Hello everyone. I already did a search and could not find anything, but I am looking for a good pinwheel recipe. They are appetizers usually made with tortillas, salsa, cream cheese and other things. I was just wondering if anyone has a good combo??

hmm, i never knew these had a name!

the only ones i've made and eaten are:
tortillas rolled up with:
chive cream cheese....cut into small bites and dipped in regular salsa.

not that exciting-but i thought i'd contribute! =)

This might not sound good but we used to do:

-Turkey
-Cheese
-Cream cheese
-Pickle Spear

Rolled in tortilla (lengthwise of the pickle spear) and then cut into pieces. I remember this one as a child. Yumm.

We love pinwheels and I make them for snacks or even a light lunch on the weekends.

Some of our fav combos are :

cream cheese, salami, dill pickle spear
flavored cream cheese(chive), roast beef, cheddar slices, lettuce
pimento spread, any lunchmeat, sliced cheese
sour cream(mixed with 1/2 pkt taco seasoning powder),chicken, guacamole

my favorite is:

ranch cream cheese (mix one block with 1/2 pkt dry ranch dip mix with mixer)
turkey
lettuce leaves

we even use the tomato herb wraps or the spinach.

Enjoy!

Not sure if you googled, but if you put tortilla pinwheels - a BUNCH show up! (and maybe try tortilla rollups too?) :) but all these sound DEEEElicious!

I've always done cream cheese, a bit of sourcream (to help it spread), salsa and finely chopped green onions.

Thanks SO much for all of these suggestions!! I did google them and found a lot of recipes, but I wanted to see if anyone made any that they knew were really good. I think I am going to just play around and use whatever sounds good. :) I am going to make them as a part of an anniversary dinner for my husband. We met on this day (April 24) two years ago and we will be married for six months on Saturday. It is an exciting week for us.

Ahh! I see what you mean BlackMagicRose - the tried and true and 'first hand' recipes are always the best.

One variation I sometimes do as well if I dont have tortilla wraps, or just for something different, and because I LOVE pickles; is take a slice of ham, (pat it with a paper towel to make sure its nice and dry) spread some flavored cream cheese on it (I usually just mix in some dill) then put gherkins (the little guys) OR dill pickles in the middle and roll those up. Pop them in the fridge til they are well cooled (and set) and then slice one inch pieces. MMMM good! :)

Congratulations to you and your hubby - I hope you have a wonderful week!

We use cream cheese, chopped green onions, dried beef, and garlic powder. Mix the cream cheese, onions, and garlic. Spread on tortillas and top with the beef. Roll and Slice. My favorite way to make these is with flavored tortillas. Our grocery store has cheddar/pepper and sun dried tomato. Everytime we get invited to a party, this is what they ask us to bring!

I like these, and they do have a little kick.

Spicy Tortilla Rollups (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Spicy-Tortilla-Roll-Ups/Detail.aspx)
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 (2 ounce) can chopped black olives
1 (4 ounce) can diced green chiles
1 (4 ounce) jar sliced pimento peppers, drained
2 green onions, minced
3 tablespoons hot pepper sauce
3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
10 (10 inch) flour tortillas

DIRECTIONS
In a medium-size mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, olives, chiles, pimentos, green onions, hot sauce and fresh cilantro. Spread the mixture onto tortillas. Roll the tortillas up and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Slice the roll ups and serve.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions!!! I kept it simple and made pinwheels with herbed cream cheese and turkey with salsa and ranch dip on the side. Plus I had some sliced bell pepper on the side as well. It looked as good as it tasted!! next time I am going to put olives in it. I think it was definetly missing olives. We also had a yummy white cake with apricot jam filling and powedered sugar on top. This is one of our favorite cakes that the local grocery store makes all of the time and we love it. I also had my husband pick out some choclates he liked, so we have a few of those. They were chocolate and rum flavored hearts :) It was a lovely evening.
