St. Edward's Closes Campus After Bomb Threat

CBS 42) AUSTIN St. Edward's University has cancelled all classes, evacuated all dormitories and closed their campus to traffic and visitors until at least 5 p.m. Tuesday after somebody found a note containing a bomb threat.

Austin Police investigators on the scene said the threat is credible. Police began evacuating students from dorms to the school's playing fields around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning. Bomb squads are searching all dormitories, classrooms and administrative buildings on the campus.

I wouldn't be suprised if this happens a lot. After 9/11 there were several bomb threats at my school and I went to a JuCo. People are just mean and taking advantage of the chaos at VT just like they were doing back then. Especially with finals being near, I bet there will be many things like this at campuses around the country. Pathetic.

I would assume so. We haven't spoken to BIL. DH reminded me BIL is taking a "sabbatical" this semester (he's a professional student) so he wouldn't have been anywhere near the campus.

Hopefully this is just some loser's idea of a joke.

I agree with the PP that this will probably happen a lot. I was in high school during the Columbine shootings and we started getting county wide bomb threats on a daily basis. :( The first few were taken seriously but days when we would get multiple ones we were sent back in the building after about 15 minutes.

Oh wow- I graduated from St. Ed's many moons ago. How disgusting that someone would do this, although I have to admit that I'd rather it be a prank than an actual bomb threat. :mad:
