Here!! Today is my 31st bday and I got to go out shopping and to lunch and I am excited to say that I wore a REAL BRA and carried a REAL PURSE!! Since I work from home and am still BF, this is really a nice change for me :)

Thanks for all your answers about how many x per day you BF. We still feed on demand, too, it just seems like she doesn't demand as much now that she's on solids. I'd say our day is almost identical to Lizard's. I love having the two naps at the same time and for a definite length of time- I feel like I can actually plan stuff now.

Happy birthday, a_spark. :)

Just checking in and answering the ? that I left out by mistake yesterday:

AF - I'm 2 for 2 getting her back by ~ 4 months PP despite EBFing.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Quick quesion...for those of you who BF and work, how much EBM do you give your DC in a bottle?

Camdynlyn
04-13-2007, 07:49 PM
Mia is now army crawling all over the place. It's amazing how fast she is! She's got a tiny cold right now with a runny nose but otherwise is back to her normal, happy self.

jesseybell
04-13-2007, 07:51 PM
AF- I "cheated" with AF. I didn't get her at all for the 6 months I was EPing (even though I weaned very slowly so was only pumping 1-2x a day for the last month). I didn't want an oops, plus my body likes being on the Pill more (AF is virtually symptomless) rather than not (I had endometriosis) so I started the Pill as soon as I weaned and AF came the normal 3 weeks later.

Daycare said that E crawled backwards all the way across the room today!

mkvh
04-13-2007, 08:59 PM
AF--She came back at about 6m pp, pretty much as soon as we added a 2nd solids meal, even though C has never had a lick of anything but BM from the tap or from a bottle.

EBM--I responsded in the MWP thread, babylove, but we give C approx. 6oz per bottle, 3 bottles per 10 hour day.

jessey--SO cool! She'll be motoring forward in NO TIME.

I am here:)

Jesseybell - E and my DD seem to know the same trick...on one hand I can't wait until she crawls (everyone seems to be shocked when I tell them she is not yet - b-day 8/11) but I also love this stage where she is still trying to figure it out....too cute:)

Wrighty26
04-14-2007, 06:26 AM
babylove - Braeden generally takes 2 8oz bottles and 1 6oz bottle between 7 and 3. Sometimes it's less - but that's about average.

AF - Still waiting for her. I waiver between wanting her back and being happy that she's still MIA. I worry that I will experience the same infertility issues I did prepregnancy -- but since we aren't TTC for another 18 months, I can't stress myself out about it!

babylove

Wrighty ~ Is that breastmilk or formula? B/c I know FF babies drink more per feeding than BF babies.

I'm here! I've been faithfully reading along just not posting very much.

AF: Well, I was one of the weird ones who was happy to see her return. Then yesterday I starting thinking, "hmmmm....I think I'm a little late and gosh, I'm so tired." So after two af's we have a little surprise baby on our hands!!! Got a BFP on Drew's 9 month birthday! I'm shocked but excited. We were going to start trying again in the fall so I guess that won't be necessary. FYI....the year after giving birth apparently leaves you VERY fertile.

9 month WBV

and if you can believe this 47cm for hc! I swear it doesn't look that big!

mmk ~ WOW!!! Congrats!!!!

AF ~ Returned just after DS turned 7 mo old. Boo!

Wrighty26
04-14-2007, 07:22 AM
babylove - It's breastmilk! Until recently, B wasn't really too into eating solids. His interest really increased just this week, so he might start drinking less milk (though, the boy LOVES his BM/nursing so we will see!).

MMK -Congrats!! How funny that the BFP was on Drew's 9-month birthday! You've got quite the big guy on your hands too -- I thought Braeden was tall!

ETA - Babylove -- I just read in your post in the BFing thread -- I'm sorry to hear about your supply issues :( that must be VERY frustrating. From what I have read though, it's pretty normal to experience. I do find it strange that the nurse said that 5-6oz bottles was way too much for his age. I'd never heard that before BUT each practice is different. The nurse/ped didn't have a problem with how much Braeden was drinking -- as long as he is getting enough calories from somewhere.

Congrats MMK!! Time is flying, I swear it seems too soon for BFP's already but it's really not at all, first birthdays are just around the corner!

Congrats MMK!! I can't believe we have two preggos here. Absolutely mind blowing that our little ones are that old already.

DS is still no where near crawling or pulling up but he is practicing standing unassisted (of his own initiative) and can stand between 5-10 seconds solo. My nephew who is 3 mos older than DS hated being on his tummy and went from crawling to walking in one month. He learned to pull up the day after he started walking! My brother was just holding him while he stood one day, wasn't paying attention and looked back and he was walking. I have a feeling DS is going to follow the same path. All he wants to do is stand!

MMK - congrats!

crawling - N started going a few crawls forward last week. This week, she's quicker. She doesn't truly crawl though - she uses her arms and one leg and sort of sits with the other one - it's pretty comical to watch. :p She likes to stand and pull herself up too, so I wonder if she won't start walking on her own soon.

Congrats, MMK!

Kate has started standing on her own the past couple of days. When she realizes what she's doing, though, she plops back down. She still doesn't get the whole "put one foot in front of the other" in order to walk, so I think we still have some time before she starts.

Funny thing though, my mom taught her that the dog says "woof" so now she crawls around the house woofing. It's too cute.

Just checking in, and wanted to say Congrats to MMK! When is your due date? BTW, my DS's head was 46cm and change at his 6-month appt. His head size is a joke in our family.

Speaking of which, my 4-yr old niece was visiting her great-grandmother and the GG said, "Oh isn't it nice that you have all of these cousins to play with" meaning BIL's cousins' kids (2nd cousins?). So my niece very matter-of-factly said, "No, I only have one cousin. His name is Seamus. He is a baby. He has a big head." :D

MMK

Thanks ladies! I'm still in a bit of shock but it's starting to sink in and feel real.

emmjay: I just laughed out loud at the big head comment from the cousin. It sounds just like something my little monster of a niece would say! Except she, like my ds, and my dh, all have pretty good sized melons. I always joke that Drew comes from a long line of big headed babies. I'm due in early December (I think). I never EVER thought I would have a Dec baby. I always complain about having three nephews/nieces with b-days right before Christmas...I gues I should have kept my mouth shut!

smurf: I've been working on "woof" forever to no avail! I'll have to get your mom to come over!

wrighty: yeah, he's a big boy. I keep waiting for him to level off since we're not a super tall family but he keeps chugging along.

oh and babylove, I just asked my ped if I should be worried that ds was still drinking 32oz of formula a day AND eating three solids meals. She said that since his height and weight have been evenly progressing (no jump in weight percentile just steady movement) to not worry. She said just act on his cues. I always think that is the best advice.

Wow, long post!

HOLY CRAP klav--that's a LOT of loot! Congrats!

And A BIIIIIG congrats to MMK!! There's a wee wee tiny bit (okay, more than that ;) of me that's jealous of you and emmjay!) Drew is one BIG boy (he's comparable to my DH and his bros at the same age)! Are you/DH taller than average?

jennylou--C did what we affectionately call the "peg leg" crawl for about a week. Then she took off like a WILD WOMAN and hasn't stopped since! I'm sad that we don't have the "peg leg" crawl on video.

Soulmate--That's CRAZY about L thinking about walking!!

smurf--Standing alone??? AHHHH! And hee about "woof". Every once in a while, we get a good "woof" out of C. But not consistently.

Nothing fun to report here. Same old!

I'm here!! :)

Congrats MMK!! What great news!

crawling - nada, zilch, nothing. DS shows ZERO interest in being mobile. He is content and happy to sit and play - and cries and screams if you put him on his tummy. If it is out of reach, he is happy to let it be. I know I shouldn't be concerned, and I shouldn't compare babies, yadda yadda yadda - but I am tired of watching all these other babies (even younger than he is!) interested in moving and grooving and we get nothing. In the meantime, I count my blessings that I have not had to babyproof my house.

On the upnote - he stands and stands. He loves to stand and hold on to the edge of the bathtub while I fill it at night. He will stand there by himself the entire time - a good minute or two.

Anyone know about giving babies blue cheese? When is it considered "ok?" I let DH give some to him today at lunch and he LOVED it. Our new foods this week were hard boiled egg yolks, grapes, bacon, and blue cheese.

wow this thread moves fast!...

MMK congratulations!

Babylove since we started three solids a day Marc's milk intake has considerably dropped, he is now at only four feedings a day. When I take him to daycare I send 2 bottles of 8oz with him. From the first one she mixes a good 2 oz with his cereal for breakfast and he drinks the rest. He always leaves 2 oz or so from the second bottle. I was very concerned specially since he is on the small side but my pedi said that as long as he keeps putting on weight that I shouldn't worry about it... so hat is what I try to do .

AF not here yet :D

Crawling M started army crawling a couple of weeks a go, but he gets frustrated and then he starts rolling (he is a pro at rolling!).

Cheese M has had ricotta cheese and cottage cheese, no blue cheese yet.

Just realize it has been a while since I posted pics of the little peanut, here you go...

Ditto. I could have written this exact same post! Amelia will fight us when we try to sit her down b/c she wants to stand. She'll stiffen up like a board and scream at us. But - if we let her stand at her music table or at the couch, she's happy as can be. And, she's no where near crawling. She either cries or just rolls over when I put her on her tummy. She has learned to push herself backwards, but she'll cry the entire time.

Congrats MMK!!

We are with you nuhmah- She still doesn't like to be on her stomach very much, though occasionally she'll stay there on her own and according to daycare she'll move backwards. We've only seen that on occasion. Rarely does she try to get stuff out of her grasp (if she does, it ends up with a faceplant).

Separation Anxiety- She doesn't have a problem when she is dropped off at daycare, but lately she'll start crying if we walk out of the room. I hate going to the bathroom and listening to her scream, but what else is a girl to do?

I am with you guys as well nuhmah, makena, and jesseybell. I think DS is the oldest of the bunch which, I guess, doesn't add optimism that things will change soon. Jesseybell, up until recently, DS always did the faceplant thing too. Now he knows to put his arms out and they have gotten so much stronger. All he really needs to do is pop over more and he'll be in a crawling position. He has no desire to do that though

klav DS has that learning table and is super in love with it. He loves spinning the bowl around and watching the letters swim around. This week he has been trying to drink out of the sippy on it  and eat the apple.

mobility I know I really should be appreciating DS' lack of mobility but he is at the stage where he is just frustrated and a little cranky about it. Plus all he wants to do is stand and I need to be right there so I still can't just let him be and do other things. It gets pretty boring just sitting there while DS plays at his learning table. I can't wait until I can take him to the park and watch him run around or have a picnic.

What a cutie babywish!

separation anxiety I think we are entering this stage as well too. He is fine when he is around other people like daycare but if it is just he and I and I walk away he gets whiney and eventually starts crying. I hear playing peekaboo helps with this as they learn that even though they don't see us we didn't fall off the face of the earth and are coming back.

cheese I don't know the right answer, but I'd probably stay away from the blue cheese since it has fungus in it. I'm sure many children from France survived eating blue cheese at extremely young ages but just to be safe. DS has had american, colby, cheddar, monterey jack, and cottage cheese. He loves them all but the cottage cheese.

AF Got mine around 3 months PP and they have been regular but with a much later O and much shorter LP (~8/9 days). Also my EW is messed up (poorer quality and less of it).

Wow, klav! Look at all that stuff!!! Congrats!

jennylou

Yay for the beginnings of a crawl! It won't be long now and one day she'll just be crawling and you'll look up and there she'll be heading your way.

Soulmate

Did you say L is thinking about walking?! My goodness!!!

smurf

Standing alone - without something to hold on to?? Wow!

J got up in his crib and on the ottoman once or twice but normally unless I stand him up he doesn't stand much. Also he has yet to stand unassisted as far as with out a piece of furniture or the tub.

AF:

Have yet to see her.

New Stuff:

Not much to update on other than J's new thing is to shake his head like he is saying NO but he doesn't know that it means that since he does it all the time now. Although sometimes he does use it correctly when we are feeding him solids.

Question:

For those of you who have weaned your babies, how long does it take for your breasts to go down to their normal size (if they do go back to the size you were pre-pregnancy? Do they?) ?

Soulmate
04-15-2007, 01:43 PM
sunchaser He is *thinking* about it but still no where near it. He is closer to walking than anything else. He is very actively working on standing unassisted but can only stand alone for about 8 seconds.

weaning FWIW my bbs are bigger now (weaned at 4 weeks) than even pre-preg. But then didn't grow during pregnancy and are pretty small anyway.

Wrighty ~ Thanks...I'm going to call DS's ped tomorrow and find out if I should decrease his EBM intake. I am very frustrated by this whole situation, which I'm sure isn't helping matters. I figure every day I'm nursing is a another day toward my goal, so I have to just keep it up.

Soulmate ~ Standing? Wow! Maybe he'll skip crawling and just walk.

Jennylou ~ That is so cute!

smurf ~ That's hilarious!

emmjay ~ I laughed out loud when I read your post! That's too funny!

MMK ~ My understanding is that formula is different from breastmilk in that FF babies need more formula per feeding. Something about the fact that all breastmilk is used when it is digested. But you are right, I just have to follow his cues.

klav ~ WOW! That's a serious haul! Where did you buy all of it? I see you are from MD too...

mkvh ~ I must admit, I too am jealous of the BFPs...but when I think about it, pgcy just seems way too recent for me to do it all over again! :p

nuhmah ~ That's great that your DS can stand for so long! And even better than he's content to not be mobile right now...lucky you!!

babywish ~ Thanks for posting about Marc's milk intake! It sounds like Marc and Jake have similar tricks (rolling, army crawl) :) He is such a cutie!

jesseybell ~ Jake will cry when we leave the room too, but not always.

