheduled for next Monday...so I'm thinking it would be nice to be able to get that done too, I guess I'm not entirely antsy yet.

One of my sisters had a family/business trip already planned back when I got pregnant--if I give birth before May 23rd then she can still come to the bris. (I'll be in the middle of the 39th week) If not, she will be out of the country. I had told her a long time ago that due dates aren't worth other people making plans around so she shouldn't change anything. I guess that is the only timing I'm hoping for but who the heck knows, right?

Feisty I'm sorry about the bad day, those days suck so much and there is so little to do about it. Is it nice enough where you are to sit outside and enjoy some sun at all?

Jess I'm not an RO but isn't the infant seat ideally placed in the middle of the back seat? I know sometimes they don't fit there.

emilyln
05-07-2007, 08:56 AM
Jess We have our DD's booster seat behind the driver's seat, but we're thinking we're gonna have to put the base/infant seat behind the passenger seat so that DD won't fiddle with DS. Not sure how that's gonna work. Not really looking forward to going shopping with 2 little kids, and having to walk all over the car to get one out and then the other out....ha, i'm so lazy! So, hope that helps, but I think a lot of it is just gonna be putting it in and seeing what works the best.

As for me, I'm 37 w 1 d and I don't think much is happening down there either. My CNM said that she'll check me at every appt if I want her to, but if I don't want her to, she won't. I just remember how depressing it was to be checked and find out that NOTHING was happening at all, so maybe I'll just wait a few more weeks. I am using the Evening Primrose every night so hopefully that'll help. Just can't get up the energy to DTD tho, which she also recommended for preparing the cervix for labor.

jessmaine
05-07-2007, 09:12 AM
I think that I will put the infant seat in the middle. It should fit, I have a big suv.
Emily, I think *hope* that my DD is more helpful in the car. I think she might keep the baby entertained. I hope. SO I may put them next to each other. Paige is 4 1/2 so she gets herself out of the seat, which is good and bad.

Anyone want anything good for mothers day??? I want a car detail and a pedicure. Kinda lame but my car is sooooo gross, i cannot bring a baby home in it.

The weird menstral pains are still happening. As much as I want this baby soon, this weeks in NOT good. Paige has a huge ballet/tap recitial this weekend and a mother's day tea at preschool. She is so looking forward to them. I also have a hair apt on Friday and I don't want to miss it. I need my summer blond :)

I feel a *bit* different all of a sudden...but I dont know if it is just wishful thinking or what:p LOL!

I will see tomorrow if I have progressed at all. I was 1-2cm and 40% effaced last Tuesday.....
And HOPEFULLY doc said he will be giving me an induction date...so I hope he gives me one tomorrow, and that either scares baby out on its own, or I at least have a date.

I'm 38 weeks and show no signs of going into labor anytime soon. :( I'm not at all dilated and haven't even dropped. Boo.

Anyone else here in the same boat?

Well, I don't get VEs so I don't have any idea about my actual dilation. But I am not really showing any other signs of labor either. The baby is staying high. And I have BH ctx really often, but that's been true for such a long time and hasn't changed in a dramatic enough way for me to suspect something different is happening.

How I've been dealing-
I just keep in mind that you can walk around dilated to 3 or 4 for weeks. Or you can be at 0cm and have a baby hours later. And there are lots of babies that do not drop/engage until after labor begins. So, it is possible for it to happen tonight w/o any warning at all. :p

Also, my whole pregnancy I've pretty much assumed that the baby won't possibly come before 41wks3days. (Average length of first pregnancy if left to take natural course) So, if it happens sooner than that it will just be a pleasant surprise. ;)

Also, I keep coming up with new stuff I "need" to take care of before the baby comes. So that way I am focusing on researching XYZ to make a plan, and then putting that plan into action (which may involve shopping...YAY! :D ) rather than feeling like I am waiting on the baby. The past few days I have been working on choosing a breast pump and storage method. (I'm going to SAH, but I plan to donate through MilkShare.)
As soon as I get that worked out, then I "need" to get my food co-op order put in so that I won't have to do so much grocery shopping the first month. And I'll find something else after that. [But in reality, these are all things that can wait or be worked around if the baby shows up this afternoon.]

