I love Nov. Everyone else in our family has pretty much lay claim to hosting holidays so we resorted to inventing our own. The week before Turkey day we have pie day. Basically bake a bunch of pie and have the family over. Any one else have any Thanksgiving/Nov. traditions?

Here's a few pics of our silly pie day.

Oh my! I'll take the last pie ;) :D

That's a cute tradition! This year DH's birthday is on Thanksgiving so I'll probably have both families over for dinner.

We don't usually do anything special for Thanksgiving. Just a lot of food and football.

We live in Tucson so our Thanksgivings are usually boring (read: there's no snow) so we've been heading to colder parts in Arizona. We've been to Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, and the White Mountains (Pinetop, Showlow) the past three years. So our annual trip has become a tradition of sorts.

Before we started this, we would usually just hang out at my mom's and I had started taking my Godchildren to the movies early in the day. We don't have a large extended family, so it's always really quiet.

We travel every Thanksgiving. It is typically slow at the airports and you can get great deals on hotels and such...so off we go. We're not big fans of turkey and see our families pretty regularly anyways, so it's not a big deal to us and we have really enjoyed our travels!

I love the pie day! So original and I bet they all taste yummy...minus the fire of course.

Ours is pretty basic. Everyone comes to my grandmothers house for the whole turkey dinner thing and watches football.

I LOVE Thanksgiving! We usually travel for Thanksgiving, too, which is exhausting. It looks like we'll be staying home, just the two of us, this year. I still want to make some food, but just a little feast. ;)

We always watch the Parade while tearing up the bread for the stuffing.
We have a family stuffing recipe that each generation of women has added to. My mom added the corn bread, and the use of Oregon Herb bread from Great Harvest. My addition was mushrooms.
My mom always makes Tofurkey for herself & my friend Arlene in addition to the regular turkey.
DH hates turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie. He does like corn and mashed potatoes but that's it. He, of course, is not that big a fan of thanksgiving. Last year he ate mexican food.

Tim's parents do pretty much the traditional plain thing but at my parents' house, it's the day we help decorate the Christmas tree. We all eat, clean up, etc. and then we head right to the tree and help decorate it.

This year we may be going to Minnesota so we can have Thanksgiving with my brother, SIL and neice (they can't afford to drive to WI this year because of the gas prices).

I love Thanksgiving and all the food traditions- jello, riced potatoes, canned green beans.

My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is playing card games after we stuff ourselves- Golf, Spades, etc. While we are playing cards, my grandma also brings out a batch of her famous spritz cookies, which we all fight over.

I like the idea of having a tablecloth that can be used for everyone to write something they are thankful for and their name (with a fabric pen). There could be a new one each year or there could just be one that is added to year after year if everyone writes small enough... and then you'd just have to write the year by your name.

Not really a "serious" tradition, but its a tradition non the less...
After thanksgiving dessert, my father sits in the recliner. He lets us know that 'its time". We turn on the Christmas music, and dance around the living room to "Dominick the Donkey". Its so much fun, and we burn off all of the calories from that huge dinner we ate an hour before!!