Camdynlyn ~ Adorable!

sunchaser ~ I'm interested in the answer to your question!!

9 month WBV ~ DS weighed in at just under 17 pounds (3rd %ile, as always) and 29 inches (75th %ile). So, he is my long, skinny string bean... Half the weight of ajlanden's DS! LOL Just goes to show you that healthy babies come in all shapes and sizes. ;)

boob size ~ I haven't weaned yet, but mine have definitely shrunk down to pre-pregnancy size.

words ~ DS says Dada, Mama, and I swear the other day he said, "banana" clear as day. He has yet to do it again though. We've been doing ASL with him too, and I think he signed "eat" once but it's hard to tell.

mobility ~ Crawling up a storm but not really pulling up yet.

First, Mia has been doing this No thing for the past 2 weeks, too! I think it's adorable and she does it all the time. She has started using it when eating solids and she's full but otherwise, has no idea she's doing it.

As for the weaning and boobs, Mia self weaned around 5 months (she's now 7.5 months) and my boobs just recently went down some and may finally be back at normal size but not in their normal place! ;)

I went to put on the 12m jammies (Carters) I had bought last night - I knew looking at them they looked really long, but really narrow. I couldn't even fit her arm in the armholes because they were so tight. I didn't try the Children's Place ones, but they look similar. So I resorted to a pair of her 9 months ones but she really is just too long for them. I am almost tempted to cut off the feet, but it is still chilly around here. I am pissed! I have about 10 pairs - not sure what I will do. I have size 18 but she'd be swimming in them.

Boobs after weaning - I weaned about 2 months ago. They just recently went back to my pre-pg size (my bbs didn't grow at all during pregnancy) but they don't look the same at all - I definitely understand what people say about the deflated look :(

Right there with you- expect unlike your DC, my daughter doesn't even stand. She refuses to put weight on her legs. And rolls off her tummy the second you put her down. So all she does is sit! And we just mastered sitting at 8 months. We've begun working with a physical therapist about 3 weeks ago and we're hoping that she'll make some progress by her first birthday.

But I don't know, I feel so helpless for her. She's happy as a clam, all smiles and giggles when she sits there playing, but I know there is so much more she could do if she tried, and I don't know how to help her.

I'd feel better if she were excelling somewhere else- but while she babbles all day long, she's not making any coherent words, and she gags herself anytime we put anything other than puree in her mouth. I keep telling myself she's a 5week premie and I can't expect everything to happen so fast.

I'm just feeling sorry for myself today.

Thanks again eveyone for all the warm wishes! I have a quick question...does anyone know when baby's tend to give-up their morning nap? I feel like Drew is starting to really shorten this nap (brutal given how tired I am) so I'm wondering if this is some kind of sign?

bbs: I was small to begin with, never grew during pregnancy, rounded out nicely while bfing, shrunk back down immediately after weaning and now am even smaller than I was to begin with....sometimes life just isn't fair!

amaye: brave? not really...just crazy and apparently real fertile.

ajlanden: I thought I had a big boy. Wowzers! He sure is a cutie!

klav: look at all that stuff! You must be a really good shopper! I get overwhelmed and end up with nothing.

mkvh: When emmjay first announced her bfp I have to admit I was a bit jealous too! From the lurking I've been doing it looks like you may be working on joining us sometime soon?! Hope so! That is terrible about the Carter's sleepers... J's not even close to that size yet so I can commiserate but we do know what it is like to be between sizes. J has been going through that for some time now with his Carter's outfits, ON & Gymbo.

E&O:

So sorry to hear about your DD, hope that the therapy helps and I wouldn't compare yor daughter to everyone elses baby even if she is the same age since as you said she was a 5 week Preemie. My son was three weeks early and they told me not to compare with other babies that were full term and that he would progress at his own pace.

bbs:

Thanks everyone for the information. My son won't take a bottle or sippy cup at this stage and he is going to BF for a while longer so I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

As for those of you still BF and shrinking, I'm so very jealous! I'm kind of feeling so top heavy these days(size 0-2 on bottom and E cup on the top  and used to be a B cup pre-pg) and can't wait to be able to wear my old tops again and a regular bra but I LOVE BF my son so I'll do what I have to till he weans himself or we decide that he must wean.

Checking in here as well - I'm not on very much anymore, sadly. :( I miss it! Ryan refuses to crawl on his belly, but he does scoot around on his back all the time. He loves to stand, and yesterday pulled himself up from sitting to standing.

We're in the midst of sleep-training, which is the worst thing I've ever had to go through - DS sleeps as long as he's attached to my boob, otherwise he screams, and this means mama doesn't get any rest either. I'm utterly exhausted.

I'm too tired to do all the other questions, or SO's, or anything (especially since I have the flu as of yesterday) so I'll just leave a picture and go lay down:

Congrats MMK!! I can't believe we have two RO's! Speaking of RO's, I was showing DH some pictures I took of DD today and he said "she's so cute. Let's make another one". He's crazy!! ;)

mrstim he's adorable! =)

mobility a week ago I would have said that DD is nowhere near crawling and that she would walk before she crawled. Yesterday morning DH said that she will probably walk and we'll have to show her how to crawl when she's like two. (He was exaggerating, obviously.) Tonight she crawled!!! Not army crawl or anything like that, she skipped the whole army crawl stage and went straight to "real" crawling!!! BBs- I am with sunchaser26 on this one. My whole life I was pretty small up there until I got preggers, all the sudden my lifetime dream came true. They even got bigger once DS was borne… 7 months later I hate it, I want to be back to my normal B size (not DD like I am now). I am somehow on the smaller side on the bottom (size 2-4) and my upper body looks humongous. I have actually started thinking about weaning DS but I feel guilty (don’t ask me why because I don’t know). I think once he turns 8 months (May) I will start weaning him but I am not 100% sure yet… we'll see.

BFP- I have to admit that I am really jealous of emmjay and MMK. Ideally I would like to have a second one by the time DS is a year or so, but I would not be disappointed at all if I had a surprise baby before. I had put in an IUD so the odds are pretty slim… there is still hope though :D!!

Second child- As I stated above I can't wait to have a second one, I love motherhood and LOVED being pregnant. DH only wanted one kid but now he is changing his mind. As a matter of a fact last week he wanted to start trying, I should have just shut my mouth and go with it (I told him we should probably wait until M is a year old). DH keeps changing his mind, I know better now, next time he gives me the green light I am just making an appointment for the next day to take my IUD off.

E&O I just wanted to sympathize with you and assure you she will get there, my sister is going through the same (her baby is now 11 months old), but she doesn't even sit by herself, fortunately you caught it much earlier than her. She has been in therapy for two months now and she has reached huge milestones since (i.e. she wasn't even grabbing stuff). So don’t worry, all babies develop at different pace.

