China blocks livejournal

I am in China on business right now and have not been able to access my LJ -I was finally frusterated enough this morning to google why.

The Chinese government began blocking access to the popular blogging site LiveJournal on Friday, cutting off its citizens from the roughly 1.8 million blogs the service hosts. full article text here (http://www.wired.com/politics/onlinerights/news/2007/03/72872)

while this is politically relevant on many levels I am a little too rushed to put this in any other area of the forum. I just found it interesting.

Yeah, they block access to LJ, and to most discussion forums.

Korea blocks access to Vonage unless you happen to have the override software.

Blogger access has always been intermittent. We weren't able to access it at all while in China the last two weeks and relatives in China have only been able to access our blog occassionally in the year we've had the blog.

Not surprising, when I was in China a couple of years ago I couldn't access Hotmail or gmail either.