I have the dumbest question for all you RO, Where are you putting the infant seat in the car??? Paige is in a booster right now and it is behind the passenger side.
Help?

Not a RO, so I can't comment on DC's poking at each other or anything like that. ;) But from a safety standpoint, the least protected child (seat wise) should go in the most protected position.
So, if it is possible to fit one in the middle and one on the side then Paige should actually be in the middle b/c it is the most protected spot and she is in the less protective seat. And then the more protective infant seat (meaning rear-facing, etc.not commenting on brands or anything) can go on either side.
If the side-by-side installation doesn't work out and both have to sit on the sides, then it shouldn't matter safety-wise which way they go. (R vs. L)

have the dumbest question for all you RO, Where are you putting the infant seat in the car??? Paige is in a booster right now and it is behind the passanger side.

Jess: As far as safety goes, they say the best place, besides the center, is behind the driver seat.
THAT said, we have DD behind the passenger seat, b/c well, we ALL have long legs and when we drive, my H and I sit REALLY far back in our seats and DD doesnt have enough leg room. So, thats why she is behind the other.
We put the infant seat in the middle..and then DD on the side. Its been okay so far. Granted, we have only gone on ONE outting so far. :p LOL!

For Mothers day.. I want a new car, new jewelry, lots of presents, a day off, a housecleaner...and the list goes on. Is that bad?? HAHAHHAHAHAH :D :D

And Jess, the cramping/period feeling sounds GOOD!! Thats what they say it feels like when labor is coming!! YAY!

Sunshine: I'm sorry. I hope tomorrow you get some good news!

Things still going well w/us. I will say that its hard and after the first week is done, I'm super tired. But its nice not having to go anywhere!

DD is being so good but we've noticed she is getting into trouble more...its kinda sad. We feel like we are constantly telling her NO! So, today my mom and dad are taking her to the park so she can get some "only child" time.

Today was my first day out of work, but I didn't relax much. Boy, am I in nesting mode!! I finally got all of baby's laundry done and put away, and I hung some wall shelves in her room. We still need to install the ceiling fan and curtain rod, but those don't have to be done right now, although my impatient self is bugging DH to do it. :p

Signs: I've had some cramping contractions lately, but barely enough to mention. Also have more bowel movements, and some other TMI signs of very early labor, so we're moving right along. I still don't expect her to get here before her due date, but it's nice to know that we're progressing. In the meantime, I spend a LOT of time on my birthing ball and have also been walking at least 45 minutes every day.

My doctor won't check me until I'm 40w, so I have no idea about actual numbers.

Other than complete lack of sleep due to a nice little game of rib-soccer, I'm still feeling good. I don't expect to get sleep any time soon, anyway. ;)

If all mommies who have posted pictures of their babies could please post a quick reply and let me know if it's okay if I repost their pictures at the beginning of the thread, I'll try to get that done tomorrow. :D My mom's coming to stay for a couple of days, so I may not be online much, but I'll see if I can at least get the pictures caught up. Thanks!

Sorry I haven't been around much. Been following along, just the only time I get to come on here is really at home before I have to be at school at 7:30 to teach. Yup, still teaching. Up until the day she is born.

Had an U/S about 3 weeks ago, they guestimated her at being 7 lbs. I knew she would be big, but holy mother! Well, yesterday, they did my first internal. I'm 80% effaced, 2 cm dilated and baby is at -2 station. Dr. kept saying "IF I see you next Monday, we'll schedule your induction for Wednesday night (I told her I didn't want cesarean unless medically necessary). She's afraid if I go past my DD that the baby will be too big to deliver naturally. Good thing is, the U/S tech did say that she had a really long femur, so she might just be a very skinny and tall 9-10 pounder. That would be alright by me!! However, Doc made it seem like she didn't think I was gonig to make it. I'm really hoping she'll come this weekend on her own, or sooner, but I have my doubts (I was 2 weeks late myself and 9 lbs 3 oz.) So, the only signs I really have are tons of BH and very sore pelvis area. So sore to the point that I can't sit with my legs closed (isn't this how we all got ourselves here in the first place!! :):);)

Well, off to school. Hoping that I don't go into labor there and that I am at least at home when it starts!

Keliann: Enjoy your time off from work. It will be nice after being so busy with tax season. Are you going back to work when the baby comes?

Sunshine: Hopefully today is the day. :)

FoxyBoo:Wow, you may have one big babe... I love the big babies though. They are so cute and round. Hopefully she will be small enough to have naturaly.

Well, I thought labor was coming yesterday and today I feel fine. Uggg. I guess I can get done all I need to do this week though.

Hopefully we will get some new babes today:)

Appt update - Sunshine - I hope you had more action than I did this morning!!!

Nothing too exciting. No weight gain (I love early morning appts!) and bp was good. OB did do an internal (and announced just before - no more Mr. Nice Guy - he wasn't kidding  ) and baby really hasn't dropped in much - he could feel the head but couldn't really push against it. But if I remember right - my cervix was sitting really high and hidden last time too which always makes for some really fun internal exams. But, on the bright side, I do have an induction date scheduled. Not ready to announce it outloud in case it is a jynx on a delivery on it's own, but hopefully it won't be too much longer.

Today will be my last day working - I'm working from home today too. It's just getting impossible to sit for long and my mental capacity is just gone. No need to waste my time or my office's time.

Good news - even though we didn't have the baby on 5/6/07 - we had friends have twin girls on that date! She made it to 37w4 days - pretty darn good excellent with twins.

Bring on the babies - we had quite a rush and now it's a little quiet! How many Mother's Day babies do you think we'll have.

Whew... so much to catch up on...

We have had some hellish nights lately. Baby Mirei will be one week old tomorrow. We got her into the pediatrician yesterday for a follow up appointment. She was jaundiced and they wanted to see her. She cried the whole time we were gone. It just broke my heart.

There are lots of pictures and updates on her myspace account so instead of rehashing it all I will just point you all there. I will have to write my version of her birth story since what is on myspace is from her daddy's perspective.

Checking in...

Weight check today was good Chase is back up 2oz from when we left the hospital soo woohoo. His color is good and his cord fell off yesterday! I am tired tired tired....

We put the infant seat in the middle and Cole behind the passenger. Cole hasnt bothered Chase yet and this allows me to sit by him and soothe him when he needs it, my car is smaller so one behind the driver one behind the passenger but I havent taken them anywhere in my car yet.

Sending labor vibes to you guys still waiting...

My baby pic is ok to put on the first page

foxyboo She could indeed be a skinny 9 lber! DS was 9#, 5 1/2 oz, but only 50th % for weight and 25th% for head circumference. I still had a c/s, since my labor stalled badly, but if I dilate well this time, I should still be set for my VBAC, even if this baby is just as big as her brother. Don't fear a roly poly yet, that long femur also sounds JUST like my boy was.

Nope - I'll become a SAHM, which is still so weird to me. :p

Had my doctor's appointment today. She seems to think I won't make it through this upcoming weekend because baby is so low. I'm not getting my hopes up, though. My next appointment is Monday 5/14 (39w4d), and if she's not here by then, they'll schedule my induction.

Everything else was fine, though. Total weight gain is 32#, so I'm super-thrilled about that!

So today is my birthday I am now 29 years old, yippee!! It was a great day except we went to buy a piano tonite and on the way home....the car broke down! It's a great car, and we knew it was gonna need some work, but when all you really wanna do is sit around and be lazy, you're really not in the mood to sit in the car instead for an hour while your husband tries to figure out what's wrong and finagles a towtruck over. Anyway, we dropped the car at the repair center, bro-in-law picked us up and took us home, the timer on the stove was beeping (had the timer going for the crockpot), DD was exhausted but handled it REALLY well....and I'm tired and want to go to bed. On the flip side, being 8.5 months pregnant is a GREAT excuse for just about any problem! "Sorry, could you hurry the tow truck driver? I have a 1.5 year old little girl here, and my 8.5 month pregnant wife..." ha.