BBs: I feel like mine have gotten a LITTLE closer to pre-pg size. But I was a DD to begin with, so that's still huge. I'm 15lbs lighter and a pants size smaller than I was pre-pg, and I'm probably a cup size larger, so I still feel a bit like a porn star--I'm a 6/8 with 34DDDs! (I'm still BF.)

2nd Child: Yeah, I've been outed ;) DH and I threw caution to the wind this cycle. Actually, we only prevented from December till now. I think we may hold off till summer if I'm not pg.

E&O: I'm sorry that you're dealing with PT. But at least DD is getting the help that she needs. I"m sure you'll see wonderful progress soon.

Mystikal: How FUNNY that DD just took off like that! Goes to show you that every child does it his/her own way!

mrstim: good to see you! DS is adorable!

That's about all I can see/remember right now. Hope all of you and the babes are well!

E&O- My DD has been in PT since she was 5 months old. She has torticollis (her head tilts due to her big ol' 9lb+ body in my uterus and the muscles in her neck are uneven) resulting in some issues with her gross motor skills and the amount of weight she can/wants to put on her arms. Her fine motor skills are above her age. PT has been doing wonders for her. The PT has been showing us a bunch of other things too in terms of trying to get her to practice crawling. Every week is hard on a working mom, but I am glad we are doing it.

Checking in.

DS is doing well. He turned a big corner a couple weeks ago and finally decided that he will eat solids and enjoy them. Before then, he flatly refused to eat anything. The willfullness of his refusal has me somewhat afraid of his teenaged years. We have two bottom teeth which came in with little fuss. I can only pray that will be the pattern, but my expectations are low. There are no signs of impending mobility, though he is sitting up well and for long periods. Nursing is going well and he is having a blast at day care. I'm still 3 days a week at work and will be going to 4 days next month.

AF finally returned last week, on the same day that I had my upper wisdom teeth removed. Seemed like a bit much for one day if you ask me. We have our 9 mth WBV in two weeks, so we'll get stats then. I know he is still at the bottom of the percentiles, but he is just a little fella.

They took school photos at daycare. Here is my cutie pie!

Thank you jesseybell and babywish and everyone else for you words of encouragement. Our Miss Kate will progress on her own time, and then we'll miss these days of a happy, contented baby who stayed in one spot! :)

We also found out we've moved on to our 6th ear infection since January! Our ped is finally out of ideas for us and we're meeting with an Ear, Nose & Throat specialist in 2 weeks. But our girl is a trooper, she has just been smiles and giggles through each infection.

On other topics.... my BBs are pretty much abck to their normal size. Just much more deflated. Yuck! And I'd love to soon joing the ranks of the ROs and we were hoping to begin trying again in the next few months. Although part of me would like to wait until Kate is making progress with the mobility thing. Hopefully by birthday #1, it will be in the works!

bbsmine are back down to pre preggo size. Actually, one of them is. The other one is still bigger. I'm so lopsided, it's not even funny. Hopefully everything will even out once we wean.

Mystical-yay for crawling!!

Carla-what a cutie!

E&O-ugh about the ear infections. Hopefully the EN&T doc will have some insight for you. Love your DD's name, btw :)

2nd childThis has been on my mind a lot lately. I always pictured myself with a big family, but I'm having second thoughts. I love DD with all my heart, but she is really a very trying baby. She's still up several times a night and is VERY strong-willed. I'm just not sure I want to risk having another baby who doesn't sleep. Right now I'm considering being a member of the "one and done" club. I never, ever thought I would hear myself say that, but I guess that's what 9 months of sleep-deprivation will do to a person  We're planning on doing some serious sleep training once she gets over this cold she has now, and then maybe I'll be able to think a little more rationally.

2nd - Funny enough, I was just thinking about this because my first PP AF arrived yesterday. I'd love another summer baby, but it took us 7 months to conceive DD so I won't count on anything. We might start trying again around her 1st birthday, but we'll see.

Another?- Seems like there could be a lot of BDing going on come July or August! I definitely have days in which I wonder whether we should have another, because, thankfully knock-on-wood, she's been relatively easy and I am the opposite of smurf - I am so scared that our second could be a terror. But I want her to have a sibling and I want to experience pregnancy again if possible. And time is not on my side, so I'll go off the Pill at Memorial Day and start charting in July. There are just days that I am so in love with her that the thought of having to share her, or should I say, share ourselves seems very overwhelming.

TTCing It is crazy that the time to consider another is coming up! I'm with jesseybell in that DS is soooo easy in so many ways (now his medical issues are under control) that I don't want to chance having a baby that is more difficult. But I too want another one and we are thinking of very tentatively TTCing in September (waiting 3 months to be eligible for STD). After DS I became so addicted to babies and would love to have so many more but my body won't allow for that. I will need to start acupuncture again to get that nice strong egg.

Preggo QOTD When you get pregnant again will you join the mommy thread for that baby? I have a hard time committing to one and feel like I've been there done that. I might pop in to lend RO advice but would not be very active. Plus I feel so loyal to this thread :D

Checking In!

I've been reading along but lately every time I start to post something comes up- darn those pesky kids ;) !

Anyways I can't believe how big (not to mention adorable) all our babies are getting.

Congrats to our RO's!!! Having them close together is a challenge, but very much worth it.

Grant is doing really well we just had our 9 month checkup today. He is:
20lb 6 oz
27 3/4 inches
don't remember the head circ.

He is crawling like a mad man, though still the army crawl. He can get to sitting from laying down and will stand holding on if you stand him up. I already miss when he was itty bitty.

Teeth
We went from none to 2 teeth last week! No wonder he has been sleeping like crap at night lately, poor babe. I think he is getting back to normal though *knocks on wood*.

RO QOTD- I did join a new thread. My old one Summer 2004 moms seemed to slowly die, as Isaac got older there just wasn't as much to update on a regular basis.

Other then that not much going on around here just having fun with my boys!

I'll try to post some new pics later (I have to resize them). Have a good day ladies.:)

I'm here!

AF She is still not here! :D (I've probably just jinxed myself.)

BB Size They are still huge. I was a C pre-preg, now I am a DD. I am still BFing, though. I hope they do shrink!

ROs Congrats! I am jealous too! I found out a few days ago that my dearest cousin is pg and due in July. My first thought was, I want to be pg too! We will probably start trying in November, which would make them at least 2 years apart.

RO QOTD I will probably join another thread, but I don't know how much time I will have for it.

#2 - we originally wanted to start TTC again around Reagan's birthday in August. But, DH is out of work, so we'll put that idea on the back burner for now. But I am really starting to get the baby itch again. Like really bad! :) I would probably join a new thread for #2 but I'm not sure how active I'd be. I'm sure there will be a lot of RO type questions (I had so many when I was PG!!) that I'd probably be pretty busy in the new thread.

#3 - My baby bug has returned once again, but I'm more scared of trying for #3 than I was for #2. DS has been a nightmare - he's adorable and so charming sometimes and I love him sooo much, but between the reflux, the not sleeping (STILL NOT SLEEPING!) and the food issues, I'm very afraid. But DH said we could start TTC again whenever I want. :) I'm committed to BFing for one full year (at least) and my milk got nasty once I got pg with DS, so we'll wait til at least late July. We're planning a 5-year anniversary trip to Hawai'i so maybe we'll just be careless while we're there. ;) Regardless of all of that, though, we'll just pray that we'll have #3 when God wants us to have him/her. DD took 7 months of very intensive charting, and DS was a first-try baby, so you never know. Rule of thumb... don't start TTC until you're comfortable with the idea of having a baby in 9 months. :)

Ack - I'm behind!

Boobs - I've noticed that mine are starting to shrink (and deflate ) a little already -- but I'm still a full DD (I'm still BFing). I started out as a full B, so I feel you ladies wanting to go back to your original size! I don't mind them being bigger - but this is a little ridiculous.

#2 - I have to keep telling myself this, but we are planning on waiting until Braeden is 2 to TTC. It gets harder and harder when your friends start getting pregnant! I REALLY miss being pregnant too. I have a few reasons that I am waiting.... I want to enjoy B as an only child, I want him to be somewhat potty trained (I would like to avoid having 2 in diapers at the same time), and I want to be able to drink on my 30th birthday (which is June 08). Plus we are planning on going on a delayed 5-year anniversary trip next summer. Like Abby'sMom said, it's a good time to start! So, we are going to wait until after that - hopefully :D

RO QOTD - I think I will join another pregnancy group, mainly because I really enjoyed sharing my pregnancy with all of you. It's like a really great group of girlfriends who I also have some anonomity from, so I don't feel like I am being judged for some of the things I think/write. Does that make sense? Not that my friends are judgemental (and I am looking forward to meeting some of you in person someday!), but I feel more open/honest here.

I'm determined to keep up with this new thread!!

ajlanden ~ 30 lbs!! What a big healthy boy...you're arms must be breaking! That pic is so cute :)

Lindybug ~ Banana should be Jake's first word b/c I think they are his favorite food ever!

Camdynlyn ~ Ah yes, my bbs have also taken up residence around my waist. If only I appreciated the perky girls way back when.

Chimichanga ~ I'm so glad R did well w/ your parents! How did you handle it? I would ship Jake off to the grandparents too but I'm terrified that he won't sleep! He never sleeps when we're away from home, even if I'm there!

jesseybell ~ How annoying about the jammies. Can you sell them on ebay?

Amaye ~ A step already? This is the beginning of the end...:p

E&O ~ Your DD sounds like such a happy baby! Why is she seeing a physical therapist? I'm so sorry about the EIs!

MMK ~ No nap advice, but I hope he doesn't give it up entirely for your sake!

a_spark ~ My bbs have migrated in opposite directions too...had I known how they would change after pgcy, I would have appreciated them a lot more before! LOL! Congrats on the tooth!

maybebaby and sunchaser ~ So jealous of your boobage! ;) I'm sure mine will shrink back to at most their previous size.

mrstim ~ Good luck w/ STing! The pics are so cute! I love the last one...in fact, I tried that angle myself tonight, but they didn't come out nearly as good!

JenniferH ~ Glad things are going well!

Mystikal ~ You have a crawling prodigy! Congrats!

babywish ~ I feel the same way as you about #2...I'm excited but feel like I should wait longer. I'm undecided at the moment.

mkvh ~ Who outed you? I must have missed it. Good luck!

CarlaB ~ CUTE!!! I'm sorry you had AF and your wisdom teeth removed on the same day! Wow.

isaacsmommy ~ Glad you are doing well!

Sabriel ~ Jealous that AF has still stayed away. Boo!

Abby'sMom ~ I hope my #2 comes as easily as your #2, especially considering my #1 took just a bit longer than your #1 to grace us wit his presence.

#2 ~ I have always said we'd wait until DS is two before we try again but I have the bug. Badly. I toy with the idea of trying when he turns one...but then when I realize that he'll be one in FOUR months, I rethink it. So, I'm undecided. It took me about 9 mo and 3 cycles of Clomid to get pg, so I'll probably just go right back to the fertility dr when we're ready...and maybe just not prevent for the few months before that. Oh and I really don't want a baby between November and April, so that kind of limits me too...beggars can't be choosers though, huh?

BBs ~ Still BFing, so who knows what the girls will be like by the time I wean. They are already saggy pancakes :( At least they're still bigger than they used to be. I was a small B when I got pg and went up to a large C. I'm a large B now, which is perfect.

New thread ~ I probaby will join a new thread but not be as involved since pgcy won't be a brand new experience the second time around.

#2

We are planning on waiting until Jacob is 2 to TTC. We have contemplated having #2 sooner rather than wait as we have planned and I'm not going back on BC because since I have been off I don't have migraines any longer so it could happen and we would be O.K. with it if it did. Like Wrighty said I'd want Jacob to be somewhat potty trained (I would like to avoid having 2 in diapers at the same time. Also we are planning on going to Maui for our 5 year anniversary. So, we are going to wait until after that so that Jacob and # 2 could have similar birthdates. We want another summer baby if possible.

RO QOTD

I think I will join another pregnancy group, I really enjoyed my experience here with this one and would like to be able to relate to others and share my experiences next time around with other moms to be and ROs, because they say that every pregnancy is different....

Soulmate She will go from a sitting positino to crawling. She tries to get on her hands and knees from her belly but can't quite do it, and I'm attributing that to her pure hatred of being on her tummy until just recently. She will just be sitting there and then all of a sudden see something she wants and just go for it. She makes the cutest little grunting noise while she's crawling. I got a video of it yesterday so I'll post soon. I hope she's not walking in a month! That would be craziness!!!

#2 DH and I are planning on waiting until we get a bigger house (sometime within the next two years) because there is no way we can accommodate another body in this one. However, just Monday I was showing DH some pictures I took of DD with the digital camera and he said "she's jsut so stinking cute. Let's make another one." It was so cute I almost said okay! I do miss being pregnant. That was the one time in my life I didn't feel badly about my body.

Reagan said her first word last night! :D Mama. Not mamamamama, but mama. Then she said mom. Granted she wasn't looking at me when she said it, but I'm claiming mama as the first word!! :D

We made the decision to pull Reagan out of daycare for the time being. DH still hasn't found a job, and we can't afford it. I am so surprised by how sad I was about it. I mean, I didn't even want to put her in FT, we just had to. But she's adjusted so well and is learning SO much - that I hate to take her away from it. She's imitating the older kids and is trying to pull herself up/stand up/walk all at one time. We'll have to be very diligent about making sure she's around other kids at things like story time, gymboree or anything.