And for another slight rant...my baby shower is supposed to be on Saturday. We already changed it once from a month ago because a member of the family died and the funeral was on the same day as my shower. Out of respect we changed the date to this Saturday. Well, my sister-in-law, who is throwing the shower, sent out the announcement 2 weeks ago. Well, yesterday, another member of the family sent out an email saying that they were having an important family function AT THE SAME TIME AS MY SHOWER on Saturday! Now everyone has to decide which one to go to! So unfair, especially since my SIL has gone to so much trouble and effort for this shower. I don't really care how many people are there, but for her sake I just wanted people to come. She has done SOOOOO much for me and I wanted it to be a great party for her! So, hopefully, people will still come. My 2 sisters are coming in from out of town, so at least there will be 7 of us...that's a good number, but we'll hope for more ;)

That's it for me. We have a Dr appt tomorrow, but I'm not expecting much. I will get the results from my strep test (cross your fingers for negative) but I'm not sure if I'll have her check me or not. She said it was up to me...I just hate being disappointed when they say absolutely nothing is going on down there and you're locked up tight....boo....

Anyway, CONGRATS TO ALL THE NEW MOMMIES! Sorry about my little rants....but I do feel better :) Have a great night!

**Begin honest rant** I am so envious of all the ladies progressing on their own. :( I told DH I should stop coming here because I get so depressed. **end honest rant**

At my 38 week appt yesterday I was still closed up tight. Cervix is really high and not soft at all. The doctor told me that if nothing has changed by next week (39) then we'll talk about a c-section. Why? Because apparently my cervix at this point is uninduceable. He said you can't induce someone who isn't dilated. So I have some big decisions to make next week. Obviously I don't want a c-section. I'd love to hear your opinions on this if you have any...

Movement - This little girl is completely out of room. I don't get any more kicks, just strong movements like a heel going across my belly or her butt sticking out. The days of an active in-utero baby are long gone.

Emily - HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I'll be 29 next month! :)

KeliAnn

wonderousglance: My honest opinion is that you should wait until 40w to make any decisions. Before inductions, most women went well past their due date and delivered beautiful, healthy babies. FTR, my doctor hasn't even checked my cervix, yet, and I'll be 39w tomorrow. So even though my baby is WAY down there, I may not even be dilated or effaced at all.

I'm not thrilled with the thought of being induced, so I'm crossing my fingers that I'll go naturally before then. If not, I'm going to try to get my doctor to wait until I'm past 40w, which will be next Thursday.

Just my 2 cents. :)

emilyn: Happy Birthday!!

Still here ... sitting on my yoga ball. :p I really don't think I'll go as soon as my doctor thinks, but DH was shocked at how much I've dropped in the past couple of days. He's starting to get nervous, lol.

wonderousglance: My midwife always says that everyone will eventually go into labor. She's not trying to say that inductions or c-sections are not necessary or that babies won't begin to do badly in the womb at some point; but if your doctor is monitoring your health and the baby's, as long as you are both handling the pregnancy ok, and a c-section is your final contingency, could he just wait? My midwife doesn't do VE's, but I have been checking myself, and at 39 weeks today, I'm not dilated at all, nor have I had a single early labor symptom. It's a bummer!
That said, if you decide you want a c-section sooner than later, try to make the decision without looking back. I know that's easier said than done, but the important part is that you and your baby get through birth as happy and healthy as possible!! Good luck!!

Rico'sAlice
05-09-2007, 09:53 AM
Since you asked, ;)

First- Obviously, with cases where there is a medical problem in play like pre-eclampsia, the decision to induce early is based on a different set of circumstances which alters the risk/benefit analysis. But, IIRC/looking at your other posts that doesn't seem to be the situation. And using "big baby" as a reason goes against the available evidence and does not result in better birth outcomes.

Also, are you 100% sure on dates? Inducing and or C-section this early poses the risk of Iatrogenic Prematurity if you're not confident.

However, even assuming they are right, I find your Dr's attitude disturbing, although certainly not uncommon.
What I really don't understand is why is this (induction, C-section) even being brought up so early? You're not overdue. You're not even due!
The average 1st pregnancy lasts over 41 wks! Why should you be "ready" three weeks before that? It just seems unfair to me that you should have to stress over something like this now. I'd wait until I was between 41-42 weeks before even starting to talk about inductions. [Assuming maternal & fetal status are otherwise good.]

When is that baby due? (http://parenting.ivillage.com/pregnancy/0,,jb56,00.html)

It just sounds so discouraging for the Dr to act like there is any reason to think you won't go into labor on your own. Cervical position at 38 weeks simply can not give that information. The cervix is capable of softening and dilating very quickly. It can also be dilated several centimeters for weeks with no labor.
[quote]Labor is not simply about a cervix that has dilated, softened or anything else. A woman can be very dilated and not have her baby before her due date or even near her due date. I've personally had women who were 6 centimeters dilated for weeks. Then there is the sad woman who calls me to say that her cervix is high and tight, she's been told that this baby isn't coming for awhile, only to be at her side as she gives birth within 24 hours. Vaginal exams are just not good predictors of when labor will start. http://pregnancy.about.com/cs/interventions/a/vaginalexam.htm

Next- I understand wanting to go along with what your Dr says. (I can't relate, but I do get it.) However, no matter how they word things they can't MAKE you induce. They can't MAKE you have a C-section. You can just keep saying "NO." I am absolutely NOT saying that you should say no because I told you to. Just reminding you that it is your body, your baby, your birth.
If your Dr. presents you with all of the pros and cons of doing XYZ and you agree and want to give your informed consent, that's great. But if you DON'T want to do XYZ, the Dr. can not actually make you. At this point in the pregnancy it is illegal for them to to simply "drop" you.

As to the specifics-
Indeed, a Pit induction on an unripe cervix has a good chance of being ineffective and leading to a Cesarean. But that doesn't mean that an elective-C is your only other alternative. Obviously, you always have the option of waiting.
If/when you get to the point where you have weighed the risks and benefits and decided that YOU may want to induce labor your OB should give you a "Bishop's Score." The will indicate the appropriateness of inducing with Pitocin (to cause contractions) vs. a Prostaglandin Gel (to ripen the cervix) which would then be followed by the Pitocin after the Gel (hopefully) did it's thing.
If your Doctor does not give you the full picture about inductions and c-sections (how they work, when does evidence-based practice indicate their use, usual side effects & complications, as well as all of the less common risks, etc.) there are plenty of other sources available to research them on your own.

In the meantime if you want to work on softening your cervix at home the most popular ways are-

Sex- The prostaglandins in semen will ripen/soften the cervix. Many of the forms of Protaglandin gels used in a medical setting to induce are actually made from Bull or Pig Semen. (Some brands are synthetic derivatives) I definitely prefer to get mine at home for free- and from a human.

EPO- Evening Primrose Oil. I know someone else talked about this a bunch, but the search function is not cooperating w/ me. Anyway this can be taken orally and you can also prick the capsules and apply them directly to the cervix. DP can help!

-------------------------------------
ETA- Good grief, I am soooo long-winded. Takes me too long to post. Looked like the PPs managed to convey what I wanted to say MUCH more succinctly. :D
Good luck with your decision!