I just found out that they are having a pajama drive at daycare for our local shelter, so I can bring in all the too-small Carters. Hopefully they will accept them without the tags.

E woke up at 9:30 last night getting sick. Ugh. Just when we thought it was safe. I did note that the night before the first time she got sick she had had turkey (the first time) and last night she had turkey also. I don't know if they are related or not, or if she got the stomach bug yet again. So we've broken out all the towels to cover ourselves with when feeding her. That and a lot of praying.

Last night I put her in the tub without her seat. She absolutely loved it. I ended up pretty wet since now she can splash all she wants. They grow up so fast!

Threadmistress could you change my age to 22 and dh's age to 23 our bdays were a long ago, but I forgot to change it here

Grant has had an exciting day so far. He pulled up for the first time this morning. It really suprised me because I don't think he had even thought about it before today then all of a sudden he just did it on the first try.:)

Jesseybell- Sorry about E getting sick :( . Grant loves to splash in the tub too.

Chimi- Cool that R said mama! I know Grant will probably say Dada first and mean it since that is the only syllable he seems to say.

Babylove- It is tough when you get the baby bug, but logically you aren't sure the timimg isn't right.

BBsStill bigger than prepg which was huge to begin with. I am still nursing though. Last time they did go back to normal afterwards, even the perkiness, not so sure they will this time.

#3- I am thinking it will never happen (DH says no more), but it would be 4 or 5 years if it did. Since I am only 22 now I feel like I have a while still. Hopefully long enough for Dh to change his mind, hehe. Oh my dr does call me bc resistant (as a joke...well kind of) so who knows there could end up being an oops since my body defies all statistics so it seems.

WOW...this thread moves too fast for me. Already on page 10.

I don't think Feliza is going to crawl anytime soon. She wants to walk already. All she wants to do is stand. Usually she stands and holds on to the ottoman. Or I have to hold her hands and walk her.
She has two teeth and a third on it's way. She had a runny nose this weekend but now it has cleared.

#2: I guess I am the only one with no cravings for #2. I am too busy with Feliza to be thinking about a second child right now. I feel like I won't be able to give all my attention to Feliza if I have another one within the next 2 years. maybe after she is potty trained and in school.

Just doing a quick drive-by...I have a question!

how long after you see a white speck on the gums and fussiness begins does the tooth come through?

We've had fussiness for about a week, which peaked the other day when we saw the white speck, but then today she seems less fussy and no progress on the tooth. It feels like it's taking forever! We are SO tired.

Mystikal
04-19-2007, 04:40 AM
a_spark sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but DD just got her fourth tooth and the white speck appeared on her gum about 1.5 months ago. Her fussiness came and went, some days/nights it bothered her more than others. I really hope it doesn't take that long for you guys!!

Chimichanga
04-19-2007, 07:30 AM
a_spark - This is my guess, but I'm thinking the major pain/discomfort would come from the tooth pushing up and breaking through the gum. Once it's done that (white speck) it doesn't hurt as much. DD was such a fuss bucket before we saw her first speck. Once we saw the speck, she was fine. Weird, I know...

isaacsmommy
04-19-2007, 08:15 AM
a_spark- I would guess that most of the fussiness from the pain will reside soon. Once you cam see the tooth I think the worst is over. At least that has been my experience.

Grant actually STTN last night (well with the exception of waking at 10:30, which was dh's fault since he cannot be quiet when going upstairs  ). I am cautiously happy, and knocking on wood. YAY!

babylove one of my old coworkers had a little girl who only had 1 tooth on her first birthday!

After two nights of miserable sleep DD finally STTN. Monday night she was up from 12:50 until nearly 2:30 and Tuesday night she was up from 2:50 until 4:10. Last night she slept from 7:30 until 6:00. This afternoon she didn't nap and fell asleep on the way home, slept from 5:40 until around 7:00 and then went back to bed at 8:00. I really hope that doesn't screw up her sleeping tonight. ::fingers crossed::

BY the way all this conversation about AF you guys ginx me... she made her appearence this morning for the first time since I got preggo.:(

I got mine just this month, too!

On teeth -DS has been steadily growing teeth for a couple of months. He's working on numbers 5 and 6 right now. And they're coming in slowly.

Mystikal! DS does that same exact thing with his legs then he bends forward! Maybe he is closer to crawling than we thought. Unfortunately as soon as he has weight on his arms he flattens on his tummy and rolls over  He can bear weight on his arms, he just hates to.

I love how everyones' babies are getting their own look now. You know how you can look at someone's old baby pictures and see the resemblance. It seems like our DCs are getting to that point. They no longer have that generic baby face anymore. It is sad but I love seeing all their little personalities show through on their faces.

I TOTALLY agree with you, Soulmate, that the "generic baby faces" are going away. Sad but exciting at the same time!

SUCH CUTIES!!! maybebaby--I LOOOVE that dress!

AF--Sorry to all of those who have had her return! Isn't it funny how we're all different? I O'd for the first time at nearly exactly 6m pp and am nearing the end of cycle #3.

Lots of stuff at once--OH, YEAH! We crawled, sat up from belly, pulled up, cruised, and got our first tooth in ONE WEEK. Fun. It's neat how it all comes together like that!

Teeth--We still have ONE. I thought they came in pairs... ;) :D

Hope you all are going to have gorgeous weather like what we're expecting!! I can't wait to get OUT of work today!!

AF - Humpf. Well, I got mine back on Christmas day. The same day we announced our pregnancy the year before. So - no complaining! ;) I stopped BF around 3.5 months though so I expected it early.

Milestones all around! Last night Reagan pulled herself up to standing! She did it three times; twice using the couch and once in the PnP. :D DH immediately went up to her room and lowered the mattress.

Ok, I know some of the boys around the thread have "discovered" themselves - but what about the girls? DD will just sort of grab herself the minute I take off her diaper. Sort of like how a boy would grab outside the pants. We're already starting the "no, girls don't do that" type of talk. Anyone else with this?

Since we are sharing videos and considering DS' lack of mobility I thought I'd share a video of his mad verbal skills. He has been making this donald duck sound for a while now and we went to visit my brother over easter weekend. My brother started "talking" to DS in the donald duck voice and it is really funny. It looks like such an intense discussion! I'll be taking this down after a day or so.

lol on the donald duck conversation.

Let's see, we are armycrawling like mad! I can't believe the speed that she can get too (all of a sudden). She has discovered that there are other rooms in the house, so I am chasing her everywhere. She is starting to pull herself up on her learn and groove table, but freaks herself out and lets go when she realizes she is mid air.

She is taking a very active interest with the kitties. (poor cats). She is trying hard to say kitties,,,but it comes out like "ritys".