Hey Wonderous -- just, ditto. I know it's so frustrating to be hearing this "no progress, nothing happening" refrain -- trust me, I've heard it THREE times now. My body simply doesn't do *anything* until I actually go into active labor. And FTR, I had my kids (1) 1 day late and (2) 3 days early. And with each, I had nothing even remotely going on at 38 wks, and was checked within 2 days prior to labor with "closed up tight". Third time around I'm "softening" but still essentially completely closed at almost 38wks. I so would not stress the induction issue right now, and there's *REALLY* no reason for your dr to be going straight to c-section.

HUGS - I know it's tough and frustrating and tiring to think everyone else is moving right along, and that you might have to stay pregnant. I always get that feeling, too -- but I try to remember that I am supposed to be pg for 40 wks, and I'm lucky that I'm not like my friend who has never managed to stay pregnant longer than 35 wks, with any of her three kids. Good luck with your decision, and *please* don't feel pressured to go along with your dr's schedule if it doesn't feel right to you.

HUGS for our new mommies who are having a rough time!

Well, I forgot to update from my appt last Friday: everything is fine and normal, 1 lb weight gain. Baby was in quite a feisty mood -- kicking all over the place during the search for hearttone, and then during the internal the NP laughed and said it was turning its head back and forth. She asked it "what are you looking for?" And of course, smart ass that I am, I hollered, "Go to the light!" Anyway, she said I'm still barely a fingertip but have definitely softened some since the prior Wednesday. Then did bloodwork.

The office called me back Monday and wanted me to come in for repeat bloodwork -- apparently the battle has begun and my platelets really tanked (they dropped to 64. My lowest that I know of was 77 during labor last time, and normally when we check them they are hovering around 100. "Normal" low-end to the range is 144.) So, I'll hear this Friday what my repeat count is and what they plan to do about it (hopefully nothing, unless it's packed platelets during labor) -- but no matter what, an epidural is completely out of the question. Which means to me, a scheduled induction is completely out of the question. I could probably handle the pain, but no way am I subjecting myself to being in the hospital for the entire labor with all their monitors and trying to make things easier on themselves. Ie, in the most uncomfortable positions possible for ME. I wouldn't have even considered induction except that I'm so worried about not having my mom in town to take care of #1 and #2... scheduling that would have been ideal. Hopefully baby will just hang out until at least next Tuesday. Next appt: Friday May 11 @ 8:45. I'm sure he'll strip membranes then, as I'm GBS-.

After puking/bathroom issues on Monday and Tuesday, I have lost 5 lbs, so I think altogether I'm up 22 lbs for this pg. I was out all Monday morning at dd's Field Day (2.5 hours walking around -- it got up to 90 before noon!), and so between that and the sickness I was terrified I was going into labor due to all the low stomach crampiness. SO glad that I was wrong. Since not only could my mom not be here, DH had "the sickness" too, and the house was a wreck. Not how I want to leave things when I do head to the hospital.

The good news: baby has obviously shifted somehow, because my sciatic is not bothering me nearly as much. I can sit on the floor again, and can actually turn over in bed and walk right when I get up -- have had 2 decent night's sleep too! Rah rah, I was getting worried about how I would labor if I couldn't move myself LOL I couldn't scoot myself to the end of the table last Friday once she laid me back...

Positive vibes for everyone still waiting it out -- good luck to those with induction dates!

Sunshine Good luck tomorrow!

Happy Birthday Emily!

Wonderous, I think I agree with a lot of what the others are saying. The only thing I can add is that I have had a few friends get told they will have big babies and the baby wasn't even over the 8 lb mark when born. (in these cases the babies were born around or after the due date) I also have a friend who has quite a small frame and had trouble gaining weight, the doctors worried her the whole pregnancy that she'd have a very small baby and would be very early. She ended up going close to her due date and delivered an 8 lb baby. We all carry so differently. So I guess what I'm trying to say is, hard as it is, try to trust a little bit of your own gut instinct while you consider your doctor's reccomendations. I'm very surprised they are mentioning a c-section already, is there another doctor you can ask in the practice for another opinion? It sucks when the anxiety starts and the body is uncomfortable, I'm totally starting to get there myself at least a few days a week. I woke up this morning feeling like someone kicked me in the crotch last night. Yuck!