Chimichanga - E doesn't grab herself once the diaper is off, but she grabs herself as soon as I take her pants off. So I am not sure if she wants to touch herself or she likes the sound of running her fingernails (that are always too long) along the waistband of her diaper because it makes noise.

E is really really trying to reach for things from a sitting position until she's almost on her stomach, but she just can't figure out how to swivel her hips to get up on all fours. But it is fun watching her do it.

AF - no sign of her yet! I'm still BFing, so hopefully she'll stay away until I stop.

Boobies - still BFing, but I'm sure they'll shrivel up once I'm done!

Teeth - Dylan has two on the botton, and the two on the top are coming in now.

We have been so busy, I haven't been by here in awhile. So it is time to play catch-up!

Isabella is doing great & doing so many things... it is amazing! Last month she went from army crawling to real crawling & sitting up from a crawl. Then soon after that she started pulling up to her knees, then to a stand, & then she was cruising! Every time I turn around I am taking something away from her (a dog bone, a magazine, etc.).

We started a baby swim class & she loves it! It is so fun to see her so excited.

She still has 4 teeth & doesn't seem to be ready for any more.

BBs I was a size A cup prior to pregnancy... & I've been a B while nursing. I only wish I didn't have to go back to an A when we stop nursing!

2nd baby I am only now starting to think that maybe we should have another... but not any time soon. I've got my hands full.

Sleep Still struggling w/ sleeping at night. She wakes up anywhere from 2-3 times a night & wants to be nursed to sleep. I can't figure out how to stop this w/o using the cry-it-out technique!

I'll be back later to post some updated pictures.

E has finally decided that she wants to move. After a few successful back-to-stomach rolls a month or so ago, and none since, she's now a rolling machine all in the last 3-4 days. And when she gets on her stomach she goes backwards. I can tell she wants to move forward, but she has no idea how, so she scoots backwards and gets upset when she doesn't get to her toy (or finds herself wedged under the entertainment center or couch). It's been taking her longer to go to sleep because she's just scooching all around. She doesn't fully roll in her crib, but she'll do 360s on her back and almost roll over and babble to herself forever.

She also loves to throw things. I'll leave her sitting with a bunch of toys around her and 5 minutes later she's thrown them all out of her reach.

Hey ladies!

A lot to catch up on! We just got back from a week in FL. DS was great on the plane, luckily we had a direct flight (about 3 hours) and didn't encounter any delays. He sat on our laps and slept a good hour each way. We rented a car seat when we got to FL. AAA has a deal with Hertz so car seats are free of charge, which was great. I read through the thread, I'll comment on what I remember!

MMK - Congrats!! How exciting!

soulmate - that is too cute with the duck noises!

mystikal - the noises she made crawling cracked me up!

BB's - I weened at 6 months. Sadly they are back to small B's and are definitely deflated. sniff. :(

#2 - I am so torn. I definitely can get caught up in the "baby bug" mode but then I get a slap of reality. DH would like #2 sooner (would like them <2 years apart) and wants to try around N's 1st bday. I think we're only going to have 2 so even though I'm dying to get pg again (I loved it), I really want to enjoy N for now and maybe put the experience off a little (have them 3 years apart). Does that even make sense??!!! :)

Just a quick thought I've had; disregard if you like, but hear me out. :)

As the mom of two DC who are a little less than 21 months apart, I can tell you a few things about parenting little ones. :) For one, it's HARD to have them close together. But conversely (and as crazy as it may sound), it's WONDERFUL having them close together. (And as some of you are well aware if you've read some of my posts, DS has been a really difficult baby - much more challenging than I'd ever imagined he COULD be). They're great friends already and watching them together is completely priceless. I love seeing them interact with one another every single day and can't imagine not having them both. - It brings tears to my eyes when we're driving along and I look back and see DD holding DS's hand and singing him a song. I don't think that getting pg again right when DD turned one hurt my ability to enjoy her; in fact, I think having two makes me enjoy them even more. The way they interact, the way DS smiles at his big sister, the way DD relishes telling everyone that SHE'S the big sister.

Anyway, I just wanted to dispel the notion that having two close together automatically means you're cheating #1 out of attention. You have to be careful and it's exhausting, but I feel like I've given DD something that can't be labeled with a value: A friend for life in her little brother.

Just a quick edit - Of course different families call for different spacings when it comes to kids, but I wanted to give a glimpse into my life for those on the fence. My kids are close together, yes, but they both get lots of attention and I feel like I 'know' them both. :)

Soulmate--too freakin' cute!

Jessey--yay for almost-mobile. Before long, you'll be WISHING she was still sitting! How funny that she's throwing things.

mm--YAY for a great trip! I am NOT dying to get pg again, but I AM dying to have another child. So I guess we're on opposite sides!

Abby's Mom--THANK YOU for posting! We are SURE that ideally we'd like them 23 months apart. But I (obviously  ) wouldn't be heartbroken if it happened earlier. 18 months apart is a bit scary, but I am heartened to hear that it's so great for you!!

We had a cook out this afternoon with 4 couples and FOUR babies ranging in age from 9 months (C) to 15 months. It was nuts but so fun. Who knew that kid-inclusive parties can be so fun? THREE of them were in the dog crate together. And then the dog tried to get in too. Quite the circus.

Also this weekend, we put together C's Castle Silde and Swing from Little Tykes (a gift) and oh, my, does she LOOOOOVE the slide! We do "1-2-3 Go" and she just shakes. Too cute!

Hi Girls,

Just wanted to add on to what Abby's mom said:

Drew and Livie are 19 months apart and I also love it! They are the best of friends and it warms my heart to watch how much they love one another. He always gives her kisses when she cries and they play with their toys together. They also sing and dance and giggle together (there is nothing better!). Of course, the first few months were very hard. Drew had some jealousy at first for about the first 4 months or so. Now, he hates being without her! He always wants to wake her from her nap to play!!!!!! However, my niece and nephew are 3 years apart and my sister in law swears by that age gap! It really is a personal choice. I hope that my two kiddos always show as much love for one another as they do today! I would also like to add that both of my kids were very difficult babies. Neither slept and both had tons of food sensitivities (still do). They are also very strong willed which makes it especially hard. But I still wouldn't trade it for the world!

can't wait that's great! It's crazy how quickly they can do things, isn't it?
jesseybell that's awesome! :D
mmisabel I know, she sounds like she's working so hard to get to what she wants. lol.

teeth We have an explosion of teeth here, too. A week ago she had three. Now she has six. Yes, SIX! I can't believe how quickly they came through. Her fourth came through last Monday, then Wednesday I saw the fifth, and yesterday the sixth. It's insane. Now I know why she's been gnawing on her fingers all. the. time.

sleep I know a lot of the mama's here are still dealing with babies that don't sleep more than a couple hours at a time, but I have a quick question for anyone that feels like answering. My DD has been waking up between 2 and 3 every night. I try to get her to go back to sleep without a bottle and she does one of two things. A) she will fall asleep but wake up screaming every time I try to lay her down or B) she will just throw a fit and scream until I give in. (Sometimes for over an hour.) She takes two six ounce bottles and an 8 ounce bottle every day along with 12-20 ounces of solids. I've been just giving her the bottle at night because I am the only one home with her and it's too exhausting to fight with her and she drinks the whole thing then goes to sleep, but I'm wondering if her waking up every night is just a habit now? The fact that she drinks the entire bottle makes me think she might be hungry, but at 10 months old shouldn't she be able to go all night without a feeding?