Happy Birthday!

Sunshine; Good Luck tommorrow. I will be thinking about you!

Keli: Love the nursery color!

I had a gross thing happen today. I woke up this am and had the sorest vagina (Sorry TMI) So I took a shower and I had a huge boil in my labia. It was so painful to walk ect. I called the ob and the had me come in. So they proceed to try a drain it after numbing the area ect. Well it was a hard mass so they had to cut it out. I have 6 stiches down there! YUCK. It is so sore and I pray that I will NOT go into labor anytime soon. The doctor actully said. Wow, I have never seen anything like this when he was taking it out! Nice!!!!

Pray that I don't go into labor soon :(

Thank you all for your thoughtful & kind responses! :)

Alice - I was hoping you'd reply. ;) You are always such a wealth of information. Thank you for the research you did on my behalf. I really appreciate it!

40 weeks? - DH & I are still weighing all of the options and hopefully my body starts progressing so we don't have to make any decisions before then.

It's tough (as you all know) to be pregnant all this time & still waiting on baby. I know my anxiety is making all of this worse. I have a feeling my doctor knows how anxious I am to meet this little girl & he's playing on that a little bit. I see the same doctor my next visit, but if I don't like what he has to say I can see someone else. :)

Again, thank you for all the responses.

BELLA - I was thinking about her today before I read Keliann's post. Hopefully she's healing up & will post when she gets a chance.

Ok..psa for you all. I TOTALLY forgot how many diapers you go thru for an infant. I cant believe how many we have used already. Thank gawd I bought the super pack (170) b/c I think we've used at least 10 a day or more...and our stash which I thought would last a while..is dwindling. Diapers and wipes...be sure to have tons on hand. (if you are using disposables, that is.) PSA over for today. :D

Congratulations clzj and little Anastasia!

Update: Went to the doctor today and she decided to do a NST but halfway through, the paper ran out, so they had me go down to the hospital tonite to finish it. Ended up, everything is fine, little Will moved like a champ, so no problems there. Still can't believe I'll be going back in just a few weeks though! Cool though, they caught a contraction on the monitor there, almost 50 seconds long! I didn't feel a thing, but it's still cool to know that at least my body is doing SOMETHING. I decided not to get an internal at the Dr. today, but I am still using the Evening Primrose (2 1000 mg oilcaps inserted vaginally) each night so that should help. Can't get up the energy to DTD, but hey, i still have 3 weeks, so I'm not stressing too much. Am not ready to go into labor yet! ha! Congrats to all you who are close, have dates, or have babies! I'll just hang out here til the end of the month, kay? :)

Congratluations CLCJ! Welcome to the world baby Anastasia!

All I can say that I think labor is less painful then the pain I am in at the moment! Good God, I could kill the dr for all these stiches. I can't even think about how uncomforable I am with this huge belly, al I can feel is PAIN!

Emily: I think we are in the same boat, just a waiting game now.

Congratulations clzj on your little girl!

jessmaine - I am so sorry that you are in such pain. I hope that you heal quickly and begin to feel better.

wonderous - Good luck with your decision. I hope that you begin to progress soon.

I had a doctor's appointment this morning. Blood pressure was good, which I am so thankful for as it was high last time. Yesterday was my last day of work, and I think knowing that I didn't have to go teach helped lower my bp. Baby is head down and engaged! 1 cm dilated (same as last week), slightly more effaced than last week, and GBS negative. Overall a good appointment.

I have been feeling completely horrible this week, so I'm glad that I was able to stop working a little early. Standing all day/most of the day was really starting to take its' toll on me. I would really like for baby to come in the next week or so, but I'm not expecting anything for at least 2 more weeks if not longer.

I had my appointment this week. BP was 110/60, I gained 3 pounds, so only 20 total gain.
Baby is still -1 station, 80% effaced and I am now 1 cm dialated. So who knows when she will come out, soon I hope but i'm not counting on it :)