Oh, and DD started doing the cutest thing this weekend, I need to try and get a video of it. If she wants something (usually to be picked up) she will put both of her hands over her face and fake cry, like life is so hard and she doesn't know how she'll ever get through it. Talk about a drama queen!! lol. I can't help but laugh every time. (And, of course, pick her up. :D )

mystikal When we are weaning DS off a bottle at a certain time we gradually decrease the ounces by 1 oz/night. It works like a charm. However, it also entails a bit of CIO because after a 2 oz bottle he's not horribly happy not getting more and the next night when he is used to getting something he'll cry a bit but it is no where near for one hour. Maybe 5-8 mins max. But gradually decreasing the ozs gives them time to adjust and compensate during the day if needed.

abby's mom and rande Thank you so much for sharing. We will most likely have kiddos close in age as well and it is so great to hear that it works out well.

jesseybell Yea for movement! It is all over now!

mmisabel I'm so glad that the flight worked out for you. Did you guys have a good time?

mkvh How cute they were all in the dog crate...it would have been great as a picture.

So DS has been sick all month first with double ear infections, a cold, and now a second more serious cold on top of teething like a mad man. So his eating has taken an even worst turn so now he only gets 11ozs of formula and was only eating cheese and yogurt for solids. Today has been better but he is already at low weight and it doesn't help that he is losing again. I am so sick of teething! He just got his 8th tooth and is working on his incisors.

Mystickal- I am not the person who should be answering this since Melody still wakes up abd feeds during the night, but...my doc swears that if you only offer up a sipee with water instead of formula during the wakeups, she will stop waking in about a week. OMG--SO jealous that maryanne gets to meet up with Wrighty. Well, that and she gets to go to FL! ;)

Mystikal--Isn't it crazy how crawling and teeth seem to go together?? As for the night wakings, can you fit an extra feeding in during the day? 20oz really isn't a ton for a 10 month old. She may actually be hungry but SHOULD be able to go the whole night. C is waking up aroudn 3 as well, but I haven't fed her in AGES. We give her her paci and lay her back down and help her settle again. This all started around the time that she became mobile. I think it's the practicing in their sleep..

Soulmate--I am SO sorry that you're dealing with more teeth AND more refusal to eat. I hope L gets to feeling better and eating a bit more quickly!! Oh, and I DID get a pic of the three kiddos in the crate. Too funny!

Paper--Oh, yeah, particularly price tags from clothes. And yesterday she decided she wanted to eat mulch! We couldn't keep her out of it. She was FILTHY.

maryanne I'd try the sippy, but DD uses them as a toy and refuses to drink anything from them. We've tried like five different brands!
mkvh I really don't think there's any way to fit another bottle in there anywhere. We feed her when she's hungry, she gets three meals of solids - breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and if at any other time of the day she seems hungry we'll offer a bottle. Usually she only shows hunger cues before her morning nap, mid-afternoon, and then before bed. (She only takes a bottle before her morning nap if she hasn't had a bottle during her night waking.) I'm just at a loss for what I should do. Anyway...
chimi she's so cute! DH and I wanted to head to the park yesterday, but DD refused her 9am nap and instead pushed it back to 11:30 and slept till 1:30. Blah.

Hi Girls,
Such cute babies, everyone!

Have a bit of a dilemna and need some of your expertise:

We are in the process of weaning Olivia from breastfeeding and she is not at all pleased. She has never taken a bottle or formula before, except the formula that is mixed in her cereal. Well, she has not drank any formula or breastmilk since Saturday! I am a bit worried. Any ideas or suggestions. She is a stubborn one. My doctor wanted me to stop breastfeeding so that we could track what she is eating better and I feel like my milk supply was drying up anyway. I did not have this problem with my son. He self-weaned and took the bottle easy. We have tried sippy cups, straws, and bottles to no avail. Ideas!!!!!! Ideas!!!! Ideas!!!!

Checking in...

It sounds like everyone is doing well. I'm reading along when I have the time, but between the two kids and working full-time, I'm barely online anymore. We just sold our house and still have not found another one. I'm dreading the thought of packing up the house and storing it, just to be moved again when we finally do find something. I wish we could have a big yard sale and get rid of all the "younger" toys, but baby #3 has not been ruled out yet:rolleyes:

DS is almost 8 1/2 months old and LOVES his big brother. Lots of backwards crawling and no teeth, although I'm not surprised. DS #1 got his first toothright before his 1st b-day. Babbling up a storm, lots of "almost" words. LOVES eating indepedently, almost to the point of refusing food from us. He's pretty much on all table food right now. Loves eating paper as well:) Just beginning to get the hang of a sippy cup, but not loving it at all.

Summer shoes will probably be some kind of Robeez sandal. I'll have to keep my eyes out for options.

Hope everyone is enjoying this great weather - at least we are in the northeast!!

rande sorry you are going thru this But I have read and or heard that unfortunately you may have just to let her "starve" until she realizes that she has to take the bottle to eat. Is she eating anything else besides BM? I know it sounds hard but I have no idea what else you would do. I've never had this problem so I hope she will take one soon... I hope someone else has any ideas.

summer shoes - We are in a dilemma about this right now. We had a lot of success with Robeez for months but now her 0-6 months are almost too small, and she will no longer keep them on anyways. And the 6-12 month Robeez are way, way too big. So we put socks on her and they stay on for 2 seconds, so she's been sockless and shoeless for a couple of weeks now! We got some sandals this weekend but she pulls them right off. Plus I am not even sure what types of shoes they should and shouldn't be wearing at this age. She definitely takes after her mommy - I'd go barefoot all the time if I could. Daddy hates going barefoot.

Speaking of shoes.... I need spring/summer shoes. I was one of those people whose shoe size never went back to "normal" pp. I managed to fit into my winter shoes, but my spring shoes are so uncomfortable. They just don't have as much give as my winter ones I guess. I wore flip-flops and tevas last year from April - October. It is 85 degrees here today and my feet are killing me from too tight sandals......I hate buying shoes.

table foods Is everyone on table foods now? I'm so confused as to when we're supposed to make the transition...Ava just has no interest in feeding herself! She'll eat Cheerios, little pieces of banana, grape, apple, pasta, if I feed them to her, but I'm so worried about choking because she often will gum them up and then just chill out with them in her mouth and then will kind of gag/choke on them. It freaks me out!
